They said they will be doing this. Then they will taper it off as time goes on because it may become rather spam like for everyone especially as they revamp all the bosses. I know they are doing it for Teq for sure. I’ll look for the source.

“We’re looking into this functionality yes! If we end up messaging multiple bosses long term we’ll likely make this an option you can turn on/off in the options panel so people not interested can ignore the spamalot.”

Joining a party gives more drops only because the amount of damage you have do in order to tag a mob is shared with your party.
More tags = more drops.
I call shenanigans on this. In my experience being in a group or not doesn’t affect a single thing as far as drops go.
Unless some one has some hard proof saying otherwise I don’t buy it.
It does. If you ever farmed anchorage when it was popular a month ago, you would have noticed very little loot because you didn’t do enough damage to get credit.
Farmed the heck out of it solo and rarely had an issue. In fact I don’t buy it at all. It seems completely random. I’ve had champs that I was late getting to, hit it for 500 and got a chest, then I have had champs that I was on the whole time from start to finish drop nothing. I’d love an official answer on this because I am seeing no evidence thakittenis anything other than random.
You really should build it yourself. You’ll do much, much better. It doesn’t really take that long and it’s not even hard at all. Watch newegg’s guides on Youtube and you should be good to go.
Its not often i see som1 build a rig on PCpartpicker that i have nothing to question over
I concure with Fermi’s build, it would do well and is right at your budget.
re-use what u can from your old rig. HDD’s, optical drives, OS, case, PSU. if u can save enough u can then get maybe a i7 4770k, or an SSD.
$1000 if a good price even for a complty new rig. its an even better budget if u can re-use old hardware, so dont worry about thakittens
when we get people asking for the same kind of performance the rig above gives, but for $600 ..thats when things get very hard, becouse most the time its not possible.
Thanks, it’s rare to see people agreeing on a PC build so I will definitely go with that. My daughter’s fiance is going to build it once I get the parts.
Thanks very much to Fermi especially and the rest of you as well for your advice!
It takes a lot of this stuff just to make one refined item.
I think it is mostly fine. Would not mind seeing the empyreal come from champ boxes instead of just bloodstone. I don’t care to do jumping puzzles that often and keeps don’t get taken unless there is a farm.
If it gets changed, great, but I’m not going to have a fit if it doesn’t.
There is already enough time gating in this crafting already, don’t need more.
Well, I would agree, if the time gates weren’t so easily bypassed by the TP.
Can’t get the empyreal fragments or stars off the TP though. Can you buy the vision crystal on the TP? I haven’t looked because I am working on crafting it for myself. One more days jumping puzzle run and I will have enough!
Not me, I got mine to 80, decided I really wasn’t into it and shelved it. My first 80 as well sadly. I still dust him off occasionally.
I definately remember the karka event, it was absolutely terrible, like, a massive joke, and a huge clusterbleep.
But that does make it memorable, not necessarily a bad thing.
Looking back at a game and being like “Omg yeah I remember that! Horrible lmao!” with someone else is always fun.
I hope one day I’ll be looking back and saying “Omg remember how champ zerg farming was the only efficient way to make money? And dungeons were pretty meh, and there wasn’t much build variety/skills, and condition caps made condition builds useless? Yeah good times”.
Because it would be a thing of the past. =D
Do… Do you enjoy ruining threads like this? What’s the point? Because you can’t enjoy a game like others do?
Don’t bother to respond, because I won’t.
Back on topic. GW2 definitely sticks out in my memories. It was the first mmo I actually RP’d in and it was a blast. So many fun times in my guild. I got kicked out in the end due to complicated chains of events, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
C, if you’re reading this, thanks for being my worst enemy and then my best friend.
The thing about thoughts and opinions, as long as they are in your mind they are yours to keep and remain unsullied and unchallenged. The moment you speak them or write them to the masses you best be prepared to have good and bad responses and perhaps respect those whose don’t necessarily share your opinions for sharing theirs.
I was working towards this as my legendary until I watched that live feed yesterday.
Hehh I’m the opposite. Wasn’t working on towards it till I saw the footage, and now I will start.
To be fair I am happy with one change to it and sad about the other. I love that it changes to storms at night. I hate, yes detest the lightning footfall. I don’t dislike the the idea of lightning footfall as much as it looks bad and was done poorly. I saw someone mentioned clouds for footfalls(like fluffy clouds not the flattened ones on the ground it currently has), that would have been cool IMO.
edit – the picture above doesn’t illustrate the footfall effects in a proper context. It looks cool in a photo but when you see someone running with it, the little spikes of lightning just look… sparse? That is the best way I can describe it. It seems to be lacking something.

The circle indicating progress spins, but stops shortly afterwards and never loads anything on any of the Black Lion Trading pages.
Eveything else clientside appears to be fine, no graphical glitches to note or hiccups of any form.
Not sure whats going on
It’s slow at the best of times lately. Often if this happens, log out and back in and it should clear up. Or you may need to reboot the game completely. Logging out usually works for me though.
I’m sure I may look back at it fondly some day. Time gives the rose colored glass look back at things. I look back at EQ with this feeling. That was a game you became so invested in it’s hard for it not to be a part of you if you were a part of it.
Even WoW, as much as people want to be down on it, I think they forget the initial game and it’s impact and focus on the bad it has done. WoW to me in 2004 was an MMO with seamless transitions between zones where you didn’t need to wait 2-5 minutes just to zone into another area. a Mail system, holy crap! Yeah that was new back then. It was a vibrant world at the time with so many people, I have a lot of good memories of it as well.
All MMO’s I have played have given that to me, and I have played a lot. GW2, sure I have had a lot of things I enjoyed, but I am still here. I don’t have the fond memories because I haven’t moved on, it’s current not past.
Troll, bandit, spider, oak, boar was working well the day. With the wasp thrown in whenever it was up.
I would build your own, you will save money and get a better pc in the end. The parts that fermi picked out look very good.
Never done it, and I don’t have the patience for it. I may have someone who can put it together for me however. Thanks!
$1k is a bit tight to build a comp for this game. If your current rig is still in decent shape, could you ask your builder to re-use a few parts – the case, power supply and optical drive perhaps (if its SATA)? This might save around $200. That would allow you to focus on upgrading your MB, CPU, GPU and HDD (or SSD). Something like this:
i5 4670 CPU – $236
Asus Z87-K 1150 Motherboard – $141 (get correct form factor, depending on case)
Samsung 256G 540/520 SSD – $255 (solid state drives are worth every penny)
8G 1866 RAM – $84 (looks like your builder carries Crucial)
EVGA 760GTX Video Card – $289
Total – $1005A CPU cooler is a smart investment at around $40. Maybe your builder will hook you up for being a good customer? If not, dip into the beer fund and buy one anyway. You might also be able to re-format and re-use your current HDD for extra storage.
Good luck!
Great Idea. My case is in great shape, one dead fan but that’s about it.
In that case, order the build I listed on pcpartpicker (or give it a bit and someone will probably list some improvements), bring it in, and have them put it together. Their prices are rather high for parts.
I can always try and find someone locally and buy the parts elsewhere. I’ll look at what you picked out, thanks!
I appreciate the advice, but just not gonna happen. I’d get it together, something wouldn’t work and I’d beat the hell out of it with a hammer.
It’ll cost me about 40 to have it assembled. I’m fine with paying that.
I’m looking at a budget of 1k. I’d like a system that is going to hold it’s own for a few years as I normally can’t upgrade regularly. My current system I have had for 5 years and is just now starting to lag behind in some games but I spent 2500 on it back in ’08.
I am not savvy in building or assembling my own. The local company I use is http://enuinc.com/index.php. I’d like to build something from their inventory and have them build it. Of course I am always open to other suggestions but as I said I am no good nor do I have the patience at building my own.
Thanks!
Alts. That is what I do for fun. If I have to stop and break down what I do for fun, I am afraid I will quit playing. Cause when you list it out, it doesn’t sound like all that much. If you log in and play and have fun you’re doing good. If you are having to look for fun, maybe it’s time for something else.
To show that you got skills are many gamers wish, it’s in human nature to show that you are the top dog in some things and yada yada.
I my opinion, defining the word skill can be discussed for some time. Either way, I’ve been wondering, what ‘’proof of skill’’ does Guild Wars 2 have?
Is Liadri the only thing so far to prove that you got some kind of skill? Is the Super Adventure Box Tribulation Mode in some way a proof of skill?
Are these two the only stuff we got so far to show some proof of skill?
Aren’t there some PvP titles that only a small amount of people got recently, because they have been in tournaments and such?
MMO’s have not ever and do not currently take skill. They take time, patience and basic motor function. The ability to memorize scripted events is also a plus. Liadri was nothing more than trial and error, learning her mechanics.
I have such a passionate dislike for the Quaggan, or maybe it’s just a passionate dislike for people going gaga over how cute they are that I would seriously have a hard time logging in if there were Quaggan everywhere.
I’d love to see Kodan, but I think they are too close to the Norn and not likely because of that. I’m not big on the Tengu, I have nothing against them but a bird race just doesn’t appeal to me but I’d be fine if they were added in as a race. Skritt I find mildly amusing but not so appealing as a player class but again I wouldn’t be distraught if they were added as a race.
Just no Quaggan, please. I am begging!
I would love to see something that would let me redo my character hehe. Would be nice.
There you go Uknortherner.
I assume he wants to change his race per the title. Sheesh.
I got over 100 yesterday – 5 alts at 80 – each jumping puzzle in LA and a quick run of CoF on my main. I think I pulled in 124. Add in more jumping puzzles from over the world and I would have pulled in more.
However I do dislike that I have to spend this much time doing it each day, but then again I have an edge having multiple 80’s. A lot of others do as well though.
What about the people who have no inclination to do dungeons or jumping puzzles FOR WHATEVER REASON would like an ascended weapon but are left out in the cold, if they are really wanting one of those items they are BEING FORCED into content they do not wish to be a part of and GOES AGAINST ANETs claim that you can PLAY THE GAME THE WAY YOU WANT. Yes I am getting an Ascended weapon.
edit on TC there are people almost round the clock porting people up to all the jp’s in LA. Save yourself a lot of time and I usually get 9 off sharkmaw alone. No jumping involved.

i can’t believe some are actually asking for nerfs… are you like stupid or something? this is probably the game that received the most nerfs in its 1st year than any games released in the passed decade and you want more? like wtf
exactly he want it to take longer to grind for ascended etc. What happened to play the way you want !? some people just want to get legendary in this decade. Then others want to nerf some of the only profitable farms. Not everyone have time to play 15hours a day. Some people like me have jobs for them profitable farms are good.
I don’t think you read his post. I must agree with him in that it causes problem for others that are in the same zone doing other content. It’s very problematic for all in the zone. I don’t agree with his solution, but I do agree with his premise. Of course proposed solutions get heckled, but fun-fun we can just keep at each others throats in the zones until the game melts and everyone logs out for good.
Causes problems? Overflows are still a problem at every World boss or Scarlet invasion outside of Frostgorge. Frostgorge presents a good target and a “group” to blame. The Zerg farm isn’t effecting anyone outside of the few people who have no manners or social grace in map chat. That’s everywhere though.
Zerg = Scapegoat.
OP, I am sorry Sephiroth was taken. Have you tried X Sephiroth X? Oh that’s taken as well. Maybe you can try Xsxexpxhxixrxoxtxhx.
Yeah I am being facetious but this is about as original as you are if you can’t come up with something where you can have multiple spaces between names and multiple names.
I’d be fine if they left the jugs in. The removal of the daily jug is silly.
Overflow handles like it does for Scarlet’s events. A dev recently confirmed this.
It’s something they eventually want to roll out for all boss events, but that would probably involve synching them all across servers.

Great, thanks for the info!
Looks like it will be their largest and grandest failure-fest to-date. Should be a great one to visit for rez allies dailies…if you can somehow manage to stay alive while rezzing. That, of course, remains to be seen.
Holy heck man you haven’t even seen the event yet…

Yes, I have a gambling problem, but its not about that. Just wanted to let people know that after 3150 greatswords I got ZERO precursors.
Now, the last 100 is a different story, got Dawn about halfway through, and then got another Dawn within the next few tries.
Just wanted to say that i’m lucky, and that RNG is RNG.
That is why RNG is bad.
My only concern is how they are going to handle overflow. I can guarantee that for the first couple of weeks everyone is going to be hitting these events and if they don’t have overflow work like they did for Scarlet invasions there is going to be a lot of kitten ed off people.
I did the troll’s end jumping puzzle for the first time yesterday and I only fell a couple times at one part. I had never really bothered with the puzzles until I needed the emp fragments for crafting. I am having fun with them and have done a few others I had not done before. I was rather happy completing them.
One shot mechanics is Anets idea of skill. Did Liadri require skill? I’d say it required reflexes and doing the fight a few times to learn the mechanics, but not so much skill.
What do you consider as skill? Don’t stand in the stupid? Don’t stand in the stupid while pressing 1? Don’t stand in the stupid while pressing one and managing 20 add ons that tell you what button to press and targeting macros and and no…
I really don’t remember any MMO ever requiring skill. Patience yes. Ability to memorize, yes. I dunno I just don’t see it.
Memorization and reactions aren’t considered skills anymore? Hmm…
I think you are being liberal with your definitions.

What ever happened to people giving their characters Roleplaying / Lore friendly names in fantasy/medieval type MMOs???, names such as Agnarr, Hakon, Korr, Thorgrim, Conleth, Stenvar, and etc. people of the world.
Those names could be rendered goofy with minimal effort.
Agnarr Detrole
Hakon Hakoff
Korr Porr Eale
Thorgrim Havasnikkers
Conleth Ghodanthing
Stenvar Ikan SiuI rather enjoy a good goofy name.
+1 very creative and amusing!
Thorgrim Havasnikkers was great!
I have a mix of names. It depends on the game most of the time. In EQ I always had more traditional names, but they had RP servers where I would actually RP.
GW2 is a more goofy lighthearted game. My characters are as follows here.
Millie Anne Watts – elementalist
Murder of Crows – Necro
Shield Maiden Brynh – Guardian who never uses a shield oddly enough
Pocket Mouse – another guardian – guess which race!
Mourn the light – My Sylvari Thief who is completely black and hides in shadows blah blah.
I have others but I don’t like them and will rename them at some point.
Dodge is great, it’s failure is in making it rely on endurance. Take off restrictions on using it and have more reasons to dodge. Make fights more interactive. Rather than “Oh I dodged two red circles, now I face tank until I can dodge again.”
make it impossible to get anything without boring yourself to death farming CoF p1
Is it really better to bore yourself to death farming champions?
It’s anything but boring really. I guess if you did it 12 hours straight, but then anything would be boring at that length of time.
I’ve met a lot of new people, had some hilarious conversations, had some interesting conversations. Made some decent money, raised my lucked. It’s easy to join in and leave anytime you want.
If the majority of players are doing this then and having fun, why nerf it? If people are guesting to a server and pushing it to overflow, hit another server for Jormag. Yes yes we know you shouldn’t have to guest to get events done on your server but is it really so hard to do? I’m from TC so I’ve experienced it myself many times, especially when they first changed meta loot to once per day per acct. I would just guest.
Time gating is money making. I’m sorry did you think they cared about us? Sure they’ll lose some, most will just vent here on the forums. Some will eat it up and love it.
It doesn’t make sense but you can bet I will take advantage of it as long as it is here. The problem aside from that is that Aetherblades are more rewarding than any others. The minions spawn the occasional nightmare champ, and the flame shaman die in 10 seconds so most are dead before you get to them. The Aetherblades though, 3 commanders and the entire zerg there means tons of loot.
I understand people wanting to complete the event, kinda. Can you blame anyone for wanting that loot fest though? Seriously.
Agreed. I was working towards this as my legendary until I watched that live feed yesterday. I like the idea of lightning clouds at night time, but the foot fall looked so horrid. How does that get past quality control?
Time gated conversions of T6 materials to T7 means stockpiling is unnecessary.
I think you’ll see time gating for the ascended items and precursors. Getting from 400 to 500 though, I imagine you’ll need a whole lot of orichalcum and t6 mats.
I don’t think we need an in-game LFG tool anymore. The website gw2lfg.com works very well and I doubt they can make the in-game tool better enough for them to warrant taking resources away from other, more-needed projects.
Alt-tabbing out or using the smart phone gw2lfg app works fine for now. I’d much rather see more endgame, hard-mode PVE content.
It works for you. I have never liked it and don’t use it. I’ll take an in-game one thanks. Thankfully one has been in the works. I hope we see it soon.
There is no end game, not in the typical sense. There are no raids, there is no gear treadmill. You have time gated content and shinies. When the enjoyment stops you move on. Then you come back whenever you want because it is free!
I’d say I was doing good until these recent events. Those kitten Aetherblade strikers! Stun stun – 4 beams of lightning – bzzt dead.
On one hand, there is fun in events in which a massive amount of players get together. On the other hand it gets real boring real quick. However it remains the number one quickest way to gain money (for most people) with little effort. All you need to do is dedicate your time to it.
Everyone is up in arms about “farmers” but this has made farmers out of people that would usually be up in arms about “farmers”. Anet has realized one thing, and capitalized on it. Slight of hand. Look no carrot here (gear treadmill) but hey we have these others things that are going to make you want to log on as much as possible and milk them while you can.
I don’t get players……they farm hours and hours to get ton of gold just to buy armor sets and legendary weapon to just play dress up with. Its just armor with different design and color.Weapons with different design and colors.Just to make you pretty. And if you think that farming 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 hours just to get that kind of gear will make people think that you are hard working or should be respected.Well, all i can say is lol.
I fail to see the point of your post. If it was just to say that people enjoy the game in a way you don’t understand then ummm congratulations, mission accomplished.
(scratches head)
Maybe anet should just GIVE ascended weapon for you?
They gave us everything else. The only thing you work for in this game is skins. What game are you playing?
Oddly enough, the one thing I am usually opposed to, and was at first for GW2: LFG system for dungeons. An IN-GAME LFG, not some site. No it’s not the same.
I think it usually robs a social aspect from the game, but outside of guild runs most people use the site for LFG already so having an in-game system would just be more convenient and welcome for me.
Too much analysis. Does SAB look like fun? That is the only thing that matters. If it doesn’t look like fun then I’m sorry, maybe the next update will have something for you. Can’t win them all.
If my Guardian had a signet speed boost I’d probably have no complaints about the class at all. I love my Guardian, except I made the tallest Norn possible, so it feels sooo slow.
Aside from that I love my Necro, followed by engineer. Anything else is about average for me. Except the thief, I just can’t get into. I have tried, oh how I have tried.
