The old rapid fire was fairly similar to warrior rifle volley. Rapid fire got a massive buff by having its cast time reduced, so why doesn’t volley get the same treatment since it’s basically the same skill? Might make rifle warrior slightly more useful.

Because volley is already a 2.5 second channel, plus warriors have kill shot. Before they reduced the channel time on rapid fire it was a dps loss for rangers unless they were in point blank range.

In all this years i’ve learnt to don’t expect anything good.
The last patch just nerf the ranger so bad that now i don’t even try to go to wvw anymore. Unless you play pewpew from 1500 and run as soon as someone notices you you won’t stand a chance. Also forget to get any kill, you will be lucky if you can finish a downed player without stomping.

You serious? If there is anything ranger really excells at, it’s WvW roaming / dueling…
I mean… you can basically play 1-handed and still win most duels and it’s actually quite easy to just run from an heavily outnumbered situation (given you are Aware of People coming, you won’t run from a 5 man gank… noone would)… We may not bring much to a team or anything… but if we can do anything, then it is suriving on our own in WvW.

Solo roaming/1v1ing is all about individual skill… any class can beat another class so long as they are adequately skilled. (not just mechanical skills, but knowledge)

Most classes can WvW roam just fine so this example is not good… every class has the tools to escape and make it alive out of outnumbered scenarios if they know what they are doing… except necros lol (dat mobility is junk)

My norn necro disagrees. Snow leopard= best disengage skill in the game.

Are traps any good at all in SPvP? They’ve worked out OK for me in small fights in WvW, but I might just have been fighting, um, novices.

Works pretty much the same in pvp. You will be pretty successful if you have a low mmr, but it’s pretty weak against good players. You’ll almost always catch someone at the start of the fight but once they know what you are running people will start to dodge roll through points to trigger your traps.

You can still destroy people when +1’ing a fight though and you can force everyone off point in team fights.

If I remember correctly, during the betas kick was a small knock back. With the knock back the attack chain made sense since you were cc’ing your opponent and you needed to close the gap. Unfortunately they thought the knock back was too powerful and removed it but they never bothered changing the rest of the skill.

That’s why the skill doesn’t make sense in its current form. Playing with sword on auto is like being constantly taunted.

If you can’t be bothered to sweep for a mesmer after you take an objective (because “it takes too long and wastes time”), then it’s your own fault if it flips. If it was important to you, you’d sweep.

If you are more concerned with the k-train and blobbing, do so.

^ This. If they were really concerned they would leave someone to keep an eye on the keep while it upgrades.

So basically what you’re saying is since you don’t run a stealth heavy build you are okay with them being nerfed into oblivion and everyone that does run them can go kitten themselves. All so you don’t have to drop a stealth trap.

Not at all. I am in no way saying nerf it into oblivion. Stealth can be very useful. I am agreeing that it is currently OP on Mesmers, and to a point on Thieves. That’s what this thread is about…discussing solutions.

My suggestion is not a nerf…at all…I said nothing about changing anything about the skills. Only about where and when it can be used. Inside an enemy controlled fully repaired keep…which is actually, if you think about it, a very small portion of the WvW side of the game. That is a balancing limitation. Not a nerf.

Balancing limitations force creative use of existing options. I know that can be challenging to some who have come to reply on the ease of the OP Stealth availability. But with a little effort, this limitation would actually require minimal change for players who know their class and how to work in a group.

It is absolutely a nerf. Not to a skill but to an entire play style.

That change would do nothing to combat the parts of WvW where stealth classes are actually strong (roaming) it would just serve to make them weaker in large scale fights (where they are already very weak).

PU needs to be toned down across the board, but completely breaking stealth classes in WvW isn’t the solution. Especially when there are already so many ways to deal with the problem you are complaining about.

Run a regular glass thief build, bringing traits and skills that rely on stealth to survive, and go jump into a zerg fight without using stealth once. See how long you survive.
Considering most thieves only condi cleanse in their build comes from shadow arts you will pretty much get wrecked by the first condi that gets applied to you.

And don’t argue they can build to not use stealth. I know it’s possible, I’ve done it myself. But if your idea went through that means any stealth build would be completely useless in WvW because you could never jump into fights around towers or keeps. You would be destroying build diversity for several classes.

I suppose it comes back to personal choice, I guess.

1. I would never run a glass thief in WvW. I think that is foolish.
2. Condi Clear is a problem…granted…but it is a problem that can be dealt with. (Sigils of Generosity and Purity are good for that…there’s that darn versatility again.)
3. By relying on Stealth so heavily, you limit your own build diversity. I can cause a whole lot of havok and mayhem with the skill slots that get ate up by a heavy Stealth build. I am speaking only of my Thief…i won’t play my Mesmer in WvW, by choice.
4. I can assure you that if they put into place what I suggested; I could play a very versatile Thief build that uses Stealth very effectively. I do it now, since I won’t play perma-stealth cheese builds.

Again, personal perspective and choice. Its ok if you need to play those builds.

The Leap Finisher is on the 2nd part of the skill, same as the Evade.

Which means if you start Swoop while standing inside a field, there is a good chance you will run out of it before using the Leap Finishing, so you get nothing.

Maybe Swoop should simply get the double Leap Finisher back, or the Leap Finisher should be on the first part of the skill rather than on the second part.

Or they could change the animation so we instantly leap instead of doing the little run at the start. That would help keep it from bugging out on terrain as well.

I’ve found trapper rangers to be free bags now that traps aren’t ground targeted. Just don’t get locked down and avoid the spots where they squat down. Most aren’t running any stun breaks and have crappy or nothing for condi removal. They are very easy to cc and burst down.

When we are fighting to defend a keep we always send a couple of guys to take out the siege and minimally repair the wall to keep the players we killed from streaming back in. We can have the wall closed and still fight for a good 15 minutes.

Just because you get by just fine in a group with no thieves and mesmers doesn’t mean those classes deserve to fight at a huge disadvantage any time they are attacking a structure.

Again, if losing your Stealth is a huge disadvantage, I’m not sure even my idea can overcome the lack of a diverse skill set and versatile application of said diverse skills.

There is no need to introduce class crippling mechanics against only one or two classes because some players refuse to use the tools given to them.

I totally agree with you on not crippling a class with a mechanic as the one suggested but really what tools?

We have two reliable reveals. Engineer has a reveal trait and we have the stealth disruption trap. Reverent and dragon hunter will also have reliable reveals but for the current game they dont count.

The trap which I know your going to point too requires 10 supply which a rather large amount and 9/10 if your flipping anything that is being defended, you will have no supply after flipping. Which might I add even if you do have the supply and detect a mesmer, they can blink & run away for 5 seconds and then resume stealthing. Then your back at square one.

The only realistic way to deal with stealth right now unless your an engi is aoe spam and hope your hitting the mesmer(s). Which frankly is unfun, and uninteresting combat that does nothing other than frustrate both parties.

Stealth traps reveal players for 30 seconds, not 5.
If you can’t kill a revealed thief or mesmer in 30 seconds…..

This has nothing to do with a need for across the board class-crippling. This limits 1 ability. Stealth. It doesn’t apply to Mesmers alone…Mesmers and Thieves being the most predominant in Stealth with Ranger a far distant 3rd. Notice also I said Mesmers should keep their Portals. This is to target a completely OP ability(and I play a Warrior or a Thief in WvW, and Stealth is only 1 tool in my Thief’s toolbox.) I can’t believe they censored kitten n4l -defined as an array of resources available for a certain purpose …lol

I’m not sure you really read my post. I provided for a balance. Breach a wall or gate, get your stealth back. Victors of the objective decide not to repair the objective they have just taken? Keep stealth and its their own fault. While they are repairing, you can still stealth and get somewhere to hide, because when the repair is done, you get Revealed. Hide well and the repairing group isn’t thorough, you’re still there(and still have your portals). In the current game, get caught when the walls and gate auto-repair, I would hope you or your group is skilled enough to not have to rely on Stealth as their only path to victory, evasion, or escape.

I’m not trying to be snitty, and this is a general statement, not directed at any one person. If you have to rely on Stealth THAT much as a Mesmer or Thief. You really need to branch out and play more classes and understand strategy and group synergies in WvW a bit better. I run with groups in WvW that have no Thieves or Mesmers in them…and we do just fine.

Well put. That’s exactly the problem.

Way to ignore the rest of what I said about guards getting free stealth traps and revenants getting kitten reveal on a 20s CD.

Maybe I’ll just play Chronomancer and* help ruin WvW until noone plays it anymore* or they fix it.

Pretty sure Anet is beating you to the punch with all the PvE crap being included in the new bl.

I love it. A couple of days ago I got teamed up with 2 guys in a guild that were absolutely terrible, they spent half the match fighting off point and losing those fights, and the other half talking kitten about the rest of the team. I made sure to send them some packets of salt in the mail and have a good laugh at them as they raged.

Then the best thing that could possibly happen next happened, we got thrown into a match on opposite teams. The thirsty kitteners spent a good chunk of the game trying to 2v1 me, they would fully abandon points trying to get me, and of course we absolutely crushed them. To rub it in more I would compliment the rest of the team saying good fights, sorry you guys are stuck with those 2 crappy players, they are losing the match for you, etc. Then I made sure to send them some humiliation dye.

This isn’t a care bears cartoon, if someone is being an kitten you can ignore them or beat them and laugh at them. If you are really bothered by what some stupid little 13 year old says to you in a game you either need to grow some thicker skin or avoid the internet for the rest of your life.

And not just one or two examples either. to be statistically accurate you need a large sample and you need to prove other servers do it less. Can you do that?

I’m not claiming it’s demonstrable truth. I’m claiming I’ve witnessed Db be terrible as a server more than I’ve witnessed any other server in my time in gw2. Since my claim is anecdotal in nature, I merit no burden of proof UNLESS I’m claiming that you should believe me too. That’s a key distinction. I’m more than fine with you disagreeing/doubting what I say. I’m just giving my perspective, if you don’t think I’m right, that’s fine. But I don’t need to prove what I’ve claimed I’ve seen, it’s an anecdote, and that’s what the op was asking for.

I created a new Ranger tonight and started with the river drake. Once I hit level 11, all of my pets got their skills unlocked as they should have except for my drake. The icon for Lightning Breath is just a gray box, and in the pet menu, both it and Chomp are missing. The same thing is occuring with the marsh drake I later tamed. All other pet species work fine. Relogging, closing the game, and swapping out the pets did not work. So drakes are basically useless now, which is bad, because drakes are my favorite pet.

Yup just saw this myself while leveling on an alt account.

Here’s the thing you missed Puck, opinions are suggestive, I do not think it’s a terrible idea, maybe you do but I do not. If you’re in a keep NPC’s will 9/10 times go for the first visible as a target, it would work no differently but it would make sneaking around after a cap not a lawls walk in the park. So if you go in with your small group of LGN, kill the guards, one of you’re heavies will most likely soak the damage allowing the rest of you to preform as usual. It’s not like all of a sudden the NPC’s are going to ignore everyone but classes with stealth.

As said this is an after the fact effect top make sneaking around after a cap more difficult than it currently is. Asking for a nerf (even though they need it) is never a good idea, as proven in the past so many times Anet will not only nerf the class they will gut it.

And if you are attacking a keep that has a crap ton of people camping ac’s and you want to get a mesmer to stealth and run inside to where the ac’s are so you can portal to them instead of pushing a deadly choke? What’s the plan there?

Mesmer stealths, tries running in, the guard uses his “infrared vision and revealing shot” to reveal the mesmer, mesmer insta dies from the 30+ inside that won’t leave their ac’s to fight, siegewars 2 becomes even more boring. Are you starting to see why this is a problem?

Hell you couldn’t even veil and push since it would take 1 stupid npc to reveal your groups position.

Another situation is what if you are a mesmer/ranger/thief running around solo and decide to ninja a tower or keep. Those professions defense heavily relies on stealth. Being constantly revealed by the guards, especially if you have to fight a few players while in npc’s, would be a death sentence. Bad idea is bad.

I’m going to assume you haven’t seen the new keeps. I assure you there is A LOT more room to move around and get mesmers in. Also adjustments could be made so your not revealed, maybe the guards just chase you while still stealthed, maybe use more than a mesmer to pull the guards away from the mesmer, maybe use a SR and send in a random whatever class to pull the guard away from the mesmer. Try not to tunnel vision on 1 strategy.

Try not to tunnel vision on how this idea affects mesmers hiding in keeps without considering how it would affect every other fight in and around towers/keeps.

Don’t warrior banners and necro wells work underwater? I try to avoid underwater combat on everything but my ranger so I’m not 100% sure.

I think giving the guards and lords reveal is a good idea. It still allows for Mesmers to hide out and do their thing, but it means they need to be more careful. Put in some roaming guards while were at it.

Mesmers are one class that went over the top with the trait changes, they have access to to much. Now I know all the mesmer kiddies are going to come screaming and stomping their feet but, it’s about balancing the game so it’s enjoyable for everyone, not so it’s enjoyable for 1 class.

Mesmers were fine as far as hiding in keeps before the changes, they had to use their brains about it but it was easily doable. Now it’s just to the point of stupidity, they can just run away without any thought, no effort needs to be put into it, and for those listing reveals and the likes, most people as I’m sure you are aware will not and do not take these traits/utilities. They are not needed for 99.9% of the game and a waste of a trait/utility. Sitting in a keep guarding it has no rewards, it’s more likely to believe that no one will sit in a keep boring themselves to death with their “reveal build” that is useless for anything but sitting in a keep, all while receiving no rewards.

Just because you play a Mesmer doesn’t mean you can’t see the flaws and come up with suggestions that work for you and other classes. If you are stealthed in a keep and laughing while putting in next to no effort as people are trying to find you than yes, it is broken, there should be some degree of challenge to remain in that keep.

There is a difference between wanting to see mesmers toned down and encouraging game breaking mechanics being added to PvE mobs.

I absolutely agree that mesmers are currently over powered in WvW and their stealth duration needs to be adjusted.

However I completely disagree with npc’s “having infrared vision and revealing shots”. That kind of mechanic wouldn’t just affect mesmers hiding out after a keep fight, it would mean classes/builds reliant on stealth would be even more useless while attacking structures. This means rangers, mesmers, thieves and engie’s, basically the 4 classes without a solid role in the zerg in the first place (other than 1 mesmer acting as a veil bot, which this change would ruin).

You want mesmers toned down? Point out traits/skills that are causing the problems and propose reasonable solutions on how they should be adjusted. Do this and if the idea is good I will support you 100%. Deciding not to blindly follow a terrible idea doesn’t make me a “mesmer kiddy, screaming and stomping his feet”, it just means I disagree with a terrible idea because I have enough forethought to realize that it’s not worth breaking the game to fix 1 small problem, especially when there are other solutions.

as for lock on trait, now this is gonna sound silly, but it only applies the reveal when using a targeted ability. you might realize that if theyre stealthed, you cant target them!

Doesn’t it mean ground-targeted? I’m not Engi, but I remember the speculation with revealing Grenades.

Yeah it just needs to hit them, so grenades still work fine.

I was thinking instead of removing conditions invigorating bond could strip a few boons from opponents. I’m sure someone will say this doesn’t fit it thematically or whatever… I really don’t care, rangers need access to boon strip and that would be a decent mechanic/cooldown for it. Change the name if it bothers you.

If you’ve never killed someone with a sup ac then you haven’t hopped on one while running a condi build. If you want to see something really funny run as a condi ranger and drop a sun spirit before jumping on.

True, I noticed the damage was boosted when I was on my condi thief but that has indeed been a year ago, and back then we weren’t that sure about condi making a difference.

They definitely do. Being able to add burning to siege is super broken, I’m pretty sure thieves can add venoms as well but I haven’t tried it.

I wouldn’t like to see any buff on Ranger. Being farmed from extreme range while being harassed by attack drones isn’t fun. Rangers also have pretty rapid stealth, a speed signet and strong CC.

Were you around this game when the damage by ACs was buffed? Ever since then, ACs have been a big discourager of fights.

Do I need to know how subpar the damage of ACs was to judge how the now buffed damage of ACs is? I don’t think so. I know that one AC alone can’t kill anyone, I think even 2 usual ACs can’t kill anyone, but I’m not sure – 1 sup and one usual or 2 sup can kill, yes – but once upon a time we found our ways around it.

Edit: And like I said before: Always remember that there’s not only attackers but also defenders who are likely in the minority. So give them a chance to defend, golems made it hard enough.

If you’ve never killed someone with a sup ac then you haven’t hopped on one while running a condi build. If you want to see something really funny run as a condi ranger and drop a sun spirit before jumping on.

Wilderness knowledge with 1 survival skill seems kind of pointless, You could replace QZ with SoR and pick up EB, or since you are running multiple shouts you could change the runes to trooper and drop the WS line for MM. Remorseless would help you pack more of a punch.

I recently transferred my wife back to the server where we were from and paid 1k gems, now you guys lowered it to 500, sobs. About the new changes, I hope you guys realize that you guys killed alot of lower tier server populations. Hope some changes are reconsidered.

How does locking the higher tiers kill the lower tier population? If anyone new joins or anyone wants to move they have to go to an open server instead of waiting until 2 am to hop on a full server.

OK so let a guild commander and leader from DB give you some feedback instead of this sad bs. As for the blob thing, let me just say that yes we have blobs, and those blobs are getting more and more coordinated. The less experienced (fighters) are scrimming every week, the more experienced are coordinating with the less experienced more and more. DB was on the rise before the bandwagon begun, it’s why there are guild jumping ship to DB. Because DB has 2 things going for it:

1: A great community with a well-run alliance that is focused more on the community health and fun than the wvw victories, (we seriously discussed 2 weeks ago how badly we DIDNT want to rise too fast in the rankings, cause we just wanna have fun not deal with the crap)

2: Experience. DB and it’s long-time guilds have played with the best, and have played with the worst and everything in between. As one of the original WVW guilds on DB at launch, i can personally attest to this. As much as people like to hate on the “blob” we work well together with our guilds because most of the commanders have a ton of experience and know what works and what doesn’t.

Will we run blobs up and down your borderlands? Dam right we will, we’ll also make sure we have several scouts on all parts of the map, 2-5 havok groups roaming, flipping feeding info, and protecting stuff and then the blobs will exploit the openings when you look to respond. Not apologizing for good strategy, sorry to the servers that have been getting beaten, but this will be the first week with new transfers, so what have the last 3 weeks said with just original DB guilds?

Basically the state of DB wvw is very healthy right now, the TS is very active, the leadership has a solid head on its shoulders just looking for laughs and a good time for the entire community and all the guilds do a great job of communicating with each other in and out of wvw. (makes it handy when you can whisper all the commanders at once regardless of what they’re doing and let them know we’re about to lose bay, please send help, typically at least 20 players will show up to defend within seconds.)

Do we have flaws? of course. But DB is not full of blobbing noobs and it is not just some server that’s riding a wave. Anybody that has played this game for years and ACTUALLY paid attention will have a level of respect for DB guilds and their ability to perform effectively in WvW (shoutout to 2012 T2, good times.) Hopefully this was a bit more enlightening from a longest-time DB member.

Not perfect, but i promise you this: Very few servers can offer you the fun and entertainment as a community and a place to just straight enjoy GW2 in all it’s glory quite like DB can.

PS: As GFC commented above, our roamers are fantastic, but they really only come out to shine before and after the primetime fighting. I have a few roamers in my guild that are some of the best, as does a lot of the guilds on the server, it’s just how they enjoy spending time. It’s not uncommon to see groups of 2-5 players with different tags roaming around random BL’s just causing hell and looking for gudfights. WvW is home to those guys lol. That’s where they like to play. i have no comment on the new transfers quite yet as i’ve only had 2 opportunities to play with them thus far, but so far I have nothing bad to say, so that’s a good start

The reason DB won the past few weeks was because you have an OCX guild that is so terrible at fighting they decided to move to a server that has no competition in their time frame. That’s it. DH and AR could kick your butt all day but even if they both decided to focus you and keep you ticking 0 in prime time you would still win because they are splitting the PPT, they aren’t ticking 600 for hours like you do during OCX prime.

No one cares if you are “winning” in WvW. You are one of the absolute worst servers to fight because you are an extremely boring server. Your “guild” groups and nearly non existent roamers run from even number fights. 1 wipe and you voltron up or map hop to pvd instead of fighting. If there is 10 guys attacking a tower you will have 30 sitting on the wall building siege instead of fighting.

I wish the transfers meant you might get some decent players but decent players wouldn’t all bandwagon to one server. You are getting the same people that always hop on the karma train and ride it until they hit real competition and then move on to the next bandwagon.

I suggested something like this before, similar with how Engineer’s have an icon for Streamlined Kits. Would be nice to have. Icons displayed are Beastly Warden and Invigorating Bond.

Exactly what I had in mind. I was a little kittened off when I hopped on my engi after the patch and found they had an indicator for kinetic battery. Between that and all the ranger bugs all I could think was the ranger was a rush job, they got down to the deadline and said “screw it just turn in the changes the way they are, we’ll sort rangers out once we start working on druids”

Haha, i actually play pewpew myself from time to time, but i think its really too ez. There is literally no way to see it coming, a pet may just chase someone to autoatk or taunt. That it currently bypass dodges is a bug as i doubt its working as intended. It should be unblockable tho otherwise that trait will end being completely useless.

As for berserker f2 – i think its broken and berserk mode should have it taunt delayed. It is something i will be definitely pushing next beta if it doesnt work this way now. Then again im not sure how many warriors will pick that trait. Berserk mode lasts 15seconds, once that duration is over, berserk mode enters on 12cd+ require full adrenaline. Thats basically 27cd. Our taunt has 15cd. Stab in f2 looks way better at this point.

Or use cd of pet swap as indicator of rdy taunt.

Marksmanship may seem not optimal but trappers needs enlargement more than any other defensive trait and then Remorseless synergise with the whole skirmishing tree, the sigils, etc..
The theme is weapon swap basically

Also I don’t want to use wilderness knowledge til they fix its interraction with quickdraw and the throw torch issue

Remorseless does synergize with skirmishing… in a power build, not sure how it helps out with your condi build that has base power and ferocity. I mean, I guess it helps the pets hit harder but that doesn’t really seem worth the loss of WS or NM.

This is my sustain build without PW and without WS that has high damage all the time and is still extremely hard to kill.

Why not run any condi removal with 16k HP? Because of the evade on weapon skills combined with quickdraw see it’s not a damage trait only.
Empathic bond isn’t a very good condi removal trait in the first place I almost see no difference when not having it.
How does it work?
Constantly applying aoe chilll during fights on weapon swap, heal skill (run of grenth = awesome), frost trap. Lot of condis consistently, more than anyone can clear in a 1v1.
Impossible to stunlock (thx enlargement), huge heals combined with huge toughness and a lot of evade.
242ticks perma regen to you and your team, taunting people into traps, etc.
Traps are very fun in pvp for me as you have to think about where to place them effectively, prepare an ambush or just slow your ennemies etc.. while rotating around the map.

Marksmanship in this build just seems…… terrible. But whatever, have fun.

Sounds like DB is getting a bandwagon again.

Yeah lol AR and DH didn’t blob as much during the start of this week but we had to switch our playstyle because DB blobs are massive.

I’m serious. Three guilds from FA went to DB just within the past few days and there’s been quite a few posts on this forum from players asking about DB (like the OP).

I’ll never understand what goes through these peoples heads. A server in their tier gets a huge bandwagon ruining game play for everyone so they decide to move, which would make sense if they weren’t all jumping on the same server creating the exact same problem on a new tier.

Spread the kitten out for once. If you had filled in the other T5 servers instead of piling on the same one you could have balanced out T4 and 5 and had some nice variety in your match ups.

Of course Arius’s picture shows the quality of the players that are transferring to DB so I guess good fights aren’t what they are looking for. Have fun blobbing down smaller servers until you hit the point where you start getting crushed by servers with equal numbers and DB collapses once again.

So many rangers seem to have the abused spouse syndrome and are completely convinced that we don’t deserve nice things. The world won’t end if we get a straight buff without something being nerfed in exchange.

I’m a realist.
We had spike trap on reviving an ally ever since release. A meaningless trap until the update where it became an AoE knockdown.
What happened? We had it replaced with Search and Rescue.

So as a realist, let me ask you this.
Will you ask for a nice thing when you know you won’t get any, while risking the ability would become useless?
I wouldn’t and I never do.

The way I see it is if more rangers caused an uproar about stupid changes like this then they would pay more attention to the class and fix some of the problems. History has shown the best way to get a response from anet is to throw a huge kitten fit and blow the problem out of proportion, look at the HoT pre purchase, color commander tags, etc. for an example.

Every time they make a stupid change to rangers we have a bunch of people saying “well maybe it will get better soon…. since they are paying attention to us maybe they will fix some of the bugs that have been plaguing the class for months…” or “I know every other class has access to x ability but rangers shouldn’t have that because we don’t want the classes to be the same. It’s perfectly reasonable for us to be at a disadvantage as long as it makes us different.”

I think when people were asking for it to be classified as a trap they were hoping for the benefit of pre patch traps. Ground targeted, lower cooldown, stealth with trapper runes, etc.
How they managed to turn a perfectly viable heal into the broken mess it is now is astounding. They should just revert the way it functioned to pre patch and label it a trap.

Everyone on forum knows that we are not Elementalists, nor warriors. It was totally blindfolded to expect nothing but benefits without any drawbacks of the category with the change.
It was obvious the trap would become horrible after being turned into a trap system just because it would loose it’s instant benefits (arming time was declared long time before the update).

I was even against having it on ranged use because it would take more time to trigger (1 bonus click and travel time) which would make it worse for former usage.
As a realist, I wished for having the same functionality, but got disappointed to be outwished by people who wanted to have it overpowered (even though it’s still one of the best healing mechanics in the game with AoE cleanse and 10sec water field)

I thought the new thing for rangers and thieves was trapper runes?

Pretty mediocre now since you can’t throw traps. It used to be when you had a zerg chasing you you could throw a trap out of the way to keep from being revealed, now they just mow you down since the stealth is too short to lose them. Still works okay for trolling small groups.

Take a look at rage runes for extra crit damage and a flat 5% damage boost since perma fury is so easy to maintain.
A lot of rangers have also been running defender runes lately for a little more defense. I’ve personally been running trooper with we heal as one, guard, and strength of the pack. The short cooldown condi removal comes in very handy against enemies that rely on 1 condi like burn guards, plus it lets me drop the WS trait line for more damage.

Because developers were classifying all the skills with no category.
And this forum was just kind of over-flooded by people who wanted Healing Spring to become a trap.

So thinking that we received just what vast majority asked for – I don’t see any slightest possibility of getting our good Healing Spring back.

The skill is not that bad. It’s definitely twice as buggy and twice as clunky as it ever was… But it has it’s uses. Having it on 24sec CD and being able to pre-set it has it’s pros.

If you are able to have 1 set and your CD refreshes, you are able to cleanse 12 condis in 10 seconds in AoE. That’s not half bad. You’ll get into a situation like this only once out of 10 times… But hey, we got what we wanted right?
