I was inspired by Tragic Positive’s zoo bunker build and came up with the marauding zoo build http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vNAQJATRjUqQJL2wCusAVLGyEKPxTgG/rhF4x7kNAOgDWF5B-TZBFABCcIAEvMQbXBAAeAAzt/AA
This build has a ton of CC, good damage and with the tanky traits and all the body blocking it makes it a surprisingly good on point fighter. With “we heal as one” being traited for swiftness, swoop, and quickening zephyr you can rotate very quickly.
One of my favorite combos it to let the wolf open with its knockdown, rapid fire or maul as I swap to heyena for a second knockdown, entangle and use the f2 to taunt/ summon another heyena who will open with a third knockdown.

Were did you get the information about the hot trailer? And even if so, it doesn’t mean there won’t be a reveal next week. They don’t dare doing the 3. BWE without druid, that’s for sure. ^^
I saw the announcement yesterday on facebook. The trailer will be on twitch next friday.
For the beta? Not a chance. I highly doubt druid will be close to being ready in time for release, but that won’t stop them from tossing it in the game in whatever sorry state it is in.
Are you sure? What if they just say “sorry guys it’s not ready, keep playing regular ranger for a few more weeks”.
Well since the regular ranger still isn’t ready I stand by my statement.

well thats a major letdown if it is so this game will continue to have a toxic enviorment of 1 person on your team bringing down the entire team i dont care what bracket ur in
If you made a system where individual skill win or loss matterd then people would feel a greater need to play harder during losing matches and there for have a greater chance of bringing your team back from a seemingly lost game and you wouldnt feel angry at others for not doing their job during the match
Wow my dreams are broken i thought i could ignore bad players for once and just focus on my own skill/effort/achievements during matches
If they based it off of personal score it would lead to even more of those idiots that jump on a point you are already capping to improve their personal score.
Tool Belt Skill—Detection Pulse: Remove stealth from enemies in a large area.
On a short recharge, this toolbelt skill helps ensure that you are the one getting the drop on foes and not vice versa.
I recall posts from players suggesting “Guard!” have an AOE Reveal. Plenty thought that would be OP. At this point: whatever. Seems like another Ranger suggestion used towards another class. Let me open up more salt packets though…
That’s 3 ways to reveal that the engi has now…. With all their aoe they didn’t have a problem with stealth classes to begin with.
Hi all.
I play with an early start. But apparently not good enough I learned the game. Therefore, I ask the representatives of the guild [DYE], as well as the administration of the project to explain here what things:
1. Like not having a part Elementalist used for 8-10 people Ice Bow? While everyone?
2. How to kill this lineup blob of 20+ people for a few seconds? At the same time the sound was, and animation shots with onion ice was not. At the same time while in Stealth.
3. The skill of a class should be used to guard “Save yourself” imposes skill debuff? Pre-sound was like a trap thief.
I just really want to win as epic
P.S. Seriously, I urge the administration to see the project logs. Full feeling that used substitute packages. I see this for the first time since 2012.

If transferring became free what incentive would people have to balance out the servers rather than bandwagon onto a select few? Free transfers were a big part of the reason the servers became so imbalanced in the first place.
I don’t know, it is hit or miss but I usually see at least one other ranger most games. As someone said, they are typically LB focused but I see others. In fact, when they come across me they usually kitten a brick because I’m running a sustain / double melee build that totally throws them off. So the dialog starts after the came and idle chit chat follows – which is good.
To be honest I mostly play unranked and it is a toss up of who you are going to get. When I queue up with friends that is typically when I bust out the LB because I’m the primary damage dealer on the /assist. So in that case speed kills
I think maybe ranked you would find fewer of other classes because of the meta and/or favorites. But open/unranked, I think rangers are well represented.
I think I might have run into you a few days ago. Spent the last minute and a half on spirit watch fighting a double melee sustain ranger until the clock finally ran out. I was a little black asura running heyena and pirate runes.
The only issue is taunt working through dodge. With how core a mechanic dodging is, nothing in PvP should go through it. Only PvE enemies should have skills that work through dodge.
Taunt really isn’the that different from stun or fear otherwise.
I guarantee 90% of the people complaining here would still be qq’ing even if it didn’t go through dodge. For some reason they choose to ignore the slow moving pet meandering towards them and then complain about the “insta cast”.
If they are paying that little attention to the pet the dodge will only save them if they are randomly dodging and get lucky.
They are OP on Thieves.
Trust me if you’ve ever fought a trapper Thief that knows how to kite it’s absurd how often they can stealth.
Trapper Ranger is powerful but they lack stunbreaks and often have no active condition cleanse or stability. They’re easy to kill if you know how to fight them.
Trapper Thieves on the other hand, they have similar weaknesses but are way, way harder to pin down thanks to much higher stealth uptime, mobility and if they spec for power, damage as well.
I’d be pretty interested in seeing how condi trapper thief would do in PvP. Their damage is pretty mediocre and sitting in stealth just means they aren’t contesting the point. Then again, people are kind of forced to sit on point which makes it much easier for them to land caltrops.
It’s stupid how survivable the build is in WvW but it’s not realy good for anything but trolling people.
I dunno, I think they should try putting the runes in and if they end up being broken just remove them. As long as they add them for free and don’t make them one of those stupid runes you have to pay for there wouldn’t be a problem with giving them a trial run.
So the difference is between camping greatsword and camping longbow.
That’s pretty much it. I see longbow more as my sustain weapon when fighting small groups, rapid fire is too easy for players to negate, I much prefer drawing out their dodges and then nailing them with a remorseless maul.
Most players expect rangers to be easy pickings once they get in melee range, I like surprising them.
Hi rangers.
Long time necro here just wanted to pour my sympathy out to you guys and let you know I think it is kittening bullkitten that ranger is last to be released while other specialisations get to go through 3 beta weekends of constructive feedback whereas ranger will have one. I don’t even play ranger and I think this is stupid. Great job anet, letting down your playerbase once again.

Should post this in Necro forums for dev visibility.
lol it’s so sad that this is true.
I was talking from a PvP perspective. Trapper runes aren’t in sPvP, and I don’t think it should be for trapper ranger to be viable
While I agree being able to throw traps again would be waaaaaay friggin better, traps aren’t terrible in PvP. It helps that you know exactly where people will be standing.
Also if you are using trap runes, pets should kittening stealth when you do.
They should remove the direct damage like they did with thief traps so you don’t get revealed while using them.
Move [Trapper’s Expertise] to Grandmaster and move [Most Dangerous Game] to Adept. Improve Trapper’s Expertise.
That isn’t worth taking over quick draw.
Atleast the PU mesmers can be killed.
The perma stealth thiefs are near impossible
Give me a break, general level of PU mesmer is just zero, trapper thiefs existed before traits changes, and those guys worked on their build hard to make it work uncomparable to mesmers, who became monsters over night just because anet supports untested builds..
Are you joking? I had an extra set of trapper runes from some ranger gear I salvaged and I threw together a build in about 5 minutes. It is brain dead easy and unkillable unless an engi gets a lucky hit in to reveal you.
Both PU mes and condi trap thief take 0 skill to play. The only reason WvW isn’t completely overrun with them is because they aren’t effective against larger groups and in 1v1’s you can just walk away from them.

+1
They probably dropped a mountain on him like they did with the ranger in pvp
Yeah I still don’t understand the cooldown for spike trap. You’ve got a thief trap that knocks down and 1 that immobilizes on a 24 second cooldown. Plus neither of those deal direct damage so if you are running trapper runes you don’t get revealed.
You want to try something ridiculous try running a full dire thief with this set up http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vZAQBVSzEKbitNB7mA7TcITU+toN+QeO0C3gePniAA-TVA7AAw+DAA-w
It doesn’t get the burn damage the ranger brings but you don’t ever have to come out of stealth.
I say freeze applied opponents in a block of ice for 1.5-2 seconds, with 3-5 seconds of chill after the effects of ice block or breaking out with a stun break
Only with a cooldown increase and the freeze limited to ¾sec (tops). Even Necros don’t have it that good with Executioner’s Scythe or “Chilled to the Bone!”
Not too much of an increase. If you compare it to frostbow it seems like a pretty reasonable cooldown since they both use a utility slot but frostbow brings a whole lot more to the table than the trap does, including having deep freeze on the same cool down as frost trap.
My main gripe with taunt is that it forces your targeting on the taunter, which currently means Ranger pets. In that sense I’d say it is better than stun.
Yes but it’s much harder to land than most of the stuns in this game since it relies on an npc with terrible pathing to land it.
It is much easier to land than most stuns in the game since neither dodge nor blind works*
There are a ton of stuns, immobilize, etc. that can be activated from stealth giving you no warning what so ever. All you have to do to avoid beastly warden is be moving…. that’s it… you can literally avoid all damage from ranger pets by moving your character. This is especially easy to do in PvP where almost every point has small ledges or obstacles that a player can jump over but the pets will spend 20 minutes trying to get around.
Players have spent the past 3 years ignoring ranger pets because they were nerfed in PVP and there crappy ai, terrible pathing, and lack of cleave make it so they rarely hit anything. Well now you are forced to pay attention to them. Once you start doing that taunt becomes much less of a problem.
No, with beastmastery the pets are monsters that deal more damage than the ranger and are quick. Ranger needs teamplay buffs (teamfights, mobility) not the taunt which is overpowered in duels by far. I would prefer the taunt to be much bigger radius but trigger at the end of the pet f2 skill (so you can’t cancel cast it).
So you think pets deal more damage than rangers, they are fast, and rangers lack mobility……. riiiiiight…. You haven’t spent too much time playing a ranger have you?
Thousands of damage from pets is not uncommon to see in duels (if they use a bird). Ranger sucks in teams, not in duels, where the taunt is absolutely ridiculous.
Yeah I used to have a problem with taking damage from pets in 1v1’s too until I found this really helpful tactic. I put my fingers on the wasd keys and started pressing them, suddenly it was like the pets could barely hit me! You should try it out, it’s almost broken how well it works against pets.
Anet please nerf moving, it’s a hard counter to a pretty big chunk of ranger damage.
90% of the time I go remorseless. Guaranteed crit +25% damage, more vulnerability, I’m constantly thinking about what skills I’m using to proc fury and in what order, it’s just a better, more interesting trait.
LtW is just so boring and passive in comparison, only time I switch to LtW is if I’m trying to pick people off in a zerg.
I say freeze applied opponents in a block of ice for 1.5-2 seconds, with 3-5 seconds of chill after the effects of ice block or breaking out with a stun break
I like that. It could be like the frost bow 5 skill
No, it’s probably not going to get fixed. The mess that it is right now is the fix. This used to be my favorite healing skill. Now it’s just garbage.
Pick Beastmastery and trait “We Heal as One.” You can use it to grant swiftness and regen to everyone standing right next to you. Leave healing, condition removal, and group support to the main classes: Guardian, Warrior, Elementalist.
Well if they would just fix trooper runes we could make “we heal as one” provide group condi removal as well.
My main gripe with taunt is that it forces your targeting on the taunter, which currently means Ranger pets. In that sense I’d say it is better than stun.

I kind of disagree. Adding direct damage is what made this trap completely pointless in WvW since it now reveals you when using trapper runes.
What they should do is remove the damage and add something useful to it like a pulsing immobilize.
Remember when you could drop healing spring and use swoop to proc a leap finisher? Pepperidge Farms remembers.
It just occurred to me that I should be opening with the wolf and possibly landing a 3rd knockdown…
I’ve been using them in pvp recently (also with pirate runes lol) and I’ve been letting the hyena open with it’s knockdown, use the f2 to taunt and summon, and then the 2nd hyena will use its knockdown. If the chain lands I usually hit them with maul or rapid fire during it and then follow up with pbs our hilt bash.
It’s tough to land the entire chain but running the tanky traits with 3 pets body blocking is pretty fantastic for fighting on point.
Jcbroe already did that and they locked it.
My main gripe with taunt is that it forces your targeting on the taunter, which currently means Ranger pets. In that sense I’d say it is better than stun.

Also does anyone really know who is working on ranger?
I heard they went down to the local Home Depot and hired some day laborers.
I remember one time I was going to spike a Mesmer and I got chain CC by 4 moas, almost died too. The things are scary.
Was that in wvw? Those kitteners have killed me before by interrupting my heal while I was fighting someone.
If the timer goes above the average time you get a message that says you have been removed from the queue and must queue again which resets the timer. so i’m calling faked.
I’ve gone for 15 minutes without getting a message like that.
There is no way that video is of the staff auto-attack. The ranger was rooted in place and it had like a 3 second cast time.
That sounds about right to me.
I don’t run any duration decreasing food nor armor, haven’t done so for years. I just cleanse. Try it sometime.

The problem with the whole lockout idea is that we’re stuck on a tier which is slowly dying of attrition. Instead of creating several populated tiers as intended all the lockout has done is ensure yet another dead tier. It will take a long time for that to happen because of so many WvW centric players like myself not seeing a better option than to keep going, but I can already tell our coverage is slipping.
Very seldom in any situation does sabotaging what is already good actually improve situations that aren’t so good.
Except it is working. When T2 was destroyed by all of the bored T1 players that decided to bandwagon on to yaks, where do you think those players went? Silver and high bronze have been getting a bunch of players since the lock out.
Devourers because they are just terrible.
I would immediately start using pigs more if their foraged item replaced the f2 instead of dropping on the ground.
Just want to point out, bow isn’t actually bad for pve, some people just use it wrong. When you are doing group pve content you should be opening with rapid fire and barrage and then switching to your melee. The bow is only bad if you are trying to sit at max range and auto attack.
Also put a lot if thought into when it is okay to use your point blank shot, if everyone is dropping a crap ton of aoe on an enemy and you knock them out of it you will get a lot of rage. That being said PBS is the best skill in the game, especially when you are fighting someone next to a cliff in WvW.
I love these “can I get into T1” threads!
First of all it shows how broken Anet allowed the servers to become, getting players to stack into the top 3-4 servers.
And the typical excuse of “I want to play with my friend”, is yet again hilarious! You dont see such tantrums on other games, yet here it’s like they think it’s their right to get into T1, like there isnt another tier available. :P
Anet waited too long to lock servers this way, and by still charging gems for transfers after PvE gets megaservers, it’s just another slap in the face for WvW players.
But although I laugh at them I am getting tired of seeing them. A mod really need to make a stick saying Full servers are full for a reason, select another server!
Not everyone who plays GW2 is going to be interested in WvW and the players who are interested in WvW are going to stack on the servers that are also interested. Anet had nothing to do with players stacking on top tier servers and Anet has nothing to do with players continuing to try and join top tier servers. Tier 1 IS where the players who care most about WvW are going to be and there’s nothing wrong with other players who aren’t in Tier 1 wanting to be apart of that.
Stop trying to make yourself feel better about being on the server you’re on.
Bullkitten. The players that care about WvW realize it’s unhealthy for the game mode to try and over stack a handfull of servers.
Stop thinking you are something special because you paid to transfer.
fixing broken thread………
engineer and guard burns have absolutely nothing to do with it. in fact, top players use bunker guards and marauder engies. the signet necro works because it’s the only decent counter to d/d eles and other bunkers.
Sorry but exactly how does a Signet Necro counter bunkers? All it does is corrupt boons (with mediocre condi damage because it is played Celestial 99% of the time) and “reflect” conditions.
I thought boons were good?
Necromancer corrupts boons on enemies, meaning turns them into conditions; but the damage from celestial can usually be outhealed (or outcleansed) by bunker guards. They won’t kill the necro, but the necro cannot kill the bunker guard either. Or at least not in a time that matters.
But they can strip stability and force them off point long enough to decap
When the burning update came, they buffed all pet stats by 150.
Then in a later update, they did it again, buffed all stats by 150 because…?All pets got a massive damage boost, specifically in the Ferocity department. Pet’s Prowess gives pets a bonus 30% ferocity plus another 30% natural Ferocity thanks to those buffs for a staggering 210% critical damage. Plus if you use Hilt Bash, your pets next attack will do 50% more damage meaning that if you stun on your greatsword your pet can easily land an 8k+ critical.
So yeah, even though the birds only have 1,000 power they can still strike a 6k critical against decently armored players on top of an taunt that is completely unavoidable.
Buff rangers. Nerf pets.
They didn’t give pets free extra stats, beastmastery used to give you 300 stats for the pets, when they did the trait change they took away the stats and made 1 of the minor stats in BM give 150 to the pets. The other 150 was supposed to be made baseline but they forgot and left it bugged until a few patches ago. Pets have the same damage they always did but more people are traiting into BM since we have access to a third trait line and there are actually useful traits in that line now.
Edit: Umbra types faster than me.
Could also just simply be running a sigil of speed.
20sec swiftness after a kill.
If they just running camps/sentries/dolyaks with a reasonable kill speed it wouldn’t be too hard to hit a min swiftness on average I would think. More then that would be tough cause node cap time.I think I will try it and see for science.
Before the big “trait changes patch” I used to run with pack rune sigil of speed and the 30% boon duration from trait line. I could stack up to 4 – 4.5 min of swiftness by killing wvw wolves. Now i get prema swiftnees from shouts.
No testing needed I guess ;-)
Yeah pack runes would be amazing rune for the setup. I guess with all those stats there is a reason for the 5g price tag.Used to be much cheaper back in the days.
I got mine for dirt cheap but they are sitting on a set of WvW gear that is no longer useful. Can’t wait to be able to salvage that crap and get them back.
My main gripe with taunt is that it forces your targeting on the taunter, which currently means Ranger pets. In that sense I’d say it is better than stun.
Yes but it’s much harder to land than most of the stuns in this game since it relies on an npc with terrible pathing to land it.
put the bird on them, taunt, and stack some condis. dodge/kill illusions from distance. I guarantee they will reappear from stealth with half their health missing. birds hit light armor for like 5k minimum. but you really need to run a build that has plenty of evades, decent condi damage, and high vit (like my cele build). this was about 2 months ago, but I crushed Countless in under 25 seconds 1v1. not sure if people are running stronger condi builds now, but I’m sure it would be fine. don’t expect to kill a good condi Mesmer with a goofy, situational build.
Put a bird on it!
