Both those traits look just terrible.
They are.
I doubt there is ever a point where this is worth taking. I mean how much healing power would you have to have for this to out damage bountiful hunter? And if you did stack your healing power that high your direct damage would be so bad at that point that you might as well just pick up allies aid instead.
They either need to revert it to being based off vitality or change it so your condi damage gets the boost based off of healing power.
There is no defending this amount of quickness.
Stop. Its broken.
I applaud effort but the devs who allowed this to go through need to be fired.
Care to elaborate on that or is this just another, ”I don’t know what killed me and I am too lazy to try to figure it out and see if I can counter it, so I’m just going to qq for nerfs” posts?
Complains about people attacking something that they are defending and then chest thumps about PvE’ing an empty keep after everyone goes to sleep.

@ragnarox:
as i see you like to play guardian a lot,
guardians received a verry good shield buff on this patch,
i ask myself why no ranger should complain about the nice shield buffs on guardian,
because this buffs make shield a verry good counterplay to projectiles and to most ranger builds running around.so stop throwing stones on other professions
when your own profession get a pretty good shield buff on this patch aswell.Srry but perma quickness (more than 25 sec) is too good on a range class. You should know better. Even guardians quickness elite is nerfed because it was too good. (5 sec quickness on 30 sec cd and now on 45 sec).
This new shield is what shield supposed to be 3 years ago. We are guardian class so aegis and shield are our trademarks and one was bad for years.
And yes I play guardian a lot, my main class for over 2k+ matches played in pvp, and I do not fear against mesmers (which can do awesome dmg to me) and eles (you know why) but having a perma quicknes while you and your pet hitting like a truck 8k+ crits both, and you even can oneshot ppl, is something to look at.
So you wouldnt qq when lets say guardian pop up quickness and doing 10k Mighty blow and 4k autoattacks? cmon…
The big difference was guardian quickness was aoe….
Rangers are sacrificing a stun break, pet taunt, and their friggin heal to get the kind of quickness you are talking about.
I know everyone is used to rangers doing mediocre damage and having pets that missed nearly every attack on a moving target, but if a ranger is going to sacrifice so much to pull this build off there should be a good reward for the risk involved.
I’m a condi Mesmer and I don’t use stealth much at all. Confusion, torment and heal/sustain have all been hammered recently. Team heal was also axed to near uselessness. After this last patch, the condi reduction was enough that I can no longer break through the heal on ranger or guardian most of the time.
Back to post the last huge Confusion nerf. I persevered for years, hoping that one day anet would take pity on mesmer and allow me to have enough to actually challenge a warrior. For a while even the OG mesmers on forum advised not even trying.
I feel like those days are coming back.
Condi mesmer is one of, if not the easiest build in the game, especially since confusion now ticks passively…. You have complained about some dumb stuff in the past but this is just sad.
What about turkeys?
One of the funniest clips from the 1970s.
WKRP in Cincinnati! I loved that show as a kid.
We need pet turkeys
Uhmm Mesmer got stomped into the ground, again. Please check facts.
How? They received a ton of buffs and QoL changes. The only thing that took a hit was stealth duration, which really doesn’t affect PvP builds very much at all. You still get plenty of stealth to set up shatters and disengage, the only people this really hurts are crappy condi mesmers that camped stealth the entire fight and let the point get full capped.
You guys want to see something really funny take a look through the ops posting history. She used to go on non stop about the “homing missile pets” and how they would wreck her in stealth.
You’re just blindly defending a clearly broken thing because it allows you to practically one-shot people without much thought or effort.
What’s broken about it? There are plenty of classes that can boon stack without making themselves so vulnerable. All you are doing is spamming “It’s broken” in every thread you can without explaining why.
So what prof / build is doing well vs heavy condi pressure? Preferably one that can kill people, rather than act as nothing but condi-cleanse-bot (like shoutbow)
Necro. Transfer their own condi’s back and watch them burn.
The new heal as one is a pretty clear choice and IMO makes the shout spec alot more fun. Its a pretty big decision to make mid fight (do I use my heal to prep for offense or do I save it for defense). I like it. And thats after playing shouts for 3 years now.
Absolutely agree. So many of the other professions are just getting more and more passive “save their butt” traits added on and people are actually complaining because a ranger gets a damage boost after sacrificing a stun break and their heal….
your average mesmer and necro or any condition application will still eat this ranger for breakfast even so
thanks for wasting your heal and condi management tools for those boons
Pretty much the definition of risk vs reward
I don’t know what they did.. but that is totally unfair
This pretty much sums up this thread lol.
If you people would take the time to learn the class you wouldn’t be scared of the big bad rangers coming to get you.
Boon ranger for WvW roaming http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vNAQJATRnUqA9CilsAusActghMhyT8Eox/aYBm4OZDgD4gVJeA-TFDEABLqOie6AuUlACeAAbpE0gLBATKzmUFjmUa0mmgk2fAgjAAhAMvAA-w
Very high uptime of quickness, super speed, swiftness, regen, protection, fury, and good might stacking, great condi removal and 2 stunbreaks.
You can easily work in more zerk than what I am running, the traits, mobility and high protection uptime will help keep you alive. This is just the gear I already had on from a previous build.
edit: Forgot to add if you are solo roaming you should be taking bountiful hunter over allies aid for a pretty decent damage boost.
Edit 2: Never kittening mind, a bunch of cry babies blew up the forums complaining and some idiot decided to listen to them and nerf the build.
(edited by Puck.9612)
I don’t think some of you realize….
OUR PET also has access to this duration of quickness lol…. you know how much pressure that is being applied from ranger + a pet ON CRACK??
While its fun for us…. I can’t see the other guy you are 1v1ing being happy about it lol… they will blow their “oh crap button” aka endure pain/signet of stone and than 10 secs or so later, they will have to deal with a pet and ranger on crack AGAIN lmao.
Ya thats not gonna be fun…. (except for the ranger lol)
You also don’t realize how vulnerable to conditions we are if using this spec.
You also lose taunt if you spec for quickness, which makes you even more vulnerable.
Taunt finally became blockable/evade…. you know how easy it is for a good player to get away from taunt now??
You know how easy it was for good players to get away from taunt already?
It was only OP against the hordes of bad players that mistakenly believed themselves to be good and yet completely ignored the rangers pet.
This is why we can’t have nice things!
Extra heals will be useful in PvP and WvW, I couldn’t care less about PvE. I just hope celestial form is something that can be used as often as death shroud. If it takes so long to charge it that I can only use it once in a PvP match I will be pretty kittened off.
Celestial form gets powered by healing. So if you want to use it often, go full healer or go home.
And if I’m running a zoo build with traited HaO I can be applying regen to 4 characters (including myself) while fighting on point. If just 1 teammate shouted up I will be healing 5 characters. I imagine that will help fill up my cele bar quite a bit.
Maybe they’re just falling with style?
I have a scientific background. In third grade I made a paper mache volcano that actually erupted! Beat that.
Nurse Joy ahoy
Oh nice idea! I may have to make a new ranger called “Nurse Ratched” (feels more appropriate for a damage dealing druid.) Maybe mainhand axe, Nurse Ratched with a Hatchet.
I was thinking about naming one Doctor Druid, after one of the lamest marvel heros of all time.
Cool thing about tinfoil hats is that you can use them to cook with too.
How can you cook with them when they are on your head!? Or are you suggesting we should remove them and let the government read our thoughts? You work for them don’t you?
ranger noob trade the gurdian taps for heal lol
^Doesn’t know english?
ranger noob trade the gurdian taps for heal lol

I think the rate of building celestial force will be decent, because most of the time we’re healing and doing damage simultaneously. we’ll find out in a few days.
My fear is that if you don’t build to heal, then maybe you won’t get enough celestial force, I saw tons of heal with staff and some glyps, but what if I don’t want to use staff? What will be my sources of healing? So in the end druid may end being go healer or go home and that is all I don’t want, being pigeonholed in 1 role/gameplay.
I don’t see any reason why traited shouts shouldn’t work

ok, you are thinking the Druid as it is not. For sustain strong healing you have Ventari. Roy stated so. And sustained strong healing is what you need in PvP – WvW.
Druid is Burst healing and that is sporadically being able to heal you for 1000%.Seriously i don’t see any reasons why would you choose Druid over Ventari.
I already have a ton of sustain through low cooldown burst heal, regen, block, evade, cc, body blocking from pets, super speed to help me kite around on point, protection, weakness, and an invuln to direct damage. Having another way to burst heal is just icing on the cake.

I mean… it kind of has to be for the class not to be broken right? There is still just that lingering fear that they will screw it up.

yeah should have mentioned this is pvp only
Traited “We Heal as One” is the best heal we have and will provide you with the swiftness you need to rotate in PvP. QZ is pretty good to have on your bar as well.
Boring, uninspired, useful.
Not very interesting.
Could’ve been worse.
Not even a little bit. If you are having trouble with burn guards start using generosity sigils and watch them eat their own burns.
Where is the checkbox for “Druid looks boring and uninspired but I see the benefit in having it”?
But seriously, what will this settle? It’s not like someone is going to say, " well 55% of the people that voted seem to like the druid so I guess I should like it too." People are entitled to their own opinions.
you can build the druid offensively. celestial avatar has a lot of CC, self heal, and burst damage. it’s gonna be great, you’ll see when you test it.
Burst damage? I thought the only celestial skill that dealt any damage was the 5th skill and that was a 2-3 second channel. Wouldn’t exactly call that a burst.
Tidal Surge in CAF is a mobile water field that will also heal ~5-6k base. The difference between the fields/stuff that produces other group healing and the Druid’s Skills is that the Druid doesn’t require as much group coordination, it can simply burst heal people.
This.
There are a lot of situations, especially for small havoc groups, that having one person to burst heal an area is much more handy than trying to coordinate blasts in a water field.
For example, if your group is trying to stomp or rez someone that is downed and there is a lot of AoE on the body. Or if you are running from a zerg and someone has fallen behind a bit, being able to spam some 1200 range heals on him might be just enough to help him get back to safety.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a water field added to one of the glyphs though. Glyph of Tides sure as heck sounds like it should provide one.
Quick question, maybe I overread it somewhere.
Do we need a full bar to enter our astral form?
We don’t know yet
Just a suggestion to help those of us with multiple rangers.
Can unlocking the Juvenile Pets be account bound instead of character bound?
Only my 1st ranger currently has all the pets unlocked. My other 2 have about 4 or 5 each. What?! Collecting the pets is half the fun of rolling a new ranger.
Not if you are a WvW/PvP player. Maybe they should just unlock all the pets in WvW the same way they did in PvP. Leave the scavenger hunt to the PvE players.
I spend most of my time in WvW, but i just like the pet-taming ritual. I can see how it may be annoying if you refuse to enter a PvE map and level 1->80 using scrolls/tomes though. I level with a mix of scroll to 20, PvE, upleveled wvw and tomes, so at 80 i generally have a fair few pets already and plenty of waypoints around to quickly collect the one or two i need for a build.
I actually just finished leveling a ranger for the fifth time from a mix of tomes and solo roaming. The only thing more satisfying than winning a 1v2 as an uplevel is using point blank shot to send someone flying off a cliff.
I made sure to take plenty of screen shots of kills I made when I was level 30-60 lol.
But yeah, after fully leveling a ranger 5 times I am pretty sick of playing a running simulator across pve maps to have a working class mechanic.

Love the pets, excited for the balance changes, druid looks very boring but I see its value.

Oh that would be so nice.
Best advice anyone can give right now… Wait till after HoT comes out before you potentially waste money on equipment. Will be sooner than you think.
You aren’t paying for new equipment in PvP.
@op
Get rid of those devourers, they are terrible pets. Birds or canines will suit you much better. Drop marksmanship for BM, you can use the blind, or resounding timbre with “we heal as one” for better rotating, use wilting for weakness , and use taunt, although zephyr would work for your build as well.
MDG is an awful trait. Quickdraw is a thousand times better.
Another rune option is mad king, it works well with this type of build.
I’m assuming you’re using earth sigil? Maybe agony as well? you left them blank.
Greatsword staff with quickdraw and passive 33% speed buff.
All positive changes. Hopefully something other than pew pew will be viable soon.
Let’s just see some GS and shout changes next!
I really hope to see some Shout Changes, as well.
Anyways, Thank you Irenio!
Your effort is definitely appreciated.
Bare minimum increase the range and fix their interaction with trooper runes so you can cleanse allies
I am looking forward to the rage in WvW when rangers (druids) knockback the enemys out of the cordinated bomb.. Now rangers can be hated even more and not only for lb4
I doubt it will find its way onto many skill bars in WvW in its current form.
The only place I’d consider using it is in pvp to knock people off point….. But I doubt I will because it is so lackluster. It needs to be a stun break, or give protection/stability or something.
It would be amazing as a 600 range pull in WvW. Leap into an enemies back line while they are being well bombed and yank everyone into the middle of it.
Anyone know if we’ll be able to test out the new pets, hopefully without having to run around the new maps looking for them?
I would love to test them out in WvW.
im thinking there is a difference between whats in his alpha and what they had ready to present at the show.
Yeah but that could mean he had a blast finisher on it and they made him remove it, and he just forgot while talking about it. We’ll see in the next BWE.
What are you smoking? The staff is the best part of the spec…. Solid auto attack that cant be reflected, 1200 range movement + blast finisher and a projectile block. Also an extra situational heal with f5 then 4+3 and out of form will work great in any build.
Staff doesn’t have a blast finisher. The blast finisher is on the celestial skill. You don’t need the staff to use the celestial skills.
staff3 (astral grace) was described by Irenio as having a blast finisher during the reveal at ~3:40. It is not on the tooltip though.
Well let’s hope the stream was right and not the tooltip, although it would be easy for him to have confused the two since they are both the number 3 skill. A blast would be great with the new smoke field from the pet. What that skill really needs though is to be a teleport.
You actually bring up some good points about Glyph of Tides. However, I’m not sure how I feel about making the pull default outside of celestial form. I really like the idea of the knockback over the pull, in general. It has strong uses for escaping and for kiting if you decide to keep the bow. However, if you decide to swap the bow for a melee weapon then the pull is better than the knockback, I guess.
If you have the bow you already have a knockback. The pull would be great for setting up a MoC maul, pulling people into bonfire/traps, or pulling them point blank to get off a good splitblade. Heck you could pull everyone in close to make sure you hit them all with a taunt and some other pet CC while dealing your own damage.
I see in the snapshots the glyphs have a range of 300. That’s definitely too short you have to be in melee range.
Wouldn’t be better for them to have a range of 600? Keep in mind they still have the cap of targets.
Also the pull from the glyphs could greatly benefit of the extra range. At 300 you don’t need to do any pull.
+1. I’ve said the exact same thing in a few threads.
Think about it
Glyph of Tides: when do you want to pull people, when you are trying to heal yourself and allies, or when you are fighting and maybe just layed some traps? On the flip side if you or your ally is in trouble that AoE knockback would give you some breathing room to heal up.
You don’t need the extra healing from the glyphs in cele form, you need the damage so you still have some dps and can at least tag things in fights. All the healing the glyphs could provide when you are out of cele form would boost sustain and help recharge your f5.
Glyph of unity is pretty mediocre right now but if you could constantly heal yourself while tanking the damage it would become a fantastic skill.
Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a fix all for glyphs, I still think they need other benefits added, increased range or ground targeting, and the addition of pet specific boosts like a pet teleport, pet cc’s etc. , this was just something funny that I noticed.
Ooh! Instead of changing the animation maybe we can get rid of the crappy staff and get our hammers!!! Long live the bunny thumpers!
