Mistforged is HARDLY on the level of ascended/legendary or even exotic for that matter. Don’t compare rare weapons with lesser stats, it is not the same thing at all.
it its however WVW exclusive and in the case of gw2 which is a game more about skins than stats i feel its highly relevant to this converstion. I don’t ever WVW and so I will never have these skins. the same should be true of raid legendary armor.
Ok so you would be fine if they had announced Legendary would only be available via WvW ?
PvE players already cried rivers of tears because map completion included WvW.
I would be 100% in favor of that. if gw2 wants to live up to its philosophy of “play your way” then players should have incentive to excel to the highest level of whatever content they enjoy the most, PvP,PvE,WvW,jumping puzzles or what ever else they like.
That’s not what I’m suggesting. I’m saying they announced that Legendary Armor was available ONLY through WvW game play. You would be ok with this ? Do you think PvE players would scream foul and how unfair it is ?

I actually forgot they had an exotic version but even so comparing them to a legendary or ascended … not the same thing. Also it was based on tokens and win ratio’s, if I remember correctly you were punished and unable to obtain them for being on a less populated server. It was also time sensitive, not something you can work towards at your leisure.

You can’t get Fractal skins without playing fractals… some content needs its own exclusive rewards for incentive to play it… Otherwise raids would become like Triple Trouble, where no one does them except large guilds.
Legendary Armor wont have better stats that ascended armor.
exactly
Then once again, when is WvW going to get it’s turn ? It seems t be passed by EVERY time, it needs incentive to pull people in as well. I think its only fair and long over due for WvW to get some exclusive weapons/armor.
In other games the difference is they have different stats to suit different modes. This makes it easy to have a PvP exclusive set because its not useful for PvE and vice versa for Raid gear. GW2 does not follow this rule so at the very lest it should be split, say Chest and Feet from raids, Legs and Hands from WvW, and Helm and Shoulders from SPvP. Limiting the gear to one mode shows a lack of empathy and pretty much tells players of those modes that are ignored that they are second rate and not worth the Devs time, even if that is not the intention.
One would have thought Anet had learned this lesson by now.
All the need to do is add districts to OS like they had in GW1, GvG happening in District 1 ? NP go to District 2 and so on and so forth. Let people choose the district they want, in time players will label districts, 3 would become known for duels, 1 would be known for official GvG’s, 2 for scrims, ect ect ect. Of course making it cross server would be good as well.
You need to remember Anet makes a big chunk of change off of full guild transfers, some use gold but there is always some that buy gems. There really wouldn’t be a need for transfers for guilds if this was put in so I don’t see it happening.

Then they should really give WvW its own exclusive reward, it’s long over due. They seem to be the part of the player base that get shafted the most as far as rewards which really is ridiculous considering Anet chose to make 3 different game modes. All modes should provide a way to obtain the goodies. I’ve said it before, if tables were turned and Legendary armor was WvW exclusive the majority of the PvE crowd would absolutely lose their minds. At which point they would feel their complaints are perfectly legitimate because it suits them.
It will continue because players don’t take the steps they need to. You want change ? be proactive, don’t log in, don’t blindly pre-purchase xpacs, make it known that it’s unacceptable.
They don’t do their job because we allow it to continue, not only allow it we accept it and enable it.
I do not agree, while the door is open for abuse it’s Anet that opened that door. People shouldn’t be limited, Anet should be taking the initiative to hire some in game GM’s and take measures to control/police their decision. Stop accepting the lack of actions on Anets part and start demanding that they do their jobs.
My hopes are up for something to come, think of golem week and how that encouraged everyone to spend as many badges as possible.
Not sure if this is sarcasm, Golem week encouraged players to retain their badges because many chose not to log in.
No not boycotting, some are choosing not to purchase it because they aren’t convinced they need it (many WvW Players) some just don’t think it has $50 worth of content, and some are quite happy with it and eagerly waiting Oct 23.
All personal preferences, nothing wrong with any of them. It’s up to you to decide if it’s worth your $50 or not. Don’t base it off what others think.
Starting with 10 is smart, it’s enough that even casuals can throw together a pug group of 10 without much trouble. Who’s to say if there isn’t an overwhelming demand that they won’t increase difficulty and give it the option for 20 man.
It will be a nightmare, not because it’s Anet but it’s to be expected regardless of which company. I wont be skipping work to stare at my screen as the constant restarts and fixes happen. Now if it was a day off, sure why not but to take the day off is silly, by the time I get home they should be smoothing things out to playable.
Of course this is all speculation. If they can provide a perfectly smooth transition than good on Anet for being the first MMO company in history for releasing an xpac without a hitch.
How to get Legendary armor outside of raids?

The biggest issue with the “I hope you can only get it from raiding” mentality is, most are only saying this because it’s something they enjoy. Could you imagine the out cry and QQ that would accompany this announcement if instead of raids they announce that the armor would be available only through WvW game play or SPvP game play ?
I’m willing to be people would be singing a much different tune if this was the case. So before making comments about how it should only be available in a mode you enjoy, try to remember what it would be like for you if it was only available in a mode you hated.

For me its this way:
Chronomancer = Perfect
Berserker = Very Good, Rename the same called Gear Prefix to Barbaric/Brutal = Perfect
Reaper = Good, Rename the same called Title = Very Good
Tempest = Junk, Rename to Bender/Summoner = Good, + Mechanic Change = Very Good
Herald = Very Good, Rename Revenant to Herald and call Heralds instead Prophets = Perfect
Daredevil = Good, Rename it to Skirmisher = Very Good + Fix Acrobatics and give Skrimisher a Gameplay Changer for Steal and a 50/50 Mix of Counterattacks and Evasion = Perfect
Druid = Currently I’d say from the first look Good, depends on what the Pet Gameplay and Weapon Skills will be like
Forge = Currently I’d say from the first look Very Good, depends again on the Weapon Skills and the Main Mechanic Changes, but with Rename to Artificer I think I’d give it right away a Perfect
@ Random: Just people with no creativity would say that and die hard Dervish Fans, which still believe in it, that they will ever see them returning as an own playable Profession… if you don’t see the similarities between Dervish and Necromancer, then I must say that you are BLIND. Very blind.
1) Necromancers wield by design whenever they get to use their special mechanic a SCYTHE, the old dervishs iconic Weapon.
2) Said Necromancer Mechanic is useable to let the Class shapeshift, what was exactly the gameplay element of the Dervish
3) Dervishs used a power called Mysticism, Mysticism is nothing else, than Occultism, using supernatural unknown powers, which come from performing some occult rituals, like Sacrifice Rituals, in GW1 it was sacrificing Boons, a mechanic that fits feel for the Necromancer to sacrifice his boons that he receives to perform Mystic Powers
If Dervish does’t return as a Thief Specialization ,then is Necromancer the only most fittign alternative
5) Chill – Chilling Victory, which is actually a Skill, that returns now under the Necromancer Elite Specialization was one of the most iconic Dervish Skills in GW1 and dealt Cold Damage there, what is pretty much what woudl be Chill now for GW2https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occult#Occultism
The Gameplay of the old Dervish is what under this wiki link would be called Divination – being inspired by gods…, just that it got called for GW Mysticism what can be practically the same, using rituals to get inspired by the gods what turned out for GW1 that was all about humans there to shapeshift into Divine Avatars. But due to the gods beign a humans only thing, I can easily think of the universal racial Dervish using that ritual of mysticism not now to get inspired by Gods, but instead gettign inspired by Death, turning into the Avatar of Death, a Reaper of Grenth, making the term reaper just a lore bonded skill name instead of turning it into the Elite Profession Name, while one other term, the Dervish would return to its old nostalgia as necromancer elite specilization, just only with the difference, that he swings his scythe only when using the special mechanic of the class, while swinging in the normal form a more modern and fittign weapon with the greatsword instead.
The only thing that would Anet have to look at is adding into the gameplay of the elite spec the mechanic, that the class sacrifices somehow the boons that you receive when turning into the avatar form to become able to do something special that is better, so more boons you sacrificed at the moment of changing into the avatar form.
So you think taking a class and naming it another class that is already in the lore and also very different is creative ? As for similar, one is more condi based while the other is more boon based, polar opposites actually. I’m all for renaming it but if you can’t see the differences between the two or how using a previously created class name isn’t creative at all, than you are BLIND.
See how that works ?
Get rid of the crafting booths too. Sometimes I see people sitting in there while we are losing our stuff. Aren’t there enough places in PVE to do that.
Dunno if you knew, but there’s a hefty bonus chance to critical crafting based on War Score each server gets while in WvW. It’s one of the many WvW-only buffs.
The crafting one should be applied to all players in PvE based on their home server, as this then keeps people from creating unnecessary queues. I think the intention by the original developers was to have these bonuses be a reason for fighting, but since it’s not attributed to individual performance, you just see leeches jumping in for a while to get from 0-500 crafting and talking in map chat.
And some servers were trapped because they could not rise above their bracket or drop below their bracket during a tournament……
That is wrong. We had tournaments that literally used the exact winner moves up to the next tier and loser moved down a tier, every week of the tournament, precisely like the system your describing. Basically tournaments made population issues worse than they ever were.
It was an utter disaster. Just as I detailed in my post above. We very literally have tested this system through the tournaments, and it was a complete failure.
Using tournaments as an example is a poor decision, people over stacked servers which drained population from others. The difference in populations was far worse during tournaments. IF they get rid of or merge some of the servers that should sort itself out.
People already do this without tournaments. Stacking is the result of people just wanting a high population server and free wins for the sake of winning and steamrolling other people. Merges and constant fluctuations really won’t do much except demoralize people across the board for coming in second, because it pretty much leaves them no way to ever advance, as they’ll constantly be fighting against first place and a tier ahead of them, and subsequently, third will pretty much only have the ability to advance downward.
Yes they do BUT, we’re talking about Migration vs. Tournament stacking. The tourney stacking takes stacking to a whole new level, that’s the difference and also why it is a bad example to use.
Ya they do but it’s not typically on an alt account used for trolling. Do you have a better suggestion ? Limiting free accounts once you have announce it’s free is a game killer. Look at SWtOR free to play my @ ss, it’s hidden fees which kittened off a lot of their remaining customer base.

Just allow people with commander tags to salvage siege placed by their side. It wont solve the supply drain but it will prevent siege capping. They could add something that allows Commanders to deposit salvaged siege supplies back into tower/keep cache’s.
Don’t allow sub 25’s to use map chat this takes care of gold sellers for the most part, or whatever level they deem suitable.
First up, third down, it’s simple, clean, and easy, then we can ditch the Glicko system once and for all. When Hot Releases keep the one up, one down, one stays system and ditch 6-9 server worlds, people will be unhappy at first until they realize they can actually play against people again.
Players are passionate about their games, I don’t agree with all the rants that happen but it shows that the community cares.
You can still enter WvW via the LA ports at any level, which is a god sent for some of us who can’t be bothered with PvEwww. If I buy (or get a free) account I don’t want to spend a single second longer then I need to in PvE.
Newfie’s …. is there anything they can’t do to make you laugh.
They have to bring both classes to a sought after state for all game modes, there is a difference between being playable and being requested, in WvW they are both playable but no one really requests them. They require the most work, and as stated I wouldn’t be surprised if the Pet AI for Druid is part of the reason it is taking longer.
As someone who hasn’t purchased the xpac believe me when I say they need to convince me. My purchase of the xpac rests solely on the last two specializations, I am willing to wait and see though. These two classes have very niche roles in most game play, if they can break them out of that shell and it takes more time, then I’m ok with that.
Lets be perfectly honest the majority of the people complaining probably wouldn’t give feedback they might say this class sucks or this class is great but most won’t give any valid reason beyond being unhappy because it didn’t 1 shot that thing that 1 time. It’s a gimme gimme gimme scenario, of course this doesn’t apply to all but I’m willing to bet it’s the case for most even if they stomp their feet insisting that they want to test them. The people who will truly test are typically the ones who realized that testing a (possibly) unfinished product is counter productive and will wait until they are ready to be tested.
The sad fact about all this is I rarely agree with anything Anet does and am quite vocal about it, but for Engi & Ranger, they need to get it right this time so take as long as you need Anet.
It’s all speculation how far along the remaining two are, I’m sure Anet has their reason, whatever it may be. We don’t need to agree with it, it’s a closed beta, not an open beta, not a pre-release, it’s not uncommon for parts to be gradually added to closed betas as they become ready to test.

Under following points I’d be really happy now instead, if they get done until release of the expansion or somewhen soon after release date:
1) Rename the Berserker-Prefix of Equipment to Barbaric/Brutal/Slayer or Devastator
2) Rename the Daredevil to Skirmisher
3) Rename the Dragonjunker to either Seeker or Inquisitor and rename all the Trait Names about Hunter/Big Game Hunter and finalyl redesign the Elite Skill to be not siuch a huge super ugry illusionary dragon head that makes absolutely no sense.
In fact, just make this class congruent with the Main Profession style and design
4) Rename the Tempest to Bender or Summoner and change the Main Mechanic exchange to something different, that feels a bit more sprecial and gameplay more changing
5) Rename either the Reaper Title or the Reaper specialization to DervishSome of these renames would be simply good to prevent missunderstandings and confusions about these termsn and it would look just silly to run around as Reaper with a Reaper title that would make the game look just more consistent..
in general I’d find it bett,er if simpyl all upgrade prefixes get renamed to have no pression terms anymiore as words, but only Adverb Words, like Brutal and so on
Do not rename Reaper to Dervish, one day we might be lucky enough to see the real dervish introduced. Necro & Dervish are also 2 very different things even with specialization it would be an insult to the Dervish to make it a sub class of a Necro.
dude go read the freaking ranger forums or the CDI.
You think I have time to type out all the problems and flaws with rangers?
I’m not wasting time explaining it to someone when its already out there in the forums.
Again, I know ranger works in PvP ( I have a champion hunter title…)but its not good against high MMR team arenas. You HARDLY see it in tournaments. Why? because its simple – classes do everything ranger can do, except better.
I never said rangers couldn’t use a buff or that they are underpowered. i said they arent fundamentally flawed and broken. the former suggests needing a buff. The latter suggests they are unplayable, and that just isn’t the case.
Yes, sorry, but they are not broken. They are playable, and can indeed contribute to the game. Are they a little weak and need a buff? Probably. But considering its still a well-represented class in the game overall, it’s not ruined like you seem to be suggesting.
Actually fundamentally flawed and or broken doesn’t mean unplayable at all. Humans all have flaws and yet we function, we also break ourselves in many ways and yet life persists. There are broken mechanics in classes and they are still playable, there are flaws in every class and they are still playable, Rangers just seem to have the biggest flaws and broken mechanics. No one needs to provide you with anything, if you’re curious go take a gander at the Ranger forum posts both new and old.
Unplayable means unplayable.

So far the only class that for me that is an improvement/impressive is the Chronomancer. The rest are meh, seeing as I don’t play Mesmer I’m still not convinced why I should buy the xpac. We’ll see what the Druid and Forge bring to the table.
Its a valid complaint, even looking beyond the “But its not FAIR, I want to play my spec NOW!” stuff.
Being available in less BWEs means less time to test and give feedback, which means less polish and improvement.
Hopefully Engie and Ranger still get at least 2 BWE worth of testing, though. Still a lot less than the 4 some others will have gotten by that point, but hopefully enough to iron out most of the big issues.
So if they aren’t finished or ready for testing what do you propose ? They throw it in there so everyone can tell them what they already know, that they aren’t ready for testing ?
If they are ready then sure, I support getting them in for testing asap but if they are not, it seems kind of pointless to test what is not ready to be tested.
The trolling would be on a whole new level. If this wasn’t party only could you just imagine ?
Just for an example, there are already players that hate GvG and will go out of their way to troll them, give those players the ability to pull people on the same server and it would become the most abused skill in the game but for troll purposes. Thats only one example, some people like to troll just because they can, and technically you would have to prove they are trolling and not just being a nub which would be impossible.
They should have just kept Elementalist as Elementalist because the new spec is pretty craptastic and really doesn’t give it a specialization feel.
I think 5 tiers would be a perfect number, even T5 would have quite a bit more action in WvW, making all tiers enjoyable and populated.
The multiple accounts is definately a factor that I don’t think they can do anything about. Let’s face it, ET is not a medium server in NA.
From a Hype point of view, it kind of makes sense to leave these two classes for last. I’m not going to pretend to know a whole lot about PvE because I don’t do PvE, but from a WvW standpoint (these are the players needing the most convincing on why they need to purchase the xpac as we get pretty much everything we need except specialization without purchase) Engi & Ranger are the two classes that really don’t have a solid role in organized WvW. So they save them for last because they are the two classes that people are probably most interested in seeing what they have done for them.
Technically, amphibious would mean able to be used on land and in the water.
Technically it would mean you’re wielding a frog or amphibious creature whether dead or alive. I have to admit, smacking people in the face with a dead frog would make me laugh.
See my take on it is, many (not all) thieves wanted to be a thief and a sniper, they wanted god mode (maybe some didn’t realize this is what they were asking for), it just wasn’t good for the game to give a thief 1200 range with high damage without completely revamping the class to bring it in line.
Some people still don’t seem to grasp what giving them a rifle without overhauling the class would do to balance. You could say, “well just lower the damage of rifle” but then you would have the ones wanting god mode complaining because the Thief is suppose to be this burst god and their rifle doesn’t do the burst they want it to.
Some players realize what 1200 rng would mean for a thief and had plenty of good suggestions but whether good or bad those suggestions would be overwhelmed by QQ about the low Damage needed for thieves not to achieve god mode.
I actually enjoy the Ranger for Solo/Havok. It’s not because it’s the most OP or most optimal, I just find it enjoyable, but only in a small scale environment.
No I wasn’t, your topic is misleading. I assumed (incorrectly) that this was a list you were presenting.
OP, the ranger class in general has had a ton of feedback in 3 years. Anet hasn’t bothered with ranger feedback at all.
Druid would be no different.
Honestly speaking, switch classes. I did it months ago (ranger was main, now its Ele)
I don’t regret it.I enjoyed ranger, I really wanted to like it, but I gave up on it, just like anet did.
I main Ele for group play and Ranger for Solo/Havok. The Tempest was very VERY disappointing. So I’m praying they get the Druid right, if not, no point in purchasing the xpac, for me at least.
I wouldn’t doubt that, it’s late for them but still typically a few people running around during EST.
First place up, third place down, constant variety, no need for glicko, and purpose for winning the week (or losing).
It would hurt some servers but really with the way things are currently, servers get crappy match ups all the time.
For me, Druid is the make it or break it class for GW2, if they drop the ball I’m not purchasing the xpac and will probably say my goodbyes with GW2.
So if it takes them more time to fine tune and make it worth playing, I’m willing to wait.
What about the WvW stuff ? Provided the new map is open for play.
Your final point is something to worry about in regards to WvW. It’s a good list but try not to cherry pick the parts of the game that are important to you.
You’re both arguing over assumption.
Neither one of you have facts.
Neither one of you is right.
Neither one of you are wrong.
You’re both dragging out an argument that can’t be answered factually.
Stop the slap fight, you both look silly.
No one except Anet knows, any info we have, whether from Anet or Dulfy doesn’t specify that I have seen. So it’s either wait and see, or there is no change.
Short answer is yes.
The longer answer is, yes and no, while we are responsible for stacking servers and the likes, it is Anet’s responsibility to sheriff the game and make sure we don’t break it. They didn’t step in and prevent us from destroying it until it was to late.
It’s not that I am seeing a lot of PvD, it’s more that I am seeing the lack of playability at this time, which usually results in PvD because of the lack of players to fight.
I do alright mainly because I run around solo, and there are the odd solo/duo’s running around but it doesn’t seem there is anything substantial going on at our times.
Well according to the stuff on Dulfy’s site it seems to be Melee (not magical ranged) and the core mechanic appears to be more or less the same, Steal is still there and iniciative based traits/utilities.
I could just see it.
Anet: Ok guys/gals we are going to put Engi and Druid into the beta weekend but be forewarned they have not been finished and are still completely unplayable.
Players: Both Engi and Druid need a lot of work they seem to be unplayable.
Anet: As we stated both classes are unfinished and unplayable, but you all wanted fair equal test time.
Players: I don’t get it why would you put unplayable, unfinished classes in for testing, it makes no sense, what are we suppose to test ?
Anet: Ok next Beta weekend Engi’s and Druids will be removed from testing so we can finish working on them and make them playable so testing is more accurate.
Players: WHAT ! This is BS now they don’t get as much test time, it’s unfair, I want to play Engi or Druid.
Anet: ……..
