Already have kittenous regent/Condi build for soloing, seems as though a couple trait changes and swapping to staff will make it viable for organized large group play.
Oh my the 1 ability that Ele’s had is now nerfed whatever shall we do, it would make sense if they had … oh …. I don’t know, several other abilities but that’s just not the case. Oh wait after further searching I have come to the conclusion that Ele’s do indeed have several other abilities, who knew !
There is a large difference between Need and Want. Seriously this is stuff they teach in elementary school.
I don’t hate what they have done but, I have to agree it seems as if it was hastily done. Pets still haven’t been fixed, from the looks of it they didn’t even try and correct the biggest issue with Rangers. I’m lucky because I enjoy playing support/healing so the class suits me. For others that are not in my shoes I can completely empathize, the class, should they choose not to use the new elite is no better off than it was, its still broken and still sub par. Which brings me back to the class being hastily done, people had high hopes for not only the Druid but also the Ranger, I would be foolish to say Anet did anything other than dropping the ball yet again when it came to Ranger.
I look forward to not contributing to my zerker party mates and instead throwing rainbows in their faces just to rub it in.

Yeah this means many will be able to be “the healer” probably. The same way everybody is able to deal damage and don’t see people saying “lf1m ele ZERK OR KICK”
Once again, you see that because it is the most efficient/effective, it can be done without a specific setup though. People always want the path of least resistance, that doesn’t mean it is not possible by taking a different path.
Sometimes its good to take the scenic route rather than the highway that cuts off a fraction of time but is so much more boring.
TBH the day they announced Druid many months ago it was pretty common knowledge that it would be a support focused spec. It’s really not a surprise at all.

Your interpretation of what they promise is not the interpretation of everyone.
Druids actually were more known for their harmful medicines than their beneficial ones….. People weren’t flocking to the druids for miraculous healing but their enemies feared their harmful potions and poisons.
People weren’t flocking to them at all, they were widely considered Witches (Pagans). As for their Harmful potions, that is a myth, Druids were pacifists, they didn’t run around poisoning people, that was part of the “witch hunt” beliefs. They weren’t christian therefore they were witches who poisoned and killed small children and family pets while you slept.
Basically Druids were Pagans and even today Pagans are widely viewed as witch who worship the devil by those ignorant enough to believe it.
The general design of nature/astral is what they were referring to, nothing in this game is in line with the exacts of those classes/beliefs they may have actually existed.
Astral/Celestial were actually very much a part of druidism, as well as nature and as you said holistic medicine/remedies.
I’m happy with what they have done but I was expecting a full support type class. Now that I said that I will contradict myself a bit, I do feel it was lazy, instead of tackling the pet AI issues and/or giving us the option to not use a pet and have a different mechanic option they just slapped this together.
I can understand why others will be upset, the Ranger is still a piece of garbage and if you don’t like being support and do want to play the Ranger you’re still garbage in comparison to others. I was really hoping for an aspect system similar to attunements for Ele.
For me it’s a good thing I enjoy playing support, for others I can see it being a slap in the face.

Real druids were not reknowned as healers.
They also weren’t tree people, or tiny rat people, or cay people, they also didn’t come from the magical lang of tyria, they didn’t turn into faries, they didn’t shoot beams of light from a staff ….
Monks weren’t renowned as healers either
Warriors weren’t renowned as people who cleansed harmful conditions
Mesmers weren’t even a thing

Seriously just let go of the pets, you have yet to make them function as intended after 3 years.
In the end the idea of Druid could be great (and it is in general) but once again it will be the lack luster class because you refuse to acknowledge that pets are more of a problem than a solution.
The real problem is most people have no clue what an actual druid is, you’ve all been brainwashed by WoW and D&D’s kittenized versions. This is actually very much in line with what a Druid is/was. So your complaints are unfounded, do research, familiarize yourself with a real druid and then come back and delete your original post.

I agree, that’s why I said they need to be more Evade dependent.
I don’t agree, baddies might die off the initial strikes but the majority hate the fact that when it time to fight, poof reset, oh there he is, poof reset, oh there he is, poof reset …..
It’s the most cowardly class in any game I have ever played with little to no draw backs.
You need to stop focusing on just SPvP and realize its incredibly broken in WvW, the constant vanishes have little to do with SPvP because of map size and immediate surroundings. Give them a large area to work with and its broken as kitten.
No, you’re acting all aggrieved as if your precious class had the right to be immune from skills that unfairly target them above all others, and yet that is exactly what the thief does to many classes.
Honestly it’s more because I’m upset that Thieves are constantly getting nerfed, in ALL modes, just because people really hate getting hit by stealthed enemies in sPvP. It’s not that Thief stealth is unfair or unbalanced, it’s that it doesn’t feel good to get ambushed, to get caught unawares and not be able to react fast enough to mount a proper defense. There’s really no way for them to balance those feels.
I’m upset that the non-sneaky class is getting a MUCH better stealthing utility than anything Thieves have access to, AND a more interesting melee weapon than the Thieves are getting. I think we have every right to be quite upset.
Having a guaranteed cloak and dagger off dumb AI who can’t dodge it is about as predatory to a class’s mechanic as the engineers aoe reveal is.
Why? Keeping in mind that it only applies to PvP and who cares about that, all it does is Stealth the thief for a couple seconds. Big Whup. An Engineer can stealth himself and several of his friends for 30 seconds, and doesn’t even need to hit a pet for it.
And let’s be honest, this will hurt mesmers even more since their stealth is actually on long cd’s whereas all you need on a thief is to port away and BP>HS to start again.
To what end? Thieves can run away all they like, they’re very hard to pin down, but what does it matter if they can’t actually accomplish anything?
It’s not the being caught unaware, that is exactly how it should work. It’s the over abundance and availability to vanish at the drop of a hat. An opening strike is fine, the ability to vanish with a long CD as an Oh kitten button is fine, vanishing every couple seconds is a horrible mechanic. Every other MMO avoids this method for a very good reason, it’s not because they didn’t think of it, it’s just a crap mechanic. Add in the ability to break the sound barrier if a thief chooses to run and presto you have a recipe for ticked off players. Thieves should have less stealth dependence and more evade dependence. They should be able to spike from stealth then have a chance in a fight because they are hard to hit due to evades, not constant vanishes that are far to easy execute. Few classes can reveal, fewer can spam AoE, add in the ability to Stealth followed by SS away makes a thief with half a brain stupid to fight.
Regardless of what people think its “better” than. It does look pretty amazing, same guy worked on Druid so I have hope.
They are very different actually, Heavy Armor, Shouts, Condi Removal, Medi’s, damage prevention, the list goes on.
Engi’s might be more useful now for large group play, if you think for 1 second that you’re going to see Guardians disappear and Engi’s all over the place you’re sadly mistaken. Guardians are and will be for the foreseeable future, the backbone of groups.

I’m tired of the ranger complaints. I really am.
I’m very confident on my engineer. I win two thirds of the matches I play.
This has been my experience fighting rangers:
Most rangers I fight against: Pewpew with the longbow and never weapon swap. Ever. I just sit there and shake my head while I watch rangers kill themselves with rapid fire off my reflect wall. Obvious use of the wrong pet. Poor management of pets.
Some rangers I fight against: Weapon swap and often use greatsword or double axe, sometimes sword/warhorn. Clear knowledge of what pets to use in pvp. Lock down with pets or other immobilize and then attack from range. And when I go up against these guys, it’s a clear fight to the death and I’ve been absolutely destroyed at times by people who clearly know their class inside and out.
I can say this for every class really. There are those that understand their class and those that don’t. And while there are some classes that are a bit over on the power edge at the moment and allow for more sloppy play, the rest are pretty kitten equal.
i.e. this is a learn to play issue and nothing more.
30% of damage that may or may not hit regardless of blocks/evades IF the pet manages to path correctly to the target is not a L2P issue. Yes there are superb players that make it seem viable but even they are fighting you AND the mechanic. Do some more research, or maybe have your skill drop 30% of their damage more often than having that 30% of damage and then come back and tell us you’re happy with Engi.
When the Dev’s have agreed that there are glaring issue’s it’s pretty safe to say that this isn’t some imaginary concern related to L2P.
But ya what would the Ranger diehards and dev’s know, the Engi has told us otherwise so it must be true.

I play Ranger and was looking forward to seeing the reveal but to be perfectly honest this made me start laughing, I seriously hope they plan on a double reveal.

175 seems a bit much, especially for that large amount of players that do not like or want to have to PvE, we’re already forced to raid if we want Legendary armor (not complaining just stating a fact) I don’t think we should be forced to PvE to get the Hero points for our new specs as well.
Beta weekends are when you can make/play a Rev. I think the next one is not this weekend but the following, so the end of September.
If you’re looking for legitimate xp gain (no tomes) then I’d say EotM is probably the fastest XP. Jump on the karma train, do some sieging, watch your xp shoot through the roof at rapid rates. It’s not unusual for people to spend several hours in EotM on a weekend and gain 30+ levels in one sitting.
We have been told their plan id to focus on WvW after HoT, they haven’t gone into detail but they have said they will be looking into many things. Take that as you will but I think most are hoping for a large overhaul including but not limited to server population issues.
Ele’s have never had, nor ever will have, anything to complain about.
Not true, they have always been in a good spot but just because you are bitter doesn’t mean that they deserved the Tempest to be so disappointingly designed. I’m not saying all elites have to better than the original class but they should be on par. Tempest is not, TBH I really don’t even know wth the was going through the dev mind when designing the Tempest. Players do reserve the right to be unhappy with the new specialization when they are sub par and quite frankly seem to have had no thought put into it. This goes for all classes not just Ele, maybe you should put down the hatorade and hope for an all around well balanced and fun for everyone game.
I think its a good idea, imo they should do something along these lines for both Thief and Mes as well.
I like the part where standing still, mashing a couple keys, while mostly afk and barely paying attention became the definition of a good player.

It won’t be the savior, it will mix it up a bit with the new map and classes/specs. We’ll see what they do after HoT is out when they are suppose to focus on fixing WvW, that might be the savior depending on what they do and how seriously they plan to take it.
I think he is trying to say they didn’t have an Ele but an Icebow animation/sound was present. I have no idea what he’s saying about save yourself, and he believes they are abusing packets somehow, I think that is their IP not his.

Rev’s stab was meh, the timing on it is pretty lacking if your moving forward or god forbid you have swiftness up. If moving the majority lands behind the rev which may be fine for people following if rev is commanding but not so much for the Rev himself. If you have swiftness up theres a good chance you will outrun your own stability, making it a pointless utility for the Rev.
The engineer stealth does have a counter look for the drone its actually a double edged sword you will know where he is but you dont know how many he has with him
It’s not so much Engineers having stealth, I’m sure no ones intention is to take away from Engineers in general, it’s more the fact that the version of stealth in GW2 is obnoxious. The two classes that can stealth show that anet goes overboard, we simply don’t need more stealth in the game. Its nice to see they added a counter by making the drone visable but it still doesn’t change the fact that it’s simply not needed.
Why not just give everyone stealth, then we can all play avoid wars 2, fights can last 4 hours each resulting in no one dying because one person/side just gets bored and stealths away.
Yes there are counter but, I kind of agree, we really don’t need more stealth in the game.
Doesn’t bother me at all but for argument sake I would be fine with it being changed to Junker, Scrapsman, Forge, or whatever.
Can we cut it out with all the complaints about fairness. In all honestly I kinda hope ArenaNet takes note of this and dosen’t allow for any beta testing next expansion. People should be thankful that they get a chance to test the expansion contend and have an opinion. They could be more ‘fair’ and just give us no beta weekends and no specializations until release.
In all honesty I do not hope they do a beta in the next expansion because I think it is health for the game and makes the long time form announcement to release go by faster.
I am a Ranger main and I think all this whining about ‘unfairness’ is just downright silly and should stop. If you don’t have something nice/useful to say don’t say it.
You’re forgetting a major point, Beta testing was a selling point of the pre-purchase. I don’t know if they would have had the pre-sales they do now if they hadn’t offered it.
You also need to realize players are always the best testers, we find things that the Devs wouldn’t and would never have thought of. We determine the metas and the combo’s that in some cases make classes OP, usually its a combination of skills or abilities that Devs may have over looked. Dev’s also need to work, they can’t play all day and not do their work, they depend on us whether it is beta or not to give feedback so they can fix the things otherwise missed by them.
Complaining is part of the industry, it’s the same in any industry that has consumers, you’re always going to have a portion of people that are unhappy for one reason or another. Sometimes those complaints are 100% valid, some are not.
TLDR;
You say we should be thankful, no, we paid for the option to beta test, they should be thankful that we do test and we do give feedback, without the players feedback every MMO out there would be a complete mess. If you’re sick of reading the complaints, don’t read them.

They were just overhauled not to long ago so I would rather see them put work into other aspects of the game that have been neglected.
As for unlocking, this is really the only solution, the crafters/farmers will not be happy so maybe a compromise would be allow unlocks but make it character bound not account bound. I know a lot will want it account bound and I personally wouldnt mind it but as I said those people who make their money off crafting/farming will probably been in an uproar.
You do not get the new utility skills, elite traits, or the ability to use the new class weapon without the xpac.

There is nothing that’s better than ascended so I’m not sure what you’re talking about.Ascended will remain BiS after HoT and for the foreseeable future.
Technically legendary will be BiS, the stats will be the same as ascended however, if it works like weapons you will be able to change those stats on the fly without using the mystic toilet.
The ability to swap stats on the fly is what makes Legendary better than ascended.
