Did other players find Druid healing useful?

I’ll add that I believe my Druid partner was wearing Celestial Armor his jewelry, runes, and weapons weren’t celestial but I don’t know what he was running for them. According to him he found 7-800 Healing power was the sweet spot, anything more was a minimal difference.

In PvP and Roaming WvW yes, I ran the majority of the weekend with a Druid and I was playing Rev. The two classes worked very well together, at one point in WvW we fought about 10 players vs just the 2 of us, we didn’t win but we did manage to kill 3 of them and we didn’t die easily. Holding points together in PvP was fun, so many heals and boons flying around, it was hilarious.
I didn’t get to experiment with much more than that.
Op, the answers of both are awesome classes is not entirely true, they are fun yes but that doesn’t mean they are desired in all areas. It’s really important to figure out what you want to do.
Do you want to run in Zergs or Small Groups for WvW
Do you want to play higher end PvP or just some Hot Joins for some quick fun
What kind of PvE do you want to focus on ?
Do you want to play a class that is desired by other players ?
What do you want to focus on more WvW, PvP, or PvE ?
Answering those will let us give you a better answer.
You don’t want to sink a bunch of time into a class that you find out later is “the red headed step child” of GW2 classes.
It would be nice for OOC, I don’t see it causing any issues.
Also if they let us have to much before release players will forget that it’s actually part of the xpac and complain that there is not enough features.
Why would leveling not take place ?
Sure some of us are going to Tome all the way to 80 but that doesn’t mean leveling won’t happen for those that don’t have tomes or want to level the natural way.
Nope, its part of the expansion, it will be available when the expansion is released.
How’s about we just go with the obvious.
They felt the choices they made fit their vision.
There is more than 2H weapons in this game.
Mes & War already have 2 2H weapons at their disposal.
To make 1H weapons more popular/streamline.
Pick any one of the above for your answer, or all.
Really depends on what you want
Necro, is probably the more popular of the two. Once HoT is released it should take care of the Necro issues they had prior such as being a poor choice for PvE.
Ranger is looking better with the option to be a Druid come the release of HoT but if you don’t want to go Druid and just want to go Ranger, you will be average at best and will be passed up in parties for other classes.
I’ve already received Ascended gear in WvW on beta characters, best bet is to forgo looting or opening reward chests.
I don’t see why this couldn’t be a viable option, I don’t think any game mode should be left behind in favor of another. I like the idea of the Toggle, seems like an easy switch and give the players the option of how they want their arena to work.
As others have said, changes will happen so it’s best not to have anything written in stone.
With That Said.
Celestial Armor seemed to be an OK choice for Armor, mix the Jewelry, weapons, and runes to suit what you want to do.
Remove Player characters from Beta …
Mind Blown
Score measurements are the problem in particular Glicko. Nightcapping is part of the game, I don’t like it personally but I do understand that players shouldn’t be punished because of where they live or what hours they work.
Anet needs to get rid of Glicko period, I’m a firm believer that in a first up theird down scenario you wouldn’t see as much complaints. Some servers have more night presence than others, with a constant rotating match up schedule you’re less likely to be locked in against one of those servers for more than 1 week at a time.
This is just my opinion on certain matters brought up.
People are not taking into consideration one major point with the difference between Dire & Soldiers sets. For Dire you apply condi’s then you can focus solely on defensive abilities while the Condi’s do their thing with the occasional reapplication. Soldiers requires you to continuously be in offensive mode in order to do damage, you don’t have the luxury of running in circles focusing on only mitigation.
Its not the numbers, its how it preforms, so Dire is basically fire and forget, Soldiers is fire and keep on firing.
As for damage removing stealth, it does seem to make sense that damage would break stealth, however, this would make Condi builds pointless on a class with stealth. An alternative would be power based damage breaks stealth (as it already does now), Condi based damage breaks stealth after say 3 seconds (just grabbing a number out of thin air). You shouldn’t be able to remain in stealth for the duration of a condition but you should have at least some time for that Condi to ramp up a bit up Damage.
Burns:
They are over the top currently, people focus on burn because of this, don’t kid yourselves, players will always gravitate to what is OP because winning is fun. Truth hurts.
Mesmers:
Good Mesmers did just fine pre-patch the patch just made it face roll for those players. The rest did what players do in every game, they gravitated towards the current OP class. I’m not going to deny that Mesmers were Veil/Portal bots, I will point out that in organized play they were great for gank as well. With HoT being released they will no longer be limited to Veil/Portal, they now have wells which will greatly increase their group function.
There’s a lot of good points on both sides of the spectrum.
I’ll just leave this here, if you trully want to know what is OP just watch what players gravitate to, it is an undeniable measurement of what is OP.
I don’t think this will confuse people at all.
There was plenty of things that weren’t available to test, Nomads was not available either, several runes and sigils were left out. I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
First off it’s typical for new stuff to be OP in every game, over the next month or two it will be toned down, is this your first MMO ?
Second you’re over exaggerating, players don’t know how to combat the specs yet. Given time players with either realize the method to combat each spec or they will realize the spec truly is OP and needs to be toned down.
You post shows exactly how little you know about these specs.
Reaper seems to be the only one you actually pointed out the ability/trait that you felt was the problem and even then it seems you were to lazy to look up the name of the trait.
So ya let’s listen to the guy that can’t even bother to do some research about the classes he complains about. I seriously hope Anet ignores this thread based on the laziness of it.
I’ve been running Glint/Shiro and have been doing just fine, plenty of buffs and damage. I have been running with 1-2 other friends so we make sure to to run comps that compliment each other. Someone else has been taking care of the Condi cleansing, so far the setups we have ran have been pretty impressive.
oh man now yak slapper is going to be impossible to achieve ….
Ya the celestial part was annoying, it should function more like shroud.
Well said, it’s good you took the time to do this, most of us just scream and yell and it gets us no where, myself included.
Maybe if we keep this one polite and constructive they will at the very least consider some tweeks.
With the implementation of F2P and HoT on the horizon, new players are joining and coming back to find they cannot play WvW with their allies due to certain worlds being full. WvW population CAN be balanced, if there is no barrier and incentives are provided.
I’m certain that many WvW guilds that are on FULL servers would still love to have the ability to recruit new members. However they are unable to, due to the costs of transferring a whole guild to a new server.
A suggestion: Allow free transfers off of FULL worlds to any other worlds.
This change would remove the barrier and provide incentive for WvW guilds to move to different servers due to the fact they will now be able to recruit new members.Sorry but we have proven time and again that we, the players, cannot be trusted, we would just end up stacking somewhere else and be back to square one. Kills me to say it but we have no one to blame but ourselves.
Even if transfers off full servers was permanently (not a limited rush) free, and additional incentives for joining low pop servers was provided?
Yes even then, way back when transfers were free (I’m talking long before the tournaments) we stacked, we will always stack. A certain tier will be determined to be the “fights tier” and anyone who wants to play against the best will gravitate there. Or someone will come up with the bright idea that T1 needs to be changed up so everyone transfers to X server to start the pain train up to T1. Both have happened in the past on more than one occasion. YOU may be trustworthy not to do this but I think most players are not, as it is there is to many servers, if they would just merge or close a couple down with the option for those players only to transfer it would make a world of difference in the over all scheme.
Lets not forget, you and your friends transfering is money in Anets pocket, it’s a considerable amount. When you watch how many GvG guilds and stuff move around, they would be insane not to mention it would be a terrible business decision to give away all those dollars.

No thanks, how’s about we wait for testing to start ?
On paper, I’m happy with what they have done.
Ok…just be aware that once you start to make this content ‘open to everyone!!!1!’, that you can easily alienate the audience this was originally designed for.
I’m a relatively casual player due to my time constraints to play, but I want difficult content, which is why I was stoked for raids, but if this stuff becomes too available, it loses it’s sense of difficulty, even if you can just switch on a hard mode.
For example, here’s the moment I decided I was going to quit WoW:
I had been playing WoW for years and when Cataclysm came out, I was talked into doing the new Deathwing raid with the Looking For Raid tool, which had a dumbed down difficulty to make the content ‘accessible’. When I ran it, the mess of a pug cleared everything. I killed Deathwing himself with little more than tab targetting and the ability to form a mob of players. This killed all desire to return because even when I did the raid again on the hard mode, I just couldn’t take any of the content seriously. The fact that the whole difficult raid encounter was being cleared by players who didn’t encounter any difficulty just took away any legitimacy from the encounter.
I’m asking ArenaNet: Keep this as difficult content ONLY. Make this accessible to everyone and you’ll kill it for the dedicated raiders.
I agree, make them difficult, I don’t even PvE at all in this game because its boring. I’m also more casual now adays because of work and family, don’t make your raids a joke like your dungeons are, its not fun. I don’t want to be able to put on Netflix and semi pay attention to what’s going on because there’s no danger of wiping. I want to be able to enjoy more than just WvW, Fractals are monotonous even with difficulty increase, questing (or whatever you call it in GW2) is about as fun as a swimming in razor blades nude. Don’t cater to the lazy, cater to those who are looking to expand their experience in this game.
I’m willing to bet the raids will be do able without ascended gear or masteries in the beginning. As the start expanding on it might be more difficult but we will see, myself and friends will most likely start running them without masteries and in Exotic gear just to see what we can do.
Heavies:
Guardian – The old traits/specs will still be better than Dragonhunter, some people might enjoy the DH for a changed but it’s nothing in comparison with what Guardians bring already.
Warrior – Hard to say with this one, I don’t think you will be forced either way, both new and old traits/specs are optimal.
Revenant – I think the Herald will definitely be better, the entire class is new so the effects won’t be felt as much as others but, you would be silly not to grab the Herald line.
Mediums:
Engineer – We haven’t had a chance to test it but on paper it looks like Scrapper will be a much better Trait line and Spec than the older traits and specs. Time will tell.
Ranger – This one depends on the person, Rangers are sub-par, this is no secret, but that doesn’t mean unplayable. People who don’t like healing will play Ranger, those who don’t mind being Support will gravitate to Druid because it is (imo) the superior spec/traits.
Thief – I don’t play it enough to have a good opinion but I think this one will be a personal preference more than anything, I don’t have a very good opinion on this one, need some Thieves to chime in.
Clothies:
Mesmer – yes, Chronomancer has to much good to not be superior, I think this will be the go to trait line and spec.
Necro – I really think this one depends on the mode you play and how you play that mode. In Pve I think Reaper will be dominant over its older self the Necro. In WvW larger organized battles the old Necro will be dominant over Reaper simply because the reaper won’t live through the several engagements on the front line. In Small scale WvW it will be a player preference. PvP I think you will see Reaper become more dominant.
Ele – nope, maybe in smaller scale WvW and what not you will see Tempest shine but I don’t see how it will trump the old Ele, the old traits and specs are just to good and the Tempest is just to poorly thought out.
Summary of which new Specs will be dominant:
Gaurdian – no
Warrior – no, both new and old are viable.
Revenant – yes
Engi – yes
Ranger – yes
Thief – no familiar enough to give an honest opinion.
Mesmer – yes
Necro – depends on game mode
Ele – no
To all of you saying that if one can not handle the squad management that this new system will entail, then we shouldn’t command: I say you don’t command much yourselves.
(extra comentary)
It also seems to me that this was created more out of necessity for raids, rather than WvW, and it was expanded to accomodate the WvW community.Well, based on my WvW experience you are in the minority as far as how commanders operate. But no worries, you can simply tell the people who follow your tag to party up and don’t let them join your squad. There, see everyone can have it however they want. We get a far superior squad structure, you get to continue to use the old party structure. Everyone wins!
Whats the point, why not have the ability to remain in parties as well ? How does this hurt anything ? I personally would rather have the experienced players that know what their doing form their own parties and save me the headache.
Druid, Herald, Scrapper.
Herald – Boon Machine – yes
Druid – CC/Support/Heals, yes
Chronomancer – New Necro with more funsies – yes
Berzerker – Its a Warrior – yes
Scrapper – Hard to say but it looks pretty awesome so – yes
Reaper – Melee Necro I’m thinking wells will still be more important – Roaming
Daredevil – I don’t play thief so don’t know – Maybe Roaming
Tempest – Loooooool – Maybe Roaming
Dragon Hunter – I don’t even – Maybe roaming
I do believe there are restrictions so they have something to work with for future Specializations.
So they played the game ?
You think because they are from Anet they should have compassion and not join their server mates ? Or maybe they shouldn’t be allowed to use siege ?
Seriously, you got zerged, it happens all the time, siege gets used all the time, would you have QQ’d if it was a different guild ? Get over it.
Its a good idea on paper but as other have mentioned the no parties is a major flaw with the system. If I’m grouped with guild mates or friends I do not feel its productive to split us up because of squads, we simply won’t bother joining. I have a feeling many will take this stance and the whole system for WvW will become pointless.
Or raid call, there is plenty of options out there.
This would require in game mods/gm, they don’t even have gms in game to deal with all the exploits, I highly doubt they are going to take this 24/7 365 job on. And no you can’t trust players to moderate an in game voice system.
Haters gunna hate.
I think its really going to depend on how powerful their healing is. Currently 1 well placed water field from Ele can insta heal numerous people if blasts are on point. I think in a pug situation where most players don’t pay attention to field or bother blasting it will be good to keep the puts alive, but its going to have to be significant burst healing to trump water fields for organized groups.
From what i gather,
Guardians will stay guardians unless they wish they had rolled a ranger.
Rangers will stay Rangers unless they want to be a healer.
Thieves will stay thieves unless they… Ok who the hell knows what thieves will do.
Mesmers will not be seen…. Get it? Get it!?
Engineers will be stealth finding spam bots.
Elementalist will be wondering why they got another main hand dagger.
Necros will be going to town reaper style, since all they have ever wanted was to cut people up with over sized weaponary.
Pretty accurate.
We have been saying this for 3 years now.
Players who are new to or not very experienced in WvW simply do not grasp what they ask.
So you can identify with what the WvW community is saying, imagine if we (the WvW community) started asking that mega servers be taken away, that they should go back to how it was, this would probably benefit WvW as we could return to recruiting in PvE knowing that the people we get are indeed on our server. Now how many non WvW players would be unhappy with our request ? This is essentially what you are doing OP, you’re asking to change our game mode to cater to you without regard for those of us who have supported the mode from the beginning.
If you want to enjoy WvW that’s great, find a guild on your server and join them or convince your existing guild to transfer. Don’t make requests that benefit you because all of a sudden you want to go slumming and expect the WvW community to give you a thumbs up.
Look at EotM, it’s an abomination of WvW, I don’t speak for everyone but I think it’s safe to say the majority of WvW players (those of us who WvW 99% of the time) do not want anything like EotM to be integrated into the real WvW.
I’d be happier if they reverted back to the old PvE system and just got rid of Mega Servers tbh.
Well this thread went about as good as I expected it to, seems OP is REALLY out of touch with WvW.
Regardless of the need for gear its not a good excuse to turn potentially good competitive game mode into a piece of garbage where loot farming is considered ok. Like i said, it only takes a short time to get gear in PvE and removing it from WvW would promote better WvW.
This game offers some of the easiest ways to get gear and level characters. I can’t believe there are players who aren’t willing to do some PvE to get it.
For gold cost i can’t account anything but repairs and consumables. Everything else could be or have been changed.
Are you new to WvW ? I have literally never seen anyone farming mobs in WvW. As for getting gear easily, I have no desire to go PvE for gear regardless of how easy it is. #1 is a horrendous suggestion.
Greatsword+Staff would be great I think. It’s one of the few builds that can make the Primal Echoes trait (daze on staff swap) work reliably and therefore also the Ancient Seeds trait (immobilize). Notice how the build posted doesn’t use this trait, but a greatsword/sword+staff build could. Traited staff can daze every 10 seconds, but shortbow can only daze every 25 seconds.
Some might say you have to go condi because the Ancient Seeds trait has bleeding, but its real power is the immobilize. Hilt Bash can also trigger it, so not only on staff swap. You should probably go with Marksmanship for the +100% daze and +50% damage on interrupt. Also, Maul will be much easier to land on an immobilized target.
All Glyps also only have 300 range so perfectly suited for melee weapons like Greatsword. Glyph of the Tides (knockback+ power damage) and Glyph of Alignment (cripple+weakness+power damage) could be great. Let’s also not forget Glyph of Unity (retaliation). Glyph of Equality (daze+power damage) will do a 4s daze traited, but the cooldown may be too long. You can also make all these Glyphs remove 2 conditions on use, but you’d need to get your movement speed from elsewhere. Glyphs also have a low cooldown so they can be used often. Don’t forget Glyphs deal damage.
I think you should be able to come up with a Greatsword build that works.
Been working on it and you are correct, a GS/Staff build will be very possible. The only thing I’m wrestling with atm is, Range vs Melee. Staff seems to be designed to function better with some range, you’re a support so it kind of makes more sense to hang back with maybe a bow. Personally I am not a fan of either LB or SB but for staff to be used to its full potential I think giving yourself some range might be better.
With that said, I’m still working on a GS build, once the build editors are updated it will be a bit easier.
Don’t see the benefits of this build at all, LB is power based, Torch is condi based, you don’t have enough power or condi for either of them to be significant. Don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to bash your build, I just don’t understand what the though process is behind it.
Why are people even arguing, its simple. Wait for the xpac or beta weekend and test it, if you’re happy, continue playing, if you’re unhappy, quit and move on.
I sure wish there was more than just raids in this game, just imagine if there were pvp, wvw, dungeons, events, and many other things we could potentially do. I bet Druids would surely be useful somewhere if this were the case, its to bad that there are only raids in this game.
Thank you for speaking on behalf of everyone, I missed the meeting where we voted you in as our community voice.
There is nothing wrong with what they are doing, you can’t have challenging raids and or content with what we had. Realistically standing still and mashing a rotation is not challenging and quite frankly myself and some others find it dull and boring. I’m ok with them changing it up, so I hope you realize now that you do not speak for everyone.
Seems logical, so to clarify you’re not lockout of the raid instance itself just the rewards ?
That is correct. You will still be able to do the raids as many times as you want. You simply won’t get the special rewards for clearing it more than once per week.
Ah good, so you are at least still able to train and get better at them when you are not trying to get the rewards. And possibly help others in the process. That’s good.
Ya that was my concern as well.
Can someone give me a quick summary of lockouts. Don’t have y pc handy to search.
Basically you can only get the raid boss unique items once per week rather than being able to farm and get them x amount of times per week.
Seems logical, so to clarify you’re not lockout of the raid instance itself just the rewards ?
