The ferocity change is outrageous. I feel like the “10% dps loss overall” wasn’t properly explained. No one expected to lose over 30% crit damage, if they did people wouldn’t have remained quiet.

The ratio needs to somehow be changed. 15 ferocity for 1% crit damage is absurd. Make it 10 or give everyone with an ascended armor zerk set the option to change their stats. Right now I feel fooled and very unlikely to log into your game. I just have no motivation to do so anymore.

I mean everything was nerfed! Divinity runes, scholar runes, trinkets, ascended, even FOOD! Everything I own is now completely worthless. Sure we still do more damage as zerkers but the tradeoff is not worth it anymore.

Sure it is – it just means other builds are just as viable and that is the point. ‘Zerker’ is still the best but not by so much that it is all people have to run – that was the player defined meta not the game designer’s meta.

You know, you have to scramble some eggs to make an omelet. Time to really learn what your profession can do not just read some builds and use them.

I cringed at that part. I have over 2k hours on my elementalist FYI and I’ve never read or needed any build. Gotta love passive-aggressive forum warriors!

Zerkers give up any kind of survivability to do superior damage. That’s their tradeoff. The closer they get to the base crit damage (150%), the less effective zerkers are. What’s the point of going full glass cannon when a tankier balanced build takes as much damage as they deliver to me while being more tanky? This remained true even before the patch, and now the disadvantage is even more noticeable.

I liked this games pvp because there was a chance to burst people down in seconds, and now that’s way harder to do. It’s like anet loves 10 min whack-a-meat-shield style of fights, or of course the infamous condition builds that remain unnerfed! It’s gonna be so fun to try to kill Dire players with your wet noodle damage while they chip you away helplessly!

This nerf was unwarranted, unneeded, deceiving and only useful if their goal was to get people to quit. Seriously what purpose does it serve? Tell me what the goal of this nerf was, and tell me if it is actually gonna be accomplished.

Build diversity? People will be even more elitist now in pve, fights will take forever and no group will afford to carry dead weight. spvp was already ruled by condi builds before and now wvw will switch to that soon.

Harder pve content? They could’ve buffed the mobs durability instead.

I don’t see it. I just don’t see it. It’s like they simply destroyed the most popular build just because they felt like it. I can’t see any reason that justifies this decision… I understand big changes are sometimes needed and that people won’t be happy but I. Cannot. See. Why. This. Was. Needed.

I lost 37% Crit Damage

Im not upset with this, because everyoen is nerfed. Zerk got nerfed pretty badly though, my friend also lost close to 40% crit damage.

Remember that 150% is the base critical hit damage. The closer a zerker is to it, the least advantage they have over someone wearing little to no ferocity gear.

Zerker playstyle gave up on defensive stats to get a superior crit damage over soldiers / knights / rampager people. And even then it was not that rewarding because being glassy allowed enemy meat shields to also hit them for a decent amount of damage (while also being very vulnerable to other zerkers). Now the tradeoff is non existent and condition builds are even more powerful. One of the reasons why I enjoyed this game’s combat was the huge numbers. Pve or pvp, it feels great to see those 5k – 10k hits, Now we’r lucky to even hit over 7k. No more instadowning people, now it’s all about them meat shields mauling each other for 5 minutes before someone drops.

What awful balancing. Forget the bias and zerker hate because they kicked you or because of elitism. This isn’t how you balance a game. This is the beginning of the end for gw2 if they don’t at least let us re-select our ascended gear stats.

It isnt a 30% nerf in total damage at all. Plenty of examples in the forum here that its around a 12% nerf if you keep the same critical hit chance.

Old 1000 base dmg x 75% crit chance x 250% crit dmg = 1000 × 0.75 × 2.5 = 1850
New 1000 base dmg x 75% crit chance x 220% crit dmg = 1000 × 0.75 × 2.2 = 1675

1675/1850 × 100 = 88% of the dmg down from 100% of the dmg before.

This is a 12% reduction in dmg and not the 30% that it looks like…

I’m sure that most if not ALL of us expected a 10% crit damage reduction. I mean it was ferocity aka crit damage the only thing that was apparently changing.

Do you think that if any of us had any idea that the nerf would be so unforgivably harsh and gamebreaking, we would’ve remained quiet? Quiet as condition builds become the sole meta in both spvp (already were) and wvw?

I’m done lol, better revert it somehow or it’s bye bye.

In PvE people will still prefer zerkers over base crit damage people or condi users. But the 30% damage reduction will still hurt. Encounters will take ages now.

In WvW however… that’s where things get ugly. Condi outclasses power ridiculously hard now. Even the foods give less crit damage (only 5% crit dmg on the one that gave 100 prec and 10% crit dmg), everything was reduced.

spvp it’s not that bad because you don’t get foods and armor stats there. so the difference isn’t that noticeable.

well i suppose if you are running full zerker with no condi removals like a total scrub yea you will get kittenin rekt by conditions.

I have plenty of condition removals. Most players do but they still have a limited amount, while condition-inflicting moves are unlimited and often spammable for mindless condi users. Now it’s even easier for condi users to outlast power builds due to sheer DoT damage vs. lackluster power burst.

Crit damage reduction. We’ve been deceived.

Condi meta v2.0 begins!

Believe it or not the game will change drastically. Fights will last more in both pve and pvp, power builds will no longer have enough damage to bring down a condi build before they outlast them, removing a target from a fight is now much harder, etc.

I feel bad for hardcore wvw players and of course for myself, after only recently finishing my ascended set that now has 221% crit damage (71%) down from 251% (101%) with food!

I’m losing 30% overall crit damage. EVEN THE FOODS WERE NERFED BY 5% EACH ON AVERAGE LOL.

This is simply ridiculous. I have lost any and all interest to play this game. My wvw damage is barely higher than the max amount possible pre-ferocity change at the mists in spvp. Like, what? This can’t be serious.

10%… what a complete and utter lie. The difference between a knights / valk guy with 0% crit chance and a full zerk is smaller than ever. The gap between condition builds and power builds has been increased tenfold.

So not only did tankier builds already had an easier time surviving zerks since the damage mitigated > damage inflicted (0% crit dmg guy will still hit a glass cannon hard while a full glass cannon will hit back for the same amount or lower since the other guy is tanky, BUT the glass cannon also has less hp on top of that), but now it’s even easier! Good bye huge numbers and fun burst damage on my ele.

What a disgrace. I’m disgusted at this patch.

Dagger focus???

Focus has a lot of defensive options so going full glass becomes somewhat safer with all the invuln / reflections and blocks you can get from both the weapon set and the utility slots.

Some abilities are bad, like fire #4 though. While dagger off hand has no true lackluster abilities (Frost aura OP as hell) most of them are just centered around damage and more damage. Not everything has to spin around damage.

Gale -> burning speed bursts just as hard anyways.

Pretty much the only reason why people are against duels is:

They had terrible experiences in previous games where they got horribly trolled and probably cried themselves to sleep.

You people need to realize that any sort of new content has griefing / toxicity potential. Fractals, new dungeons, ascended gear, etc. ‘Toxic’ (I hate that word) people will always be around, it’s not like dueling would suddenly corrupt everyone.

The other reasons I’ve seen brought up are downright laughable, sorry.

At the end of the day it comes down to this: If you don’t like it, don’t do it. Nobody is forcing you to duel while you are denying a very large amount of people the right to have fun. Dueling has always been a feature present in mmos and this might sound harsh but the reason why it’s not here isn’t because you anti-duelers didn’t want to, it’s because ANet hasn’t implemented it yet due to time constraints.

With that out of the way, I’m gonna add my 2c on the dueling must have features / Restrictions:
-Disabled by default, but have hints for beginners that point out the existence of this feature.
-Disabled in cities (LA, Black citadel, Rata sum, etc)
-Create special arenas where you can duel / open world pvp (spread across the map and 1 in LA)
-All boons are removed as the duel countdown begins
-Do not keep any sort of dueling statistic or achievement in the profile (maybe a daily category at most like “win a duel”)
-Disable downed status for duels
-Duel automatically ends if either party start regenerating their health due to being out of combat. The player that is farthest from the dueling starting point (flag) is the loser.

That’d be all I think.

Rush: 40 seconds cooldown if it doesn’t hit a foe.
Savage leap: Requires a target.
Healing signet: Caps at 350 hp/s
Earthshaker: Cooldown increased to 15 seconds.

And everything will be fine in this world.

im fine with rush with 40 cd if it doesnt hit a foe, as long as it wont get affected by Chill or Cripple and getting its range and speed cut by 66% and ACTUALLY hit the target .

just like, say, ride the lightning.

Everyone always brings that up. I like how you try to put both classes on an equal ground when everything about warriors is better than eles. Okay so make it the way you propose, and while we’re at it also give eles 20k hp, stability traits, aoe stuns every 10 seconds, weapon swap and a low cd elite to abuse lyssa runes :^)

Earth, this one I don’t even know. I don’t even know how can people say that it sounds lackluster. It screams grossly overpowered to me and I’m considering abusing it. Can you imagine thieves backstabbing you for 2500 at most? It’s a ridiculous counter for power builds and even hurts condi builds that rely on applying stuff through crits.

The problem is the fact that Earth attunement skills offer no threat what so ever. So while you take less damage, you are also yourself much less of a threat. They can just continue to attack you until you are forced into changing Attunements to heal up at which point you are vulnerable to crits for at least 10seconds. That is enough time for at least 2 Backstabs and plenty of HS spamming.

Managing it intelligently can deny thousands of damage. I don’t think you seem to realize the difference between a 2500 damage backstab and a 6000 one.

Also, conjures.

Ok so my impressions so far:

General buffs:
Still sad that focus gets no love. Fire #4 and water #4 are boring and almost useless for what they do.

New traits:
I like the fire one. Though going 30 into fire for pvp as anything other than staff will hurt your survivability a lot, I like the risky playstyle and tradeoff present here (I wish more classes had this sort of tradeoffs). However, I won’t use it.

Air… I feel that there’s missing information. Perhaps this bolt does damage, or there’s something more to it, because right now it’s the worst out of these 5.

Any ranged class becomes a joke with focus off hand. You are pretty much immune to their damage 33% of the time out of a minute (swirling winds and magnetic aura, both with 25-30s cd iirc), or 18 seconds out of 60. Pretty massive imo and I don’t think engis equip bomb kit in wvw like they do in spvp too, because that’s their usual counter strat for focus offhand (I don’t wvw that much).

Magnetic aura or wave allows for some very funny plays. Nothing more satisfying than watching a brainless warrior pindown himself.

Can you guys stop trying to implement complex and “unique” mechanics that have absolutely no possibility of making it to the live game?

A single trait adding a counter minigame to your buff bar. Something that enemies must keep track of with no chance of counterplay. In some other thread a guy wanted a single GM arcana trait to give you access to a new set of 20 abilities (5 per attunement).

I mean, get real people.

Comet has a extremely small aoe. Making it a skillshot would be a ridic nerf against moving targets.

Same for dragon tooth. Right now you can hit people on walls on top of you with it. With ground targeting you wouldn’t be able to do that anymore, also I don’t see how ground targeting would make it easier to land it or anything among those lines. Sure you could do some area denial but sadly people can still move out of its pitifully tiny aoe.

This is about PvP btw, in PvE those buffs might be welcome but still lacking imo.

So you have a lot of boon duration and rely on dodges as well while having zero vigor uptime and crit chance.

Also no condition duration whatsoever. Your build lacks synergy big time :l

Yesterday I was theorycrafting a build at the mists. 20/0/10/10/30 with elemental surge and auto cleansing fire.

Glyph of elemental power, arcane power and arcane wave. Arcane abilities apply vulnerability in water and gain arcane power at 75% hp in arcana. Even that had more synergy yet I found it to be severely lacking. That was d/d too.

Condition builds on eles are just gimmicky and will die to any other actual condition build.

Must-have traits/skills?

From what I’ve seen, Mist Form appears to be a must-have skill. I can understand its use as a panic button in PvE, and it’s great for getting into a tower or keep that’s under siege in WvW.

But the most annoying thing I’ve seen in sPvP is something I call the “fogstomp.” Mist Form renders the elementalist invulnerable to all skill effects, so you can’t be knocked back, stunned, etc. I was playing a necromancer against a team with 3 elementalists, and whereas I could usually use my fear skills to interrupt a stomp and revive a teammate, these elementalists all used Mist Form and were completely uninterruptible. Seriously, I thought it was annoying when thieves would stealth-stomp, but at least they were still subject to non-targeted skill effects. The fogstomp is much worse, because it puts the other team in the infuriating position of not being able to do anything to stop what’s happening, regardless of skill(s). But I digress.

TL;DR: Mist Form is useful in a wide variety of situations.

Then you remember that it has a 75 seconds cooldown.

Gl fearing a warrior that autopops stability lol, or a thief using 50s cd shadowstep, or any class blinding you the moment you cast it (or d/p thief).

Distortion mesmer stomping is also a thing. It’s unfair to complain about using a 75s cd utility when other classes can do it as well and with lower cooldowns that don’t render them defenseless at the same time for future battles within its recharge durations.

By far obsidian flesh stomp is the funniest though.

On topic: Spam the fire trait line apparently its OP.

Ele is awesome to play. Its going to take at least 1000 hours of play to get good. You can do a little bit of everything and people find ele most fun to watch.

No kidding. I have 1400 hours on mine.

When I try to pvp on a different class it gets complicated. I can hardly remember but it must’ve been pretty kitten tough to fully learn all 20 skills for every weapon set as an Ele.

Unbelievable really. The amount of people resorting to the most unrealistic and far fetched reasons to not have duels astounds me.

I think my reasons are actually quite logical.

Assumptions cannot possibly be concrete evidence, no matter how “logical” they seem to you.

Yes, people don’t want it because it WILL effect the rest of the game. Either in terms of balance, or in terms of actual concerns being buried beneath a massive flood of duel-related whining.

How do you even live your everyday life with all these delusions inside your head? Just what evidence do you have to justify any of this?

One concern some against dueling have is how the dueling crowd will behave in the PvE environment. You certainly are not helping your cause with your attitude in this thread.

Do you think the sPvP people will abandon the mists to go duel exclusively in the open world? Do you think the people that do WvW will do the same?

Sorry if I don’t help my cause when you guys just keep spamming nonsense. None of this has any evidence of it happening. I could say that introducing new fractals could somehow ruin the whole thing and try to sound serious about it, but in the end it would still be nonsense.

I see duels as a sparring mode. You can test and train new combos, check out some damagenumbers on targets in full and realistic armor, including crits and conditions unlike those targetdummies.
The second use is for pure fun. How would it hurt anyone in this thread if I had a chance to duel my brother? Duels have never ruined anything in any game. There is nothing you can win or lose in a duel and nothing forces you to participate.
It’s really embarassing to see so many people actively fighting a feature- a toy- that by any means could never harm them. This is already like a religious thing. “We don’t want gays, because reasons! Deal with it!”

there is no good reason to put it in the open world, if you want duels then it should stay in a duel arena, not somewhere where whiny kids can spam and troll the heck out of players.

really, ppl whine that they don’t want things like any other MMO but the moment ppl talk about duels, the one thing that ruins any PvE experience, it’s all yay saying.
i say, IF duels are in the game, let’s go all the way and add mounts while we’re at it.
you want one thing, accept the other, not “one thing but not the other”.

What a fine logic. First of all, if you don’t want to meet trolls better quit the internet. And then why stop there? Let’s drop dungeons, gear, stats and WvW. Omg almost every MMO has professions and skills, even hostile NPCs! that’s way to mainstream!! Your “point” boils down to “either copy every single detail or open a new genre”.

That kind of reasoning really fits a whiny kid who spams and trolls people.

I’m still shocked that some people are actually against it. In 2012 and even 2013 people loved the idea and supported it massively, to this day I’m still waiting for the day that they implement it.

But now? Is this the new generation of gw2 players? The person you quoted sounds like the guy that joins a zerk only speedrun with his rampager rares and then whine because “trolls” kicked him asap. It’s really sad to see people frown upon cool features because of contrived and weird reasons that don’t even make sense.

Dueling in the open world to me is nothing more than a fun way to kill some time, to sit in weird places and fight it out while the 5th guy is on his way to CoF, or to try out some skirmishes before x world boss spawns, nothing important or serious. Leave those for the mists.

It must be painful to imagine how much these people must’ve been “trolled” by others in the past to outright refuse content where there’s a slight possibility of it happening again. Using that logic any new content would be a big NO since you can always get affected in some way!

No more new dungeons, there’s a risk of a guy kicking everyone at the end and ‘trolling’!
No more complex boss fights, some guy might screw it up purposefully!
No more LS, some guy will spoil it for everyone on release days!
No more new weapons, some guy might dump all his gold on them and proceed to control the market!

What’s up with all the negative nancies saying that dueling is a bad idea?

Are you honestly refusing a potential new feature? No matter how many times it’s been discussed, it’s been discussed that much because people WANT it.

Unbelievable really. The amount of people resorting to the most unrealistic and far fetched reasons to not have duels astounds me.

Dueling is a must-have feature in every mmo and its primary objective is fun only. It’s like another activity to do, but here the ever-so-bright casual pve masters think that a new metagame or pvp scene will develop from it lmfao. Too funny.

Revives are too fast

My proposal:

PvE / WvW:
After the 1st death, reviving is normal.
After the 2nd death, reviving is still normal.
After the 3rd death, reviving is no longer possible and you gotta waypoint.

The recently defeated debuff lasts for 30 minutes and it resets when you reach your 3rd and final death.

General:
Stomping speed increased (right now it’s 3 seconds, make it 2.5)

I’m aware that each reviver heals a downed (or dead) person for a percentage of their HP. But what if that amount scaled based on the # of healers?

Say a player has 50000 hp and is downed, and each player revive that person for 5000 hp on live servers right now

It could be changed so one guy heals for 4000
Two heal for 4500
Three heal for 4600
Four heal for 4750
Five and more heal for 5000

Lightning flash is fine. If anything I would make it a stun breaker again and trade it for glyph of elemental power.

Making it a blast finisher would defeat its purpose. A blink that has to be used point blank?

I’d say they’re fine.

+We have THREE sinks, 1 of them is aoe
+Jukemaster air #3
+Fire #2 -> Water #3 -> arcane wave -> water #5 for fire aura and lots of might (water #3 triggers 2x blast finishers)
+Water #5 used individually can deal absurd damage in certain situations
+Whirlpool is the best underwater elite in the game
+Earth #5 dark field for some stealth

It has weak skills that need fixing but nothing too big. Earth #3, Fire #5, Fire autoattack are among those. Earth #2 hitbox is also kinda annoying.

My favorite, is when they ask “What gear your wearing” I reply: “Zerk” (lol but its not) Finish dungeon as usual…and then at end you see chat saying “Zerk” FTW and “Thats why Zerk only is only way”

Meanwhile they dont realize atleast 2 out of the 5 were not wearing zerk gear.

Then gearcheck happens, and you get kicked horribly.

But hey at least you can call them names after that lol!

The thing about zerk is it doesnt really take any talent and just displays bad pve in the game I think. If you actually watch runs of official hardcore pve guilds (#lolhardcorepve), its pretty much full zerk with eles and fireswords, stacking a boss, timewarping, finished. Im actually embarassed as a player to see that in game as hardcore pve and id be embarassed to show my friends joining gw2 that this is hardcore pve. Hardcore pve should be hours of practice by a group of dedicated people to practice mechanics, positioning, build coordination, to kill a boss. Not skip 80% of the mobs and firesword the 2 bosses in the instance just to get done with your dungeon as quick as possible. I am glad they are nerfing zerk a tad and im sure future bosses will be designed to prevent zerk.

We have already seen that in today’s update that has the watchknights hit extremely hard(event to tanky people) at melee range. Thats not necessarily nerfing zerk but it is nerfing zerk warriors who go with hundred blades, stack 25 vulnerability and might, then hundred blades the enemy for 50k.

The AI mechanics are bad, what do you expect? To have people self handicapping themselves to make it look challenging? please.

You also make it sound like running full glass cannon is more forgiving than being a pvt bulky meatshield. One of those has less room for mistakes like it or not.

We can tell instantly when the pug/s are not in zerk.

How :o

Signets? Utilities? Foods? Ascended weapon color?

Lightningblaze do you even play spvp? or just wvw? because it’s completely different when you can’t instagib them in 2 air rotations.

Warriors are a extremely tough matchup especially if you aren’t using a ranged weapon.

As a mesmer main, this is a horrible idea. Mesmer is already viewed as a low skill class thanks to builds like PU running around, make it even more brainless and we might as well be renamed to warrior.

That may be, but it’s not viable. HS warriors are are a low-skill class and what is the story with them? Double warrior metas and an 8% HS nerf.

You tell me: Do you think ANet is raising the skill floor or lowering it?

Neither, because the gameplay and interactions remain unchanged.

Please link me to the part where they’re nerfing ele’s vigor. Unlike guardians and mesmers, eles have it on an adept trait and not a minor one (I actually wanna see if it’s true).

Anyways, can’t believe you compare me to the awful pvt noobs because I choose a healthy mix of damage and utility as opposed to 100% damage and 0 utility. I’ll remain versatile while you’ll just be a full dps guy. Why is that so wrong? Do you think that 4000-4200 attack (with might stacks) and 100% crit damage is perhaps low?

I’ve been against pvt and other people who refused to build berserker for the longest time, it’s kinda funny how the tables turn now… but whatever. Like I’ve said I always liked to bring utility even in moba games so if I had to choose between 8/10 damage and 6/10 utility or 10/10 damage and 3/10 utility… yup, the choice is simple.

I’ve read that already, and I facepalmed several times throughout. No one is denying that of course 30 in fire will do more damage in the long run, but to say the following:

" Offensive defense via the use of defensive conditions (chill, cripple, etc)" Yep, 1 extra second on conditions will save the day.
“Much greater group effect” TIL party fury > elemental attunement / healing ripple / diverse effects through EA / might stacks with huge uptime.
“Synergy everywhere” ok
“If we disregard unnecessary boons”

That last statement proves that the guy is only in for the damage (and of course most of those are just placeholder reasons). And while that is fine it certainly isn’t my approach.

If I had to choose between superb damage / limited utility and great damage / great utility, I’d go for the latter.

Eles are the jack of all trades after all~

Anyway, different playstyles. I’d like to think that I bring more to the table than just extreme raw damage and some occasional fury fields. It’s not like I hit like a wet noodle with 100% crit dmg either…

I’ve always assumed 30 points in fire and I’m sure they’re better than lingering elements and arcane precision but to be sure check 2 of the 3 stickies. There, you should find a long explanation why they are so amazing.

One final note, when anet nerfs vigour on crit by 50% and you no longer be able to dodge just to trigger ea, what will you do?

I’m still waiting for 2 good traits, not minor ones. I don’t think the chance to trigger flame barrier or sunspot are better than lingering and arcane precision respectively, as mediocre as those can be.

The only conjures I use are FGS and ice bow. So there go the extra conjure charges.

Are eles also getting hit in the vigor dept? So far I’ve only read about guardians and mesmers. They have vigor on minor traits unlike ele.

So far no conclusive evidence as to why the infamous fire trait line is so superior. Even if it’s better I don’t think it would be more than a slight advantage. You can’t compare spell slinger, internal fire or any master trait to elemental attunement. Fire gets better at 25 points and higher but in my opinion it still doesn’t justify the lackluster adept and master traits, the worthless condition duration and the lack of everything in other trait lines.

Bottom line is, I prefer more survivability, group support and versatility than simply being a 1/2 hit damage bot with fury combo fields. I’m not gonna lie, I’d probably not be able to survive as a full glass cannon (I already run full zerk) with 0 healing, garbage condition removal, terrible attunement swap rate and very low boon duration.
