im the opposite i find the warrior very simple and easy to play, however i play a mesmer, i believe its not the class but the level, im not an alter, i have 3 alts but it was a huge pain to level them, some people find it easy some dont

im not going to laugh, i had the same idea and i think its great, it offers an unlimited space to accommodate all the players, my favourite idea was that there were ship instances that had 5-10 ships in and you could see other ships with players on that would be so cool

oh and i dont mean to insult you over minstrel but i was just a bit twisted over preferring anomaly, maybe its because im a mesmer.

Sorry to burst your ego, but nobody else gives a kitten about a randoms shinies, it’s not 2012 anymore, legendaries don’t even cause people to turn their head any longer, and the more common ones have become invisible and no longer noticed.

“Showing off” a legendary would be getting the lessers ones such as Kamo, Kraitkin, Frenzy, Rodgort, Minstrel & Quip, rather than ones 10 people standing outside LA have equipped.

Hmm well, I haven’t been playing since 2012, so if legendaries were less common and harder to make then, I guess it was more spectacular to have one. I don’t care how you personally value legendaries. I know the time and effort put into mine, and I value them highly. I’m not spamming map chat with links of my weapons or constantly reminding people that I have them, like I’ve seen some people do. When I see another player with a legendary, I understand the effort they put forth. If they just bought gems to gold, hey they worked hard somewhere. I’m sure the person who made this thread would like it to be less about my ego, and more about helping him choose a legendary to make. Don’t you think so?

hey dont worry about it, i understand completely what you mean, its not about rubbing it in peoples faces its about wanting to share the experience, its one of the reasons its took me so long to get started on my next legendary, all my guild members record their videos, (im not going to post my first its waaaaay too embarrassing xD) theres a lot of people who will just not be bothered with getting one and thats fine, its a game after all, but i think its unfair when they ridicule other people after all the extremely hard work they put in, a legendary becomes part of your character, and thank you guys for the comments

Hmmm… thanks for all the feedback. I do not do fractals. I do spend quite a lot of time in WvW, but my PvP “abilities” are such that ascended armor wouldn’t really help, because let’s face it – if you don’t PvP and you come across a good PvP player, an extra bunch % of anything isn’t worth beans.

Maybe I should just use regular crafting to 400 to level up the thief and leave it at the 1 piece of ascended that dropped, and go for trinkets. I also don’t really want to spend hundreds of gold on increasing crafting from 400-500, because I’m trying to make a 2nd legendary weapon.

you my friend are intelligent, get something noticeable that you will enjoy and feel good about, ive put off A.Armor to get my 3rd – Rodgort and i wish you the best. Good Luck

Mesmers are extremely hard to deal with as a new player, at the higher end of the skill curve we are no more powerful tan any other class. The key to beat us is spotting the real mesmer which unfortunately only comes with practice.

Any time I see a mesmer say this, I immediately know they are no where near the higher end of the skill curve.

many skilled mesmers will be prepared for focus or bursts, i know my self that i have many different tricks up my sleeve but to be honest the guy has a point, theres truth to what he’s saying

more and more keys required skins have come out over time and it seems to have averaged out per skin, if you grab one at the start its a decent investment

Tbh i felt the blackwater was amazing for dueling but outside that i was a bit meh with it. If people want to leave the fight, they leave the fight, there is nothing you can really do about it.

Im playing a slight variant on the Blackwater atm, it’s still technically a PU build but with phantasm damage from duelist and zerker. So it’s a mix of condis and straight up direct damage, i find it a lot better for open world roaming but not as good for outright dueling. But im willing to take the extra deaths so i at least have a shot at stopping people from running with zerker, illusionary leap and magic bullet.

I played blackwater for a while. Then I realized that PU-Condi was a cheese build that allowed me to kill other players reliably with little or no actual skill or any possiblity of gain in personal skill. It was a decision, as a noob mesmer, that was friendly for noobs. It made sense to me at the time. As time passed I didn’t feel like I’d really beaten a skilled player when they died. 99% of the time I had just fired off a couple things and danced around while the condis killed them. It required almost no real skill to play, and I usually ended the fights with no real idea of how I’d actually killed them.

I dumped the condi build, salvaged the gear, went with a power build, and improved a ton as a player since I was actually forced to learn how to play the class. I also have no issue beating PU-Condi mesmers now.

Condi mesmer is a crutch and I almost feel bad for mesmers who lean on it.

im currently running a power PU build, give it a try, outnumbered situations become do-able if you carefully handle your cooldowns

well you could argue that the GS gets used the most, but they are equally equiped the most and i stand in towns with the sword/torch

Ascended armor has almost no stat advantage over exotics. The real advantage is that ascended stuff can be infused with agony resistance, which is needed for fractals. And if you do fractals, you will likely have more ascended drops later on.

Ascended trinkets are what makes the real stat difference. Check the stats on Wiki / Dulfy. Ascended trinkets can be bought from laurel vendors.

So you don’t really need to craft it yourself.

cmon you cant say they dont make a difference, it might only be 2% but its still a difference, even when you get the plus +5 toughness on each piece

As a Mesmer, I allways laugh about thieves, I wait till they come out of stealth (not that hard to predict) and let my phantasm kill them

Basicly a thief on the offensive can be evaded, dodged and kited until his stealth wears of. And I don’t even need to retarget him, for my clones are better than me in dealing dmg. I just wait with my GS until they pop shadow refuge and they are done… most of the times.

Then you’re one the few good ones out there. Most people just kitten around and don’t know what to do. The worst thing Evers is wasting a backstab on a clone because the Mesmer evades just when he’s suppose to >_< Allthough I usually just keep stealthing on your phantasms until I get myself positioned for a good combo

Hehe, I wouldn’t say I am one of the good ones, for I sucked after 1 month break over christmas and new year^^. I think I am the average and I meet mostly average thieves. Yesterday one thief tried to suprise me. But I heared him dodge, to get some speed I suppose, before he attacked. So he then backstabbed my clone from decoy. He then had trouble dealing with my duelist and zerker. His luck was, that I opened with the wrong weapon and had my weapon switch not ready when he used shadow refuge and he was able to run away. I have not seen him again^^

Haha, nice ^^ Yeah, most of the thieves I meet are below average skill level… There’s very few thieves that get me down in WvW, especially if I’m on my thief ;p

its the thieves that sprint for you back that are easy xD i alsways like trolling them with mantra toughness heals and spinning 360 degrees :P out heals them every time

Ive got a lot of gold together and am finished up on my exploration now, but what i need help with is deciding on which legendary i should choose, they are all equally used weps and equally amazing to me and i have different reasons why i would use them :C I already have twilight and bolt equiped to my mesmer.

Rodgort:
1 – would complete my build giving me a legendary in every wep slot
2 – dragons are cool
3 – design goes perfectly with the theme of my outfit
4 – extremely cheap pre saving me a lot of gold

Surise/eternity:
1 – Used to create eternity as my brother has it and he gets all teh attention :C darn his soul,
2 – eternity the ultimate legendary
3- very large footfalls
4- surise side doesnt go with my dark themed suit

Bifrost:
1 – used when needed to play defencively in place of the GS on my mesmer
2 – i gather bloodlust then switch to GS,
3 – goes really well with the mesmers effects
4 – when i switch to Staff instead of GS i have the crossing which makes my character look a little lackluster :C
5 – doesnt really go with the dark theme of my character

i equally want them all guys so please could you let me know what you would get in this situation?

funny because my SAB GS is account bound and can be equiped on different characters, yet my legendaries are soulbound, yay a crappy skin has a better functionality than something i spent a good chunk of my life crafting, not that im interested in putting them on other characters :S

agreed, as long as it can be toggled, ill never deny an option, it could be an option in the rank setup

im going for rodgort now and i hope they dont ever change it, its my 3rd (and curse myslef hopefully) final legendary a legendary in everyslot, dont mention underwater >:C…… well

maybe i could get the trident because thats just down right sexy but my point is, rodgort is the more piece of art weapons that are elegant and not all up in your grill (no pun intended) besides its footfall doesnt stack anyway, and the smoke that comes from it is just awesome

hmm im not sure, im after it at the moment as it is a little toned down, it is an offhand after all, and i think its a really elegant legendary shame the footfall doesnt stack with mainhand :C

its pretty cool now with my new build as i can out heal a thief’s dps, i think what people dont like about mesmers is that their functionality is harder to grasp than others, but this comes with both negatives and very unique bonuses

lanfear maybe you should of read the comments, youre missing my comment about gold bronze and silver that can be set next to whoever you want, however gold would be set to the leader by default, (max privileges) and there can be more than one gold

There wouldn’t be much point to clones if the enemy could just hold target on you all the time.
The very short periods of stealth allowed to the Mesmer are just there to break the target lock and give the clones a chance to confuse you.

As for clone damage: Clones are slow and clumsy. They need to get to melee range to hit you and they only have a few seconds life once they are commanded to ‘kill’. Just evade them.
Phantasms are a different matter – but they are easy to identify because they’re pink and transparent.

I rolled a Mes because I found them difficult to fight and wanted to find out their weaknesses. I suggest you do the same.

Not with staff clones. When you have multiple staff clones up they throw a kitten tons of conditions on you. <3 mesmer staff

dont bring up clone damage and phantasm damage, you should only focus on one as you can only really trait into one with PU, if you complete your PU build you will more than likely miss on quite a few major phantasm traits, your problem is not with PU as i can make a build without it that would do what you are explaining,

on my other point, youre focusing to kitten the best points of the mesmer, any class sounds OP when you do this maybe if someone reminded you the bad points and the negatives of what youre describing:

1 – little to no aoe without having to target someone.
2 – difficult to attack without having to target somone
3 – no chase utilities except blink
4 – if traited for PU phantasms are dramatically weaker than a true phantasms build
5 – Stealth uses your elite skill one utility and an offhand weapon slot
6 – More than likely you will take deceptive evasion which will also give away your position while in stealth

2 guild leaders is quite common tbh and they share the exact same rank so why not title such is the case in my guild, we’re brothers and we both have the guild leader rank, im the structure and knowledge of the guild and he is the face and oraganiser of the guild, so both would need the title.

its a difficult one indeed, probably the best way is just have bronze silver and gold circles that could appear next to the [guildtag] making it less of an eyesore, you can then attach the 2 lower colours to as many ranks as you want to signify to others rank quality

Ive been organising a duel night for the WvW matchup to take place inside the Obsidium sanctum GvG arena, theres currently quite a few people coming and id like to draw a bit more attention to it, it will take place on thursday at 10pm GMT:00 and everyone is welcome, there have been a few in the past but never one organised inside the duel arena so just a quick few rules if you fancy attending:
1) Stand in the podiums if you are just a spectator, we wouldnt want people interupting duels.
2) /point at someone to challenge and /point back if you accept, then take your place on the arena
3) when you are both positioned on the arena begin the duel by using the /bow emote, (once you bow you are signalling that you are 100% ready to duel and should wait for the other member to bow, once both party members have bowed the duel begins
4) no stomping please, have some respect for the other member
5) if you are taking part in a 2v2 or a 3v3 etc. the other team must be stomped to allow the res mechanic into play, the last enemy to get downed should be left to res himself as to res his teammates :P
6) and last but not least if you fancy trolling and running into the arena to try and get a few “easy” kills it would do well to remember that it will be a room full of avid and enthusiastic duellers
And that’s all, i really hope many of you can attend, events like these tend to encourage friendly and competitive behaviour between servers and are fun for both partys, (well all 3 parties).
