I am sure this was the original intent. However, since nearly every heavy and light armor set has a butt-cape, they wind up with almost the same basic profile as the medium trenchcoats. So it is still very difficult to decide at a glance what you are facing. So keeping the armor subclass looks separate is rather pointless.

its not about looks its about definition and discretion, i have the ability to learn the looks and determine myself, as soon as they are able to wear the same armour its imposible.

Just to be sure, yall are talking about Chillruption? If so, RedCobra, how long have ya been trying it? Builds like that tend to take a week or two to get attuned to.

the mind crush one i just cant ever imagine attuning to it, just doesn’t give out enough damage for the amount of toughness you sacrifice for the interrupts, you wont win against any decent 1v1’rs with it and you wont be much help in an outnumbered fight so it feels kinda trolly for me, don’t get me wrong i really enjoy it and its a game after all.

as for the chillruption, bit of a watered down phantasm build to attempt interuption, what use does the chill sigil have? its CD is 10secs, tbh if youre gonna go interupt you may aswell go all out, especially if youve already gone and eqiuped the staff,

0 gems. By the time I hit 80 on any character, I’m invested in that character and everything to do with that character, specifically AS that character. Changing the race would change the character. I do my research before I make any new character, and make sure I get it right at character creation. If I feel I can’t take a character all the way to 80, I’ll know before I hit level 20, and then it’s no loss to me to delete and re-roll.

thats the opposite effect, i doubt youve played one of your characters more than i have, i just want to renew the character thats all, i wouldnt mind trying out the other races without having to start again

id pay up to 2500 gems at most, ive longed to be an asuran xD but my human has everything, my explore my gear my ascended all the crafting proffessions and 1200 hours play time, not a chance in hell am i going to re-roll,

i built my mesmer originally as a commander (the frontline mesmer build) and i cant even begin to imagine how many times i was laughed at or ridiculed, with permanant protection and 3 clones up (which is easy to do) i have an effective armour of 5654 with staff im incredibilly survivable and can heal better than any other class on the game with around 15k hp every 15 seconds,

my point is, idiots play this game and enjoy pretending they know what theyre talking about, youre always gonna get sheep that follow the meta, but thats not what makes truly great players, it sounds like youve got a good build keep up the good work

This may sound dumb to some of you, but it is something that is really bothering me. I have looked up the damage formula for GW2 and it is…..

Damage done = (Weapon strength) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)

According to this formula, the Armor Value as it shows in your hero panel is al that is used when calculating damage mitigation.

Commanders on my realm (Maguuma) like to refer to front-line fighters as “Heavies” They may say something like “Heavies to the gate” etc. The majority of players that I have talked to on my realm say this only includes someone who wears heavy armor. Now, I have analyzed this from a numbers perspective. Looking at the difference between heavy and medium armors for example. On average, heavy armor has 25 more defense then medium. Since armor value is simply the sum of defense (from 6 armor pieces and shield) and toughness, that means that a medium armor wearer with a shield has 150 less potential armor. So all things being equal, I can see where a toon wearing heavy armor has a higher armor potential.

However, I look through a lot of builds and talk to people. And I see build choices being made that negate that potential. For example…..

Most of the guardians I see run 2H weapons. This means they do not have a shield. That drops 61 defense. Further more, many classes have the ability to trait for extra toughness while carrying a shield (usually 90 toughness). 90 + 61 is 151. That means that unless the guardian takes Strength in Numbers (which some don’t) then they are on and even playing field with the medium armor class now. mathematically.

I play an engineer. I have 3200+ armor, 24K HP and can heal for 30K+ every 16 secs. You cannot keep a condition on me. But yet other players claim that when the commander calls for “Heavies” to proceed, that I am not included. This is really irritating to me.

At this point I have gotten so frustrated by this seemingly close minded way of thinking that I am considering changing servers. Before I do something that drastic I wanted to post here and see if I am just missing some really important fact.

I can outlive and outheal guardians and warriors alike. I can clear condis fast and keep them off. I can heal and boon allies extremely well. I can pressure enemies with enough damage to make them pay attention to me and then I can stay alive while keeping that attention. So what else is required to be considered a front-line fighter.

Id like to know which you think is better out of the two rune sets, travellers or speed,

I run a Power PU build with the mantra tougness giving me an effective 3.8k armor

however it seems when coming across tankier builds (guardians/warriors) it can be a lengthy process it getting their health down, would travellers make much of a difference in dmg, i do like the idea of gaining another 15% boon duration on top of my already 30% but i dont like the idea of losing that extra 1650hp :C what do you guys think?

these are runal effects though, you cant compare them to traits, runal effects are available to all classes as traits are specific we dont increase the bleed on crit for the mesmer due to the earth sigil so why with the heal? the issue is that with this trait and the mantra of restore is that the mantra of resolve becomes replaced, this i disagree with, there needs to be an advantage of using the resolve mantra

Hi guys ive thought for a while on what would make you go crazy, seeing your own death, one holds one’s own life as their greatest treasure and valuable, the allaince and machinations are here atempt at avoiding the inevitable, however i believe that knowing this she will make her own death as part of her plan, the perfect ending, oh you got to beat scarlett that was her plan.

im guessing with how the character is portrayed it will follow the typical fight her at the last stand scene where the world is coming to an end and you have to defeat her after trying and failing at where you meet her ( her base or her lab or something) with her typical escape routine you meet her again when there is no time left, beat her and then the real plan unfolds.

no you wont lose anything, and you wont lose anything if you transfer either, if you transfer to Fissure of woe from vabbi, your items will stay in vabbi you will have a “second guild bank” on Fissure of woe, Hope this helps

Best way to find other girls in a game like this is voice chat. If you play WvW, ask someone if there’s a voice server to use. (Tarnished Coast uses mumble) Guilds are usually chill about females. 99% of the time it’s proven that they’re just as good if not better at the game than the guys in the guild, so we do value you gals!

correct, im pretty much undefeated in 1v1’s i cant be beaten, if i don get beat my tactics change and im certain to beat them the second and third time, however there was a girl who played a ranger ( a freaking ranger xD) that no matter what i did i couldnt win, i lost 5 times in row and accepted defeat, its equal potential in skill between sexes, however thats not what the OP was talking about :P

just be honest on your server, more than likely you’ll get pestered by a few guys but just ignore them, theres two girls in my guild and we dont pester its good for diversity i love all my members like they were my babies

you my friend are in luck 1200 hours on my mesmer now and im still not bored, i WvW a lot and perform several different roles, my favourite being zerg surfing :P its easy to harass large groups of enemies and down them, not only that i main a GS with the mesmer, always have always will, i have 20 different builds with the GS alone, the mesmer is the most versatile class there is and has the most builds

tell me about it dawdler, 10secs seems maybe a little harsh, im all for balance and agree menders with mantra is OP but maybe 5 secs as to not be able to have it the same as the mantra of resolve

When using GS you need to remember the best uses,
1# use at range for higher damage
2# use at close range for bounce damage and might stacking
3# use for the boon removal and part of burst, (works great on thieves and necros that use there stability state, stability tends to end up the only bon they have on at the time
4# cripple/you dont have to be facing your enemy to use not only that the beauty of phantasms is that they dont put you in combat, use that dont ignore it
5# select the opponent to fight, if used fast enough you can shut down a group if used fast enough with your aoe.

not only that but the 1200 range combined with mantra of pain can give out an absaloutly INSANE burst at extremly high range and ALWAYS has, sorry for caps but the burst at range has always allowed me to pop in and out of zergs picking out foes to down, its just too valuable and anyone who tells me otherwise can walk away

no ive been finding ways to make GS the best weapon since release, and it has, i can say ive made well over 20 different builds using the GS, just name your fancy and ill pull one up

after trying the build i can say while its hilariously funny, you are dead if youre focused in a group, you are dead if you come across 2 people at the same time, you are dead if trying to face a zerg, it seems that when hit by immobilise the pressure you can recieve in that short time can get you hurt badly,

i just think im too used to the mobility and trickery of illusionary leap, not too many mesmers use it right and just use it for an immob

actually i apologise :C i saw the build and other than 30 in chaos our traits and gear are completely different, how would you deal with an immobilise heavy group osi?

yeah its the 4 cond’s removed every 10secs that i use it for, it stops me from having to waste a utility on condiotion removal, but im afraid that now the cats out the bag it wont be long before mender’s purity gets a CD

They do not kick and sell (well most don’t). It’s just so easy to take a thief-Shadow Arrow)/mesmer (Blink)/elementalist (Lightning flash), [Edit, didn’t see video] bug through the floor to kill the boss underwater… that kicking people is not necessary (I bet not even effecient, it’s quicker to skip about 55% of the path).

I seriously doubt most path sellers are kicking their party and selling the instance. Otherwise there’d be a dozen topics here everyday about people getting kicked and the kickers listing the instance on the lfg.

ArenaNet was basically trying to fit everything they could think of into the eight professions of Guild Wars 2, and since chronomancer was obviously on their radar, it’s almost certain that they’ve incorporated the unique elements of the chronomancer into the existing professions (the mesmer’s Time Warp elite being a clear example) as much as GW2’s mechanics allow, just like the other professions that did not make it through. Certainly, there’s no real reason to think the chronomancer is more likely to become a new GW2 profession than the dervish or ritualist.

Personally, I’m inclined to think Scarlet’s fascination with clock-like things is less about time and more about clockwork. From their invention up until the Industrial Revolution (and significantly into that as well) clocks were basically the poster child for complex fine engineering – hence the broadening of the term “clockwork” to cover things that are not necessarily the insides of a clock – thus, her liking for clockwork is probably more symbolic of her appreciation of how things are put together than because of the association with time.

I’m working on this now. I’d support adding a little extra oomph to it. It may be an offhand weapon, but it still costs an arm and a leg to make and takes the same amount of time as any other legendary.

with dusk being 800g and rodgorts flame costing 72g i can guarentee the two legendaries dont take the same time

No, that’s ridiculous. Practically no one would if it gave a visual disadvantage… so the thought of adding a slider that only a fraction of a percent would use seems like it fails the risk/reward sniff test.

Just a slider? The biggest problem with adding just a slider to change how dark it appears on your screen is that you can’t do anything with it. It would always be just a slider, nothing more. You can’t use the slider to trigger new mobs to spawn at night. You can’t use it to trigger new events at night. You can’t use it to see the moon change phases every couple nights. It’s just a little sliding bar on an options page somewhere that adds nothing to the overall content of the game.

i believe lighting adds immersion, but each to their own

either airships or floating cities, you need a location that can effectively have infinite space allowing an infinite number of guild halls for players, the whole instance stuff is old and boring, we want to feel that our halls are connected to the world and ships are the only lore friendly way of doing this

i can assure you the price rise isnt to do with speculation or manipulators, precursor crafting has been promised by the devs giving an almost confirmation of a way to get it without having to gamble, this encourages players to hold onto their gold and stay away from RNG, this is causing a drop in supply raising the price, from my knowledge the average drop price of a precursor in the forge is around 450g – 600g, meaning that effectively you can make money if you have average luck, the scare of losing it along with the alure of crafting is making the forge a very unpopular method.

Not really. Nobody was forced to make a legendary. And the amount of people who are selling a precursor are faaaar in the minority compared to people who can’t afford one. I would say 0,5% of players maybe.

im telling you now, if they made pre’s that easy to get id want my 1500g back >:C

shame i know, sometimes i think im the only male serious mesmer (human) i hate the blasted asuran mesmers, its just an atempt to confuse the enemy even more, for some reason when people roll female mesmers generally they dont tend to be maining it, the best mesmers ive duelled against have been male human and male sylvari

sub classes would be perfect, im just thinking of it now, mesmer warrior or wait mesmer necro, stealth and fear omg

dont worry, ive known anet for a while, id bet my life that theyll do something similar to this however it will be a game saver, as in when they are loosing sales, so dont expect it anytime soon, id say in another year or 2 probably, same for dueling

it is if you don’t waste anything, too many players complain about wanting a legendary but not being able to get it, they dont REALLY want it, i wanted it so bad i put off getting things like fancy skins and QoL items, thats what you have to do if you want one, , play the market, do 2-3 dungeons a day, complete your daily trade tokens for exo’s theres plenty you can do, just save it dont be tempted to waste it.

Ya, even in beta I didn’t find any of the other classes very fun, all condi builds are for bads too so I can only really play guardian, war or power necro since stealth classes are also for bads :/

depends what you do with stealth, if you troll one guy then shame on you but if you use it to fight in outnumbered situations and come out on top then yay

I can attest to this. I remember the early videos highlighting night and day in GW2 and being absolutely stoked about this visual mechanic.

A bit darker would signify that it’s actually night time.

But to go even further with this, I would love to see the following:

1. A variation of creatures from night to day, such as ghouls and goons (well maybe not goons), bats, trolls, etc.
2. Weapons such as torches being an advantage at night, or weapons with light affects.

agreed i love using my torch inthe EB JP its funny watching players grab them when i dont need to

they just need a cooldown instead of a stack, the stack doesnt let you CC the boss when you need to, a CD per player would be perfect

after getting 2 and going for my 3rd id say buy it, get your pre first, dont be one of those fools that leave it until the end, 800g isnt so much when you save for that first, place it in your mind that once you have your pre it will be an easy walk from there, and it will because it will be step by step materials, rodgorts flame is mine xD but dusk and zap werent so easy, get your pre first
