I actually find it funny how delusional some people are on the forums.
The current condi necro meta beats druid support on point 1v1 (not in an arena like most plebs here think 1v1 means).

Druid relies heavily on their ability to stack might during a 1v1 to win it. ofc i easily beat most necros because they dont understand what they need to be doing to win and telegraph their skills to make them so much easier to dodge. but some better necros that ive come across this season posi/farrorz/prototype i cant beat 1v1. the only thing worth taking from it is understanding that the necro is in a losing scenario for his team to be 1v1ing on homepoint.

No one is good enough to hold a 90% win rate with no match manipulation in a system that has no division segregation. Anyone who believes that has clearly never played against top/pro players in inhouses and scrims. They aren’t the carry god juggernauts that you believe them to be. It just feels that way when you land on their team in a ranked match and they have someone on an alt throwing on the enemy team.

Sindrener has next to a 90% win rate and i’ve watched all his games, every game he plays to win and queues with a pro mesmer (best duo for thief) to ensure he has the best possible matches. considering thief has amazing oppurtunities to carry when played right even more so in duo with mes its not surprising that he wins.

not only that if you watch you’ll actually see how much better these top players really are compared to you

I’ve got 7 ranked games in now and I’m 5-2 I figure the last 2 days I’ll finish my 3 games off in ranked so I can get the little icon. I refuse to play ranked on a constant basis because it isn’t worth the time anymore. If you want to have special needs people on your team or you feel like having your match manipulated and frustrate you then by all means play the ranked season. As for me I have enjoyed all my PvP time even during the failed seasons 5 / 6 and the current failure. Due to the fact that I play stronghold unranked where PvP is actually tolerable.

Your not going in to have a amazing team. Most likely you will have to carry some pugs (like ranked). Your not going to go up or down in a crap laughable rank system and make yourself go mad. Your just going to enjoy yourself.

It’s not the best PvP but it’s light years better then dancing on and around pre determined circles zerging each other while one teef decaps.

Why do people with 10 games complain about ranking/MMR

for this ranking system to work (which it does its the best thing to happen to pvp) you need to simply play more, your MMR is just too volatile to understand the coding.

this system is designed for people who actually play ranked pvp, at least 100+games per season if youre not doing that why do you care about rank? just so you can show off a little badge?

I enjoy ranked, I understand the plays i need to do in soloq with druid to carry (its difficult yes) but im platinum this season from soloq and sword warhorn menders. its not rigged, yes its very frustrating but its a challenge.

It´s more a problem of the system then a tutorial. After bronze a player should know what to do. In gold+ i expect that the player is skilled with the class he plays and not use something below his level. I main ele. If i use war/thief i will propably play at silver level and with annythign else its worse. I won´t go to ranked at gold with non ele. this is just unfair for my team. OK i might go war if it benefits the team due to rotating and fast 1:1 kill capability outweighting my lower manual skill with it.
I even get a bad feeling for the team if i don´t use soldier rune … If i do this its strangely random. The agressive build version often results in blowouts … in either direction.

yes…in an ideal world, but the players are not distributed evenly by skill level. simply because 90% of gw2 players are just bad. (theres some good stuff on the forums for begginers just force them to read it in game before joining ranked with a mini video or something i dont know

one thing that i thought might be good, is to have the matchmaking system take into account the class you are in. actively looking for varied classes to avoid 3 guards vs 3 thieves sort of matchup, your queue times would only be affected if you pick an over popular class.

theres a counters to res so why is it broken? because the tier you play at is bad? get better at the game and the higher you rise the better quality players you will be matched with.

Stealth res – you can reveal
stab res – you can boonstrip
you can poison downs – thief can drop choking gas (OP)
ele mist to portal – you can keep a mental note of the mesmers portal or dont kill the ele in mesmer range

the only thing i can give merit being annoying is mesmer invuln on res shared with teammates, you need multiple people cleaving

Stealthing ele before it moves is the only one that doesn’t have much of a counter.

use reveal as soon as the ele goes down

PvP tutorial would help. Most players in up to gold 2 (included) have no idea what they are doing.

Tutorials are pointless imo. What we need is a simple bot game. They are not as challenging and wouldn’t give much rewards but they are more educational than any wall of text you can think off. I have played quite few games in the past and i found bot games are the best way to learn pvp system and practice in general (OW, LoL have those for example).

have you seen the AI in gw2???? a tutorial would go a long way for the newer pvp playerbase.

That is why match making feels terrible this season.

Despite what your friends and friends of friends may admit to or not, I’m telling you right now that almost half of the participants this ranked season are running at least one kitten method of match manipulation. The try hards are running them all and since there is no division segregation anymore, that means that we all play together. Thus, no one is able to avoid the match manipulation mole throwing. It will happen to you and if you are a legit player that isn’t partaking in all of this, g’luck. I don’t even mean that in a cliché sense, I mean it literally. PvP Dailies are now given to actual pvp players and not people coming from pve for quick dailies? go to ascalon and get your lumberer daily and close this thread please its sad.

Which class fills the bunker role? didnt know we where in a bunker meta.

Due to the high aoe high anti bunker with necro we’re currently in a kill meta relying on dps roamers to follow up on kills. classes like the engi and druid are specifically built to try and reduce the momentum following an allied death. this is not bunker meta :c

I normally love salty players it means im doing something right. however if its one thing i hate more than toxicity is AFKr’s they are the scourge of pvp. i dont care if youre 0-500 you dont stop playing unless it is literally a GG ie. you are 200 points behind with 30secs on the clock thats a GG.

I’ll say this once again, these “I lost because of bad players” excuse is such BS, the very fact that you say this tells me everything i need to know about you as a pvp player.

When i lose i never blame my team, i simply load up the vod look at what happened and ask myself "what could I have done better to win this game. in 99% of cases i spot about 5-10 things that i cringe at and work on not repeating the next game.

if once again i repeat the same issues i will start to note down my repeat mistakes, then actively train them.

both teams can have bad players both teams can have good players. the only value you can change and that is consistent in ALL your matches is YOU. dont waste time avoiding the very thing you have full control over.

People who are high ranked on NA…. well… did exploit, actually quite openly, everyone knows it only customer support refuses to accept it by the looks of it (the actions or rather lack of it speak for themselves).

People who are high ranked on EU (for most part) are actually good players but they also play only in duoq or don’t queue at all. You will never get high rank and keep it by playing solo.

I am also surprised you just figured that current pvp system is a lottery. It has been like this for while. Only way to make up for bad draw is to be able to solo enemy team so your own team won’t even have chance to get wiped.

It does not even out overtime, at least at higher ranks due to how MM works. Say top 4 are queueing. The MM puts them together in one team and looks for someone in similar rating to fill 5th spot. So far so good. Now the system attempts to build enemy team and here is the issue. There is only so many top players queueing at time. So what does Mm do? It grabs say some plat 2 players because they are next high ranked that queue at time. It grabs some gold players because it couldn’t find anything higher ranked. And then you have the case of top 5 players facing golds and plats. This is a thing, it does happen.
Take a wild guess how those matches go? It never gets better either.

Your response however does not diminish my statement. those “pro” players arent any different from us, they have the same constraints and restriction theyre just better at the game. youre forgetting the fact that everything you mentioned affects both sides and therefore cant personally only affect yourself every single time, yes youre right in being that sometimes its a lottery (not so much as unranked ofc) but this over time averages out. over time you will be were you belong. its early season still atm and good players are still climbing so the rankings are a little volatile. less skilled players tend to wait a little until the majority of pro players have climbed to where they should be.

fair enough and its not completely unreasonable to want changes to it, but its worth keeping the mindset that this arena is not a gamemode. its a QoL that anet has put in from player request and that we should be the ones to regulate it. there are other mediums available for everything that players complain about.

I’ve come and gone from gw2 pvp a lot, and i always find playing a high dps low hp variant a good and quick way in unranked to learn the meta, after about 15 games you’ve got a solid grasp on the basics of what each class is playing and what your ranked games will entail. I’d definitly take druid+staff as its what makes us viable in the current meta game. it’s also good for new players to learn what the dangerous move are that they should be avoiding same goes for condi removal.

I find that most players are usually carried by their cooldowns and high sustain to keep them to the next fight. its at the higher levels that players will bait your cd’s and call out utilities used to their teammates. for example, in high tier pvp using signet of stone completely forces me to change the way i think and play until it is back off cooldown. in hotjoin though i could use stone to carry me in a fight. and suffer no consequences from it.

I feel water is too strong not to take with the extra healing and the boon duration. I havnt come across a condition heavy enough team yet to warrant taking revenant runes however I only queue i dont play 5 man pre-made, I’ve been playing warhorn this season and the damage is bonus from warhorn is a good addition to the 1v1’s in which the dodge isnt needed.
with cele nerf and the stab nerf im finding warhon better in teamfights as well, the high vulnerability on warhorn stacks very fast for the target and can apply poison to ranged foes with doom on downed enemies.

Thief is still so strong (even more with terrible stab) that i cant take evasive purity with warhorn as i need the vigor to keep dodges ready for the +1 on me.

Long bow is terrible and I’ve never understood why anyone serious would play it, you can do more damage with Sword/dagger quickness. try actually playing your role.
home point defender…keep and eye on that and try to get yourself in a 1v2 as this is were i believe ranger shines. ranger took a massive hit to stab with the pulse nerf making it cake for thieves so pay more attention to thief position.

also, ranger is NOT a bunker. youre never going to be standing on point and holding it like a guardian. if you want to join a teamfight try to let your ele/engi stand on point if need be and focus on keeping him alive while being ready with cele and stab for the resses.

another tip that might be useful is if you are not getting 16-25 stacks of might during fights your not doing it right. try to learn the mechanics of heal as one and why you actually get might when you use it.

however. ranger is one of the hardest classes to soloq on and get high but dont use this as an excuse. constantly evaluate why youre losing and watch video playbacks of when you though you did good/bad. then next time round avoid the bad repeat the good simple.

Currently stuck in plat as I’m Soloq and I’m finding it rather hard to make good carry plays this season

Playing Menders bunker but have taken Warhorn and swapped to VT over EP in nature due to the loss of the dodge. reason for this is to provide the unblockable to pets which adds some decent dps over engi/mesmer in the home point 1v1 (Cant reflect unblockable). ofc depending on if i know the thief on the enemy team is decent or not ill switch back to oh dagger. also provides fury to pet outside of of ult.

tic tac toe!!! fancy seeing you on the forums lel, the engi farm is a grey area until anet responds, which they have not, dont listen to anything else…

the guidelines are too open to interpretation to fully make a decision in my case, besides you get double loot from the active farm.

Since returning to the game i haven’t done any farming just playing the way i want catching up with story etc, but still being conscious of gold income, I’ve just hit the 1000g mark and ive been back just over 2 months. the things ive been doing are below, you can play how you want in gw2 the people who farm spots are usually and ironically the lazy people or people who cant stick to something long term.

- Gathered all materials i came across (i do have the watchwork pick motivates me lol).
- Sold High and bought low, be patient you dont need the gold STRAIGHT away.
- daily achievement 2g per day free plus 3 shards.
- guild and personal instance node gathering (quartz ore is OP).
- Jumped into lvl40 fractal farm for a little didnt like it but occasional dungeons etc to work toward the daily dungeon runner 5g (progress stays you dont have to do 8 in one day).
- convert currencies to cash shards/karma
- pact network tokens get map rewards, just go orr and get the charged lodes/cores (tasty).

My point being i did all this WHILE playing the story and having fun with the metas and map mechanics/ exploring. not at one point have i burnt myself out during the 2 months. also ive been completing my first tier of achievements for nevermore 2 left over 2 months im in no rush haha.

Thought I would message on here as i’m currently in work. looks like a really good guild and im interested in joining, thought I would give a little info and history on myself to see if i might be a good fit for your guild.

24 years old returning player – typical mon-fri salary job :P gw2 in the evening most nights but not able to guarentee logins everyday/ provide a guarenteed schedule. but do average about 30 hours gameplay a week since returning.

Thief main only (have alts but dont care for them) – lvl80 full ascended – Mast43 – Used to be a hardcore GvG player before the Pirate ship meta when my guild at the time Rerolled disbanded since then I’ve been on and off and my last exit was final when my friends all quit, but recently I’ve gotten into all the pve and achievements. all the content I’ve missed and am absolutely loving it, feels like a completely different game, so in summary my temperament to the game would be I have the capability to play at top level but im really looking for a chilled guild that i can enjoy the rest of my days in

timeline
- Started game casually leveling playing wvw
- went through different guilds until landing with RA rising above.
- Through lost leadership RA disbanded
- Began semi pve by just doing dungeons/ orr farm and TP camping.
- Joined Re Rerolled after I took an interest in WvW again
- Rerolled disbanded, became interested in pvp played for 4-5 months solely pvp
- took and interest in the community became admin for esl tournaments. (the pro players can be such diva’s you’d never imagine -_-)
-Esl tourney’s fizzled out too much admin work write ups for comps etc quit
- Tank Mesmer comp heavy in pvp quit pvp and went back to TP for about a week before quiting for a long time.
- watched a trailer for LS3 and became very interested, been playing for nearly a month now and am having a lot of fun, never been part of a guild that wasn’t like a full time job so not sure what to expect.

What I can do for you:

adept at all dungeons, slightly new to the new fractals
one of my friends teaching me raids building LI/KP will soon be able to raid
100% explore
will partake in guild events etc

What stuff does your guild do each week? is anything planned or do you plan it on the fly? at the moment im just enjoying bloodstone fen farming for the home nodes (so many nodes for home i dont have :C) really enjoy it as it reminds me of the old halloween map you could farm for some reason haha.

They are not crafting materials.

Rising Above is a Fight driven guild that operates within EU prime time, focusing on GvG’s, scrims and of course open field fights, we have recently transferred to Kodash to attempt to become one of the best GvG guilds and we don’t take no for an answer, we don’t back down and of course we fight the best opponents we can get our hands on.

The guild is over a year and a half old and we’ve been building our core since the guild was formed with many of our core remaining from the entire year and a half. We currently field around 20 players per raid

We are looking for players wanting to join the guild with a hardcore attitude, what this means is that you wont be told how to play your class, you will be expected to know your class and current meta, we also expect that you take the initiative to train yourself if need, this does not mean we wont support you if needed. if you fit the bill then you may very well join a guild of like minded players

Finite details

• We raid on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. this starts with PvP practice/training.
• Warm-up at 19:00 GMT and then raid starts at 19:30 GMT.
• We take Priority for scrims over open field fights.
• No drama policy (undoubtedly true, not just a fake rule).

What you can expect from us

• Guaranteed raids on said mentioned days
• Professional environment ensuring raids aren’t halted
• support with training on tactics unique to guild
• Custom PvP arena
• A guild Roster full of like minded players

• To know your class and current meta
