Celestial elementalist is OP not because of its damage (though burn is a bit OP across the board right now – not an issue with elementalist in itself), but through it’s godlike sustain and healing. If burning gets nerfed as it should, cele d/d ele would then lose access to most of its damage right now. Its base damage isn’t actually that high. You need to sacrifice a lot to land a fire grab for the burst.
The amount of healing it has though, is a bit ridiculous. You can burst an ele down to 5-10% hp, then they can switch to water and heal back up to 100% in 2 seconds. I’m having flashbacks about the discussion on warrior healing signet…

Hi
Your guild mission request is a bit odd, but I would recommend you have 2 different guilds for PvE and PvP/WvW in order to fulfill your needs.
You can search for a WvW guild at BG’s community forum at gw2blackgate.com.
Good luck!
p.s. metabattle builds suck. The guilds you join will probably tell you to change your builds.
didn’t they actually tweak the RNG to a narrower range? I wonder if this is what the op was thinking about…..
It was tweaked 2-2.5 years ago from 150 glicko to 100 glicko. Might’ve been even longer ago. It wasn’t too long after the matchup was changed from being 1up/1down based on 1st place and 3rd place.
Mesmers can solo keeps pretty easily thanks to stealth to drop aggro and clones to take aggro.

I’m a guild leader and every now and then need to send out mass mail to everyone in the guild, however recently, I’ve been unable to send more than 2 or 3 before I get suppressed from sending more. I was told this isn’t normal as people have been able to send more than 10 without getting suppressed. Is there anyway around this? Right now I’m sending mail to inactive members letting them know why they’re getting kicked and I’m simply unable to get it done.

SEA players would have plenty to do if they weren’t all stacked on just a few servers. Now you have even more wanting to move to JQ? I could maybe feel a bit of empathy if they wanted to go somewhere to counter JQ SEA, but wanting to go to the most stacked SEA in T1?
There used to be enough OCX and SEA players 2-2.5 years ago to fill 6 servers. Unfortunately, many people at that time still had a “kill a server” and “stack my server to high heavens to win” mentality. This resulted in a huge exodus of first SEA players followed by OCX players. Then came the China servers, which saw a huge wave of SEA players from China, HK and Taiwan leave for (and many came back cause those servers were so poorly managed, even compared to ANet’s servers…), which more or less killed any chance of a multi-tier rotation of servers with good off-hours coverage.
T1 SEA right now is balanced pretty well due to the server lockout though, but due to attrition, JQ will still have more in the end unless the servers open up.
This has prevented basically any chance of players moving to balance ourselves out, not that there was much of a chance of that in the beginning, with WvW so poorly managed by ANet.

Conditions have more true DPS than power builds in 1v1 fights.
Got any reasonable damage comparison numbers to support that? Unless you do, simply stating it does mean much. I say this because a few people make this claim, yet I never see any actual evidence posted to support it.
By the way, you claim "passively " applied conditions, Are an issue. Doesn’t hat mean every trait that passively increases direct damage, applies fury, or increases crit chance is equally problematic? Why are the condition ones worse?
How do you cry fowl for one, just to ignore the other?
The main difference between condi and power though, is that condi continues ticking at 3-5k damage per tick if not cleansed, whereas power can be completely negated. My mesmer can output nearly 7k damage per tick of condi after 1 rotation (2.5k confusion, 1.5k torment, 1k burning, 500 poison, 1k bleed) if the condis aren’t cleansed and maintain it at that level. Yeah, that’s right, 3 ticks of condi and you’re dead. There’s no power build around that can do that. All power builds allow you to see exactly which burst skills are going to be casted in advance and easily dodged. With condis being applied more or less on autoattacks, this isn’t possible to dodge.
Condi is only affected by 2 things. Condition duration and condition power. Only condition power is affected by a boon – might. Power builds have to maintain and look after their boon rotations far more diligently than a condi build. Condi builds also often take boon removal skills to further counter power builds (see condi shatter mesmers, boon corruption necromancers and boon strip steal thieves). Boon corrupting a condi user doesn’t do much because they don’t rely nearly as much on boons.
Combine both factors – Condi builds applying most of their damage on very passive, easy to apply skills and the fact that they don’t rely nearly as much on boons, means that they are EXTREMELY passive in their play style. That was the entire point of condition builds – to kite people around until they die over a period of time. There’s no kiting anymore, it’s usually just instant death.
It’s obviously different in sPvP where it’s much harder to stack up the conditions due to having less stats and less condition duration buffs, but in WvW, it is horribly broken.
There’s a lot of reasons why solo roaming is dead, but certainly a huge factor is that conditions are way too over powered. They were over powered even before their buff, but they are just broken now. The entire philosophy of DoT builds in the majority of RPGs is to allow kiting, or to lock down kills that are trying to run away from you, usually with large cooldowns to compensate. I really don’t understand why DoTs are so dam easy to apply in GW2.
i think that if people have to keep saying that t1 is the only viable place for sea and ocx, it just means they are not confident with that “fact”, thus is a propaganda.
Or the SEA/OCX players organize like the GvG guilds did and spread out over three servers in lower tiers (cheaper xfer rate, guaranteed fights, friends/family can join, etc.).
Not really viable due to the volatility of those tiers. If the matchup gets screwed up, it’ll be a snoozefest for at least 1 server.
Anyone that thinks there’s enough OCX/SEA/EU below T2 to stay competitive is dreaming. There’s not even enough in tier 1 to have good competitive fights. Previous seasons have also shown that even T1’s vastly diminished OCX~EU coverage completely and utterly dominates T2.
There’s like, 4-5 SEA guilds in T1 worth a fight. No OCX guild that focuses on fights. EU guilds raids on T1NA servers are non-existent since they all lead large pug blobs. All this because there’s simply not enough people out there to recruit keep WvW guilds that raid in those time zones healthy, especially people that want to challenge themselves and get better.
There’s only enough of OCX, SEA and EU players on NA for 3, maybe 4 servers if we want to have good matchups.
Conditions have more true DPS than power builds in 1v1 fights. What I mean by this is that they can cut through the sustain of most classes, with the possible exception of d/d celestial ele. Whereas power builds have to rely on large burst skills to break through sustain, condi builds only rely on ccing to apply more conditions – especially with confusion now stupidly strong.
With the majority of conditions being passively applied these days (condi mesmer just have to create a bunch of clones and go into stealth, condi thief goes in and out of stealth to apply condi with unload and steal, most other classes have it on their autoattack), it’s ridiculous how cleansing wasn’t also buffed to counterbalance the condition buffs. Sure, we’re getting condi resistance. Problem is though, that resistance doesn’t last long enough against a condi user. Heck, the best trait you can take against a condi user is Diamond Skin, which can be broken through if there’s enough CC anyway. Especially with a necromancer or thief.
If you’re running in a group under 5 people, just go 3 condi 2 power. Power is still necessary to burst people down faster to get the stomps, but you’ll be surviving a lot more with the condi users due to their natural tankiness.
Working as intended, join your friends on a lower tier.
WvW isn’t a viable game mode below NAT3 for Oceanic and South East Asian players. I’d argue that it isn’t a viable game mode below T1, though I know there’s still some presence in T2 and T3. EU’s got their own servers so there’s very little EU presence outside T1 and T2 as well. Heck, even within the gold tier servers, OCX and EU are more or less dead.
The only people that could transfer down are those who only WvW occasionally and main PvP or PvE. Or else they’d quit the game from boredom.
Working as intended, join your friends on a lower tier, SoS has sea, Mag has sea, Sbi has sea, CD has sea. There is four servers right there that will suit your needs.
I am sure you are a NA player, know nothing about wvw of non-na timezone same as Anet staff. My friend have been transfered to sos but they blobbed by yb by a 3:1 ratio with outmanned buff. Mag Sbi and CD only have tiny sea force, thats not amazing blob fight they are looking for.
Your barking up the wrong tree, I am a NA player that plays late NA/Sea so don’t assume all of us work 9-5 on the east coast, NA is a big place.
SEA is early-mid morning in NA (Exactly 12 hour time difference). There’s OCX in between. That’s a 6-8 hour time period you’re talking about if you play from late NA to SEA. My NA guildies wake up 5-8am to raid with us so… :P

My guild isn’t looking forward to CU, but BnS. ANet dropped the ball on GW2 and WvW by putting too much resources into their fecal-like PvE.
My major concern with CU is the combat system.
For example one of our biggest problem is the population: too much on top tiers with giant queues
Oh kitten … NO there’s isn’t “giant queues” any longer. The only world with ridiculous Q’s is Yaks Bend during NA right now. They have almost 200 players total sitting and waiting during NA. The rest of us are lucky to Q 1 map! Even for reset on JQ, we just Q’d the 4 maps for an hour or so. That’s after shuffling and asking for players to come into WvW to begin with.
Sorry for barking at you but, this imagery that T1 has massive q’s filled with all the players it absorbed from the lower tiers just isn’t true. The games just bleeding that many players. There’s so much apathy toward the mode it’s becoming malaise. A lot of players just don’t care and it’s dragging down everyone.
OP is on the EU servers, which have far more players in WvW during prime time than NA servers. NA T1 servers can barely queue a map during NA prime, where as T2 or even T3 EU can manage to queue 2-3 maps at times, depending on the matchup (good matchups obviously bring more people out).
The incessant catering to PvE players is slowly destroying WvW, but many good PvP games are coming out around the corner. C’est la vie. Games come and go. GW2 has been great so far, but there seems to be greener grass coming out soon.
Looking for World vs World players!
I enjoy the chaos and the flashing lights from the particle effects. The tactics behind each commander while fighting and the objective pressure from map blobs also makes the fights interesting on a macro level.
On the micro level, meh~ I can do without them.
ANet keeps listening to the PvE players and buffed conditions for some reason when it should’ve been hard nerfed instead.
Lol!
My queue in JQAnd that’s after barking at folks to get into WvW! lol. The YB EB Q the other night in NA was 2.5 hrs long. It just shows how idiotic and selfish if was of those guilds to transfer there.
BG didn’t have a queue on 2 maps
. Feels so good floating between maps on reset!

Lots of inactives purged. Looking for fresh blood!
So my guild’s been around for around 2.5 years now but over half are transfers, some who’ve transferred years ago too… You want to break up my guild?
I guess there’s that saying about opinions and orifices…
I think T1 servers are locked into something similar to what T2 servers had recently. They have to fight really hard to make sure they stay T1. This is good for the game, and something many people feel should have been happening all along.
If they fight as hard as they can there will be one that drops. I know this sounds odd, but I hope whichever drops does NOT have an exodus. We need more dynamic movement at the top.
Not imploding after dropping is rather unlikely. Keeping in mind that JQ currently still has many fairweather transfers and only recently started to rebuild a strong community after persistent leadership issues (but suddenly lost one of their main NA guilds) and TC have had community issues… forever. BG might be able to sustain in T2 for a while, but even I think with BG, many guilds will start to leave once we drop out of T1 if we don’t have a way of getting back into T1 – I put my own guild in this category too.
I still feel like transferring to ET. Don’t ask why. I just want to experience something different, even if it is an apparent ‘dead’ server. I don’t care if people tell me it’s a waste of time. It would be nice if just one person could make a small difference.
I have some questions. I’m Australian so I’m generally on after work which is around 9:00pm through to 2-3am AEST… would it be even more dead during those times on ET?
You’ll likely be the only one online. Or maybe there will be a couple others, if you can find them.
Since you can speak Thai, I would suggest looking for [Thai] or [Siam]. I don’t know who to contact, but they are your best bet for a good guild in your time zone.
Cheers for the bump Blade!
WvWers are taking a week off. EoTM karma trainers are out on the borderlands in force. Not a great result for ANet if they want to maintain WvW as a game mode people can take seriously.
The thing is though…
It seems that so far since reset, WvW HAS been move active, especially since karma training is MUCH faster than karma training in EoTM.
Never have I seen so many uplevels and low ranks
Anyone in T1 OCX still interested in fighting, I’ll see you guys in OS.
Logged off an hour into reset. This snit is terrible

Hey Deztroyer, FL is a Blackgate based WvW and PvP guild with members from NZ and Australia to Singapore and Malaysia. If you’re interested, please send me a mail or whisper ingame.
There’s many different builds for all 8 classes for different situations, or even in the same situations. Guardian, for instance, has bunker GS, bunker Hammer, DPS GS, DPS Hammer, hybrid GS/Hammer (rarer nowadays due to the traits rework) for zergs, and a whole bunch of other builds for roaming. Warriors have shouts, stances, “worker” CC build, “Nike” build etc. just listing some few examples of the variety of builds available.
Which build is best for you would depend on your guild (join a serious WvW guild! If you’re in a 100% rep PvE guild, time to leave! Large guild does not equal good guild) and your zerg composition. Some commanders like to run more mobile and thus doesn’t want hammer guardians slowing down their melee train while having backline a little distance back to avoid them being run over. Some like to run more CC heavy, preferring a lot of hammers from their melee train and ranged to be fairly close to the frontline.
WvW is where roles are pretty clearly defined and acted upon in a similar fashion to GW1 (Front/Mid/Backline → Front/Back/Focus(or Gank))
Colin uploads himself to the GW2 servers and decides to start deleting everyone with banhammer 2.0.
No, he forces everyone to play GW2 24/7 and a death in game becomes a death in real life ala Sword Art Online.
Calling it now.

I was on DH when they were in T7, ET and SoR when they were in T8, CD when they were between T5 and T6, all this over the course of around 6-8 months just looking around at how each server operated.
I noticed one trend through all of those servers, was that they all had pretty significant numbers during NA prime, but rarely did the guilds and pugs work together for anything other than a karma train.
Recruiting PvE players doesn’t work. Recruiting for anything outside of NA prime under T3 doesn’t work. You guys were overreaching yourselves and burnt yourselves out with stupid decisions.
Very very very few non-NA players that are serious into WvW will stick around in anything under T3 so trying to recruit those players into your server and get them serious will only cause them to leave the server in a few months anyway as they search for a better WvW experience.
A redirection of the bronze tier culture towards group play over solo play needs to be made if you guys want to grow your server. At least, that’s my opinion of the matter.
Yeah people need to ‘step up’ but 300 gold for a tag is steep for a lot of people. Not really encouraging more of our good WvW’ers to purchase.
Agreed here, but that’s why voice comms are SO important. If you have a group in comms, you don’t need a tag. You can still do a lot of work.
Take… 4?
Any bets on how long this stint will last?
So here’s the thing
Both your servers have people on them.
Both your servers have 1 major problem, which is that neither of your servers have someone or some people to step up and lead to change the server culture away from that of casual random non-comms karma training or roaming into a group focused PPT focused server.
I spend quite a lot of time down in T5-T8 NA servers on my alt account and they all have 1 thing in common: There’s no one spamming teamspeak details in map chat. In fact, when I ask for teamspeak details, I often get confronted, cussed out and get called a spy. That to me is hilarious cause you guys are ranked way at the bottom with nothing to lose each week to even need to care about spies
Also, UW is Underworld. Ranked dead last in EU due to some… drama that happened several months back. Nasty situation that split the server and caused a lot of people to transfer off.
I’d recommend getting your entire server to only focus server A for as long as you’re matched up together until they stop doing that so that even if your stuff gets flipped during your quiet hours, if you can keep their stuff flipped during prime hours, it’s still a win.
