Just switch your utility keys to z,x and c. Having utilities on mouse buttons aren’t that good for PvP, especially if they’re ground targeted skills. Mouse buttons should be reserved for instant cast skills. You’re putting too much work onto your mouse control otherwise, and it slows you down.

Maybe I’m just old school, but mouse is for camera movement and keyboard is for skills.

Splash damage on catas is fine. Defending isn’t supposed to be possible with “limited manpower”. If limited manpower could defend against a larger zerg, siege bunkering would completely take over, which one wants and everyone knows is dull. A small group is supposed to be able to delay a larger group taking an objective. Not completely stop it.

Many on BG and JQ dont care about winning and PPT. We come for fights, because winning and ppt are meaningless. Yaks bend is kittenous garbage server that does nothing but pvd and siegehump. If there was anything on the line, like a tournament I can assure you BG and JQ would be out in force and YB would be crushed.

Many on YB come for fights, but are unable to fight on even grounds due to having considerably smaller forces. JQ and BG have kittenous garbage players that run in much larger groups, often times team up to fight YB, and complain like sore losers just because YB uses allowed game mechanics just to stay competetive. I guess at the end of the day, these players can rest assured that they’re clearly more “skilled” as those 10 YB wouldn’t have killed their 20+ man zergs without siege weaponry.

Do people… honestly think like this? Like… serious question. I’ve met maybe 3 people who had those opinions and I pretty quickly told them to kitten, but for the most part I feel like people who zerg are fairly aware that they’re zerging. Right? Am I just hanging around with the wrong people? I stopped going into public teamspeaks a while ago.

Yes, I have seen both BG and JQ use exactly the same tactics. Just because you have a one sided opinion of play doesn’t mean that it is fact.

Anyhoo, on the topic of Blackgate WvW… Times change, people move on. The old guard that made BG #1 on the rankings are mostly quit or moved servers (mostly quit, just a couple moved servers). Those that remain simply aren’t able to be as effective these days, whether it be not willing to fight against YB siege humping and JQ blobs, or simply not as interested/passionate about the game as those that came before.

When my old laptop got this error, I found out it had a bad hard drive sector, which basically turned it into a paper weight. I’d check for sector errors on your hard drive and see if you have to replace that. My laptop was old enough that I just went for a new laptop rather than repairing it.

What’s the use of that item? You can have all the crafting stations and merchants at your disposal when you enter your homeland’s borderlands from PvE map, and when you exit you’ll be back where you left. Costs no money.

Even if we had a complete reversal on stability, it would still be too weak, especially with the amount of CC available now on really short cooldowns. Considering the average party back then had on average around 40% stability uptime in theory (in reality less than 20%), it would still not be difficult to immobilise, boon strip, then CC to death.

It’s not up to us to adapt, it’s up to ANet to change and rebalance skills and classes. The meta is this way because crowd control is too strong, while frontline is unable to actually make big pushes due to lack of stability

Orrian Truffle isn’t bad on paper, but rather than using that food, having dual Sigil of Energy can cover the need for your dodges. Depends on your builds, but you should design your guild’s class builds around which food buffs you use as well. If you choose to go for say, Sigil of Momentum rather than Sigil of Energy, it might be worth picking up the Orrian Truffles.

20% damage reduction is absolutely massive when you’re in a CC’d state. Honestly, it’s fantastic. I used to use it as a cheap alternative even when Lemongrass Poultry Soup was the meta.

Nightcapping ruins fighting morale for the rest of the servers and makes people shun WvW altogether, when people turn away from something due to nightcapping (Which is a fact, like it or not) then yes, it does become a problem.

The problem is the mentality that it matters. PPT matters jack all. It’s kitten that people come in here demanding that my time is somehow worth less (T1 NA matchup is still extremely active at NA late night/early morning, still occasionally seeing queues). Your argument is that people leave because they lost some PPT. Those people make WvW boring and dull for the rest of us. No loss for me.

The condi duration thing is less of a factor these days since it’s only 20% as opposed to the 40% we used to have from the lemongrass poultry soup (which allowed you to get around 90% condi duration reduction on a warrior). The bigger factor these days is the 20% damage reduction. When you’re fighting against a backline CC heavy composition (pirate ship), which is almost everyone these days, it allows you to sustain a lot more than say, mango pie, which is useless in comparison.

Tray of saffron bread. It’s what has replaced pot of lemongrass poultry soup. Only around 40-50 silver a pop compared to the pre-nerf lemongrass poultry, which was more like 7-10 gold each. Bargain

Ppl are too spoiled in gw2. The current patch is what some ppl here been asking, yet you can still see the amt of complains popping out here and there.

Anyway, this is just my 2cents about nightcapping. The current upgrading system still feels too fast. One timezone coverage is enough to upgrade everything to t3, creating imbalanced matchup against some servers. If they extend the upgrading time to lets say 2-3days, the upgrading/flipping responsibility is more spread out across different timezones.

If it took that long to upgrade something, then nothing will ever get upgraded. It’s too easy to flip a T1 or T2 structure with the current buffed superior siege damages. All you’ll do is make it easier to karma train, which I’m kind of OK with as it promotes more activity, but it doesn’t promote activity that will actually assure the longevity of WvW, which is the large scale combat.

As an east coast Australian player, I’m very much the quintessential “nightcapper” on NA servers but we don’t have Oceanic or SEA servers, so we have to be on NA. Being on T1 and not on Jade Quarry though, means I have an extremely target rich environment

This post is stickied at the top of the forum. It spells out exactly the areas they plan on addressing in the WvW update (population balance, scoring, player rewards). These have been identified as the core problems with WvW by many posts over the last 3 years, as well as the CDI threads a year ago.

Do you want Anet to consult with this forum at every step of the re-design process? Or would you rather have them do the job they’re paid to do, which is to design a better game product, and then put the changes out to the playerbase and adjust them based on feedback after the fact?

Really? Feedback after they introduce the patch? Right.

The whole point of communication is to allow ANet to understand what we, as WvW players, want out of WvW. There’s a whole range of WvW players, from the fighters to the point hunters, large group players and small, which is why feedback needs to reach them during development, not after, which is how we got the absolutely horrendous HoT stuff.

ANet needs to understand that if they deliver what we want through better communication (both ways), it will only improve the final product. Considering there’s been near radio silence on WvW in terms of actually talking to us and asking what we want (except for 1 twitch interview series), that’s just terrible.

It’s cute watching people try defend ANet over WvW.

You legit can nerf every single class for PvE for around 20%-30% of their total DPS and you could still complete the raid just fine. The fact that people can’t is simply a L2P issue. Like it has been said earlier, there’s been instances of people soloing raid bosses already. Balancing around PvE is idiotic.

That said, if the devs decide to split up WvW, PvE and PvP balancing, that would be a good day, but until then, balance based on PvP only.

It is not about overall DPS, we are not asking for DPS, we are asking for balance so all professions are viable there. Current situation is, if you are not burnzerker warrior/DPS herald/fresh air tempest/alacrity chronomancer/heal druid you are not welcomed in a raid party.

So form your own raid party? Don’t you have a guild to run raids with? This isn’t an issue with balance, but with players too lazy to organise their own business

I don’t think the complaints about PvE are valid at all, as PvE in this game isn’t meant to be challenging or taken seriously (well, not until HoT anyway…). Gripes about PvP and WvW, however, are real concerns that have lost tens of thousands of players because of a lack of dev communication and development.

Especially WvW. There’s been basically 0 communication on future updates with the community from developers at all. They don’t get any feedback from the players about their ideas and implement horrible changes that causes huge exoduses from the game. That’s not a “GW2 is free, they’ll be back later” deal. That’s a permanent loss.

I read the Q1 state of the game blog many times, I read the post Gaile made before that about WvW Sneak-Peak (Basically previewing what is in the blog as well). I have no idea why you think I would ignore those. Hell, this threads title is stating The Shatterer update, which is only IN the blog.

Anyway, there’s no notion of some fact that there won’t be more changes, no notion that there won’t be balance changes or anything like that. Obviously what the devs told us is out there, and I’m not gonna dispute that. I merely dispute it when someone states it as fact that “there won’t be more.” Because that would impressive to know.
ArenaNet has been changing stuff for the good or bad without telling anyone many times. It’s not that weird to assume that they won’t with a bigger update.

It’s great that you still have some faith in ANet, but at this point, after almost 3.5 years of disappointment, there’s basically no faith left in ANet from veteran WvW players. WvW has constantly gotten the short end of the stick. Never getting the attention it deserves or the communication that has been required to keep such a game mode running. It’s been supported by the community alone, with every single update by ANet content update to WvW ruining it further and further (The only update I would say has worked well is the masteries update). It’s literally been servers trying to hold the communities together while ANet destroys our game mode.

At this point, with so many promising MMOs on the horizon, WvW looks to just about to be finished. So many WvW players have already started playing Blade and Soul, with many using BnS as a bridge to the next MMO with RvR/WvW such as Crowfall or Camelot Unchained. ESO and Archeage already bled huge chunks of the community away from GW2 and ANet didn’t learn from its lessons back then. Doesn’t look like they’ll learn their lessons now either.

As the leader of a fairly small-ish guild, I’ll say this: Leading an online community is a full time job. There’s no way around this fact. You put the community first in your life or it cannot flourish.

Yes, RL is more important than a video game. The issue is though, that people join guilds to be with friends, to have people to talk to, and to have people to play with. As the leader of a micro guild such as yours, as a co-leader, you need to be online ALL THE TIME during your guild’s prime time, or else people will get bored and simply leave.

From personal experience, when I took vacations and such, it would take months of rebuilding the guild afterwards due to a huge inactivity hole that my vacation would create (i.e. from a 45man guild down to a 25 man guild from a 1 month vacation).

Also, if your guild is a PvE guild, the question then becomes “why yours?”. There’s thousands of PvE guilds out there, many of which are more organised, larger, and have more presence and more fun to be in. You have to ask yourself what makes your guild special and what makes it stand out. If there’s nothing that makes it stand out, why even have the guild at all? It’s a waste of resources and time, and does nothing but stroke your own ego.

No, BnS will not “threaten” GW2. It does, however, chip away at GW2’s playerbase. Every single MMO that has come out since GW2’s release has seen very active players unhappy with ANet’s refusal to communicate with their playerbase move to other games. ESO, Archeage and now Blade and Soul. With Black Desert Online and Camelot Unchained on the horizon, ANet needs to up their game or risk losing even more dedicated players.

Sure, ANet is currently marketing towards the extremely casual “facebook gamer”, but while they provide a lot of cash shop money, they don’t stick around and make your game last. It’s a giant shame that WvW and PvP are so screwed up right now with little to no dev communication in regards to future development.

Guilds like mine are waiting on games just like BnS (we’re already moving there, but with 1 foot still in GW2 in the hopes that future development and communication improves), Camelot Unchained, Crowfall and Black Desert Online. ANet better watch out.

Revenant CoR needing nerfs is indefensible. Doing 6-8k damage crits on a full bunker build every 3-4 seconds (cause hey, 100% crit chance under the effect of fury, which is 100% uptime with herald) is way too strong.

Turn “Render Sampling” to native. I assume you got it on super sample, which is why you get such low FPS on such a high end rig.

Guardians are always welcome in zergs. Not so good for roaming or skirmish though as they have virtually no escape.

Guardians have plenty of escape through their invulnerabilities. Time your skills right and you can cleanse off all the soft CC and blink+leap to safety. Especially on lower tiers where playing a medi guard in a zerg is actually half viable (2 medi 1 shout for stability).

Depending on which tier you’re on… If you’re on a fairly populated tier, I’d recommend you play a staff elementalist as it’ll allow you to stay back and tag everything in sight while remaining fairly safe. On a lower tier, I’d probably say guardian as they’re fairly versatile and will allow you to roam or be part of a group without having to change up too many things, despite being pretty melee focused.

That’s a really silly position to take. Not every dev decision should cater to the casuals. Private tags are such a small thing that it shouldn’t matter to anyone. We already work around this, so why just not give us some QoL updates and allow us to tag unseen.

WvW has seen such a massive drop off since HoT, it’s not even funny. Quite sad actually. Even the week before HoT was more active than it is now.

Well, to be fair, people were crying and complaining about needing a badge sink before HoT. Several people had well over 100k badges with nothing to spend it on after farming Edge of the Mist for so long. Now, it’s a lot harder to get and a significant badge sink was introduced. Par for the course for most of HoT to be honest.

There’s still a few matchups that are active though. Especially kitten EU and kitten NA. EoTM can’t really provide a recruitment pool or clear open field fights (majority of the map has too much verticality, choke points or insta death drops). There’s still no motivation for players to enter EoTM if you’re in an active matchup.

Nah, I can see 1 druid used in a 15-20 man group for the ranged water field (also projectile absorption) + blast. Helps the melee make a big push as well as the regroup. The damage is honestly so lackluster though

Mounts won’t save this game. A complete 180 redirection from PvE development towards sPvP and WvW development will save this game.

I bought myself a Dell Inspiron 7559 during the holiday sales as a present to myself after my previous laptop broke down. So far working very well. Doesn’t weigh too much and the screen size isn’t too large so I can actually take it to class as well

The Scrapper currently has more potential in a GvG or group WvW role than a Druid, and they only have a couple of tools at their disposal. The Druid lacks any kind of meaningful support with only a minimal amount of CC application as well as AoE damage to make it more useful than another class in that role (honestly, Scrappers are actually pretty good to have in the commander party when melee pushing).

All the medium armor classes are still at the bottom of the pile when it comes to WvW zerging though.
