Replaced with bloodlust, which in my opinion, is better. Good place to find fights as a roamer
Berserker gear is highly viable for elementalists in WvW, but your traits will be focused more into Water and Arcana, with no focus at all in Fire or Air.
what about 2 points in air for fury and swiftness on aura?
If you’re D/D, then yeah, 0/2/0/6/6 or 0/2/2/6/4 works. You only have 1 aura on staff though, and it’s not even that useful considering how situational it is.
Yes, my bad! I’m just so used to playing with dd I forget staff even exists!
I’m not familiar with staff builds too well, but I usually use 0/5/0/3/6.
There’s an Earth master trait that gives 2s stability on Earth attunement, so my staff build is 0/0/4/6/4

I’ve heard the same stories coming from multiple servers.
Megaserver issues breaking WvW…
I think you can get that “extremly lucky” getting the luck esscences by salvaging that junk
In my experience, magic find has never seemed to help.
I mean really, we don’t even know how it works. Anet won’t tell us.
There’s definitely a difference. The amount of rares go up considerably once you hit around 200% MF (not that high) and exotics become more commonplace at 350-400% MF (max base MF plus boosts)
OP, you need to try view GW2 as an open sandbox exploratory game for the PvE content. Even if you’re under levelled, doesn’t mean you can’t go explore more difficult areas. I think a forum goer last year posted 100% map completion at around level 60.
Pure map exploration in terms of POIs, Vistas and Hearts net you very little exp. it’s what those things lead you to find. You need to do everything else on offer to you as well. Craft level specific gear. Running a level appropriate dungeon. Rerunning lower level maps for content you may have missed.
I personally level all my characters in PvP and WvW though. Map completion bored my mind out xD
Hey guys, new to WvW and GW2 in general. Now my question is if I am aiming for the WvW Spring Tournement Achievement which map should i play in? EoTM? Or another?
Also is it too late to get all the meta achievements for this?
Thanks!
If you join a WvW guild, you can get the meta achievements done within a week.
The player kills ones (there’s 2) can be done in a night.
I purposely ignored all WvW meta achievements while playing and have all but 2 of them completed – the 2 EoTM ones. I got the meta achievement in the second week of the tournament quite by accident. If you actively go after the achievements, it would come really quick.

Sky Hammer has such a bad mechanic with the lasers.
Spirit watch wouldn’t be so bad if bunker builds weren’t so kitten common, so I could be backstabbing a guardian all the way from the orb to a point and he wouldn’t even be at half hp cause of dodge heals and aegis.
It’s probably the whole lot of new people to PvP that’s diluting the experience.
You gain points by capping and defending points. Certain maps have other mechanics to increase score gain via buffs you have to activate, certain NPCs to kill, an orb you have to carry to a point etc.
All classes have their role in WvW. Even certain ranger builds are highly viable.
Best overall is guardian, followed by elementalist. Both are highly flexible in terms of play style.
Guardian roamers are really underestimated.
Once you’ve hit 80, the game becomes largely sandbox. There’s a tuckfon of stuff to do, but you’re not directed or forced to do any of it. Enjoy!
Not having this problem. I’m levelling my new characters in sPvP now and it’s bleeding fantastic. No more mindless champ train or map exploration, and it’s actually pretty quick as well. I’ve put more levels on my new alts in the past week than the past 3 months!
How do you PvE level in SPvP? Is that thru tome of knowledge?
Correct. You also gain exp through daily quest completions while there (dodger, reviver, killer, capturer, games played, recycler, conditions cleared, leveller)
(edited by Reverence.6915)
You can purchase all your traits anyway, no big deal. Also extremely cheap. But then, I’m mainly a wvw/sPvP player so what so I know

The most important thing to remember as a roaming scout is to not lose your cool. Make sure you get accurate information. ‘X server at Z position’ isn’t good enough as that is literally useless garbage that your commander can’t use.
Contrary to what was said above, don’t be afraid to die. Because you should be dying a lot. Especially picking advantageous spots to observe enemy zerg movements, or simply using the time to type out detailed info to your commander (# of X server at Y position moving to Z with **] tag). Especially since repair costs were removed, not much point of trying to stay alive if it means good scout info given in a timely manner, which can mean the difference of defending that tower or losing it.
I never have enough badges. Need moar siege!
Nothing will beat the year long SoR vs BG rivalry.
After simultaneous attacks from 2 zergs, BG will then camp at JQ spawn spot for hours while allowing SOS to capped garrison and smc in EB.
Wldnt this kind of “team-up” play has much implications to the thousand of wvw players in tier 1 and tier 2? Im worried.
It’s exactly what happened to BG last week against TC and JQ, so meh, deal with it.
Honestly, JQ has the numbers to take 2nd spot this week regardless of how much BG focuses JQ. SoS isn’t a T1 server. It doesn’t have T1 coverage like TC. Too bad JQ has decided to hide in EoTM
There’s no alliance between BG and SoS this week. It’s just BG focusing JQ, in part for revenge for last week, but mostly they’re the larger threat. I’ve personally fought more SoS than JQ this week since JQ seems to have ran into EoTM.
After almost 2 years, nothing is enough until almost all of these are fixed
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/A-Complete-List-of-WvW-Bugs-FOR-ANET
Over 90% of the “bugs” listed are intended and not bugs.
The biggest issues I have is the “getting stuck on siege” and “getting stuck in wall/gate” bugs, as well as the occasional bug where you slip underneath the world when building siege on an angle
World vs World.
Seriously, play WvW regularly and you’ll be overflowing with skill points.
That looked pretty fun to be a part of
good stuff
I was able to step outside of spawn today. Got to step it up Tarnished Quarry! I don’t want to walk too far from the merchant!
It’s confirmed that when 25 or more players in a specific radius enters combat, the orange swords appear. You can get orange swords from a zerg falling off a cliff, let alone attack something
You still see the name tag in WvW, so not really an issue there
Lowering server caps could be a good start. I still have no idea why ANet increased server caps after season 2 started.
Do keep in mind that “scouting” is a community created meta that gameplay mechanics have no bearing over. A game cannot tell the difference between a scout and someone who’s afk, as they’re largely doing the same thing. How can you differentiate between two characters standing around in the same spot, while one’s scouting and the other is afk?
Since it’s a community created meta, it should be rewarded by the community – BG recognises and occasionally reimburses scouts for their time. Others should probably start doing that too perhaps?
Defending on the other hand, needs to be made easier and more rewarding. Laying down 6 superior flame rams with 10 omega golems backing you up means that there is very little you can do to defend the structure if you’re even 30 seconds late in responding, assuming you have the numbers to defend in the first place. There’s got to be something devs can do about that.
I don’t know if that was the same eotm match or not, but yesterday we were with our guild in eotm on the green side. Our weekly match-up is boring, no enemies anymore in our timezone. In this overflow match everything was almost blue.
All I can say : Sweet, sweet lootbags and a shocking moment, when I realized that the zerg, more than us, saw us and ran straight away to a npc boss.
If you are in LP or TMD, then yes
You know what’s unfair? Mesmers with their sword knock backs. Necros with their Fear. And last, but not least, only 5 other players on my side of the map at nite.
You know what makes it fair? Stability (only thieves have no real access to stability, dagger storm is nice but not viable in a lot of situations). Although only having 5 teammates would suck big time. I only head into EoTM with my guilds and friends though, so not an issue for me.
I recently went back to EotM and was surprised just how toxic its become.
Heaven forbid if a commander breaks away from the cycle and looks for fights. Someone raged about that at one stage.
Last night there was x2 large guild groups wiping the PUGs which provided interesting map chat entertainment. Comments such as “Why don’t they just go back to WvW”. After one wipe map chat erupted again and so I dropped the bombshell of “Yea, that happens in a PvP environment”, the responses provided interesting reading too.
Tbh if your server is winning the week I encourage you all to take your guilds to EotM with intent to wipe PUGs and have full faith in the fact that you will upset many of them.
Haha, I might’ve been there. 2 Green guild groups, 1 with around 25, the other around 15, and a bunch of pugs attached to both groups making it a lot more bloated. The k-trainers went straight for the NPCs without even bothering to attack the players. Was really sad. So much more profitable than k-training
Take your guild to EoTM to farm those k-trainers. So profitable. Not that fun though, when they don’t even fight back
Instead of reducing the map cap, the maps need to be enlarged.
If you can’t deal with pug zergs, might need to revise your tactics and such. I was in EoTM tonight and was farming pug zergs of 40+ with only ~15 people (to be fair, they didn’t even fight back… they just took it like a champ). The problem is the close proximity to waypoints allowing for the dead to run back before the fight is even over.
Are you guys using Overwolf? Overwolf constantly crashes causing GW2 to lag hard and, if your system isn’t beefy enough, crash GW2 as well.
I know a bit how WvW works, but I’m looking for YouTube videos or other resurces on how to 100% understand every aspect of WvW and what exactly to do in every single situation.
You can’t. Strategies and tactics change all the time. There are overall basics, but then, each guild does things slightly differently.
Open world PvP metas change depending on the community and new content released by devs. I.E. when bloodlust was introduced, it was misunderstood and not contested much, despite it being more OP back then compared to now. Now, in T1, it is the single most important factor in determining the outcome of the matchup.
Speaking of which, every tier does things differently too.
Just join a WvW guild and learn from them.
In terms of scouting, you only need 1 scout per structure. An experienced scout can cover the entire structure in under 30 seconds when the contested event starts. E.g in Garrison, I’d stand at the South East gate looking towards Watergate, which let’s me cover 3 gates (NE, SE and WG) without even moving. When the contested event starts, you have 30 seconds to waypoint back into garrison and check the SW and NW gates.
At Hills, you should stand on the north gate near the cata wall. If it’s not either of those two points contesting it, it’s definitely south gate. If your SE camp/tower isn’t taken, it’s likely a tapper. If it is taken, prepare to defend the gate with some well placed arrow carts
In Bay, you stand on the northern plateau. That covers 2 gates. If it’s not either of those two, it’s the south gate. Again, just check the state of your tower/camp.
SMC usually doesn’t need (and shouldn’t need) scouts. It’s either always contested (trebbing) or a karma train. If you are scouting SMC, best way is to build a treb on the third floor to hit your enemy server’s outer towers. From your vantage point, you should be able to cover around 1/3 to 1/2 of SMC depending on your screen resolution.
In terms of scouting, EB is the least urgent when it comes to a map needing scouts. Everything is so close together so you can respond as soon as orange swords show on the map and have plenty of time to get there. Also, due to the puggy nature of EBG, it’s unlikely that you won’t get orange swords when attacking something, so you need to prepare for counters. No shame in open field arrow carts and ballistas if your goal is to take/defend that tower.
In terms of roaming, it’s all down to your personal skill and class. Stay away from thieves and mesmers. Don’t try chase down nike warriors. Be wary of condi necros. Rangers are free bags (avoid the knock down + rapid fire combo, that kitten hurts). As you get more experienced and skilled, you can start to take on anyone you see.
It’s impossible for ANet to have made it any clearer…
This thread is a waste of time
You obviously can’t read.
What can’t I read? That people are crying they got locked out of WvW when it was clearly told to them WEEKS before season 2 started? As well as a warning screen when they were transferring? Is it me who can’t read? Or is it these people crying they got locked out of WvW who can’t read?
If you want to implement ladders, please suggest a counter siege to it as well.
Attacking shouldn’t be as easy as defending, and due to Mesmer’s portals, siege ladders would make it incredibly one sided taking a structure. Right now, we have catapults and trebuchets to kind of counter flame rams and alpha golems, as well as cannons and arrow carts to counter omega golems. Ladders would just break this tenuous “balance”
Although… If siege ladders cost 500 supply and only applicable to Stonemist Castle as well as Keeps, I’d be ok with it. It would basically mean nearly draining the entire zerg of supply allowing for limited options once you’re in.

WoodenPotatoes did a couple of videos on this kinda stuff. Pretty interesting
Peace out Allie. Not an easy job dealing with forum goers and you didn’t do a bad job of it at all.
I’m glad you’ve had it so easy. But I don’t get to play in the evenings. Normally I play early mornings and during the week days when most people are in work/school/whatever. But I’ve only managed to get 3/10 done. Some of them I thought where a bit much and I don’t think I’ll get all of them done unless I get a chance to get on I. The evenings which is probably not going to happen. Just because your having an easy time with it will not mean everyone is. And seeing as there are no dailie achevments added in on this meta I don’t think I’ll get it in the time that is left.
You got 7 more weeks to complete it
Considering it’s a 9 week event, the achievements are way too easy when they could be done in a day for the more hardcore and in a week for most casuals
you have it backwards. The top 3-4 servers need to destack, not the other way around
People like to fight in groups of people against other groups of people. People outside of NA prime on NA servers and outside of EU prime on EU servers all cluster around a few servers because of a lower population. Deal with it.
You need to join a WvW oriented guild with voice comms, whether it be skype, ventrilo, teamspeak or whatever. It’ll help a lot with your experience.
PvP is player generated sandbox content. It’s only as fun as you make it out to be.
I feel that it could put a bigger emphasis on the PvP side of things rather than capping points, but besides that, it’s plenty fun already
I smell SAB. Anyone else? Hehe
A lot of devs are part of guilds like the rest of us. I know a couple of guilds in BG had ANet employees. They throw up the tag sometimes when they feel like it, or they’re doing something related to work
Every night. Helping my server to tournament winner is motivation enough to keep me logging in.
You only need one person to cap. The rest of your zerg should be preventing people entering the circle and/or stopping the keep lord from ressing. If you’re all having a jirclecerk in the lord’s room, you don’t deserve the cap
Mesmers can eat thieves
ANet keeps the numbers confidential to prevent abuse. It’s not hard to have a bunch of spare accounts standing by to flood your enemy’s borderlands as you’re pushing their side of the map if you see it’s outnumbered, as a rather extreme example.
