Getting the same thing on TCBL, someone (who shall rename unnamed despite proudly announcing he’s a fresh account made specifically to sabotage the garrison) keeps dropping trebs on NPCs and wasting garrison supply. It’s a real shame, because BG players are good enough that their achievements don’t need this kind of behavior to taint it.
That person isn’t from BG. Probably the same person that’s doing it to BG tbh (deleting character, remaking on different server, after server capacities got increased..). This person came from T2.
Probably Mercenary Bane. I spend maybe 5% of my time in WvW in EBG, and maybe 0.5% of that time doing the mercenary camps. Utterly useless
Supply is the most important factor in the PPT game. It is quite fitting that it takes 300 ranks to max supply mastery.
Yeah, but you get +5 supplies for 300 points… You can do kitten with this +5 supplies.
It’s only usefull in a really big zerg and it’s far easier to just get the +5 buff running instead of dumping 300 points.
+5 buff on a camp. Put down 1 supply trap and still have 10 left over. Have a friend without supply capacity mastery with 15 supply. Build a guild catapult. Take a tower (or at the very least, supply damage).
Yea, you need to do figure what kind of pvp you enjoy and then research the servers from there. WvW tends to be players grouping up into large zergs and the server rankings are a general reflection of population. On the higher tier servers these zergs are more numerous than on the lower tier servers. Because of this, you’ll find smaller scale fights get a bit more action on lower tiers while the upper tiers tend to have more large scale fights.
If you enjoy a more structured pvp game mode, 5v5 conquest in the Heart of the Mists, which server you are on doesn’t really matter. Neither does your server matter for PvE content.
Do keep in mind that Bloodlust is a huge part of T1 meta and more or less determines the winner of that week, thus roamers/havocers in T1 have become the most important factor in winning the matchup. It’s not all zerg fights up here.

Blackgate is probably the most populated server at the moment, so it might not be your best interest to be on this server if you’re an American player. You also entered during a tournament season of WvW, so queues are artificially high compared to the ‘off season’. Tier 1 and Tier 2 have different mindsets when it comes to WvW though, so do a bit of reading and research and decide which tier you want to be in.
Anyway, not recommended to enter WvW at level 10. You’re lacking traits/runes/sigils to be able to compete well, especially since you’re new to the game. Try out the sPvP mode first to learn your class’ mechanics and builds
Also, CC chaining is also the name of the game here. It’s just a lot easier to get out of with cleansing/stun break/stability/dodging
Right, but any recommendations as to what to read / research to get some good info? As I said, a lot of what I’m finding is old.
And yes, I was just getting into WvW at level 10 to see what it was like. Not to compete.
I’m hoping that CC chaining isn’t as garbage in this game as it is in wow…or at least as garbage as wow will continue to be until they remove some instant CC and reduce the diminishing return categories in 6.0.
Fair enough. Tier 1 (Jade Quarry, Tarnished Coast, Blackgate) tend to play the ‘PPT’ (Points Per Tick) game, which involves trying to score as many points as possible within the week long rotation, whereas Tier 2 claims to be (I don’t play there so I can’t confirm) more about trying to seek fights. Skill wise, I’ve found that each server is similar in terms of hardcore guilds vs casual pugs.
GW2 doesn’t have diminishing returns on CC, but there are many ways you can negate CC. Different classes have different mechanics for that.
Check out Blackgate’s WvW community: http://gw2blackgate.com/

Basically any class can instagib you at that level because of all the utility/elite skills and all the defensive traits that you don’t have.

Taimi
Cause she’s kittening adorable

The dwarves as a race have sacrificed themselves to fight the minions of Primordus to delay its return. They’ve been transformed physically into living stone and become mentally linked. I hope that a side effect of us killing Primordus will be freeing the dwarves from their bond and their return to the world (as playable characters).
That just screams out ‘living story’
Oh, heck yeah!
The epic year-long Living Story toward that would ultimately lead to the return of the Dwarves. It would be as much an emotional upper of an LS ending as the destruction of Lion’s Arch was an emotional downer of an LS ending.
Well next LS is about Mordremoth, which I hope is a lot more fleshed out than Scarlet, so maybe dwarves in 2016? Lol
LF precursor scavenger hunt.
Ranged only class go staff ele. Nuff said

Difference between rank 1 and 3 server is small. Difference in rank 3 and 4 server is huge. Go figure
I’ve tried sceptre/dagger ele for roaming. Just doesn’t work well. Not enough reliable damage compared to dagger/dagger. Sceptre flame skill 2 never hits and that’s one of your biggest sources of damage. The only reliable damage from sceptre as an ele is in air attunement
Scepter almost requires you to take 30 in air for Fresh Air, whenever I play S/D without FA the set just feels really clunky. Dragons tooth is in fact tough to land but with thief basi venom landing a DT -> Ring of Fire -> Phoenix -> Fire grab combo is devastating and will start to stack a ton of might. A thief running around with 10-20 stacks of might is a force to behold. Anyways, if you like ele game play, go ahead and roll one and experiment with which weapon set fits your play style. It will definitely not be the most OP choice out there but it wont be a waste of time either.
Yeah exactly. It basically requires fresh air build to be viable, which takes a lot from either water or arcana lines. A hell of a trade off
Can eles actually become good bunkers that are fairly survivable? :o
Certainly. A bunker ele relies on a lot of dodge rolls though, but you get easy access to vigor on crit
I’ve done it before. Full PVT gear, Dolyak runes, Dagger/Dagger with auras traited to give protection. I survived a lot longer than most warriors and guardians.
My ele is now glass cannon so I try avoid commanding with it XD. Rolled a guardian for that purpose
It’s a tell in PvP when you’re about to cast a big skill such as meteor shower, which does a ton of damage, so as to allow your opponents to counter.
WvWvW isn’t serious PvP by any margin, PvE elements could make it a lot more fun.
And don’t even kitten me, for 90% of the players WvWvW goes something like this…
1. Look for blue chip on the map, run to him and hope nerdo gankers don’t kill me.
2. Follow random people I don’t know from objective to objective avoiding the other 2 realms wile we rack up loot off… PvE champsSure is PvP!
For me, 80% of the players in WvW do this: Get into map, join in teamspeak, find a way to the commander, kill hundreds of players gaining loot and dying now and then to enemy zergs giving them loot.
The other 5-10% go off in groups of 1-5 and fight small scale.
It sure as hell is PvP, and more PvE isn’t welcome. It’s already annoying as heck seeing enemies rallying off a random mob nearby
ANet just gotta incentivise participation in WvW
There’s always going to be population differences though, no matter how you look at it. There’s no server on either EU or NA that can queue 4 maps 24/7 except for a few nights during a tournament/season. If 10 people on one server stays up 1 hour later after prime time and another server doesn’t, that creates a population imbalance right there.
EoTM isn’t competitive because there’s no identity associated with one side. No communication between players to create a community. The colours change every week so why bother getting to know and communicate with these people when they could be your opponent next week? Servers have server forums and voice comms that create a sense of community when you’re logging on to them and seeing/talking to the same people everyday. EoTM doesn’t have that
The higher up the tiers you go, the more important defending becomes. There’s a lot more manpower to take a structure and defend it to deny your opponents that PPT
“Important” and “Rewarding” is not the same thing.
That feeling after you successfully defended a 3 hour long siege of your garrison? Pretty kitten rewarding I’d say

Maybe they can restrict the number of people who can transfer to a particular server per day. That way bandwagoners have a real incentive to look elsewhere while those looking to join a new community will eventually make the transfer anyway

I need to eat my words. Holy kitten HoD good stuff.
Love getting proven wrong on stuff like this.

I haven’t really been enjoying my mesmer as much recently :/ I know their stealth PU build is good butttt.. just can’t get into it for some reason. Sowwy x.x
Go for a DPS guard. Sceptre/torch and Greatsword is a common weapon set that I see. Very strong too. Mix Knights and Zerker gear for a balanced build. Maybe a bit of Valkyrie too if your hp is too low. Very helpful for a thief as thieves don’t get much access to stability while a guard has quite a lot
Shatter or PU Mesmer. A DPS specc guard can work well too
I can perfectly understand the rolling out of the mega server system for PvE, but please keep cities unique to the home server. There needs to be somewhere outside of WvW for server identity to exist, and cities seem to be the place where this is feasible.
Lol friendly fire. The sheer idiocy coming from Agg. Not surprised.
less players makes less players. people stick around because they enjoy playing with other people that is what an mmo is about if i want to play solo i have other games to choose from
There are some players that enjoy that kind of gameplay and transfer down to look for less people. Personally, I like a busy MMO, hence my home server (since launch), but not everyone is like that.
This is going to hurt PvX guilds the most – those that do both WvW and PvE. Considering the vast majority of BG’s 400+ man guilds are PvX, it sure as hell is going to hurt our community.
I know it’s going to be rolled out slowly, but I really hope that at least cities will be kept world only. There’s absolutely no reason for cities to be on the megaserver considering how packed they can get – especially when large guilds do events in certain cities.
Looks like HoD’s new NA crew can’t match the experience brought by YB and FA. If those guys stick around though, HoD will become a serious T3 contender
Prior to seasons BG was getting their kitten s handed to them every week and they rarely cried 2v1.
I’m not sure if you’re trying to troll or if you’re new to wvw. You do realize BG was trying to tank intentionally months prior to season. Why would they complain about a 2v1 when they pray everyday for a 2v1 against them to ensure they lose big every week to help with their tanking.
Don’t lose that tin foil hat now.
An elementalist used Meteor Shower. It is super effective!
You can’t invis for that long
BELIEVE!!
/15 char
The 2v1 on JQ or TC really depends on which time zone. SEA time zone, JQ and BG guilds like to duke it out with each other and there’s not much TC to speak of besides HIRE and GC pulling overtime and remnants of Hi and AT (Those that didn’t transfer to JQ). In EU, there’s not much JQ to speak of besides NA guilds pulling overtime and starting early, so Kazo gets chased around. During NA prime, it’s all about map politics since all maps get filled up and during Oceanic, it’s a giant kitten of standing around staring at each other over T3 keeps and towers until one side gets in range of siege (I’m honestly starting to hate playing during Oceanic, not enough action
LFM Oceanic for T1)
Use those cannons and fire poison cows from trebs. They absolutely destroy omegas.
Omegas are really weak to condi so get your necros and spam dat condi
As someone who played both SFR and Blackgate, I can say blackgate is still behind skills/meta wise, the first thing I noticed is people still use static for swiftness on regroups
and they run more damage then deffensive using selfish builds etc.I would love to see the NA servers to step up and show their EU brothers a thing or 2.
Bolded for emphasis. This isn’t true. Guild groups all have their guild builds.
Btw, a static field for rolling swiftness is very effective if you don’t expect a fight within 40 seconds.
BG’s primary guilds has been the same for the past year or more, with smaller guilds coming in and out.
GoF, KnT, iCoa and OnS – NA
NOC, KnT – Oceanic
TMD, ND, KnT, NOVA, LP – SEA
HB, RK – EU
We run multiple tagless guilds supporting the main guilds on each map, along with PvX guilds supporting when needed (assuming all 4 maps are populated, which usually isn’t the case these days
). There was a thread on this not too long ago about the guilds on each server. Got bumped way down when season 2 started though
I fail to see how this is an issue.
Pretty ridiculous how little info was given in the blog post about wvw, except that it was going to stay the same
S1 BG queues were insane, and we had over 500 people on our teamspeak at any given time (this season has dropped quite a bit due to recent teamspeak issues and less coverage overall, but we still get average 250 online 24/7, more during NA, less during Oceanic). I doubt Vizunah could’ve competed.
what do you mean by “queues were insane” ?
on SFR S2 start we had 250+ EBG queue, 150+ on each of the 3 borders and even 20+ on Obsidian
more than that ?
Didn’t have queue numbers back in s1, but the average queue was around 4 hours NA prime and 30mins-1hr oceanic
S2 we had 300 queue for EBG and 150-200 for borderlands on reset night

The successes of higher tier servers counts entirely upon the communities that they created and maintained. Destroying those communities means most of them will move to ESO (some already have).
I would like a class that can do well (or reasonably) in sPvP, WvW, roaming and PvE since I like to experience all aspects of the game.
Mesmer would be the best fit for all 4. Extremely strong in a 1v1 encounter (roaming/spvp), extremely useful utility/support for dungeons and WvW and all classes perform equally well in open world PvE
Looking at MOS, it appears that TC decided to play for 2nd place at around Sunday and started a 2v1 on JQ which lasted until early Tuesday. With 1st place out of the picture, it looks like JQ started retaliating on Tuesday and are now focusing on TC, leading to a 2v1 on TC.
The ex-SOR on TC did not learn anything from their mistake in Season 1 and basically repeated the same mistake a second time. Just not smart at all…
I can confirm that this pretty much happened. It was a really a low point for us in JQ, watching 1st place being served to BG by TC, and probably commanded by the ex-SoR players who jumped ship to TC.
I don’t know why there so so much fixation on JQ from TC or why they basically ensured BG got first again in this round, especially considering BG’s flawless wins in the first season. It’s something I don’t think I’ll ever understand.
We haven’t deliberately 2v1’d anyone. You let yourselves get 2v1’d with terrible map politics (such as attacking TC when they’re attacking us). Also your SEA guilds have been a no-show so far. Haven’t seen WvW or NUKE out in force and haven’t seen much of Ge lately either. Just been stOP, FOO and MERC/SoX doing overtime. They hiding out in EoTM?
OP should transfer to an NA server. NA servers are quite pug friendly, which generally results in less skillful play, but much more shenanigans
Pretty sure any NA server would beat their corresponding EU server in PPT. We do care a lot more about PPT on the NA servers. Open field fights would be another issue altogether, since our GvG scene is next to non-existant and our average pug has a brain the size of a walnut (Ooo red circle let’s stand in it)
This is assuming tournament/seasons turnouts though, when we can actually put out queues during EU prime in T1, at least during reset
The majority of servers actually coordinate and have groups of guilds that work together and have strove hard to work together and to get where they are.
To suddenly make that mean nothing would be a huge turn off to all of those players.
Has nothing to do with coverage and everything to do with how certain people prefer to play this game.
This a million times. The community built up over working together will be completely ruined by any removal of the server system. Believe it or not, there are a lot of people with server pride
Tight knit community. Why else play an MMO?
It’s terrible news for WvW. So many of us go to LA or Gendarran Fields to ask for help in WvW when it’s needed. Just going to screw a lot of PvE heavy servers over
… Time to break WvW
