Welcome to visit Desolation. Almost no queues at any hour, tons of enemies to fight and run away from, since Deso is EU tier #1 and enemy servers tend to be stacked.
How’s the NA-OCX presence? I’ll be sure to come over after the tournament thingy since I’ll be only on my main account during that time for obvious reasons
He didn’t talk to me about transferring >.> and i’m Oceanic!
I’m sorry! I had just returned from vacation and still jet lagged so I’ve been playing NA rather than Oceanic. I still got ET TS I think so I can hop on tonight to chat
oh BG you’re so predictable, sending a scout to lower tier servers to see what guilds to buy. I find it a bit suspicious that a guy from BG is “visiting” lower populated servers right before a tourny.
Take your tin foil hat off. People tour different servers all the time. I’ve long been disillusioned on seasons (since s1 even though we won). BG is also turning away any and all NA guilds
Bump! After taking a month off vacation, it’s time to accept new recruits again!
Well, it can’t get worse than being the only one in any of the 4 wvw maps (unless people were being super mean and weren’t replying, not likely).
If you talking that because of ET, yes people tend to refuse to answer even if YOU KNOW they are there…
:( ET people so mean /cry
The few people I met there and talked to were awesome but the complete lack of visible organisation really killed the experience
Typical, did you bother to read the server I recommended?
Did you bother to read my signature?
Sounds like a spy account to me. Try Black gate.
As if the inner workings of servers I’m not matched up against have any relevance to me
On EU, FSP, Piken Square, Aurora Glade and the “mighty fun” FoW/WSR/Vabbi/UW for lulz (and realize how empty they are).
If you had “localized” servers (ie : french/germans/spanish), Kodash, Elona’s Reach, Drakkar Lake, Jade Sea and Vizunah too.
Well, it can’t get worse than being the only one in any of the 4 wvw maps (unless people were being super mean and weren’t replying, not likely).
I recently bought a second account for the express purpose of touring other servers (EU or NA doesn’t really matter) and seeing their WvW
So, advise me on which servers I should visit first. I’ve already been to ET (was a bit of a nightmare) and am currently on DH
I’m just deleting characters to move servers so I’ll be coming over with a level 2 XD

Sick of the zerg? Try us out today!
IoJ has OCX as well. In order i’d say they’re SoS, DB, CD and IoJ
DB has no OCX aside from solo roamers
Transferring lower is a mistake if you like people on the maps
Every ele is going to be keeping Conjure Fiery Greatsword on their slot now (except for a few roamers or PvErs that have the golem glyph). So much for build diversity.
I still think Anet needs to take the six lowest ranked servers out of rotation and force all those players to pick a new server. Six servers worth of players (even if they are low pop) transferring into tiers 6-2 should go along way towards closing the tier gaps.
No it won’t.
I recently bought a second account to tour the lower tiers with. From what I’ve seen in the ET/Ebay/FC matchup, all 3 servers have a decent sized population but absolutely 0 organisation. 90% of the time there’s no commander on any map (on ET). Zergs are spread out and it’s really easy to pick people off. People play the siege game harder than in T1. Fights are sparse and boring. Contrary to what has been said before on these boards, the average skill level is a lot lower than in the upper tiers (will readjust this statement as I move from server to server if needed, but what I’ve seen so far is disappointing).
The main issue though? The majority of these players on NA T8 servers are NA players. NA players don’t make coverage. People from other places in the world do. The servers with “off hours coverage” will still dominate those who don’t. The tier gaps will still be there, even more prevalent than before as the majority of NA players will continue to play NA prime only while peeps from the other side of the world can wrack up the PPT for their server with little to no fights or resistance (this is of course, talking about lower tiers).

Last I saw a queue during OCX was early S2
Yeah…
OCX is the main time frame I play with my guild. What queues?
Indeed, what queues
Condi regen ranger takes forever to kill, but they don’t deal much damage either, as all my WvW builds are aimed at removing condi :p
Last I saw a queue during OCX was early S2
Yeah…
The following are sort after!
Warrior – high
Thief – medium
Mesmer – medium
Necro – low
Ele – low
Engi – low
Guardian – none
Ranger – none
We raid Oceanic – SEA from around 6pm – 11pm AEST or 4pm – 9pm SEA time and can occasionally run later than that. Contact me ingame if you’re interested
Too much GvG, not enough actual WvW, means people on those so called “GvG” servers find it hard to get new blood into their guilds.
I think this is only an NA phenomenon.
Probably. ’Muricans like to Pee Vee the Dee?

as a pvper its very different, i’m not sure i could say which is better between certain classes so i’ll put it in tiers
tier 1: god tier:
Warrior(hambow/condi cancer), Engi (turrets/condis), ele (only celestial)tier 2: high tier:
thief (condi/glass), guard (mediguard)tier 3: mid tier:
ele (all except celestial), mesmertier 4: low tier:
necro, rangerobviously it will vary based on skill, a well played shatter or PU mesmer can be OP, assume standard player vs standard player for this list.
I’d put necro a little higher on the list due to their insane condi and CC pressure as well as the ability to stay on a point forever with DS and Plague Form.
The general WvW zerg hierarchy is pretty agreed upon as;
Tier1: ele, warrior, GUARDIAN, necro
Tier2: Mesmer, thief, engineer
Tier3: Ranger
Flip tier 2 and 1 when it comes to roaming, ranger stays at bottom
If you can’t see how this would make condi even more cheesy than they already are in WvW (and continue to say how this won’t affect PvP) then you have no room to make such stupid suggestions.
Yes, conditions are too weak in PvE. This game isn’t balanced for PvE. The balancing is around sPvP where condi is at a good place. Due to food buffs, they are overpowered as hell in WvW. You simply can’t make conditions stronger
Conditions are already too strong in WvW. No need to make it directly stronger by any means. How the damage is calculated does need to change though.
This suggestion does not make conditions stronger in WvW PvP interactions.
See: After Thoughts number 3 in the OP
You’re underestimating food/crystal buffs in WvW. I can maintain over 20 stacks of bleed from my necro without even trying, even if it gets cleansed, since condition application is mainly from an autoattack (something that has to change in PvP, no conditions should be applied from autoattack without sigil and traits).
Considering I am also mainly a WvW player and have over 6k AP, I question your game time. Between sPvP, some LS now and then and a ton of dailies(over 1/2 my AP) and over 80% of my time roaming in WvW so, not sure how you barely have 4k
Conditions are already too strong in WvW. No need to make it directly stronger by any means. How the damage is calculated does need to change though.
SoR was really carried by IRON. After they left, it was really the beginning of the end. Coverage as we all know is determined by non-NA prime hours, and SoR had the biggest EU for a while with KISS, Hel, LUN and AFTL ontop of IRON. With /enough/ OCX and SEA to hold down their side of the map, it made them a pretty solid server.
So no, it wasn’t organisation but numbers, as usual.
I fought for all my other 100%. I even bought a tag, rallied the people and razed that stupid green keep during NA primetime.
Cool story. Now try to do that on TC against JQ or BG.
The people from the server helped and we were able to do it. I’m pretty sure TC can muster waaaaaaay more people than ET ever will. Now, if your server don’t want to cooperate with you, that’s not my problem…
Have you ever fought a full map queue of people in comms together? T3 home keeps rarely get taken without a double team, it’s that hard. It’s simple not about population at this point but cooperation. How many PvE players are going to be willing to change their armor, weapons, trinkets, traits and utility skills as well as join in comms and actually follow commands? Near impossible (a few would, majority won’t). Instead, commanders get abused in chat by the ‘play-how-I-want’ people when they try rally people and advertise their server’s comms.
It’s so much easier when your opponent can’t rally a zerg big enough to defend.
Depends on where on the world you live. If you live outside of North America, your low tier server and opponents have very few people online (usually less than 20 people across all 4 maps). More people as you go higher up the tiers.
That’s untrue for DH friend… They can easily put up two 25+ zergs during NA prime time, and they are able to put a 20+ zerg during SEA (which most servers down here can’t).
Saying that every server down here have less 20 people across all maps during NA Primetime is a lie. Not even on my server, which is the lowest of all, this is true. We can put up 30-40 people during NA prime.
My statement is a generalisation (pretty accurate one) of non-NA hours. Consider that T1 servers sometimes struggle with more than 40 players after 1am PST (one 15-20 zerg and the rest havoc groups, roamers and scouts), it’s hard to call anything under T6 as ‘alive’. It’s definitely for those interested in looking to get away from zergs, and not a great introduction to the game mode when you can barely find a zerg 16 hours of the day
Hello. I just came back to GW2 and began playing WvWvW. I played Edge of the Mists and thought it was fun because there were big fights constantly and those things. Then I went on to Mist War, which I thought would be better but was very disappointed because I rarely found someone, never saw a fight though. This was kind of a let down since one thing I got excited about of returning to GW2 was what I read of how WvW was. Why is there very few people on Mist War, or was it only me? I play on Darkhaven if it helps.
Thanks

To the OP: yes you’re playing it wrong. Get out of the questing mindset. Set yourself a goal (mine is to reach Lv 80 on all classes and craft an ascended set of armour for my elementalist). Find interesting ways of working towards that goal (mine is through PvP and WvW). Once you reach your goal, you’ll probably find your next goal (mine would be to get a legendary weapon).
Mounts would start to segregate players into haves and have-nots. The only way this can be avoided is stuff like the flying broom.
In other words, no to mounts
The cursor disappears when you right click. Just letting you guys know
Want duels? Obsidian Sanctum. Seriously, though it’s empty most of the time, once a high profile GvG is announced, people will go there early and duel to kill time before a GvG.
Rules are simple: fight ’til down (not dead) and then back off. /bow @ to initiate a duel.
My guild loves to go to Obsidian sanctum to ruin all the duels over there.
That’s just mean
Though if my guild goes there for duels we also organise ganks on trolls
It got dull after the 6th time, but that’s to be expected. You need to keep things varied and participate in different activities and events (LS, champ train, crafting, map completion, personal story, WvW, sPvP, world events and DE chains such as those on Hirathi Hinterland). There are plenty of things to do the first few times that it shouldn’t get dull. I’m on my 7th so it’s a bit boring since I’ve done those low level events so many hundreds of times already and it comes down to just sPvP and WvW/EoTM for levels

No one gives a poop about EoTM because it’s a glorified karma train and not wvw

Norn for leopard/bear form
If I lost a fight, I’ll happily accept my death. No repair fees anyway.
Nike warriors and stealth classes running away kittenes me off to no end though.
Um… Just a hint… JQ is the bandwagon server in T1 right now.
TC could sure use some numbers though
Wow, T1 NA doing matchup threads in general discussions now?
Why else would you want to transfer server? And with the server in question that the OP wants to transfer him to, it’s natural to reply to that.
Um… Just a hint… JQ is the bandwagon server in T1 right now.

There a simple answer to fix this all. STOP ALL STACKING TO THE TIER 1 SERVERS!!! If some of these guilds transfer to around t2-t4 we could have a much better match-up between these tiers. The coverage’s would be a lot closer so that if a server went up or down it wouldn’t be a huge gap in coverage.
Coverage isn’t about NA population. Due to limited populations playing this game, people playing outside NA can only get the same WvW experience as NA players in the first two tiers. Really only in Tier1
TC had the biggest NA population in T1 but couldn’t win because of a lack of coverage, despite being a full server.
This. JQ just takes everything at night with little to no resistance from BG and TC. Because they have full coverage in all time zones they don’t have to actually work for any of their wins. Why I say BG and TC should form a permanent alliance and attack only JQ until that server breaks apart and forces their sea people into other realms and not just stacked on the same realm. Unless TC drops to tier 2, I’d be all for that too.
Blackgate doesn’t form alliances and if TC drops to T2, the exodus will start in earnest, as history shows.
If the old matchup system was brought back, more people would quit the game because it was terrible. One sided matchups week in and week out is not fun.
1200~ish ranks… 5 ascended armor boxes, 1 ascended weapon box, never had both a box and exotic in one though.
Farm dungeons for a week to transfer gold to gems, it’ll be enough I think. It costs something like 220g to gems conversion so it’s not too much
It’s more the ‘fairweather curse’ that’s causing it. You’ll find when you’re in an easy matchup that there’s miraculously more players on your side. Funny how that works
All the NA servers are kittenes…the tiniest sight of losing and everyone screams the sky is falling and stacks up on the higher servers, that’s why the T1 servers are so stacked. Just think if everyone spread out there could potentially be like 9 servers that have evenish numbers. The matchups would be different week in and week out, it would be glorious.
Blackgate and jade quarry wouldn’t like losing.
I think you’ll find that no one likes losing. It just depends on what you define as losing. BG has won 2 T1 matchups since TC hit T1. 2 matchups in 5 months.
However, our EU would be roadbump (T2 folks work hard with what they have, but there isn’t that many) and the SEA of all three servers combined would probably come close to equalling TC but would still be flattened by JQ’s
TC only has 1 SEA guild running now, so nope. Basically, JQ’s SEA is comparably to BG, TC, SoS, Mag and FA put together right now. EU wise, it’s tough to compare right now. There’s not a whole lot of EU on NA servers and not much we can do about it.
Also, what OCX does SoS have besides TS and BEAR? Those were the only two I saw during s2 and they got wrecked by superior numbers.
Those kinds of thieves do poorly against a staff ele – control, damage, control, damage, control, damage, wait until body expires in stealth to collect bag.
I don’t suggest bringing a roaming staff ele to T2 or higher. They are fantastic in zergs but the decent thieves in these tiers tear apart staff eles.
You’d be surprised… I’ve fought a few to stalemate and once killed two thieves at once trying to kill me outside our keep (they got too greedy and got CC’d by guards while I AoE’d them to death). There’s a lot of scrub thieves lol. Myself included

Gosh darn, it was awesome to watch. My character looks like a handicapped person, but hey, everything else was so COOL!
Ele is squishy, yes, but has the best sustain/healing of any class, so it’s quite hard to kill a well geared ele who knows what they’re doing
