There is a reason they are called legendary. You don’t obtain legendary status by doing something just anyone can do.

Now the precursors are fine. Maybe a slight boost to drops just to push the tp down by allittle but not crucial. It would be nice to see more legendaries added to game. Having 2 or 3 of each weapon type would be a better solution to temper prices more than anytging

well you arent considered a Legendary hero simply because you had a huge gold and treasures vault dumped into a mystic toilet

According to your argument, why not give everyone the ability to use Shadow Refuge (with certain caveats, to prevent abuse)?

Snow leopard form is better than refuge, and open to all classes (just roll a norn). Did you miss my posts about it? Basically you roll a norn, set snowleopard, and now when you want to run away you simply pop it, hit 5, then hold down 4. In less than 3 seconds you are now far enough away to break combat and they have no idea where you went.

I love fighting thieves, cause they think invisible = invulnerable, but I know where theyre going 90% of the time, and make short work of them, since most thieves play exactly the same. Once in awhile youll find one who moves differently, but after you fight them once/for a bit, you can kill them with ease every other encounter.

I have heard this a dozen times and bet I will hear it a dozen times more, normally by the people who end up being bodies on the field shortly after bragging.

Come fight me then on your thief.

I don’t play munchkin classes, sorry, but flavor of the month is not my flavor at all. Why don’t you show us a vid you owning a thief instead, I’ll go get the popcorn ready.

As I said earlier, point me to free recording software that doesnt suck, and I will.

Stealth is the real issue here. Maybe Anet should change some current abilities so that they can apply Reveal to stealthed targets. For example, Mesmer Chaos Storm could have a 1 in 5 chance of procing Reveal on a stealthed target and the Engineer Mines could also have a chance of applying Reveal.

Or instead, Anet could even make it so that Light field combos hit stealthed targets, applying Reveal and forcing them out of stealth.

i’d say Initiative is the real problem thief has ridiculous direct damage the ability to keep inflicting it non stop without cooldowns alongside stealthing is what makes them a threat lets be honest you wouldnt care about thieves perma stealthing if they couldnt kill you in 2-3 hits .

If thieves are a problem for you in wvw then you are doing one of three things: 1.) You are being afk. 2.) You have some terribad spec. 3.) Your gearing is wrong.

One might also put this other way round, if a thief is squishy, he must be doing it wrong:
1) wrong traits and 2) wrong gear

Many thief players tell that they are squishy, but that is because they didn’t invest much anything on defense, yet they use this same argument to tell you “thief is balanced, because it is so squishy”. Funnily these same guys will tell you that your gear is wrong and that you should have at least 25k health and 3k armor or you deserve to die to a thief… I can imagine how many of those thieves players are running that high armor and health: NONE!

Prime example of double morale.

any ideas for improving the downed state at least the #3 skill ?

HARPOON GUN- will be be useful in the future ? #1 skill is pretty much slower than a non swiftness swimming player as it stands #2 is slow and unreliable as well unless combined with #3 wich has a short range #4 i actually like it its fast and hits hard #5 skill is good as well

Opinion on Gadgets will we see reduced cooldowns/better effects in the future ?

Why not give turrets a 50% damage reduct and replace the 30% damage reduct trait for Deployable turrets?

Mine Kit -Can we get this back however working this way:

Skills 1 to 5 = 1 boon stripping moderate damage mine and Tool Belt skill = The Knockback multiple boon stripping high damage mine ? (this would allow engineers to place mines defensively if all mines had Ground Targetting)

will kit refinement skills ever have separate cooldowns again and/or longer duration on some effects?

Slick Shoes why not make this utility skill work like the elixir gun’s kit refine effect so it leaves a trail of oil instead of the engineer having to kamikaze run into the target to knock them?

i know this sounds like suggestions but im just curious Why all ideas offered are simply flat out rejected or ignored

Rifle #1=Direct damage per shot =2 shots per second 2s=4 rifle shots 2k-2.3k per shot = 8k damage

The Rifle does not fire two shots a second. Go to Fort Marriner, run up to a Practice Dummy, and see for yourself. It actually shoots every .8 seconds or so—about 75 shots per minute. (I personally think it’s more like .85/second but whatever.)

More importantly, where do you get the idea that the Rifle shoots for 2K per shot?

Not every shot you make is going to crit. Unless you’re insinuating that the Rifle hits for 2K damage non-crit, which is totally untrue.

Hi I finally got a character to 80 in GW2. I am not sure how best to proceed from here. I would assume I should focus on finishing my personal story and getting geared up. Can you all offer up some direction for me please?

How should I focus my play time next to start getting decent gear? I only did the 1st 2 dungeons story mode, AC and CM. Do I need to run any other dungeoun in story mode to be able to do exp mode? I would appreciate any suggestions on what to do next.

The LS is good, and it really demonstrates a living world. However, it is missing one core component for the LS to work. It DOESN’T represent a EVOLVING world. FnF has little to no sign on the world that the event took place. Just two new instanced areas.

Ever chapter in the LS needs to leave behind some kind of NEW permanent content.

Ideas:

Dungeons/fractals
Hearts/leveling areas. FnF should have left like an underground area that was once a Molten Alliance facility. Complete with a heart, maybe a PoI, etc. IT would be in ruins and it could represent what was left of the battle we partook in.
New areas to explore
New meta events
New dynamic Events
New Jumping Puzzles
New Mini Dungeons.

You guys need to leave something behind. I see a lot of complains about it not being perm, especially in game. To the players, temp content with no perm content with it just seems like a waste of money. I’m sure many would have you put the funds of the LS into something that will stay and extend the player experience.

you missed Non Lvl 80 Friendly content (at least for temporary content)

It ruins the game for people who actually want to play as crab toss was intended. It is sad that people don’t like to compete in a game that was made for competition for the sake of a few measly achievement points.

There is a difference between earning achievements and cheating to get them. It is pathetic that people have to find exploits or different means to getting achievements. If you can’t get the achievement normally than you have no business playing that type of content, but of course you could just practice and get better.

I was called out because I was playing crab toss normally and these players were saying I was ruining it for them. I tried to tell them to challenge themselves but they just continued to call me kitten and such.

How can Anet deter these carebears? The content is easy enough , it just takes a little bit of time. I would rather have a game that had less carebears and a small population than a sea of whiners.

Players act like if they can’t get what they want as fast as possible the world is going to end. It is a game, nothing more.

I admit I am complaining about the complainers. It is just sad that people don’t like challenges. Jumping puzzles for instance are easy , but surprisingly some people can’t take the time to figure them out. They would rather cry on the forums.

sure tell everyone to stop playing thieves warrior and guardians and rangers so they dont get passive movement speed buff nor aegis then you can ask players to stop rigging the game

simply put your FT #1 will do half of your Rifle’s #1 damage

and? this is as directionless a statement as “ft does less dmg than nades.”

we do less damage than HS and 100b too…

so?

FT #1 attack= 2s +10 hits= full damage my damage=4000-5000

Lol its a relief to be a warrior in a pvp aspect of the game and not be pushed around because of class choice. So the smack talk slides out for some. Im just glad to have a fair chance as everyone else

i take that chance from warriors that obviously are exploiting a game mechanic >:L

Fishing rod isnt as great as you think! Havent touched that thing once but also havent lost a match yet

as i said im not using the rod to win i use it to pull/fear with conch players for the sake of anoying their life

It’s part of A-nets vision of the engineer being versatile. Having half the range of high armour, high hp warrior s rifle makes us anet versatile. Cc-ing ourselves even when the shot misses or our opponent actually has access to reliable stability and is immune, makes rifle anet engy versatile. Having a gap closer that is so broken it is actually slower than not using it at all and walking, is another part of anet engy versatility. Having net shot miss any moving target at range, when warrior cripple shot hits, helps anet make engy versatile. Having warrior 20% CD skill reduction also include omg piercing! for all rifle skills is much less versatile than the engy with 20% and nothing else.

3 cheers for Anet’s vision of engineer versatility.

But, but, you can use stun breaks to stop the rifle cc! Hey Anet, how about a stun break kit with 5 skills that break stun? :-P

I made the mistake to bring rifle to south sun cove. There’s enough cc there without me having to cc myself too.

Rifle is confusing to me. People say it’s a power weapon but it’s in the precision line. To make the rifle useful I don’t have any spare points to Explosives.

By the way, is there a power based kit that’s not melee and not grenades?

(I’m just tired of playing condition damage. (PvE)

You’d be surprised how much hurt you can dish out standing at that 1200 range and spamming #1 , even scarier is when a well played Rifle engie gets in close for the burst.

…or watch your Engineer getting blown to bits on his way over to the target…espically in PvP.

Why is it that, a “Rifle”, which brings to mind ranged attack, so oriented in melee damage?
Hip Shot: 1000 range
Net Shot: 1000 range
Blunderbuss: 400 range, max damage at 100(!!!) range
Overcharged Shot: 400 range
Jump Shot: 120 (!!!) blast radius (700 is the max range of your jump)

Don’t we already have pistol for short range engagement? I mean, yes if there is no close-range attack we’ll be sitting ducks when melee got our hindquarters, but 3 out of 5? That’s majority.

As it stands, when you bring a rifle, you either use hip shot from afar while 3 out of your 5 skills sit there being useless. You can always use kits and rifle is no longer relevant, but we have 4 traits for rifle, clearly they’re supposed to be useful somehow?

its meant to be a control weapon think about it what would we do once an oponent closed in and we had nothing to push em back an stun them combat aint all about damage alone.

well i had a simple solution since engineer is a Clown class as intended i decided to troll players so all i do in crab toss is smack people with planks and then grab fishing rod and conch and pull/fear to oblivion the winning players mainly the warriors and thiefs specially the ones that insult others.

this really needs to be looked into i for one Deleted SIX asuran accounts simply because my gear was too small i wanted The Predator but it was ridiculously small as well making the point of a Legendary weapon useless.

love the race but it takes the charm when your Exotic/Legendary gear pretty much suffers from scaling.

There is a simple logical problem in our downed skills. Unlike the other classes, we pull the enemy to us with #2. That means that what he has to do is simply stomp us immediatly after that, without even having to move, and we won’t even be able to use #3.

Well you probably shouldn’t be pulling them to you unless they are low on health and your #3 is ready. If you go down… and they are away from you, it’s really not smart to use #2 quickly. Force them to run up to you to stomp… wait a smidge after they start the stomp and then use #2 to interrupt. That might give you enough time to hit #3.

I’m fine with how our #2 and #3 work… I just HATE our #1. It’s way too weak.

your theory would be correct except:

Thief shadowsteps stealths and finishes #2 rendered useless

Mesmer blinks/teleports stealths and finishes

Elementalist can simply pop shield up and finish you

Ranger even if he does not have something to block #2 his pet will go after you and not let you heal

Necro Minions will tear you or he’ll just obliterate your heals with conditions

warrior will simply jump at you and land the moher of bursts or just kill shot you and proceed to finish

guardian almost same as warrior except he’ll have a ton of boons do less damage and your #2 wont tickle him cuz of aegis

so Where exactly does #2 save you or where does #3 save you even if you landed it your enemy simply would have to stand up and finish you and now you would be stuck with 20s cooldown.

even if you down them:

Thief does higher damage+ can trait for 50% more and can teleport and stealth

warrior can revive and finish you then laugh maniacally as he runs away

guardian #3 heals them and they can stilll hit you while on the heal field or heal faster with #4

Rangers their pets can attack you while they heal or pets can heal them while they atack

necro steals hp so he denies your healing by attacking you wich in exchange heals Him

mesmer creates clones while downed

1 out of 20 engineer builds works ok, quit complaining and all respec the same.

19 out of 20 of our builds are now seriously sub par, it’s going downhill.

by the looks of it we’re still gonna get even another nerf on nades some time along with our condi builds .

I’m curious how effective deployable turrets can be at taking out seige just out of reach of our grenades or the mesmers zerker phantasm. Does anyone have any experience with this tactic.

It can be effective and you shouldn’t throw the idea out. Sometimes it attacks random people, but when it does work, it’s great. Rocket Turret and Flame turrets are great for this (They have AoE). Rifle Turret is great if the siege is the only thing it could possibly attack.

both require the same setup an immobilize or stun or knockdown to land hundred blades dont give vulnerability but gives might stacks wich gives the same result. 1 might =1.5% damage if im not mistaken

…You aren’t really trying to compare 100blades to 100nades, are you? It’s really no contest. 100nades could instantly kill most people. 100blades takes longer and it cannot kill most people. Not to mention 100blades is incredibly obvious and easy to catch. 100nades doesn’t need a snare. It PULLS them to you and puts them in perfect position. Seriously. No contest.

and it wasnt instant kill except on glass cannon wich 100 blades lands with the same effect highest damage i pulled with 100nades= 16.400 highest i pulled with
100b= 19.300

now “Burst unmissable” setups :

Warrior:Bull Charge—100b

Engi: magnet pull—Rifle net/pistol glue/net turret (1 of these)—walk to exact center of player red circle and change kit to nades—hit f key for nade barrage

hundred blades took longer but it was a 2 button trick and dint require precision to be in the center of player’s hit box.

Delete all characters move to any server you like that isn’t full for free. Problem solved. Even put nice items and money you want into your bank for an added bonus of keeping them.

Perhaps reading the other 400 posts of he same thing here might have got you playing even faster!

I don’t think you wasted your gold, because you were able to keep all your characters intact. There’s a tradeoff and it’s especially helpful for new players, who don’t have a lot to lose. But deleting characters with achievements and special soulbound items isn’t worth saving the gold, in my opinion, so continuing players are ahead to use gems, which as pointed out above can be earned in the game.

i wasted the gold because when i did i only had one character wich i ended up deleting afterwards xD well it wasnt wasted since it built up my relationship and trust with the guild since they helped tons

3 secs is an extremely long period of time

2 seconds stunned, 1 second trying to heal and phase retreat back…phase worked, heal failed… backstab heartseeker,heartseeker,heartseeker shadowstab heart seeker

And where exactly did this d/p thief’s 2 second stun come from? Note that BV is only 1.5, and maybe that seems nitpicky, but in a 3 second fight .5 sec makes quite the difference

This is a really good analysis of the situation as it stands. I’m not sure it adds anything that hasn’t been said in other threads, but it does bring the entire issue under one roof, so to speak.

The difference, though, in comparing Tribes: Ascended and an MMO is the amount of new content that the company has to create to keep people interested.

In first person multiplayer shooters like Tribes Ascended, it’s all about player vs. player and that makes it’s own content. The same can not be said for an MMO. So I find it interesting that you chose to compare an MMOs cash shop to that of a FPS. I’m not sure the situation is congruent.

The question is, for me, how much money does it take to maintain that game, compared to how much money it takes to maintain an MMO. When comparing cash shops, it’s easy to make the basic assumption that the cash needs of one game are equal to another, but I don’t find that true.

Even within the MMO genre, its’ not true. WoW has a cash shop and you can buy a mount for $25 dollars or more. They charge as much as Guild Wars 2 for server transfers too…but they also have a monthly fee….a huge influx of cash every month.

Other MMOs have cash shops that are far worse than Guild Wars 2’s. They lock off certain professions or certain races. In some you can buy traits or character upgrades. In the worst of them you can buy BIS gear. It’s a pretty sad story, all together.

But because every MMO that has a cash shop and no subscription has a cash shop at least as bad as Guild Wars 2, it makes you wonder why.

I don’t think it’s particularly good to compare the cash shop in an FPS where regular content isn’t a monthly deal and no one is expecting it really, and something like Guild Wars 2. In fact, do we even know how big the company that makes Tribes: Ascended is. How many people they’re paying?

That sort of overhead definitely changes the game with regards to how “greedy” a cash shop is. I don’t have the answer, because I haven’t researched it, but I do know that it’s far easier to run an FPS than an MMORPG.

that is Precisely the point WHY must the good stuff be Monthly why cant anet simply put the items on some sort of EVENT tab and leave them there permanently that way players canchoose to grind over time or simply buy the items whenever they feel like it instead of feeling they are forced to buy or simply turn away. how is it more beneficial selling content temporarily than leaving it for sale permanently. a player that enjoys his experience will gladly pay money for stuff for the sake of supporting the game.

Everything about GW2 is turning into a cash grab…I am rapidly approaching the “uninstall” point.

Everything? really? Or do you mean random “skins” that do absolutely nothing game-wise? A chance to get one can be purchased with cash, gold or looted from mobs… I see no difference then any other MMO I have played other than they offer more ways to get them and they are not needed in the least.

Remember before release how everyone was all happy that GW2 would have stuff that would be sold as novelty, and nothing would be pay to win?

Well look now, there are people complaining for the sake of complaining because they can’t get their novelty stuff for free or for cheap.

simply sell them like Rox and Braham’s gear and everyone would be happy to buy

sadly tipping gave most noobs the idea of Selling portals they was Charging 50s per person at least on FA.

so far the only thing i dont find right is the whole 1 winner thing this clearly was meant to be a team vs team event specially with the wonderful targetting system that prioritizes everyone except the carrier

One reoccuring theme that complainers still haven’t addresed or responded to is the fact that these traps are meant for veiled zergs,

Why do they need a counter? Veil doesn’t last long and can be countered with decent awareness and tactics so why does it need a hard counter? I haven’t actually heard many if any complaints about veil lately.

Why couldn’t it be added to ranger traps?

As it is given the cost and supply requirement and build time its not going to be all that effective anyway.

precisely whats being overlooked whats gonna be spammed is the supply traps at gates and walls

Well if you say that removing stealth from a thief will help thief players l2p, you have no clue on how MMOs work, thieves are just a high damage class and their only defensive mechanism is stealth, we cant get a warrior’s armor, a guardian’s protecting boons, an elementalist’s immunities-boons-heals etc. If you are unable to fight against the ONLY class in MMOs that doesnt have a “Perma” stealth skill or a backstab skill that is always there and not on stealth attack you shouldn’t even bother roaming.

except engineers and rangers are medium armored too and they dont have stealth and dish out big damage too , Diference? they rely on actual Skill .

truth is thiefs keep saying stealth is their only means of survivability because they exploit stealth they all go 100% glass cannon since they can avoid harm at any time by stealthing that doesnt mean thief isnt capable of fighting other classes without stealth it means thief players have to l2p instead of relying on overpowered mechanics.

Let designers of all characters make tournament 1 vs 1 . I bet all my money that thief would take first place in huge advantage. Do ANet have balls to arrange that and share results with all community???

I don’t even think Thief would go amongst the top 3. The whole fuss about the class in WvW is due to the badly designed stealth and superior mobility, that’s all, just all.

pvp would be won by whoever played mesmer actually :L

so thiefs say they got nerfed bad hmm lets see what it takes to kill people :

sword/pistol- #2 shadowstep-#3 9xhits(i hit for 9ks with only 62% crit)-#5-#3-#2-#2-#5-#3-#5-#3.

yup thief definetly is a hard to play class lol.

7719 vs 15743

ProTip: If you are going to compare something make it on equal standards no kitten the warrior did more damage he was buffed to oblivion and the thief wasnt.

i ll go do this next Buffed Thief test and post screens of damage myself

also you missed my point No Cooldown on thief #2 is a shadowstep/teleport away skill
# 3 does massive damage and has no cooldown

5 Perma blind so that warrior wont even tickle a thief.

No CD ??? First time learn Thief mechanism.

Hundred Blades 8 sec CD Pistol Wip 6.65 sec CD WoW

Thief using the maximum 1x shadow step and 2x Pistol Wip(15438 DMG) =One Hundred Blades(15743 DMG) and what now ? Zero initiative and Thief can not use any other spells.

now note this was in PVP in wvw y ou can pretty much double that ridiculous damage as you can climb crit damage up to 110%+ and 100% crit rate

No one is running 100/100.

And didn’t the thief community do tests with pistol whip and determined it’s actually a DPS decrease over auto attack?

wonder how they did the tests as this attack simply does the equivalent of about 5 auto atacks at once unless you compare it to dagger then yea auto does more dps as daggers have attack rate of 1/4.
