gold infusion only affects gold dropped from monsters not reward chests or bags
at this time it is obvious thief is the faceroll class all the noobs will have it and tell others to l2p since their class requires no skill at all
even on pure toughness builds thiefs will land up to 7k damage thats 3.5k armor average
if anythign it is not the thief’s fault but how poorly armor scales and the fact theres no damage reduction against conditions.
Southsun Survival is just… an awful minigame. I have never had such little fun playing a game.

Even winning yields the same results, so don’t say, “Oh it’s because you’re bad at it you think it’s bad.” let me tell you that even people who are bad at something can still critic it, however I am not bad at it. So let’s go over what’s horribly wrong with it.
winning, being the last survivor gets 50 more points, slightly more coins (silvers) and some more karma. but i think the main goal of this mini game is to have fun in the process though.
First things first, the start. It was a cool idea to start everyone like that, but at the same time was just a failure. Dying right off the start is just stupid and you shouldn’t be able to.
actually, this is fine, working as intended. did you watch the hunger games movies? the hunger games tributes do not have 2 minutes grace period.
Even though you do come back to life you are left with half health which completely destroys you.
not really, you re-spawn in a camp and with x1 arrow and x1 ration, plus you get to scavenge for supplies immediately.
Also, dodging is difficult because there are some many people there crowded. You don’t know if it’s coming to you and because of how some races/genders look casting their kitten absurd 1 shot arrow makes it look like they are doing nothing but standing there.
well, survival is not really about skills, it is mostly about luck as well. if you are not lucky, then, too bad.
Now lets talk about this horrible 1 shot arrow. To start this one question must be asked, why the hell isn’t it a still shot? Seriously, why isn’t it? It kills people in 1 shot! “Oh it’s a channel, so it’s fine.” no it’s not! It should be a skill shot to make it a lot more fun of a game and it would fix the absolute OP ability to be something that is difficult to hit. It will be a lot less OP than just clicking on a character, going stealth and charging the shot. Just stupid.
arrow skill no.1 “single shot” takes 1.25 seconds to activate. and it is not a 1 shot kill arrow. it only kills if the target has less health remaining. head shot kills but it has a 2.75 seconds activation time and requires one to be stationary.

I’m fine that ghosts are able to set triggering traps that alert the living players where that person is, what I don’t like is how they are able to spawn karkas that 1 shot people. This should be a kitten player against player game with the survival aspects of low ammunition and low food, not player vs ghots/karkas. Just…. wow.
southsun survival is about surviving vengeful ghosts too, not just surviving players. i hope you will come to terms with that or else your rage will never end. by the way, karkas can be avoided. it take a few seconds for them to emerge. the traps cannot be avoided though.
The other thing is the point system. Why can people get 50+ points while still during the kitten grace period?
because they can. and they earned it. points are awarded for being aggressive. less points for those who choose to be passive.
You shouldn’t be able to get any points until after it.
the first 2 minutes of the game would be very boring if this is true. thank goodness it is not so.
Also more points should be awarded the longer you survive, I mean it’s a kitten survival game Anet!
perhaps survivors should gain +1 points every few seconds for being alive? i could start a survey topic regarding this and see what other people say.
Think once and while! The other thing that is stupid is that even if you die first you can still accumulate the highest points, which is completely absurd.
completely fine. they make the game more exciting. waiting for survivors to hide it out is very boring.
If you die first, you should be dead last with no points. Points should be given in order where the longest survivor gets the most and the first dead gets 0.
points should be given to those who makes the game exciting, not boring.
In the absolute majority of my games it was mostly pvk (players vs Karkas). If I wanted to do pvk I would go to Southsun Cove and farm them without playing a kitten mini game!
most of my games were player vs players though. not sure what you were doing.
This minigame is easily the worst minigame Anet has given us. Good idea, but a failure. Seriously, just a failure compared to the other mini games.

Actually, I hadn’t assumed that. What I had assumed: Ranger Pets, being their class mechanic, will naturally be superior to Turrets, a set of Utility Skills.
Necromancer Minions, Mesmer clones (or whatever minions they use their Utility Skills to create; I’m not familiar with their skill types), and Guardian Summons could all be compared to Engineer Turrets, however. So. How do they stack up?
Also, if you’re going to react to perceived assumptions by going ‘why bother trying to change their minds,’ then don’t even bother making threads like this. Certainly don’t if you’re trying to actually get anything done. If the people who proved to Anet that the Scope trait was nonfunctional had gone “Eh, he assumes it’s working, what’s the point?” it might never have gotten addressed.

theres only 2 classes with pets sure ranger pets are a crucial part to them but so are turrets to turret builds engineer as are minions to minion built necromancers as clones are to mesmers also i pretty much was considering responding pointless as you had already assumed pets and minions were inferior.

Before I even get started, I’d like to make it clear that I like to use Turrets, and think they need work, so it’s not like I’m trying to poke holes in anything.
1: Which classes are you referring to having minions/pets with more damage, mobility and the ability to crit? Don’t mention the Ranger. Pets are their whole schtick, and they can only have one out at a time anyway, while we can have up to eight turrets. Do Guardian summons, Mesmer [whatever their minions are] and Necromancer minions blow our turrets out of the water? In what areas of performance?
2: Mortar actually used to benefit from Rifled Turret Barrels…but it also used to actually be classified as a Turret in its tooltip, whereas now it simply is not considered a turret at all.
3: Yeah, it would be pretty nice to be able to target our turrets on an enemy. Be nice for other classes’ minions to be able to do so as well, come to think of it. Also be pretty kittening great if they’d stop shooting at destroyed furniture.
On a personal note, I’m kind of curious as to why turrets haven’t been allowed to scale with all stats instead of just Condition and Boon-related ones. Is the threat of a glass cannon Turreteer that traumatic?
nah more like god turrets if they scaled with vitality toughness and condition duration or crit damage if they had actual crit chances.
rocket turret would hit for like 7k on a zerk engi
with the recent changes turrets have been Almost viable but its still not enough
why cant turrets crit when other classes have minions/pets with not only about 8 times turrets’s damage and mobility but they also crit .
cooldowns still too long on the main turrets Rocket turret and thumper altho if turrets did crit the cooldown would be perfectly acceptable
why not merge autotool instalation and metal plating traits so elite supplies and rifled turret barrels could be all set in a single trait line (remove the extra bandages if you want)
maybe upgrade Elite supplies’s effect and give it a cooldown reduction on turrets and turret skills
Mortar its a turret why does it not benefit from rifled turret barrels
Mortar is pretty broken as it stands definetly needs a revamp
at an F# toolbelt skill that causes turrets to focus your target

So when Anet nerfs the drops from that particular spot, because some people like to farm it all day and night, thus ruining the game for other people, are the farmers going to blame Anet or their own behavior.
If the behavior of farmers is causing issues with people trying to do the hardest dungeon in the game, Anet will eventually just nerf the loot. Then farmers will complain the loot was nerfed, but it’s their own behavior that leads to it.
Obviously the event was meant to be beaten, because it unlocks a dungeon entrance…and that’s sort of the whole point of the zone. Getting the dungeon unlocked.
Now, if Anet wanted to, they could make it so the dungeon didn’t close and you could enter it whether people were farming there or not, but that actually goes against the design intention.
The idea is to fight your way into Arah. The entire personal story is centered around that fight.
Now some people are yelling at people for trying to play the game, yes, as intended.
When Anet does nerf those drops, I hope the farmers, particularly the rude ones, take responsibility for being part of the cause.
this people wouldnt be farming arah if all potential farming spots werent nerfed to oblivion along with even events .
but yes gotta admit farmers are ridiculously rude

Well, had ANet not been systematically nerfing any decent farming spot, thing like this wouldn’t happen.

some events take up to what 3-6 hours to spawn why do players get punished for beating the event more than once they are punishing players for putting effort into their game and actually working for their rewards.

Don’t use Mortar, it’s an EPIC FAIL. And definitely don’t trait for using Mortar, it just exaggerates the EPICNESS of the FAIL.
Want ranged AoE option against stationary targets? Use nades.
As for supply crate it’s a decent improvement to an already great elite skill, but when it comes to Elixir X, why not just take Potent Elixirs? You can pick up Fast Acting Elixirs on the way to make it an 84 second cool-down to and extended stay in the Ownage Hotel! …granted it takes some practice to get used to these forms and what strengths and weakness’ they each have…immobilize being the chief counter.

What’s all this crap about “can’t target them!!!!!!” You all know there are ground aoes and auto attack right?
you do know thiefs can move and shadow step and evade while stealthed even blind when stealthing as well right?
I played a little more with my thief. It is actually rly easy to confuse ppl and throw them off. Once you get the hang of it, many ppl maneuver themselfes in a rly bad position. And you can finish them off. I guess with no other profession it is that easy to take on 3+ opponents and have a fairly good chance to win.
However, we are talking about balance. One has to consider, when thinking about balance, that there is a balance for casual players and one for very dedicated ones.
Casual Player Balance
In the casual level thieves are fairly strong. Here it is way easier through stealth to confuse and assault the opponent than it is to predict movements and attack patterns of the thief.Dedicated Player Balance
Here the thief loses his advantage. Opponents know the most common builds and strategies of most professions. They either have played or fought most professions and builds and got their experience with them. So in result, they can anticipate the thieves behaviour or react fast enough to be able to defend against them.So one has to consider the balance in both player levels when thinking about the strength of thieves…
then theres the Dedicated Thief player
who will have also studied other classes as well and figured how to get the upper hand.
the thing about thieves is it requires near to no skill to play as one to competitive level against other classes not only can they stealth almost indefinetly they have ridiculous damage output when you combine their direct damage and attack rate they also have the highest mobility and can spam gap closers wich doesnt leave room for errors to other classes whereas a thief can just keep stealthing if he messes up
the most common responses yeah but thieves are the most squishiest class so its fine
to this excuse i say : it is an overused lie the reason you’d be squishy is because 99.8% thieves run berserker builds wich makes ALL classes squishy apparently not thief if you consider their unbalanced mechanics
Thiefs have no aoe’s : again this is a lie use a shortbow and you ll maul groups from afar the auto attack alone bounces on up to 3 targets untraited and even more traited
then theres clustr bomb wich deals massive damage and adds up to 6 stacks of bleed

so yeah i wanna see what other excuse someone else tries to come up with next
sometimes if you start the extra worker upgrade while theres an upgrade started it causes the upgrade to stay stuck at 99-100% and not finish .

I don’t think people blame MF gear for dungeon failures. They just agree that someone bringing MF to progression content is selfish and hurting the group. That’s not a debate… You’re bringing less stats in the hopes of an increased .01% chance of getting a yellow.
1 the stat diference wouldnt be all that big for a non zerker runner
2 the player’s playstyle is what should define is he’s selfish or not for example i run with a support/damage build sometimes i may not hit as a zerker but i can endure almost as much damage as a guardian while blasting AoE heals and regens and cleanses about every 5 seconds.
3 well some people have been playing for so long and barely even gotten one exotic item while some random new player grabs up to 3 in a single dungeon run at times .
people should stop being so judgemental about MF too i got kicked out of parties cuz the pirate runes bird spawned while my whole gear was pretty much dungeon gear to begin with berserker to be more precise. if your MF player is outdamaging your party suck it up is all i can say

41 people throwing their golems away is imo just evidence that the cheapness of certain Siege is infact a problem.
That video was from last year, well before golems were on the TP and they cost 1g for an alpha and 5g for an omega.
Can you imagine now that they’re much cheaper?
here’s the thing i Wish whole guilds and zergs came as golems do you know how easy it would be to obliterate them heres the thing :

At least we have an interrupt, (two if you count the 3rd) – some classes don’t even get one! They just have to hope the enemy is stupid not to know where they went lol.
lets compare our interrupt to other skills:
engi interrupt pulls the enemy wich results most of the time in aiding our stomp
vs
Necros steal hp with auto attack and have a fear
Rangers have an interrupt and super pet heal
guardians have an aoe knock back and a heal over time ring wich gets em up fst if number 4 skill isnt interrupte
warriors have a knockdown hammer and revive temporaryly with number 3 wich a 50% chance of stayin alive if kill the target 100% if traited
mesmers confuse with downed auto and can pop in a clone decoy as well as summon a killler clone that for some reason deals massive damage
Elementalists have vapor form and a 10s cooldown immobilize
how is a 1s interrupt and pull enemy to you better for you ?
Worst downed state skill? NOBODY suffers like the thief in that aspect. A downed thief is under most circumstances, a dead thief.

the class is just fine it was balanced because as it standed it was a hit 1 and relax while pet mows down enemy class bows got a nice buff and i still do huge damage just fine .

all I got to say is lol learn to play thief before trying to critique it. As far as the rest goes go right ahead and spam 2 you will be out of initiative with nothing to show for it since its weaker than auto attack above 50% health. Then there are the war and guard and ranger that can run full tank and still dish major dmg with little effort. As for your theory on traits traiting spam initiative really hurts your dmg output only reason people trait this is for lots of stealth; and finally we come to the last part here ill show you STEAL “Shadowstep TO YOUR FOE and steal from them” NOT BEHIND THEM and since when does dodge or evade have to LAND. Getting behind target is all on thief there is no magic button to appear behind someone and if there was any ok player would know the bs was coming and DODGE, EVADE, INVUNERABLE, OR BLOCK also FEAR AT YOUR OWN LOCATION DOESNT REQUIRE TARGET NONE OF THESE DO! On top of that there is a thing called Ber/Moa morph Mesmer that runs same ex dmg with little effort and almost no risk due to mass clones and stealth oh yah forgot to mention they have aoe dmg too not just single target dmg.P.S. Id like to see this initiative RUNE plz
however if your oponent hasnt seen you you can move behind and steal to them
or if hes just running you ll steal behind him as well before he even notices you
your opponent wont be able to dodge your first strike if he dint see you block usually requires a shield wich not everyone has invulnerable also makes the oponent unable to use skills as well so he wont kill anyone during this state thief auto attack is really strong as well so its not like heartseek does paper damage to begin with
and that was a kitten out i call signets runes and call runes sigils for some reason.
PS i play a thief at times so im not talking things blindly
i know heartseek spam is a waste of resources but go to pvp rooms or wvw and you ll see most thiefs blasting up to 4 and 5 heartseekers at a time .

To be honest I quit reading once you started going on how thieves were OP; like I said the QQ brought thieves to this. Seriously look at pve stealth is useless:
1 doesn’t reset agro tables bringing me to point 2
2 OH NO I am almost dead ill stealth …..TOO BAD enemies keep attacking you while you are in stealth
3 PVP has no issues killing off thieves and constant stealth is pointless since you cant cap nodes that way
4 you wonder why you are getting killed by thieves in wvw anymore here is your answer that ONLY thing left to do

Real point here is your wont get insta killed NO MATTER WHAT unless you are running full zerker and even then you really have to have no idea what to do, be afk, or not paying attention to not see a thief coming. Seems that lots of people don’t have issues killing thieves in wvw even now any good Bunker/ Retaliation Guard, Ber Mes Beast Master Ranger, Semi Tank HB War, D/D Ele, or even Necromancers have no issues at all. Do thieves need more QQ to incite more hate and nerfs no; they need something else they can actually do with their character. If your only argument is people hate thieves for being thieves that’s kinda pointless. Do you hate birds for being birds? Thieves have 3 seconds of stealth and who cant see a thief from 3 seconds away not to mention they have to get to you , get behind you, and land their backstab. There are things such as BLOCK, INVUNERABLE, DODGE, FEAR, EVADE, KNOCKBACK, KNOCKDOWN, STUN, IMOBALIZE, I think I made my point. As for the rest of wvw when is the last time you saw a zerg of thieves taking your tower/ garrison ect. They have good SINGLE target dmg only so you cant say thieves should go do something else when they CANT.
pst Thief has a skill called Steal that shadowsteps you behind your target and traited stealths you even better if you combine it with basilisk venom .
odds are Fear Knockback Knockdown Dodge evade stun imobilize will be useless since they wont usually land.
2 oh enemy spotted me and hurt me LOL i’ll just stealth and teleport away and heal and /laugh 12 times
3 so why is it fair for thieves to punish berserker players for running berserker builds but its unfair for other players to kill berserker thiefs?

how is thief underwhelming in pvp if all they need to do is spam #2 with daggers
rezzet obviously has no clue. Spamming #2 with daggers will drain your initiative very fast and do only 50-60% damage to an opponent, who forgets to dodge. Afterwards, the thief is done for.
Also he has no clue why thieves are squishier than other classes. Thieves have access to a few stun breaks, but they don’t have invulnurability skills or blocking skills, or damage reduction skills. All they have is stealth, and they can still be hit easily while in stealth.
Obviously, Rezzet was not able to apprehend to counter stealth, most likely because he is lacking skills as a player and is now blaming the mechanics, instead of himself. Many people, who blame thieves and invisibility are the same as Rezzet. Don’t bother.
And if Anet should be lacking so much intelligence as to grant them their feeble wishes, there is nothing we can do about it except quitting to play thief. Anet will see the immense drop in thief players and revert the changes, just as they did before.
no you like others Assume i have no clue that thief has traits increasing Max initiative and initiative regen even gain initiative with auto attack and that theres an initiative rune .
sure thiefs dont have acces to many stun breakers but they got a cooldownless stun breaker with sword mainhand and lots of shadowsteps and teleport .
how exactly is thief squishier than other classes other classes cripple themselves with invulnerability as it disables utilities and skills.
also i never said anything about stealth nor that i cant kill thiefs just that theres a huge skill gap between playing thief and playing other classes.

I mean come on people, sure stealth thieves are annoying but look at this; other classes have the d/d ele, the ber mesmer, the beast master ranger, the bunker or retaliation guardian…..need I go on. Thief is good at one thing that’s walking around wvw killing people trying to wonder aimlessly or farm nodes. In pvp and pve thieves are beyond underwhelming and as part of the bigger wvw picture they contribute way less than any other classes. So to sum it up thieves can either be constantly stealth annoyances, that cant do much but troll or they can be extreme spike classes that are great vs single targets but can die really fast if they mess up. If a thief hits you they got REVEAL and remember if they are doing good dmg that means they are GLASS. There are few exceptions to this, but the thief needs the stealth to survive that’s it take that away and what do you have a really easy target.
well by your logic EVERY CLASS should have stealth as long they run berserker builds
how is thief underwhelming in pvp if all they need to do is spam #2 with daggers
use your blind and teleport skills in pve and shouldnt have a problem
Warriors do more damage then thieves.
Axe autoattack’s 3 chain does more damage then backstab.
Whirling Wrath does more damage then backstab.Lies, not even the 3 hists of axe autoattack are the same damage of 1 single backstab, even dagger autattack does more damage, what are you doing here in this forum?, you clearly have a thief that enjoys 1 hit killing people.

Backstab isn’t the 1-hit-kill attack you say it is. Its less damage then most other normal abilities.

heartseek does massive damage and has no cooldown
pistol whip is basically a 9 hit version of 100b with a stun

you do Not want a protection build with thiefs stealing boons now.
however why are you using a sword instead of an axe i ve had eviscerate landing for 30k hits on players stun with shield and slap thief with eviscerate and give em a taste of their medicine.
even for non althoholics this is terrible it locks players in specific builds since its so hard to obtain ascended gear they actually need/want now take this issue and multiply it by number of alts and now you can see how massive this issue is. basically it takes 4 months to get 2 accesories only 1 month for amulet rings take 10 days if you do daily fractal or 2 months if you go for laurels .
These are slightly off. You can get them much quicker.
2 Rings, Well you can get 1 Pristines a day per character per 10 levels in fractals. I could at the moment if I could be bothered with my alts get 11 Pristine Relics in a day. So it would take 2 days. But even then most people that do lots of Fractals have so many spare rings. I have a set on every one of my 8 characters. 3 of my characters have 2 sets and I have about 20+ rings sitting in the bank (after selling duplicates). So no real issue getting rings for alts.
Necklace. Now you can get them for 20 Laurels and 250 BoH. So if you do some WvW (or even tkitten Jumping Puzzle every so often) you can get 2 of them a month..
Backpack. Now these can be expensive. But I do now have them for all of my 8 characters, it’s just a case of grinding fractals or grinding money. There is no huge time gating on them.
Earrings. I’m now getting one every 2 weeks, so I can do a character every month. This is probably the slowest one at the moment. But you can always throw Laurels at it if you finish your Necklaces first.
So Anyway out of 8 toons.. All have rings. All have Backpacks. 4 have Necklaces. 2 have Earrings (but I have the tokens for another toon, once I decide which to give them too).
I wouldn’t say it’s that bad for alts.
I would like to point out to you that I stated in the initial post this is mainly for those who are unable or wont do guild missions or fractals… I myself can do fractals but that’s it I can’t find a guild to do missions with so the necklace and accessories are going to dig into my necklace time and my pocket due to big ecto requirement. The system is just a massive time gated play this or you’re to be punished with a much more expensive version of this item kind of system. I explain that in the initial post to.
12 comindations + 5 gold and a chance to get them upon compleation VS 40 laurls +50 ecto with no alternative outside of guild missions ……
10 pristine fractal relics sand a chance to get them upon 10,20,30 complete VS 30 laurls
Necklace is 30 laurls or 20 laurls + 250 badges of honor
I’m factoring in the monthly.
3 1/3 months + 100 ecto vs 4-28 days +10 gold…. This is just doing daily/monthly vs doing the content they rope the content to. I did 30 day resets for the monthly and factored them in.. The difference between them is staggering it’s nearly a x3 factor for those who don’t do the content….. For them saying they want players to play how they want they sure punish them hardcore for avoiding content they don’t want to do. Most of the players I’m talking about don’t like wvw or fractals and are in smaller guilds who would rather keep to themselves….
Keep in mind though this is for current content and is not including the backpack I don’t include that because you can craft one yourself When they add armor and weapons this is going to be hyper extended if they keep going at this rate… Imagine 30 days per 1 piece of armor and then like 50-60 for the weapons…. It will go upwards of 1+ year to gear 1 character for players who only do daily/monthlies and if that person misses a few days or a monthly due to real life butting in that time goes up….
I have 11 alts, yes ascended is a nightmare, especially since i hate GW2 dungeons/FotM, but to me the main issue above all else is the gating builds, Ascended really forces one build mindset which in modern MMO’s is pretty dated and bad…

TL;DR
The system is easy IF you take part in the content…. If you don’t like said content they punish you with a system that takes 3x-4x longer to progress the characters… It discourages gearing alts or even getting a 2nd set for your main character in reasonable time.

The overcharge of turrets doesn’t take place immediatly after you press the button: you have to wait the next “cycle” for it to activate. You can avoid this delay if you buttonmash the skill when you put down the turret, in that case it will overcharge right after it’s been placed.
I returned to play engineer since the change to healing turret and sticked to it, it never failed to activate for me. Try to overcharge it right away and see if it still fails.I have a similar issue to the OP where I get no heals out of the turret and this may explain it.. you are saying the second press of the heal button (6) must occur immediately after the first press? If there is a delay between the presses then the water field may not go down immediately when you press the button the 2nd time?
Also, you do need to delay the detonate after the 2nd press for a second right? i.e. mash 6 repeatedly and then pause briefly F1 to detonate? Thanks, I have been using the healing turret but sometimes it just doesn’t work and I’m pretty sure I must be doing soemthing wrong probably with the timing.
if you detonate too fast you ll destroy it before it even heals or gives you regen boon
if you hit 6 after it did its regen spray effect will take 3 seconds to proc as it activates on next spray i’d say you just need better timing.

Because an Elementalist will just run away and hide, especially with allies or a tower/keep nearby.
Because a Warrior will just go Vengeance mode, get half his healthpool back and stomp your face in.
Because a Ranger will get rezzed by his pet.
Because a Necro will just dps you back with drain life and heal himself with it, staying alive much longer.
Because a Thief just goes invisible, and can still hurt a lot.
Because an Engineer is just boned.
Because some professions and builds dont have a means to outrange a downed player.I do believe boons persist when you get downed, and so should conditions. However conditions are honestly a mess in this game.

Warrior could use endure pain and finish
elementalist has the reflect shield and whatever the rock thing is called wich can use to finish
engineer eh elixir S and finish ? smoke bomb and finish? nade to death from 1500 range
ranger can use range or simply go invulnerable as well and finish
necro has his transformation he could use to endure hits and finish
guardian has aegis and blocks like crazy
well only class that gets away with the cheap downed is elementalists by tower/keep gates
not downed state’s fault 90% players run glass cannon and dont keep a safety skill slotted in utilities.
