The Real Problem is Time

Riot Inducer.8964

Time Limit designs like these = Simin boss in Path 4 Arah.

Eventually, Anet WILL “nerf” the HP bar b/c it is unfair to MOST of the builds and classes that Anet themselves originally intended the game to have

I’m actually AGAINST THAT sort of “Dumbing Down” though.
Yes I’m still against stupid “DPS Checks” masquerading as “challenge” b/c they’re not Challenges, they’re just more Gear Checks & Artificial Difficulty which any idiot can see: If that wasn’t the original design of End Game, this game would still have a lot more people sticking around for end-game and the Dungeon Forum wuoldn’t be a seething self-hating neglected & cry-for-attention cynicism-fest that it currently is with maybe 2 Devs posts tops per 6 months in it…

But back to the point: It’s possible to still keep this Event kind of high-brow and actually make it fun for everyone, WITHOUT just shifting Stats around. ….HOW? By giving sub-Par builds more ways to directly DPS the dragon General itself.

Problem & their possible solution:

  • #1 Many builds & non-80 players are ill-suited to even be participating at all….
  • #2 the Champions don’t drop loot… that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t drop ANYTHING through…. look at WvW…. what’s the most important resource there?? SUPPLY.
  • That’s right, let the Champ Drop be Supply that people can build extra Seige with
  • (as long as it’s confined to the intended playing space of the event, IE: No Trebbing from an unpathable Pyramid in the back that the AI can’t counter attack)
  • People who die & don’t listen by respawning far away, are hurting everyone else
  • Solution: Automatically warp anyone who totally dies too close to the dragon, back to a WP far away so that they’re no longer Upscaling the mobs around them
  • Most players aren’t used to or just aren’t willing to counter the Poison condition properly and also Revive others before they’re totally dead = event fails
  • Add some incentive or reward every time they cure poison on others and revive players before they get downed. …. something besides just a sliver of XP … something innovative that helps the event succeed or buys everyone a few more seconds to complete it.

Completely agreed, the general mechanics of the fight are quite fun and good, but the blatant gear/DPS check of the actual fighting is just stupid.

One other thing that I think it’s important for them to consider when making any changes to the event is the sheer manpower requirement. Organization aside the event just does not scale down at all, requiring 100+ people is steep even if it was a simple zerg-spam fight. What will happen down the road when people aren’t flocking in droves to the area? Will a large guild who rounds up a good organized group of 40-ish people even have a chance at it just due to the fact that it doesn’t scale down at all?

None of the examples posted in this thread have looked terribly necro-ish at least not in the Guild Wars style. However in GW1 most necro spells (and most spells in general) had some sort of symbol that would appear above or around the character as they cast.

for example: http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/f/ff/Deathly_Chill_animation.gif

So I’d certainly be for more spell visual effects drawing on that idea.

Riot Inducer.8964

Honestly I think the new mechanics of the Teq fight are fine it’s just a matter of it being way to over the top as far as manpower requirements go. It’s designed for 80+ people atm, well in a few months when Teq isn’t all the rage anymore it’s going to be kitten near impossible to round up 80+ people to even attempt to fight him.

If they intend on making other dragon bosses as tough as Teqautl is now they had better make it so it at least scales down so groups of 40 or so can reasonably have a shot at it.

I’ve decided to do once a day for the wings. I was shocked at today I guested 2 high tier servers who I had guested yesterday. They dropped half in numbers and I wasnt sent to overflow.

Same here, everyone’s stressing over trying to kill him and I’m just like, “Don’t mind me, just picking up teeth to earn my zombie wings.” Maybe I just did the participation daily at non-peak time but when I did it we barely had 60 people in the area. Seems like people are already either abandoning ship in mass on smaller servers or outright giving up on trying.

What Did You Use ?

in Necromancer

Riot Inducer.8964

Well I guess I should ask what utilities you’re using with this setup/what “build” you’re aiming for currently.

If you’re going full power and wells I’d say stick with the main-hand dagger, and though I’m not a huge fan of it the warhorn would probably be a better off-hand for that playstyle.

If you’re going with minions then most definitely stick with the axe/focus as you get a lot more out of vulnerability on your own than most other characters. That said MM is pretty flexible and the meat-shields make going in with a dagger perfectly viable as well. In fact while leveling my MM I did use D/D for some time.

If you’re going condition oriented then yes you’d best keep a scepter on hand at all times.

Honestly though I personally recommend having a staff with you at all times, even just as a backup in your inventory for champions or other things that force you to fight at range. I find it to be a great every-man’s weapon that provides something useful no matter your build. It has some strong hits that can be useful for dagger based power necros who need more AoE outside of wells. MM’s can make great use of mark of blood for a very cheap minion heal. And of course condition builds get lots of mileage out of it thanks to the bleeds and AoE fear.

Should I even bother?

Riot Inducer.8964

This might sound odd, but oh well here we go…

If you want the achievements or just really want to experience the fight with a reasonable chance to win, I would recommend the following:

Pay attention to the threads that talk about how close (or ones that have) certain servers have gotten to killing him.

Take into consideration api event timers for those servers.

Guest to one of those servers and get to sparkfly asap.

Make sure you are not in overflow.

I might actually try this, I have a friend on Sanctum of Rall I could join up with. I think I heard they managed a kill over there.

We’ll see how I feel tonight, I’d really like to get more out of the living world updates but it just feels like they’re excluding casuals more and more every time.

Should I even bother?

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: Riot Inducer.8964

Riot Inducer.8964

So just as a preface to this I am a casual player who is lucky to get two hours any given night to play. I am not apart of a large organized guild, we don’t do WvW we don’t have team speak, when we do dungeons we’re lucky to get a full five man turn out.

Just wondering if I should even bother sinking any of my limited time into trying this new fight.

For one there’s my small guild situation as I’ve said which means I’d likely be going in with one or two friends so we’d not be able to achieve the mass cooperation necessary for this fight on our own.

Then there’s the overall gear/build limitations I’ve seen talked about. From the sound of it anything with condition or critical strike reliance is right out since you can’t crit on Teqautl or some of the other enemies and everyone knows the woe of attempting conditions on a world boss.

Well that kind of limits me considering I’ve only four characters (my four lvl 80s, all others are far to low level), two of which are set up around either conditions or critical strikes. My most power based characters would be my Ranger or Minion Master Necro but taking pets against a boss of this scale is just asking for problems.

So what should I do? Attempt the new fight and risk just wasting my limited play time due to the frustrations of coordinating with masses of randoms, frustration from having little to no place in the fight for how my character is equipped, or should I just ignore this like most of the past few living world updates?

Well there’s a very good reason you’re mistaking some prophecies music for some GW2 music. Anet has reused a lot of tunes from prophecies, much of it due to player request I might add. I still go all nostalgic when I hear the Shiverpeaks Theme start playing in GW2.

What new spells do U want in the big update

New spells I want are new minions to satisfy a few things that I think could be expanded upon: condi-based minions, self-sustain minions, tank minions, and mass-produced minions. Not necessarily needing 4 of each, but even a single skill that addressed each of those areas would be nice, so minions could have a bit more variety.

And I want Orders.

My thoughts exactly, more minions allowing some build diversity within the MM playstyle and bringing back the Order spells for some real fun Necro-styled support options.

Just randomly I put together an idea for what the Hammer could be like. Probably a bit over the top but hey it’s fun to throw ideas around

Hammer
1. Ghastly Swing: Melee damage, cleave
i. Ghastly Smash: Melee damage, cleave
ii. Deathly Chill: AoE damage, short duration Chill
2. Lifebane Strike: AoE damage & Life Force gain, increased damage and life force vs. foes with low health.
3. Mark of Fury: Mark that damages foes and gives allies Fury.
4. Shadow of Fear: Send out a shadow of fear to make foes flee (cone AoE fear).
5. Weaken Knees: Cripple nearby foes, foes already suffering a condition are knocked down.

Minions are actually remarkably good for general PvE, they’re extra damage and meatshields, they’ll chew through standard mobs with ease and even make group events very manageable on your own. They suffer in some of the world boss fights where the whole area is peppered with AoE, but against garden variety champions they’re incredibly useful.

Give me a shield with defensive moves. Scepter/shield ftw.

Meat Shield!

New spell on slot 5 for off-hand shield causes a minion in slot 7 to port into your off hand and take one for the team. Like a shield skill, if canceled before the timer runs out, it can activate an offensive skill as it dies. If the timer is allowed to run out or it takes too much damage, it dies and slot 7 goes into CD. Minion/shield defense is a combination of the regular shield and minion attributes.

Seems overly specific of a requirement for a weapon skill. But it’s a cool idea. how about instead of requiring a minion you summon bone walls like Tequatl does that’d do basically the same thing?

Thematically the torch would make sense as torches, candles and other fires have been used in necromantic rituals all throughout Guild Wars. We wouldn’t have to light people on fire with it but we could easily use it to perform any number dark rituals. In fact I think it would be far more fitting if the torch had no burning, it’s a ritual item not a blunt instrument to beat enemies with.

I like the bone armor you get from wvw vendor. Cheap and necroish. Also Final Rest is the only scythe in game currently.

This is what my necro uses. It’s great, easy to acquire (can be found at low levels from karma vendors and crafted under the name “Shadow Armor”), and at least in the case of human females it’s one of the only really good armor options for necros.

I also have a friend who’s fem human necro uses the exotic skin “Acolyte” armor (think it’s called “Seer” in the PvP locker). It works quite well for necro armor when given a dark color scheme.

All in all though I wish there were more options for necro-style armor, there’s all of two or three sets that really fit the rest are obviously tailored to the traditional mesmer/ele style. What I would give to get my old Krytan Armor back.

Charr are weak, apparently...

Riot Inducer.8964

Well the legions do have some issues working together to be sure, the Ash Legion early stories paint this all too well. That said, however, I think the Charr have had a lot more to deal with than the Humans.

For one there’s the Flame Legion who are far more organized than the bandits and far better equipped than the centaurs. Then there’s Ebonhawke that required a constant siege by the Legions to stop the Vanguard from getting out and going on the exact kind of guerilla war the Seperatists are now doing. And there’s also the ghost army, that is an army made up of the entire former population of Ascalon that will rise again and again forever. Then on top of all that there’s the Dragon Brand which made a big swath of Ascalon largely uninhabitable and has been belching out new hordes of enemies to assault the Legions ever since. And that’s not even mentioning smaller threats like the Ogres who keep clashing with the Charr for territory.

The Charr have, all told, unquestionably the larger and more dangerous army, they just have WAY more threats to deal with on a daily basis to be sending their full strength marching on Orr.

Living Story is Killing the rest of the game

Riot Inducer.8964

I agree with the OP, the Living World stuff, especially the last couple of updates feel like they’re creating the very problem that GW1 suffered from, that is the whole empty world issue.

By the time they released Nightfall they realized the game world had become too large to support their playerbase. Players were too spread out to make grouping with other people in the majority of content feasable. Heroes, and later the Zaishen dailies helped alleviate this since it would help congregate players.

With the current Living World state of things it feels almost as though they’ve introduced the Zaishen daily missions when there was only the Prophecies Campaign available. The world isn’t too big yet but they insist on herding all the players into one area, and it’s artificially creating the empty world syndrome that GW1 has.

How exactly do they plan on adding new races?

in Living World

Posted by: Riot Inducer.8964

Riot Inducer.8964

Adding in a new race, Tengu for example, to the personal story as it stands wouldn’t really be that hard. Destiny’s Edge honestly doesn’t play that big of a role in the personal story until the last act, and none of the dungeon stories actually acknowledge the player’s race. All it would take is for there to be a Tengu mentor character who would serve the same role as the other race’s DE mentors. This mentor would have some interest in reuniting Destiny’s Edge, all it would take is for the Tengu variations on a few personal stories to include this new mentor. Quite literally everything else in the personal story could be left as is.

Riot Inducer.8964

I really wish they’d go back to the pace of the Flame and Frost LS, it did start a bit slow to be sure but it was around long enough that you could immerse yourself in it without feeling rushed. It also let them more fully flesh out the narrative.

What’s more is that it meant you could still enjoy the base game. You could take some time do the current living story stuff and then go about your merry way and enjoy whatever else you might like to do. Level a new character, get in on some PvP, go run a dungeon with the guildies. With the current pace of LS content it’s hard to find time to do anything else, and with everyone clustered in a few maps doing nothing but zerg farming it’s rather difficult to do much else outside of the LS content since every zone that’s not being invaded is an absolute ghost town.

This evening I went to try and finish out my QJ achievements only to find that the pavilion was now closed down on account of the new content. So I decide to just go hit up the last balloon towers I need, and Ascalon was the place to do it. I walked from the Black Citadel through every zone except Fireheart Rise and I encountered a grand total of eight other players in my journey.

Why I have never rolled a Minion Master

Riot Inducer.8964

So eagerly i looked up the Flesh Golem in gw2, and was underwhelmed by the small spike arms and seemingly low res textures. I have tried to love it, and accept it as the rightful heir to devastation, but i cannot.

anybody else feel this way? anybody else remember the glory that this guy used to be? Convince me the new one is cool guys, i WANT to believe

I felt the same way as you when I first saw the new flesh golem. He was just so underwhelming in appearance in comparison to his GW1 grandaddy.

But I think you really should give him a chance, all appearance aside he’s an absolutely great elite skill, and the only elite skill that has a persistent effect. He hits hard and when you learn to use his charge active skill he becomes even more satisfying to use. Send him into a group and watch them scatter like bowling pins! Send him charging destroyable objects and watch them crumble beneath him! Watch as enemies pitifully try to use their knockbacks, stuns and other control skills on him after he charges, the long lasting stability he gets from it makes him the big monstrous champion of the minions he was always supposed to be. What’s more is that unlike the GW1 minions and the other GW2 minions he will fully heal outside of combat. So that’s less time worrying about keeping him alive more time enjoying the sight of him crushing your foes!

I’m as nostalgic of a necro as any for the old GW1 Flesh Golem. But honestly by the time I stopped playing GW1 regularly the real gold in minion mastery was mastering Order of Undeath. The Flesh Golem may have that big awesome hulking minion power rush but nothing can compete with a row of bone fiends firing volleys that each do over 100 damage per hit. Nothing not even hard mode mobs could survive such an onslaught.

If I could bring any necro skill over to GW2 it would be Order of Undeath, that glorious “power to the max” button that turned your little pack of meat shields into an insatiable horde that tore apart anything that crossed it’s path in seconds.

I like all the new content we’re getting to be sure but as others have said it feels like such a waste to just get rid of it all in a couple weeks. They’ve added so much content but yet most of it isn’t actually in the game anymore.

It really boggles my mind, especially as a GW1 vet. I remember eagerly waiting on the new War in Kryta updates and playing the newest content. The difference here is that I can go back anytime I want and play through all that content and even get all the same rewards. Now sure GW2 has an open world that makes something on the scale of WIK unfeasible. But the thing is, most of the really major LS content to date has been done mainly through instances, there’s no good reason not to put in “replay NPCs” throughout the game that would let you replay these instances and dungeons.

Vodac covered the basics but one thing about Charr first names that’s worth noting is that there’s now two distinct types of charr first name. There’s the classic “beastial” sounding names that are in line with all the charr names we saw in GW1, things like Howl, Maw, Kragg, etc.

But there’s also a lot of Greico-Roman inspired names as well, this comes in as part of the charr’s “new culture” that goes along with the Roman ranking system and focus on advanced technology. These are names like Ajax, Sergius, Tycho, etc.

Questions about Charr Lore. Fahrar and more.

in Charr

Posted by: Riot Inducer.8964

Riot Inducer.8964

1. Fahrars are in fact linked to a legion, cubs are always sent to a fahrar of their parent’s legion. In the case of parents being from two different legions I suppose it’s up to them where the cub is sent.

2. I’m not sure it’s ever stated anywhere just how long cubs train in the fahrar before “graduating” to full warband status. They become competent fairly quickly after birth we know, but that trend could fall off and they could have comparatively long childhoods. Honestly I’m not even sure it’s ever stated anywhere just how long a charr’s lifespan is. Really, fahrar training could be as little as a year or over a decade.

3. I recall overhearing some npc cubs trading stories of who’s pre-fahrar upbringing was tougher. One cub mentions she was born in the Brand and the fighting there was so intense that she wasn’t able to be sent to a fahrar for six months. This implies that charr are ready for fahrar training in at least six months after birth. And since I rather doubt they start training before the cubs can even speak, I’d say charr cubs learn to speak before they’re six months old.

4. Unfortunately there’s next to nothing known about the Ash legion controlled lands other than they are not labeled on the GW2 map nor referenced anywhere other than their inferred existence due to each high legion being said to control territory of their own. Personally I believe the Ash legion’s lands to be to the east/northeast of Ascalon as the Blood legion’s lands are to the north of Ascalon. I also suppose it’s entirely possible that the Ash legion has forgone running it’s own territory altogether and instead operates cooperatively or secretively within the other legions territories.

Queens Gauntlet needs to be instanced

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: Riot Inducer.8964

Riot Inducer.8964

Making the gauntlet fights instanced would also solve the lag issues that have ruined it for me. I can’t deal with these fights that require precise timing to avoid one-shot attacks when ambient lag from the whole pavilion being more packed than Shing Jea Nine-Rings ever hoped to be, is throwing off tells and animations. How am I supposed to avoid an attack that kills me before its animation plays?

I do appreciate being able to watch other people’s fights while waiting but at the very least the gauntlet arenas should’ve been in a separate zone from the zerg arena.

So Being 1-Shot is meant to be a Challenge?

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: Riot Inducer.8964

Riot Inducer.8964

I think some of the problem is not being one shotted but being one shotted before animations trigger or you have any idea why you were down in the first place.

Ex. fighting Sierl(sp?) the one where you disable her shield. I will be fine, disabling her shield using the dark for the buff to not get hit, then BAM I’m insta down, her blast shot THEN animates THEN her shield goes back up.

If this is permanent I think I shall wait until it’s not total lag city in the area before trying it out. Or until they fix a few things to offset animations.

Honestly this is the biggest issue I’m having with the gauntlet as well. When I’m in the mood for such things I don’t mind learning tells for boss fights but when the timing of these fights gets thrown off even a bit it’s just stupid.

I actually got killed right out of the gate on my very first fight because the guy didn’t even render on my end until he was already winding up his one-shot attack on me. I got to take one swipe at him before he crushed me.

Between lag throwing off tells and generally making anything with one-shot attacks a complete crapshoot, the tiny bubble arena is not helping matters at all, the fidgeting it gives the camera makes it so you’re fighting with the camera controls as much as the boss.

Coming from warrior, ele and thief (especially), the necro will take a while to get used to. Necro is, bar none, the least mobile profession, however once you get used to it the necro can become one of the most durable characters in the game.

There’s not much else that plays like the necro does imo, for the most part we’re attrition fighters who might not kill as fast as warriors or the like, but we can outlast almost anyone. You mentioned you got frustrated with the ele’s squishiness, that will rarely be a problem for you as a necro.

While on the whole necro’s aren’t sitting atop the pvp meta, the varieties of builds we do have are all fairly viable, so as a whole it’s rather difficult to go wrong with a necro.

The only other thing I can think of off the top of my head is how helpful a lot of the necro community is, the But of Corpse crew have some great video tutorials for the finer points of the necro and are all very friendly and helpful in my experience. I haven’t found anything similar with other professions yet.

Hope I’ve been able to give some food for thought on your next character.

Improving elite/utility skills (and the new)

To bee honest, at this point any new guardian elites would be welcome. Pretty much every single one is lackluster in some way, and as rare as water combat is only having one elite useable in water combat is just dumb.

It seemed strange to me that some professions have access to 2 elites underwater while others only have 1. I can understand why some might not “feel right” underwater but at the same time it seems like an imbalance when you want all professions to have access to the same number of skills.

Mmm, but I can’t even come up with a logical reason why you can’t use the tomes underwater. It’s a magical book, pretty sure it’s still gonna function the same when it’s wet, not that something like that even matters though. Balance reasons? Lol, yes, because the tomes are soooooo overpowered, dat 3 second cast ~1k damage judgement doe.

Not saying the tome is op (don’t have a guardian, don’t even know its effectivness) but not all professions get 2 underwater elite skills.

Mesmer: Gets all 3. What?
Warrior/engineer/ranger: Gets 2. Meh
Thief/Necromancer/guardian/elementalist: Gets 1.

So in terms of build variety, underwater (although not popular) the mesmer is #1. Thats not to say they have the best elite skills, but they got more options. Something every profession, including the mesmer, needs. There arn’t enough elites to suit various builds, some of them don’t even get used because it just hinders some whether it be loss of dps or survivability.

I agree, the lack of elite skill variety is one of the worst things about underwater combat imo. It’s quite fun when you’re using a build that utilizes most of the same skills underwater but it becomes a chore when you can’t use half the skills your build is traited around while underwater.

Flesh Golem Underwater

Back in BWE #1 I sent a bug report about the Flesh Golem underwater. It was in a falling animation. BWE #2 Flesh Golem was able to be used underwater. It’s just the developers being lazy. There is no reason why other minions can be underwater and the Flesh Golem cannot.

I remember this as well, really annoyed me when at launch I discovered that the fleshie was unusable in water despite the fact that I had seen him working perfectly fine underwater before.

Honestly the selection of underwater elites as a whole is very disappointing and a rather major turn off for a lot of character builds. A lot of professions have only one usable underwater elite that effectively pigeonhole’s what you can do underwater.

So what is your totem spirit and why?

in Norn

My ranger’s spirit is snow leopard, it both suits her demeanor and preferred approach to challenges, strategy over brute force. Snow leopard is also deeply tied to the backstory I thought up for her, as a result she pays more reverence to the spirits than many norn.

My warrior’s spirit is bear, because great might makes for great legends.

Anet, why are Norn Utilities so HORRIBLE?

Riot Inducer.8964

I don’t know man, there’s a lot of merit for call owl and Snow Wurm is one of the better summons all things considered. The three 10 point transformations do leave something to be desired (mainly the lack of being able to move while attacking), but Snow leopard is very useful for quite a few situations on quite a few professions.

The only real disadvantage I see the norn having as far as racial abilities is the fact that four out of the six are elite skills and only the 30 point one is terribly useful at that. The two regular utilities however are on the higher end as far as racials go. I mean compare call wurm to the sylvari seed turret, same recharge but the wurm is far more durable, mobile and deals far greater damage.

Character Height?

Door heights are liable to be quite variable, for the reasons you observed, (accessible doors have to accommodate all races) and that inaccessible doors can likely be scaled to different sizes, lots of “prop” buildings can be found at varying scales.

Doing a quick search I found someone has used a wall as their static measurement to compare the min and max heights of the various races http://i.imgur.com/kIo9z.jpg

I also remember this image which shows the min max height of every race. Though I don’t know where they got the numbers from as to my knowledge no mechanical height measurement exists in game. http://www.guildwarsinsider.com/backend/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/GuildWars2Heights.png

Dark Path should teleport without a target

in Necromancer

Riot Inducer.8964

DS should be a steal style teleport. That is all.

but with a cast time, yes. that would be perfect

Agreed, the basic functionality is fine it simply needs to be more responsive with the actual teleport, it’s very unreliable as a gap closer due to the fact that it can be dodged that and its relatively short range means that most of the time you’d be better off just running up to the target manually anyways.

A new "Destiny's Edge"

Riot Inducer.8964

This pretty much matches my own thoughts. They could end up effectively joining Destiny’s Edge – that’s pretty close to what Rox is trying to do anyway – or be the start of a parallel group that attends to Living Story stuff.

If it’s the latter, it’d be interesting to see what professions get matched to the other three races when their respective crises come up.

Honestly I find Rox’s desire to join Rytlock’s warband to be very interesting. Mostly in that she seems to hold it in very high regard yet as players we know next to nothing about the warband outside of Rytlock himself. And that, at least at one point, there was enough strife of some sort within the warband to cause Rytlock to request a position as far away from them as he could manage.

You know, now that I think about it, as much as Braham and Rox are the heroes in their own right it seems their story is at least partly meant to give us more history on the members of Destiny’s Edge. I mean we really knew next to nothing of Eir and Rytlock’s lives before we meet them in Destiny’s Edge (novel).

I used my standard MM as well for it. Went fairly well, though the bosses were pretty hard on the minions as they were at the mercy of those AoEs that require dodging/jumping.

Do Charrs eat humans?

in Charr

Riot Inducer.8964

I think it is safe to assume that the Charr did eat humans in GW1. Allow me to post a few quotes from GW1:

“Did you bring these human slaves to carry your pack, Pyre? Or are they lunch?”

“I spied some Charr a few days ago dragging a sack into their cooking tent. A wriggling, talking sack. What do you make of that?”

“I’ve heard he prefers the tender bones of the young for a late afternoon snack.”

“[…] and the numerous chains of diminutive skulls that drape his enormous frame.”(Hierophant Burntsoul, and it looks like human skulls).

Some things are only hinted at or mentioned but never shown in GW1, just like you do not see any blood for example.

I am sure that the Charr of GW2 do not eat humans, and that them doing it in GW1 was retconned away for GW2.

I wouldn’t call it a retcon, most of those quotes are easily attributed to Flame Legion members specifically. And besides it’s not terribly unreasonable to believe that a practice like that died out in the 250 years between GW1 and 2, especially when you consider all the other social upheavals charr society went through.
