According to the patch note leaks on reddit (which we’ll see tomorrow regardless, so this will be proven true/false pretty quick) Stability will last 1s per stack in cc negating effectiveness, so Juggernaught suddenly becomes extremely strong.

However, that means less stability (like from the Hammer trait) also becomes stronger, and perhaps sufficient.

I read this a few times and its not really sticking. so if i give myself 5 stacks o mite do i have 5 seconds of all cc immunity or do i have 5 seconds of immunity for 1 cc and if i run into 4 other forms of cc before my 5 stcks/secs are up then im stripped?

i know i know theoretical maybe leaks. lets just assume its spot on

Just stack some super speed, it’s incredibly good in zergs.
Btw MDF is better since it gives more loot.

and are you using medical dispersion field?

Other classes do the passive AoE better IMO but then again I honestly dont run with it much myself so I havent tested it fully. Dispersion field otherwise feel really mediocre compared to bunker down, but I run my frontliner with like ~40% critchance.

Hammer and gyros work great but your AoE when on a pirateshipping commander suffer. You want to follow someone that’s really aggressive to the point of being reckless, that’s where the gyroscrapper shine.

I have probably one of the best commanders i have had the privilege to follow and he is very front line orientated so no worries on pirate ship meta here. even if it were to change i already know how to play that mode with scrapper/engi.

Couldn’t agree with you more on MDF being down rite mediocre . Bunker down is definitely the better choice. I asked about it because the previous poster mentioned going full nomads. was wondering if the higher level of healing power made a difference for the suck kitten trait.

on another note do you think you could survive the same if you dropped invention for say firearms ? main focus being juggernaut and replacing a gyro with flamethrower. IM thinking the rolling stability plus the cleave on flame throwers auto attack could be a welcome addition to the front line

as someone who has been running back line damage/support in large group settings… Goooooood dam is front line fun and challenging.

mix of soldiers/zerk/knights is giving my balanced stats. working on some other gear/food changes now with the guild that will only help my survive ability. Perfectly weighted and finale salvo gives me much needed stability and that “x factor” in the fights.
slick shoes/super speed/oh my! this has been the most fun I have had in gw2 in a looooong time.

free 2 play gw2 is absolutely the best trial mode of any mmorpg. actually its currently the best mmorpg free or paid. avoid the kittenness i experienced by just waiting out till HOT goes down to normal 30 expansion price and you will love this game for years to come.

im with furajir. gyros are quickly becoming my favorite toys.

I dont agree with this. are they similar? yeah of course they are. a heal is a heal damage is damage. but to say they are the same or can be easily replaced is not being fair at all.

Heal turret can not compete with medic gyro when hammer and finale salvo trait are in tow. big ol bomb hits like a truck and so does blast gyro. stationary vs moving damage here. shreder gyro. well ok i’ll give you this one.. Its just kitten and i can not figure it out. again only use i have for shreder is finale salvo short timer static bot.
they are completely different flavors and style and with the synergy between wep/spec/skills that engineer finally have they are down rite devastating when used rite.

Before HOT the healing turret was the undisputed king of the heal.s Medic gyro i feel is gaining more traction but definitely has a lot of ground to make up

pvp i love medic gyro. heals really well, totally works with Automated response, and adds another lightning field for more leaps and blasts potential to work with Rapid regen. the synergy is real folks especially if we are talking about using hammer with said heal ability. f1 with hammer 3 mite as well be a 2nd heal .

I would imagine that Healing turret still has a place in all aspects of the game. wide spread heal with a huge water field. and the f1 does count as another field but its like 1.1 seconds long and kind of hard to sync with other people at times. The built in turret combo is probably one of the biggest #6 heals in game..

Rr worked for me in wvw. Alone it seems silly low but in wvw I always have swiftness plus a regeneration flowing tack on backpack regen and mango pie it really starts to add up.being able to break away from a fight and regen like a beast has its uses.
the only tuff part for me was putting it all together while superspeed is active. But yes it Def worked very well. They are both very good traits I think . Rr I feel has more potential

You brought up Mango Pie. For that I want to talk about what I used to do when i was benchmarking whether something was worth it or not. Once upon a time I would convert Mango Pie into healing power coefficients and see the “match”; if the matching value was too high it wasn’t worth it.

For instance M. Pie does 85/s (iirc) so in order to get an additional 85 out of RR-swiftness you need 2,125 healing power. I… can’t say that’s a good thing. In other words all things equal if you took full healing power major gear and maxed it out in every way possible you would be barely getting more than just eating mango pie.

The purpose of this was not only to test efficiency but to test necessity. After all in order for it to work in your favor it has to A ) not be cumbersome and B ) be reasonably powerful. To prove the point to get 85 out of just basic regeneration you need 680 hp and that means you’ll get 312.5% out of the healing power if you take both of these in just the regeneration. This ignores the base of course.

So mango pie is more bang for your buck? Or healing power sucks? Im sorry man but your almost to smart to talk to . I know some people like this so i know it is better to be patient and learn then to criticize and objectify. So what the hell u talkin about? Seriously u lost me a little.

So we can pretty reliably get 800+hp/sec burst heal and more like 300hp/sec semi passive play and this is while still going balls to the wall damage.

MM will give you a good power boost if you are running high toughness but I feel toughness is really lacking use or missing all together in current game types (pve,pvp/wvw)

OP just make the best build in the world using MM and Juggy and fire arms. do it!

agreed. Hammer is so much better damage/cc/block option that we are strait pigeonholed . I started playing engi because of the vas possibilities in builds, range options. and mobility. Hammer has completely changed that. and pieropiero yes other builds can still be strong, hell even very strong. but i think we all know deep down inside that the new HOT abilities/spec/wep are the best possible option for just about every class.

people blame kitten balance in classes some blame new wvw maps . I think deep down inside the introduction of HOT content coupled with the free to play dynamic kind of made GW2 a pay to win game in a sense. Does that make sense? am i way off? ::shrug:: something about this whole transition has left me with a pretty awful taste in my mouth

Maybe I simply don’t play enough? Maybe my skewed perception of wvw because when I log in its with a guild full of people ready to play together and a leader that knows his kitten BUTTTTTT!!!!! I really see nothing wrong with the new border lands. The new guild abilities are strong and maybe border line OP at some points, but overall these are not easy abilities to achieve and work aside, the mats involved truly “take a village” to achieve at an impressive pace. . The biggest solo farmer couldn’t do it without the help of his fellow homies (guildies) .

It kinda feels like you lazy kittens don’t want to learn something new. New Map new elite abilities new guild abilities new dumb dumb dumb “meta” your just learning hard. cursing and screaming at every lesson saying how terrible this is. until you learn it. succeed in it and inventively love it.

So please. My new generation of secretly try hards do me a favor. Try a little fliipping harder. This is a great game. No pvp/wvw/rvr base or side based mmo can touch it.

think im crazy? think of the newly introduced rev. and how gross and op he was when he first hit the scene. and how much easier rev’s slowly became the more you played and LEARNED about it. admittedly still a grossly op char. but i think you understand what im trying to say. maybe?

Jesus Pride I never said gtfo. I cant help your population issues man. Im sorry If T1 servers dont change match ups to often but that seems to be its own problem especially with a population in such fluctuation (yup that rhymed) . Tonight my guild logged off to PLENTY of people to fight. the problem? they all roam EB or dare i say EOTM!!!! The big beautiful borderlands we roamed had 1 group all night that stuck around for 1 maybe 2 bouts.

HOT broke the meta. that stupid stupid meta. This very old EB is for groups and zergs while borderlands are for roamers and solos? That should honestly flip. ONly thing I see wrong with the boarder lands is that they are all big and beautiful and full of potential life but ultimately mean nothing (or at least little more then EB). Anet if your listening i know you read from the DAOC Necronomicon. Just get it over with and.

Add relics..

and.. give bigger bonuses for new lands. you built an awesome play ground. Let the skrit play and give them extra shinyes.

on a side note . Maybe im biased (I have remained loyal to my engi since the beginning) but i have always felt that engineers are not aloud to be anything near overpowered yet when other classes are found to have these godly builds and damage potentials its totally ok and by design.. while it has definitely been getting better since i first started playing (balance wise) Something just feels wrong sometimes =(.

do it. especially if you are still kinda new. its good to learn all aspects of the engi class. and condi lets you focus more on your defense during fights. nothing is forever and its only a matter of time before you have 4 different armor sets anyway. trust my dude if this thread was started 6months ago your guild would be asking you to change your entire proff. and remember your guild asking you to go condi engi is them simply asking you to play some of the best damage in game, and they trust you with that responsibility. dont hate this moment. revel in it

Best use I have found with shredder is with final salvo. It basically turns into a low cool down medium range static field. Im trying to find a way to work final salvo into a back/mid line wvw g/g build. I’ll keep ya posted.

I noticed that you can stomp downed enemies while using Elixir S. Is this intentional?

You must have taken some serious beating from engineers over this beta weekend. You made 2 separate threads demanding nerfs to skills in which you describe their functionality completely incorrectly,

What’s worse, all your post suggest you play a D/D ele, worse then that, you demand eles are under powered, need a buff, and demand a special “ele only” amulet.

In my opinion, you are not offering reasonable complaints, your offering bias demands that only favor you. That is no way to go about having a balance discussion.

This is the first time I’ve played engi and I lived in this beautiful reality of every invuln skill being as bad as mist form but apparently that’s not the case.

Bad as mist form? Engineers cannot gain might, regeneration, vigor, and a 66% movement speed buff, simply by going into their form, like elementalist can.

Geez, now that you make me look at it, they sure need to nerf mist form.

The Elephant in the Room... Healing Turret

Healing Turret. King of Healing Skills. Grandmaster of Multi-purpose.

It heals, it regens, it cleanses, it creates water fields (two!) and has a cooldown. It even explodes on demand. Too Strong?

It literally makes everything look bad and played by almost everybody, all the time. No skill should be so strong it has this much universal appeal – if you have to maximally trait out an alternative for it to be competitive, then we have a problem. And the irritating thing is the alternatives are good [except Med Kit]. AI issues aside the Medic Gyro does an good amount of healing but the automatic comparison is -> no condi clear, less water fields, less on demand healing -> not worth playing. Which is a shame!

In my opinion the most painless solution is that it loses a water field and/or the on-demand cleanse. Leave Elixir H for boons and (traited) condi clear, Med Kit for dedicated * targetted* group healing [needs work!] with Bandage Self for strong (and short CD) self healing and AED for the clutch healing for jokes. Medic Gyro for “strong self/weak others” and Healing Turret for “good self/good others” healing. Each one has a place to call their own but none universally dominant.

Thoughts?

It heals some it clenses some and drops a water field (a very short one, the shortest one in game in fact).. Why the hell would anyone suggest this? What is wrong with you? lol why? Ok so listen man you started with post talking about being this front line back line thing which leads me to believe you want to group.. maybe even organized group?
Those usually carry a ton of guardians and a couple of eles with are insanely good at condi clearing for the whole team that coupled with the new druid heal meta and lets just call it a day on the condi clears.
Yes hgh stacks a ton of might but whats the point if you can cap out fairly easy with juggy/m-m/blast finisher?

I guess the point we are trying to make is that the build needs work. Its close but no cigar. Engi has tons of mobility you simply have to spec for it. You chose condi clear and redundant mite stacking over the mobility you yearn for.. gg man

Well normally skilled engineers prefer eg over rocket boots because the kit is more versatile but i would love to hear which skill you would replace? FT offers constant stability and around 15+ stacks of might, a condi burst, an on-demand blast finisher, a reflect, a safe stomp and a fire field for partywide pre-might stacking. Elixir b offers more might, a party wide condi cleanse, stability which is needed for the party and the engineer himself if you want to go deep so you cant take this one out. elixir gun is almost mandatory as it has huge condi cleanse options, a stun break, healing, huge damage and a lot of might… fact is that this build would work perfectly if our leaps would actually cover some ground…

skilled egnis huh.. I don’t understand the point of hgh with mass momentum/juggernaut . that combo alone nets you 15 mite you say? with ft and other tools you can go up to 20+ no problem without hgh. Yeah man no one is doubting eg is versatile. but your not the run of the mill do everything engi any more. and trust… no one was picking you up because of your uber condi clears. Most dont even know you can do it.

your a scrapper now. upfront in your face and squishy as hell lol.. for christ sake if you HAVE to run alchemy as least use your skilled head and drop hgh for Iron blooded keep your dam purple pot drop eg and pick up rocket boots..

YOU lack mobility YOU cant keep up with your own zerg. If Engi was nothing else since this game started is mobile.. lack mobility……… thiiiisss guy

Not insanely impressed :/ … The hammer 3 chain was so clunky the gu y could only land it like 50% of the time. The gyros I did notice him use seemed hilariously cracked out . Like he would cast them and they would emedietly start twitching around him. Shiney red gyro that blows me up was so dam easy to evade. The projectile reflect whirl seems hard to time especially when I popped elixir U and just blasted awa y with rifle. He was just as squishy as before but with a sexy hammer.

Now some good news. kitten when he connected with that hammer my grandmother felt it. I had to keep away from that thing o r else I’d be toast. Vulnerability stacks crept up fast and with it came the pain. I feel with some more practice a lot less gyros and better trait allocation this scrapper could have been a force .

Nothing wrong with healer. Nothing wrong with making content harder to a point where you need people to focus on this aspect of the game. No one will be “only healer” everyone contributes damage and other utilities. PVE is WAAAAY to easy at the moment. Its time to upgrade. Anet is making the rite move.and this will open up for some interesting game play in wvw aswell. all in all you should all be excited.
