The days of great large skill groups is definitely over if the current TW is amazing. I suppose a group can only get as good as their competition allows but they would get destroyed by the old school GvG groups. Remember the days of Mag GvG or guilds like Agg? Oh the Golden era what a wonder it was.

What was great about the good ole days was that no matter what server you were on, you had your premier guild or two that could hang with the best. This made wvw diverse and a more fun environment. Now all these “zerg busting” wannabes choose to all pile on one server then complain about no fights. Sounds like they need their crutch fellow guilds these days instead of holding their own.

Been pretty rough on DH/ebay. We had 7 people on tag this evening with SBI running 20+ groups all over the place with roamers. Matchup is dead. Not sure what the hell anet is doing but positive they have zero plan for wvw.

It’s pretty simple, a lot of players just need to keep the wallet closed and send a message. Just trade gold for gems at this point and do not support them or this game mode. It is a waste of real world cash and you shouldn’t be spending it on wvw or gw2 in general.

It’s very easy to see they really don’t have a well detailed plan or future for this game mode. I’m not sure why the poor miserable souls keep posting amazing ideas on the forums when the devs are most likely at the mercy of very poor management right now. Look at the state of the game, all across the board game modes are suffering with highly similar complaints. It is clearly a company issue that needs address internally with broken promises of HoT for sugar coating. Very sloppy execution.

I honestly don’t hold the devs at fault, I’m sure they’d love to communicate more and have ideas or read the forums and think “that’s kinda cool” but at the end of the day they have bosses. Who knows what these yahoos are really doing.

I disagree… YB is the only server I’ve encountered that will send an entire 50 man zerg after 1 person.

Every server I have fought has diverted a zerg to chase the more annoying. Even BG… you just have to pick at them long enough.

Lower tier servers tend to lack discipline so it is not uncommon for a herd to break off from the tag to try and run down zerg surfers.

Been in every tier and just about every server, everyone chases down 1 roamer. All are guilty.

What anet should have taken away from tournaments was a learning experience. Just abandoning is a failure on their part. They probably looked at it as an issue or problematic. Instead they should have used it as a learning experience and maybe made the tourney shorter and not put so many achievement hunting on it.

Personally I’m taking the current worldlink duration as though it’s a tournament. I mean why not? It’s a fixed and relatively short period of time. Just rack up as many wins in the 8 week season as you can. Ta-da it’s a tournament.

I would go in the completely different direction if I could. While I understand that a bigger world might make it necessary to make it feels like a real war this is not what WvW is.

WvW is not a war but a game. And, in a game player want to enjoy themselves. A big map include a lot of running until the fun can start. Would you want to run for 20 minutes every time you die? That’s not what I call fun.

Let players get into the action instantly!

Bigger question, where are these vast amounts of players to fill that big world he speaks of at? I imagine the dominant server would just roll over the smaller ones all week even worse because of the sheer amount of scouts the larger server has. In addition, some commanders identify they are fighting a losing battle on a map, hence why they get smart and say “moving to X server bl, can’t win this fight”. That’s not only good for the pugs and morale but strategy wise.

We need all four bls.

There’s a lot of dominate servers right now who steam roll maps late at night.

I can’t speak for YB but they are known for defending and being pretty successful. Not sure what the current state of YB is right now.

Don’t worry, there won’t be any tournaments anytime soon because tournaments apparently drive people away from WvW.

They were still in t1 at the time of the last link, they were opened for transfers and players chose to leave than transfer there. Relinks don’t happen for 2 months, so gonna have to ride it out a couple more weeks.

As for server anet doesn’t like.. darkhaven has the claim on that, being dead last in rankings for 3 months now.

This patch totally killed WvW. I went to play on reset but no one was there on a T1 server. I’m being serious guys.

Play for an hour this evening (PRIME TIME) , a few SBI guys attacking our bay maybe 10 with like 6 DH/ebay on home BL. Sad state and dying quicker than ever.

I don’t think they know what to do. Their unprofessional shuffling of papers and awkward you tube guild chat setting speaks volumes.

They have zero clue what they are doing. Watch them, read the body language, very easy to note. There is no plan or progress, HoT was it and the train derailed.

I think anet in general is losing credibility. They seem to get extremely offended and sensitive when someone types up an honest review or reddit review and physically remove it. One thing is constant, the devs are comprised of very sensitive individuals who cannot take constructive criticism well. That spells disaster for any work program. They honestly have to put on the armor and start taking the blows, because it’s game time and lots of people are fed up with them.

Cranking out another expansion or even the whisper of one is very comical given the broken promises of HoT and hype train that never arrived at 9 3/4 with the latest.

I got on warrior, slapped on a metabuild and hit three buttons and instadowned people left and right. I don’t even know what I’m doing cause I main necro.

I can’t imagine what would happen if I actually was good at the game and mained warrior.

Unfortunely it’s too late for T4 for that. Maybe 3 weeks ago we would still have people, but now everyone is pretty much gone to other servers or is farming Bloodstone Fen to even bother doing WvW.

Yeah getting really empty. Feels like most of the time we’re running worse than GoM numbers pre-link. I really am about done myself. Our new matchup buddy doesn’t like to fight or roam and I log on much more than the one guild group that farms them. They mostly just cap things every 10 mins in a huge circle. It’s the most boring thing I’ve ever seen. It’s a literal eotm worthy ktrain without as many uplevels.

I don’t trust the other tiers to be much better at this point though. Not sure where to go or whether it’s just hopeless.

Same, I transfer around a lot because I just save my mats and sell gold to gems. Every single tier is the same man, there’s no difference. People want to believe their tier is the fight tier and all that trash, but in reality, all the same vanilla ice cream flavor. WvW has certainly lost it’s identity. Game mode is just done with little diveristy……..

MEH, can’t beat em join em. I am seriously considering just bandwagoning to the flavor of the month server at this point. Sure it will cost me gems, but I can be part of the blob instead of the bloody smear under it. Besides the bags I get may even pay for my transfers if they are going with the 2 month approach.

Edit to add: at least if I do transfer I can do my dailies again without getting run over by a 70 man zerg while trying to cap a camp.

You know this is anets business plan right? They like the server stacking or else they’d truly do something about it. They want to get as much profitability from wvw as they can before the great merge.

If they play their cards right, they can milk this just long enough to keep dwindling servers and pairing to the point the loyalist and wvw lovers are forced into the 3 faction system. Then all will have regretted transferring to that stacked server and cry on the forums “we want our gem transfer fees refunded” and anet will do their silent treatment moving forward. The players will also get to a point where they will accept it though because wvw will be in such an awful state, there will be no choice but to accept this system.

There really isn’t any plan to improve wvw that is evident, just keep throwing little pieces of table scraps once in awhile out there, throw a red post here and there and you give hope to some wvw players. Pretty simple business plan really, reuse and recycle a map, copy and paste Cookie cut it baby.

Won’t happen. There’s too many servers with deep pockets buying up guilds and lots of those guilds are selling out. I’m a bit disappointed…….you so called zerg busting guilds, what a joke lol

I think you need to do some serious revisions to your glicko system if we are getting re-linked every 2 months. It’s taken us 3-4 weeks to get a match up that wasn’t a complete blow out for Whiteside Ridge which was last weeks. This week we’re against GH and Dzagonur, 2 servers we cannot hope to compete against in coverage so we will have a complete blow out match up where people don’t even bother playing as outnumbered will never leave our bar.

I find it interesting anet rewards CD for have multiple servers on their team and blobbing up. Now you can see YB and SOS pulling way already. Clearly, the system isn’t working at all.

All I’ve seen from you BG guys in the forums lately is “Bg isn’t playing right now, we on break mode”. Don’t question the ppt.

I have to say the worst, as in nastiest, group I came across the past few weeks was 2 thief’s and a warrior. One thief was condi ghost, one was straight up glass, and the warrior was just a wrecking machine who you could down but the thief’s would stealth and rez what seemed like instantly. As much as a pain in the kitten they were, it was one of the most difficult encounters I’ve seen in small group play.

You could always be a druid wimp and longbow it up. Seems like those guys are becoming more common.

It’s been more of a reactionary mentality with them. Just like any work place, a safety hazard comes up and managers scramble to suddenly provide training and certifications when employees from years ago brought it up.

Same as the mmo world, they conveniently forget that wvw players were bringing up core issues years ago with good input and ideas. When it becomes a major issue threatening PR as in the wooden potatoes vid that came up a few months ago calling anet out on wvw topics or player decline is being reported, they go into reactionary mode. A common trait of poor management and unorganized work plans.

Can’t continue to operate like that for long.

You can get easy rings and amulet from playing solely WvW. Just because you’re not interested doesn’t mean others may not be… Showing these people that they can just spend some minor time in PvE and get a upgrade is a good thing.
