I agree only with the 3rd: one server divided into districts like in GW1 which numbers goes up or down depending on the numbers of players online in that given map at that specific time.

@Barlisk “I would quit if they made it one giant server with WvWvW determined by “factions” or “shards” or anything”
It shouldnt be a problem for you because now people can change servers daily. If adding the same option to the WvW home selecting screen as in suggestion mentioned above in the OP, I think it is the same feature only with a different selecting time. And it pretty arrogant to say that you know the people on your server. It have been scientifically proved that one person can remember an average of 110 names

Once the bugs are fixed, all events, challenges , DEs and dungeons work as planned, I hope they will put more thought in the story and character development. They really need to look into how great RPG single player games are and try to do that in GW2 but NOT EVER implement a single player mode in it. The way the story is done now, it never has the need of cooperating with other players. Its personal and they stick to the word which is pretty shame. They should make the difference between how we develop our character which is the personal part and what we need to do for that.
If more people need to do a story mission (because its a mandatory mission) together it will raise up the sociability of the community but in that mission if one guy kills more than others will get his ferocity up, and if another one only puts down the fires, he will get more charming points. In the end, the same mission will affect differently the personality of each character but they all had the same goal. Also, the way they kill the foes can also affect the personality. If a warrior just hits the foes with the sword he will get more dignity points, but if another warrior kills a foe by burning it with a bow attack followed by an exploding arrow he will get more ferocity points

Replaying Personal Stories

Ronah.2869

Playing the same story probably not, but as I suggested in another post, I’d rather have an option at the end of the game to reselect my biography and start to do a different storyline without having to re-level my character. It wont hurt the gameplay as log as they downgrade your character but you will have the good armors , weapons and skill unlocked. In this way the new story will go faster and it will give you a bit more replayability endgame with your favorite character. This option will become available everytime you finish the entire sotoryline and once you selected the new biography it won’t be redone untill the storyline is finished
The lore behind this “change of biography” can be: you character got in am amnesia after the end of the previous story and when asked what he remembers it gives you the new storyline.

(as we know, reviving someone grants xp. even at 5xp per revive that’s more than enough to level you passed level 1). So, there’s going to be accusations from new players and players who have yet to get that title.

Those people come from other MMOs than GW1. Any GW1 player won’t do this because this is the only way he can show he is a veteran in the game and not a noob level one

FF11 had an exceptional endgame when you hit max level there were areas where you could only go after you completed an long quest line. There were nototorious monsters (bosses) that dropped exceptional armor which were worth acquiring. There were also bosses in the world that it took many people grouped together with a strategy to defeat.

Just an idea related to what you said. What if they have made max lvl 30 and after that you could unlock all other zones which they will be like Orr ? People would get to lvl 30 fast (1 day) and then start to fight their way through hard foes till the end of the zones and get cooler armors and weapons.
Maybe they thought this for the next expansion where they can add only lvl 80 zones. We never know, but still not telling the players what are their intentions for the future are, risks of loosing the players.

No common goals for players

in Suggestions

Ronah.2869

The story in GW1 had common goals for all players. They NEEDED to do the same missions. If they did them with friends, their friends were seen in the cut scenes.
In GW2, the story totally separates players. There are no specific places where players can gather and do the same mission because they NEED to do it.
Of course the personal missions are similar to the missions in GW1, but the lack of specific outposts to gather in begins to hit very hard in the community unity.
Add common goals for players, other than hearts and dynamic events or dungeons. Form all these 3 I mentioned, only the dungeons have a specific spot people can gather, the rest are not so visible due to the non grouping requirement

I agree with the OP. The game gets boring fast if you are a player that wants to play more games. Some years ago, the MMO market was not so popular. With the new games coming almost every month, people want to try more of them. What keeps players staying years in a game? The content but also the sociability of the respective community. GW1 didn’t resist so much on the market because of its great content, but because of the community. When you log now in GW1 as a new player and if you have a bit of courage to ask help, there is 90% chances that there will be people willing to help you. Many would say this is because they are bored, I rather say its because the community is more united and the game mechanic of instancing makes people play together. Of course there are the heroes now but still there are people who want help or want to offer help to others.
The personal story in GW2 is ok, but the lack of common goals for all players, the community isn’t so united. Maybe some people want to help you with the story, others don’t, but there are no common goals but this could be the subject of another thread

So I don’t think you understand what I am talking about. So the 100 percent MAP completion is when you go to each zone and get all the hearts and all the vistas and all the little points of interests and skill points.

I understand you very good and I agree with your point. My comment was only an ironic answer to all the comments in this forum not necessarily directed to your one.
I am only lvl 29 and I played from the head-start and I bet would be frustrated too if I was in your place but every time I say that the game “wasn’t ready” to release it, people argue that it was. Then, when I ask why do they complain so much if they believe the game was ready, they call me a troll. In conclusion, I don’t have anything against you or your point of view which by the way I think its legitimate as many other points in this forum, but I really think if Anet would have let the open beta from April and not do just those beta weekend events, than they would have got more information like they do now. They just let people play for 48h once in month and they thought the feedback was awesome.
I personally think the game is now in the final part of a beta which will end possibly with the first expansion.

People are complaining so much about everything in the game that I only have one suggestion: Cash shop. A-net, make everything buyable in cashshop with real money not gems. Give the download for the game free and add in cash shop this:
SPVP pack access , WvW Access, Dungeon X-Y Access, Event Access, Zone Access, Skill Access, Weapons Access, Legendary Weapons , Dungeon armors.
So people who don’t want to play anything in the game and still feel they have all they wanted form it, let them buy it. They don’t want to do the story because its boring, They don’t want to do WvW because its required for Map completion. They dont want to do all the time events, they don’t want to farm for weapons or they want all weapons, all armors, all professions on one character. Lets them pay if they want to skipp all the content and see the end credits. A good idea could be to add all title and achievements in cash shop too so people wont feel forced they achieve one title they don’t want while grinding for others. Some people want to turn off exp form different things, others want to get more exp, so why not sell them the levels in cashhop. etc.

You don’t want to be"forced" to do this and that in the game? There is one simple solution: a skip button from start to finish so you get form lvl1 to lvl 80 with all PVE PVP WvW achievements for only 300 USD (power levelers are asking 200 USD but they don’t offer achievements too, so a 300 USD is a fair price)

In-Game Surveys, or How Not to Ruin the Game

in Suggestions

Posted by: Ronah.2869

Ronah.2869

If only 5% of the players are unhappy about something, they might still make up 50% of the forum population on that issue.
We all know that listening to the vocal minority will ruin a game, because what they’ll never be happy.

So, this means that the 95% of non-complainers are surely fully enjoying the game?
Its like you are saying that those who don’t go to vote on political elections are totally satisfied with the system. You guys are totally wrong.
Most people are not used to post on forums, others don’t even know that forums exist, and others are just getting used to what the game offers.
If only 5% of people are posting on forums, the same possibility is that 20% more are reading the forums but don’t post anything on it.
Why don’t you consider the people posting on forum, people who actually see what is bad and what is not in the game. Why those not complaining are just better? They are just educated to follow the rules and eat whatever they are offered.
“Those who don’t like the game have quit” so are they better compared to those who are taking up some of their time to post suggestions on forums?
No matter how good or crappy the suggestions are, A-net IS GETTING IDEAS for FREE.
Instead of hiring 500 more employes to give them ideas, they GET THEM FREE.
Do you think these employees, if hired, will only give very good ideas? i think not.
So, don’t treat the forum posters as complainers, because even some of them are just “chatting” others are offering opinions that A-Net would have to PAY for.
If 500 people want Mounts in the game and the other 2 million are just indifferent, why not make those 500 players happy. Why would it matter for the 2 million as long as they don’t express any opinion about it? This was just an example

How to make GW2 more team-oriented without changing the solo experience

in Suggestions

Posted by: Ronah.2869

Ronah.2869

Well, I have said this from the first Beta Weekend Event. The idea of non grouping is great but the sociability of players hurt the game. A-net designed the game with social people in mind, but it seems the game attracted most of the so called “antisocial or single player gamers”
Second thing. With the evolution of VoIP programs, most people if not all who are actually playing with friends (guildies, school/work mates, relatives, etc) are not paying attention for the chat and rarely even read it. So i guess that chat is very outdated and sooner or later only loners will try to find eachother in there.
(Note: a loner is not an antisocial but a player who has no gaming friends because of different real life reasons which he/she can’t change)
Even the dungeon grouping is a chaotic LFG system where in a few months it will be hard to find 5 people to join a group without special requirements
Ok, so we say the game is not promoting sociability the way it is now, but what can we do to change that? The answer are the missions as in GW1.
As the personal story goes now, when you want someone to help you with your story, they don’t need to do it because either they are too low level, either they dont want to get in a film in the middle of it.
The idea of personal story in a MMO is also great, but somehow the game needs cooperative missions – a lot of them – other than dungeons in which players have the same goal.
I would add “Order Missions” which will be the same for all who join a specific order and which will reward players with special order tokens they can use for the order armors /weapons
These will be instanced groped quests (misisons) that will happen in precise location marked on the map. They should be daily or weekly so there wont be an end to those quests and people can play them anytime they want. Anyway, you got the idea.

Seeing the amount of things people want to turn on/off like smooth camera or aura around characters, etc it is mandatory that everything that affects the game and can be put in the “on/off” feature, should be done
People will love to see a huge list of options than argue with each-other which feature is better:the new one or the old one.

Those guys who bought karma weapons in the beginning were banned for a game bug. Now the dungeon spreed clearings aren’t banned for a similar game bug, You fixed the exploits and close them as we see from various game updates notes. No bans announced
The suggestion is:
A-net, just be fair in your decisions. An exploit is an exploit and should be treated the same way or you are scared that if you do the same thing now, you will loose 60% of the player base?
I don’t suggest you to ban the speed clearers, but instead raise up any permanent bans for the karma weapon exploits because I guess the temporary bans are already expired

in Suggestions

Well, legendary weapons only show who had more time and who didn’t. I don’t see them as achievements, because as long as you need people to help you with, its not your effort rewarded, but your ability to take advantage of the situations. The same thing goes for all dungeon rewards: you have dedicated “friends” you get it, you are a loner, you never get it. Simple as that.

in Suggestions

Posted by: Ronah.2869

Ronah.2869

Good point. In GW1 you could do the primary quests and mission and go through the story from one end to another – especially if you had heroes with good skills,
Now you need to stop the story and grind quests until you can beat the other part of it.
Besides, as they said in another thread, the story isn’t consistent. Every 10 levels you go to a different episode that has none or very little connection with the previous.
Ok, you saved Quinn, where is he now? why isn’t he coming with you to join the Order? How about Riot Alice? She is your sort of friend now. Why she suddenly disappeared form your story?

I like your add-ons to the original idea.
It would be interesting if by joining an Order you will get that “Daily board of Duties” to do for your order. It can also be a start of introducing “regular type of questing” but in a dynamic world. These “duties” can be:
-Kill a random Champion boss: the aria where it can be found will be marked on the map
-Collect different items: they can ask items from drops or gathering. The foes/resources which give them will be marked on the map
-Help 3 random NPCs in heart events: those hearts will change their icon on your map till they are done.
etc.

All these quests will not differ from what it is already in the world and will not require new events to be added. Once you join an order, in your hero panel can appear a new tab with the order icon and those daily quests can appear in there automatically or if you talk to a certain NPC.
Doing this Order quests, will reward players with order points which will be more likely to be traded for order armor and weapons
Also within the Order there can be different ranks to achieve
As it is now in the game, when you select a player, you see its name, guild, guild tag, title, profession icon. If the Order ranks are added they can add a symbol for the Order and a number for the rank

I was wondering why they took it off. A titlke screen is very appreciated. I must say tho, the old one with the red logo on it wasn;t so appealing but a random anymation from all 5 race towns, or just Lion’s Arch, could do much better.
They could add those news in there too like in GW1.

Also, what is with this new character select screen? Just characters in from of a wall. GW1 has one of the best character screens ever if not the best one. It was taking you in a moving world from the start.

Let’s say I agree with the character creation mechanic, although GW1 beats everything in originality. You were seeing your character in the world not on on some slider show.

The “Log on screen” and “The character selection screen” were one of the deifying features of GW. They could’ve kept it the same.

Harvesting tools

Ronah.2869

I like the idea alot. But I think alot of thought would have to go into how it could be made useful for everyone.

I will explain better:
You are a new character in a starter zone. At lvl 10 you unlock the harvest tool spot.
In that zone there are merchants selling you the tool. It will cost the appropriate amount for the zone. lets say 25 copper What tool will have 50 durability and the materials in that zone only take 1 and 2 durability. So you will get from 25 -50 harvests from that tool
Lets say you are a “rusher” and you go in a higher level zone. In there the harvesting items take 4 durability. Well, you can use your 50 durability tool in there too untill it is consumed. You are not “forced” to buy a new one if you already have in your inventory more of them.
Once you have finished the durability on all, then you can choose to buy a too from the current zone which will have a higher durability like 150, or you can just buy a 50 durability for the starter zone.
So, the idea is that it will not confuse the players if a copper pick is usable or not to mine gold ore.

Keep waypoints and their costs. In this way people who don’t have money problems will not be forced to use the mounts. For those who consider the waypoint costs are too high or they just want to save the money, then they can have the mounts as an option.
In this way, we don’t force players to use mounts and we dont force players to spend all their income on waypoint travel costs.
Really your idea with mounts is the best so far but don’t eliminate the waypoint travel. There are a lot of people enjoying it and if they afford it, let them do it.
Its possible that some time they will start using the mounts if they sell more cooler skins in cash-shop

From what I saw now, this makes the story pretty linear and looses from the element of surprise.
I suggest to add the 4th option of choice: “I go my own path”
If players would choose this one they will get random missions for all 3 Orders not a single sure path
If its absolutely necessarily that the characters should join an Order, than this can be done at the end of the game when the 3 orders will congratulate the character and offer him as a reward the opportunity to choose an Order Armor
