Events in major Cities

As the game is now, the cities have no events going on. I mean, even if they add some mini-games as bar brawl or shooting gallery, etc, there is a need of big events too.

Why not have a riot in the city or some thieves in the night? Why the guards wont be alerted? The game has a lot of calm now but why not having a littel chaos from here-and-there?
These events will make cities more interactive and the fights will be welcomed in the there as a part of the world not only people showing off their skills.

They probably will open one or few new zones.

A cutscene will just fill up the originality of adding a new zone to the map. It will be their way to unlock new zones not like other MMOs in which just say you will have a new zone open in the next patch.

So, don’t worry to much, if there is an event it will take place for a few days, if there is just a cutscene then its not so important

This is supposed to be a great social game, instead ArenaNet have made a single player game.

Personally I would like to go and help people, join parties, go to town, go around the dungeons see what going on, I have never felt so lonely ever in an online multiplayer game (MMO).

You speak the truth. If some players don’t have who to play with the game feels a single player not a MMO.
I am lvl 80, I am not necessarily in farming gold, I would rather jump from WP to waypoint to see the events and find random people to play with them. Maybe there are new events added or maybe there are different parts of the same ones thet I haven’t seen before.
Going from point to point will spend all the money little by little and soon I will be “forced” to play something in order to get some money back.

This game simply does not allow you to "enjoy the site seeing "

… if it were a vital factor in the in-game economy, then somehow I think it would have been implemented in GW1 as well. But it wasn’t, and much as others have mentioned, you could roam far and wide in GW1 with nary a thought about expense. Not sure what the reason or motivation was for that to be changed in GW2 …

The reason are the stupid gems in the cash shop which can be bought with in-game gold. Remove this option and let the cash shop be payed only in cash, and all costs can go away. (see my previous message)

I posted something on a similar thread: the transition between zones shouln’t be done with a lifeless concept art picture loading screen but through a mini-zone. In reality the mini-zone will load faster then the full zone and while the player will travel through that mini-zone, the big zone will load.

The mini-zones can be designed differently to fit the context: bridges, catacombs, seas, rivers.
Also, the mni-zones can have mini-games in them like: simple jumping puzzles, braking a blockade (door, gate, wall, branches, trees) walking on narrow ledges

I agree with the OP.

GW1 didn’t require map travel to be a money sink, so I don’t see why it needs to be so here. I do understand the need for money sinks in the game; I just don’t see why map travel should be one of them. It most definitely discourages me from leaving the area I’m currently in.

The only reason they have these money sinks is to keep players poor.
Why?
Because the things in the cash-shop can be bought with the in-game gold.

If they make the cash-shop items only buy-able with real cash not some stupid gems, then there won’t be a need for the money sink. No one will care if the players will have 1g or1000 g in their bank as long as they won’t have what to buy with them.
These gold is not “prodeced”, it is just some numbers in a program so the illusion of an economy is only in the A-Net’s game designers heads.

Remove the gems form cash shop and there wont be any need for repairs, WP costs, TP fees, etc.

I agree. I have got now to Orr myself after 2 months and it feels there is a constant fight and pretty non-soloable any place. Getting armor broken and repairs are very high cost.
And the way point costs are stupid too. When I go to starter zone, I don’t feel like going back because the costs are too high and there are so many chances to get armor damaged.

If you travel somewhere to walk around and look at the trees, then the 4s amounts to your vacation travel expenses.

WTF? travel expenses? So if we don’t “work” we can’t travel? I thought playing a game should be “fun and enjoyment” not “work and payment”

Ok, we have now:

- Human (MMOs usual race)
- Charr – a cat/feline race
- Norn – a giant race
- Asura – an ET type of race
- Sylvari – a plant race

what types of races can they add?
- […] – a bird race (Sensali?)
- […] – a bear race (Kodan?)
- […] – a winged race (Largos?)
- […] – a rodent race (Skritt?)
- […] – a centaur race
- […] – a robot race

Now lets analyze what type they can add according to the zones in the map:
- Human – people from the plains
- Charr – people from the woods
- Norn – people from the mountains
- Asura – people from “underground”
- Silvary – people from the jungle

What other zones we have?
- desert
- water
- air (sky)

Guild Advertisement Window

Guild Advertisement is a new tab in the Guild Window in which players can find a list of all the guilds in the game.

The list should contain:

- Guild Name
- Guild Tag
- Guild Emblem
- Guild Recruitment Advertisement (similar to the compact/expand bags or bank tabs)
- Recruitment open/ closed (when “open”, there should be an apply button available)
- Number of members
- Permanent Upgrades : A I (architecture lvl 1), P III (politics lvl 3), E IV (economy lvl 4), W II (art of war lvl 2)

The window should also have a “search” feature and some filters too.

Applying to the guild will send a guild message to the guild leaders in which they can see details about the character who wants to join: name, class, server
Also, there can be added a “message box” for players to post an Apply letter sort to speak

That being said, are you seriously complaining about not being able to find FOUR other people for a dungeon.

The problem is finding people who don’t kick you out from the party before the end boss, people who leave you alone there because you are a noob or people kicking you out of the party after seeing you are not max level.
So, soloing the dungeons won’t create more anti-socials, it will just give a fair chance to everyone to complete a dungeon at least in story mode.

I would add random treasure chests in the world which will require a puzzle solving to open. They can add achievements and level progression to this idea similar to crafting levels. The principle of the chests will be like the resource nodes where everyone can take it.

Puzzles will start a mini game on the player screen. These puzzles can involve math, fast clicking, moving/turning objects.

Puzzle difficulty will be random and NOT zone related
The puzzles will give rewards randomly and NOT based on difficulty.

No more "loading screens"

in Suggestions

Posted by: Ronah.2869

Ronah.2869

we get now in the game a lot of loading screens: entering Cities, Teleporting, entering instances. All these break immersion. Seeing a picture all the time becomes boring and non-innovative. I know there can be SDDs to shorten the loading times, but this is hardware solution not a game design.

I suggest to create a mini zone which will load fast and while the character is crossing this zone, the next big zone will load. This will apply for when you enter a zone by foot

When teleporting to a zone, an animation of “taking off” and “landing” would do just fine and will have enough time to load.

Picture loading screens should stay only when entering an instanced zone. It will “tell” the players that they are entering a private zone because all other transitions will not have this

I remember one of the firsts GTA games had a lot of loading screen, but later they added sort of “bridges” to connect the zones and those replaced the loading screen giving the player a continuous feel of the world. Of course, while the player was crossing that bridge, the next zone was loading slowly but the effect was not noticed.

Bosses, Champions and Veterans

Ronah.2869

I would like to see and improvement in the animation of the bosses , champions and veterans in the game. As the game feels now it more an endurance fight than a tactical fight.

I would like to see them more dynamic. Moving and turning around in fast moves, jumping, dashing, charging. Depending on the foe type: flying, getting underground, teleporting, grabbing characters and throwing them away or smashing them to the ground.

Any of these fights should be memorable for one or more players. These foes should all have a “fear factor” on you so when you finish it, you would say: “I did it, phew, that was hard” rather then “Finally, I did it, God, that was a long one”

Also, some skills like “stun” or “blind” should NOT work too good on these foes so they will not be abused by players, just keeping the enemy in one place defenseless.

The rule should be these foes are out in a open area and the exception should be the enclosed rooms and never vice-versa

“Fun” is the effect of the “enjoyment” of an “activity” not its goal.
When you enjoy an activity, you are forgetting all the tangible goals of that activity and only in this way the fun comes in.
As long as fun is considered the goal, there won’t be any enjoyment of any activity.

So, play the game and enjoy it and not focus on what rewards you get after hours of play, but on contrary think of it as a way of spending time. If you don’t enjoy it, then go and do whatever activity you enjoy without thinking of a reward because that will bring up the fun for you.

Why? Please articulate why, other than “I want to be part of the super special max level club,” it adds anything to the game to restrict the explorables to max level.

And you can already choose not to run with people below 80 if you dont like the scaling disparities so that’s not a real answer.

I don’t do dungeons. I don’t enjoy them. They are the ultimate “carrot on the stick” in every MMO. People stop playing anything else when they have unlocked the dungeons
I am sure if they put a dungeon at lvl 1 in the tutorial, most of people will still be in tutorial running that dungeon.

Not trying all professions ends up in this situation. I always saw necros land traps but never understood what they actually do. Than I started a necro with a staff and I unlocked those skills. I have read what they do and used them and, man, it really felt different. Than I went back to the other character and I was looking for a necro with a staff to see those markers. I found one and i followed him till I could see him using those skills. I went through them and the effects were now “visible” to me. I know what I had to expect and it happened.

My advice is to try to play all professions for a bit till you unlock a few skills and then focus on your main. It will feel a lot different than it feels now. Learn what others are doing and use it to your and their advantage. If you see players not knowing how to use those skills, tell them, so they will learn too and see the game differently

But I won’t get the Dungeon Master or Sigil of the Mason either because I don’t do / enjoy these. I might get the Riddle Master tho.

empower solo players for events

Ronah.2869

A-net should have kept the districts for each zone like the districts in GW1

A new player who will start the game by pressing “play” in the launcher will be taken to character creation screen. NO server choosing. A-Net will automatically put him in an available district for the starter zone like they did with the overflow maps.
The more players in that zone, the more districts will come up.

When the player chooses to go to PvP, the worlds window will pop up and ask him to choose one world to represent, informing him that he will be bound for PvP purposes to that specific world. Switching the world will be possible every 24h , etc.

In this way, one zone can have few players on it so it will have 1 district, other zone will have more players in it and there will be more districts. If people get into different districts they can switch them like this did in GW1. If one district is full then they can meet in the next one (similar to Kamadan situation in GW1)
This would have been very simple because they already have overflow maps, not one but many, and you can join your team mate in another overflow.

I really don’t understand why they separated the PvE players only because of the PvP server pride in WvW

Its someone’s idea to keep the majority of players, who are not Wall Street (aka TP) brokers, broke for the sake of a healthy virtual economy.
It seems that atm, no matter how many threads are done on this matter, nothing is done about it. Well, at least we dont make a living out of GW2 economy, otherwise there would be massive street riots in Tyria

I will answer you.

Localization for different languages involves more work in the programming field than only the translation. Translation is fast and easy, sort to speak, but adding coded in the program that will recognize and associate them with the respective language is different. To put it simple, localization makes the developers create almost an entirely new game.

So I understand when they say its cheaper to keep it like this because its already coded

What I don’t understand is why not update the English client for those who use it and update it at a later date for those who prefer other languages.
Basically, you are prioritizing localization more than the updates. This is wrong.

Localization. This is such a stupid thing to delay projects. I understand its done because of financial reasons to sell more games, but still, as long as you can’t localize it for every language on the Google translator at least, than why bother only with a selected few?
Why are those players more privileged then others and because of them, the rest of people are forced to wait longer for improvements and you guys have more unnecessary work to do? I am not an english native speaker and no games are in my language. We are forced to learn it in my country if we want to play. Why german, french, spanish are the privileged ones? If they dont want to lean it, its their problem. I bet it is thought in their schools too.
If its for marketing reasons, why don’t you localize it in simplified chinese? I bet in one week you will have so much sales in eastern Asia like all the sales you have had until now.

If you guys are so sensitive about this Centaur name, i will invent a new name for you, as long as it seems none of you will.

The new centaur like creatures are named Kall and they are former dragon minions which have escaped its influence when the dragon was put to sleep long ago. They are totally disoriented in the world because they were taken out of the underground when the dragon awaken and they don’t have a master anymore. They look like a centaur horse and they are in need of a master to guide them. They have the ability and the will to lean new skills and become more intelligent and develop a class for themselves.

Ok, as this is settled, the new race of burden has been raised up from the magician hat, lets comment on the mechanic of the mounts called Kalls. Just replace in your minds the Centaur word with Kall because I don’t want to edit the OP.

In GW2 dragons are equivalent to natural disasters… do you ride a volcano?

So they are still slaves of what we want them to be. Having an author inventing a race – expl, Sylvari – will make them owner of that race? I hope not because then the copyright law has gone too far.

and to all others, very few are actually using their brain to make a suggestion or improve an already existing one. The rest are just critics who can’t come up with something of their own than just hit on those who do, calling them stupids, trolls, whatever.
If you don’t support an idea or you don’t have a constructive message like improving the idea, don’t write on it just to increase your posts counts number. Let it be for those who have something to add or change to it say something. Hitting others just shows your low morale. The idea of Guild Wars 2 Hard Mode

in Suggestions

Ronah.2869

My idea of Hard Mode for GW2

1) Unlock HM only by finishing 100% Map Completion. This will require as it is now, going in WvW and doing the Storyline.

2) In hero panel, there will be a check box for HM after this is unlocked.

3) Players who have the HM box checked in Hero panel will ALWAYS get a mini pop up window while entering a zone asking them "Do you want to keep this zone in HM, Yes/No)(teleporting into it from another zone or getting into it through the “door”)

4) When the answer is Yes, then the players stats will be drastically downscaled compared to normal mode and the Heart Events will be emptied

5) The HM CAN NOT BE Switched on within the zone after the initial answer on the pop up window was “No”. This will prevent players from cheating like going HM only when there is an event near by and he jumps is ad switch to HM just before the boss is killed. When he is in HM all the foes will be HM for him during the travel -similar ro HM in GW1

6) as i said on 4), the hears will be emptied in HM and they will need to be filled up again, this time with red color. This will encourage players to go and do all zone in HM similar to vanquishing in GW1. Adding achievements for this will be good too.

7)Players will be able to Switch back to NM at any time by uncheking the box in Hero panel, but only entering the zone again will enable HM if the check box IS marked.

8) this can be evolved into Nightmare mode after completing 100% Map Completion in HM. and so on.

How the sownscaling will work:
Now, a lvl 80 player equipped with respective lvl 80 gear going in a lvl 15 zone can kill a foe in 2 hits compared to a new player killing the same foe in 5 hits.
The downscaling will be done so the lvl 80 player will kill that foe in 7 hits if HM is enabled for him. So in a way he will be “doing worse then a new player” sort to speak

Choosing a Class

Another issue is which starter area you’re gonna bound them to. The first instance-like area where they get minimal exp and no drops? Or the starting level 1-15 (usually) area? Most, if not all, of the level 1-15 areas have dungeons as well. or do you plan to keep them in another instanced version of those areas?

Of course the novice character will be restricted to the lvl 1-15 zone of its race and his racial town. If a player chooses to level up this way and limit himself from going to other starter cities or zones of other races its his own fault.

Getting to choose your profession at lvl 5 won’t be such a terrible thing to what A-net has intended so people can go and visit other zone just after the tutorial.

Besides, having a window pop up every time you want to equip a weapon can become really annoying (this thing will always pop up until you have chosen your profession) and I don’t think most players will resist this annoyance for too long.

Well, now in the game people can get to lvl 30 (or 80) in the starter zone and unlock the dungeons. For me this is a terrible idea having unlocked dungeon by level not by storyline. I wouldn’t have done it like this. A-net just made a compromise for low lvl players so they will not be mentally stressed they need to be lvl 80 to unlock dungeons. That is all to it. a mind release feeling.

Now back to answer: I would make dungeons unlock able through storyline whcih will require to have a specific class chosen. The same thing will happen with the traits and utility skills.

So, if some one will likes to level up to 80 without choosing a class and be boud to his race starter zone and having always a window pop up in the screen every time of choosing a different weapon for a different class, its totally and solely the players fault not the game design. That player will not do the sotryline, will not have traits or utility skills, it will just be a failed player in my opinion.

I think that most players will just level up to 5 and chosoe their profession and be free than stay up in starter zone. A very small part of player base will stay in starter zone to unlock all the weapon skills and extremely few will be in there for ever.

At some point, in GW1, people were able to change their 2nd profession. That was a good option for all. Many used it, many didn’t even know it exists. But in the end it offered posibility for players to play a different character without manking a new one.
That’s why we saw necomancers as spirit healers, elementalists as spririt spammers, warriors as rangers and monks as paragons. Everyone was free to play what profession he wanted on his favorite character. I dont think this will hurt the game, but it will enhance it.

In GW1 people were able to skip 70% of the Prophesy content. I even saw players of lvl 10 at the end mission. No one was hurt by that and I don’t think many have taken this short cut until A-Net has released the HoM rewards calculator.

Making alts and leveling is not everyone’s play-style. Let others have their profession change so they will enjoy the game not be forced to level up a new character. It won’t hurt those who still want to do it, but it will not limit the options for those who are not willing to do that.
