Weekly rotating zone-wide DE buff!

Having and army of lvl 80 characters in low level zones will make low lvl players feel useless and possibly not even getting to an event until it done. You idea would work better if they would add something similar to “Traveler’s Gifts” in GW1. Lets say that this week, the traveler collects spider legs. Only little portions of the zones populated with spiders will be zerged, other parts will remain free for low level players to enjoy.
In both cases, tho, it will create a huge amount of overflow maps

Personal Story and leveling

Ronah.2869

I would just add “traditional quests” between personal story missions which will fill up the story in between. Its not hard to do that and it doesn’t needs cutscenes. just some NPCs to talk to and the fights on the road. The developers can calculate the amount of exp gained through all these missions and quests and let the player do them in a row. Also, the quests can have a free or linear feel depending on the number of objectives.

For example… human story: finding the medicine: go to bandit camp and take it back. Why not find 3 more ingredients for it because the bandits destroyed them in the fight? That will bring up 3 more objectives for people to do before bringing the medicine to the girl’s father. Doing thses objectives, people will automatically participate in events. The longer and spread out on each zone the storyline is, the more fun people will have completing different heart events because they were there not because they want map completion. Also, the these quests will happen in the open world not instances as mission and it possible that specific heart NPCs to be part of these quests. People will need in this case to do those events or at least help in them so the NPC they need to talk to will be available for them.

hmmm.. this really brings back the feel of GW1 when there were “primary quests” and “missions”. If you did only these you could easily go through all story without other grinding

I don’t like the dungeon system because it only makes those places available for people with friends. If i would ask now for an automatic random party finder, more people will jump and argue that they don’t want that. So I don’t care how the dungeons are doing. I am not gonna spend my time just waiting in front of a dungeon fro some one who will add me. Also, the good idea of multiple dungeon path turned out in separating the players.
I would think more if dungeons are hard or not only if they add the heroes from GW1 back. Until them I will just delete those mails no matter what the message is in there.
And from your post i see you will be one of those players who will kick me out of the party because my character gets killed. Elitism, I totally go against it.

They should add PaySafeCard not some over expensive Gemcards. I just saw a post today on official site that they have released those things. 2000 gem card is 29.9 euros which is more than 2000 gems in TP. Why should I spend 4.9 euros on a plastic DVD case just to get my 2000 gems? Very bad marketing move. PaySafeCards are simpler to get from more vendors than just game-shops and are cheaper

Players who buy this by cash wont bother anymore for 1 month lets say about waypoit tax. So they can travel to every zone even if they are accros all the world with their lvl 80 characters. They can jump from Orr to see what are people doing in Kessex Hills for example.
Players who buy the gems with ingame money, they will save gold and then run free where ever they want. In this way, they ca save money for the next month subscription or just but it whenever they afford it.
The 1.3.7 days options are presented for people who have certain free time to play. For example one day/ one week off from work or 3 days for weekends
The 15 days is ut for those spending half of the month to gather the gems for the next free half of the month
This system can be used by those who want to support the game but they don’t have interest in spending money on the current gem store items.

So far, I haven’t really see anyone do this, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

It has been done. There are shooter games with that feature. I have seen it and heard it in APB. It is a very good feature and you could hear the others even if you dont have your VoIP open. There was a sort of volume icon next to the player – similar to the volume icon in youtube and it was fill up with 3 bars according to the distance between you and that player.

It will be easier to talk to random people and there wont be a need to type.
But, because there is always one… it can’t monitor the bad language. Some people may get annoyed by people who talk bad words. So, an option to turn on/of can be appreciated too.

Storyline rewards

I agree that most of rewards are vendor trash. They made it like this so players will actually sell the things or salvage them then hunt them for better stats. They don’t want to give better rewards so players wont be forced to do the storyline. If you read other posts, you will see that people complain about the need to do the story for a PoI which is accessible only through the story. If they give better rewards in story people will complain why they give them and force them to do the storyline.
I personally like the storyline and I do them every time a player lets me join in his storyline. I mostly leveled up helping people with the storyline, but that is just me

Is there an interest in having a class-change option?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Ronah.2869

Ronah.2869

A change of class at lvl 80 can be valid only if there won’t be any skills or trait points unlocked. This makes your character learn everything it needs to know about that new profession. One disadvantage for you can be the fact that the new profession might not be able to use all or part of your lvl 80 gear (weapons or armors) due to class limitations
This might offer a bit of re playability because you have certain gear advantage similar to high level players in starter zones so you won’t feel like leveling a total new weak character.

I agree with rgrwng.4072. As the titles now in GW2 are less visible than in GW1, and this game emphases the visuals, it will be cool to have different effects on the character accordingly to the title he/she is displaying. In this way people can recognize what titles players have without selecting the respective player.
Of course an option to “hide player title’s visual” will be necessary for those who will be against this new addition.
Really good idea rgrwng.4072. You can turn it into a specific thread too.

Bumping this idea. It also can be extended with this : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/User-generated-content/first#post451598 so A-Net will let a part of the work to be done by players. for expanding the elite zones. Awarding different unique items (armors/weapons) to the contributing players might work as well.
The elite zones will be “out of the world of Tyria” and except the foes that in general will be those from the world, the action takes place in an outer realm discovered by the experiments of Asurans who created portals to go in there.
These elite zones, a mass PvE raid dungeon as some might call it, with multiple bosses and ever expanding with no direct relation between it and the rest of the game world, can be a really innovative idea for GW2. PvP players have WvW, and with this PvE players will have their own non-stop extravaganza.

This really made me laugh. Effort in achievements = grinding. It only shows that some players have more time and patience not how good they are.

Some of the other points you mentioned are ok. Don’t argue them too much. But i don’t understand why you think I am a troll when basically I gave good explanations to every one. There are other MMOs in which you can buy a lvl 80 character and also levels. There are MMOs that give you different titles if you buy things from the store.

Do i even need to? they just asked for the game to be played to completion for them by paying money and for legendary weapons right off the bat to boot . If thats not Pay to Win then i dont know what is .

GW Cash shop things have never been Pay to win EVER .

You obviously confuse the meaning of “pay to win” system. A pay to win is that you can get something that makes you stronger compared to other players and that something is not obtainable within the game by any means. So, a player not willing to spend money will never get it. As long as the things I mentioned are in TP buy-able with gems, anyone can have them.
Let me give you an example on what things could make GW2 a pay to win.
- Potions that will replenish your health gauge automatically not letting you loose health
- Potions that will replenish your dodge gauge automatically so you can continuously be able to dodge
- Weapons and armors with better starts than those found in the game
- Buyable resources for WvW
etc

Everything I suggested in OP does not make you more powerful than others and you don’t have an advantage over others. its like you say that being lvl 80 from the start when going in PvP will ruin the PvP experience for others.
If you unlock all waypoints, what advantages does it gives you as a starter character? Do you have enough currency to pay for traveling to Orr? I guess not, and even if you do get to Orr, do you have the required skills or armor to resist in there? No. You will need to buy the other packages which obviously will cost a lot o money.
So, if they let people be in PvP from the start freely, why can they be in Orr from the start by paying money to an A-Net service if they don’t want to experience the game.
It only lets you speed up the process of your game time . No one will be tougher than you no matter how many achievements they have from the start. Achievements dont give you boosts or any advantage if you have them. They are your personal pride which is not shown in the game anyway. You have those legendary weapons and armors to be proud of
By the way, do you actually see the achievements of others? No you don’t so what do you think will disadvantage you compared to others as long as no one sees them
Oh, the titles? C’mon, in GW1 people were adoring titles because they could stay in towns and people could admire them. In here, no one cares about the titles. It is the same what they did when “Legendary defender of Ascalon” was nerfed and everyone with enough patience can get it not like it was before with death-leveling. It was not so important to get it anymore. Not all players are interested in showing off

So, Adine, try to learn more about what “pay to win” means and don’t confuse mechanics with principles.

As you can see, all items listed in there are meant for that “buy my way through the game instead of playing it”. They are convenience things for people who earn real money more easily then game money and don’t have too much time to achieve things in-game so they won’t feel they are never going to get them.

Also, the “Hero” from the “Miscellaneous” category will offer players a total skip feature for all the storyline. I have seen many of them here complaining about the need to do the stotyline on alts. That would be convenient for them too.

I haven’t included dungeon armors skins or legendary weapons because those are meant to be earn in the game, but the other things I put in there are meant to ease that way till there. All waypoints unlocked combined with story line skip and skill point pack and crafting packs can actually reduce the time for obtaining it.

Also, the “Dungeon master” in “Miscellaneous” category unlock all explorable modes for dungeons, so it give you a story mode skip but does not offer you tokens.

  • the elite zones should be unlocked only after storyline is completed.

I don’t agree with that. I don’t like the idea that someone can’t participate because he/she don’t like the story. A lvl80 limitation should be enough. Since Anet feels that grinding lvl to get to specific content is not cool, I don’t know how they’d feel about a lvl80 limitation (ex: in early beta, upscaling was in WvW AND open world, explorable mode is available at low lvl). But I feel that a lvl80 limitation is necessary since a lot of upscaled player will face painful death.

I understand your frustration, but A-net has already made decisions that people need to go in WvW for map completion and also one Point of interest is unlocked only through the story mode. If we count here that you couldn’t go in Elite dungeons in GW1 unless you have done some story missions. I think the idea is fairly within this specific game design.

This suggestion forum has this purpose to let people say what they would like to see in the game on later expansions. Being a free game, no one can argue that they pay 15 USD / month to play it. So whenever you guys feel there is nothing to do in the game, let it be for a while, play other games or write suggestions here in the forum. Later, when other games are boring or don’t deliver content anymore, than come back to play.
This is the side -effect of the game on players who have more time to spend in it. The sooner you get to “whatever you want from it” the lesser things you have to do.
Personally, i am just leveling all professions one by one and I am not playing much in a day – 1-2 hours – and I still have the “carrot on the stick” ahead which is called lvl 80
What will happen when I get to lvl 80? I don’t know, but knowing that I have 8 professions to play (i bought the auxiliary 3 character slots) and reach lvl 80 I think I have plenty to do until the next expansion will come.
What advantages I have by doing this play style? Except I am seeing various stories of different race/biographies, I am also happen to encounter different parts of events that I haven’t done before because I wasn’t in there at that time.
The disadvantages? Well, if we don’t count the “long time to level up”, another one would be the repetitive feel of everything. But as I said before I play like 1-2h in day after work, so I don’t have enough time to get to see too much of that repetitive thing.
This is me, this is how I played most games. Others don’t do like that. They rush till the end and then they feel the repetitive nature of it, I only get used to in on the process of leveling and reaching the end. Both play styles lead to the inevitable feeling of “quitting the game” but the reasons are different: one for too long time to reach the end, other for not having what to do except repetition, after reaching the end.

Uber-scale World Events for "Endgame"

in Suggestions

Ronah.2869

I like the idea and I would add this:

- the elite zones are randomly open: player shouldn’t be able to choose where to go. All players who go through the portal will fill up a zone until its full. The others who will come later will join a new elite zone. If a player leaves the elite zone, another one can take its place. To avoid queuing in front of the portal, there should be overflow maps with similar events going on.

- the size of the elite zone should be about the size of Divinity Reach with waypoints for faster travel

- the elite zones should be unlocked only after storyline is completed.

- the events are not triggered by players. They spawn when a certain criteria is fulfilled: These criteria should not be all contained in that specific elite zone but they should be the same for all elite zones. These will motivate players to go in other zones and complete the tasks before the event takes place. The criteria will change daily so the events in the elite zones will be changed by that too. Low level players can help to complete the criteria too. Once the criteria is fulfilled, it will remain so for the rest of the day. The elite zone events will happen after that only based in timer not criteria
(Expl: Criteria= 1000 Orcs killed. Lvl 80 palyers can go in other zones to kill Orcs but the low level players in those zones killing the Orcs will count too. The number of kills should vary depending on the density of those foes in the world)
The criteria for the events in elite zones should be announced in-game, in the daily achievements but marked as elite criteria. Every player can see it growing up even if he is not directly participating. This achievement won’t count for the Daily Achievement completion.

- elite zone bosses will be from all types of foes seen in the game before: orcs, trolls, elementals, dragons, wolfs etc.

- every new expansion can add a new elite zone

In the end, all cars serve for the same purpose – traveling from point A to point B, but only the skins differ.

What is the matter of daily achievements? They are there so almost anyone can get them while playing without focusing on what they need to do. Mystic Forge? Trading Post profit? Do you see that only a few will do them? Personally I have never did anything with the Forge till now and I am not even interested. What I dislike the most from all games are “work professions”. They should be just mini games but as far as it is now, all developers are putting so much interest into it.
I prefer the daily achievements as they are now and not force me to look all the time in the Hero window when i log in the game what I need to do.

There is now only one skin for each type of armor and weapon. The only thing that differentiate one guild from another is only the emblem. I wish in future expansions, when the guild feature will be developed properly, to see more type of armors and weapons. Lets say there are some guild categories that can be chosen – traveler, conqueror, technocrat, barbarian, natural, etc. The types of guild armors and weapons can be designed accordingly. The more guild types there are, the better differentiate between guilds

Well, they used the style of GW1 for displaying characters in character screen, although in GW1 that screen looked awesome compared to this new one.

Anyway, they really need to change the character select screen because it doesnt look good at all. I know its not something that affects the gameplay, but it really affects the perception of the game by the public. If we add this to the fact they removed the title screen too, than these marketing people need to learn a bit more about the “looks” of a game presentaion

The TP has now the basic functions for the game to work. I am sure it will be updated later with better options. In betas there was the “gift” icon saying “feature not implemented yet”

Yes, you need to copy that folder to the new PC. Use an external HDD to save it and then copy it on the new PC. It will start downloading from where you left it. The game does not have an installer. It just is ready for launching.

How about adding colored dots around character icons which represent their strength. One dot for every 20 levels. It will also look nice too. How will this work with downleveling? Simple. The dots will change colors: A lvl 80 character with 4 yellow dots will become downleveled in the starter aria having 1 dot red and 3 yellow. It will show how high level he is (4 dots) and also people will know what level are playing in.
Supposing they will add 20 more levels with the next expansions, then one more dot will appear.. The dots will be visible under the health bar while in the world and around the face icon circle when selected.
For foes it will work the same only that they will not be showing downleveled but only their strength.
In an zone normal foes will have 1-3 dots, Veterans 4 and Champions 5

If they call it differently than “subscription” than its ok. Let’s say they call it" Gem’s Delivery Post" or “Recurring Gems” than it will satisfy your request and won’t confuse people. It can be posted on “Services tab”

Probably they left the endgame open for the next expansion.s. Possibly lvl 80 will be the max level after all and every new zone added in expansions will be only a lvl 80 zone. Maybe they will raise the level cap to 90 and after that to 100. It seems possible.
If people are reaching the lvl 80 in 1-2 weeks and they feel they don’t have any motivation to play more, than I think it was a fair price 50 USD for a PC game. Many single player games that can be beaten in a week and cost the same. So, you haven’t waste your money. You are free now to experiment other games and when the next exansion will be live, you can come back and restart your character progress if you don’t enjoy playing other characters. You might probably need to buy the expansion too, but you can consider that a new PC game you can beat in 1 week. After you beat i, you can continue to other game as before. I think WoW players are now playing Pandoria and after they finish it, they will come back to GW2 and start the things from where they left them.

Almost every Chinese or Korean MMO has this system and it works great. Besides, there are a few MMOs without level requirements, the one that comes in my mind is Age of Wulin. I’d personally make lvl 30 the max level in GW2, when you unlock your elte skill. All the zones with levels above 30 will be transformed into lvl 30 zones. They can twitch a bit the game difficulty in a way that lvl 30 feels like lvl 80, lvl 20 like lvl 50, lvl 10 like lvl 30. I would not reduce the amount of exp gained because the lvl 30 can be actually obtained in a day. This will keep a little tradition as in GW1 where you could get max level in 1 day too.
