I did the event last night, so I thought it was fixed. I might have just gone to the map when it happened to be busy enough to create a new instance, though.

You said you spent all of your mastery points on Pact Commander. Did you put Tyrian Mastery points into Revered Antiquarian and Follows Advice? If you don’t do that, you can’t go to the next tier (which would be why you can’t manually choose the next tier). If you’re out of points, you can look at the achievements to find which achievements you can do to get more Tyrian Mastery points.

Have you tried running the game on the new 64-bit client? Doing so has solved a vast majority of the problems people were having with DS crashes, from what I hear. I’ve only done DS on the 64-bit client, and I’ve had no crashes.

The only controls are to press your jump key (space bar by default) while in the air to start gliding, use your movement keys (arrow keys, wsad, etc.) to turn, and use your jump key again to stop gliding. You won’t really be able to make tight turns at all, but you’ll be able to use lean techniques (lean forward to go faster/back to slow down) once you unlock the Lean Techniques mastery.

There’s already a discount in place for moving to a lower population server. Moving to a Medium population server costs only 500 gems, moving to a High server costs 1000 gems, and moving to a Very High server costs 1800 gems.

As simplesimon suggest above, you could wait for another tournament to see if they do a discount/free transfer to lower pop servers then. However, the last time they did that, it didn’t go well for the wvw population in many servers. I honestly don’t think they’ll offer a drastic discount or free transfers again.

If you really don’t want to pay the transfer fee, you both have the option of deleting all of your characters (put any important items in your bank before doing so) to be able to choose a new server for free.

The spears are called Harpoons for some vendors, including the COF/all dungeon ones.

If you just want a level 80 berserker spear, you could craft one, buy one off the Trading Post, or buy it from the COF/COE/Arah vendors.

Your breather, in all honesty, doesn’t matter all that much. You’d be fine just buying the level 80 Masterwork quality one from the karma vendor at Gaveborn’s Landing in Cursed Shore. If you really want a rare one, though, feel free to get it.

That mission definitely has some weirdness going on with it. I did it solo on one character, and it went fairly smoothly and without bugs. However, I did it on a different character alongside my husband last night, and my god, there were some serious bugs.

We ended up wiping three times on the end boss. After the first wipe things were still normal until Braham decided to open one of the rifts NEXT TO the platform we’re fighting on; Braham and the rift were floating in the air. Since it was in the air, neither of us could stand there to channel, and so we had to both die to reset.

The second time things were still mostly fine, even though I had a fail and died, leaving my husband to finish off the boss alone; he got to the end phase where you defend your party as they open the rift. However, he slipped up and died.

After we both revived and were ported back down to the fight, we noticed a rift was left open from the previous attempt. I interacted with it and, after fully channeling it, noticed it triggered the dialogue from the beginning of the fight that happens if the instance owner is a Sylvari. The rift stayed there (and remained active) throughout the remainder of our fight. We fought the first Evil Clone of Our Allies, and then the boss went from 85% health to 15% in a second. This triggered the trash mobs for the final phase, but we were also still having to fight off the second Evil Clone of Our Allies as we fought through the trash. Luckily, we were able to kill the boss that time anyway.

So yeah, SERIOUS bugs can (and do) happen.

They usually go up either right before or right after a patch. However, since this will be kind of a special release, I’m not sure when they’ll put up notes.

Can you clarify the bolded part?

I’m reading it as either:

• You have to have a character from before the update that hasn’t progressed past that point.
• The older character must be on that story step to still retain access.

“What This Means for You
When the update goes live, it will restore the Personal Story steps in chapters 7 and 8 to their original order. This will affect a small number of users who currently have characters in certain states of story completion. You can check your current story completion status by accessing the Story Journal in your Hero Panel. By default, you can access this inside the game by pressing H and then clicking on the Story Journal tab and selecting My Story.

If your character has not completed “A Light in the Darkness,” (chapter 6) you should not encounter any issues. You will be able to experience the Personal Story in its restored order along with the minor improvements that begin with this story step.

If your character has not completed “Forging the Pact,” you should not encounter any issues. While you will not be able to replay previous story steps to see some of the minor improvements that were made, you will be able to play the “My Greatest Fear” story content (based on the choice you made at the end of “A Light in the Darkness”) and also experience the restored chapter 8 story steps.

If your character has completed Forging the Pact and skipped ahead to “The Battle of Fort Trinity,” then you will not be able to play the “My Greatest Fear” story steps with this character."

It’s a really annoying quirk of the system. The “specialty” armor requirement says, “soulbind 18 unique pieces of ____ cultural armor;” the game, however, requires you to purchase each.

Yeah. The game would greatly benefit from some more specific item/achievement descriptions.

When the first instance of a map reaches a certain capacity, a new instance of it opens up. It does this as many times as is necessary to fit the number of players. You can hop to other instances by joining a party with someone on a different one, right clicking on their party portrait, and choosing "Join In . . . ". As long as their instance isn’t full, you’ll join them in their instance.

People will advertise their maps on the LFG tool so that people can join.

1. Yes, exotics are very viable.
2. Depends on what game mode you mean. Shields (in most cases) are pretty useless in open world pve and most dungeons, for example. But they could be useful for other things.
3. Ascended and Legendary are the highest tier of armor/weapons. You craft Legendary weapons (and, after HoT raids launch, armor) after doing a long and pricey scavenger hunt-type-thing to get all the components. Ascended drops from champ bags, specific world boss chests, Fractals of the Mists, etc. You can also craft Ascended gear after getting your craft leveling up to 500 in the discipline that makes the armor/weapons you use.
4. Most likely, yes.
5. There are lots. Like, way too many for me to type out here. You could try reading through the old patch notes from when you were gone.

General summary: Living World Season 2 happened, a few balance patches, a New Player Experience (which changed the way you unlock features in the game, how you get traits, and other things), patches reverting some parts of the New Player Experience, the base game going Free To Play (with heavy restrictions), etc.

6. The endgame right now is basically the same as it was before you left. Fractals, wvw, more spvp, crafting legendaries, crafting ascended, etc. People also farm the “new” zone Silverwastes, too.

Yeah. I’m sorry to be the buzzkill. That whole area is just sad for me because of the sick quaggans.

I’m fairly certain those are the bugs/flies/whatever that fly around your head when you catch whatever disease the poor quaggans are dying of.

Also unless I was just dreaming there is a mastery in HoT that is auto loot so loot will automatically go into your bags.

There is already a “autoloot” system and you can find it under options here in-game.

The “autoloot” in GW2, as it works right now, doesn’t automatically collect your loot; it just collects all of the loot from the corpse/chest automatically (after you press F) instead of making you select each item to pick up.

You can only get the key from the level 10 story once per week. Did you already do a different level 10 story this week?

Salvageable level 68 – 80 rares and exotics. That’s it.

You won’t be able to play the elite specs without buying HoT, even in spvp.

And Anet wants people to BUY the game and not just stay on a free account; that’s why free accounts have so many restrictions. If someone is serious about being a “pro” e-sport player, they’ll buy the game. If they’re not, they won’t.

The support team isn’t working on the release. They’re still working at the normal speed.

OP: Yes, put in a support ticket, and ask if you can switch with a different ring.

And, to be fair to OP and others who have done the same thing, “Unique” is a pretty vague descriptor. The word itself just means “one of a kind or unlike anything else”. Nowhere in the game are you told that “Unique” means “Can only use one such item on a character at a time”. It’s an easy mistake to make once. Now, if you make a habit of it, then that’s definitely all on you.

It’s an expansion; it adds on to the existing GW2 game. It’s adding new pve and wvw maps, new pvp mode, a new class, new elite specializations for each class, and quite a few other things. And you have to have the base game to play the expansion.

What Serval and Alric said: you can get that achievement without doing the bomb run. Doing that JP with the bomb run is frustrating as all get out; it’s one of the few things in GW2 that actually just made me rage-log-off. But without the bomb, you can kill things if you want or just throw on swiftness and run by them all.

Since you’re reaching this far already, do you think you could scratch this itch I can’t reach for me?

Yeah, if you’re just starting out in the game, I’d just save everything you gather. Make sure you have the highest level gathering tools you can use, and gather everything as you’re mapping/leveling. Deposit it all to your material storage, and let it sit there until you’ve amassed a good number of mats and currency. Once you’re further along, then you should try out crafting.

Eh, I think buying more bank tabs would be better to get before grabbing the material expansions.

For everything in your inventory, click on the cog icon and choose Deposit All; that will deposit all the materials into your material storage. You can then take the materials (wood, metal, cloth, etc.) out of your bank and deposit those the same way. You could also right click on each item and choose “Deposit”, as well.

You can double click on the luck (the green and yellow blobs) to add them to your account Magic Find. You can double click on the transmutation stones to consume them and turn them into a transmutation charge.

ANything else (weapons, sigils, armor, etc.) you could see about selling to a vendor or on the TP. The dye could be opened or just sold on the TP as is.

Out of curiosity, how much is your tax? Ours is 24%.

Mine was I think around 8.25%. 6.25% is the standard for internet purchase sales tax in Texas, and then certain areas (like ours) make you pay a local sales tax (up to 2%, I think).

Are you completely sure that’s the one you missed? There are a lot of areas that have more than one karka to find, and it can be easy to mix up a couple of them. Triple check the Achievement in the Achievement panel. If you do that and that’s still the one you’re missing, try a relog of the game. If that doesn’t fix it, then I’d put in a support ticket.

My husband and I are in Texas, and we paid tax on the purchase. There you go.
