The text on the items is misleading and needs to be fixed. When buying the recipes for any crafting item, you need to be aware of what item you will be making with it. If you’re making a greatsword core, then you HAVE to use it on a Weaponsmithing character because Weaponsmiths are the only ones who can craft greatswords and their components.
The same applies to any other recipe that makes a component of a weapon (ie. precursor crafting recipes).
If it’s a rifle, pistol, longbow, shortbow, warhorn, harpoon gun, or torch component, you have to learn the recipe on a Huntsman.
If it’s a greatsword, sword, dagger, spear, mace, hammer, axe, or shield component, then you need to learn the recipe on a Weaponsmith.
If it’s a trident, focus, staff, or scepter, you need to learn the recipe on an Artificer.
Everything you use to make Mawdrey is either account bound or unbound. So, you can make the components on one character or on multiple characters.
I’m pretty sure the gloves are the Arah light gloves (wrappings of the lich), not Tribal. And yeah, the helm is definitely the Wraith masque (necro starter option).
As for refunds: if you’ve had these account-bound items for ages, we won’t be doing refunds because you’ve already derived substantial benefit. If, however, you bought them more recently, we’re doing refunds on a case-by-case basis.

Agreed. Especially since it’s 700 gems for ONE shared slot. A refund for duplicate items going into that slot would be nice. :\

What you could do is either send him the gold he’d need to upgrade to the Deluxe or buy a gem card for him (give him the code on the back so that he can redeem the gems himself).
I think this is incorrect. Only way to upgrade free account is with real money purchase. Digital deluxe upgrade in gem store only for upgrade paid core account to deluxe or paid HoT account to that deluxe version.

It could work, given that the Dwarves’ homeland is really close to the Crystal Desert. Maybe they will be forced out of the depths and will help the ground-level races battle both dragons.
Spoiler alert: only one dwarf remains, all the others were wiped out.
Ogden is the only dwarf still on the surface. There may be few others that remain, but they’re still underground if they are alive. And we just don’t know either way.

My only concern is that ANet is inconsistent.
- The best thing about semi-monthly updates is that there’s always something new. The worst part is it puts insane pressure on the devs, maybe distracting them from the big picture.
- The best thing about quarterly updates is that it gives the devs time to retune before having to turn their attention to the next big thing. The worst thing is that if the update is considered ‘meh’, it’s a long time to wait and people can lose interest.
I’d like to see ANet do both: 3-6 months/year of frequent updates, perhaps alongside a new Living Story and infrequent updates the rest of the year.
What I’d hate to see is what we saw in 2015: very little new stuff, with ANet missing every opportunity to generate excitement for the expac within the game. A lot of people lost interest and by the time HoT went live, their expectations were sometimes unreasonable… or they had given up and gone elsewhere.
This sums up how I feel about the whole thing, pretty much.

Any of you know of a good way to get some extra speed out of a Necro without using a Signet of Locust? There’s also a specialization for Movespeed with Dagger, but I’m not too interested in that, either.

That dagger trait and Speed of Shadows (+25% movement speed in Death Shroud) are your only traited speed options as a necro. You have warhorn 5 for swiftness, but that’ll put you into combat if you so much as look at anything that can be attacked. There’s Spectral Walk for more swiftness (which I think can be traited to have a shorter cooldown), but you’d have to sacrifice a utility slot to keep that on there.
You could mess with runes that give extra movement speed or runes that give swiftness.

Ascended backpacks basically have upgrade stats already built into it. That’s why there’s no upgrade slot.

The only thing you could do is party up with someone who is in the Order of Whispers and do the next story step with them. That should get you back onto the Order of Whispers track, but you’d have to be careful to not party up for order-specific missions with your Priory friend again (or be prepared to decline credit and then do them again to stay on your own order’s story).

It IS part of a rifle. You craft the core, and it’s then used to craft the Auric Rifle. It takes already refined materials (Auric ingots) and creates the core, which is then used to make that rifle. Similarly, the exalted dagger core is a part used to craft the Auric dagger (which is a weaponsmith item). If you tried to go craft the dagger core on a huntsman or artificer it wouldn’t work because only a weaponsmith could make it.

It’s not a rifle, its rifle core.. i can craft elonian leather squares with my armorsmith, but use them when craft on leatherworker, recipe said i can craft it with my weaponsmith, but i can’t..
Elonian leather is a cross-profession crafting material that is used for making all ascended armor and certain ascended weapons. A rifle core isn’t in the same family as leather since it’s only made to be used to craft a rifle.
And looking at the wiki page for that rifle core, it says that it’s only made by a Huntsman. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exalted_Rifle_Core Similarly, the page for the staff core says that is only made by an artificer (the profession that makes staves).
The bug here is the flavor text/tool tip saying that it (and all the other weapon cores) can be crafted by any weapon discipline. So, I’d report that and not the Huntsman part, since that part is working as intended.
Weaponsmiths don’t make rifles or pistols; Huntsmen do. So, it only showing up for Huntsman isn’t a bug.
Necros are pretty great tanks.

What if someone used a network of mesmer portals and/or teleport to friend consumables?
Since the person being discussed was banned today, it’s likely they were part of the mega Wintersday JP botting ban, which means Teleport to a Friend and mesmer portals wouldn’t be the case because neither can be used there.
Even if they were banned for a different area of the game, it’s still a bit suspicious to move that much in that amount of time. I mean, there’d be loading screens anytime a waypoint or Teleport to Friend happened. Even if they load very, very quickly, those seconds would still add up.
Yes, there’s a 500g per week limit when it comes to gold given to you by other players and gold from your guild bank. You’ll be able to take more out this weekend. If the price goes up 100g before that, then you just have bad luck. There isn’t a cap on how much gold you can have in your personal inventory, though.

Are you sure you have all the components necessary to change your ascended piece into a Trailblazer stat one? You’d need the gossamer insignia (which you craft after buying and learning the recipe), the armor piece, 5 ectos, and the hero point item you buy from Miyani.

I don’t need to view any FAQ because I have access to a f2p account and see what it can and cannot do firsthand. You are nitpicking here. Ok, yes, there is a “selected list” of what f2p accounts can sell. I do not know what that list contains and I do not care. Nothing in my inventory is on that list. The list was made to ensure that nobody uses f2p accounts to “farm stuff” and have another account profit from it, and it does its job. You cannot sell anything you obtain from wintersday gifts and botting the JP on a f2p account would be completely wasted time so it is not done, period.

Yeah, you can only get it in Malchor’s Leap and Cursed Shore, I believe. That’s the only one that’s not accessible in a beginner zone, though.
Unfortunately, there isn’t too much another player could do to protect you through the Orr zones, other than stopping to revive you every time you get killed (which will be VERY often, as you already noticed due to mobs having an increased aggro range when you’re that low-leveled). I mean, it can be done, but it’ll take almost as long as it would take for you to try to do it on your own. But maybe someone with stealth could cut down on the time a lot.
What you could do is try to level up a bit (either by doing pvp to get tomes of knowledge, simply logging in every day to get more tomes, or by playing the game as you normally would) before trying again. You have until the morning of January 12th to get all the Wintersday stuff done (maybe longer, if it’s anything like it was last year where you could finish the achievement if you’d started it before the festival ended). So, that’s a decent amount of time to get to around level 70-75.

I don’t know what achievement you’re talking about. My Obsidian Sanctum achievement doesn’t have a recommended number of players. And I only had to do the JP once to get the achievement. Regardless, though, if it did say “15 players” that means that it’s recommended you do it with 15 people; it doesn’t mean that you do it 15 times.
I don’t think it’s the achievement, it’s probably a WvW guild challenge to run that JP – I have never seen that challenge in my guild so I don’t really know the answer.

There’s a snowman who can blow you off of the platform after the exploding presents, but that is easily avoided by watching the snowman. And you CAN dodge through the gust and avoid getting blown away. Again, just watch the snowman, and don’t run past him if you see him blowing the wind at you.
