“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
I see. Well, maybe then I can sell my surplus that fills my bags from under lvl 50 adventures (got to really start cooking). Everyone else, buy butter
Yay for butter. No seriously, where do you see a nerf?
You can get jugs to 7650. Karma booster, guild karma banner, guild karma booster, and karma food.
And I don’t see why it wouldn’t be intended. Karma boosters boost karma. A jug of karma gives karma. I don’t see any reason to not boost the jug
Well, mainly because all boosters are time limited. You can stack your jugs and get a lot of bang for your buck that way. I guess all I’m saying is that I would not bet on it staying that way. That’s just me thinking out loud though.
Does make you wonder if that is intended though.
You already had 40 silver at lvl 10? Not bad, I don’t think you need advise on how to make money.
I agree with the other posters here, don’t spend money on your gear until later.
I became a bit frustrated with the change to GS and decided to try something new. Having a lot of fun with this so far, very nice self-healing and you are using the utility skills all the time.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/guardian/Selfish-Monk-build/first#post588892
I might change the staff though and try something else as secondary weapon set.
Free yourself from the dark side! I need my GW2 minion slayer fix. For the time being I can survive on the Swtor minion slayers … but not for much longer…
Mhh, I honestly never looked into that, usually if I’m low on health and still burning I just heal up once and I’m good. Perhaps a bug or misleading tooltip, will try to test that tonight.
Considering the amount of lines I am not sure if having each line voice acted according to profession eight times, or even more if you think of a potential background (commoner vs noble etc.) would be justified – not that I’m against it.
But there is definitely often a sense of urgency missing in the cut-scenes specifically.
Perhaps this helps
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Burning
I assume you were talking about the warrior trait “Signet of Stamina”, not sure why it would not remove burning.
Well that’s good to know, don’t have to worry about phase 2 at all then.
Kinda disappointing.
It’s one thing to miss a cut-scene, it’s another do not get into the spirit at all because you literally don’t feel it. There was an invasion in Lion’s Arch apparently.
Halloween worked a lot better that way. There could have been at least some aftermath battles on the outskirts – not just the occasional DE somewhere in Kessex Hills.
Hopefully the island will make up for it.
I’m not going to buy the chests.
If something drops from a mob – yay. If not, fine.
This time around, unless the prices are very reasonable, I won’t buy any limited time event item from the TP either. Somehow I don’t want to support this.
I understand (or this is how I take it) that the minis were put in the chest as an extra incentive – that was the only part I was fine with at Halloween, selling the mini’s in the store.
On a side note – please start to make pieces (armour/weapons) fit to a theme. The tiki shield is nice, but it would not fit to anything else (aka complete outfit). Halloween was different there, a black grinning shield somehow fits to everything imho.
It feels a bit lower to me, maybe I’m playing a tad less though – probably just the normal random chance.
Huh, not sure what kind of negative comments you could have gotten from that. The effects where great, the actors believable and it’s a nice interpretation. Very much liked the style of the mesmer, I’m sure the elementalist would have been a lot harder to flesh out – no, I don’t mean a skimpier outfit, more in a sense of “powerful wielding of the elements”.
I would have loved to see some dodge-rolls sprinkled in
Just kidding, a very good short film, kudos!
Lovely. My favourite on your site is the fox ranger, second would be Subject 221.
Hi!
you got some awesome art there, fits very nicely to the style here.
I recommend anyone to check out your blog.
Thanks for sharing!
I don’t remember exactly where it is but in one of the slyvari areas there was an NPC that says he’s “a leaf on the wind”.
EDIT: for those who don’t know or remember it’s from Firefly
Also the personal storyline “Can’t Stop the Signal”.
Nice names here!
The Immortal King sounds like a good round of boasting and is in my eyes therefore norn approved
My male Guardian – Eilaf, no last name.
My female Thief – Grima Hildr (grima=masked, hildr=battle/fight, also the name of a valkyrie)
What were you going for? The composition does not speak to me personally. But don’t give up!
I tried something like this a long time ago with screenshots of my characters, wasn’t successful due to flames being in there (and I tried to make sure the height etc was correct).
I got this bookmarked, the video can make dizzy but I thought it pretty good because it covers a few different things. Done with kitten, which if my memory serves correct is free (haven’t done anything in a loooong time).
Good luck and have fun!
I don’t see it as bad because it sounds like it’s only one step in-between.
I’m pretty sure Anet is not only doing things according to feedback on the forums but according to their internal statistics.
At the end of the day the legendaries are still the end of it – so putting some steps in-between, as long as they don’t interfere with that “end-goal” should make no difference, on the contrary it will let us all accomplish something on the way to the legendaries.
To me that makes sense.
I don’t think it sounds too bad. Good compromise imo. Hopefully it won’t get too confusing in the long run.
I do like the puzzles. I forgot about those. Eh, having rare vanity loot keeps things interesting in my opinion. An extra thing to hope for or go for while doing things.
Wow definitely does a very good job at catering to the collector. So does Lotro as well.
The business model here seems to be slightly different in that regard. Not that there aren’t things to collect, but there seem to be limited sources to get them.
That aside – and we’ll have to see how this plays out – it seems to me that Anet will come out with an update of some sorts every month. Halloween was fun, even if there weren’t too many vanity items to collect (actively, not talking about buying on TP or ultra low chest chance) – lost shores coming up this month – something coming up in december (scratches head) …
I think we all want that!
Now I’m not deep into either WvW nor PvP – but afaik there is a new PvP map coming out, hopefully that will be fun, plus they are working on the matchmaking.
More mini-games, I’m all for it. I know this sounds odd, but I actually miss the typical “fishing” hobby.
I guess you are not a fan of the puzzles?
Well, I for one do like that there is no rare dungeon loot. Works a bit different here, thinking about mini’s (companions) I guess they all come from the store and then the doubles end up in the TP (?).
I am still not sure what exactly you want for the “endgame”?
What would be worthwhile doing?
Just because YOU don’t like something doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist. What about all the players who DO want it? Don’t you think they should have something they want also?
Maybe YOU shouldn’t play MMO’s?
Grinding is assuming you are no better than a horse chasing a carrot dangling from a stick in front of its face. Doing content you do not enjoy and in which you do not have fun just because it gives a shiny reward in the end is the same as lowering yourself to the level of a mindless animal.
I don’t know why so many players, who love traditional MMOs, fall for it. GW2 was being different in that it was dealing with their players as human beings. It appears players don’t want to be treated as human beings and instead see themselves more as mindless animals, but I’m still surprised that ArenaNet changed its mind so soon.
Grinding is bad. It’s bad design, and the fact it sells – or used to sell, considering how almost all recent MMOs have failed – doesn’t change how it’s bad design.
heh I had to LOL on this one!
So what are the point of Dungeons then? I take it you don’t like to run dungeons?
Thats all they are is a grind! A grind to get the gear you want. All of you complaining and who run dungeons are already doing the gear grind but you don’t even want to admit it. Just in this case you are grinding for looks and not stats. If you don’t like dungeons then what do you do? Level alts? (Grinding levels?)
You like to craft? (Gotta grind for mats).Next time you call people mindless animals maybe you should take a look in the mirror.
Perhaps have a look here and you might understand that there is more than one way.
http://www.arena.net/blog/is-it-fun-colin-johanson-on-how-arenanet-measures-success
Now I always take these statements with a grain of salt, however, the main direction should stay this way – otherwise it will become the same as all the others and I don’t think they should try to compete with that.
Hi everyone,
We’re going to publish a blogpost about the new ascended items on the Guild Wars 2 website. This should answer most of the community’s questions before the content is live this weekend.
Thanks for your patience!
Merci!
So how come buffed.de got a “german” comment from the dev’s apparently and there is nothing to be found here on this very forum?
Can we get a verification for this? Who was talking to them? There is no name mentioned.
dirtyklingon – the translation was mostly fine, perhaps the last sentence is a bit hard to understand, it basically says that for most acquiring a higher tier of gear is a strong motivator.
I’ll wait how it plays out, but it’s already saddening indeed, especially given the fact that the crowd that is so high about getting stronger stats are going to be done with that a week after and moan some more about how there is nothing to do.
No subscription or not – this goes against any article I’ve read from ArenaNet so far about their vision etc.
(…)
Fair enough and nothing wrong with it. I might be wrong but I think that may have to do with different playstyles. I don’t grind, I like to … go on an adventure. As cliche as that sounds. I still remember coming to Ironforge for the first time … well, somewhere down the road that all got lost in a number game, the hunt for stats. Here I don’t have to hunt for stats – that’s what I like.
Slightly different appeal, I’m also not a “raider”, consequently there has been a lot of “content” that I never qualified for – which is ok in a way.
Strangely enough I miss the fishing …
Preventing people from voluntarily trading items just so that there won’t be a price tag to complain about is not really a good approach, especially when it wouldn’t stop the complaints about RNG.
Make it less RNG then, otherwise I had the same thought, make it account bound. That way prices for the other ingredients should stay more inline as well because the demand is more streamlined.
Sounds like brainwashing. I woke up one day after I looked at the plan – raise rep with x, do daily 1000 times here, there and there. Same for 3 other factions, get Y by doing this 100 times. Go farm ride in circles on this map for crafting. Oops, new update, new rep faction, new dungeon here, do daily there …
So umm, tell them: “What do you have to lose? A few hours of game time?”
Since Wow is not grindy that should not matter, you can get right back into where you left off. Or maybe not because everyone has the next tier of stuff already? ponders
what’s the point of housing? serious question.
What’s the point in any other activity in GW2 or any other game like that? Fun. Simply having fun.
Not everyone likes pvp. Not everyone likes heart quests. Or jumping puzzles. The same could be said about housing. Some people love it, some people don’t like it.
(and please don’t think I wanted to be mean with my answer…when I read it myself it sounds a little bit mean, but it’s not meant like that! I just don’t know how to explain or word it differently.)
i don’t think it’s rude :P I just don’t know what you would do with a house… do you invite people over to /dance in it? after you customize it… what’s the reason to go back to it?
in a previous MMO you could build yourself a ship and decorate it like crazy, but it had a very defined purpose as most endgame content was centered around driving your ship around to get everywhere. but i don’t see the purpose of a house that doesn’t move.
Which is why after the original decorating phase usually threads pop up in regards to more functionality. Be it crafting, display of your armour sets and weapons, etc.
Two things I could see depending on how it is done – an extra way-/travelpoint for free , some additional storage. Simplest version. Perhaps it could be used for town clothing.
what’s the point of housing? serious question.
It’s an extension of your character, think armour and weapon skins but bigger.
No one should feel insignificant here! I loved all the entries I’ve seen, very talented people here each in her/his own way.
Congratulations!
Those numbers do not contain direct sales of gems as well?
Is it possible the patch contained stuff related to the upcoming event?
I was thinking the same thing, would make sense instead of having one huge download.
Let me say first that I am not a guild leader and I am not currently in a guild (other than my own and a friends).
Why am I not looking for a guild – well two reasons, mainly because I like randomly hopping between my 7 character out of which I kinda play 5 mostly atm.
Secondly because I believe that the culture of a multi-guild environment has to be established first.
I see great potential in this, guilds being able to run multiple divisions etc – all of this really has already been mentioned.
But yes, right now I would not want to get these whispers “why are you not representing” and so on, being on a different character all together maybe. Sometimes you just want to come online and not have the feeling to “have to” do something. Since it’s not really possible to come online with a different character (short of buying a second account) and not everyone understands a “no thank you” I’ll have to wait until it may click with someone who thinks along the same lines.
To maybe elaborate this some more, I have 2 kids and a wife who does not really like this hobby, so there are compromises to be made every now and then – another reason why I don’t often run dungeons – I don’t like to commit and then not being able to stay or make other people wait for me.
Something to perhaps consider for the guild leaders who have trouble with this, make sure you understand what your member is doing. Is he/she maybe not on a character that he/she associates with your guild?
All right, tried in a funny way to acknowledge that there has been an increase but I guess that was not clear enough but rather seen as off topic
Anyways, I believe in general drop rates have been raised, my bags seem to fill up a lot faster, very noticeable with the dye and black lion chests.
I guess with the number of dye’s there are this is intended so that we may start sacrificing them to Zommoros in hope’s for the next tier.
Mh, this one in this thread on page 1?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Poster-at-Lion-s-Arch-Bank-Translated/first#post621190
Simply awesome!
I love the statue and I’m happy the “rumours” were wrong. It was one of those “wow look at that” moments for me first time I saw it, brought a big smile to my face.
I’m going to try not to write too much, so just bullet points:
Store
- separate skins from town clothing
- separate seasonal items, limited time offers
- separate skins by armor-type
- don’t sort alphabetically but by type first
(This will be more important once there are more items offered.)
Skins
- more variety
- would love to see a storage system like a wardrobe
Town Clothes
- make them available as skins without the special skills
- more matching items (themes), aviator cap but no jacket etc
- additional items for the themes – e.g. canes to go with top hat, whip or fiery
jumping ring to go with ringmaster’s 1 hat
- again some sort of separate storage/sharing system
1 only entered this to avoid the item name to be censored
Well … if there weren’t fast then there would have to be one hundred times as many. Now there is a train if you can imagine.
Not sure if there is a real lore appropriate reason.
The irony:
Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
Had to
Perfect madness if you ask me.

More I do not know, good luck!
Mesmer has some stealth options, only lvl 20 though so I can’t say too much. It was the first profession for me where switching weapons just clicked.
I love my guardian but from what you said it does not sound like it fits your bill, however, do read the sticky 101, Eveningstar has done a great job there.
Don’t have a Necromancer yet.
Good luck Artemis, have fun!
(…)
As things stand, as you can see from the number one complaint with this game, GW2’s progression is lacking.
a) To me this only shows the effect that other MMO’s had on the players
b) Next “big” stuff coming in a bit over 2 weeks
Which you probably won’t like since it likely will just be stuff to do and not to “progress”.
The PvP crowd should be happy right? Because they want a fair competitive environment. Like the examples above, no one gets an advantage other than experience just because he has done it for longer.
I believe a lot of this was anticipated. There will always be reactions like this when you dare change things. Eventually it will even out if the formula works.
I for one am happy that I don’t have to enter the never ending cycle of the next tier of gear, instead I can do whatever I feel like without this gnawing feeling that I’m missing out if I don’t do X now for 100 times or raise Y to Z for C.
The safe route would be to just buy a pair, they should be just over 1G.
You may want to have a look in “options” and turn on autoloot for the future.
Good luck and congrats on beating the tower!
It has a little bit for everyone and the scale is just great. The devils horns are nice and the flaming book is superb. The rest of the rewards are a tad lackluster in a sense that I feel like I have to buy them. I don’t see a problem in being a bit more generous in that regards, people will switch those things out anyways.
That aside, from the music, to all the animations and sound effects, skins, atmosphere … very well done.
Hopefully I’ll be able to finish the event with the things to come.
That one counts towards the achievement, right? My guess would be no.
