I Wish Vistas Were Not Needed for Zone Completion

Some of the jumping puzzles to get to the Vistas are a pain. Even so, I don’t want that requirement removed from map completion. Otherwise it would just be too easy.

Minipets would be the most popular...

It would be nice to have a mini pets section similar to the pet section that Rangers have.

Most Overplayed Class?

I see a lot of flame throwing engineers. I think I pay more attention to them because they stand out. Other than that, a lot of warriors and rangers.

What made you want to play a Sylvari?

in Sylvari

Rpgtabbycat.5869

I like them because of their childlike outlook on the world. They are curious about everything. And there really isn’t a race quite like them in any other game that I’ve played. Plus their expressions. If you’ve ever watched the female idle poses they are just too cute. Possibly the only thing cuter is watching an Asura roll on the floor laughing.

Is the sylvari race gay?

Rpgtabbycat.5869

Sylvari don’t bear children as they all come from the Pale Tree. From what I’ve read about them though, they don’t quite understand the other races attitudes towards gender. If they are attracted to someone, regardless of their gender, they are going to be with them. Maybe the best way to describe them would be bi-sexual.

Edited to add: This is a wonderful guide on Sylvari: http://guildwars2roleplay.wikispaces.com/A+Comprehensive+Guide+to+All+Things+Sylvari

Ranger's Pets not functioning right

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Rpgtabbycat.5869

I too have noticed that the patch did not fix the problem with F2. Sometimes my pet will use it and other times I have to press it a half dozen times before he thinks about using it and by then the mob is usually dead. Please fix this.

Issues with the guild system: please post here [MERGED]

Server: Tarnished Coast
Guild Name: Potentia Infinita (Pi)

I started a build queue for a Guild Stash yesterday and it’s missing from the building queue this morning. The influence has not been refunded and it still shows in the Upgrades History that I queued for it. But as I stated, it’s missing from the build queue.

I did submit an in game bug report on it. Looks like I’m not the only one with this problem. I’m hoping it gets fixed soon.

Edit: After logging out for a bit and then logging back in, the guild stash shows up in the build queue again. Is this just a graphical issue? Is it fixed?

Changes on the Ranger class in the last patch

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Rpgtabbycat.5869

Rpgtabbycat.5869

As a Ranger, I also support this change. I honestly never used the rez on my pet because it takes waaaaay to long. It’s much easier, more convenient and less of a hassle to other players to just swap out your pets.

While I understand your frustrations being an RP player, I am sure that you can use that vast creativity of yours to come up with a viable story as to why you must change out your pets instead of rezzing them. Perhaps the animal needs time to recover before rejoining the fray so he’s traded places with his litter-mate. That’s just one idea. =)

I would suggest voting with your feet, so to speak, and leaving those guilds. Enough players get annoyed with their antics and they will see a drop in guild members.

Toughness

Rpgtabbycat.5869

I’ve been told if you plan on doing dungeons, you should invest some in toughness. The way I’ve done it, personally, is to put the power stuff on my armor and weapon and then put the toughness stuff on trinkets, rings and amulet. Seems to work well. I’ve noticed I survive encounters a lot better that way.

Salvage Kits

Rpgtabbycat.5869

I used one kit that said you had a 40% chance of salvaging upgrades. Salvaged 6 greens and got one rune of something or other. So it was more like a 20% chance. Or maybe I just have bad luck with them.

Otherwise, I seriously doubt it.

So PvE endgame...

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Rpgtabbycat.5869

Rpgtabbycat.5869

It depends on how you define endgame
If you are looking for raids and tiered gear to hunt down with powerful stats, you won’t find that here.
If you are looking for challenging content based on skill, armor and weapons that look cool, pvp and fun puzzles… plus more stuff I can’t think of, this is your game.

Is there an easy, medium and hard stting for this game?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Rpgtabbycat.5869

Rpgtabbycat.5869

Nope. It’s an MMO. There’s only one setting.

Healing and Credit.

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Rpgtabbycat.5869

Rpgtabbycat.5869

Even as a water elementalist or engineer or what have you, you have some abilities that cause damage. But honestly you shouldn’t be trying to play the healer/ support role all the time. You need to have balance. Once you learn how to balance out your damage, support and control abilities, you’ll find you are getting more rewards.

There’s no healer, tank, dps paradigm in this game. Why should you get rewarded for being a healer?

The Scythe: a weapon request from a die-hard dervish

in Players Helping Players

I’m going to guess we will have to free Elona from Palawa Joko before we can get Dervishes as a playable profession again and with that the addition of the Scythes.

Possibly in a future expansion. =)

Leveling

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Rpgtabbycat.5869

Rpgtabbycat.5869

You get a really nice chunk of xp and coin for completing each area 100%. I’d recommend finishing out your map and also grab some gathering tools and do a bit of crafting if you need it.

If you are still under leveled, take your city’s asura gate and travel to Lion’s Arch. From Lion’s Arch you can then travel to the other major cities in the game. Then find a new starter zone and continue to earn experience. You’ll be leveled to scale in this new starter zone so the content won’t feel boring because you overpower it.

where can I find the easy, medium and hard settings?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Rpgtabbycat.5869

Rpgtabbycat.5869

Because it is an MMO, as others have said, there’s no difficulty setting like you would have with Skyrim. I’d suggest having her start out with one of the professions that are a bit easier to learn such as the Ranger, Warrior or Guardian. Save the rest of the professions for after she’s learned how the game plays.

I love my ranger and hunting down all the different pets you can get. Running around with two different bears that I can swap out makes it a lot easier.

As far as young kids playing the game, as long as they are supervised by an adult as they play the game, there shouldn’t be an issue.

IF it was the same as the one that we had in GW1 that would be fine.

IF you are talking about WoW’s dungeon finder, then my answer is I hope they never do add that.

You might also enjoy the elementalist, with their range of attunements you have the opportunity to do massive aoe damage, plus support with water and protection from earth attunements. Plus there’s also control with air.

Guardian is probably the closest you are going to get to a Paladin play style. Just remember there’s no threat mechanic and you can’t actually tank indefinitely. You also can’t heal like a Paladin but there is a nice elite that can let you feel like a healer for a short period of time.

Getting Rid of a Pet (Ranger)

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Rpgtabbycat.5869

Rpgtabbycat.5869

Part of the fun of being a Ranger is hunting down all those Juvenile tameable pets in the game. As others have said, you can swap the pets out and choose whichever ones you want to play with.

Edited to add: For those that don’t like pets, I’ve heard that warriors are a good alternative.

What keeps you playing?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Rpgtabbycat.5869

Rpgtabbycat.5869

Well here’s my plans:
1. 100% world map completion by level 80 (I hope).
2. Complete personal story once I hit 80 (I went off on a detour so it’s unfinished).
3. Complete the crafting professions.
4. Go through all the dungeons and complete them on both story and explorable mode (including all the variations). That right there will keep me busy quite a while.
5. Collect stuff needed for and craft exotic/legendary stuff.
6. Finally touch on WvWvW and PvP just so I can get those achievements.
7. Hunt down and complete jumping puzzles.
8. Finish collecting the rest of the hunter pets. I’m missing 9 and I might find them by the time I reach 80 but if not, I’ll go back and hunt down the rest of them.
9. Save up the King’s ransom in gold to purchase the Tier 3 Sylvari cultural medium armor.
10. See what achievements I’m missing and attempt to complete them.

And when I run out of all of that to do and can’t think of anything else, level an alt with a different profession and do it all over again.

End Game at 80?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Rpgtabbycat.5869

Rpgtabbycat.5869

The game is played a lot more like Skyrim and a lot less like WoW or Rift. If you are expecting a Rift or WoW endgame raid you are going to be disappointed. As others have said, it’s the journey, not the destination.

Is the chef crafting discipline good for *my* first character?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Rpgtabbycat.5869

Rpgtabbycat.5869

I just wanted to point out that even though you can only have 2 active professions at a time, you can actually learn all of the crafting professions. Switching them out isn’t too expensive and you retain all of the recipes that you learned. So if you wanted to, you could level chef and then swap it out for your other choice later on or vice versa. Since it doesn’t really matter, I’d say do whichever one you think is fun. =)

How to catch ranger's pets

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Rpgtabbycat.5869

Rpgtabbycat.5869

I agree it would be a huge help if tamed pet names were changed from Juvenile to Tamed once a Ranger has tamed them. I too have chased down other players pets in confusion. It does help that guild tags are added on to the pet name. If the player is in a guild we at least know to avoid attempting to tame those pets.
