Level cap really doesn’t take very long at all to reach. The xp required is pretty flat compared to other MMOs. After a while, you won’t even notice that you are gaining levels because it will fly by so fast.

No the game isn’t dying. There are plenty of people still playing.

Yes, I have a level 80 Sylvari Ranger. I play her all the time.

Yes the bugs are frustrating, yes broken dynamic events in Orr are extremely frustrating and yes the bug about rewards in the dungeons is also frustrating.

Many of us have decided to stick it out anyway. Mainly because GW2 has spoiled us in game play and we just can’t go back to the clunky combat, mob tagging and node stealing ways of other games.

Even if you can’t afford commander titles and siege weapons, just participating in WvW gets influence for your guild which they can then use to buy buffs and such for WvW.

I cringe every time I die because I know there will be a repair fee. But so far I’ve been making a tiny profit doing WvW.

Edited to add: I’m not so sure all those commanders paid for it themselves. If you had a guild of 100 people interested in doing WvW and everyone chipped in 1 gold, it wouldn’t be that big of a burden on any one person. And they would most likely choose the most competent leader to represent them and lead them on the battle field.

You know sometimes I’d like it if my Ranger could wear heavy armor like Warriors. In fact, let’s just let all the classes wear any armor type they want to. That way we can collect more of them. Also, I want banners to carry around, and my pets want to carry banners around in their mouths (or beaks or mandibles) too. The idea of having a mesmer teleport thing is awesome. Oh and I almost forgot, I want those healing/protection spells that guardians get.

The personal story is intended for everyone to be able to complete by themselves.

Dungeons, explorable in particular, are optional.

The best way to train newbies for the dungeons is to run them through with an experienced group and show them what needs to be done. Most players will pick things up fairly quickly and do just fine with organized team work.

retail store stopped getting copies of Guild Wars 2

Rpgtabbycat.5869

ArenaNet has already said in another thread that xfire statistics aren’t an accurate representation of actual game play for any game.

Also, I’m on Tarnished Coast. Over the last several days I’ve been running around the newbie zones harvesting and doing dynamic events. As usual, the server is quiet in the mornings and busy mid day through the night.

I do think that with free realm transfers the newest 2 servers are getting hit with population issues. People wait until their favorite server is no longer full and then jump ship. So it ends up looking like more of a problem than it is. The new medium pop servers end up being treated more like lobbies.

Once they end the free server transfers, you’ll see the server population on all the worlds begin to stabilize more. And that will also mean the medium pop servers will see a growth increase as the other servers become too full to play on.

Unless, of course, they raise the server pop caps again.

They are possibly getting karma from those events as well. A lot of events will give you karma (bronze reward) if you just happen to be passing by one as it is ending. If that’s the case, they could possibly be exploiting they system by essentially camping a DE spawn point.

Doubt it. You generally have to kill or do significant damage to at least one mob in the area in order to get credit. I roll up on DEs a little too late all the time and don’t get any credit for simply being in the area.

Sounds like a pretty lame thing to do anyway. Not a roleplayer myself but one would think that roleplay included reacting to what was happening in the world around you.

It does happen though. It’s a bug. I’ve run around the map gathering mats and have had a bronze medal pop up and I have no idea where it came from. It’s not that I purposely exploited it, it’s that the bug kicked in and I have no way to prevent it or undo it.

I didn’t mean to make my post sound accusatory. I just wanted to point out that if they were hanging out around the DE spawn point and did end up getting the rewards from it, intended or not, if you hang around long enough, it’s considered an exploit.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Even though you are scaled down at 80, when you go to a lower level starting zone you are stronger than you were the first time around. I definitely notice the difference. I can’t fend off 10 monsters but I can go toe to toe with 4 of them. When I was low level that would have killed me off. I am a Ranger.

Will We See the Return of Elite Missions in GW2?

Rpgtabbycat.5869

Are any plans to add in larger group instances similar to Fissure of Woe, Domain of Anguish, Underworld, Sorrow’s Furnace et al like we had in GW1?

I personally think it would be a great idea to include them as it would give level 80 characters more things to do. The old elite mission zones were all unlocked after completing the game content. So it would be my guess that one would have to finish out the Dungeons and personal story before this would become an unlocked feature. Perhaps even requiring that all explorable dungeon paths to be completed as well.

How exactly does diminishing returns with drops work?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Rpgtabbycat.5869

Rpgtabbycat.5869

ArenaNet has already said they won’t reveal how the DR system works to prevent people from trying to work around it.

Basically, don’t farm. Move around, kill different mobs, move around and do different dynamic events. You can move around to different zones and do stuff.

Example: Hanging out in a town that has a repeatable dynamic event will get you hit with diminishing returns.

Farming the same type of monster over and over and over is going to get you hit with diminishing returns.

Where did they say Cantha was going to be the next expansion?

It’s more or less been accepted as a fact since the tengu in the Dominion of Winds are refugees from Cantha, and killing Zhaitan will open trade with Cantha again. There’s just so much in game at the moment that already points at Cantha being next on the list that it would be terribly confusing if we suddenly go to Elona to deal with Palawa Joko.

Personally I’d rather deal with chinese nazi’s than a lich trying to run an oasis resort with undead slave labor.

Thanks for clarifying that. I got so excited there for a moment thinking there was a Developer post about this somewhere that I had missed. I agree it makes sense to go to Cantha (crossing my fingers for playable Tengu) first.

To answer the OP’s queston. No second thoughts from me. The game is almost exactly what I expected. I’m still having a blast and I definitely feel it was worth the money I spent for the game.

Solution for Black Lion Trading Post 1c over vendor Problem

in Suggestions

Posted by: Rpgtabbycat.5869

Rpgtabbycat.5869

This solution is intended to fix some of the problems with 1c over vendor items.

This would be for armor, weapons, trinkets and upgrades for armor and weapons. This may work for other items as well but the majority of the problem seems to reside with these items.

1. Allow players to post these items for no less than double the vendor price.
a. Vendor prices are relatively low for the majority of items.
b. This would prevent any new 1c over vendor items from being posted.
c. This would allow the current 1c over vendor items to be either reduced through attrition or bought out by players and re-listed at the newer prices.

2. This would prevent botters from using the BLTP as a convenient vendor.

Definition: by vendor price I am referring to the sale price you would receive if you sold that particular item to a vendor.

Why can’t the OP play both games? Unless I’m mistaken, at one point ArenaNet said they’d be honored if people chose to play their game alongside WoW.

OP you don’t have to choose one game over the other. If you want to play MoP, go ahead and buy it and play it. I will tell you that going by reviews, some people hate it and other people seem to just absolutely love it. That said, GW2 will still be waiting patiently for you to return to it once you get bored with MoP. Probably by then they will have fixed a lot of the bugs and problems that are driving you crazy right now.

I would welcome daily lockouts at this point

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Rpgtabbycat.5869

Rpgtabbycat.5869

I’d agree to this if:
1. It kicks in after you run all three paths of one dungeon. After you finish a path, it’s put on the timer and you can’t go back to that path until after you complete the full run and your lockout expires.
2. The 24 hour lockout only affects the dungeon that you just finished.
3. It doesn’t affect story mode.

I honestly think they’d see a lot less complaining on the forums if they did it that way.
