You can sometimes get 5 supply from killing an enemy dolyak, which is nice if you have no camps on a map. But it’s definitely not a viable source of supply for a party. It would be easier to simply hop to another borderland where you own a supply camp and then hop back.
I can definitely understand commander tags for the Cathedral events. Those do take a bit of coordination. Other than Orr, they really are not needed anywhere else outside of WvW.
I will continue to play this game. I plan to eventually do the Lost Shores content. The Ascended gear is not that much more powerful than exotic. It’s not as if they are introducing Tier Armor WoW style. Infusion and Agony were in GW1.
People will not leave over this. Why? Because this is still the best non-subscription game currently on the market.
They already explained the extra bonus to stats was because of the fact there are no Runes for the gear since the infusion slots to mitigate Agony take up the upgrade slot instead.
Just wanted to say as a member of PiNK that I totally love Pro Baddies. I can’t understand what you guys are saying most of the time but you all are awesome and I am happy to fight with you. <3
Portals put down a big pink circle before they even become active. So if you are watching for them, your group can take whoever comes out of it pretty quick. You just need to make sure you have someone watching for enemy portals.
Always check everything you capture for mesmers. If you don’t check/ sweep, don’t be surprised when it gets taken away.
I agree this needs to be changed as well. But perhaps this thread belongs in the suggestions forum?
TC doesn’t double team or form alliances with any of our enemies. That, however, does not prevent us from purposely losing a point if it works to our advantage.
I could see commanders in Orr getting groups together to capture the cathedrals. I’ve seen commanders running around in lowbie zones and wondered why. I guess you feel you need a mob on you to take down the swamp thing.
Their goal is to get more people into WvW, not fewer. Simply ending free server transfers all together would be a far more viable solution.
Sneaky mesmers can hide for quite some time, Deathdom.
The combination of TC and Yak’s bend seems to be making it clear that CD only has half the population of other servers. We get a full map on one borderland and in eternal but there’s not enough of us to be running anything on a third map while there are these idle zergs waiting to waypoint and rush over to stop camp captures.
So I’ve got two questions:
A: What do you do in your home borderland after you’ve pushed everyone out? Just sit around waiting and hoping that ten enemies come in for five minutes to try and take a camp?
B: Is there any way to get the PvE crowd to transfer off of this server so we can get even just 50 more people in for WvW?
Actually no. Once we clear our home borderlands, the majority of our group goes on to cap stuff in other borderlands. But we leave scouts behind. And there’s always players that come in to TC BL to do the jump puzzle. If stuff starts getting taken at some point we call out to our people in the other BL’s to come back and help retake stuff. Rinse and repeat.
We learned this a few matchups back from other servers who were far more organized on the defensive side than we were. I hope that helps you out some. I’ve really been enjoying this matchup. All of you have been really fun to fight against. Keep it up. ^-^
The reward that you get for winning WvW for that week are the world bonuses and maybe some bragging rights. WvW should really be about having fun. Depending on the matchups each week, all servers have the potential to eventually win their bracket. The important thing is that your team, as a whole, learns something new from each week and is able to continually improve upon themselves.
On TC, we play not for points, but to have fun.
WvW is quite possibly the most addictive thing you can do in this game.
This looks to be a great matchup. Everyone is having to fight hard for every inch of ground.
From what I’d heard, the HoD people had transferred to Blackgate. I haven’t heard of any of them coming here to TC.
I haven’t yet decided if I want to do all the work involved in obtaining the legendaries. I have seen both of the greatswords and they are amazing. I haven’t seen any of the other ones though. I am tempted to craft one of the greatswords for my mesmer.
Hopefully some of the people participating in the events will post videos of it on YouTube so that people who missed out, for whatever reason, can at least watch it.
The game is not perfect but I believe it will only get better over time. We have the new Lost Shores to look forward to in about a week. I’m very excited to see what that’s going to be.
I’d rather jump off a cliff (if possible) to die and deny the enemy badges. The only time I use Alt F4 is when my game client freezes for whatever reason.
Game is fun and very successful. I am an altaholic and working on getting my third character to level 80. I still haven’t done everything there is to do in this game. Darn WvW is so addictive I haven’t done all the dungeons yet.
Personally I’ve found GW2’s crafting to be far more interesting than WoW. Plus you get XP for doing it. I just enjoy discovering the new recipes. I believe the only crafting profession that really requires a lot of materials and expense is cooking.
There is a fairly steep difficulty curve once you hit level 20 onward. And then there’s Orr and the Risen.
To break things up a bit, you could always hop into WvWvW.
Removing the orbs has made the fights a lot more fun. And as a positive side effect people aren’t giving up playing just because they aren’t leading with points. It’s definitely removed the snowball effect.
Update: TC is down to owning about 5 things across all of the WvW maps. So if anyone wants to come into WvW and help reclaim stuff, it would be wonderful.
It must be our quiet time right now on TC. HoD has taken back their borderland and CD is about to take over Eternal. I guess it will give us more to do later on in the day. XD
I’m of the opinion that the only people who actually are upset the orbs are disabled are the ones who haven’t figured out how to play without the orb bonuses.
TC still doesn’t have coverage 24/7 so I think the mentality is to grab as much as you can while the zerg is still around. We don’t really have the merciless competitive attitude that the Tier1 and Tier 2 guilds have. Most of us want a fair fight and we want our opponents to keep on fighting. For us, it isn’t about winning or owning the entire map. It’s about how much fun we are having.
Now is our down time on TC so we have the outmanned buffs back up.
Thank you so much ArenaNet! WvW is 1000x more fun without the orb bonus.
I <3 you all!
Just needs to be dye-able. That way you can look at a map and go “Oh there’s Commander Fred’s orange icon. I need to follow him instead of Commander Bob’s yellow icon.”
Cute video. Love the old fashioned black and white movie style script.
I am very pleased with this. Hopefully it will lead to more balanced, more fun, WvW matches.
Thank you very much for listening to the community and taking action.

Probably for the same reason you don’t get to keep any of the upgrades that were done to the building by the previous occupants.
At one point you just have to get into the mentality of having fun and trying out crazy stuff when you know you are up against impossible odds. Just because you aren’t winning doesn’t mean you can’t have fun in WvW.
It does the same thing to Charr. Which is ok because charr look fine with the witches hat. It makes you wonder where the hair goes.
Banner warrior is about the best I’ve been able to do. I know that water ele’s, guardians and engi’s can all do support healing. But the healing you do for the group is pathetic compared to their own healing skills.
I think people have better luck creating a tank spec than they do attempting to create a heal spec in this game.
I also miss healing. There are times I wish they hadn’t removed it from the game although I understand their reasons for doing so.
I lean towards compromise on this one.
They already have speed boosters that increase your run speed by x amount for a certain amount of time. How hard would it be to create a speed booster that increased your run speed for x amount of time and gives you the appearance of riding a dolyak, for example, while out of combat?
Essentially it would just be the speed booster combined with the effects of a tonic while out of combat.

Yes Golems are expensive. However I do not feel the price should be lowered at all.
Orbs should simply be changed to be worth more points. By themselves not as valuable as a castle, but each one perhaps 1/3rd the value of a castle.
Outmanned buff should be useful. As it is, it’s completely useless except for letting you know you are greatly outnumbered. The buff should be to vitality, toughness and healing power.
I would agree with the above post saying run with your guild. This week I have to say the crazy sniping tactics our guild has done against SoR has been the most fun I’ve had during this matchup.
We have a mesmer in our guild that knows how to pull them out of the circle. I don’t know how he does it but he does it and kills them really fast too.
It would’ve been nice if we could’ve held off a bit better against SoR but…
I ended up having a lot of fun this week. There were a few times when we had only a small group and were able to hold off and sometimes beat huge zergs from SoR. I haven’t seen a queue for any of the BL’s I’ve been in most of the week. So our numbers definitely aren’t there.
Spawn camping… have you guys considered grouping up and portal bombing their siege equipment? Seems to me you should be able to with a few good mesmers.
I really did laugh out loud at “Norn on the cob”. I love punny jokes.
Well done.
You win all the internets for the day.
Looks like you guys will be going up against SoS and IoJ next matchup. Good luck to you guys. Those are both tough servers. They should keep you busy all next week.
They shouldn’t go to two week matches until after they have guesting and paid server transfers implemented.
Quaggans can actually damage alters and break them with the random lightning they generate. It’s always a good idea to try to stay on friendly terms with them.
I have actually seen an entire zerg of ET in their home borderlands. These rare endangered species sightings should be treasured.
We (PiNK) have been trying to work with them as best we can. No truce is easy as there will always be people on either sides taking pot shots at each other. About the best we can do is hit whatever areas they aren’t so that we have more chances to split up SoR’s forces.
I agree that the commander title is too easy to obtain. It should be purchased with Badges of Honor. Although I really don’t know how many would be the right amount. Perhaps 1000.
Anyway, after playing WvW, you figure out which commanders are worth following and which ones will only lead you to armor repair bills.
