Yesterday was so much fun. I was just running around in a small group of TC people flipping camps. Started setting down flame rams at the camps we flipped. Had to laugh so hard when a couple BG people just stood on a hill staring down at us. I’m sure they were thinking “WTH are they thinking putting a flame ram there?”
It’s decorative art. XD

Personally I love the game and I’m still having fun with it. I’ve more than gotten my monies worth out of this game. Do I think there’s room for improvement? Of course. Do I think this game has a lot of potential to be even better than it is now? Most definitely.
It seems that there are people who were either expecting another WoW clone and were disappointed, or they were expecting Guild Wars Part Two and were disappointed.
TC is using this as a learning opportunity. Although we are getting stomped by Blackgate, it’s given us the opportunity to watch how top tier guilds work in wvw and that in turn can only help us improve.
The truth is that such huge server imbalances are not fun for the servers on the losing end, resulting in players giving up and quitting WvW and possibly leaving the game altogether. The only thing that can really be done to help out is to either stop free transfers all together or put them on a 2 week or even 1 month timer. This whole 24 hour free transfer is ruining WvW.
The orb bonus is definitely OP. And the outmanned buff is completely useless.
I love Tarnished Coast but this is a matchup that should have never happened. I guess that means that Blackgate will have to get bored this week. There’s only so much stomping before people stop playing. I already know of a few who have stopped doing WvW because of this matchup.
I report every one I get. I still get them occasionally but it’s not a huge amount of them. At the most 1 every other day or so. I haven’t heard any goldsellers in chat in a few days so that’s a good sign.
I’ve never had a key drop for me. The only time I’ve gotten them was for map completion or story reward. One time I opened a chest with a key that opened a chest with another key that opened with a third key. That’s never happened again. I just stack them up in my bank. I’m not that worried about opening them. What you get inside isn’t that exciting. The tonics are fun but not worth paying actual money for. If I ever get rich with game currency I might spend it for gems for keys to open them. But other than that, they can just stack up in my bank.
I honestly think the outmanned buff is the one that should be changed. What you really need is a buff to toughness, vitality and maybe power. But magic find, XP and Karma??? That doesn’t exactly help you in a greatly uneven fight. It’s a useless buff that’s only purpose is to tell you there are about 10 enemies per 1 good guy.
I only skip the ones I have seen before while leveling my alt. Otherwise, I watch all the vistas and cutscenes etc on my main.
I would be happy if I could just see enemy nameplates. Then I’d at least know where they are. The odd thing about this is I don’t get the rendering problem all the time. I can play wvw for hours and see all the enemies and then suddenly stop seeing anyone at all. It’s really strange how it works or rather, doesn’t work.
The vault at the jumping puzzle for Tarnished Coast Borderlands has been bugged all week. I haven’t tried to do it but every day people ask if it’s bugged because they have both keys but can’t open the vault. I don’t know if this is the same vault you are talking about, but I"m guessing it is. Tarnished Coast is also red this week.
This has been a fun, if frustrating matchup. While playing against CD I’ve decided they must be channeling the risen in Orr. They totally fight with that mindset. It’s crazy to watch them, especially when you are outnumbered by them. However, the Coast does not give up. We might be beaten but we always rally in the end.
I agree with this. They should only be visible inside of WvW.
Also, when there is more than one commander in a wvw map, each icon should be a different color (except red, of course). That way you would be able to keep track of them much easier.
As long as the NPC doesn’t get killed too, most likely they will rez you.
The sad thing is, we did sweep for mesmers. He must have had a really good hiding place.
Unfortunately I don’t have screen captures of this. But our team had just captured Eskalion Hills (or whatever it’s called – EH) keep and then as a skeleton crew we set about setting up a few siege items. Suddenly inside was the red team, who quickly wiped us out and proceeded to knock down the gates for the rest of their team to come through and reclaim the keep.
Are mesmers supposed to be able to port into keeps like that without anyone knocking down walls or doors? Or is this an exploit?
This happened today on the Tarnished Coast/ Dragonbrand/ Crystal Desert battle.
Ah ok so all pets are essentially useless for dps. Maybe I should switch to warrior. Hmmm.
I love my ranger, but I too am starting to wonder if I should play something else for a while.
One thing that bugs me about pets is, if they are supposed to be such a big part of a Ranger’s DPS, why do they die so quickly? I have 300 points in beast mastery and the little traits and utility skills to add additional healing, plus another 200 points in toughness and mostly toughness gear yet I find unless I use a bear all the time, my pet is going to die within seconds of sending him in to fight something. Is this working as intended? Are most pets basically useless except for a small buff or cc they might provide and making a single f2 attack before biting the dust?
DR itself doesn’t really seem to hit hard until you hit level 80. At that point, for some reason, you can kill 20 mobs and only get 1 or 2 drops. So if you are leveling, you probably won’t notice it at all.
Hopefully Monday’s patch will nerf it.
It does seem odd that I made more gold in WvW than I did when playing in the PvE zones (and my map is at 93% and growing so I do play PvE too). However, I think with the patch coming on Monday we will hopefully see an increase is loot drops. I’m crossing my fingers.
I know what you mean about the time difference. I’m currently fighting against you guys on Tarnished Coast. But this is how I look at it:
If you dominated the map all the time you’d have fewer opportunities for epic battles, karma and loot. Seriously would you honestly want to dominate WvW 24 hours a day until it resets? You’d have totally nothing to do for a whole week and just be bored.
Anyway, I look forward to battling it out with you guys until the next reset!

I am proudly representing PiNK on Tarnished Coast server. In every other game I have ever played I have totally hated PvP. After running around with PiNK guildies, I have discovered how much fun and addictive WvW can be.
If anyone hasn’t tried WvW yet, I invite you to give it a shot. You might originally join the maps to finish out your map completion only to end up getting drawn into battle. Sometimes the most fun fights are the ones where you are outnumbered.
PiNK represent!
The only time my pet annoys me is when I’m doing the jumping puzzles or vista jumps and my pet is right there where I need to jump so I can’t see. Stow the pet, fall and take damage, and pet pops out again.
I think next time I might swap to one of the small birds and see if it works any better for jumping. Having an option to store your pet for a longer period of time (until you reactive it) might be nice. The argument against this, of course, is that part of your damage as a Ranger comes from your pet.
But I do agree, being able to have your pet stowed while in peaceful mode would be great.
I’d even be happy if they gave us a free portal to our home instance. It would at least get me to a major city and give me an excuse to actually visit my home instance outside of my story.
So I was watching that video comparing the FOV of 100 to 75. I must be the odd one here but the fish eye distortion from the 100 FoV was actually making me dizzy and nauseous and not the FoV 75.
As much as I force my human character to run all over the place in this game with barely a pause to catch her breath, it’d be really odd if she was obese.
My character gets more exercise than I do. O.o
hmm They could always change the speed booster consumables you get from chests or gem store to make it look like you are riding an animal of some type (Dolyaks maybe) when out of combat.
Speed Booster of the Dolyak – Double click to gain a buff which provides 15% speed increase for 1 hour and grants the illusion of riding a Dolyak when out of combat.
If they can create tonics which turn us into animals, I’m sure they could do this. =)
I think once they get the guesting feature going it will provide a workaround for this problem. Assuming they don’t fix the bugs that cause them first.
Well, he’s beside himself worried about Jenna all the time.
As it is now, it’s difficult to tell which enemy is alive and which ones are dead because their name doesn’t change. It would be much easier to keep track of who is alive and who is dead if their names were grayed out upon death.
I disagree. Personally I get bored silly if I’m running around stomping everything in my path. Where’s the challenge in that? This way, at least the lower zones are more entertaining to go through. I wouldn’t want them to change this at all.
Why would you be upset? The tokens are account bound so it makes sense to have the DR system kicks in across the board. This just prevents people from running the same path repeatedly with alternate characters. If you run a different path with each of your characters, you shouldn’t hit DR.
Strange. I’ve been playing since head start, my server is full and I’m part of a huge active guild.
But not every game is going to be for every person which is why there are so many games out there. Play whatever you want.
Just for you because you asked that this game be more like GW1, we will let you have:
1. The return of the death penalty. It still caps out at -60% for you. You can run to any of the major cities to have it removed.
2. You only get 8 skills on your bar now.
3. No in game mail for you. No Trading Post either. It wasn’t in GW1, so you can’t have them in GW2.
4. Also no rings, necklaces or trinkets of any kind. You can make everyone jealous though by wearing a cape. It has no stats. It’s just for looks.
5. Oh and your level cap will be stuck at level 20. Sadly it means you won’t get to unlock your elite at level 30 but since you only have 8 slots this shouldn’t be a problem for you.
6. You can no longer jump or swim. Again, not in GW1.
7. No crafting professions for you. You don’t get to have the deposit all collectables option on your bag. And your bags max out at one 5 slot belt pouch and two 10 slot bags. You can still get the equipment pack though.
8 No mystic forge. Sorry.
There’s probably other things I’ve forgotten. But I think by now you get my point.

I have a level 80 Ranger that I still have fun playing. I really enjoy doing WvW with my guildies even though I absolutely hate PvP. So how strange is that? Here is a game that has made pvp fun for someone who doesn’t like pvp.
GW2 will be just fine. They’ve already made more sales than projected, people are still playing and I still get pushed into overflow.
If I’m not mistaken, in another thread that was complaining about dungeon difficulty, Colin Johanson said that they didn’t want to nerf the dungeons too soon because he knew that eventually players would learn how to do them and find them much easier.
Looks like he was right. =)
Anet does want people to play their dungeons. When people complained there weren’t enough tokens being dropped, they increased the drop amount. Unfortunately it’s bugged and hopefully being patched Monday.
If they see enough of a drop off in participation in dungeons, they’ll do something about it. After all, they play the game too. If it wasn’t fun, why would they play it?
I’m guessing they will add in Polymock as part of one of the free content updates.
There was a thread somewhere that someone had posted showing statistics of loot drops with magic find vs without magic find. Apparently stacking magic find boosts your chances of getting any drops by quite a bit.
I wonder if it isn’t the DR that are affecting loot drops so much as it is that no one is running around with magic find gear. Not that that would have any effect on the current dungeon bug but just throwing that out there.
That said, I think I’m going to eventually craft myself a full set of magic find gear and see how this works out. That’s a far off future plan but one that I’m interested in testing out.

Dungeon exotic armors are not “better” stat wise than crafted exotics. They just look better. So you could actually craft all of your own gear as exotics and be on par stat wise with anyone running around in Dungeon armors. Karma exotics… same thing.
Some people are upset because GW2 is not GW1 part two.
When I’m running around the newbie zones and participate in a dynamic event I always get about 250 karma and about 1.5 silver. Yes it’s a little less than what you’d get in Orr but if you are running around those areas helping a friend or collecting crafting materials, it’s worth your time to stop and do them.
I’ve noticed the best Karma rewards seem to be in WvW. Sometimes I’ll get a little over 1k Karma for an event. That’s gotten me hooked into doing WvW.
DR was in GW1 and I imagine it will remain in GW2.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they modified it to be less harsh though given the amount of negative feedback they’ve gotten from it. Especially once they get a handle on all those gold sellers and bots running around.
They are already working on the bot problem.
Yeah DR is annoying but once you figure out how it works, it’s not so bad.
As others have pointed out, magic find increases how much stuff you get. I personally haven’t made a magic find set yet, but I will because some of the statistics I’ve seen on it are pretty impressive.
“The Brave Sir Robin” is Logan’s theme song.
Brave Sir Robin ran away
Bravely, ran away…away…
When danger reared its ugly head
He bravely turned his tail and fled
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out
Bravely talking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin
I also really like Logan. Poor guy always being picked on.
While I enjoy the fact that the achievement system is account wide and I wouldn’t want that to change, I can see where you are coming from with the dailies. I just think it’s done that way to prevent people from making alts just to farm daily rewards.
People also forget that Borderlands 2, Torchlight 2 and MoP all released in pretty quick succession after GW2. Eventually those people will get tired of those games (even MoP which, from what I hear, is already happening) and will be coming back. I’m already starting to see that trend on my own server.
