Everybody knows you can hit the gate and wall with splash damage from a cata at the same time if you aim it right. Well at least I hope everyone does.
Well for the most part unless you are in a low tier server you are never going to see an empty camp long enough to solo the camp. So most ppl don’t bother, it really does no good. These are not tricks they are common knowledge that is no longer useful. As far as siege goes.
It sounds to me like you play on an empty tier and have no idea what real competition is like. It’s easy to run into an empty bl and find a zerg and say huh nothing has changed.
I don’t think they stopped trying to improve they just stopped using useless tactics. Soloing a camp is not something you are going to use everyday. The servers in our tiere are constantly improving, we see it every week.
What you were seeing yesterday was nothing but ppl bag/wxp farming. It was new and novel. My guess after this week reset things will get back to normal. It is not all zerg v zerg, we regularly have a few small groups running around defending and taking camps and or scouting.

I have never had a problem with properly set AC’s not being able to defend. The only issue becomes when they can setup catas outside of range of ac’s. But then you just build a ballista.
I think one of the biggest issues is people do not know how to properly place siege.
I will try the pulling 1×1 out of a camp tonight, I am curious, I have never been able to get them far enough away where they don’t pull everyone else or you lose agro.

And about the Sieges in towers more like the players you play against don’t know how to deal with siege.
Since since catapult have MORE range than ballistas. (cata has 4000 ballista has 3000)
And as i’ve said before, AC or damage everywhere and get aoe or place out of aoe range but ppl close to the gate/wall can’t by hit.
How do you find a camp with no enemies around? lol It is rare for that to happen on my server. But good info, I will be trying to solo a lot more unupgraded camps now.
As far a AC’s, it is dependent on the tower/keep. There are towers that it is possible to place siege that cannot be hit by AoE and still hit those close to the wall if you know how to aim it. There are others where this is not possible and they are harder to defend. There are very few spots where you can place a cata outside of range of a ballista. Other than reset night it is also pretty rare to come across a tower/keep that is not upgraded.
You have always been able to do the PvE monthly for 10 laurels.
There are only 2 solutions for T8:
1) Fix the abyss that the past blowouts made, so the next server down here don’t stay forever even if it’s overdominating.
or
2) Give a incentive to ET and FC receive a population boon, that might make the Matchup more balanced.
Wouldn’t my solution be a third one? The solution is simple, any time a server wins 3 times in a row the same tier, he gets one week on the above tier to prove himself. If he does well, his score will be adjusted accordingly and he will have a chance of leaving. If he does not and his score does not beat the server he just knocked off, he’ll come back to his previous tier. This only makes sense by looking at how Glicko works.

So how does this decide on which of the 3 in the tier above drop down? I mean assuming one does not also lose (place 3rd) 3 times in a row?
Whoever is third on the accumulated Glicko score for that week. In other words, whoever would have been the red team for that week. This would provide enough mobility to have Glicko work quite well and update much faster.
This would only work for t8 and no one else. Every time we move down a tier we absolutely dominate. The only way that would change is if there were a migration to other servers. I understand you are trying to help t8 in a kittenty situation but ruining the other tiers for this is a bad idea.

Your servers are med pop, I doubt you all 3 combined even equal one very high server. But that is pure speculation.
Lol at this. I hope you guys get a ton of transfers and get out of t8 so we can listen to the other 2 servers cry that whoever from t7 moves down is dominating and Anet should fix it.

You can’t lure one mob out, once you attack any one of them they all come running. Not sure when this was changed but I soloed a camp the other day and I had to take them all on, I tried to lure one out, one came running alone as soon as I hit it they all came running.
Night capping didn’t occur to me, good call.
The catas don’t really make that big of a difference, a few well placed superior AC and ballista’s can hold off a zerg for a long time. I have had and run into towers/keeps with so many AC’s that your HP’s just drain in seconds, there are places where you can cover the entire ground with AC fire where there is no place for the invaders to go.

Your average player cannot solo a camp lol. I have never seekittenman group flip an entire map (where do you play – you have no opposition????)
I have successfully defended a tower/keep with 5-10 ppl numerous times agains full 50+man zergs, it’s called siege – use it.
If you go to your home bl, in citadel, they are both by the old vendors, there are 4 there now due south of the WP. In the other bl’s at your spawn the new vendors should be the same as the old.

P.S. You’re right about being level 80; I was checking on an alt first and the tabs just aren’t there.

All these people defending the Glicko system and saying they just need to reset points…. Might I bring up the one week where the matchup site had all servers at equal points? The lowest tier servers where one server DOMINATES the whole week ended up in tier 1, and ballanced matchups ended up being moved down a few, to several tiers. I think it goes without saying that, the poor low tier servers would end up getting stomped, and the point system would be borked for well over a month because of it.

Please do not screw up a lot of good fights in most other tiers for T8. They need to find another solution. I don’t think free transfers are going to do it.

I don’t do these things for reward I do them to help our server win. Why do you need rewards for this stuff. I regularly defend our main camp on reset night, sometimes for hours. I use my ele to block whenever I can. I escort dolyaks to get them to their destination so we can upgrade . Not sure why not getting a reward makes any difference. We did not get a reward on Monday but I still ran with the zerg that night.
For me nothing has changed. some nights I will defend and some nights I will run with the zerg.
All you have to do is set your heal as your auto attack, this is not some script it is an in game feature.
I never afk in a bl for more than a smoke break, but to make sure I do not get kicked I will set my heal as my auto attack (ctrl + mb2).
I have been seeing a large number of ppl afking in bl’s to troll I would guess. They are there for hours at spawn just casting their heal.
I’ve been trying to look at the skins but can’t find a vendor. Checked all vendors at wvw spawns, citadel and EB keep. Is it maybe a bug? If not—where are they? Thanks for any help—going blind trying to find.

Can’t recall all of them but there are like 6 or 7 tabs of just armor.
From the best to the worst in spvp wvw and pve combined:
Gold Medal : Ranger
Silver Medal: Necro
Bronze Medal: Guardian
Runners up: Mesmer, Thief, Engineer, Warrior
Wooden Spoon: Ele: Since double daggers got massively nerfed in to the ground.
How did D/D get nerfed???
They are just Clerics, Berserkers, Knights, Carrions and Rabid sets. Armor and weapons, but no amulets, rings or earrings though(unless I never found them or am too blonde to see them).
As an aside…Gift of Battle now costs 50s in addition to the 500 badges. outrage!
You can get invaders trinkets, not sure if you could before or not. Adding the silver to the gift did not make any sense to me lol, why make it more expensive.
They are all on the vendors at all spawn points as far as I could see. Most armor pieces cost about 120-200 badges and 70s – 1g.
They basically added almost all gear stats (Bers, Knights, rabid, carrion, etc.)
the last tab on the armor vendor also has skins they added (nothing new but easier to find all in one place), they range in price from about 5 badges to 20 badges each I think.

Not sure why people are posting their computer specs. It has nothing to do with skill lag. Skill lag is an ANet server problem, their servers cannot process all of the skills fast enough in large battles.
In no way would any graphics settings have anything to do with skill lag, so I do not know why anyone thought this would be any better with more WvW graphics options.
ANet needs to get better servers or a better way to process all the skills at once.
Okay… I just want to say that the Dungeon Armor designs are absolutely AMAZING in this game. TA especially is truly lovely and artistic. What I don’t get is why Anet can’t add more great skins like that for WvW? Is it really that hard to design a few more original armor sets for the game? A lot of my friends are graphic designers and they could dash off an epic armor set in 10 minutes. I’m sure it takes a lot longer to actually program and design the thing on a computer, but still. I can’t imagine it’s as hard as fixing culling of writing / programing the living story. I think it would have really upped player enthusiasm in general to add new skins. If they were worried about drawing attention away from the great dungeon sets, all they had to do was add a few more for the dungeons too, or make the WvW skins not AS spectacular as the dungeon sets. But to recycle the same old same old is really odd. Anet should understand what players want: More original, amazing skins for weapons and armor. Every single player wants that way more then ranks in WvW.
They would also have to make the skins available in PvE somehow too. If not it would ruin WvW forever. The JP’s would be full all the time with PvEers and WvWers would be in there griefing them. The tears would be delicious but no one would be able to get in to do some real work in WvW.
I would love to see new skins but not WvW exclusive.
I say meh, the bag farm last night was spectacular. Give it a few days and the newness will wear off and all will be back to normal.

In T2 we did nothing but bag farm last night. Catch the enemy at a chokepoint and kill kill kill. The newness will wear off and everything will go back to normal. There is definitely reasons to fight each other and that is bags. Everyone is excited that they can actually see everyone on the map now.
I have never seen it under the name before. Odd.
I tried a condition necro in WvW for a while and it is terrible. Most conditions are removed before they have a chance to do much damage and it takes too long to put them back on to be efficient. If there were a way to quickly put like a stack of 5 back on it would probably be more viable in WvW. The problem is you can pretty quickly put on 5+ stack of bleed then it is removed, all of your bleed spells are not on cd and all you can do is spam 1 on scepter to try and put some back on. Well by that time you are dead. PvE it is more viable if you are the only condition build in your party.
Condition builds are fun but with the 25 stack limit and how easy it is to remove conditions it is better to go pure damage. As a necro I will never have conditions on me for more than a few seconds. I just laugh it off.
Not sure how an engineer cond build works but I cant imagine it is much diff than necro’s.
Cant recall did it say soulbound or accountbound in the skins. either way I will bet a lot of trident skins and spear skins will start to fill ppl banks.
Skins in random boxes…AGAIN?! Feels like a slap in the face. If people are complaining boxes are useless…take the hint and just remove them?
You know, you could just wait to see how the drop chances are going to work for these new skins. If they’re anything like the Christmas skins, then they’ll be dropping like flies. Granted I do agree that them involving the regular Black Lion chests is a bit of a step backwards, seeing as we’ve been getting these sorts of things from separate chests.

What good are xp’s to level 80s? I’ve been using this buff to level alts, but the state of WvW gets worse every patch. At this point like many others I think I’m done with this game.
They spend so much time enhancing PvE, and sPvP, while making changes to WvW that make absolutely no sense.
What good are exp? I use my skill points to make superior siege all the time. WvW exp is invaluable.
Hopefully you will get credit for your WvW kills you already have. But this remains to be seen.

I don’t think this will boost t8 servers up any bit. They’re waaaaay behind in accumulative points.
Kaineng was able to pull off 200+ points a week sometimes. It would not take long for one of those servers to move along if they completely dominated in the same way.
The difference this time around is that there are no free transfers with no limit.
Once it hits high pop then I reckon it will shut down. Back when Kaineng was dominating people just hopped on the train.
This makes sense. If they shut it down when the server hit high pop, that will curb the possible mass migration. That could also really screw a guild wanting to move. What if it hits high just as half your guild gets in.

It is to give people who have been complaining about overflows and too many people a chance to move to a lower pop server where they won’t be hit with the constant overflows and large crowds.
I understand what they are meaning to do, I just think there is a good possibility that it could backfire in a bad way.

SOS doesn’t really have the population anymore to push a medium pop server up out of the lower ranks.
They are high pop and probably will still be competitive in t4. If most of their WvW guilds moved down to say HoD, we could possible see another KN situation.

Gambling = more money to them, and I don’t blame them. They’re skins, nothing more so you’re not forced to purchase them to make your char great.
Don’t complain when you gamble and lose, though.
My guess is you will see chests drop a lot more often now to encourage buying keys.
I heard talk on the reveal being placed on the end of stealth regardless of how stealth ended. It’s not in the patch notes so I take it that didn’t happen?

1) you have to considder the bigger picture. It’s not all about WvW, there’s also PvE and sPvP. Any server is at some sort of a disadvantage when it’s medium when you compare it to high or very high. The guesting has helped in this but it’s not like the temples in a low populated are open as many times as they are on higher populated servers. Opening transfers to Lower populated servers helps out those servers.
2) On another note, certain servers that are medium will now receive transfers from higher population this should spread out the population more and create more equality. However i do believe the lowest tier will receive less transfers so it might create a bigger gap between the lowest and second lowest but only in EU, it would probably be better for NA though.
Unless one or more unhappy servers that are high pop all rush to these lower servers this week and end up in the same situation as before with 2 different servers. We will see another kaining. This is a terrible idea. Not that there is anything wrong with KN, it’s just we could have another server get a lot of transfers and rush through the ranks like they did. This is not how to fix t8.

I think he means shooting ac through gates to damage both player and the ram. around 4-5 ACs can destroy a ram easy.
Hmmm, how would you defend if AC’s could not hit rams? Is there an exploit I am not aware of? I can think of a few spots that are probably not intended.

On a very rare occasion I get a bank or TP access. I have got 1 forge stone and never a salvage kit.
You are very unlucky but that is RNG.
The biggest problem is the Server cap limit, especially during the Primetime where every person holding a spot and sitting in JP is denying someone else who acutally wants to help the server.
i doubt anybody will have problems with anyone if there are no queues and u please to do what ever u feel like.
Building useless siege is highly debatable but i don’t think that’s a big problem though.

Just look at some of the pictures left in this thread. We have had entire maps siege locked by 1 or 2 ppl running around building flame rams.
