-and, sf stompings are comparable to dr, a server that rose about 3 tiers when they finally escaped t8.. suggesting that anything below dr is probably a better fit for a match in t8 than sfa lot of the misunderstanding probably stems from people seeing a servers rating and not possibly thinking it could be wrong. fc and et are 600 and by god they belong there and nowhere else until they get transfers. and by god sf beeeeeeeelongs at ~950. for sure.
that isnt true. sf belongs 350 above et and fc. but that is the limit of what glicko can measure with only 3 competitors in the subsystem. we cant tell if hod belongs 400 above fc and et, because they dont fight.

Gota love you Rik, you know just how to explain thing’s on the forums. I would love to see HOD come down. IMO FC and ET are a good fit for HOD and SF should be T7-T6. i H8 it when ppl say “Why do you wat them out anyone else wont be better” this isant true. SF had a revival after coming into T8 (Transferrs/PVE’rs getting back into WvW ect)
Not saying it will happen but IMO FC and ET will probly beat HOD (from what the forum populating is saying) but we wont find out till they come down and i want that oppertunity.

) it was aimed at players in higher tier’s that think they know the situation when they have never even had a good look into the GW2 Glicko system.
I know how the glicko system works, in my experience we have never moved down and done anything but dominate. This may not be the case for T8 as I can see how the system would make it tough for a sever to move out even when dominating. I still have my doubts about anything changing but that remains to be seen.
Either way the situation in T8 sux and I hope they find a way to fix it. I know how not fun it is to be up against a wall for weeks and weeks. For as long as we have been it T2 we can only hope to fight for second. We have just been finding ways to pull out good fights and try to keep in good spirits and make a good push for second place.

You are probably right, I was thinking more open field combat. I run into this combo now and then and they just steamroll everything in thier way. You would have the same problem getting through a gate with all GC’s though, they would melt too quick.
I would like to see what comes of this if you give it a try though. It never crossed my mind to try something like this.
I think your best bet is to go with 1/2 hammer warriors and 1/2 staff necros and maybe a few confusion mesmers. This setup is nearly unstoppable.

Why do you guys think that getting SF out and HoD in will make any difference? It will just be more of the same if not worse with a different server.
Arah p4 is the only dung that requires certain classes/builds. Everything else can be completed easily with any comp.
There were overflows on my server before the loot change. Many people guest to TC because there were always enough people to complete the event. It was mostly people from smaller servers that cannot get the turnout to complete the event. At least this was the jist I got from the guesters before the world boss loot change.
I’ve never played GW1 and I think the skins are awesome too, but I really hope they don’t allow anybody else to get these. It was a wonderful gesture to GW1 players and it would be ruined if they opened the door for just anybody to get them.

I never played GW1 and the skins are cool and I really want them but they should be for people that played GW1 and earned them. That was the point of them in the first place. It would ruin them for the people that put the time in GW1.
It seems to me that A-Net is trying to cut out or strong arm small guild folks to join a
big guild. This could be avoided by making it possible for guilds to be in a alliance.
In that way a group of small guilds could band together and get done what a large
guild could do.There is nothing stopping you from forming an alliance with other guilds on your server.
That is a very sad way to implement new guild features/content. Please give some thought to your answers instead of being obtuse.
Are your referring to my answer? There are numerous servers with guild alliances, we have an informal alliance with other guilds on our server. Maybe I do not understand what the OP is asking. Sorry if I misunderstood. OP made it sound as though this was not possible.

I know there are a lot more from the server as well, but I am running into a lot from others as well. I know this because we are always talking in map chat while we wait.
I have no problem with there being an overflow if it is just ppl from my server, I get a little irked when there are a bunch from other servers there and I am in the queue.
Guess we will have to see how this plays out. They can’t really add more places before the overflow because the lag is bad enough the way it is.

Its one chest per character, no matter what server. I just did Shadow Behemoth on 3 servers in a row on one character and got one chest. IF anyone says otherwise they’re mistaken or trolling^^.Ok, so I just found out there were only certain events that were allowing this multiple chest per char and it seems it has been fixed. I have seen nothing official about it but I have heard from some that it is no longer working. This is good news. I guess it remains to be seen whether this was the problem or whether it is guesting causing the overflows.
And here is the fix for it today.
General
•Fixed a bug with the chests that spawn for The Claw of Jormag, The Fire Elemental, and the Volcano Destroyer Boss. They are lootable once a day per character as intended.
•Fixed a bug where Daily Rewards were sometimes not being granted after completing five daily achievements.
•Fixed a recently introduced performance issue.
•Fixed various crash bugs
I took numerous camps with 3 of us yesterday. You just have to wait for the buff to wear off. I really think this gives more strategy to WvW than just running a small group to take camps. You actually have to pay attention to when they were flipped so you don’t go to take a camp with the supervisor buff still on.

If there was a fix, it must’ve been at the “guild bounty bug fix patch”. It certainly didn’t work after that.

Good point. This would absolutely happen.
I’m not sure if Anet could even do it, but perhaps put a cap on the amount of “guests” that can be on a particular server at one time. Or maybe, to reduce the overflow problem, guests are only allowed in a certain map until it is 75% full? Anyway, just spit ballin’ here.
Or give native players to the server first dibbs. If there is a guester then they get bumped to the overflow when someone from the server arrives.

Wrong, I did this yesterday. And I know of many others that were also doing this yesterday.
So much lag at events that a few times I wasn’t able to get skills to activate and didn’t cause enough damage to even get a chest reward and not being able to do event again because of the chest nerf not letting you get a chest because of the once a day dictation.
I have not been able to activate a skill at a world event since the patch, if I am lucky enough to get there and not be in the overflow.
As someone who pretty much ‘exploits’ guesting to maximum benefit, I think guesting was probably the worst thing you could do to remove server community and loyalty.
I don’t know if I would call it exploiting. It is a failure on Anet’s part to think ahead, and with the lack of a PTS to sort this stuff out before it is made live.
The snowflake jewelery would like to have a word with you. They called that an exploit even thought it was their failed testing that lead to bans.

Well so far the thing every single thread about this issue have in common is that the people complaining about it are all on TC, and to a lesser extent JQ.
Seems likely it’s just an issue with TC being one of the highest pop, if not the highest pop server in NA for various reasons.
I havent been on the forums for a few days so I didnt see any other threads about this on the first page. This is just frustrating and maybe it is our own fault but they really need to fix the server juming exploit, maybe that will fix this a bit.

The problem here is that OP is on Tarnished Coast, which some well-meaning but short sighted players decided to campaign for as “the unofficial Orr server”.. and then “the unofficial PVE server”…. adding to TC’s already larger population due to it also being the RP server AND a high tiered WvW server.
So the issue isn’t a fundamental flaw with guesting, it’s just too many players guesting on that specific server.

It’s 1 chest per character per day. It doesn’t matter if you’re in overflow or go to a different server.

Yeah, for me the chest never shows up if you do the same DE twice with the same charater. Its 1 Chest per day per character. Maybe its bugging for some people or they’re mistaken. Guess I’ll go double check~
You can’t get another one on the same server but if you guest to another one you can get another chest.
Most of the problem will go away when they ban the guesting exploiters.

Yeah, it seems that changing the system to one chest per account, rather than per character, would solve this much more effectively, and without having to nerf a really useful system.
If you can guest to get another chest on the same character this suggestion would have absolutely the opposite effect of what this thread is complaining about (more guesting).

I just don’t see how making the rewards account bound would do that. Right now I have no incentive to guest for another chest because there are plenty of events and I have more than one character. The fact that people are guesting right now to do it anyway should tell you that removing the option to do it on the same world with multiple characters would encourage more guesting. I don’t see what I’m missing…

It is near impossible to do a major world boss event unless you get there an hour early. There are too many people from other servers there and I end up in the overflow unable to complete the event. I should not have to stand and wait at a dragon for an hour to save my spot.
How do you know that these people are from other severs? Do they tell you in chat or something? Since you can’t get a chest more than once a day per character, people can’t farm the event using the same character so what incentive is there for people to go to different servers to do it?
Really, I have seen this same complaint on other threads and I’m curious how you would know.
you can go to another server on the same char and get another chest. I assume this is not intended. I know ppl that have gone to another server right after completing an event on my server and got the chest again. Right after the event ends on my server I see chat light up with “xxx up in xxx server hurry if you want to get there”
The problem is server jumping from event to event to farm now.

What server are you on? Because I recently joined Jade Quarry and whenever there is massive lag at a dragon everyone and my guild mates complain about it and say it’s never happened like this before. The blame is being put on guesting.
It is guesting because I am constantly seeing in chat “xxx up in xxx server” right after the event finishes on my server (Which I am usually stuck in the overflow for if I did not get there an hour before spawn). This needs to be fixed.
Ya I know what is going on and it may be different on other servers but I know for a fact that there are a huge number from other servers that are at all of the events. I also know that a lot of ppl are server jumping to be able to do them more than once a day.
This really needs to be fixed. I don’t care if ppl do this but people that are native to the server should get first dibbs and everyone else can go in the overflow.

You’ve missed out;
- Reduced the number of maximum of stacks of Retaliation allowed to five (was 25). Duration still stacks.
This is a PvE change but affects WvW alot as stacking on a Righteous Indignation Supervisor and spamming light fields + blast finishers will now take 80% longer to kill them.
With the change to Righteous Indignation coupled with the change to Retaliation (Supervisor will only get hit by 5 Retaliations instead of 25 per Supervisor attack) supply camp raiding @ 4 mins and below will be the new meta for PPT as they will be almost impossible to take back before PPT reset.
•Using stealth no longer resets NPC aggression tables.
Does this mean no more hiding thieves it towers/keeps to res mesmers.
That simply means monsters previously aggro’d onto a Thief will re-engage the Thief as soon as he leaves stealth assuming his aggression score is higher then that of the monsters temporary new target (the one it switched too when the Thief stealthed)
Not almost impossible, it will be impossible. You can start at 4:59 and run and get as many camps as possible and they cannot be taken back before the tick. A good tactic would be to send small groups to all the camps at 5:00 and cap them all and you are guarantted them for the tick.
Ah, ok. So they lose aggro while stealed but when the ycome out the NPC’s will come after them again.

•Mesmer Portals can no longer be interacted with when there is an obstruction between them and the player.
I’m not quite sure what that means. If that means no more portalling into keeps then we can safely say mesmer sweeps are done. I guess I need more clarification on what this means. I’ll add it to the main post though.
I think there was an exploit for a mesmer to put down a portal on a keep/tower door and use it to get through the door.
When the bounties are killed, they respawn instantly (somewhere else).
So you only get 15 minutes to do this and everytime the NPC is killed it respawns somewhere else. So you could possibly be running all over looking for a live one. On a busy server, what if random ppl on the map kill it just as you find it? It respawn somewhere else and you have to start looking again, then another guild finds it and kills it and it spawns somewhere else.
Guess we will just have to see how this pans out. Sounds like fun though.
I have 100% map completion already, thanks. I also am a lil’ proud to say I have done all the jumping puzzles. But I don’t want to grind things in PvE. I have lil’ patience for being inside Fractals or dungeons. I feel pretty done with that part.
I was referring to the OP with my 100% completion comment.
The picture is 5 gold + 12 commendations. You only get guild commendations through doin the guild missions in open world PvE. What? My WvW guild is going to have to start doing an hour of PvE every day? I’m going to have to join a PvE guild every day for an hour? I don’t understand, this just highlights how out of whack the rewards between PvE players and WvW players are.
Wow, I didn’t even notice that, thanks for pointing that out to me. That changes things a bit, I guess it will revolve around how time consuming and difficult some of these events will be whether a WvW guild will be able to keep up.
It sounds like you only get 15 minutes to complete the bounty missions, I don’t think that is too bad.

The really should just add a WvW daily/monthly. That way you don’t have PvE players in WvW trying to complete thier daily and WvW players don’t have to PvE to do thiers.
It could award badges and karma.
I know what your are saying but having more skills would just lead to min/maxing and there would be a lot of skills that would be useless just like in most games. You would have the 5 best skills and that is what would be used so you would still get bored with the same 5.
That’s not necessarily true. As long as the 10 abilities per weapon are diverse enough, and all fill different roles (damage, support, CC, hybrids, etc), then the system would be about playstyle choices, not min/maxxing.
Also, your statement could be applied to the current weapon sets. If there were clearly 5 best abilities (associated with certain weapons), then players would only ever use those weapons for their class. But there is currently a lot of diversity in the weapon choices, and people are constantly trying new combinations. There are a few outliers, but as long as weapon abilities aren’t just duplicates of each other with 1 improved characteristic, people will use them to fit their custom roles.
I agree it would be great that way, if they could build diversity without any outliers. But I got to say I have yet to see a game company perfectly balance all skills so it could be about playstyle and not min/max.
I just really like this game the way it is “about playstyle” and would hate to see it become a min/max mess.
It doesnt take long to run around and open up the maps and WP’s. I don’t really think you actually have to have world completion.
If you get a big group together you can run through a map in a few mins each. I dont PvE much anymore but after I hit 80 I just run around for an hour and open most of the world up so if I do PvE I can WP to where everyone is.
All we can hope for is massive WvWstuff in the March update. I honestly think if it is not huge this game may start to fail.

I think it is too hard for gfame companies to balance a large nuber of skills and that is why you end up with certain skills that work better than others.

It depends on what you want for your guild. If you want to keep it small you probably don’t need a website, but you will defenitely want a VoIP option. I don’t think I have been in a guild in any game in the last 5 years that did not have mumble/TS/Vent.
I can see this turning into a "You must always rep “guild name here” or get kicked so guilds can get enogh influence to to the missions. I don’t think this will be a problem for my guild as it seems we always have a lot of influence built up but some smaller guilds may suffer, especially guilds that only have a few members and some of the members are in bigger guilds as well. They will end up repping the bigger guilds to get into the missions.
