Dishonorable in PvE

they get 1 debuf. nothing happens to them. they would need 4 more to even notice it. on the 4th and 5th there might even be a warning. could even include a thing where you can’t rejoin a party with that player for x number of days unless they invite you. it would take a LOT of trolls to actually do anything here, as that player would have to be trolled by 4 others within 3 days to have anything happen. If there are even more trolls, this player could just ask the other 2 players in the party to kick the jerk.
I imagine the ban from joining parties once you do get 5 would only apply to the next party, not the current party they are in.

btw: dishonorable has already been in competitive pvp for over a year. you could go troll people there if you want to prove your point.
just like how there are legitimate reasons to leave a pvp game, there are legitimate reasons to kick someone. the point is to punish those who abuse it.

Then they’ll join the group five times. Or however many times it takes to make themselves immune from being kicked.

Proposal: Anti-Stacking Debuf

Nothing that is going to encourage people to scream at each other to “get away from me” will ever, nor should ever, be introduced.

That’s why I used the squad in the proposal.

The commander squad (the 40 that where there first) is not harmed by this debuffed, and therefore doesn’t need to scream. And the ones that appear later, can decide on their own if they want to stay with the debuff, or better build a second zerg that runs somewhere else.

It won’t generate two zergs. It will generate two squads that run together. And a number of guilds that are primarily wvw are larger than 40 members. Are they forced to not play together?

AFKers waiting for the final shot

Seera.5916

Not sure how they will fix this but I do know that the system they were using before the magic find change was flawed in that it used a system of DPS to guage rewards instead of participation. I think that they should probably add other methods to manage this like in events where there’s a big boss they could add a scaling reward for those who actually resurrect people who are downed, those who are hurt they could add a healing chart and those who are attacking they could add an algorithm to measure if they’d participated early sometime in the middle and the end to make sure people aren’t just end tagging.

But that punishes honest players who arrive late who aren’t just doing it to be leechers.

I wouldn’t say no to them getting a reduced reward if they don’t participate in all parts, but not an all or nothing proposition.

It will also hurt people.trying to get more people for an event with a timer but not enough dps. What health is he at? 50%? Sorry, I won’t get any reward so I’ll pass since it would be no reward for my time, I’d rather go do temple defense again, as I’ll get a reward.

Account bound Birthday Blaster please

Seera.5916

Birthday gifts are given to each character on the year of their creation date. Meaning every character on your account will eventually get one. Birthday gifts should not be account bound.

Learn to be patient.

This is a silly argument. None of the mini pets in gw1 were soul, or even account bound. In gw2, I can use the scrolls and boosters they give to level alts. I can even wear my “Veteran” title on new characters, so why can’t I use the blaster on them? The blaster is the only one that gives a permanent in-game advantage (free food with karma/mf/exp boost), so it should be account bound.

Things that go in the collectors tab are account bound or not bound at all. Monikers go to the collectors tab. It makes zero sense to give 1-20 scrolls to characters who are level 80, so they are account bound so you can move them to a newly created character. Titles are account bound due to the system used.

There is no game required reason for the blaster to be account bound, so since it’s related to character birthday, it’s soulbound.

People do this in every event. I wish there was a way for people to not be able to do this. People AFK till Tequatl or Claw of Jormag is almost dead then they’ll go up and get a few hits on before the boss dies and get bronze for the event but still get 100% of the loot.

Not fun.

But how do you distinguish between leechers and a player who got to the map late and ran as fast as he could and only got in a few attacks? Like those trying to do multiple bosses in a short time. Or logged into the game after the boss spawned?

It’s unfair to punish those players for the behavior of the leechers.

Well, the experience scrolls are for new characters and disappear once you use them.

If they were soulbound, it would defeat the purpose as they will only take a character to level 20. It won’t add 20 levels to a level 45 character. It will take a level 19 character to level 20.

Friend's account was hacked?

in Account & Technical Support

Seera.5916

Yes, I stated he has the CD-key, my rant is why is support not willing to even work with him? This support is by far the worst I’ve ever see in any game. No verification process, no reasoning behind anything.

The hacker may have access to the serial key if he has access to your friend’s email. A lot of times hacks to Guild Wars 2 accounts coincide with hacks to the associated email address. If your friend bought the game digitally, his receipt and his serial number are likely still in his email’s inbox or in some folder in his email.

Specific details about the account will definitely help, especially if they are ones that the hacker would not have access to.

If your friend and the hacker are both able to provide the same evidence, then who should ANet trust? They don’t know your friend. They don’t know the hacker. For all ANet knows the hacker is the real owner. So ANet puts the account on a banned status and locks down the support offered until one of the two can provide enough evidence to prove they are the true owner.

Make All Dungeons Open World

This is the GW2 playerbase we’re talking about:

If they can zerg it, they will.

Go try to do some actual, engaging PvP in EotM and see how well that works out for you. Huge PvP map, lots to do, many possibilities for large tactical fights. What happens there? Karma train. Alt leveling express. Dragonite grind.

If they put a string of bosses in open world that give any kind of decent reward, the zerg will come and negate any/all difficulty that the boss may have. We have world bosses, as well as various champs/vets scattered throughout the maps. Your plan would just turn dungeons into more of the same.

Not trying to come off as rude, I just really can’t see how this would improve anything. We want new dungeons because we want more challenging instanced group content — A safe-haven from the zergs, if you will.

This.

They’ll go:

“Hey, we’re doing CoE tonight and we’re using the NE entrance by X POI. We’re going in the usual order of bosses to ensure maximum rewards for everyone.”

And well, what happened the last time a map had a train that went from one boss to the next? I seem to recall numerous threads about ending that train…

The problem I see with crafting precursors

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Seera.5916

I got a better idea – Legendaries for one-time possible events. Why not commemorate things with a special item? Taking down Mordremoth the first time gives you a particular Legendary weapon, choose which one you want out of a set of like-themed skins. “Mordrem Tendril Staff” anyone? “This still-squirming vine was trimmed from the Elder Dragon Mordremoth during a heated battle.”

They tried one time only events. It turned into a massive failure.

Everyone and their mother got online for it at the same time (excepting those that couldn’t due to work and other such obligations).

So many were on at the same time and throwing their most powerful skills at the enemy that there was massive lag and numerous people got disconnected. Those that got disconnected towards the end were unable to get any of the rewards despite having participated for most of the event.

And some people got precursors from the event. It was a low chance.

Now imagine what the uproar would have been had a precursor been guaranteed. Now imagine if it had been free choice of legendary.

No, ANet needs to continue to heed the lesson from that living story update. No more one time only events. Especially if they give anything good from it as a reward that won’t be available afterward or won’t have as high a chance of being dropped.

Then we players choose one from that list.

But above all, the topic needs to be specific. Very specific. If you allow players to choose freely, we could end up with a topic that is way too broad.

Character Progression is too broad. Horizontal Progression is too broad. Vertical Progression is too broad. Gear progression is specific. Trait progression is specific.

I never said to any of you, who are getting upset, that if you like the living story, etc, then this game isn’t for you.

Yes, you did. You may not have meant it to come off that way, but it did.

This is the part that got those who disagree with you in an uproar:

“Anyway im giving up on this game because Anet really has pushed me and many other parts of the community away for only one part of the game. Interviews gave this away and if you all want to be honest with yourself, then you should do the same.

You all means everyone, not most, not some. Of course I want to be honest with myself, but I’m overall pleased with the game. Your statement to me says that you think I’m still being dishonest with myself. That I’m lying to myself.

No I meant the people im referring to like I did throughout the entire post. WvW, sPvP, dungeons/fractals community, etc. People who want more than the living story.

This is more of a post where people who like the living story get extremely upset. Its that or people who still want to like guild wars 2 even though it will never probably never have any significant expansion like content as long as the living story is around.

Again, no need to have heated arguments about this. Im speaking to those who of the other communites of the game who tries believe they will get significant content updates. To those of you who know who you are, its been a good run but for now its probably time to find anothe rgame.

To those of you who do WvW/sPvP. There is a large amount of us going to archeage to specific servers. GvG guilds included.

No hard feelings here, but for future posts should you make them, you may want to be a little bit more careful with how well you define “you”. To avoid the topic turning into a debate on it over the true idea of the post.

As you RP with people, add them to your friends list and ask them to add you since you’re not currently on TC. See if you can find an RP oriented guild so that you have a shot of getting onto a shard with other RP’ers.

Edit2 answer: Yes, it will cost gems unless you delete all of your characters. Once you pick a server you will have to wait 7 days to transfer again and not even support can bypass.

You can probably also try guesting to TC once you pick a home world. I don’t think they removed that function when they implemented the megaserver. That may put you on a list of people considered as part of TC when choosing what shard to put you on if there is more than one.

If Play how I want was solo content only, then welcome to the game where hardly anyone does group content for the sake of doing group content. It would even kill the ability to solo the dungeon most likely.

Because no one wants to play how someone else wants them to. No one. So it becomes about the reward only. And well, rewards in this game aren’t that great.

When Group A demands a player change to X gear, if the player changes, it’s because they want to. They decide they don’t want to find another group or they realize that the group has a valid point on his build.

But if you change group content to require certain builds, then there will be people who won’t be able to play how they want with who they want. If 5 friends play together who enjoy the zerker build and enjoy doing dungeons together enter your game, at least one of them would have to change how they play to do the content.

Whereas right now, a group of 5 clerics can do any dungeon. It will take them longer than a group of 5 zerkers, but they can do the dungeon. It’s just a matter of finding others who have the same desire.

Speedrunners are play how I want people. They just want to play in a different way than you. And that is not a problem.

Yea, go talk to the dungeon running groups. They have discovered a lot about aggro since they have more control over variables. If you are being killed on your way to a vista, bring some friends/guildies. They probably have a character that could do some mapping as well. And if you’re on a low tier, running around with a group will make you a fairly powerful force to avoid. Also, WvW mapping is best done in a 3 steps, mapping each color’s main areas at a time.

I play solo. I have been playing for almost 2 yrs, solo. I have no friends nor guild mates. I should not be forced to have friends or guild mates in order to complete something in the game such as this exploratory achievement.

Yes, it’s an MMO; don’t care, don’t like people. Don’t like PvPers especially. Just let me play the way I want.

I never had to have any help when I got my WvW completion. Never asked. I only went with a zerg once because they happened to be headed to an objective I needed. So I went with them without asking or saying anything. Helped the best I could and went on my way after making sure they weren’t headed to another location I needed.

It can be done solo. So you can play the way you want. Just don’t expect the same results in the same time frame as someone who plays differently. Someone not afraid to ask for help getting a POI is going to finish WvW faster than those of us who would rather play alone. I’m also one of those I’d rather play alone types who you’d think wouldn’t play or enjoy MMO’s.

My suggestion to make both sides happy.

You currently get 2 Gifts of Exploration for Map Completion. Split Map Completion so there is now “Map Completion: Tyria” and “Map Completion: The Mists”. Completing map exploration for PvE gets you 1 Gift of Exploration. Completing map exploration for WvW gets you another 1 Gift of Exploration.

Problem solved. Those who don’t want to WvW for their Legendary don’t have to do so. Those who don’t want to PvE for their Legendary can stick to WvW/PvP.

I really like your suggestion! That would be amazing if it was implemented. Doing PvE map completion is SOOOOO boring. Like so boring. I have probably fallen asleep twice completing hearts on a map. WvW, while having only 4 maps can be challenging if you are on a server that doesn’t flip stuff consistently. Your suggestion would pacify a ton of people for gifts of exploration.

But conversely, what about those servers who do flip stuff consistently? How many Gifts can they easily rack up? ANet has to consider both sides of the spectrum.

4 maps vs how many maps?

Legendary should require participation in all aspects of the game in which you can take a legendary to. You can take a legendary to WvW. Therefore WvW should be required to get a legendary. Yes, I think legendary weapons should never have been able to be sold on the TP.

However, what they should do is add 2 more map completion achievements. A pure PvE one and a pure WvW one. The current one should be turned into an achievement like the achievements that track meta progression in LS updates. The current update would still hand out the title and the gifts. But those going purely for the 100% map completion don’t wind up with 98% map completion if they despise WvW. And those who solely WvW can have their own 100% achievement as well.

Here’s what you do:

Every day you get on where you have more than an hour to play, hop into WvW and grab everything that you need that currently own that you don’t already have. Up to 15 minutes. Whichever comes first. You may skip days where you own nothing that you didn’t already have.

If you do not have Stone Mist Castle, every so often check to see if your side has it. If it does. Get it. Even if it’s well past the first 15 minutes. It flips fairly often. And most people aren’t super willing to just drop everything and take it. It takes work to get SMC.

I typically tried to aim for a 1% increase in one of the maps each day I logged in when I last did it. I’m also like you and did not find WvW very fun.

But I’m all for the last thing of any actual WvW play remaining as part of getting a legendary. Badges of Honor come in Achievement Point chests well past the number required for the Gift of Battle. Even once they put back in the rank requirement you can get that via liquid WXP. Which can be bought with laurels + badges of honor.

[Suggestion] Lazy players at World boss

No. It hurts people who log in late. Especially now that several of the larger ones are on set timers and only happen a few times every day instead of several times. Players shouldn’t get less reward for not doing the pre-events. That will prevent people from risking missing the pre of another event to help out your event.

What should happen is the pre events should get a boost in their reward. That way players get more if they do the pre. But don’t experience a drop in rewards if they don’t do the pres.

And then fix the scaling of the pre events to handle higher numbers. Pre-events shouldn’t take a huge amount of time more if a ton of people show up. One of Shatterer’s pre’s takes longer if more than a handful are doing it.

People already complain of everything that’s worth doing being nerfed to the ground in terms of rewards. This would just be yet another nerf.

Shadow Behemoths’ problem is that in the past before the changes those who did the pre-events if they weren’t equipped with enough speed boosts or were too slow would miss the main event. Because of how far away the pre’s were from the swamp. So the old players haven’t all gotten adjusted to that’s different now.

If it can be bought via the gold to gems and is not tied behind having to pay money, then as long as the cost isn’t so high that it makes it impossible to get the gold in that time frame I don’t have a huge issue with it. And as long as the sub doesn’t come.with not needing keys to open chests. Too many rare event items are in the chests. And it’ s unfair to remove the chests already earned. Since keys are so rare of a drop.

You do realize that groups of all zerker gear sets do have to cooperate or things can go bad quickly?

They stack, which means they have to pick a spot to stack. They like pushing things into corners, most rooms have more than one corner so a corner has to be picked. Not everyone needs to be the might stacker so someone may have to make some adjustments to better suit the group…

Someone goes down because they don’t watch their health bar or didn’t catch the attack animation in time to dodge or put up a skill, there goes 1/5 of the DPS. 2/5 while he’s being rezzed and he has a higher chance of being killed due to aggro mechanics. Not to mention the person rezzing does as well since they can’t heal or dodge or use a blocking skill while rezzing. And if it was a skill he forgot to pull up, it could be more than one person having gone down if it was a spell that would affect the group.

Zerkers are glass cannons typically. Meaning they hit hard, but they aren’t that great at taking hits. Meaning if they aren’t careful, they’re dead. Especially if they are a squishier class like the Elementalist.

So to claim that zerker killed cooperation is just silly.

I am not sure that I believe that compensation of any sort is owed in a situation of this sort. Player A bought item(s) X. Item X continues to function. Player A retains possession of item X.

If player A still has what he paid for then why is he somehow being mistreated by not receiving further compensation ?

If I buy a computer and a year later it goes on sale am I owed a refund, upgrade, or some other form of recompense ?

As to some people reportedly receiving some form of compensation and others not…

Every commercial transaction between a player and Anet is between that player and Anet on a case by case basis. We as players are not siblings, receiving bowls of ice cream from a parent, arguing over who got the biggest scoop. What happens between Anet and a customer that is not me in a situation of this sort that is not really my business in my opinion.

It’s not that they chose to give out a title that’s got hazenvirus angry. It’s how they dealt with the situation. Some players before the title was released into the game contacted support and were allowed to trade for a different legendary (except Eclipse, they couldn’t get that one). Others were told no. This difference in CS response to the situation is what’s got hazenvirus angry. The inequality of it.

Kinda odd, when thinking about all the talk that said “we can play them any time we want to, unlike season 1”.

In a way it’s still quite same as season 1 living story was, do it on time or it’ll be over and you cannot get it.

Propably gonna release as separate extras for additional £/$/€?

What? You can play it anytime, at no cost, as long as you unlock it during the active ‘free unlock’ time period. If you fail to unlock it during the Release’s active time, you can then purchase the Episode for 200 Gems.

Thus, there isn’t a time you can ‘never get it’.

And all you have to do is log in during those 2 weeks ONCE to unlock it.

I unlocked Episode 2 that way. Logged in then logged pretty much right back out during the two weeks it was open. I have it unlocked.

So it’s not like it’s asking you to log in and complete the story or even do any of the story. Just simply log in.

You finally ran across enough people that reported you for your name. There is no clause in the TOS that names that have managed to not get caught within X time are exempt from the rule.

Your lack of talking is likely what’s caused it to take so long.

ANet doesn’t have a script that reads names of characters in game. Real people have to report the names. And enough have to come in to make it not look like an accidental report and then it gets flagged for the game’s moderators to look at. They looked at your name and went, yep that violates the naming rule -sends out name change requirement-. There is no step to check to see how long someone had the name. The only other thing they check for is how many times have they had to send you a name change requirement.

So finishing one part is not required to unlock the episodes in the journal.

So I would reply back to them and get the specifics on what unlocks episodes in the journal. If you met those requirements for Part 2, say that to support, they should be able to check their records, and ask for the gems it would require you to unlock the episode (if it’s like Episode 1, it’s 200 gems) if their records show that you met the requirements.

They should be able to just generate gems out of thin air for you.

And even if I did have a few nodes, I likely wouldn’t need a stone at all. It’s not that expensive or long to enter the home instance.

And where did I say that it had to?

All I said is that I don’t have a stone and I don’t have a reason for one mostly due to financial reasons. And in my other posts in this thread, I’ve stated reasons for needing them on more than one character, so I’m obviously not against it.

I personally don’t have a reason to get one. I can’t afford to buy gems and don’t have enough gold to turn into enough gems for a node let alone the home instance stone.

And even if I did have a few nodes, I likely wouldn’t need a stone at all. It’s not that expensive or long to enter the home instance.

Dude, it’s not that it’s a song title that got you stuck with a name change. You do realize what people think of when they hear the word Taliban don’t you?

And this isn’t YouTube so it not getting banned there is irrelevant.

Newsflash: I didn’t report you and I would have likely just shook my head and went on with my day and not reported you. Because other people would and your name wasn’t highly offensive.

Because your name is offensive to some people. That’s why you got stuck with having to change your name. And not reading the rules before making your character and not knowing of that rule is not an excuse.

And what other MMO’s do is irrelevant. GW2 isn’t other MMO’s. It’s GW2.

Apparently some people did find your name offensive. Hence you got reported. And then ANet went yep, I can see why the name got reported. -sends out name change requirement for character-

Because they have better things to do than sit down and think of every possible offensive name.

So they gave some control to the players hoping they would stop and think about the name they were choosing and thinking if it would offend someone. Apparently, you didn’t.

Take a few minutes to think about the next name you choose and you’ll avoid further issues.

Your name broke the rules. They had every right to report you.

^This. I guess….maybe….you might want to visit a merchant to sell? with another character, but they are usually pretty common out and about the open world. I’m not even sure if every HI has a merchant. I don’t use merchants there.

They don’t and there’s some uproar about it. Paying the same amount of gems and not being able to get the same resources. Asura and Sylvari have one or no services in their home instance (I forget which has one and which has none). Whereas humans have all but like the bank and trading post).

People still in the early stages of the personal story on more than one character (new accounts more likely here than old) and even then only for the means of getting there quicker.

They do not offer account restores for people who deleted their own things. Only people who had their account hacked by someone that did not have physical access to the computer.

As to the transfer issue, it likely won’t show up until there’s been 7 days since he joined the server. That could explain the lack of transfer ability. Otherwise on the character select screen, right next to Log Out in the bottom left is World Selection. That allows you to transfer.

Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse for this game. You choose to not read them, you take the risk.

Freedom of speech means that the GOVERNMENT can’t make laws that infringe upon your right to speak. Is ANet a government agency now?

First ammendment reads as follows: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

Since ANet is not the government, they can come up with whatever naming policy they want and not be in violation of the first ammendment. If they want to change the rules to state that all characters must abide by racial lore of the race they chose, then they can do that.

And they designed the armor. None of which actually shows anything, just doesn’t leave much to the imagination.

I’m not sure why you would need a Home Portal Stone on more than one character, but sharing others tools, etc. is often requested.

More than one character may need to return home and then go back to where they were before. Or am I missing the purpose of the stone?

As long as people buy gold from them, they will find a way around anything a company does to stop them.

Enough people are buying gold from them to make it worth their while to buy new accounts and hack other people’s accounts (high likely hood of the accounts coming from former clients).

My guess is they can’t remove the character slot. Therefore, they can’t refund the gems.

There is a thing called key farming where you quickly go to level 10 personal story as it gives put a key. Then delete and go again. So you should be able to get the keys, just not as quickly. Though you’ll get other items as well.

There are already tells for enemies attacks. They all do not need to be so obvious that it becomes brainless to time dodges. The game is easy enough as it is.

Learn the tells better, then you’ll get better at timing your dodges to get the evade.

Agreed with OP.

A simple solution that I think would probably work would be to scale event rewards based off of several factors:

a) how much damage you dealt/how much you contributed in x ways
b) how many deaths you’ve had (the less the better)
c) the time you were present in the area while the event was taking place

Well… it definitely wouldn’t be simple to implement, but the idea itself is simple.

This method I would agree with more and I’d open that to other events, not just world bosses. Your reward being tied to how well you do in the event.

Now, if these world events were instanced and more like what I’ve heard about raids in other MMO’s, then I’m all for it needing organization and having the individual ability matter. Or if there were instanced versions of the current world bosses. I wouldn’t even have an issue with the instanced version giving considerable more loot if it was actually a considerable amount more difficult. Because I feel rewards should tie directly to difficulty and I don’t mind not being able to get something because I don’t have the skill for it or the desire to spend the ages it would take for me to get the skill for it.

But the moment it is out in the open world, it becomes impossible to really truly organize for any level of true difficulty. It’s why all world bosses become zerg content. Just because you need the DPS to knock away at the HP sponge. Some having interesting mechanics.

And Teq and Wurm being the most difficult due to their mechanics and requirements for X% of players to be doing certain things at certain times.

The problem is, they have to design the encounter to work with a minimum number of participates and a maximum number of participants.

Make it too difficult and those on the non-main shards won’t do it because they likely won’t have enough people to do it.

Make it too easy and the main shards will just breeze right through it.

And there is already problems with getting people to do what is necessary to match the zerg difficulty. Now add on personal difficulty, which would add in factors that commanders don’t know and don’t have the time to learn? Events become barren as no one as the desire to deal with it. Except for the hardcare. And if you stick anything beyond the typical rewards the casuals will come crying to the forum.

That’s not to say I wouldn’t personally mind some things that I can’t get because I don’t have the skill for, but ANet has yet to really put anything behind a wall that the casual players can’t overcome.

And in this instance hardcore vs casual is for those who care vs don’t care about being perfect in their rotations and using the right build, etc.
