Slightly off-topic but would the macro to use both the dodge and the jump together to produce the ‘Dodge Roll’ be a no go as it is still only one action, but is one that requires two button used in concert/close sequence.
No because that would be automation. Use at your own risk, violators of this rule tend to be banned. I personally would not touch that one with a ten foot pole. It would give you advantage in WvW and PvP against other players who do not use the macro.
@Lucius: ANet will only give you the words out of the TOS which says no third party mods or macros.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to succeed a defend event. Instead of making it desirable to let an event fail so you can do the recapture event, they should make it more desirable to have the event succeed. Usually I would say this would be to make the defend event better, but I think in this instance it may be preferable to instead add an alternative that reduces the reliance on the re-capture event.
Doing that event, achieve nothing. You get less. You waste more of your time and other people’s time.
You do not get Dragonite Ore. You do not get the chest. which is repeatable on every single characters you have.
Waste of time depends on what the player is doing the event for.
Not everyone plays the games for the reward. Or cares how quickly they get to the best gear in the game.
And in open world PvE, short of Teq and Wurm and the Pavillion, how I want to play does not need to take into consideration how others want to play as long as I’m not breaking any rules of the game to do so.
The only thing you’re failing to see is that skills can be used OOC. Speed and other boons can be applied while OOC. You can then switch to your “combat set” while those boons are active and you have no cooldowns on your current weapon set. The entire skill set (which remember an ele has twice as many as any other class except engineer) is “balanced” for whether you’re in combat or not. This is especially true of movement skills and other boon related skills.
It would be nice to develop a way to keep your “preferred” weapons out of your inventory to stop from selling them but as for a weapon swap, I’d be against that.
How many boons are attached to the weapon related skills that are unique to one weapon set? Let’s see
Staff
Fire – None
Water – regen
Air – Swiftness
Earth – None
Scepter
Fire – Vigor
Water – None
Air – None
Earth – None
Dagger – main hand
Fire – None
Water – None
Air – None
Earth – None
Dagger off hand
Fire – None
Water – None
Air – Swiftness
Earth – None
Focus
Fire – Might (only if hit)
Water – None
Air – None
Earth – None
That leaves regen for staff. But if you need regen before you even start a battle, I doubt ooc weapon swaps are going to help you.
Swiftness is only missing if you’re on dagger/focus.
Vigor is only on sceptor. Vigor is endurance regen. And it’s only for 5 seconds. And not sure if granted if there is no enemy for the phoenix to hit.
Might is only on focus, but it’s only if you’re hit.
So, where are all these boons that would make out of combat weapon swapping so over powered?
(edited by Seera.5916)
And us elementalists would not be opposed to them giving out of combat weapon set swaps to all other classes as well.
Because we know that some weapon sets are better for some situations over others. Even of the only difference is the set of runes.
They should turn the current world completion achievement into a do x achievements in this category. Like they do for living story meta . The two achievement s it checks for are wvw and pve world completion. Gifts of exploration are handed out with the “current” achievement. That way those pve players who just want to not be 2% away from 100% can do that, while changing nothing as it pertains to obtaining a legendary.
So what you’re saying is that you want Anet to take additional measures, beyond a player’s valid e-mail address, to request changes? You seem to have missed the simple fact that if a player’s e-mail is compromised, there’s nothing else Anet can do that the hacker wouldn’t have access to. You could have 10 extra steps involved, and the account would still be stolen. Why? Because if the e-mail account isn’t secure enough to prevent someone from taking it over, nothing is secure.
Each of us is responsible for protecting our personal information. Be it e-mail access, or account access. There’s no point in putting up more barriers, when the key barrier (the e-mail account) is already breached.
I’ve made this suggestion in the past (and been ignored) and always get this response from some other player. WHY do other players NOT want the system to be improved? I KNOW and have repeatedly acknowledged that this is NOT Anet’s fault, but improving a system does not always have to be about who’s responsibility it is to prevent the failure. I would pay RL money if I could tell ANet to Support to NEVER CHANGE MY PASSWORD WITH A SIMPLE EMAIL. Bottom line THAT would stop a significant number of hacked accounts.
My suggestion is simply that. If Anet REALLY wants to stop the obviously main source of account hacks these days AND reduce their overall Support resource demands, they would consider it. That is all I am saying.
I see NO reason why what I am suggesting would cause ANY additional work for Customer Service. There is ALREADY an automated email sent out from the ticket system and I have personally used Zendesk (what Anet is using for Support) and it has very easy tools to set up automated responses to include a link to the on-line web ticket submission page. The ticket would then be handled like every other ticket submitted via that AND would have info that could be verified rather easily (I’m hoping they have some automated system to throw up red flags if the info is missing or not even close to correct) by Support Agents.
I challenge anyone to prove that if 50% of hacks NEVER happen (I think this change would stop more than that), Anet Support would have MORE work to do. I think this makes sense and is a win-win for both players and the Support team. THAT is why I have been aggressive in making this suggestion when it seems appropriate.
If I am missing an actual down side to this proposed policy change, please enlighten me (and note, “Anet shouldn’t have to change it’s policy because your personal security sucks.”, is NOT an actual downside). Also note that I don’t argue that statement is false….it is certainly true, but what they shouldn’t have to do and what they COULD do to improve the system is my point.
I’m not saying I’m against protections (technically). Protections are always good. But in this case, not so much. I’m advocating that players stop getting their e-mails hacked in the first place. A majority of the time, it’s the player’s fault. Lack of PC security, poor pw choices, going to naughty websites, buying gold from an RMT, etc.
If a player makes poor choices, having their GW2 account get hacked can actually be a blessing in disguise. It would make them be more aware of their lack of security, and then they’ll take steps to protect themselves better. Think of it like a life lesson. It’s better to be sad that your GW2 account was hacked, than to be ruined if your identity was stolen. For this, I say no to additional protections.
They could do more to reduce the chances. Security question for example. And that doesn’t even have to be mandatory. So that those who do not want it don’t have to have it. But for those of us who do, it’s there.
And I’d want it and I don’t go to shaddy sites, my email is secure, I don’t buy gold from gold sellers, etc. Because even with all of those protections, including a mobile authenticator for the game, I could still one day be hacked.
That’s all Brother Grimm is asking for.
for the one who mentioned legendaryies are meant to be difficult or whatever. Isn’t there already a WvW exclusive gift for legendary? Alot of people who do World exploration aren’t going for ledgendary. just that 100% finished.
Yes and no.
You need badges of honor which are the WvW reward. However, I bought my Gift of Battle before I even started my WvW exploration and I don’t WvW. The badges of honor are given out in achievement point chests.
WvW maps as part of World Exploration for the Gifts of Exploration are now the only thing that forces people to do WvW to get the legendary.
What they could do is make 2 new achievements. WvW map exploration. PvE map exploration. Let the current one be a number of achievments done and it be the one that gives the Gifts of Exploration. Like they do for the LS meta for getting the reward after you do 15 meta achievements.
That way, those who only want to get their 100% can do that and not get stuck at 98%. And it doesn’t change how the legendary component is earned.
There’s probably a good portion of the population who would pay for new content like this. Remember, I’m not talking about an expansion, but rather a small add-on that lets you experience some lore. The Bonus Mission Pack was not big, and something similar for GW2 wouldn’t be big either. AND… this would be in addition to any regular LS content that we get each month.
I don’t view LS content as tons of content. Granted that’s based on LS season 1 which had temporary content. LS season 2 has solid information that they may be focusing more on permanent content.
I wouldn’t pay $10 for what amounts to just a Personal Story length quest, even for the lore. I’d pay maybe $1.
Now if it was a set of missions that gave no more than an average Personal Story set of quests. And instead of giving level appropriate gear, it gives Level 80 appropriate gear even though it scales to personal level (meaning a new player can check it out and get as much value out of it as a veteran playing on their maxed out fully decked in ascended gear main – value here being gold and materials over usage).
Then maybe I could see a $10 offering.
But again, this is only after ANet starts releasing a reliable stream of new permanent content. Something we have yet to see. I’d rather new ideas be put toward free content that we all get over just those who pay. IE: I’d rather see new Personal Story Quests over Gem Store Quests given the lack of permanent content that we’ve had.
If the rewards for the side missions weren’t skills or too different stat wise than what is “free”, then I don’t think many will have a huge issue with it. Or too much loot (either quality or quantity).
The moment that there is a new skill or a super neat item that’s better stat wise, then it turns into pay to win. Or a higher percentage of loot or better quality loot
Unless you want those new skills to be just as useful as racial skills or the Mistfire Wolf Elite.
Which of course then turns into: why even bother paying for it if it isn’t going to be rewarding?
When I first got the Bonus Mission Pack for GW1, I didn’t do it for the rewards. I wanted to experience part of the Guild Wars lore.
But how many people do you know in this game do things simply for the lore and not the rewards vs those who play for the rewards?
And I’d rather ANet spend it’s money on things that would be accessible to all players over something that’s not. Especially given the bugs and lack of new content available to everyone.
It would likely be different if we had tons of new permanent content coming on a regular and reliable basis. But we don’t.
If the rewards for the side missions weren’t skills or too different stat wise than what is “free”, then I don’t think many will have a huge issue with it. Or too much loot (either quality or quantity).

That is why they are called ‘LEGENDARY’ – they should be hard to get.
And I think I said as much in my post. But you don’t want something to be so hard and take so long that you lose interest in the game trying to get there.
AHH – try in get the gear in Rift in RIAD lvl dungeons – on average it took 150 runs (4 bosses took 4-6 hours to do) to get all the armor so you can go to the next dungeon – which was the same amount of time. That is just as bad.
Legendaries are supposed to he HARD to get and that is why they are an account achievement. If you want it, you do the work.
I guess you haven’t gone to college – that was boring and a lot of work – did you quit there too? Just asking……
OneLouder wasn’t asking for ANet to just hand out Legendaries to whomever asks for one.
OneLouder was just wanting the effort to make one to not be so high that it turns people off of the game after making one due to burn out. And was of the opinion that it currently is too high in their opinion.
I apologize for being terse. I was a bit irked at those deriding something they had a knee jerk reaction to despite not knowing what was offered and how it was implemented.
Yes, from my perspective of players already paying for services, a the “vip” convenience services seems to be a good idea. it is never a good feeling to be spending money on a service knowing that a better one is available for less, but just not to me. So a $15 worth of gems per month item seems “essential” because of what i am already currently paying for.
I respect those of differing opinions and was only making a suggestion and trying to be informative. Though i have discovered that my definition of the boundaries of a pay 2 win game is an uncommon one. It is up to the devs to weigh the risks and benefits and roi of adding such a item. From the reactions of those in the forum, i would say that the chances are remote. But I look at what i believe to be a better service and longingly sigh with a bit regret at what could be.
I only objected to anything that is only for people who pay a subscription or buying x item in the store y number of times.
I don’t have an issue with a bundle costing less than the items would if bought individually.
But nothing like nolij’s dr removal. That ruins the economy and is pay to win. I don’t pay to win items in the store.
you would be paying for the convenience access, not the items that act as a bonus though i can see your point. Perhaps bonus items are a bad idea
Edit: i was thinking not of “this is june’s bonus sub item” but rather more like the achievement reward system where “you have reached # K AP! # months of subscribed! here is a free <insert item>”
Not paying for the next month would only lose you access to the instant banks/merchants which would be the same as your banker golem running out or having no more merchants/tp items/res stones/repair cannisters.
The main part of the vip system that i like is that it is account based access to the current character bound convenience items (which i buy) at a similar/lower cost but with a more polished execution. The bank golem alone is 1000 gems per month currently . Add in the other items and i am spending about 1600 gems per month for these services. If all that stuff is available with account wide unlimited access for 1250 gems per month, i would be all over it. Add in a discount for other gemstore vanity items would sweeten the deal even more for many people like myself.
It could even be an account-wide buff that stops ticking whenever you log off, like the bday boosters/ meta primers. So that if you stopped logging in for a while, your “sub” access would not go away.
Then your system IS pay to win. Unless it’s sellable in the gem store for gem prices.
NOT tied to the subscription.
And your X months of subscription gifts ARE pay to win. And ANet would do “this month’s” special. Or more likely a “this LS cycle’s” special.
I disagree with this entirely the whole guildwars model was built around “no subscription fee ever” and by adding something like they will cause a huge negative uproar to pretty much 90% of the community who are casual.
This.
Plus, you could take that $15/mo and buy 1200 gems, and buy whatever gold that gets you, and then buy directly whatever materials you need to fill the gap left by DR.
Also known as “Pay 2 Win”…
Just had to post this link to this parody about free to play with pay to win on youtube…
Don’t click it, if you don’t want to watch it, if you don't like videos by Jaltoid...Sorry, felt like linking it…
That’s not pay 2 win.
Pay 2 win is when companies have things that make the game so much easier that those who do not pay are left so far behind that it creates two types of players: those that pay and those that do not pay. Those that pay have much better gear stat wise, get experience much faster, and/or earn money much faster. To the rate of those that do not pay have no chance of ever catching up.
Removing DR via a subscription would be pay 2 win. Those that get DR removed would earn money at a much higher rate than those who do not.
You can only break so many promises before even the most loyal players, even the fanboys, will lose trust. And if you don’t have trust in a company, it’s hard to shell out more money to them. It’s harder to buy other products by that company. It’s easier to jump ship to another game made by a company that hasn’t broken their trust.
No subscription is the main one that at least keeps hope open for those players who have found previous changes to be bad. That the game might change back and they won’t be horribly behind due to their break from the game.
A subscription based model like this would dash that hope. Be the straw that broke the camel’s back for a large number after how many promises broken (or at least perceived and perception is all that matters)?
@dodgycookies: I’d rather not have any subscription. That way, I can choose what goodies I get for my money I choose to spend on gems. If I want to get skins with my gems and no unlimited tools, then so be it. Or vice versa.
Not letting ANet decide what it wants to give me for my money.
And I want to choose when I get it. If I want to go 2 months between paying then I should be able to without losing access to anything. And before you say that the months don’t have to be consecutive to keep adding, you lose the opportunity for whatever the item of the month is if you don’t sub in a particular month.
I made a thread recently, outlining how i envisioned a VIP subscription (which i am in full support of), which filled up quickly with close minded haters threatening to quit the game if such an option is added to it. I say, let the small percentage who will actually go through with quitting do so, and let the game improve and flourish on the increased income it will no doubt recieve by implementing VIP!
There were even some in that thread foolish enough to call a VIP service “pay to win”. Apparently they forgot that right now, the only way to efficiently get gold in the game is by directly buying it, which is the most direct form of “pay to win” in existance
That’s because your suggestion would ruin the game’s economy. And be a definite pay to win.
Please tell me what those gems can buy now that is something that those who do not pay can’t get access to?
Pay to win is when people who pay get access to things that those who do not pay do not have access to.
Your suggestion is pay to win. You’re giving those who pay access to no diminishing returns while those who don’t pay diminishing returns. And a portion of the players who don’t pay, can’t pay.
Perhaps the Devs have changed their minds, but it has been posted a few times that they don’t care for the idea of polls in-game (or maybe elsewhere, as well) as the questions give skewed response data.
Still, as I said, maybe they have changed their minds. Of course, according to the forums, that would be a terrible thing. =/
How would in game responses give skewed responses? Wouldn’t it give less of a skewed response than polls done in the forum?
Heck have the poll only pop up for people who go into a city on a certain day. That way it doesn’t interfere with combat, doesn’t pop up first thing on players who just want to get into the game, and would push people to go to a city to do the survey as word spread.
And have it be this prompt when it first comes up.
A Survey is up covering [Topic]. It only takes a few minutes to do and is available until X time, [insert timer] from now.
- Take me to the survey.
- Prompt me the next time I go to a city.
- Do not prompt me again, I do not wish to take the survey.
You were answered in your other thread on this very subject.
Did your friend create another email account from a different provider and contact CS, again? Doesn’t look like it, as that is the same ticket number.
Again, read this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Not-Getting-Our-E-mails-Hotmail-Yahoo-Gmail-Comcast/first#post3938439
Well, I see they have merged this here in the Sticky…just as well. Oh, and if you look above, you can see that it is in processing/review. Good luck.
1st There is zero reply from an Arena Net employee in original thread.
2nd The email is NOT compromised since it is secured with owners cell phone
The only clue that the ticket has been received was a general response from Gaile that it’s in processing in this very thread.
That was a week ago. The standard time frame for a response to a ticket (set by the very title of this thread) is 3 days.
FYI we at 5 times that.
Remember that the owner of this account CANNOT play the game due to having nothing on it and whatever he does do will eventually be erased. So what’s the point??
In fact I’ll just tell him to head on over to the news sites with his story about his mistreatment
Thank you
So because your friend is experiencing the longer than average wait times due to the huge increase in support tickets due to more hacked accounts than usual and the feature patch related tickets, you’re going to have your friend generate some bad PR for the game?
No one said the email WAS compromised. Just that it MAY be compromised. And some email providers have issues with emails coming from support. That’s all Inculpatus cedo was saying. For your friend to make sure that he’s done all he can do on his end to speed things up. Since a vast majority of the time, lack of email is either compromised email or email provider misdirected the email.
Edit:
@Inculpatus: Your post in the thread you linked did mention that the email may be compromised.
Or just ask them to stop giving you swiftness? The only other reason that you would want to voluntarily remove boons is conveniently left out by the OP and others. What’s more effective against builds that turn your boons against you than the ability to remove your own boons preemptively?
The only way I see this happening is if it would only be possible while you are out of combat. Something hits you? Cant remove boons.
Eliminate the ability to do that in WvW and PvP. There solved. I don’t think there are any PvE enemies that can turn a player’s boons against the player.
As for someone not giving someone swiftness, they may not be giving them swiftness on purpose. Just giving it to themselves because that’s how THEY do that jumping puzzle and without it their feel of the puzzle is off.
I’m also one of those people who will wait until speed boosts are off to jump. Because that’s how I learned to do jumping puzzles. So I judge how far to jump based on not having a speed boost. Speed boost throws me off.
Ah, then the wiki is worded poorly and needs some serious work. 27% of the storyline level reads to me of the level is 80, then the expeirience earned is 27% of 80. Not 27% of the total experience needed to level up to the next level if you’re at the correct level for the story.
Each Personal Story gives experience equal to that of 27% of the storyline level.
From where you are:
Level 3 – 0.81
Level 4 – 1.08
Level 6 – 1.62
Level 8 – 2.16
Level 10 – 2.70
Level 11 – 2.97
Level 14 – 3.78
Level 16 – 4.32
Level 19 – 5.13
Level 22 – 5.94
Level 22 – 5.94
Level 24 – 6.48
Level 26 – 7.02
Level 28 – 7.56
Level 30 – 8.10
Level 33 – 8.91
Level 36 – 9.72
Level 39 – 10.53
Level 42 – 11.34
Level 45 – 12.15
Level 47 – 12.69
Level 48 – 12.96
Level 50 – 13.50
Level 51 – 13.77
Level 53 – 14.31
Level 55 – 14.85
Level 57 – 15.39
Level 59 – 15.93
Level 62 – 16.74
Level 64 – 17.28
Level 66 – 17.82
Level 68 – 18.36
Level 70 – 18.90
Level 71 – 19.17
Level 72 – 19.44
Level 73 – 19.71
Level 74 – 19.98
Level 75 – 20.25
Level 76 – 20.52
Level 77 – 20.79
Level 78 – 21.06
Level 79 – 21.33
Level 80 – 21.60
Level 80 – 21.60
Level 80 – 21.60
Level 80 – 21.60
Level 80 -21.60 + 70% of whatever level you are at since final story mission is Arah Story mode dungeon.
So excluding experience from killing things and reviving things while in the mission you earn a total of: 608.31. Which wouldn’t even be enough to level you to Level 3.
But a number of the quests do have you killing tons of enemies and so experience would be higher than what is posted here.
Also, there would be some experience from uncovering new areas and what not if you have not 100% completed the map. As well as any foes you stop to kill on your way towards the quests.
This also does not include boosts due to being in a party, XP boosts, or doing parts multiple times with others as they progress through their story.
And I got my numbers based off of the link the other poster posted.
Friend got hacked 1 week ago
He put in a ticket and zero response from Anet.
These #625113 and #629746 are the ticket numbers
Can someone from Anet explain what’s going on here???
Having multiple tickets will slow the response down. Your friend should close one and reference the first one in it saying to use that one for the issue.
How much slower than a week can it possibly get?
Besides he referenced the 1st ticket in the 2nd one
Because at first Support Agent A might get the first ticket and Support Agent B gets the second one. When Support Agent B gets it, he has to interrupt Support Agent A’s work to tell him about the second ticket in case it has information the first ticket does not. Then they have to close that ticket down.
So not only does it slow your friend’s resolution from coming, it slows down other people’s resolutions. Because Support Agent B gets a duplicate.
Or something along those lines. But Gaile would not say that duplicate tickets slow down response times if it didn’t. So tell your friend to close one down. For your friend’s sake and for the sake of everyone else who has submitted a ticket.
No and No. People are complaining that the game is getting Elitist and this would only make it worse.
It’s only becoming more elitist because most of the GW2 population consists of kitten poor players wearing PVT and Clerics who whine over and over about how they are just playing how they want aka playing like crap.
Yes because gear is what makes you a good player versus a bad player….riiiight. Unless you honestly believe that if you are in zerker gear there’s absolutely no way you could play like crap. I’m sure many here would disagree with you quite a bit.
I run a PVT guardian w/ clerics trinkets in most dungeons (have cleared every dungeon every path and at this point up to FoTM43, without any issue). I’ve yet to whine about anything. If I want an 8min CoF run, I’ll hop on my zerker warrior and look for speedrun groups (but only if they only need 1 more person already). If I’m OK with a 13min CoF run, I’ll stick with my guardian.
I’ve been trying to take note of times to fulfill groups for speedruns versus casuals, and honestly the last couple of groups I’ve been in that wanted zerker only (and typically warriors), it has taken ~10min minutes of us standing around to get an acceptable group together (acceptable to the group leader, thus me only joining speedruns if they need 1 more, not gonna just stand around). Compared to my “casual” groups (which basically means bring any gear you want) that fill up within 30secs. My casual group would be practically done with the CoF p1 run before the zerker “speedrun” group even starts. Just seems like a complete waste of time, especially since the whole point of speedrunning is quick dungeon turn-around, not necessarily running the dungeon fastest. You want to be able to finish X number of dungeons in Y time. If you have to wait a bunch of time in between each to get a group together, then what are you really accomplishing?
Those truly into speed running tend to have groups of their own and don’t pug it.
Woljnir is absolutely right.
I don’t feel like being excluded from every single dungeon just because people have decided that my celestial ele is worthless and that I should be running zerker. Just because there is a meta doesn’t mean the meta is the only viable thing. An inspect tool is a surefire way to promote exclusion in a game that is about inclusivity… The ONLY form an inspect tool would be acceptable in would be if it just showed you what skins someone was using.
Conversely if the majority of the group wants to do the dungeon as fast as is humanly possible, shouldn’t they be able to remove people who refuse to leave their group so that they can get another player who wants to play their way into their group?
Why should the player who knows they aren’t doing top DPS infringe on a group of speed clearers who make it perfectly clear in their LFG that they are a speed group?
Yes, instant kicks without talking to the player is rude, but that’s going to happen DPS meter, inspect command or not.
I am not in favor of a public DPS meter. Should only be viewable by the player themselves. And I would also limit inspect to skins. The rude people don’t need tools to make it easier for them to be rude. It’s just naive to think that without them the rude people aren’t going to be rude.
They can certainly say it’s 100% not Anet if they please….it’s entirely up to you if you believe them or not. The fact remains that the majority of the latest hacks are due to email accounts being compromised (not ANet’s responsibility). There are not THOUSANDS of players reporting hacks (like in the case of the PSN issue), so stating, “that’s what PSN said.” is really not applicable in this situation.
Now saying that, I do think ANet could reduce the number of hacked account if they simply QUIT allowing passwords to be changed by a simple email request, but I’ve expressed that concern in the past and would really just like to hear they are considering changing that policy.
Yeah…I don’t exactly believe that its always someone’s e-mail account.
On many websites, you can check the recent login activity (complete with location and IP address), sometimes it goes back several months, and in almost all cases, you can’t delete or change it (which I atleast know to be true on Yahoo. So, if you did change email accounts recently, and your still getting hacked, you can check if its your e-mail or not for long-in activity, VERY easily.
So, say I checked that and came up empty, what would your magical reasoning be for me being hacked in that case?
One of the following:
1. You have the same email and password on another site and that site got compromised. And your GW2 password is the same as the password from that site.
2. You have a key logger on your computer. Not all virus scanners will catch everything. If you haven’t already find a second scanner to scan for viruses. Malwarebytes is a good free one that won’t conflict with your primary one. And the free version does not actively scan so it won’t affect computer performance unless you tell it to scan.
3. Your GW2 password while unique for you may be on a list of passwords that hackers try. And someone sold them your email address. Or they got the email from a site that got compromised.
4. Cracked your password (meaning your password likely wasn’t strong enough).
5. Your new password was too similar to the old one.
All of the above would also indicate that you have not verified your email. ANet won’t send a log in confirmation to an email that a player hasn’t confirmed.
And the number of hacked accounts that tie in with hacked emails is incredibly high. High enough that it’s worth going the extra mile and making sure that the email account is secure before going through support. Especially those who have multiple successful hacks. I’ve seen 95% be said from an ANet employee (forget who) as the percentage of times hacked emails occur along with hacked accounts.
Shen, China is on completely different servers than we are for legal reasons. If every EU and NA player logged in we would not affect China’s version at all.
And how do you know if someone has gotten their money’s worth out of the game or not? Can you read everyone’s mind? Maybe some feel they haven’t gotten their money’s worth.
Maybe some feel this game is the closest game out there to their perfect game, if only ANet would change X, Y, and Z.
And why should players who hate a change not voice their opinion on their displeasure as long as they do it in a polite way?
Actually, an Anet dev just admitted now that one of the content changes in this patch was as a result of China. Look at the dev tracker.
So a Chinese player stumbled into something that caused them to change the game.
Doesn’t have anything to do with what I said. I said our servers are completely different than their servers and that everyone of is logging in would have zero effect on their servers. Us being on won’t lag them out at all or cause them too many shards or anything.

Who says you have to quit one MMO to try or play another? Especially when that one MMO is Free to Play or Buy to Play. It doesn’t cost me anything to just let GW2 sit on my computer while I play other games (not necessarily even MMO’s). I can pick GW2 up at a later date.
And honestly, having more than one go to game to play is probably better in the long run. Keeps you from getting bored of the one game just due to sheer time spent. Harder to burn out.
@Muusic, well, you didn’t read.
@Ellianna, you don’t know the history of the case and why i prefer to try to reach Gaile.
@Penguin, i don’t have my GW2 rewards, but everything said to me i will have them when i linked my accounts.I love this animosity from players who are not concerned when I just want a little help from Gaile.
Pretty sure as I stated, this isn’t a place for your personal conversations with Gaile. She’s very busy and can’t look at every post people put up. If you want help, send in a support ticket. If your ticket isn’t getting answered after 3 days, use the thread provided. I don’t need to know the history of your case to understand there are procedures in place and nobody is above them. Including you.
This.
Tshakkar, when you don’t go through proper channels (support ticket), you don’t get to cut in line in front of everyone who did. Especially when there are several in that line who currently don’t have access to their accounts due to being hacked.
Since you claim your GW1 account was hacked, I’m sure you understand why they shouldn’t get jumped over when you’re obviously just wanting the rewards in GW2 and not the ability to play your GW1 account again.
Put in a support ticket and use the proper channels. Stop trying to get special treatment. You aren’t better than any one else on this forum.
Or it could be turn your bland ascended weapon skin into several different new skins using various methods.
Gear progression does not necessarily mean vertical progression. It could be horizontal progression. The Dev didn’t specify which.
Yes, I do realize the chances of it being horizontal progression is slim, but not zero based on the information we know.
Hello, busy peeps
These tickets are over 7 day’s old, PLEASE PUT SOME PRIORITY in my tickets, por favorTicket #600731
Ticket #599030
Ticket #598562Thank you, and keep up the awesome work
If those tickets are for the exact same problem, close two and update one only. Multiple tickets for the same issue not only slows the process down for you but it slows the process down for others.
The report area shows the account name whereas the whisper will show the character name.
VERY few people will have an account name match a character name. Especially if it’s a gold seller account that wasn’t hacked.
My guess it is a few months after Christmas.
Hackers gave those who got the game for Christmas some time to earn gold and items that can converted to gold as well as some of them to stop playing the game and be less likely to notice if they slip in and hack their account.
All players should know to not AFK while still in game if they can help it and should not be angry if they return to find themselves dead or needing to repair their armor. That’s an inherent risk of going AFK and other players should not have to worry about running by an AFK player while running somewhere.
I try not to do #1 and I never do it intentionally, especially while on my level 80.
As for #2, sometimes the player jumping in is someone who would need help with the skill challenge or fight but is too shy/proud to ask for help on their own. So when they see someone else already doing it, they jump in. Because it’s help they didn’t have to ask for.
But yes, don’t jump in if you will trivialize the content without seeing if the player needs help.
Champions given the loot you’re probably out of luck on. People will jump on champions for the loot.
My GW2 account has been getting hacked constantly for the past 2 weeks. My son’s account also.
There is some kind of a security breach, whether they want to admit it or not.
Do you and you son still live together?
Do you use the same PC?
Do you use the same WiFi connection and is it secure?
Do you play at WiFi hotspots? There can be lots of reasons why you are getting hacked. An Anet database compromise is probably not one of them or there would be waves of reports.
A mobile authenticator will keep them from getting into your account even if they have your login info.
And if it was an ANet database compromise, the forums would be flooded with MANY more threads about accounts getting hacked than we are currently seeing.
Gaile,
Ticket #614846
Wife was hacked … still waiting and can’t post in forums.
This is getting to be torture, had the account back for a very short while and then she got an email that her email address had been changed. It was secure and had 2 step verification on it. Because they have the serial number to the account they can just override any security and reset the email. New ticket Ref: 623135
More than one ticket for the same issue slows down the response not only for your issue but for other people.
Close down all tickets related to the same issue except for one and update THAT ticket.
Its still dead in the water. If we both run out into Wayfarer at our peak time then we won’t be on SoS or IoJ, we’ll be on a megaserver. You know that.
WvW is the only reason to choose a server now.
Guild banks are also still server based. If the guild’s bank was created by a member on Server A, only guild members on Server A will be able to withdraw from the Server A Guild Bank. Members on Server B can create a bank on Server B if the guild allows it that would only be accessible on Server B.
Not only that but home server is used in the formula for what “overflow” to put you in should there be more than one with open slots. What weight that has vs friends and guild members, I don’t know. Probably less since you’d most likely rather play with friends or guild mates over strangers.
My wife’s account was hacked yesterday, with the help of anet we managed to get back into the account but it had been stripped. We followed the advice from the anet email and changed the email address, password and assigned the email authentication but guess what? hacked again the very next day and this time they put mobile authenticator on just to make sure we couldnt access the account. All we have had back from anet is an email saying that they are looking into it and no other replies. I would very much like to know what else we are supposed to do to when we do all the things anet ask for a secure account and then get hacked again within a few hours.
How similar is the new email address to the old one?
Did that email account have the same password (or a very similar one) as the old account?
Did you email from the old account saying you’ll be responding from X new email address?
614025 – my account was hacked . GM only helped changing my mail ,but not restored my lost things.
And now I can only login and watch my empty bank and item box, and dont know how to do.
Please have a look
ANet doesn’t automatically do an account restoration. From what I have read, you only get one restore per account so they don’t want to use that restore without permission.
It also gives you time to get your email secure as well since a majority of hacks coincide with emails being hacked as well.
Or decide that you really don’t mind starting over from scratch.
Just update your ticket asking for your account to be restored.
It is already possible to swap weapons out of combat….I myself have seen several scripts that do this for warrior warhorn swiftness or mesmer focus swiftness…what they do is when you press your keybind the script opens inventory and always clicks the exact spot of the weapon that is entered in the script. It can only be done out of combat, so it really doesn’t give any advantages because if u are fast the inventory can be opened with the “I” keybind and click the weapon.
I personally don’t use this script but someone with very basic programming knowledge could whip up a script for ele out of combat swapping very quickly…I myself could do it so im sure anet could too….even though the click scripts are sort of ghetto and you can’t move the inventory or it wont work. They have real programmers so I’m sure they could do much better
And that’s a 3rd party modification and is not allowed. We want a legal means to out of combat swapping.
I’m sorry… I have been following this forum the last few weeks and I do wonder if the GW2 email list got compromised. The number of hacked posts here has been the most I have seen since I started playing over a year ago. I wonder how these hackers targeting GW2 accounts happened to find GW2 player’s emails out of the several hundred million emails out there. I mean if you are going to hack GW2 accounts you need to have a email list. I don’t think GW2 hackers just targeted every email on the internet in hope of getting a positive.
I hope I’m wrong but something seems off in this forum recently with all the hack problems reported.
This April 11th sticky and suddenly we have several “I got hacked” posts here (many of which were closed) in the last month.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Account-Security-What-you-need-to-know/I’m sure I’ll get hell for this but something seems off. I think I stated what others were thinking as well and afraid to talk about.
If ANet had any security breach the number of posts and tickets would be so astronomically high that there would have to be something posted by ANet. There’s not so the breach isn’t of an ANet database.
ok so thats me on the forums. ok.
people move on, vacation….um no.
That still isn’t, at all, a good reason that the game should just sent one email to authorize, when its so far off of a region login.
That email should be :
“we have locked the account because someone from the other side of the planet tried to access you account. contact blah blah to restore/reset your account.”
But no, nothing like that, human contact is lost apparently in this day an age. Which makes me understand why they have no phone/staff support anywhere i could find.
Only “submit a ticket we will get back to you.”
Followed by “we will investigate further.”Understand that i’m really angry that about, to date $180+ (game + 5 gem cards)an 2000+ hrs on this game was wiped out in 3 hours, all because some little (word i can’t use on the forums) went into my account to sell off my hard earned stuff, IN CHINA
whats hard to see that someone from CHINA used an account located in FLORIDA, that shouldnt happen.
That’s not a red flag???
Did you know that most hacks coincide with emails getting hacked.
So here’s what happen:
Chinese hacker hacks your email account because you used the same email and password on a game forum (not necessarily a GW2 fansite, but it could be a WoW fansite or a WoW clone fansite,).
Hits the Forgot password link and closely watches the email account. Approves the password change and then deletes the email and deletes it from trash as well immediately.
Logs in and the verify you’ve changed location email gets sent.
Just like with the password reset, they authorize the location change and delete the evidence.
Puts on mobile authenticator.
Raids and pillages your account and uses it for botting purposes.
So your solution will likely not change anything for a majority of hacks. Only the minority who do not have it coincide with their email getting hacked.
Not saying your hack coincided with your email getting compromised, just that a vast majority of the cases do so your solution does not change a thing. The mobile authenticator already does what you suggest and until hackers invent a way to teleport a phone from one spot to another it will lock hackers out of your account.
1. People move and go on vacation.
2. How specific?
The Texas IP is you on the forums. Not ANet themselves most likely. It’s a known issue.
And they likely have access to your email. I would secure your email asap.
If you give engis and eles an OoC weapon swap (thus e.g. giving an ele 8 weapon sets instead of 4 without opening inventory), then please add a weapon set swap function to other classes so that we can have 4 instead of 2.
Because I do not think it’s fair that an ele would have 8 open weapon sets in sPvP during the match and my class would have 2, or that an ele can change those in WvW in a brief moment of OoC with one button while my class would have to search for those in inventory.
I would not be opposed to this. However, what button would be used as default for this? Ele’s (and Engi’s most likely, never played one) don’t use the ~ at the moment.
I would also not be opposed to be it being PvE only even if other classes are given a set swap that’s also PvE only (and possibly WvW as well, how many ele’s would be there percentage wise). It does take time to manually switch vs swapping via a button. So I do see it being disallowed in sPvP, even if the weapon set swap is allowed. Also helps with balancing issues since fewer combinations.
I don’t think whine was the word to use personally. But you can’t argue that if you can get the Daily without realizing it, then it probably is too easy for you. But I don’t think it was too easy for most players and I doubt that was the reason for the change.
I think the reason for the change was all of the people who felt compelled to do every single Daily available complaining of too many options. I don’t think it was done to cater to their natures but more to curtail the amount of AP they could earn.
And I think they went a step too far. Limiting total earned over the lifetime would be fine on its own. Let players decide how quickly they want to hit that cap.
Your reasoning is something I can pretty much sign myself. But again I have to wonder why the rest of the players have to suffer because some obsessive-compulsive players want to grind their life away. (let them, if they want to.) Surely the caps on daily and monthly achievements take care of that problem .
Maybe some of them were (are?) too easy. Like Daily laurel vendor visit. (which is still on the rotation, isn’t it?) But again, is it meant to be very hard? I totally can get behind the thought that you can get the daily just by playing normally. This is the representation of ANet supposed “no grind, play how you want” philosophy.
There definitely does need to be some “too easy” things in the game. And Dailies and Monthlies shouldn’t be too hard.
Like I said, I doubt ANet made the change to cater to their must do all achievements nature to make it easier on them. My guess is they didn’t like how quickly they were earning AP from it. But in their solution to the problem, they stepped on the toes of those who liked having a choice in what they did.
It would be nice to have an out of combat weapon swap for engineers and elementalists. For an engineer I would also like to have the weaponswap key swap from your weapon to your kit while you are in combat. This way the kit will realy behave like an second weapon and not as a utiltiy skill (altough it will still be in you skillbar with utility).
Why should an ele have another weapon – they already have 4 different weapons because of the attunements (Fire, Water, Air, Earth)- you want them to have 8 now? Talk about OP… NO WAY!!
OP is not asking for weapon swap like warriors have.
OP is asking for weapon swap that will only work out of combat. Like ele’s and engi’s already have to do. We just want the ability to not have to open up the hero panel, open up the equipment tab, and put our second set on and hope an enemy doesn’t find us in the time it takes to switch sets.
All we’re asking for is a quality of life change. Nothing that would affect combat.
People were whining the achievements were to easy and it wasn’t a judgment of how good a player was. People would get the achievements without even realizing they did. I like the achievement system this way.
I’m still looking for an answer on who exactly was whining achievements were to(o) easy. I certainly remember people saying the first system was too hard, and thus they added more options in the update before the april 15th one.
I don’t think whine was the word to use personally. But you can’t argue that if you can get the Daily without realizing it, then it probably is too easy for you. But I don’t think it was too easy for most players and I doubt that was the reason for the change.

Weapon diversity is an issue as well, and not all engis use kits btw but still those engis that don’t do not want legendary weapons because of the problems we face with lack of weapon choices.
Trying to pass of “I don’t want to use kits” as a reason to have more weapons is ridiculous. That’s like me saying “I’m a Mesmer but don’t want to use Focus, Torch, Sword, Pistol or Greatsword, so we need more weapon diversity please!”
I agree with the above – NO and NO. The Ele has 4 attunements they can use and that is like having 4 sets of weapons. The Engineer has kits and again that is like having more weapons (they have their own skills attached to them).
I find nothing wrong with it and if they do get an actual weapon swap, the same people complaining about wanting a weapon swap will be back complaining that these professions are now OP because of it.
OP wasn’t asking for in combat weapon swapping.
OP was asking for OUT of combat weapon swapping that does not involve opening up the inventory to do so.
The problem right now is most likely a third party site got hacked.
Which gave hackers access to emails and passwords. Now the site’s password might not have been the same as the game’s password. But it might have been the same as the email password.
And any who bought the digital version of the game likely has their serial number in their email still. Given anyone who gains access to their email the ability to change the password (and then delete the evidence).
A lot of the recent hacks have had email compromises alongside of them. So it’s likely not ANet’s security that’s to blame. It’s the email providers and the fan site.
Moral of the story: Have a separate email you use for registering at fan sites and don’t share passwords with anything you don’t want to lose. And most certainly keep email passwords unique. Because email access is usually the only requirement for password changes on various sites.
