Did any of those players who needed the event the succeed mention they needed it for the Living Story in chat before it was failed?

I’m sure most of the farmers there most of the time will be happy to let it succeed if someone needs it to succeed if the person asks nicely.

The players farming it have just as much of a right to play how they want as you do. When things conflict, most times if asked nicely the group that is blocking progress is more willing to play how you want for one round.

Yeah right of course.. what game are you playing ??

No one should have to ask permission to complete any event in GW2.. they are there to be succeeded not purposely failed.
If any player was to ask the first thing to be said from the failtrain would be .. go somewhere else for it were farming lalala and so it would begin.

Failtrain wont be happy until every event is nerfed in GW2 and every legitimate champ train rotation or openworld mob spawn gets hit with heavy DR or no loot drops at all from champs..

Why ANET fail to act on this kind of in game behaviour is beyond me and I don’t mean by patching the event again.. just one announcement to warn the community it is watching and will start acting on this exploitation of the event mechanics if it continues might start to see a shift in attitude but then again probably not.

But it isn’t exploitive to fail an event multiple times in a row. It is a valid way to play. Just because you don’t like it or that there are a few jerks in the group, doesn’t make it an exploit. ANet has mentioned this, but it isn’t something that they balance around. Just like key farming.

And a poster above mentioned that they asked and the farmers were willing to let the event succeed when the above poster appeared to be the only one who wanted it.

Which is exactly the position I am in, “Gate of Madness” doesn’t even get a look in most of the time other than it’s own self named map which it mostly owns, now I suppose I could server switch for 1800 gems, and I seriously considered this until I realized that if I in time got all 8 of my toons to map completion I would have to spend 43200 gem server switching I packed that idea in quickly.

Your realize that server transfers are account wide right? It’s not per character. You can’t have one toon on GoM and another on JQ, it doesn’t work that way.

Yes I am aware of that, my maths;

(9 Classes) * (3 Sides Red / Green & Blue) = 27 for each switch cost is 1800 gems, 1800 * 27 = 48,600 gems

Time is a factor so you ‘may’ be able to get all 9 classes through on just 3 switches, but you wouldn’t be very relaxed while doing this, the figures above are based on “absolute” worse case scenario.

The point is we should not have to pay money for map completion if our server that we joined isn’t into PvP, it wasn’t like the server was noted when I join mine if it was PvP, PvE or even somewhere in between. Naturally when I opened my account the first thing I wanted to do was play not research servers, in retrospect would I have chosen differently knowing what I know now? not sure, I don’t think so.

That’s not how that works. It’s 1800 per account, not per character on your account.

On topic: I’ll admit, I got my only world complete when I was on Eredon Terrace. We had a miraculous break about a year ago where we shifted from 24th to 22nd and suddenly I was able to get the whole thing done. I waited… three months for that to happen? It was awful. On top of that, I generally resent having to be put up against other players in order to get something. I choose not to play games where competition against other players is a driving factor. Internally, WvW really should not be considered a PvE game mode.

I think what he’s saying is he transfers to and from his primary server and the T1 server for each character as they hit level 80. Not waiting until they all need WvW and just doing them all in one go.

So he pays 3600 round trip since he doesn’t wait for more than one to be ready. Which is crazy.

I did do hearts, and events, and whatever else presented itself. As I said, I wrote it up:

And anzenketh, your assessment of my feelings is not only wrong, but also rather presumptuous.

Anzenketh has a point, though. There may be some perceived slowness on your end.

I know I have days where it’s suddenly end of my shift and others where time crawls, but the shifts were the same length of time.

And there is the saying of a watched pot never boils. If your watching the xp bar, it is going to feel slower than of you ignore it.

Then just don’t.

I’m sure there are a ton of WvW players who would love for the PvE parts of map completion to be removed because they find map completion in PvE modes to be tedious and a “royal pain in the kitten.” Yet you don’t find them on here creating threads to ask for that. Because they get that the PvE’ers have to go in and take a spot on the map to get their map completion. A spot that during peak times a person who wishes to play WvW could be taking.

You have 2 tedious and pain in the kitten maps to complete. WvW players who hate PvE maps have how many?

There are PvE skill pts that require help from others, like the ones where a champ is sitting on top of it ; do you want those points omitted from map completion as well? I have map completion on 3 toons and the only toon I didn’t need to ask for help on skill points like those were on my thief bc I stealthed in. What about the temple waypoints/POI/skill pts? Like someone said earlier, gw2 is a MMO, you are supposed to play with others.

The wvw maps actually take less in game play time than the PvE map; you just have to be patient. I have 6/8 toons with 100% map done in wvw, the only 2 not complete are under a month old and I have already grabbed all the poi and vistas that I can, now it’s just a waiting game until the locations that I need are avaliable.

I did not say I wanted things removed. I’m not a WvW player. I’m a PvE player. I said that there were likely WvW players who wanted PvE items related but they aren’t on here asking for it. Because they seem to understand that it does not need to be removed simply because they don’t like it.

And by the way, I was that someone who said this was an MMO. So I don’t know why you’re pointing that out to me.

And I also said that the WvW map completions are a test of patience for players who do not wish to play WvW or wish to map complete solo.

I’ve got map completion done on my only character that is level 80. I play slowly. I’m laughably bad at any form of PvP. I had the patience to get my map completion. I will likely get it on my other characters. Because it is not all that unreasonable to do.

And I sure hope WvW is still part of it when I do. Because there is something incredibly satisfying when I finish completing the WvW maps.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. World completion should have been divided.

You should have had Tyria completion as one achievement, mists completion as another achievement and if you get the both, you get an achievement called Master Mapper or Grand Master Cartographer (as in guild wars 1) or something else. I’d still make the gifts of the explorer available only to those who get the comboed title though. But I’d give different rewards for people who got the other two.

[Gives Vayne a cookie] This is a good idea. It should be relatively easy to program, and making more things for people to shoot for in an MMO is never a bad idea.

I kind of understand the idea of “forcing” people to do both PvE and WvW to get a Legendary — but then, I kind of don’t. Supposedly, the Gift of Mastery is intended to signify mastery of the game. However, there is no sPvP requirement. Also, one can purchase a legendary without having done anything in game but farmed Champs for months or whipping out the Amex Black. So much for mastery.

Well, you can’t take a legendary into sPvP, so I can see why that wouldn’t be a requirement.

Yea, it’s a measure of someone’s mastery. Just not necessarily the wielder. I wish they had not been made sellable on the TP. I’m personally going for one for the personal satisfaction of making my own. I don’t care if everyone else in the game thinks I farmed or bought gems to get it.

I understand that point of view. I also understand the point of view of those who might say, “I did it, others should have to if they want the Gifts.” I can also kind of understand ANet’s mentality. Hopefully, they like the game they produced and want players to experience all of it. There’s also the idea that Legendary was meant to be a long-term goal, so lowering the requirements is contrary to that design intent.

However, I also feel for those who dislike WvW, and especially for those who prefer WvW and hate PvE. These demographics are also customers, and also have the potential to spend money on gems, so denying them that one more thing to shoot for might not be in the games best interest long-term.

I’m not suggesting that anything related to the gifts changing.

I’m saying two NEW achievements be added. PvE Exploration and WvW Exploration. They each give their own unique titles. No gifts of exploration.

The current map exploration achievement turns into one like the ls or holiday meta achievements where it was do x achievements in this category. THIS achievement awards the Been There, Done That title and the gifts of exploration. So those aiming to make their own legendary still have to go into WvW.

As for those who are suggesting a split, I disagree, unless you have the non-instance stuff still get you Been There Done That and the Gifts, as those are the main reasons for completing everything, other than being OCD about percentages.

Most of us asking for a split here in this thread want 2 new ones ADDED, for a total of 3 map completion achievements. Not simply split the current achievement into 2. At least from what I’ve read.

So there would be PvE Exploration, WvW Exploration, AND PvE + WvW Exploration. The PvE + WvW exploration would be a “achieve 2 achievements from the Map Exploration category” achievement. And only PvE Exploration and WvW Exploration would fall under the Map Exploration category.

The Gifts of Exploration and the Been There, Done That title would be tied to the PvE + WvW Exploration achievement. So that part would not change.

I did WvW maps 99.9% solo. It was not 100% because I saw map chat pop up that they were headed to take a place I needed. I never once asked for help. It’s possible to do solo. It just takes a lot more patience to do so.

Unless you took down all the gates, defeated all the champions and capped the locations all on your own, I would argue that you didn’t do it solo. Your path had to be cleared by other players. I’m fine with that from a pvp perspective but, again, map completion is a personal reward. You shouldn’t need others to gain a personal reward.

It’s an MMO. By definition it’s a multiplayer game. You shouldn’t expect all aspects of the game to cater to solo players, heck you shouldn’t expect many aspects to. There will be things that require others to complete.

That said, they should add two new map completion achievements. Turn the current one into the achievements like the Meta tracking achievement for LS season 1. The two new ones should be PvE map exploration and WvW map exploration. And each should give a title. Mists Explorer for WvW and Cartographer for PvE maybe? With Been There, Done That for the ones who complete both as it is now.

The Gifts of Exploration come after both PvE and WvW ones are done (to not remove the only part of making a legendary that forces players to do more than pop into WvW to talk with a NPC).

That way players who do not wish to go into WvW don’t have to sit at 96% map completion. And WvW players who don’t feel like doing PvE map completion can at least get one map completion title. And have proof they have done it

Well, tbh, a lot of map completionists dont understand this one thing, wvw is not a solo game. Join a group/commander and take objectives, and you will get most of the things you need in a couple of days, maybe in a server that doesnt do well you have to wait for colours to rotate… But wvw map completion isn’t supposed to be like regular map completion, so removing other borderlands or eb makes no sense, where is the challenge if you just visit places you own? Objective of wvw is to take objectives.

The problem I have with your reasoning is that map completion is a personal achievement. What sense does it make to need a group in order to obtain a personal achievement? That’s like gathering 30 people to help you pick out a new car.

Refund character slots?

Can character slots be deleted from an account without a refund? I have severe OCD and this is something I would like to know because having too many slots can be a nightmare sometimes but I don’t want to make a new account and lose everything.

The reason they can’t refund used character slots is the fact that they have no tools to remove the character slots.

So the answer to your question is no.

’The character slots are not broken. ’

I never said they were – I DID say that I thought it was a pretty shanky case of classic bait and switch – I bet their precious ‘metics’ would tell then how much character slot buying increased after the adverts and blogs talking about now is the time to level again!, brand new improved levelling! – who buys character slots? mainly vets, certainly not some shiny new player (with 5 empty slots) – the sort that would be the ONLY recipient of the levelling changes ( and even then its questionable)

Don’t advertise to vets as you’re potential market to buy more slots for ‘brand new fun leveling’ IF in actual fact you’re levelling changes are geared to newbies.

Not so much as a friggin penny will drop from my wallet for this game from now on if that’s the attitude – if the patch wasn’t so bloody awful for vets then Dev’s wouldn’t be scrabbling to reverse some changes – which pretty much backs up my bait and switch argument.

It was marketed as a NEW Player Experience. Not an ALT Character Experience. Did you not see the forums before the patch was released that went: none of this for vets, do we not matter to you anymore?

I never once got the impression that this change was marketed towards me.

And it would be dumb to advertise a new leveling system that would affect everyone and not entice vets to buy more slots.

People PREDICTED the complaints the changes generated based on the blog posts! It’s not a bait and switch if it was written on the wall that these changes were coming.

Ive contacted them about this as it was not made clear atall pre patch that the levelling process was now geared to new players and highly gated – they had the cheek to reply telling me that I should learn to ‘exercise more care when making gem purchases’

If they cant ‘refund’ they could at least compensate – other than the ingame support tickets I sent is there nothing else I can do? because frankly I feel bloody ripped off and miss sold.

The character slots are not broken. The patch did not alter their function.

They can’t start compensating because people don’t want things anymore. Now of they had reduced the cap to 20 characters, then he could be set for a refund for the ones he had past 20.

Is this related to why the guild registrar NPCs no longer allow guild bank access? Very inconvenient, been wondering if it’s a bug.

They likely have to put the banks into a way that no one can add or remove items while they merge. They can’t easily merge two banks for a cross server guild of both sides have things being added and removed.

And it’s much easier to lock out everyone than to code in of the guild has a bank on more than one server.

I think you may have to unlock it on the first alt you play and after that all other alts will be unlocked. That’s how I’m reading it.

Or at least don’t be surprised if you have to unlock it on the first one. Who knows, the code may be in there properly and those who had level 80’s before the patch will have vistas and skill point challenges unlocked.

So whether they were banned fairly or not the system is bugged. Which is probably complicating their appeals.

So he’s saying consider the fact that you’re back to playing as quickly as you are and not still banned due to the bounced payment as your compensation for being banned. The quick removal of your ban is your compensation.

How to Devalue Berserker gear without Nerfing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Seera.5916

Seera.5916

The problem is that it isn’t just Berserker gear that has power.

Clerics gear has power. And I don’t know about you, but when I ran on Clerics armor with a build that took advantage of the boost to healing power, my DPS was laughably low. And now your change will drop that by 20%. Healing Power and Toughness have NOTHING to do with DPS at all. At least the stats with Precision or Ferocity or Condition Damage have other DPS related stats that would get a boost.

And all your change would do is change what gear is highly wanted. The meta people will calculate out the max DPS and announce it to the world. The world will then ask for that gear type. You don’t solve the problem. You just anger everyone who spent ages gearing their characters in ascended or you changed nothing if the meta remains at berserker. But it will not make the DPS of every build the same. It just won’t. There is absolutely no way to do that.

Little aggressive. Sometimes you can’t avoid fighting in front of a tower. Also, not everyone fights in groups and with 8 classes, there’s no guarantee that someone will have immobilise at that time.

Then treat this as a learning experience. When roaming, equip some immobilize skills. When in groups and nearing a tower, ask about those and make sure someone equips one.

The game shouldn’t have to adjust because you don’t want to have to counter elementalists.

What are you talking about? Vapor form is ready to use almost immediately after being downed. It’s not a learn to play issue if certain classes can’t counter it.

The offensive skills of every other class is a “block one stomp” attack, whereas mist form blocks all attacks for 3 seconds… and you can move… and you can go into a tower if it’s close… and then you can get back up.

So I switched Mist Form and Vapor form. Sue me.

I have to give up an offensive skill for Mist Form.

So what do you propose to give to the Ele to help it out with its situation. We have the lowest HP pool and we use the least protective armor.

Warriors on the other hand, have the highest HP pool, have access to the best protective armor, and have wonderful regen capabilities. Rangers pets can heal them while they continue to try to rally.

We have our escapes, warriors have their regen to keep them out of downed, rangers have their pets. When you can convince the majority of the warriors to give up their regen and the rangers to give up their pet heals, then come talk to use elementalists about giving up our escapes.

Key Farming (exploit) Y/N?

To echo what Gaile said in the aforementioned thread brought up by Healix, key farming is not considered an exploit.

You say its not an exploit, but you sure made it a much more time consuming process. I almost feel like this is the only reason you changed the story content, as there is no positives from limiting players from accessing content immediately upon starting the game… Its a real shame your going that route to trying to push people to pay for keys who were never going to buy them to begin with.

Just because something is not an exploit doesn’t mean that it is something that they would take into consideration when changing things.

They changed it because people said the story was too broken up. That people didn’t like having to wait a level between steps in a chapter. Was the way they solved that problem the best one, no, but it solved the problem. There are no breaks in between steps in a chapter anymore.

Riot (LoL) does something like that, but they don’t really take anyone full idea due to legal issues, but they do get inspired by them, so thats what i said from the beginning ANet doesn’t have to take 100% of what we say they can take 10% 5% of we want and make something thats better.

And then players will not make the connection and will claim ANet isn’t listening to them. That they got the suggestion all wrong. That they didn’t want X to happen, they wanted Y to happen. They picked the wrong little tidbit as the crucial piece in the suggestion.

And what you’re saying happens now. We suggest things, they implement things based on those suggestions.

April’s traits change is one such example. Players asked for GW1 like trait unlocking. Guess what we got? ANet already does this and they don’t have to make a thread specifically for it. These forums serves the purpose of your suggestion if amount and time frame for the release can be left up to ANet. Because it will turn into just what we have now. No need for ANet to waste resources. Very few of the employees are paid to post on the forums. That’s why Gaile’s posts in the Support section tend to be later at night and not mid day and why she tends to post in threads all around the same time in a particular day. Because she’s not paid to watch the forum and post. The moderators are, but only to moderate. They have no power on what is and what is not done with the game. They simply keep people following the rules.

The CDI’s may be company approved, but they are very likely also on the caveat that it doesn’t interfere with their other duties at work.

This suggestion system isn’t giving players control over what being released. Because its a suggestion, do you know what a suggestion is “an idea or plan put forward for consideration.” My whole idea and timelines can be changed by ANet I was giving the basic idea of a voting system that could help organize the suggestions, that makes the game move forward. Usually we don’t get any events/updates for a while, so most people get bored, if they use a suggestion every week and almost release something new almost every month, then their would be something new for everyone. Going back to my post how I said new profession, if a new profession came out, lots of people would make it and start playing the game again.

You’re not getting it.

ANY time frame for having things show up in game would be disastrous. Because problems arise that they literally can not plan around. Because unexpected things happen.

Unless it was a time frame known as when it is ready. And even that would be problematic.

Your post said that the chosen suggestion HAD TO BE implemented. Meaning that whatever gets put into the poll ceases to be a suggestion but a list of options. And none of the above is not an option. And the kicker is that ANet doesn’t get to decide which option is best. We do. And we players don’t know enough about the direction of this game and what is in development or being considered to choose what ANet adds.

And please don’t insult my intelligence. I know full well what a suggestion is and is not.

I do not want to have to complete the map to have full access to my character. Or give up skill points or karma or whatever to do so. It’s already BAD enough that when I have to level up alts, that the attuments and other such profession skills are locked behind levels. Now you’re telling me that I may have to suffer with getting water as my attunement as an Ele alt?

Please, go play Ele up to the level where you get water and then proceed to ONLY use the water attunement. For 10 days. because it would take 10 days to get the laurels to buy fire. Please tell me how effective you are at killing things. At getting credit in events.

Did you know that several water skills do no damage but are support and cc? And that those types of skills don’t grant credit for doing events?

No. Your suggestion is bad. There should be no forced grind to get full access to your characters’ skills. That’s why they added in the gold option for the skills to give another way to unlock the traits.

It’s why they’ve realized that the Utility and Elite skills now unlock too late in the game and will fixing that. Because they made it a grind to get full access.

@Seera i Actually wrote on a different paragraph but I guess you didnt see it. and i wrote it on a comment at the same time, the one u quoted and just starting talking. So again your argument is invalid.

Since you couldnt see a bold paragraph I reworded the whole thing so that idea is in the post

I saw the bolded paragraph. It said ANOTHER idea. Like the first was a good idea and so was the second. Your first idea was still poorly worded originally and gave the wrong impression.

My argument is not invalidated by the poor wording of your posts. Sorry, arguments don’t work that way.

And if they just delete the suggestions they don’t like customers will get all upset that ANet isn’t listening to us and is just going to wait until someone suggests something that they were already planning to add in order to make it look like they are listening to us.

We don’t know what they have in development at any stage short of what’s about to be released. So we can’t make relevant suggestions. Suggesting new race is pointless if they already have one in the pipeline. A better suggestion to go along with new race is new personal story chapters and a new map that aren’t tied to Living Story. Our characters go and meet the new race in the personal story. A month after that is released, then the new race is playable along with a few new maps. With its own personal story as the new race can’t really do the existing personal story.

But without knowing what they are already working on, us putting out ideas that ANet would have to work on if chosen is pointless. Until their corporate policy on talking to us about things they are working on changes, anything like this is just asking to open a can of worms with PR.

Possible bad PR scenarios:

1. Month goes by and players suggest nothing ANet wants to commit to. So they delete the posts and reopen the post. Players suggest the same things. Rinse repeat. Players start complaining that ANet isn’t willing to listen to us and is rejecting all suggestions because none of them fit in line and is just waiting for a suggestion that they are already working on so it makes them look like they are listening to us.

2. Players suggest something that ANet is willing to work on. Then unexpected issues crop up in development that mean it won’t be released in the short time frame required. Players go crazy over broken promises and how ANet just says one thing and does another. Current corporate policy would mean that once they accepted the suggestion they couldn’t talk about it so they can’t even say that it ran into hiccups and is still in the works.

3. If a good suggestion gets rejected by ANet players will start throwing out conspiracy theories of ANet only puts things into the poll if they are things they are currently within the time frame of releasing and just want player input on what to release first.

Giving players control over what is released and when is just asking for another PR disaster.

We wouldnt have that problem because like I said before, Anet isn’t stupid their not gonna add somthing delete it add somthing delete it. And if u take the idea as above they read them first they pick a couple they like and then we vote on that, their would be no problem.

I was replying on your suggestion in the OP.

Which is community provides the suggestions. Then we vote and the winner has to be implemented within one month.

While ANet might not be stupid enough to do that, we the community might as the community is heavily split on several topics.

Mounts is just one area that sees a lot of suggestions and a lot of people on both sides of the argument in.

Duels is another topic.

One month the suggestion options may be:

1. Mounts – add
2. Duels – add
3. Guild Halls – add
4. Random Topic 1
5. Random Topic 2

Mounts – add may win that month.

Next month:

1. Mounts – remove
2. Duels – add
3. Guild Halls – add
4. Random Topic 3
5. Random Topic 4

Then if Mounts – remove wins then ANet has one month to remove them under your proposal. Or the entire forum will be up in arms over another broken promise and another PR disaster when it comes to listening to us and communication. People with throw a conspiracy theory that ANet never listened to us, that mounts just came out coincidentally one month after they won the poll.

Now if ANet puts out broad suggestions for things the community wants them to work on then it would be fine. But we won’t get concrete suggestions due to their corporate policy at this point in time.

I said before, they have the suggestion pole open for a week, then they don’t let anyone post anything. ANet reads all the suggestions they pick the ones they like and then opens a vote polls that have the idea’s they like, after that we as the community vote. At the end we both win. So basically your argument is invalid.

Then your original post is very poorly written.

Because I read it as:

Community gives out suggestions. ANet takes those suggestions and puts them all into a poll and we vote. If that’s not your intention, please go back and reword your original post. Because if I’m reading it wrong, then there are likely others reading it wrong, too. And do you want to take the chance that ANet reads it like I read it?

The moment ANet doesn’t put in a suggestion (especially if it was one that was posted quite often), the community would claim ANet is just cherry picking and not listening to the community.

And many of our suggestions would likely take longer than a month to properly implement and I don’t know about you, but I’d rather something be properly implemented than rushed out buggy. Also, how would you get enough people to suggest quick to implement things to avoid the issue of time spent vs quality? This would only exacerbate the issue mentioned above about cherry picking.

Megaserver? I don’t care. I want RP.

So please tell me there is another de-facto RP realm in this game?
How do I get my family on the Tarnished Coast? If there is no way is there another RP friendly server?

EDIT: If anything please tel me the servers most associated with PvP… I want to avoid that like the plague.

There are no more servers anymore my friend, only chaos. Although, you should try Piken Square, it is…….was, the unofficial EU RP server of the game, until megamauler ripped it to shreads.

Good Luck, though… You’re gonna need it…

Try to join the server on a weekend day or late at night. It sometimes works (apparently).

“Sometimes” is the keyword here, as most of the time now, when people are “fewer” on the map, you get the good old “Your instance will close, move to a high populated area please” message.

I would not choose Piken Square as it is EU. OP is in the US I would imagine from their choice of server.

Not sure how much RP is done in WvW but if it was during prime time and there were queues to get in and the RP was not productive toward the goals of the majority be very very prepared for map chat to get ugly toward you.

But if the chances of you guys ever doing WvW is slim, I honestly would not bother transferring to another server or waiting too long to pick the first home server. And I would wait to transfer in until after the tournament. The players who just bandwagon to the server for the rewards may hop off.

Then here is what would happen. Month one add mounts gets voted top. The next month remove mounts gets voted. Then on and on and on again.

Nothing gets done a ANet is back to coming up with their own ideas because the players that want mounts and the players that don’t are equally as rabid about their side.

And what of something completely against the game gets voted in like more vertical progression by a series of trolls?

Sorry, this is not a good way for ANet to figure out what we want.

SUGGESTION: Change Volunteer's Blessing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Seera.5916

Seera.5916

When a map’s population gets low, the game decides to close it. If you are on that map, they will give you an hour to decide to voluntarily switch the a more populous map. If you elect to go, you are granted the Volunteer’s Blessing buff for 10 minutes:

  • +15% Movement Speed (PvE)
  • +5% Karma Gain
  • +10% Experience from kills

The Karma Gain and XP gain are fine. But the Movement Speed buff affects the way my character “handles”. If I am doing Jumping Puzzles, it really throws me off. I would love to see that particular bonus be changed to something that doesn’t directly change the way I play.

I had the same problem at the Festival of the Four Winds… whenever we successfully completed the Charged Crystal hunt, we were granted 10 minutes of increased movement speed. The Labyrinthine Cliffs are all about jumping, so it really messed me up for that period. I usually stood around yawning until the timer expired. I don’t want to have to do that in the general world, especially as often as those map closures seem to be coming. (It’s getting old fast).

I also have issues with speed boosts and jumping puzzles.

I learned jumping puzzles and distances without speed boosts. When I get them, my judgement gets off and I usually end up over jumping.

It’s already annoying to have to sit and wait when I get the 30 second varieties when other players pop off their speed boost skills close to me. 10 minutes, I’ll log off and go do something else if I’m in the middle of a jumping puzzle.

Do you really believe a new player cant handle a 2nd utility slot until they are 24? a third until they are 35? keep in mind 1 utility slot is exactly the same as any other utility slot, learning wise there is nothing more complex about picking a second utility than there was for picking a first slot.

They have admitted in one of the posts that the Utility and Elite skills got pushed back too far level wise. That will likely get fixed when they have had time to have pow wows about all the changes and how we’ve reacted to them.

Incredible patch timing

Le sigh. Do i have to spell it out for you guys? Are you the people the NPE was designed for? It’s a major event which hundreds of people prepare for and organise (through several languages) that is on a timer set by anet. Is it really to much to ask anet to respect their own major event timers? If the servers had remained up (as usual during a patch) there would likely have been no problems but no, servers down; daily chance at teq weapon skins gone. Not sure if i can make it any simpler to understand.

And I’d rather miss out on Teq for the day than have a patch delayed.

It’s ONE day. Are you really that OCD about doing Teq every day that missing one day due to ANet FIXING something is the end of the world?

Here’s what the patch fixed:

A door in Crucible of Eternity did not open. They fixed that. And they fixed an issue that caused the launcher to crash.

Is your ability to do Teq more important than some players ability to play the game at all? Was ANet supposed to email them and go: Sorry, we can’t take the server down and fix your issue because Teq is about to spawn.

I bet they’d get this in response by someone: I only have so long to play due to work, so take the server down and fix the issue.

Great points here and I think what I am hinting at is that if there was a way to maintain the current guild functionality of multiple guilds but also add a way to really commit to a singular guild what are the features old and new that you think are important for your basic guilds vs your, for lack of a better term, “home” guild.

Jon

That statement really fills me with dread. Please do not take anything currently available away from what I’ll call a non-primary guild, and if you are going to be adding functionality, please make sure that if it is something that grants any kind of in game advantage (access to raids, buffs, areas, gear, skins, whatever) that it is available to smaller guilds.

My primary guild is about a dozen active people and another dozen or two that we see occasionally. I’ve known most of these people for years before GW2, and gaming in the same MMO is mostly what keeps us together.

However, most of my primary guild is also member of another larger guild of maybe about 30 or so people that we do missions and other random things with frequently – it started because missions are (and remain) such an enormous pain to try to do as a small guild (seriously, try even a tier 1 bounty with 5 or 8 people online). Yet I’ve gotten to know some of this other guild and I want to keep playing with them.

Please don’t make me choose between the people I’ve known for years and some kind of game mechanics that penalizes me for not wanting to spend most of my time in a huge guild where you’re just another face in the crowd.

Point taken. I was simply asking as an exercise what are the things you really use on all your guilds vs the things you use on your primary guild and what QOL things that we talk about would be important to all guilds vs primary, because I think in order to make primary a meaningful choice it has to provide benefit beyond secondary guilds.

But the secondary guild of one person is the primary guild of another. The primary guild will be the one that fits the player the best. And that fit would be the benefit. That fits all guilds of all sizes and purposes.

Right, in now way would certain guilds be called primary and others secondary as a guild, it would be a rating you give that guild personally. For example:

  • I have a guild with my college friends that is my primary guild.
  • I am also in the ArenaNet guild.
  • For me I get extra functionality for my primary guild
  • Someone else might assign their primary guild to be the ArenaNet guild.
  • For them that additional functionality that helps attach them to that guild is tied to the ANet guild.

Here is a bad example of something I would be ok with as only being tied to primary guild:

  • When a guild completes a Guild mission it gains some rewards and when it has enough of these special rewards they are shared among all of the members of that guild who flagged it as their primary guild.

This example obviously has problems but that is sortof what I am talking about. Anyway I think I’ve talked enough about that issue. I’ll look for some other hot QOL issues to respond to now.

But what would that functionality be?

I could see it as part of the megaserver map assignment. If I’m in three guilds, A, B, and C and A is my primary and I go to a map and they are each on different shards, the assignment would prioritize a map with more members from guild A as that is my primary.

But anything tied to influence, merits, rewards etc is a bad idea.

As I said the rough proposal was intended to have some problems with it. However this problem is not as bad as you make it out to be as large guild must also share those rewards with more players.

I get that and I did offer one answer to my what functionality question. Megaserver shard placement. But I’m sure there are other functions.

Build + Gears Loader

Free: You can now easily save/load your favorite builds/gears for open world, pvp, wvw, dungeon paths by simply clicking on “Build/Gear Loader” icon at the top of your screen. It will pop up a menu that quickly lets you either load or save builds + gears. For example, if you load a build, it’ll load the traits, and it’ll also load armors + weapons + trinkets. The build/gear loader will know which armors/weapons/trinkets you want by referencing specific armor/weapon/trinket slot(s) that you chose when you originally saved the build. You get 1 additional armor/weapon/trinket storage set for free on patch day.

Gems: You can buy additional “armor storage – 6 slots per set”, “trinket storage – 6 slots per set”, and “weapon storage – 4 ground /2 water slots per set” for 600 gems. These slots are available to all of your characters in the same manner as the current armor/weapons/trinkets slot.

Wait! What if you want to load a build that uses ascended gears that you want to share across multiple characters? Let’s say you bought 5 additional armor storage sets. For example, while amor storage set 2 is empty (on all characters) , you can set it to “Account Bound Mode” or “Soul Bound Mode”. “Soul Bound Mode” means the slots on armor storage set 2 can only store soul bound items. “Account Bound Mode” means the slots on armor storage set 2 can only store account bound items. While armor storage set 2 is in “Account Bound Mode”, you won’t have a separate versions for each of your character, but you will only get 1 version for all of your characters. Now you can easily share ascended gears across all characters without having to move them back and forth!

What does this have to do with Guilds? Is this something you want tied to being in a guild or something? Not sure how you would tie guild membership into being able to purchase something from the gem store or not.

What about automatic guild tax ?

Anyone has suggested this function?

Sorry but i didn’t read the entire topic.

I’d rather an optional donation box.

Less chance of abuse that way. And less problematic when dealing with inactive members. I’d hate to take a two month break and find out that the guild leader in the middle got really greedy and dwindled my funds down.

commander tag refund?

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Seera.5916

Seera.5916

I’d have to agree with ClaraFee.2579. It seems a disservice to penalize obviously active and dedicated players who went ahead and purchased multiple tags for multiple toons by not allowing them to benefit in the same way that anyone else who had purchased compendiums prior to the patch did.

People who got 4 tags prior to the patch were not given 400 g back. They were given 100 g. Because 400 g – 300 g is 100 g.

They got the difference between what they paid and what it would cost them to get it after the patch.

What you and Clara are asking is for you guys to have to pay more for the usage of your tags on more than 1 or 2 characters. Because your difference would entitle ANet to more of your gold.

If anything those who bought 3 or more should be up in arms that those who bought 1 or 2 tags before the patch got to pay less.

What Colin said

Vayne, you seriously need to stop saying all these issues are bugs it isn’t true and you are spreading misconceptions in multiple threads by doing so. Colin himself quantified the bugs that are out there but a lot of this was gating and poorly times skill locks which isn’t a bug it’s a oversight, or unanticipated consequences. I’m not attacking you on this issue I just don’t think it’s fair to just try and place all these issues under the bug umbrella it’s flat out wrong.

As far as what Colin is said I’m happy to accept the results of what may change going forward and yes I have no doubt in my mind that some of it is back peddling despite the best intentions. At the end of the day if they make things right again for veteran players who don’t like this at all then that’ll be water under the bridge for most, me included, at least on this particular issue. The whole policy of not disclosing what’s on the docket for those of us who’ve been here supporting them for two years, well that’s another issue altogether.

Uh…. Vayne is not the one saying that these issues are bugs. He was simply quoting a post (copy /paste) from Colin. Only like the first sentence (ok 2) is from Vayne. Everything from “Hey Folks” onward is a Colin post. Use the link and check it.

Nor did the initial post say it was all bugs.

I saw that some were:

*Bugs – The guide pointing to higher level areas for new players
*Misinformation (hearsay or speculation from before the patch by players who haven’t played the new system or are trolling) – things like gathering and salvaging being level locked when they aren’t.
*Oversights – Elites and Utility skills being locked behind too high of a level.

He didn’t specify what percentage of things fall into this category or how many things aren’t working as intended or related to misinformation.

Refund gems for BLkeyfarm

You can’t get refunded for services you have already used – that includes items claimed by in-game mail but not deployed in-game.

Unrelated, but just a thought… Key farming is technically cheating to get items. “Technically.”

No I think that I should be able to get a refund, they took and changed the way the game worked thus making my purchase a waste and they have given refunds in the past. Its also my understanding that they are giving refunds on commander tags if you had bought more than three tags all over that would get the gold back. How would that be different from what I am asking?
Red’s posted before that they were ok with us BLkey farming and it In Fact was not Cheating as the time it took they thought was a reasonable trade off.

That being said your situation is different.

Wardrobe and commander tag related refunds are related to purchases rendered redundant. And you onyvgot the difference between cost before and cost after.

The cost of the items you bought did not effectively change due to patch making more than x purchases redundant.

ANet didn’t make 6 character slots the default number and didn’t give out a free golem or the wolf elite skill or the hero’s headband.

I don’t think your situation warrants a refund. Sorry.

It’s always interesting to see people go to all this trouble for virtual currency but not apply the same level of determination and discipline on say a stock market. A small investment taken far enough can make a healthy return

Doing what the people in GW2 do to make money would get you a 15-20 year jail sentence in most countries…

I don’t think Azrael’s talking about this instance specifically but the TP players in general.

How they spend so much time predicting what will go up and down and buying and selling accordingly. If they put that effort into the actual Stock Market and had enough starting cash, they could make a real fortune.

you’re basically advocating for what happened to Teq to happen a second time elsewhere.

I love the new Tequatl encounter

Tequatl is the only real dragon at the moment.

As detrimental as it would be to the playerbase, I wish every dragon was that hard without prior planning.

That’s selfish though. not everyone has 45 minutes to devote to extensive boss planning “for glory” or “valiance” or some other knight kitten.

Casuals have all the other world bosses (‘cept for Wurm) so I don’t think it’s unfair to ask for one or two more Tequatl like encounters. Claw of Jormag and The Shatterer in particular would be awesome.

And again with assuming casuals want easy content, ugh.

Hello, Casual here. I like Teq. I like Wurm. I don’t think any true world boss should be brainless stand and spam 1. They all need some adjustments. They don’t all need to be super kitten hard, some varying level of coordination and challenge would add some spice imo.

You probably aren’t casual if you can consistently log on 30 minutes before the event timer just to get into the right instance to run Wrum.

Casuals would say “I only have an hour or two to play, I am not spending half of that sitting around waiting for the boss to appear”.

That’s a different kind of casual. Me, I’m a casual. I’ve got plenty of time to get to teq and wurm with thirty minutes left on the timer and I usually have hours of free time.

I don’t have the desire to put forth the time and effort to learn and keep up with meta builds and the rotations needed to play them effectively.

Don’t assume that all casual players are that way due to lack of time. Some of us just don’t have the desire to be hardcore.

I don’t want to get too semantic but tracking timers and sitting around in zones for a boss to spawn isn’t any more casual than reading meta builds.

The defining aspect of a casual is that they aren’t planning their playtime. A casual mindset would be “Nothing good on TV tonight, guess I will hop onto GW2 for an hour or two before dinner”. That person isn’t going to track boss timers and sit around in zone for 30 minutes just to fight 1 boss.

And especially not if that boss doesn’t give anything good. Why track timers etc. etc. If you can just speedrun AC and get better loot? And you only need to spam 1 for that!

The type of casual I’m describing and that I fit into doesn’t have a time crunch and doesn’t have the desire to learn and follow the meta, though we may do so by accident or lack of desire to figure out our own build. We don’t fit the requirements for speed runs unless by pure accident. They play what’s fun for them regardless of if it is meta or not.

And they may find the Teq fight fun. So now since the event is on a set timer, they can set a phone alarm for X time each day and be reasonably sure it’s 30 minutes until it pops.

They don’t have the hour or couple of hours time limit on playing so spending 45 minutes to an hour in Sparkfly Fen for Teq isn’t a huge chunk of their time most days.

Stop assuming that all of us casuals are casual because of time issues. Some of us are casual by choice. Which means we can do things that are typically done by hardcore players only, if there is easy access. And there is easy access to Teq, especially now with the megaserver change putting Teq on a set time of day to spawn. It’s not like Teq is hard if you can listen to and follow directions.

you’re basically advocating for what happened to Teq to happen a second time elsewhere.

Grind is repetitive content done for whatever purpose.

Legendary weapons are not a grind because they don’t force you to do repetitive contents to get them.

Making a Legendary is a time sink. Your suggestion is grind.

This is the most ridiculous double-talk I’ve ever seen. Legendary Weapons in GW2 are a grind. You’ll be hard pressed to find any forum discussion about them that doesn’t say “grind” or “farm” in it. They are slightly less grindy than they used to be, but this doesn’t change the fact that at their core they are designed to be a ridiculously large item and time sink.

Where do you think all the Lodestones come from? From playing “how you want?”

It’s pretty amusing how people redefine words to suite their purposes. This is the definition of grinding.

Some of us aren’t really all that hung up with getting the legendary yesterday. And are content to let the materials needed trickle in.

But yes, if you actively try to get a legendary as quickly as you can, it will be a grind.

Yea, there is a group of us that does want challenging content but don’t need guaranteed better loot to get us to do it. For some of us, completing the challenging content and being able to say I did it, is reward enough. We’re likely not a very big group and probably include both hardcore and casual players to some degree.

But that is the problem in an MMO where content should be played more than once.
Extreme had content is sometimes nice when you beat it, but then you may say :
ok .. great i’ve done that .. but never ever again.

To say it clear : yes .. MMO endgame is always a kind of farm / grind where you do
repeat the same stuff again and again .. and mostly its better if you get better rewards
in shorter time.

Now the call for more challenge in the end always leads to the problem that people
think they are sooo much better players and for that reason they deserve to get
either “exclusive” stuff that 95% of the playerbase will never ever have a chance to get,
or simply they want at least to get significant more loot so that they can achieve
everything much faster than the rest of the players.

Like I said, there is a small portion of us players that do not care what things give out in terms of rewards. Yes, there is a point where challenging content isn’t challenging at all. And if nothing else that’s challenging for us is there, we’ll go do something else, be it in GW2 or not. But it’s not because it doesn’t offer a reward. Now if we have Choice A and Choice B and they’re equally challenging and fun to us, then yea, the reward would likely be the deciding factor, but it’s not our top priority. Being challenged and having fun are our top priorities. And getting rewarded doesn’t factor much into either challenging or fun for us.

And those of us casuals who don’t care about rewards will likely find challenging things challenging for a good long while. Because we either don’t have the time or the desire to really become super efficient or follow the meta.
