LOL! That is just rich coming from a JQ when they clearly created the most stacked server in the history of GW2. I was on SoS when you guys recruited like there was no tomorrow.
The intensity of tier 1 is like no other, so why would you want to lock it for other people? I myself, just transferred into tier 1 for the fights. Unless you are willing to give up your place in a tier 1 server, don’t post such rubbish. As for skill lag, it is a technical issue which just needs an upgrade of systems. I was worried about skill lag before I transferred in, but now that I am here, it doesn’t bother me much.

I think this thread was supposed to help eles, but I main a theif and now I know not to follow you into the water. :P

And lets strip elementalists of mist form finisher, warriors and guardians of stibility finisher, etc etc. Its a learn to play issue. Rule #1, don’t get downed. However, I am all for losing the downed state completely or reducing the health pool in downed state.
However, a theif will be even more OP in that case since it is possible to 2-shot some berserk professions.

Why is #1 so important? TC brings a lot of skill to every match. I’d rather settle for #2 and have a way more enjoyable match. SoS, please play for the fights and not ppt.

Metaphorically ofcourse. My point was, if SoS isn’t winning with a clear lead, people just don’t show up in WvW.

@ All the whiny SoS posts, what exactly do we want? To win by pvdooring every week by large margins or open field fights? In tier4 there were hardly any fights, leave alone open field fights. We would just jump from keep/tower to another to avoid any confrontations and pvdoor for points. It’s not like we are getting steamrolled by 100k points by both other two servers in this matchup. SoS is top of tier 3 material, so we can only expect to get matched up against a tier2(TC) and a tier3(Mag) server. I’m very sorry to say it, but SoS is a fickle server. If we are not winning by 100k points in a tier, we lose by 100k points week after week until we drop a tier and are then matched by lower tier servers which we can win without much effort or skill but just purely by a relatively very large militia. Maguma is actually in rating, top of tier 3, and we are ahead at the moment, so the match isn’t completely lopsided.

I see a nearly ideal DPS group right there. A mesmer, 2 warriors and a guardian for support. You guys seemed to be pretty organised. But you clearly don’t understand the issue here. It is a level 35 dungeon, the first explorable mode dungeon, do you seriously expected level 35 characters to fare this well?

Could someone who has crafted the gift of twilight help me? I am nearly done with the gift of metal, which is the last thing remaining for the gift of twilight, but I am not sure which sigil to use. Leeching or blood? On gw2 wiki it says blood and other places it says leeching. And if you look at twilight, it has a superior sigil of leeching. I am really confused.

I haven’t seen one Red Essence tag since this matchup begun. Are they still on DB?

To SoR, I don’t know if you guys are taking it easy on us and TC, but I think with transfers open again, you guys have one hell of a match coming up with BG. BG is currently trouncing JQ and DB and their points are nearly equal to yours even though you are fighting two very weak servers in comparison to JQ and DB(JQ especially). This morning BG was ticking 525 :O

My examinations just ended and I was quite sad I missed the opporunity to play much against FA and TC, but now we get to fight SoR and TC! Thank the RNGods!

Now my ideas are quite new, Bring in army soldiers, yeah, NPCs what can fight along players and follow make them vets or even better some kind of champions this would stop a large unbalanced zerg from rushing and these npc commanders… would only follow into open battle. Bases are elft to player teams and the already exsitant NPC vets.

I mean I love wvw, and have played hours and hours in the hundreds off it and you get into zerg fights and you kind of have fun and you don’t remember that maybe something should change about it all. But here it is. More strategy, less mass 1 skill spams and more NPCs and less ambients creatures and red NPCs if you want to help quell the taxation on servers for the NPC commanders in open combat.

Oh for goodness sake please stop trying to add PVE to WvW. And stop whining about balancing the population. You say you want more strategy, then get on TS, organise yourselves and you can easily wipe numbers double of yours. There is far less strategy involved in your idea of NPCs on each side. They are completely brainless. For example, if a theif stealths, NPCs just walk away. A human would never do that. You should care for the fights and not the scoreboard. At the begining of our matchup(FA/TC/SoS), we(SoS) was completely disorganised and we were getting steamrolled. TC and FA were both outmanned on our borderlands, and we were still on the defensive, at one point we were only holding 1 tower and 1 camp. Later that day itself we got oganised, adapted, and we are really enjoying our matchup even though we outmanned a lot of the time.

When was legendary armor released? :O

If those are all the WvW guilds we have, then SoS has one helluva militia!

It should be one badge per player kill, and nothing else.

A server can dominate and win a matchup without ever killing a single player. You can also spend hours at a time defending a keep and because you’re doing so, you never kill other players. You’re making the mistake of thinking WvW is soley PvP, it has elements of PvE and PvD too.

How can a server win a matchup by not killing a single person?
If WvW has PVE aspects, it should reward with PVE rewards. The PVE aspects of WvW shouldn’t reward with badges of honor, which is reserved for strictly the PVP aspect.

Logged on and SOS EB is not only in outmanned status but there are literally like 5 people on for well over an hour until the game went down for the update. I love how everyone on here LOVES it, yet WVW is becoming a ghost town.

Hi. I came from Eredon Terrace. Let me tell you, that SoS EB is no ghost town. I go to EB and I am delighted by the number of people I see there. I see queues all the time for SoS BL. It is awesome. I remain surprised when I don’t have the outmanned buff.

Yea that was the strength of our oceanics. If we could match our NA with oceanics, we would easily be a worthy opponent in tier 2.

Bumping this thread up. If anything, this matchup has proven SoS is tier 3 material at least. WvW dedicated guilds is what we really need to maintain a tier 3 spot.

To the FA ranger in FABL who just walked up to bay wrym gate with all the adds up in an alpha siege golem without any reinforcements, either that’s a. the cutest/sadest way to try and solo a keep as you didn’t even make it half way before you died, or b. shameful and disgusting you’re suiciding your own bl’s golems and can’t just jump them off a cliff like the rest of the trolls.

A TC guy did the same thing on TC BL. Walked right up to us outside bay in a golem, unprotected and hit #2. The best part is, we were attacking bay so i don’t know what he intended to do with the golem.

I am so proud to be part of SoS. It has not gained 1, not 2, but 3 whole ranks! Last time we fought in tier 2 it was when our spirit was completely broken but this time it is so different.

This has to be the most unbalanced matchup I’ve ever seen. The FA and TC folks that think it’s great to beat up on a T4 server… well, I don’t know what to say to you. I do know that ANET won’t be getting anymore GEM $ from me if things are like this. I want balanced North American fights, which SOS had until this last week.

Months of winning by by nearly 100k is not a balanced matchup either.

I understand ACs were made stronger because it was more realistic. If someone has aimed an AC at you, you need to move out, but if the damage is so minimal it doesn’t make a difference what you do. So I agree with the damage buff, how ever there are many aspects which are unreal. Like shooting an AC with no line of sight. Shooting arrows from behind the door and damaging seige and hitting playing. The point I am trying to make is, if you are using an AC, you should be prepared to take ranged hits from the opposition too.

I feel so sad for SBI. Just when they were going to move down to tier 5, which they were looking forward to, they get matched up against a monster server like DB which has pro guilds from JQ.

What kind of motivation should I have for telling my guild to get into WvW this week?

due to the tier 2 servers we’re facing, any effort put out by us will raise our rating and give us more of a chance to potentially fight in tier 1 where we’d get our spit stuffed in even more? A constant losing cycle doesn’t seem like what we should be striving for.

If you really want to change the dynamics of WvW, dissolve the EU servers and shuffle them into NA, as WvW is a 24-hour game anyways. Don’t just put little league teams in the professionals.

I was just going to say that. The rest of SoS is having a blast. Rarely do we see ques on our borderland, but this is one such time. TC is outmanned on our map and we are still getting wiped! This just couldn’t get any better. I am not being sarcastic. Fighting every week knowing your side is going to win by 80k became too stale. For the first time since we dropped to tier 4 we are being challenged. Thank you TC and FA for showing us how the pros do it.

FA playing with us(SoS). Just stacking and ranging us, and still managing to wipe us. This is by far one of the most interesting matchups for SoS in a long time

I just don’t understand how a ‘random’ matchmaking system will lead to ‘stable’ matchups. At the end of the previous matchup, things were as stable as it could be, but now we have unstable matches like SBI fighting DB and Maguuma. Don’t get me wrong, fighting new servers is hell lot of fun, but I am afraid in will destabilise the matchmaking further. An example, SBI, which was supposed to move down to tier 5 is now in tier 3. Not only is it losing by qutie a large margin, it is actually gaining rating points.
So, I would have to go with option 3

Getting wiped by TC’s and FA’s organised zergs non stop. Tier 4 has made SoS soft….
But, I am having way more fun than I did in the uneven SoS/CD/SBI matchup.

One problem which this random matchup will solve is PVEers migrating to whichever server has the biggest lead for PVE buffs.

I am so jealous of the EU servers now. It’s a complete battle royale with servers fighting themselves! I really hope we get a taste of that.

Trying to get people to use a teamspeak seemed like I was trying to explain quantum mechanics to a 4 year old, just got frustrating to the point where, last reset after getting wiped by a group of 50, I just said “Who else thinks this sucks?” Spent the weekend watching scores and told people to farm, moved on Tuesday. Guildies were at a breaking point.

Is it confirmed that the new matchup system will not take effect this reset? I am really looking forward to fighting EB, they are so OP for tier 5 that they might even be better than SoS
