Update on the Mordrem Invasion Event — 1:45 PM Pacific 9/10:
Some of you have asked about rewards for defeating the Mordrem during their attempts to invade Kessex Hills, Brisban Wildlands, and Diessa Plateau. Here’s some info from the dev team:
- Rewards scale with the number of Mordrem incursions you help defeat.
- There also is a daily map bonus for repelling invasions.
- Remember that a rewards issue currently is being addressed and we hope to have a fix for that soon.
- Rewards, if not received immediately, will be distributed to those who earned them in the next several days.
- NPCs will remain in place for a period of time after the event so that you can exchange blooms for items. An NPC will remain in the Priory for a few months, at least, so you’ll be able to make the exchanges you need to make.
Is the map wide bonus suppose to be 5? I got it that once so far, not sure if it was suppose to be from how many events I did, or the map wide bonus
Mordrem Invasion Update:
We know that some of you are experiencing issues with the Mordrem Invasion Event. A few notes:
- The team is aware of the issues and is working on a fix, which will be rolled out as soon as possible.
- Once this is live, we anticipate future incursions of the Mordrem will take place as planned, and rewards will be given as intended.
- Those who earned rewards and did not receive them will be given their rewards. This could take several days, so please allow time for this to happen.
Thanks for your patience as we work on the resolution of this issue.
So….are we really suppose to be getting only 5 blooms after each event when it doesnt bug out?

Anyone NOT planning on using the new specs??

- Warrior – Sadly no. When I heard berserker and torch, I was skeptical, but excited at least. Sadly, my definition of berserker and Anet’s differ, and it was a condition spec. Granted, warriors did need some love for a condition spec, but this wasn’t for me.
- Guardian – off and on. I like my support hammer guardian, but if I want to dps, I go the fire route with GS, and the same pretty much works if I go Dragon Hunter. So it depends on my mood.
- Revenant – I need to play more to decide
- Thief – not gonna lie, had fun with Daredevil. I really like the constant dodging you can pull off keeping vigor up, heal that gives endurance, signet for endurance, attacks restoring endurance, and a quick blinding powder to get away. Its fun.
- Necromancer – I like this specialization too, but I am unsure of a build with it, which I need to look into more to find that right “feel” of style of play for me.
- Mesmer – didn’t test sadly. Will look into next BWE
Sorry, what people said is true. Since Yak’s moved up, server constantly full
Quaggans talking annoy me
I agree with what some people have posted. Staff #2 feels clunky and poor targeting. Sometimes I tap 2 once, and the ability activated twice, thus I moved behind my target, and stuck in the animation till it finished.
According to me , mobs are still too stupid and tend to stay in AOE. Their damage is fine.
Nb: I managed to kill all minor champions alone . OP i think it’s more of a L2P issue here.(sorry)
So you can’t kill a major event champ alone?
Let me explain where I am going. You will say “No” because its a major event, more people there.
And when more people show, the event scales, mobs getting more HP and dealing more damage. At some point, with so many people showing up, the damage makes Defenses pointless.
During this past beta, I believe the events were scaling TOO well, and damage was TOO high, thus making using any defense gear pointless.
(edited by Serophous.9085)
I think the point he is trying to make is that the damage is so high that even on a tank build it wont make much a difference, therefore, you might as well be a squishy character that does high burst/alpha damage.
So lets say then I’m on a guardian with tanky gear, well I’m going to get one shot a lot because of lower health…so why try to tank if it yields little results? Does that make more sense to the people hung up on “zerker” ?
Whats the motive for tying tank? If its all ground effect stuffs why not just a squishy mobile class….see the point? There should be room for characters who want to be big lumbering tanks, not saying you should be able to stand there and spam auto attack, but there needs to be some results for being a tanky character who “knows he can waltz up to the champion and take the heat off the squishy dps characters”
Its more an entire style of gameplay that might be rendered pointless that I’m worried about.
Yes! This guy gets it!
Its entirely possible to build so you don’t get 1 shot and still have high dos. People have been so brainwashed by zerker meta that they seem to have forgotten how to mix stats for full effectiveness.
They weren’t one shotting me on guard and I was able to kill regular mobs in a timely fashion, as for elites and champs its the same scenario only it takes more people and a bit longer to kill.
If you want to go full zerk go for it but dont complain when you do get 1 shot.
As I figured, guard is a better tank, even having one on Live is great because I just go hammer and laugh how I just spam protection and lived.
and no, in major events I really doubt you would live as long as you could on Live.
Again, I believe its the scaling that is causing the problem here. Not Mob mechanics, but scaling of damage in an event based on people there.
The speedo needs change to a leopard skin speedo….
Just sayin….
Ok, i’m going to try and clear this up, again, to make it easier.
Yes, defenses work in the normal situations. You barely flinch. When you get to the big events with 3+ vets, multiple elites, champs, and boss, defense is worthless
Is it a L2P issue? Yes! I haven’t done HoT for 3yrs yet, I don’t know the enemy attacks that well yet, defense gear should be there to give me more time to learn in sacrifice of damage! Once I learn, get rid of the defense gear, go full damage!
Should a boss kick my teeth in? Sure, fine. I’m sorry I had to waste my dodges on the two elites attacking me because then I would’ve went down, so I didn’t have the endurance to dodge his one shot attack, sorry. Once I learn the encounter, I will most likely know to just move away from the boss completely till these constantly spawning mobs go on to someone else so I can just dps the boss.
So again, in major events, defensive gear isn’t doing its job. And once again, if damage is so high that defense doesn’t matter, then why go defensive at all?
I just believe scaling needs to be looked at here.
If your in zerker gear, you will get 1 shot by a lot of things. That’s expected. If you have high toughness/vitality, you won’t be. The different between getting 1 shot and 2 shot is huge, because one allows ‘mistakes’ and one doesn’t.
If its dumbed down again, we are going to repeat history and thats going to look really, really bad for the next expansion. Hell, if that happens again there might not even be a next expansion.
No. In major events, Defenses DO NOT matter. You will down in the same amount of shots as zerker, no matter your defenses. Thus, defenses DO NOT matter, so just go zerker.
If you make damage too high that defenses don’t matter, defenses are useless so go full damage. If you make damage too low, defenses are useless, go damage.
As said before, stacking defense should be there to allow mistakes to happen and to learn. If you still can’t grasp fights, then stay in the gear, that’s fine, I’m all for that. But if the mob is going to two shot you anyway in defense gear, what’s the point?
Yes, in the learning process, I do get one shotted against normal mobs at times at this stage because I don’t know the tells exactly. But once I do, then I’m not going to die and I can kill fast. Its like the karkas. Dodge the initial shots, you’ll be fine.
I agree with going defense until I learn. Once I learn, go zerk.
I found that it is a matter of knowing the mobs, you can still die but you reduce the chances.
Champ giant toads have the same type of attack as husks at tripple wurm, stun then punch. If you avoid the stun you avoid the punch and take no damage.
Champ tree frogs have an aoe killer attack that is easily hidden in visual effects, but if you do spot it then again zero damage.
Wyvern, stay to the side to avid the knockdown and flame breath.
Smoke thingies, draw them out of the red circles since they take no damage in it, their damage has been reduced in their mist attack so fairly easy now.
Snipers —dodge, put up a reflect if you have one, break line of sight if you don’t.
Which again, proves my point of defense not mattering.
To me, when someone uses defense gear, it means they are increasing the forgivability in making a mistake. “Oops, I didn’t dodge that attack. Well, at least I didn’t lose 3/4 my hp and just 1/4, be ready next time.” If they continue to make those mistakes, then they are gonna die no matter what, despite defenses.
Now, when they get better, learn the encounters more, then they feel more confident in their abilities and may think of going more damage. This is actually how I played the game up to this point. My main set of gear use to be knight’s, because I still wanted defenses. But Once I learned the encounter’s, I went full zerk. I knew when and how to dodge, when i could take a hit, etc, that defenses weren’t that important anymore.
Chances are, once HoT comes out, I may go more defensive again until I learn what to expect (or go my Daredevil build and laugh as I dodge everything and be glass cannon).
But right now, that doesn’t matter, because during the learning, I’m dying even in defense. There’s no point in me even trying it, I might as well learn in zerk gear. Which, according to at least my theory, is wrong.
So like I said, I think the scaling damage needs to be looked at in events.
DURING MAJOR EVENTS! (phew!)
Now, before you go and yell at me and throw tomatoes. Here me out.
The damage of Mobs is way too high at the moment, especially on the vets, elites, and champs.
Now, testing in zerker I thought “yeah, i have no defenses, course I’m gonna die fast.” But then I thought, huh, well, if that’s true, then I should be able to live more easily in Toughness gear at least.
Boy was I wrong.
I went with warrior Defense/Tactics/Strength, shout heals, healing regen, etc. Just went straight up as much survivability I could grab. Then i took soldier’s gear. Heals would be crap, but I got my hp and toughness. Dolyak runes. The celestial food buff. Dolyak signet.
Armor: 3605 if I get retaliation, 4005 if reviving and have retaliation.
HP: 33,170
Now, going against normal mobs not from events, or a defense event where maybe a few vets at a time, sure, you’re gonna brush that stuff off easily. I don’t think I got below half hp.
But when you get to the big event chains, final event chains with a champ or Unique?
It. Doesn’t. Matter.
The Boss is gonna destroy you if you don’t dodge his attacks, while dodging his elite minion’s attacks at the same time too, and then the 3-4 vets, etc. You are gonna go down in 2-3 hits. Defenses don’t matter.
Now, I am going to repeat that. Soloing stuff, the armor is doing its job. I’m basically untouchable as long as I don’t pull too many vets (the poison frogs to be exact). But when i get into the event chains, there is no point. I’m going to go down just as fast as that other person in full zerk, which makes ME the weak chain of the group, because I can’t deal damage.
So, let me say this:
Making mobs difficult, is fine. Hitting a bit harder, sure. different mechanics, fine. I like how the poison arrow frogs work, and the one that slams into the ground, and so on. These are interesting to watch out for, and if you don’t, you will die. The difference is, when you get to the bigger group event stuff, it goes from fun and difficult, to absurd. When it goes to that level, defenses doesn’t matter, it becomes again “kill fast”.
So, yes. Damage in group events need to take a look at. Maybe the scaling is too high, maybe mobs are spawning too much, who knows? But at the moment, if I want to do a major event chain, go zerk.
To be honest, after playing through the LS2 and getting to use Caithe’s weapon skills, I was really hoping we’d get them. However… I have a condi thief using venoms and SB so DD is just not going to do anything for me with the staff or adept/master traits. I really like the jumping lotus that applies more conditions, however, but it feels painful to take the traitline just for that (I would have to sacrifice Trickery and lose out on my stealing-poison and everything around that).
I guess I was expecting elite specs to work well with any other build in some way. The only physical skill of use is the impairing daggers one, which is a good substitution for either ice drake or devourer since they do little but the others do not aid a condi build any.
It would have been neat if they had a line (sticking to that line theme they have) for condi, power, and support/survivability.
I disagree that while it may not use poisons, but condition DD will still fair well, it will just be dodging more to spread Caltrops and Impaling lotus.
Daredevil is looking to be in a good position come expansion with how it does so easily mesh with other trait lines.
T1 –
Evasive Empowerment: more damage upon dodging (which you can do a lot of)
Weakening strikes: if you go crit, good chance to keep weakened
Brawler’s Tenacity: cast physicals more, dodge more.
T2
Staff Master – does limit you to staff, so yes, not worth much to any other spec.
Escapist’s Absolution – depending on your build, that can be very powerful
Impacting disruption – probably the second weakest, since I don’t believe thieves have many interrupts.
T3
Impaling Lotus – God is this trait good for spamming conditions with dodging.
Unhindered combatant – I see it more as a disengage from combat to reset the fight, not to mention swiftness.
Bounding Dodger – warriors wish they had this instead of the wimpy trait they have now. But it at leaves gives a more AOE option
I don’t know, I see Daredevil working well with Trickery, with spamming Caltrops, and able to gain vigor on stealing, you can be a dodging machine.
That information is being kept close to the chest of Anet. They don’t want price fluctuations going on in the main game from info from the beta. Hence why you dont see the legendary crafting mastery,

What I am trying to say is, its not only the Berserker spec that seems so limited, its all of the warriors specs (I am using warrior as an example right now). And when compared to something like the Thief profession, there just ISN’T as much customization. In whole, many of the talent trees across all professions are still a jumbled mess (I was having the same problems with Guardians and Dragon Hunter).
I’m going to do something long and controversial here. I’m going to go over all the talents as a warrior, picking out which ones don’t seem to fit their tree.
Strength - I see this as the damage tree. You aren’t looking so much for conditions, but ways to bolster your strength and deal damage, be it with your body or weapon.
- Building momentum – I hit you so hard I can dodge more…?
- Body Blow – The weakness sure, but the bleeds, I guess I hit them so hard, internal bleeding, but…nothing else in this tree deals with that
- Stick and Move – Not sure how “having less energy” lets me hit harder…
Arms - A spec that seems to focus more on the skill with weapons
- Berserker’s Fury – Doesn’t this seem more for Strength, and not Arms? What does this deal with weapons?
- Opportunist – seems more Tactical than Arms.
Tactics - using your skills to command the field and outsmart the enemy
- Quick Breathing – Seems more for Arms, but at the same time, is like telling your companions to move so…mixed…
- Burning Arrows – Really seems like a skill for arms, as it just deals with how to use a weapon
Defense - I am an immovable object
- Shield master – Perhaps not might, but damage reduction?
Discipline - Training ones body to react to situations through patience and hard work.
- Crack shot – if not for the name, i would say sounds like an Arms talent
- Inspiring Battle Standard – Seems more like Tactics
- Brawler’s Recovery – Would almost say a Defense really
- Burst Mastery – Seems more Strength based.
This is a lot to read, so I am gonna try to do a quick suggestion and summary:
Berserker Suggestions
- Smash Brawler – The less health you have, the more damage you do
- Bloody Roar – Redesign completely a few ways:
1. Gain Might and fear enemies instead of taunt and bleed
2. Undying Warrior – Can activate Vengeance immediately upon being downed
3. Unbridled Rage – Gain increased damage when in Rage
Summary
In the end, some numbers need adjusting at this time. But the bigger problem still lies in the specializations meshing the the rest of the talents available to them. So far, thieves seem to be in a good place for this with the addition of Daredevil, so hopefully other professions can be looked at as well and made more inclusive.

Feedback Test, Day 1 (mostly on talent trees)
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I know, a day late, meant for this to be last night, but RL issues.
Anyway, My primary focus for the first day was working with Warrior’s Berserker and Daredevil, testing different builds and combinations. I also avoided other posts at the time so my impressions weren’t tainted.
I’m also going to note something that will most likely NOT be fixed before release, but it’s something I think Anet needs to look at for future builds and specializations (and yes, this will mostly talk about Builds at the end).
Berserker
- Entering Zerk-mode itself
Not that hard really, you can gain the adrenaline pretty fast if you spec for it, and use the new Rage skills. But then, that’s where the problem is. I can figure Anet doesnt want you in full zerk mode all the time, but the 15 sec CD just seems so long to be out of it. I think a few seconds need to be shaved off, 3 at minimum, 5 at the most.
And the attack speed increase seems just “eh” for what it is. To me, when I think of someone going berserk, they are pushing their natural boundaries, gaining inhumane strength, speed, and endurance. I’m getting the speed part mostly (I think the attack speed could be increased a bit to maybe 15%), but other than that, not really. I’m thinking, maybe a 5% damage boost, but, this goes more with something else I will talk about a the bottom.
- I’m not sure how many people were able to figure out to right click to go over what the F1 skills changed to.
As mine says “Mouse 2 : Show more info” perhaps like “: to scroll through, or something”
- Are the Zerking F1s suppose to deal less damage than normal F1s?
Going through the burst skills, yes, they all seem to do less damage than their normal forms. Example, zerk decapitate = normal axe burst lv 2. And I understand this is probably for balance reasons, since you only need one bar to fill, and its on shorter CD, but at most you are going to spam it twice with one weapon, maybe 4 with weapon swap and traits.
- Torch attacks still seem too slow, even in zerk mode.
They just seem too long to activate to attack with
*Sundering Leap
I think the distance can be increased. Maybe 800?
*Dual Wielding Talent (Arms, T3)
- Add torch to list possibly?
- Blood Reckoning
Heal seems weak. Can’t really tell if even healing a lot with conditions, especially in large group battles with more conditions applied.
*The voices for charr in zerk mode are laughable
I’m sorry, I laughed at them when any emotes of “No!” (I think that’s what was said), it just sounded so…deadpan and unemotional. And “I’ll destroy you all!” wasn’t any better. I’m sorry, but I didn’t feel my character was sounding like a raging berserker.
Daredevil
Wow, where do I begin with this…just…I had so much fun with this. I honestly wasn’t expecting this with this class, as I don’t even main thief, but just…wow. Its active, fun, and STUPID GOOD. And I thought “ok, they have to nerf this somehow” and that’s when it hit me.
Daredevil is so stupid good, because it can synergize with every other talent tree, giving you the perfect unique character creation for yourself.
Look at Daredevil itself:
*Enforcer Training – more dodge, sure.
- Evasive empowerment – yep, can work in other builds, flat damage bonus when dodging.
- Weakening Strikes – weakness on crit, yep, works in other builds
- Heal when dodge – sure
- Escapist’s Absolution – yep, works with other builds
- Pulmonary Impact – probably least likely to work well, but can still work
*Endurance thief – good for any spec - Impaling Lotus – Oh god yes
- Dash – great for escapes
- Bound – deals more than the warrior’s version
I found my favorite to be Acrobatics, trickery, daredevil. I was using a staff, but really, I didn’t HAVE to. I could go dagger/sword, dagger/dagger, or pistol (though, imo pistol weapons need redone, since not many talents working for them). And it would be MY playstyle.
When I realized this, I was shocked. It was like I was suddenly playing a whole new game with customability with a class. I had to stop myself from changing to so many different builds.
And I know someone here will post about “well max damage and…” I’m not talking about damage by the numbers, I’m talking about when I say “I want my thief to do this”, I can almost find the exact build I want there.
Let’s go back to berserker. The first minor trait. Some of the primal burst are fine, like the axe, hammer, and mace. They at least add the effect “hey, you may lose some damage, but you gain some neat effects!”. While the others are “yeah, you get some unique effects, but FIRE FIRE FIRE!”
Let me give an example of taking my current warriors GS / Axe and mace build, and seeing if it can work with Berserker. Right now, I’m Strength/Arms/Discpline. Most likely, I would drop Arms for Berserker. I’m not looking for condition damage much at all, I’m going for straight up, in your face smashing.
The first minor talent already half fails me. Sure, decapitate is nice, but the fire ring for GS? Eh. Well, arms had bleeds, this should be ok maybe…
Tier 1 – Smash Brawler. Well…maybe in dungeons this could be good, but the new group content, a lot of stuff isn’t dying fast enough to get much use out of it. Last Blaze – condition damage, not looking for this, but I definately want to use Sundering leap though. Savage Instinct – well, its a “shake it off” cept just for me personally. So this tier really doesn’t give me anything I want.
Always Angry – Sure! This is great!
Tier 2 – Blood Reaction – Wow, this is right up my alley! Heat the Soul – well, torches do need SOME talents specific to them at least, but this isn’t for me. Dead or Alive – hm, situational, but I like that if I am having a hard time surviving.
Fatal Frenzy – Sure, works.
Tier 3 – Bloody Roar – Not really, again, condition damage. Maybe if I dropped Discipline and kept arms, sure, but not what I’m looking for. King of Fires – Nope. Eternal Champion – Not bad but…there is nothing for me here.
So, in the end, I’m going to stick to my old build. Sure, I can possibly try a condition spec GS now., but…I’m saddened that other than the minors and one major, there is nothing that could match.
And maybe that is just it. Berserker isn’t meant to be a “in your face, smasher” specialization, but is just that, a condition spec.
Cont….
…that Anet offices will be replacing water coolers with anvils supplied with taps at the ends to get fresh players’ tears for cups and water bottles when raiding comes out.
Confirm or deny?
Only heard about Angry Joe months after I had the game.
Now if he does a video to draw in P4F players who join his “army”, they it’ll be interesting.
Eh, I get he’s popular, but I only view him off and on, and he wasn’t the one to get me to GW2.
I prefer yahtzee and his passive-aggressiveness.
Not to mention, running away to join the circus while controlling and summoning beings from the underworld to do menial tasks? sounds good to me!
Look, I think people are taking this a bit too far in the idea of “yeah! screw casuals!”
I don’t see it as that, just right now, Raids are the FIRST to get the unique legendary armor. Do you people really believe there will ONLY be one set of legendary armor for each armor type? Somehow, I really really doubt it.
Spvp has some unique rewards only available to spvp. Which is fine. Raids will have their own now. Somehow, I wouldn’t be surprised down the road that fractals may get some unique rewards, crafting get some unique rewards, long quest chains (ala the legendary crafting), and so on.
Its just right now, raids are first.
My only problem with this is ONCE A WEEK.
I really really hate that part….
I like those groups that post a required AP thats way less than mine. I join, see theirs, then tell them I don’t feel like being hampered by their badness.
AP is a stupid way to determine skill
Mr Glass. I’ve been there. A lot. My guild and I used to post LFGs looking for 1-2 more people and we’d always say that we want a complete, non exploitative run and that we’re not zerker meta players.
9/10 times we get the zerkers join our party, demand that we skip, threaten to report us and try to kick people from the group we started.
Yeah… This is pretty much what the “meta mentality” is.
9/10 I make a LFG inviting all and I never have threats like that and we go at a normal steady pace.
I have the same problems as the OP. It is why I say that the whole “just make your own LFG” argument is a lie. It just plain doesn’t work.
Works for me
As said before, Anet is pretty dead set on getting HoT ready by the 23rd, so little to no room to add new stuff or update.
Will we get Halloween? Most likely yes. Will it be different? Most likely no.
dungeons and fractals didn’t create the zerk meta.
Players created the zerk meta because they realized “hey, this is easier and faster if we just all speed clear”
Hello CoF p1
TImey-whimey….yada yada yada…
Agreed.
I like it, it looks good. But…outfit….ugh….
I prefer to stomp my feet and hold my breath until I turn blue, but whatever floats your boat.
Says you.
I rather fall out my back, scream to the heavens till my face turns red while kicking my legs widely at different times, or if someone approaches me.
Please Anet, tell us it’s a joke.
Which part?
Both, F2P and raids are both horribly bad for a games community, either one is capable is bringing a game to its knees on its own. To do both at the same time….I can see a shark tank and what looks like GW2 about to jump it.
I’m not worried about raids, myself.
Remember that announcement about the changes to Fractals? How they want to lower the barrier of entry and lower the time commitment for individual Fractal runs? That makes even more sense if they’re adding raids, which will require larger groups and longer time commitments.
They’ve already confirmed there’ll be no gear tier beyond ascended in Heart of Thorns, so the gear treadmill aspect of raids in other MMOs won’t be an issue.
My guess is it’ll look a lot like the elite missions from GW1’s Factions campaign—extra-long, more difficult dungeons that require a larger-than-normal party and offer higher-than-normal rewards. Raids don’t worry me at all.
F2P is a different story. It could be botched easily, but it could also be handled well. It all remains to be seen.
Funny you should mention this.
There was a post in the Raid CDI about legendary gear in raids, and how it could also be fair to get them without raiding, but differently, and at the same time, same difficulty.
As for the F2P thing, I suspect poor wording in that you get the base game FREE with your purchase of HoT. So play the core game for “Free” now, if you buy HoT at this moment.
Dragonhunter, Berserker, Daredevil… who is coming up with these names?!? Dragonhunter and Berserker are so generic, might as well have been from any lame fantasy game. Daredevil.. someone watched the show too much!
You thought of the show, I remember the horrible movie…
Quick! someone take some form of name of Ben Affleck!
I got your theme song right here!

ANet said no new gear tiers, then they added Ascended. Almost three years later with no new gear, so I think it’s a safe bet that Ascended will be it for while, possibly forever.
the only new tier that could be introduced would be legendary gear. In which case, it works as legendary weapons; same stats as ascended, but you can change them outside of combat.
I would also like to thank you for summing up all of these points. This is a great list, and to make sure it remains visible through the next Beta Weekend Event, I’m going to go ahead and sticky this thread.
Also, thanks to everybody for keeping in mind that these betas are indeed meant for testing and our developers will be reading and making changes based on the feedback they receive from these weekend events.
cool! thanks a lot Mark!

No mention of the achievements working and giving you permanent rewards means another weekend of ‘you lose whatever you do’. Which means another weekend of ‘I logged in as the new classes, played around a little, and then went back to the game that rewards me for playing’.
Edit: mm I sound bitter, but I’m not. I’m telling ANet why they they might be getting less user feedback then they may hope.
What makes you think they’re getting less user feed back than they hope?
Not gunna bother carefully going over events and reporting feedback if there is no point. I’ll check the classes I’m interested in and then go back to actually earning rewards.
There is a point. You help create a better game. I don’t understand what you thought a beta was suppose to be about

Beta testing isn’t for permanent rewards. Its for testing and providing feedback.
I’m sorry you didn’t realize that.
No I wasn’t, your topic is misleading. I assumed (incorrectly) that this was a list you were presenting.
I included the link to the blog post, since I can only have so many characters in the topic, hopefully now people will read the initial paragraph and understand it better, and not be mislead.
What about the WvW stuff ? Provided the new map is open for play.
Your final point is something to worry about in regards to WvW. It’s a good list but try not to cherry pick the parts of the game that are important to you.
…..
you do know this was all from their blog post, right?
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-second-beta-weekend-event-begins-september-4/
Anet asked the testers to check out these areas during the next BWE (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-second-beta-weekend-event-begins-september-4/). I’d thought I post it up in bullet form so its easier to read, and add a few that are no brainers, but still work for a checklist. I’d suggest keeping a notepad beside you as you test.

Eh, I just wish they allowed it to either buy each piece of armor seperately, or as a bundle with discount price.
example: each piece costing 70 gems, but get the whole thing for 400 gems. Save 20 (numbers were made up off of the top of my head).
Have you tried turning Lion’s Arch on and off?
If that doesnt work, must be a bug, as I’ve noticed longer load times for my characters going to LA.
The problem is many people think blind mechanics make the game and forget about the part where they must play it first. In other words, some people adopt the meta without knowing how to play it, and then blame their own failure on something (or someone) else. They think meta = sure win.
I understand you, horvgab. The “not enough dps” excuse is very, very common, and the worst part is, in some cases is actually true.
And, although the “make your own group” is the best we can do to avoid the problem, the problem still exists: there is a “zerker religion” in the game, wich ocassionally sprouts zealots that see pure DPS as the only way to play the game, EVEN WHEN THEY THEMSELVES CAN’T PLAY IT PROPERLY. I haven’t had too much problems with them, but the few times that I did, have been really bad experiences.
Why is this a problem for Anet? Because giving people with fanatical ideas tools to support them is never worth it. A rigid and long lived meta creates rigid behaviours, and that gives birth to elitism, bad manners and grief.
I think Anet is making the effort to answer this, though. All the new content, while very forgiving with Zerk fans, looks also very “not zerker oriented” to me.
Lets wait and see.
Ugh….I’m just gonna say this and you can imagine my head slammed against a desk.
“There will always be a meta. If you destroy one meta, another meta will rise and become the new meta, and the cycle continues.”
At the start of the game, there most likely were very much less zerkers than there are today (I was using Knights for the longest time). Why? Because many people know how to do the content well enough they can class cannon to get it done faster.
And you know what? You are right. Playing in the beta, I was dying a lot in my zerk gear, until I started learning the attack patterns of monsters and what to expect. Then I was able to zerk it full time until I became overwhelmed in some events (lack of bodies really). So already I can see the pattern repeating.
And yes, people are jerks on the internet and video games. SURPRISE! Each game has pure zealots in it. Heck, look at WoW players who say the game is still fantastic and other people just don’t get it.
I found a solution to the “issue” which is in the image attached that I saw on reddit.
Just popping back to say that this was originally made for the original post the OP made two days ago. I find it amusing that it’s come back around
Because its the most obvious solution to this “problem”. Again, it relies on people to take the initiative in creating their OWN GROUP, rather than just complaining that they cant join others.
Here’s my theory on it….
There are people out there who don’t join guilds because it can be seen as a hassle or annoyance when playing the game. Although its an MMO, they still want to see how far they can go as a solo player, rather than group. The only compromise they find is doing dungeons with other people because, well, its not solo content (or meant to be).
Now, everyone think back to the first year of GW2, or better yet, look at what was posted much back then. A lot were about bugs and stuff, then ascended gear, then the loot nerf “bug”, and on and on. But one thing was requested and hounded for because it would make the game so much better for dungeons…
A LFG TOOL! Because ALL MMOs need that now!
And we got it, not in an automated way, you still had to pick the group yourself. But you could put in what you wanted in the description. And thats when people started seeing more and more “Zerker warrior and mesmer” speed runs in CoF, etc. And it was a VERY efficient way to make gold (till the locks happened).
And sadly, if you didnt have zerk gear because you didn’t like that playstyle, you were instant kicked (or not a specific class, etc). Was this right? No. Were they allowed to do this? Well, yes, sorry. (granted i mean kicking before entering the instance, or if someone is just being a pain by dying to everything and dragging the team down, it can warrent a kick during the instance. But kicking at the final boss I do not stand behind.)
But people seem bent on just JOINING an already made party, rather than MAKING THEIR OWN. That option is there, and I do it all the time when I want to run a dungeon. I just put “all welcomed” and poof! Instant party (except in the cases of the lesser run dungeons, they can take some time).
But please people, please. This works. You get your group and you get to do a dungeon. If you join a guild, that gives you another option to find players.
There will always, ALWAYS be a meta in a video game. Even if zerker falls from the meta, another will pop up, and the complaints can start again. It never ends.
In closing, just try forming your own groups, and stop caring about what others think of you. You’ll be a lot happier playing the game.
Well, not too bad at all. Over time that’s going to give me (and others) a chance at some of the most expensive, out of reach dyes in the game. The level 30 scroll though…. I guess I’ll use one on my Rev then I don’t know after that. My key runners I guess. The teleports will probably be of situational use. If I’m going to get 5 eventually for all my chars, I guess I can use them frivolously sometimes.
Thank you ANet. A very nice birthday present.
I can see the teleports becoming more useful since they are going more towards the route in zones crafted like Silverwastes.
Fewer Places to teleport to.
So its a way to at least say “Hey! someone near area X party with me real fast!”
In three years, I’ve only gotten TWO.
People getting them so much a month…lucky…
I have to admit though, if I was someone who had a 1000 plus gold dye listed to sell, I would be upset. I wonder how long it will be before we see the first angry thread on the forum from one of the sellers of the ultra expensive dyes.
Hi, I’m not angry at all about it.
Honestly, I’m not complaining, and I have some of the dyes on the market.
I’m glad that this is actually a birthday gift that people can actually like.
@serophous sir that looks freaking awesome!
So I guess I won :p
P.S. Anet, please make it possible for Top Hat AND Monocle together!
And my current for my female charr mesmer does work on the male, just more expensive.
