I’d like a trait that uses Protection against the foe by making them suffer more damage. Give those pompous Guardians a reason to think twice.
ITT: People argue because of a whopping 5.
Exotics are still the top for armor. Accessories have ascended quality stuff, but at the moment you don’t need them for most content. For now. >_>
Do we actually know if there isn’t a hard cap on the possible amount of damage reduction anyway?
guesting isnt the problem;
overly rewarding facerollable open world events on timers are.its time to start thinking guys….
I’d agree with this also, although I think it is a combination.
Well to be fair due to the horrible lag and culling I don’t normally see much of ANYTHING in that zone when the dragon is up and more often than not also end up stuck in the ground as soon as I WP in, so I don’t hang around all that long. If it’s just people getting killed by enemies they cant’ see or react to, I’m glad I missed it. >_>
You forgot to say that it’s “overbuffed” IN YOUR OPINION, hurr durr!
I still haven’t seen this event. It’s never been up when I’m in the zone. I can’t wait to see the ocean of downed players from a bunch of krait though, haha.
I’m sick of people popping around and causing the massive overpopulation in zones myself. The dragon fights have been nothing short of awful to the point where it’s not even worth the annoyance of sitting through an entire Jormag fight with none of my skills working and all of five people actually rendering only to get one or two crappy rares which might not even give Ectos when salvaged.
I’m also honestly surprised that the thread title hasn’t been hurr durr changed to “Guesting is out of control IN MY OPINION” or something equally moronic. As if anyone would get “confused”. In before infractions all around!
Guesting Wars 2.
Thread of the month.
Thanks so much to Shahotinaro for linking me a transmuted, purple text Eternity with no suffix in-game! Guess that confirms it. =)

Wow, that’s a lot of armor. o_o
Yes, something like that would be nice. It just feels like the level of investment should at least come with the same basic option to trade stats as any given exotic weapon.
EDIT: Below, a user said that transmuting a legendary with an exotic and having the legendary end up with a suffix and pining orange in chat has since been corrected by the latest patch. Does this mean it’s safe to swap the stats on my legendary? Will it be upgraded when ascended weapons come?
I’m a bit curious on this. Are we ever going to be able to safely change the stats on our legendary weapons without turning them into exotics? From what I understand, transmuting purple text still makes it appear as orange in the chat and adds a suffix to the weapon, leading me to believe that this issue still hasn’t been fixed and that transmutation is essentially downgrading one’s weapon.
I’d mostly like to be able to change my stats because I feel like a soldier’s greatsword is limiting my potential, yet I can’t bring myself to take it off both because I like how greatsword plays and due to the amount of effort it took to get the awesome Sunrise skin.
I’d very much like a zerker Sunrise; will this be possible in the near future at all?

Yes, stop attacking. Meanwhile, you’re getting beat on because you’re not fighting back. Super.
Occupy Lion’s Arch.
Ha, yeah, I do like some of the things given by the Defense tree. My problem is always getting something like Defy Pain while maintaining things like Forceful Greatsword, Fast Hands, and Signet Mastery along with good DPS. Not that I run a shouter, but it really stretches a build.

Right now I’m a bit skeptical of Anet’s version of “fixed”.
Oh, yeah, not arguing that. You can’t heal everyone very well with a glass Ele build or something and so still need to invest in the proper tree.
The thing I don’t mind about Ele’s low damage is that I can actually sustain myself for a very long time and don’t actually feel that I kill that slowly overall given the AoEs. All War can do is buff up Tough/Vit which is a pretty sad excuse for getting the sort of options many other classes all seem to share.
Very much. God, anything to provide us with some real self-reliant sustainability and actually give us some versatility in builds. I’m tired of “go glass or go Guardian”.
Eh, a huge number of Eles put points in those trees anyway. I actually don’t find it hard to heal at least 2-3 of my party by simply attuning/rolling, as long as you’re aware. Might have to prioritize sometimes due to the smaller radius, but that’s even before you’ve busted out dagger water 2 and 5 or scepter water 3. <_>
Our guardian counterpart probably has it even easier.
Meanwhile, the team Elementalist attuned to water and did a dodge roll for close to the same effect and it didn’t cost him a single utility slot. -_-
Well everyone has some BASE toughness. Do you mean it ignores that and only pays attention to what you add yourself? I like the idea of this ability as someone who hates running pure glass.
Sturdy body!
Pretty much.
Make an attack the roots the user for a significant amount of time when used => dev tells players to dodge instead.
Meanwhile, the lower damage guardian is actually doing more DPS because they don’t need to spend as much time just trying to avoid the enemy like a coward.
“Period.” is always such a compelling argument. The fact remains that classes are not entirely balanced in PvE and that Warriors have received very little attention since launch; now they’ve lost one of their only effective sustains.
The problem is that it feels like it’s basically glass or nothing without the sustain. I run a fair bit more toughness in my build in order to be able to take more damage, but in a lot of situations I just find myself under more pressure because that toughness draws aggro. There exists no real option for a sustainable less-than-glass build that actually contributes something to a team that a guardian can’t just do better.
What was the build you were using to survive like that? How was your damage?
Or you could, you know, accept the fact that Warrior has some garbage sustain options where as it’s Guardian counterpart requires you to practically try to be able to die.
It is not that I don’t agree with the food nerf; it is that Warriors got no compensation in the sustain department at all! Omnon Pies/Ghosts was a necessary crutch for Warriors due to our horrible sustain.
Oh, but don’t you know? We’re just supposed to ignore all of those pesky conditions and damage coming our way; we don’t need sustain because of our “sturdy body”! Hurr durr durr.
I’m afraid I don’t hang on every word they say, much less believe it given events so far. >_>
That is unfortunate, however. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, haha.
It’s still very indisputably a player vs. player mode. Unless you run around killing moas and other NPCs during your time in the Mists.
I don’t find “It’s WvWvW” a very compelling reason to ignore balance.
It really just depends on what you’re fighting, what traits you’re using, whether your gear is up to par, etc., etc.
I’d really just suggest finishing off your leveling and then working to get some shiny rare/exotic armors and weapons before you worry too much about what your damage should be. Do some digging around to see what sorts of builds people like and maybe try your hand at your own to see what your damage does against different kinds of enemies. =)
Because War clearly needed a nerf in the PvP scene, lol
-snip-
Sorry, I +1’d this but had to say anyway how much I utterly concur with everything you just said. Warrior was my first and main class. I dislike the direction that the so-called “balance” in this game is going, since the devs apparently don’t see fit to actually give anything significant to the class.
See, that would actually make some sense if Warriors had ANY other non-garbage sustain options. I don’t play glass and I’m disappointed at my limitations on ways to actually keep myself alive outside of my tiny endurance bar and praying I have enough armor after that. Healing shouts and mediocre life gain from banners hardly cuts it when our melee counterpart, the Guardian, can sit around all day with Protection boons and have to practically try to get themselves killed while still doing 70% or so of our damage.
Omnoms couldn’t even save you in most situations with a greatsword, much less trying to facetank a group of dungeon enemies with Hundred Blades. People ran glass with omnoms because going bunker means you may as well just re-roll Guardian.
To be honest I saw the omnom nerf coming and I’m sure I wasn’t hit nearly as hard by it as some players were, but it does really highlight some limitations with how Warriors can actually build.
(edited by Sil.4560)
Not if you’re playing a “try 2 die” class. I can’t wait until Guardian’s over-the-top sustain gets hit with the nerf bat, or Warriors actually have some sort of close equivalent option instead of lolhealingshouts.
Insisting that “everyone” does CoF P1 for the gold hardly refutes his position that he does fine in Arah and CoE because he knows how to evade.
Why not just remove Warrior altogether and buff Guardian some more? Seems to be the direction they’re going.
So basically: Warriors nerfed via food, Guardians buffed. Why am I not surprised.
I just hope when they do it, that we have an option to turn on “accept Dueling Requests”. Really do not want to be spammed with Dueling requests. Plus I hope they do not allow it in the cities, unless there is a specific spot in the city it is allowed.
This.
I don’t do sPvP. In any form. I’m okay with WvW on occasion because it is anonymous. I refuse to ever duel in PvE. Not going to happen. Ever. I’d prefer not to be annoyed with people spamming me for duels.
Nah, easier just to say, “That’s an interesting idea” and continue to leave things like condition Necromancers with the same garbage limitations as before.
This is amazingly disappointing. I was hoping for some sort of minor improvement, at least, during this next patch. Guess I really shouldn’t be surprised though. This will go well hand-in-hand with them destroying the viability of my D/D Ele, I’m sure.
I’d love to have a party of bots. They’re always up for whatever you want to do, don’t trash talk, and are always stupid in a predictable way. :p
I’d personally like to have the ability to hide how many achievement points I have. I’ve got nearly 5.3k but realize they mean dick all when it comes to who I’d want in my party. Personally I think it adds an unnecessarily competitive aspect to the game that we could just as well do without. Make them private or something so that it’s just for fun. As with any accumulated numbers, players will always look for a way to make them a tool of exclusion, no matter how illogical it is. -_-
With the number of people screaming out “learn to play” as their main argument, I have to ask why anyone even cares enough to take this kind of debate so seriously. Who the hell cares what another player chooses to use for weapon? Does it influence you or something?
Changing the trait “Mobile Strikes” on that build seems to drop the “effective power” by a fair number when using that calculator, which is a bit puzzling. I’m a bit unsure of how this is actually calculated?
Effective Power is calculated taking into account your crit rate and crit damage as well.
It’s your total power considering crits, non crits and crit dmg, much like Effective Health Points calc. And since Heightened Focus adds 9% crit rate, if you dump it you’re getting a DPS loss.
HFocus equals to about 200 Precision worth of points, pretty much like 20 points into arms.
I know what Heightened Focus does, but I was talking about changing Mobile Strikes into something else, neither of which actually boosts an offensive stat.
Have you extensively tested this or was it a theory you just put into practice?
I’m a little confused because my GS build is greater in all areas except for crit damage and power with perma fury that isn’t shown and this is for w3 not fractals.
Have you really infused every single ascended item with 5/5 though? That just seems like a crazy waste of money.

Can we call it a Thu’um shout?
