In a lot of times I found myself win a team fight then see the enemy thief insta-stomp one of my allies and all the enemy team ressed up, killing us still if we was previously totally winning the fight. (I took the thief example because is the faster and safer stomper of this game)
In WvW there’s already a 1 kill 1 ress system, why don’t add it in sPvP?
It would make stomp and ress more important, you will no longer see yourself stomp an enemy and make all your allies ress up, you’ll need to fight better than your enemy and ress them by yourself or kill many enemies to see your full team ress up.
That will add a lot of strategy in this game. Ress my stronger ally or stomp the enemy ressing a random ally?
Or eventually make you focus on your stronger enemy still if the enemy is near to stomp one of your allies or just stomped one without ressing him.
That will add an “advantage” to who is able to play better as a team (talking about a team based game isn’t a bad thing) but there’s still a lot of classes able to ress up fast (ele, engi, ranger) and they can do they’re work more and with more interest to do it to win the fight.
That’s to counter a little the “just spam AoE ress system” actually in use in this game.
What do you think?

Ehy, Necromancer is in a Good spot right now, we also have two health bar that grant us high survavibility!
(ANet words)
Talking seriously, we have nothing to do in sPvP right now. Specialize in corrupt boons is useless because the only thing good to corrupt is stability in this meta that even a dps with weakness can burst you down in seconds.
The metabattle build use direct damage and only few boon corrupt to be able to use more defensive skills, but our totally lack of block or total/partial immunity skills and our poor access to stability make us the easiest class to kill of this game, expecially because no one even fear our damage (we’re dangerous but our dps is mediocre both in direct and condition if compared to all the other classes).
The best way to survive right now is be able to use the enviroment and positionate yourself wisely in places where you’re able to flee if needed (almost always if someone chose to kill you).
And Never do a 1v1 because you can’t win against any class (if the enemy player is good and know how to kill a necromancer).
Guardians just pull/knock you in and out of they’re traps, kill you easy (tested, is really funny fight a necro as a guardian), warriors totally ignore every kind of condition you throw them and also ignore stability corruption because they have 15 seconds of Resistance.
Thieves just burst you. RIP.
Mesmer play at range, you’ll never kill a good one.
Engi will CC you to death.
And go on…
But you can try to kill an ele…
Supreme, what’s your skill level? I don’t think you got a high level of play in this game. Not if I read what you’re writing about necro and his counters.
First of all, the necro can barely kill an ele and is the only class he can kill. A good ele will just kite away and don’t grant the kill, or kill the necromancer waiting for his CD and turning back to kill him.
Thief counter the necromancer since ever and a good thief can just dodge or ignore the necromancer marks because are easy to see and they’re damage/effect is really poor. The staff is an utility weapon good only to grant few life force, inflict fear and send conditions back, nothing more. Also the Reaper combo RS5+RS4 need a total of 4,5 seconds of execution. If you find someone bad enough to eat all this damage for free you’re facing a real idi*t that don’t know what is doing and joined a match for error.
A thief can just spam two teleport skill to remove the fear, a blind to block a random huge hit and the enemy necro is dead with two backstab and the AA, with no pain, no troubles.
About mesmers, they just need to stay at range and spam clones, nothing more. The reaper is melee, then if they keep the distance and the necro is dead (they have teleport and stealth to do that, not a problem at all against a class with no mobility).
Nerf a class that can’t kill anyone in 1v1, have a large amount of counters (thief, mesmer, warrior, ranger, guardian) and can play properly only if fully supported by and ele/engi that heal and ress him all the time isn’t truly the priority of this game…
You’re also talking about all these conditions that kills you. Actually the only class playing conditions is the mesmer. Necro and warrior chose power more frequently to be able to fight better in soloQ because the condi version is easier to counter (a condi damage warrior will never win against a direct damage warrior, for example) and is harder to play in a casual team.
I actually enjoy to play around with my guardian and I have only two skills to remove conditions: smite and F2. And that’s enough to play and don’t get killed easy. basicly there’s no more condition damage classes in this meta. Just look to metabattle and you’ll see that the “meta” builds don’t use conditions, unless for the mesmer, and not all mesmers play condi. A large amount of players use metabattle to play with classes they don’t perfectly know then the amount of metabattle builds you’ll find in game is really high.
I think that you’re only one of this players that don’t want to die against a condi class because “a condi class don’t have to kill anyone with condi, they’re bunker builds!”. But now condition is lesser bunkerish than direct damage, there’s more bunker/half-bunker amulets for direct damage than for condition damage.
Also, there’s more ways to counter condition damage than direct damage, expecially with a lot of (also AoE) condi clean skills (ele can spam condi clean all the time just granting regen to allies and diamond skin grant him an half immunity to conditions)
If you convert chill damage to be as it was in the good old days it would be a really big buff.
Losing the chill damage and obtaining bleed we lost 1/3-1/4 of our condition damage.
obtain it back will grant us the dps we totally lack to be compared to other classes.
The Reaper is a DPS elite specializzation and we’re playing it as a boon corruption without damage…
You don’t change your team when swap. It can be that someone also swapped his class from necro to X.
The last buff we get was the scepter AA buff. Everyone started to cry, to say that it was too much. Now the meta no more use it because corrupt boons is useless in a meta where everyone can kill you without a single buff. Also because unless you don’t corrupt stability there’s not too much needs of corrupt boons. The only one I want to fight corrupting might to obtain weakness is the warrior, that totally ignore my conditions.
The changes should be more in the direct damage, just because the Reaper had to be our chance to play as a AoE direct damage dealer but ended to be our condi spam elite.
I don’t think we’ll get too much from a new patch, we’re perfect to do what we’re designet for: Attrition. That make us chained to our defenseless hp pool to defend us, a mediocre dps and skills that grant us a debuffer and corrupter role into a PvE world where there’s no need of even more vulenrability, no need of weakness and poison. In PvE we’re basicly useless, unless for Epidemic (that do it’s best if used to spam conditions made from our allies because our condi dps is mediocre).
In sPvP we should be useful if we had some way to don’t be bursted down every moment.
In WvW we’re hated because we use epidemic to spam our allies conditions, obtaining dps where we lack of.
I bet we’ll not obtain too much, probably a little buff in something no one care about. But a lot of other classes will be buffed by a lot, granting us an indirect nerf. As always.
“nerf resistance on warrior and nerf druid”…anything left to counter necro condi spam?
DH? Thief? They just blow out a necro easier than any other class. (I tried with my DH, there’s nothing more fun than find a necro on your way)
And also i don’t ask to remove Resistance, only to make it don’t grant a Total immunity to conditions. Fight an actual warrior is like fight against an old CeleEle with Diamond Skin, but with stability spam, damage immunity and can literally burst you down in 5 seconds.
Make it protect you from all the Damaging conditions will already grant you to kill more or less every condition build of this game, just granting them a little more counterplay (counting that a war can clean 3 condis every 2.5 seconds is not even a big change), you’ll be protected by Burn, Bleed, Confusion, Torment and Poison, isn’t enough?
For the Druid th things I will do is reduce the dps of the LB and the HoT pets by a little (15% of Lb Rapid Fire and Barrage and 15% of Bristleback F2 and Spike Barrage and Smokescale Smoke assault) and increase the ICD of the Ancient Seeds Druid Trait byt no lesser than 10 seconds (immobilize the enemy for 5 seconds every 20 seconds adding 5 bleed is already an OP trait) and all that only in sPvP. That will make them lesser able to burst you down while spamming immobilize and be able to just heal and stealth all the time.
The Ranger was strong and in a really good spot but not a OP, but after HoT with the incredible high damage of the pets had obtained too much burst potential for a healer elite specializzation and a bunker build, expecially because also when the druid is incapacitated or flee the pet continue to hit you and inflict high damage.
A little nerf to the druid dps, imobilize spam and resistance will grant them to kill every necromancer and every other class they find on they’re way as they actually do, but granting more counterplay when needed.
Anyway… there’s a single class in this game that find hard to kill a necromancer?
They don’t need to be countered by anyone, they had hard counters before this season and they’re obtaining more and more. Actually i don’t know a single class hard countered by a necromancer. If they finally become able to kill someone in 1v1 there will be not a real problem at all, expecially if they become a counter for classes considerated OP by everyone that know how good they are at high level, still having different classes that hard counter them. As they become able to kill cele-ele in the pre-HoT era, granting them a reason to be accepted by teams and granting them a reason to be played wil not be bad.
The actual warrior is not so much better than the old warrior you played (I’m not an expert but not too much has changed since the seasons you wrote about, unless for the Resistance), the main changes was the nerf of revenant sustain (expecially stability) and the amount of dps builds in this game running lesser stability than before, plus eventually the amount of unblockable hits you can do killing classes like dh, engi and mesmer easier than anyone else (expecially dh).
The warrior hasn’t changed too much but obtained the perfect enviroment to shine. As the necromancer in the past, that was not overpowered but only find an enviroment where was able to shine (until engi and mesmer discovered that a single moa was able to kill a necromancer, or thieves just find that we had not a single defensive skill, making sushi of us all the time…).
The difference between necromancer and warrior is that the warrior have lesser counters and counter more builds/classes than the necromancer had. Also moa is lesser impactful on a warrior than on a necro. A necro lose his access to shroud (and sometimes loses also all his life force, an old bug I think) and without any active/passive defence out of the shroud as a meat shield, he was doomed to eat all the enemy burst and die. A warrior can still flee and when turn back in his form active a defensive skill (shield, endure pain, berserker stance) or just flee away with the Gs skills to safety.
The warrior have the higher burst in this meta, a lot of defensive skills, one of the best movement (movement save more than defensive skills), 15 seconds of condition immunity, can clean 3 conditions every 2.5 seconds, can spam stability and have a lot of Hard CC. Basicly is immune to everything while able to move, stun, hit and kill.
Is the best combination of everything.
Is not the only class with all this amount of offensive and defensive things, also engineers and druids can have huge damage, movement (even stealth spam) and survavibility, but they need more skills to be played correctly at high levels or are underestimated (if i had to nerf a class I should chose Druid, but hopefully there’s not so much players able to play it at high levels).
The main problem of the warrior that make him “OP” (still if is killable if you have the chance to wait for 10 seconds, until he turn back to be killable if use all his skills) is the Resistance for 15 seconds while charging of so much the Burst Bar (don’t remember the name). That boon is a huge exageration, like the ele Diamond Skin.
A nerf to Resistance to make you immune to Damaging Conditions only would make the warrior in line with all the other classes. Weakness, Cripple, Immobilize, Chill, fear Vulnerability,………. all things that do a LOT during a fight.
Nerfing Resistance (also making eles able to obtain it back to DS if it got nerfed) will grant to every build the chance to fight him with soft/high CC and debilitating conditions that actually don’t affect him at all.
That also will not be a so huge nerf for the warrior if you look at the amount of condi clean he got (3 condi every 2.5 seconds make him the best class to fight condi classes by defaoult), also because he’s able to remove immobilize with every single Leap skills.
But also will grant a sort of way to counter him with weakness, cripple, immobilize and fear (fear still susceptible to stability, ofcourse)
Do that and I’ll consider the Warrior balanced in everything.
That will reveal your build, then grant an advantage on the enemy team (focus the core class!). Or discrimination on yours (wtf are you a f2p?)
It can work if you have full life force before entering the fight, but with blighter’s boon if you active all your skills you’ll obtain a good amount of lf to start (max of 20%?), but not enough to last and make your combos into a team fight before get stripped out of shroud.
Also, why did you chose Rune of Aristocracy? Strength isn’t better? if you chose it for the 3 might of the heal you did bad, because you lose 175 power and a 5% of direct damage to obtain 90 and 3% LF, a really poor exchange.
That build can be a good burst build, but still will never make you facetank anyone, still if you have 30k hp (but yes, that help). In this meta survive who have more invulnerability, not more hp.
It was used in sPvP for the Signet Corruption Build, but now that build is bad because everyone can kill you easy and fast even without his boons, then corrupt they’re boons (unless stability) is more or less a waste of time. We used it to kill eles in they’re gold ages, that’s all.
Anyway, in a team fight situaion, where you’re always under the enemy focus, that passive can heal you for 3250hp every 10 seconds, 6500hp every 20, more than the other heals, and is only it’s passive effect.
In theory it’s a good heal, if you’re fightin in the front line without shroud, in practice is a bad heal no one use anymore.
At low level I can kill a large amount of classes with the DH, but the warrior hard counter me in every way. Stability always up, imunity to conditions (blind for example), CC me to the ground and can pass through my blocks, making me totally unable to fight him (if he’s good).
The DH at low/medium levels is strong and at high level is good but if you go up in ranks you’ll find engi and druids be insanely strong if compared to dragonhunter.
I tried the ranger and it’s hilarious how easy is with a druid kill enemies in 1v1. Immobilize for 5 seconds every 10 seconds, stealth spam, clean conditions easy, heal all the time, the pet inflict an insane amount of damage and if you play dps with the LB you can just do point Blank, Rapidfire and Bristleback F2 and the enemy is imobilized for 5 seconds and basicly die under your burst. Seriously, try it, it’s insane. And it’s only the start of the fight, you have also stealth if the things go wrong, HoT pets inflict insane damage by themselves.
Compared to the DH a good druid is insanely strong, unkillable and grant way better support to the team. Also have much more movement than tha DH.
The engi is one of the hardest class to manage but now with the hammer is easier. High direct damage, stealth if you need to flee, immunity skils, moa, a lot of CC, heal and condi clean (need practice with kit combos) and movement.
I can say that the warrior is really strong in this meta and is teh only class able to play in berserker (all the others play marauder) without any problem. or play condition and spam damage. He’s immune to conditions for all the time he need to kill you, spam stability, huge movement skills and a lot of CC and defensive skills.
DH is really dangerous only if stacked. At the start of a fight I always ask to focus the necro first of all and then the enemy DH. The reason is that he have only a single skill to be untouchable, the F3 is strong but in a team fight he can’t protect himself from every directions and a little of teamplay is enough to kill him really fast. Ask your thief to backstab him, he will kill him in two hits. There’s also different unblockable skills in this game, enough to make him in danger. Also, if you have stability the dh can’t do his combo, losing more or less 1/3 of his damage, if not half. Or just dodge his spear of justice, that’s enough to make him waste his combo.
If I had to ask for a nerf I will ask for Druid and Berserker.
Thematicly are good, grant you a little (really little) life steal and at 25% if you’re surrended by enemies you can steal a good amount of hp. Anyway it don’t work while in Shroud, then the 15%chance when struck will active and do nothing (at last a little damage, more or less 1000).
If you can chose other runes will not change too much.
You can also try the chronomancer runes to obtain 2 sec of quickness when active a well, or the always good Pack that grant to you and nearby allies might, swiftness and fury (grant fury to allies or monions is always a good thing).
In the last days, using my guardian, I fund some players using a terrormancer build on core necro trying to kill me. They was so easy to kill that I don’t even needed to use my elite, two combo and they’re dead.
I think that someone out there is trying your build, with low to nothing success XD
That’s not a build to try without a good knowledge of this class and a lot of sPvP experience and who try it just to try will find a painful end.
For that, I remember to everyone to play this build only if abe to handle it (at last in a real fight against someone that know what is doing and is not a low level casual player)
C, that’s a team based game, we have the LFG system that perfectly work for all the other game needs, we can just implement this and gg, fast queue and full premades
The elite specializzations fixed a lot of things that was bad in the core classes.
I play necro as main but also play guardian and they got two totally different kind of elite specializzation.
The reaper just fixed a lot of issues from the necromancer: gave stability and a leap to a class without any kind of movement skill proud of this name (wurm? spectral walk? just bad things to move around in a match), granted synergie with Soul reaping traits like Dhuumfire 8that is seriously bad for the death shroud) and granted a condi “burst” skill 8still if you need a trait, a ice field and your skill take 4 seconds to fully land, then it’s not properly a burst, not at all…).
But in truth that elite specializzation don’t grant anything new to the necromancer. We’re still struck into a boon corruption spec without high damage and without high survavibility (in a PvP enviroment) and with a poor direct damage build that try to shine but can’t because of the old problems of the power weapons. And the GS is the worst weapon of this game… It’s the only direct damage AoE weapon of the necromancer, that’s all I can say good about this weapon.
Basicly nothing changed for a Necromancer from before HoT and now, no new role, no new weapon (no one use the gs if not for fun), no new mechanic. it’s only cool to see and play.
Then there’s the Dragonhunter:
The rework on his mechanic is poor, just a little rework on the virtues (needed only to make a combo with Spear of Justice and survive a little better with the F3 that no one activated before HoT if not to obtain protection and retalation.
But he obtained Traps and Longbow. Guardians needed a real ranged weapon and ANet gave them a extremly strong ranged weapon. They needed a damage Utility and ANet gave them Traps. They obtained a new dps role, totally new opportunities to play in WvW and sPvP, they obtained the perfect rework to be the Ranged DPS class everyone was waiting for.
The Guardian obtained a mechanic rework similar to the necromancer, or even smaller, but obtained something the necro didn’t: a New Role, a New way to Play.
But for the Mesmer is even better! The Chronomancer is one of the best rework ever!
You obtained spectacular traits that fix all the main class issue (shatter with superspeed, clone regeneration and a Totally Free 25% speed!) but also a really strong Weapon that granted to the class a Block for 3 seconds that spam clones that spam Slow and Alacrity! And Stun AoE, block projectiles and grant Quickness!
You also obtained a full dedicated Boon and a more or less unique Condition! You can spam Alacrity and Slow and only you can do that! Only your illusions can seriously spam it, while other classes can’t.
If that’s not enough. you obtained a totally New Fx skill that grant you to revert time, obtain all your previous skills and hp, granting you to fight an enemy and fight it again with the same hp, the same skills, grant you to double active moa and shatter. isn’t that enough to make it the best elite ever?
Then you obtained Wells, that used with the shield grant you a totally New Role!
You can play as a support bunker, grant alacrity and quickness to your allies, slow to your enemies, stun, chill, grant aegis and stability. You can be a totally new bunker/supporter class no other class can be. in fact, at the release of HoT the chronomancer was totally unkillable and a good chrono was able to make his team win by himself.
The mesmer obtained the best Fx rework, an incredible amount of strong traits, a weapon that grant him a lot of utility and survavibility (to a previously pure squishy class!), good utility skills that grant him to support and defend in a way no other class can do and a totally new Role.
Seriously, what do you want more than that?
I seen them, and you’re already fighting bad players, probably in unranked. The guardian, the best fight you show in your video, is not a bad fight but he is really bad. Wasted his breakstun just to come to you, while a sword 2 was better, didn’t use his pull proprerly, no activation of schield or LB to push you out of the trap to push-n-pull, and more.
The warrior was so bad that he is for shure a daily player in unranked, he don’t even tried seriously to kill you.
The mesmer was just there to get killed, all the time long under your pressure without any good movement, any good counter, any burst, wasting the moa and more.
But for shure you used they bad play to kill them easy with an old build no one use anymore.
You’re a good player and that’s all that grant you to kill these players.
I can’t say that your build is good, just because is totally countered by an insane amount of classes (if played by a good player), but for shure you’re good to use it.
Hope to find you in some matches and have some fun togheter (fighting as ally or enemy).
Time ago a dev answered to a post while there was a discussion about how bad the GS is in medium/high level sPvP.
He told everyone that he was able to go up to legendary with a power build using the GS, but also tat he used more frequently the dagger/arhorn because the dagger is too strong to be ignored, for a power build.
Then, also the devs think that it’s a weapon really hard to use in sPvP. (too much effort to make it viable with not enough gratification)
I don’t know in WvW, but in general it’s not a good weapon for PvP. Too slow, no gap closer (the grasp can be ignored with stability, evade, block and more, making it useless half of the times), not enough damage to explain how slow it is if compared to the dagger AA and the best skill in that weapon is the 4 that inflict damage and blind.
Someone think that if we had a Torch with the skill 4 and 5 of the GS it would be a great offhand weapon, but the full GS is too clunky to be used in real fights.
You can try to play with the GS, but the result will be low compared to the dagger/warhorn or even the Axe/X for a power build.
It’s a viable build, the signet of Spite grant you Power and in a common PvE or easy dungeon can be good to increase your dps.
The GS is slow and don’t work at its best more or less 80% of the time because if you can’t spam gravedigger isn’t the best weapon you can use, expecially if you use the vampiric trait.
The best weapons for melee are Dagger/Warhorn at 100%, expecially with the vampiric trait, and you lose only a low amount of damage compared to the full potential of the GS but are able to inflict your top damage without problems also if you need to dodge or miss a hit.
To use the warhorn you don’t need to lose vampiric, instead it’s a good choice use it with the WH because the skill 5 inflict 10 hit and grant you extra damage and health with the vampiric trait.
In PvE the rune of scholar aren’t the best choice if you can’t fight by range or enter shroud at the start of the fight because an aoe of a boos can easly take you under 90%hp. Strength are the best option, atm.
Looking at this match, I see only a good but not shining build winning a lot of 2v1.
Nothing extraordinary, but you’re a good player and can make your build work enough to make it viable.
Not a 1v1 to show how you can kill someone, but fight against classes with low access to stability and with breakstuns in cooldown is for shure a good way to win.
The best thing i see in this video is that you found really good allies, able to join you every single time you find someone in your way, killing your enemy. more or less every time you fought an enemy in this match you was near to lose then come an ally to kill your enemy (or ress you). Basicly you don’t kill anyone in this video…
But it’s good to see that there’s still good necros hanging around
There’s a lot of possible builds. I used the PvP stats because I’m too lazy to set every time the stats of all the equipment.
Minion Master:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNBIhZakhGaqxuawtGYvxx0QNfgLoCozwNkpyBoACAA-TZBEwAM3fgwZAIbZAAPAAEHCAA
You can also play it as a condition damage using scepter/warhorn and with rabid:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNBLhZakhGaqxuawtGYvxx0QRnhbITnt8FUByBoACAA-TZxCABbVGY6DBgQ7PAwDAQhzAAA
Minion master is the easier way to go as a necromancer in PvE (also because the mobs kills st first your minions instead of you), but can happen that minions take the aggro of every mob you find on your way.
You can play a classic dps with wells:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNBIhZakkGapxeaw2G4wxBuQBHgAoFopRb8szioJqCA-TZBEwAAeAAGOEAEODAZLDka/BA
Or just make a condition build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNBLhZakjG6uxObw2G4vxhxQRbiooWj/cAcAzjOGeBA-TZxCABA8AAm+QAowZAQo9H2qMAA
You can make changes and adjustments to this builds as you wish depending on your playstyle, the situation and your needs.
The necromancer is in the trash tier of PvE since ever. For years we asked for a buff to his damage and there was a time when if you joined a dungeon as a necromancer everyone asked you change class, or just kick you out without mercy.
We always had the worst direct damage dps and the GS don’t changed this. The GS don’t increased our DPS by so much (not so much either in the best spam situation) and in a large amount of situations it decrease our dps (miss your gravedigger few times because you need to dodge and you will regret your dagger/warhorn).
The condition build is good, but unless you’re fighting a really long boss your dps is not enough to be compared to all the other classes. You can be asked to join a team only because they have some condi classes and you can use Epidemic, fighting the enemy with your allies conditions (granting you a way to inflict high damage, just because don’t come from yourself).
But don’t hope too much, the necromancer is an Attrition class. We have too much survavibility (two health bar! omg!). ANet will never really buff our dps because we have too much survavibility and we’re not supposed to be anything more than an attrition class.
We’re the only class chained to his theme. The ele is the best support of this game but in PvE can be the best dps. The guardian is the bunker class but is used as a dps since ever (both in PvE and sPvP, frequently also in WvW when not used by a commander).
We don’t contribute di anything for our team (unless make the enemy easier to kill in sPvP corrupting boons), don’t have good dps and our survavibility in a team enviroment is high but at the same level of our allies because we can’t be healed while in shroud while our allies can be healed by an ele all the time.
There’s not a real reason to bring a necromancer with you in a dungeon.
We need a high dps rework, but we will never have one.
Hi all. I recently started trying out pvp in GW2. I used to play FPS online years upon years ago, namely Quake II/Quake III Arena Capture the Flag and Battlefield1942. The team environment always made it fun to me, so after 4 years of PVE in GW2, I decided to jump into the PVP arena. I’ve gone over pvp builds for my favorite characters, practiced with them, tweaked them, watched videos of other players, and I have improved a little but I have to say…
the matchmaking system sucks.
I realize I’m not a good pvp’er, but coming from team based games, I know a little about strategy, but seeing scores constantly being 500 to like 150 with one team completely demolishing another over and over is disheartening. I think I have been on only one match where the final score was within 10 points. Were matches always lopsided like this?
The difference between GW2 and the game you listed is that they’re a totally different kind of game. They’re more balanced, don’t rely on a variety of skills, traits, builds or other things, you more or less just need to pick up your weapons and go into the fight.
Here you need to fight in a team based game with a strategy, a team composition that isn’t totally casual, be able to change your tactic when needed and have a team speak to coordinate with your friend every moment. in battlefield and others you can need it too, but here you need it even more, unless you’re experienced enough to know exactly what to do in every situation and play with players at your same level of experience.
The problem is that in this game everyone play as a pug, then if the enemy team have the better class combination or the more experienced players he win with 200 or more points of difference without too much effort.
A lot of the problem to have or not have fun in this game is also your class. If you play a necromancer, for example, that can’t do 1v1, need a coordinated teamwork and someone to ress him every fight , your game experience at low levels can be really painfull.
If you play warrior, guardian or engineer you can have a better low level experience, kill someone in 1v1, win some 1v2 against low health enemies and have fun. I seen some warriors, thief and eles carry players in low levels, a necromancer can’t (or a not experienced mesmer).
Also, if you started now to do pvp you’re mixed with other low level players, then when you face a little more experienced players you will lose without mercy. But if you make more practice you can increase your experience and win more, and also be mixed with more experienced players and have more chances to find good players and win matches.
Just continue to play and have fun, the good days will come soon.
Reaper’s onslaught is really good in PvE and dungeon rush, granting you to continuously active your reaper skills. In theory, our dps with that trait is really high against hordes of mobs.
I’m proposing the LFG system from the start, from the first vote for team or solo queue.
No one want to spend 5 minutes to make a good team with chosen classes and a strategy, everyone want to go fast and play totally casual matches with casual players, with casual classes, with no strategy and win anyway, crying if they lose because “the match making is broken”.
Force players to make a Team (a premade, if you want) to join a ranking on a team based game is the only way to make a little of balance in this game. Also will make queue shorter. instead of find 10 players at the same level the game need to find only 2 team of the same level (the higher player make the level of the team), making the game reduce the time he need start the match by 5 times.
Now you can play with your friends (finally no more solo/duo queue) and chose good maps instead of play always coliseum and other bad maps.
You don’t want full team to join ranked into a team based game, crying a lot because you don’t want to join a pvp guild or make friends to play with but still don’t want to lose against a premade team that only play as this game is designed for, don’t do anything wrong but everyone cry anyway because they’re too lazy to make a team by they’re own.
Then ANet added the chance to ask to other players at the end of a match to join you and make a team. Great Idea, grant to make a team by your own with skilled players you find playing as a soloQ.
But there was still people unhappy because they’re too lazy also to make an improvized team, they want to force everyone to play lazy as they do.
Then ANet answered making your ranked for 1-2 players only, making impossible make a real premade, granting even better random fight between random players that play everyone as they want without any real coordinated strategy.
BUT now no one want it!!!
Now you want to force everyone to play as a SoloQ as you play, just because you don’t want to spend five minutes asking to your friends to join you or join a sPvP guild to play with. There’s a LOT of sPvP Guild in this game, just ask in map and you’ll find a lot of them ready to make you join and play with you.
Oh, wait, now is impossible to play with more than a friend, then make a pvp guild is totally useless, join one of them is pointless and every match is so casual that you have only to pray to find good players and not noobs, with the perfect class combination and against a noob team.
Time ago ANet gave us a SoloQ ranked area, where you was able to join only in solo.
there was so much crying players that Anet immediatly canceled everything.
If you play in soloQ with other 9 players that play in solo you will win only if you’re in the better casual team, without any chance to change it or chose to play with your friends, hoping to find good players and not noobs all the time.
Then, if you don’t play a class able to carry your team you will be unable to make your team win, still if your class is good in premade team (necro, for example).
Actually everything in ranked is a chaos, do you really want to increase the chaos?
That would only make them OP, nothing more. It for shure would be better for roaming solo or duo, but still affect zerg and team fight, making it OP.
All the shout guardians use the Superior Rune of the Trooper for that purpose, removing a condition and converting another into a boon.
make shouts convert two conditions into boons will grant you 3 condition converted/removed from you and your allies every shout you use, that is a little OP.
It should be good to keep back the old shout guardian in sPvP, but it will be OP.
The golem is good if you play as a Minion Master, also good for common PvE.
For sPvP Chilled to the Bone is really good, granting you our only access to Stability outside of Reaper Shroud (and the well that grant only one stack), also inflict a big damage and stun for 2 seconds.
Another good elite for sPvP is the Plague, that grant you high toughness and can Spam Blind AoE, a thing really useful for a team fight.
The Lich Form was good for sPvP time ago when it was our best way to inflict huge damage, and still now it can be good but is heavly countered by every mesmer or engineer you find (and there’s always one ready to moa you when you active your best skill…).
Our elites are not at the same level of other classes elites (mesmer can moa two times, just to say), but they’re still viable in different situations.
In common PvE or Dungeon you can use CttB or Flesh Golem, in WvW anyone you want unless the golem. You can use the Ligh Form against some bosses to inflict huge direct damage, for example. It was really used in raids to spam minions, but that thing had been nerfed and no one use it anymore.
We don’t have any real elite that shine as other classes, but they’re still good.
The GS isn’t bad, I fought some GS users. AoE damage, a good leap, a pull and a big symbol to make combo with. But it was swapped for the Longbow, that is a really good ranged weapon and grand us a lot of combos (expecially with some traps).
Then we had to chose between the GS and the Sword+Focus in a meta where everything hit you like a truk, forcing us to use all the defensive skills we have the chance to put our hands on. The main reason to make me drop the GS isn’t the Sword, is the Focus. Blind, clean conditions and grant us blocks or/and a really good hit, plus a Blast Finisher. The buffed Sword is only a good choice to pair with that strong offhand weapon.
We’ll find another Elite Specialization in our future and then we’ll lose the Longbow and the Traps, probably to obtain an Axe (main hand? offhand? no one know). We’ll see what kind of combos we’ll be able to do with that weapon. If we’ll be able to use Axe+Focus I’ll chose a GS or a Hammer as secondary weapon for shure (at last in sPvP or where i don’t need the range of the Scepter like in some fractals)
I played a GS/Axe+Focus build in PvE and Dungeons, it’s funny to play. I prefer to play with a set for melee and a set for ranged fights, making me able to fight in different ways when needed. The axe isn’t really a bad weapon if you use the trait in Spite, but in common fights the dagger is better, expecially if combined with the warhorn. A vampiric build with dagger and warhorn is really strong, for example.
I used to chose axe for ranged fights only, swapping to gs when the enemy come closer, using the focus for the weakness application and the range (but also the warhorn is good for LF and daze, or the off dagger for blind and condition transfer).
I like the axe and can be a viable weapon for ranged fights, also in dungeons and fractals.
You can try a Valkyrie/Marauder/Berserker build for fractal, depending on how much survavibility, critical and ferocity you want, use the trait for more critical rate depending on the vulnerability on the enemy and stay at range with the axe, inflicting good/high damage. The necro isn’t the best dps class anyway, then you can chose how to fight, you will anyway be subpar if compared to more or less all the other classes dps.
Play what you want and enjoy your playstyle. Chose your weapons, make your build and if someone told you that you’re not using the top build you can tell him that it’s a game and this game is made to play whatever you like to play.
I play as a sylvari. What’s better than born from a tree in the greatest strength of the nature and corrupt it to your will creating undead minions and corrupting the enemy life into pain and despair?
You can also play as a human to make a more classic necromancer with long white hair, a norn to make a extremly brutal shaman (with reaper is really cool), an asura to see the minions be bigger than you or a charr to make the wildest primitive shaman ever.
At the end, racial skills are bad if compared to class skills and don’t grant you any real advantage, exept for the norn elite jaguar transformation that grant you to become invisible, a great way to flee in WvW dangerous situations. or the wolf transformation that grant you an AA that inflict a good amount of bleed.
I used this build, a little more focused on a single target than AoE damage. It’s a little lesser efficent in team fights but better in 1v1/2v2 fights. Also, you have more critical rate for a little better direct damage (up to 49% while with fury)
Anyway, I used it but if the enemy team have an ele, if the enemy clean conditions fast enough or is a warrior with signet of might and berserker stance you’re easier to kill than the common direct damage version.
The same thing if you use the build posted by Aelsir, that is better in team fight than mine.
You have a strong condition damage but only one source of condition damage, then if the enemy can clean also a single condition per time (as an ele with diamond skin or a thief that clean when dodge) your damage can be really low.
In unranked, more or less every fun build can work. In ranked it’s harder to use the Gs because is so slow that if you don’t use CttB you can’t land a single hit in a team fight, the enemy team will focus you and take you down with CC and burst.
But in unranked you can use it and have fun. Not a high level weapon, but still viable to have some fun.
When gravedigger land it’s damage is really huge, the problem is that with the lack of immunity and block skills, if you’re in the middle of the team fight in a medium/high level ranked you will be CCed or die before you’re able to do any real good damage with it.
Chilled to the Bone inflict stun for 2 seconds and a lot of other skills on other classe do the same and are more spammable, that stability is the only way a necro have to obtain it out of reaper shroud then it is ok as it is, have a ling casting compared to all the other shouts and can be easly interrupted also by a random blind or CC, is really usefull only when used against a lot of enemies, then the necro will be at the center of the fight and targeted (then no matter how much stability he have, he will die anyway). Also chill, but there’s so much condi clean (personal and aoe) and movement speed is no more affected by it, then there’s not so much to worry about.
Bleed? Life Steal? Are you seriously talking about that?
The enemy necro inflicted 1 stack of bleed on me using his elite+trait!!! I’m gonna die!!
He also healed for 650hp!!! And only if he hitted 5 enemies!!!
OMG WTF TOO OP!!!
Guys, please, that’s an Elite skill and grant good effects. Do you have problems against that skill? Use Moa (two times if you need), Entangle (I don’t know if still used), Elixir X and Cc him out still if he have a lot of stability, reduce him to low hp and insta-kill with the thief elite combo, or just kill him down easy as always, it’s still the easier class of this meta to focus and kill.
There’s more dangerous elites out there, why do you ask to nerf one on a class that already have so much problems to stay alive and no other ways to obtain stability while out of the reaper shroud? And also isn’t so op as you say, totally not. really good but not op.
I’m also using this build because is really funny to play and if you find an enemy without too much condi clean and defensive skills you can kill him having a good fight.
The problem about warriors is that they already counter the basic DH (signet of might grant them a free way to burst us down easy and fast passing through our blocks and locking us down with an insane amount of CC), if you add that he can be totally immune to conditions for 15 seconds (and clean your burn with every F1 spam), you find a class that will never be killed by a condi guardian.
Try to kite and flee, use the enviroment to keep you safe from the enemy hits, look if he’s using the signet of might to know if you can use your block skills or when use it.
You need to wait for 15 seconds before you’ll be able to inflict any damage, blind or immobilize the warrior. if you do, you have few seconds to burst him down before the heal signet recharge. if the enemy have block skills or keep you stunned, you’ll lose your damage window and be unable to inflict any damage.
Basicly, if you see a warrior change your way. if he chase you, flee faster as you can.
OP, you’re blaming for what?
For the Only skill out of Reaper Shroud 3 that grant us stability?
The Damage and Chill effect?
The fact that a necromancer finally have a CC different from the WH 4 and Fear (that can be ignored by both stability and resistance)?
That a necro finally have a Elite with a decent cooldown and a useful effect?
First of all, the amount of classes that spam block/evade/immunity/stability/blind are so much in this meta that half of the enemies you hit just don’t even notice you landed it, and if they evade/block//// it you don’t gain the stability effect for them. Also if you use the Plague Signet you can obtain a blind from your allies, totally missing the hit (happen more frequently that you can think, with the amount of blind in this game used by thief, guardian and more).
The casting also don’t rteally grant you any good action time. 1,25 sec of casting for 2 sec of stun AoE on 90 sec of CD? Wow, what an amazing skill! unbeliveable! I will know what you think fighting against a warrior, that can perma stun you. In the current meta they have the mace/shield that grant them 1sec daze every 12 sec, 2 sec of Stun every 16 sec (they use the trait for that), and the F1 that daze for 1 sec every 3 seconds, inflicting also a lot of conditions. And what if he use his Hammer?? 2 sec of Stun AoE every 8 seconds! ANet, run, you must nerf it or everyone in this game will start to cry about it! And what about they’re elite? 3 sec of stun fulling they’re adrenaline and granting them to spam the F1 of the mace, dazing you more and more.
Also the war can spam stability just staying in Berserk Form, that can be activated every 8,5 sec and last for 15 sec. They don’t need to be nerfed?
Seriously, if you think that Chilled to the Bone is Over powered you have to improve as a player, start to look how many times your enemy necro use it and how many times you suffer from it.
You can ask a nerf because you play as a warrior and if the necro have stability you can’t stunlock him down for ages as you do against several other classes, but remember that if he miss, is blocked or more he don’t obtain any stack of stability and if he hit only you he obtain only 2 stacks. CttB is a good elite but only if used while in the middle of the fight and there’s a lot of enemies to hit. And if the enemy come in the middle of the fight and don’t die in 5 seconds your team need to learn how to focus and burst down the easiest class to kill of this game.
About his damage, only a power build can use it and inflict any decent damage, but a large amount of necros play condition, then that’s not a problem at all.
That’s the first post I see in months that ask for a nerf to necros. There’s a reason if everyone ask to nerf thief, war, guardian, mesmer, ele, engi, ranger (basicly every class of this game…) butno one ask to nerf necros, don’t you think?
Leave them alone using they’re only way to obtain stability while not in Reaper Shroud and be happy, you will burst them down easy and fast anyway, expecially because you play 3 classes that totally counters the necromancer.
It isn’t bad, but the things that the DH give you are way better.
But if you can’t use the dh (old player or ftp) you can use this build or a similar one and still do good things.
I like the burn guardian and before hot there was a large amount of counter for this build that it was not truly a problem (still if it was really strong).
Now the F3 block for a lot and grant lesser counterplay like condi transfer and similar (with traits, sigil or necro skills-unless the mark that can be unblockable-).
there’s also to say that the amount of clean skills in this game, both personal and aoe, are more and more than before hot, making the guardian work harder in 4v4 fights if there’s a necro or/and an ele to clean or send back your burn.
In 1v1 there’s to say that burn is the only condition aguardian can inflict you, then it’s really really easy to clean, making the enemy damage fall to 0.
it’s strong but not insanely strong. can build up burn quickly with the right combo but can also be cleared at the same speed.
It’s a balanced build, right now, if compared to all the other direct and condition builds that walks in this meta.
You can try a reaper shroud/spite – blood- death magic build, with direct damage. Dagger+Warhorn in pve are great for the life steal and high damage, expecially with minions. You will never die and inflict a high amount of damage. To level up is one of the best build.
You can also try wells, they’re good against a big number of enemy.
Condition damage is also a good choice but at low levels with a random equipment it’s lesser efficent than direct damage.
Spectral Armor during Shroud is functionally a 6 second block/invuln. – esp. when combined with toughness gear.
That’s not totally true. If you look there’s an internal cooldown of 1 sec that make this skill good but not a invulenrability skill. That can be good against a mid dps or a bunker class, but a thief will eat you alive anyway, the same for a revenant, a dh or a good warrior.
Talking about the PvE damage, we need a power up for shure. But our class is not intended to have a good dps because we have the best survavibility of this game (“two life bar” as someone say), then we lost dps for that.
Also, we’re intended to have minions and they steal a lot of our dps, similar for the ranger and his minions (still if they’re in the main mechaninc and ours not).
A better amount of damage modifier would fix our problem. Also a little rework on some weapon skills as the GS.
We can hope to see that in the future.
I still think that be able to join with 2-3 friends was better than join solo and hope for the best.
The top would be force everyone to make a premade if they want to join the Ranked (a reasonable thing talking of a team based game).
Just use the LFG system, it work perfectly and would be great. Also keeping the queue times quick, just because you’re already in premade team vs premade team, the system would only need to put two teams together and go on with the match.
Bot no, let’s make the destiny chose who win and who lose…
Is it really not abvious already?
You join a ranked match as a pug, if you don’t find good players you lose.
Without any chance to make your own team in a team based game all you can do is carry your team or hope to find good players and good classes.
But we voted and everyone wanted this! (I voted for team ranked)
A lot of people come here to find informations about how to play better, how is this class, how to be good using it.
If you come here to find informations and see someone able to overkill guardians all the time, you will immediatly try this build. But that build is just a new (not really new) remake of the terrormancer, an old build that was good for merely few weeks and now is garbage because there’s a insane amount of Stability, invulnerability, block and stunbreak skill in this game.
The OP showed his build and how it work, but only against bad players who made all the possible mistakes to make him win, and also keep some “misterious secrets” for himself of how his build work (as he wrote in a post).
He also wrote that these same guardians came and fight him granting him difficult fights (and some horrible deaths, I presume).
That build can’t work in this meta unless against bad players, low rank fights and is extremely hard to master.
If you want to come here and find real informations, that post is the wrong place from the start.
Turn back with another video where you fight real DH with no cooldowns and that don’t play bad, please. I’m be really curious to see your build during a Real fight. Just to know if it’s really viable or not.
Bleh, don’t care enough to appease your sensibilities. I’m pretty sure your eyes will fall out if I show my montage of Warriors and Mesmers.
You playing a war and a mes or you fighting war and mes?
If you show me a video of you killing tons of people using a war or a mesmer I will not be so much surprise, you’re a good player, you know how to make combos and keep the dps up. Don’t talking about how good mesmer and warrior is in this meta, when used by someone that know what he’s doing.
If you show me a video where you brutally own bad war and bad mes all the time, my eyes wil not fall out for shure. Not if the enemy skill level is the same you show in the previous video.
A good warrior would just eat you alive without any kind of problem, expecially with your build, and a mesmer will be a good fight but will end at 90% with your death (mistakes happens, as you show plently of time in your video).
I just don’t like who post videos of bad fights talking about how his build can kill everyone while it’s another remake of old builds everyone throwed out of the window because ineffective at high level (and against players knowing what they’re doing and with they’re skills ready).
You’re a good player, I just don’t like what you’re trying to say with that video: a lie.
If you want to make my eyes fall out try to make another video showing you killing players that don’t seems to came out of the lowest tier of this game, where they show how they’re good and you show how you’re better than them. Because in this video you show only how to kill a bad player, nothing more. And everyone know how to do that, still playing as a necro against a dh.
(edited by Silv.9207)
The biggest problem of players complaining about conditions damage is because they don’t think they should be killed by condition damage.
The main reason after the conditions able to kill is just because no one want to use something that grant you nothing.
Before the condi rework there was not a single condition build in game, no one used it (unless for few weeks of dhuumfire or ranger spirits, immediatly nerfed to the ground). They was used few times with bunker builds, that’s the reason back to the condi amulets with more than one defensive stat.
To grant more build variability ANet made the great choice to make conditions viable to kill people, removing the stack limit, making poison and burn stackable and granting to confusion a little amount of damage/sec.
But also ANet introduced Resistance, a boon able to make you ignore your conditions effects and damage and granting the perfect chance to kill every single condi user you see on your way easy and fast. (and they introduced it on the warrior, a class made to be weak to conditions… Devs choice…)
Then, they seen that condi amulets was too much tanky, then they removed all the bunerous ones and left the ones granting you only a single defensive stat (unless Sage, that no one use).
To make even better balance they added amulets with both the direct damage potential and a good defensive stat (or twoo: Mender amulet).
Now we have two possible source of damage, two ways to protect you from the enemy damage (example: protection and condi removal or direct damage immunity and Resistance) and amulets granting you good stats for both the source of damage.
More balanced than that..!!!!
What do you want???
Anyway, a good player will not stand in your wells for so long to grant you the kill or you will not last enough to see you victory, he just not even actived his elite (maybe he had several skills in cooldown, coming from a middle fight) and he died like a noob, nothing more. He was bad and you lucky. He can be a good player but in that case he just played bad, really bad. Two steps aside and he would be able to totally kill you without any problem.
The second one was outplayed because was bad, with for shure not a meta build or skills in cooldown. He don’t inflicted you any decent amount of damage, activated his elite too late, tried to flee from you giving you his back and granting you the victory in a noob way. He was shurely been took by surprise by your strong combo, but still he’s not a skilled player.
You recorded a victory against someone that made all the possible mistakes and don’t even get the final blow, fleeing around the corner while another one killed your target. He would probably kill you with a second burst if he had the chance (and if he was good as you say).
The last one just was using a bunker build bad for 1v1, trying to defend the point with all his skills in cooldown. yes, you killed him and he thinked he was able to stand a little more, eventually waiting for his cooldowns to end, but still you won one of the easiest fight ever! You won as the same way he would be able to kill you without lf and with all your skills in cd. Wow, he would be the best player ever and would totally be able to counter you! wow, magnificent! He’s the best player ever!
Seriously, that was not a fight to show in a video to show how strong your build is because you lose all your credibility with similar examples.
Turn back with another video where you fight real DH with no cooldowns and that don’t play bad, please. I’m be really curious to see your build during a Real fight. Just to know if it’s really viable or not.
I like the guy who used F3 and then immediately turned his back to you to run away.
That guy probably got feared.
The first time yes, the second time no, he was just so bad to turn his back to the enemy thinking that his F3 block also from behind.
