The condition(s) must exist prior to taking a hit that brings you down to 75% hp. If the condition is applied (or reapplied) after taking the hit that brings you down to 75%, like Enenion.8127, it must have been in cool down already.

LOL.

I can’t really be responsible for whatever misconceptions you have about my positions.

I mean, how did you get from “the benefit is irrelevant” to “there is no benefit”?

The only reason why benefit would be irrelevant is if there’s no benefit. If there is a benefit, then it would be completely relevant.

By saying that it’s irrelevant, you’re saying that it’s perfectly ok whether there is a benefit or there’s no benefit. I’m responding to your open assumption that having no benefit is perfectly fine.

Those two phrases are not even equivalent.

Eh? Are you saying then that having a benefit is irrelevant? O.o?

The word “irrelevant” means “doesn’t matter”, not “doesn’t exist”. If you want to have any kind of discussion at all, you’ll have to stop putting words in my mouth.

No. “irrelevant” means " it’s not related."

But using your definition, “benefit is irrelevant” means “benefit doesn’t exist”.

lol

The benefit is completely irrelevant.

LOL. If there’s no benefit, what’ the point of working together?

Wow! Just Wow!

Fact of the matter is, SoM and AR do not inhibit each other in any way, shape, or form. They work just fine together when it comes to providing you healing.

No they don’t. Are you that blind?!

A reverse example: Residual Venoms doesn’t “work” with Serpent’s Touch, because ST is not a Venom.

That’s not even close of being relevant.

These things are normally obvious to people, but somehow, you and I are here.

The only obvious part is the fact that you’re saying that because there’s a single use for AR then it’s something positive even though that single use it is completely over shadowed by other methods.

Having AR scale with Healing Power and not take SA is an obvious voluntary blindness to the facts on your part.

So I guess, from your perspective, Healing gears work well together with AR.

heh.

[…] you’re trying to make us believe.

I actually don’t care whether you believe it or not. As I said: it’s not subject to your approval.

Riiight. Well then, why do you object with the OP? doh!

I’ll make an attempt to explain it, out of kindness, but I’m perfectly content with you stubbornly misunderstanding the point for the rest of eternity.

Why explain it if you don’t care what I believe? You keep on stating the “facts” yet the facts shows that you’re wrong.

I guess saying this doesn’t advocate spending 30pts into Acro worth it;

Well, build are about choices, as they say. I combine SoM with AR occasionally, and it does work.

Correct; I am not advocating spending 30 points in Acrobatics here. I have a personal build that uses it occasionally, but it’s more for the Vitality/Boon duration, and AR can be a random throw-in when the added sustain is worth it.

In a void, AR is not really that good; it’s just better than an empty slot.

“uses it occasionally” … /facepalm

Yup, we see it here folks. Someone uses these skills/traits occasionally so it is better than an empty slot, let’s be glad.

sigh

Of course it is subject to my approval

It is not. SoM and AR working together is a fact; it’s not a matter for discussion. You may as well have said that Caltrops doesn’t apply bleeds, for all the sense that made. It’s fine if you choose not to combine them, but that’s a separate thing entirely from whether they “work” together or not.

Then explain to me how putting 30pts into Acro “working together” with SoM when it benefits more if that 30pts is spent in SA?

Your definition of “working together” is all messed up — and no it’s not a fact, it’s a fiction you invented that you’re trying to make us believe.

you’re trying to make a case that AR is worth spending 30pts on […]

Where? Find it. When you return in shameful failure, because I didn’t actually do that (make a case for AR being worth 30 points), maybe we can get back on topic.

I guess saying this doesn’t advocate spending 30pts into Acro worth it;

Well, build are about choices, as they say. I combine SoM with AR occasionally, and it does work.

Yup, you’re not making that case at all. /sarcasm

The problem I had with AR is the fact that it only triggers on 4 skills (skill#2 – skill#5) and nothing else. SoM triggers even when using utility skills and per projectile using Unload.

It’s a total waste of 30pts that are better spent somewhere else.

I strongly disagree. SoM and AR together doesn’t work.

Yes they do. It’s not subject to your approval. SoM’s healing and AR don’t over-write, cancel each other, or whatever. AR is just another source of healing you can combine with Blood sigils, food, etc.

Of course it is subject to my approval — I’m the one going to use it.

Any healing, especially AR, scales with Healing Power — and healing power is not in the Acro trait line, unfortunately, thus these duo suffers greatly unless you trait SA also — which if you do, you’ll never deal any damage.

You’re better off using Hide in Shadows with Shadow’s Rejuvenation.

Perhaps, but nobody ever said it was better than Shadow’s Rejuv, never mind that SR is isn’t even in Acrobatics.

Yes nobody, but you’re trying to make a case that AR is worth spending 30pts on which is untrue. Yes SR is a healing trait on the healing trait line — AR is a healing trait on a boon duration trait line.

You see the problem now?

Healing signet and adrenallin heals alone will completely outheal short bow damage. You will never get a warrior with a decent build to 60% useing a shortbow.
Not even in a million years, you can not slowly wear down warriors, their passive heals alone will screw you.

I strongly disagree. SoM and AR together doesn’t work. You’re better off using Hide in Shadows with Shadow’s Rejuvenation.

Unlike SoM, AR doesn’t trigger on Caltrops for example. Also unlike SoM that heals you per hit on Unload, during Unload, AR only heals you for 5xHealPwrCoeff (~350 hp) AFTER the Unload — really horrible. Also the fact that Heal Pwr is in SA trait line doesn’t help this trait at all.

I’m one of those who gave ArenaNet the benefit of a doubt and have extensively trying to make HtC and AR to work.

HtC only have one use, anti-stun from PW Thieves and Stun-lock Warriors. While ArenaNet attempts to stop the pigeon-holing into CS15, they instead attempting to pigeon-hole use into Acro 20. HtC not even a stun-breaker.

AR is something that is really really bad no matter how much they make this trait look nice and pretty. The heal you get from this trait is not worth 30 points in Acro. However, if they move this from 30 pt Acro to 30 pt Trickery by switching it with Hastened Replenishment, then having AR wouldn’t be too bad because it synergies with Trickery well.

ArenaNet needs to re-evaluate their balance team, especially the one who is assigned to the Thief profession and bring someone else who really understand the profession. The recent patches is evidence enough that the balance team has no clue concerning the the Thieves.

http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fYAQJAqKkI2e0TAAAvHkFAAA-jgBBYfBkIAIzsIasVRFRjVXDT5iIqWKgRFGB-e

76% base + 20% (fury) + 5% (keen) passive already goes over 100%. You can add more with on-kill sigil, or if P/P, Combo Critical easily gives another 5%. With full exotic, it’d still probably be very possible.

With Full exotic ‘zerker, you can only get to max 95% with curry + signet + fury, but still, that’s like 24/7 crit hits.

For my Valk, my base is 63% with cheap consumables, and fury + keen would put it at 88%, and if I wanted, combo-critical would put it over 90%. 5% crit-chance sigil is used, however, and other sacrifices have been made for survivability.

This is interesting.

@OP

I think the problem started here;

2051 Precision is 59% Crit Chance, 2072 Precision is 60 Crit Chance. Adding 3 precision infusions should be better than adding none, but we’ll have to check and make sure.

According to the builder, 2086 = 60%, that means, you need to add 5 Precision infusions which will affect your damage output.

Thanks for the help guys, it’s hard to picture it without the math.

It’s not melodramatic. He is posting bad analysis that could potentially cost someone hundreds of gold.

Again, let me take your attention to the OP’s post.

This thread is not for the discussion of trait setups or builds btw. This thread is only for discussion about the math behind gear sets, food, sigils and runes.

Your defense is laughable, even in the example he posted with food, signet, banner of Disc he didn’t include traits! He used Toxic oils instead of dungeon food! He is comparing Apples to Oranges in that very example. What kind of person would look at that and defend it as legitimate evidence of anything?

Again, if you read the post, you’ll find this;

This is going to assume youre one of those people running 30 Deadly Arts and 30 Critical Strikes.

My criticism was that he used incomplete and flawed inputs and gets incomplete and flawed outputs.

Again, if you read the post, you’ll find this;

If anyone would like to question this decision, please feel free to do so, and we can compare math between them and… whatever you want later in the thread.

The very things you quoted show that! You are basically pointing out examples of his horrible conclusions. The problem isn’t me failing to read his OP, it’s you failing to understand why the OP’s post is terrible.

Again, if you read the post, you’ll find this;

Good mathematical analysis should have a conclusion that helps the reader make a more informed decision. The OP’s analysis fails on that account.

In the context of end game pve, failing to account for traits/nourishments/utilities and common team buffs (banners, 25 Might, perma-Fury) causes the OP to reach suboptimal gearing conclusions. His bottom line conclusion is that people should buy pieces of assassins gear for their pve Thief, which is objectively incorrect, the result of incomplete or irrelevant analysis. Flawed inputs leads to flawed outputs.

Assassins – Sub Stat Power – DA30 – CS30 – 25 might Stacks – Assassins Signet – Sweet & Spicy Squash SoupToxic Oil – 5 Power/1 Precision Infusion
(2019 + 235 + 300 + 250 + (35 * 25) + 100 + (5 * 5)) * ((1 * .36) + ((1.5 + 1.19) * .64)) =
7918.4064 Damage

Standing next to a banner of discipline w/ fury[/u]
Assassins w/ Curry instead of Squash, 6 Precision infusions
(2019 + 235 + 300 + 250 + (35 * 25) + (5 * 0)) * ((1 * .02) + ((1.5 + 1.19) * .98)) =
9772.1598 Damage

Why is the OP drawing such vocal condemnation?

Because people did not read the whole post?

He is encouraging suboptimal choices which waste resources for casual players who would be mislead. This is a disservice to the community.

The OP provides the information for those who choose to pick up either gear set and I find it very helpful when picking a gear set for my Assassin Thief — however less important for my Power Valkyrie Thief.

Some of us like to support the community and do not want to see such disservices. The costs of Ascended armor is so high for a casual player that a gearing mistake is back-breaking.

There are such thing as target audience and if you’re not one of them, then this information is not for you. The OP specifically said,

“This thread is not for the discussion of trait setups or builds btw.”
“This thread is only for discussion about the math behind gear sets, food, sigils and runes.”

Thus, people posting misleading gearing information about ascended armor are being actively malicious, even if they don’t intend it to be. People who act maliciously and damage the community are not generally treated sympathetically.

Melodramatic much?

If you are being honest, you would have admitted that the only reason you were posting here were to advertise your twitch and did not even bother to respect the OP by reading what he had posted. It’s quite obvious you did not read the OP’s post.

Considering traits you can get +12% crit chance, both of these are semi-“passive” and available in the x/30/0/0/x setup. So yeah they do make a difference in regards to gear selection.

If that would be the case, then we should all pick up Valkeries because with x/30/x we can have 100% crit chance while in stealth.

Then if that is really the case, what’s the point of the ’zerker and ’ssin gears?

Which brings us back here to answer that question.

Stealth is too conditional though, I’m just talking passive bonuses like the op.

Actually if you review the OP, he did consider having 30pts into CS.

He sure did. Also included scholar runes which assumes being over 90% hp and with only 5points in CS gives +5% crit chance. Assassins gear is redundant.

Perhaps Assassin gears are not for 30CS builds? Which makes the comparison still valid because it’s still nice to see the base numbers of both sets side by side, so if I am to use either set in my Power build, I can determine the difference right away since the OP already did part of the calculation for me.

The most epic fun one in my opinion is that one place where you have to use the dwarven keys to enter and fight mobs in a pitch black dungeon and you have to keep the torch up if you want to survive.

Do you have data to suggest that players were not the reason for the progress?

To me, it’s just a coincidence.

Just like the voting between Ellen and Evon just happened to be 48 to 52% (iirc)?

Unless proven otherwise, it is coincidental.

But I have reasons to believe that the voting process was rigged from the beginning however my reasons are unsubstantial thus it remains as a theory.

My theory is that Ellen was already destined to win. How I know? Because Mai Trin already mentioned Scarlet prior to the election and we all know that Scarlet’s existence is connected to the Reactor’s explosion. I doubt that we would see Scarlet at the Fall of Abbadon fractal. So, for Evon to win, that would be a complete disconnect since Scarlet and Abbadon has nothing in common.

However the nightmare tower can be purely coincidental.

Ascended Gear Math

>No, it’s not clear at all since you have the same event (“attack is launched”) triggering both.

You can have one event triggering different actions due to different conditions. How is this hard to understand? Just think of “conditions” as variables that, when not met, lead to the action not occuring.

Your use of terminology like “conditions as variables” is what making your claim lose credibility.

You can’t even post a comprehensive logical solution and you act as if you know the answer.

You got called out earlier by another poster as a non-coder. I believed it, now I know it. Event/condition/action is a super simple way of explaining triggering: When an event occurs (such as attacking) and conditions are met (such as not being stealthed, and entering stealth within a certain timespan between two more events such as casting and hitting) an action happens (such as disabling another trigger).

Ah yes, check for conditions after the event, which exactly how ArenaNet have their logic is setup. Good job making sense of your solution.

Fixing your logic should appear like this (using your method for your benefit);

Event: player.Stealth = True
Action: projectileStatus.fromStealth = True

Event: player.AttackLaunched = True
Condition: projectileStatus.fromStealth = True
Condition: projectileStatus.IsDealtDamage = True
Action: player.IsRevealed = True

Your trigger solution did not make any sense at all.

You are the kind of unenlightened, trolling filth that makes these forums unbearable and ineffective for both anet and actual players. I’ve pooped on every single pathetic attempt at arguments you’ve made and yet you persist on coming back like a beaten wife and opening your dumb facehole when you shouldn’t ever again. YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT AND YOU ARGUE BACK? STOP IT ALREADY.

Here’s a a trigger to help you out the next time you’d like to post:

Event: You post on forums.

Condition: You are “Sir Vincent III”
Condition: You don’t know anything.

Action: Delete your posts.

That’s all you got? Typical.

I didn’t read the math, I just read your opening statement and the conclusion.

Why suggest what gear to get without even considering traits? That’s kind of useless if you ask me. For example, you’re saying to take Assassin’s gear, but I’m able to get nearly (or I do get) 100% crit chance with my exotic zerker gear. Ascended assassin gear would just put me further past 100%, and have me waste possible power.

You should probably try accounting for everything that may affect damage before telling people what kind of gear is better.

The point of the math is to show which gear is better in certain situations. The traits were not accounted for so that you can evaluate the passive stats with your current build.

Basically, the OP is offering a shell of passive stats where you can place your build and see how that works for you. The comparison of both sets are mainly to show the difference between the two sets. I am personally curious about the math also because I have 2 Thieves; one is wearing a full Assassin gear that seems to deal more damage than my Power build Thief.

Even if traits were considered, if both ‘zerker and ’ssin Thieves are using the same trait build, it will still comes down to what gears you’re wearing — so for clarity, I think that OP is right to leave the traits out of the picture and leave it up to us to finagle the numbers from this baseline.

Just going to go ahead and mention that since you don’t take Signet of Agility or Side Strikes into your calculations, all that work which looked laborious, was completely wasted. Flawed premise = flawed conclusions, unfortunately.

The thread is about maximizing passive stats so traits like Side Strike are not part of his calculations — which that OP had stated at the beginning of the thread.

This thread is not for the discussion of trait setups or builds btw. This thread is only for discussion about the math behind gear sets, food, sigils and runes.

Why was the Antitoxin Meter faked?

First there’s the player desire to rush content. If the progress was truly based on player action, the event could have been finished in days. (and based on percentage of player involvement likely would have been as long as the targets were reasonably considered it would have been). That just wouldn’t work when you’ve locked yourself into the sort of in stone time frames that ANet has chosen for GW2.

Not necessarily. When it comes to anti-toxin or anti-biotics, taking the medicine more often than directed would have not been very effective because you have to let the medicine mutate with the immune system. So no, I highly doubt that player’s input would have hasten the process.

I do, that is it. I stopped recording around Thanksgiving, but as you will see if you do the math, 25% was at 7 days, 50% at 14 days – and it ended today at 28 days. That’s too convenient to be a coincidence at all.

Your data is inconclusive because what if the initial dose of anti-toxin gradually takes effect over time even without additional player input? And with player input, it just gives it a slight more boost in effect?

You can take a fever reducer medicine and gradually feel better over time, or you can take the medicine every 4hrs to increase its effectiveness but still feeling better will take some time.

My point is, there are other possibilities to safely accept that your assessment is accurate.

You can’t say they changed nothing at all when they actually did.

That would have been a buff having Trickster at lower tier, but of course Thief are not suppose to get buff so they scrapped the idea because they thought that putting Flanking Strikes deeper was an actual nerf.

Sigh. If “unstealthed” is the “neutral stance” … then why do you have to check for it?

Because attacks made out of stealth are the ones that reveal you undesirably. You therefore need to check for this.

Having “out of stealth” as the “default” status requires no checking because you know…it’s the default status.

Just stop posting in my thread now.

Gladly.

You claim you have the solution but when it comes down to it, you can’t even make a single logical flow.
