Made my armor set in one go, I just stockpiled materials until I had enough. Damask was the slowest, ofc, since it’s timegated, but once I almost had all I needed, I bought the rest and crafted the armor. As for ascended mats… lol. I have a mule character whose only purpose in life atm is to hold my Bloodstone Dust stacks, and he only has 15 slots left… And another char for Dragonite and Empyreal Fragments. And I also still have 32 ingots of each of the 3 asc mats (made 50 of each in one go when I was levelling armorcrafting to 500 so I could get from 450 to 475 for free)…
Dragonite is indeed the hardest to come by, but “hardest” here seems like an overstatement: it’s still very easy to obtain, just not as easy as the other 2. But I guess you can’t get it if all you do is chat up LA or oggle at passers-by.
I really hope they add more sinks for this stuff, I don’t want to delete any of it and I am slowly getting to the point where I just won’t have room for it anymore.
You’re gonna need a metric ton of laurels if you ever plan to craft ascended gear, so you might want to save some for those. Otherwise, if you are not in dire need of cash, I would just stockpile them since they are a very limited resource. If you need cash, just buy the heavy material bags, you’ll get 3 t6 mats out of them so 1l = 1 – 1.5g, which isn’t bad.
The game itself does not encourage passive defense, you need to learn to position yourself, move away and dodge at the right moment. This is key, no amount of toughness will save you if you don’t master dodging and positioning.
If you want group support (bear in mind that warriors only offer offensive support), go Phalanx Strength/Empower Allies build with Strength runes (max out Arms and Tactics and the remaining 2 points in either Discipline or Strength). However, this build usually camps GS – dunno if it can be made for Axe and still maintain its efficiency, but you can always try. The main reason why I think it wouldn’t work is because GS has an awesome interaction with PS in the form of the Arms Master trait Forceful Greatsword (Gain might on a critical hit with a greatsword or spear. Reduces recharge on greatsword and spear skills.). You basically apply partywide Might on every crit you land, and you will be landing a lot with this build. And, in the end, you will be sitting at around 25k HP due to maxing out the Tactics track for PS, so you will be tankier than your average selfish DPS warr glass canon. But, again, this tankiness does not matter much in a game where attacks usually one-shot you if you don’t dodge. When I run this build, I use GS+LB (it helps for might blasting).
As for offhand (if you wanna go Axe main), you can use w/e you want and the situation demands, as long as it’s not a shield. Maybe a second Axe is good for overall use, while swapping for Mace when facing tough non-boss mobs or Sword when facing champs.
As a last note, by all means play with the weapons you want, but bear in mind that many situations will ask for a different approach; if you are willing to adapt and change your weapons/gear/skills for certain situations, you and your party will only benefit from it. I always carry one of each weapons with me, and 2 Axes – it’s a tough world out there and you never know what you will need!
GL.
P.S.: these suggestions are for PvE only.
Made a sylvari necro a long time ago for the sylvari race achievements, named her Craves Electrolytes.
Made a guardian to farm EotM, named her Totally Not Farming.
The other day I walked around EB as a quaggon with a bawoon!
Of course there are times when enemy players with run around with you, even transform into something and walk around with you.
But then you also have the red=dead players. Even though you clearly pose no threat, even to a rabbit; not only will one enemy player jump at you with everything they have, I’ve had instances where 20+ have detached themselves from their zerg train just to kill little old quaggon.
You are a loot bag, nothing more, especially in such instances
I bet nobody ever thought of using this approach to scout the enemy…
Please note that we do not allow Match-up threads on the Guild Wars 2 forum…
Sorry, had to be said!
SMC is not a dueling area.
This.
While I have no quarrel with people wanting to duel others in a honorable 1v1, I will always attack an enemy in EB or BL regardless of my allie telling me it’s a duel. These maps have a limited number of slots and that bloke who wants to 1v1 is not only not helping his world, but he is actually hurting it by taking up a slot in the map which could be occupied by someone who wants to actually help the war effort. If you want to duel, Obsidian Sanctum and actual sPvP is there for you. Or even EotM.
Anyone knows the expiry date of these tickets. Or is there a way to sell them on tp or a way to profit from them? I have no use for the tickets.
I don’t think they expire since ANet plans to get more seasons for WvW which will reward more such tokens, and they did say that you can keep the tokens from this season to add to those of future seasons for more rewards.
I think the only way to proffit from these tokens is to either get obby shards (300 for 600 tokens) which you can then use to craft legendary and sell/craft ascended gear, or to just buy WXP containers and rank up and hope to get some shinies out of the chests (12 ranks for 600 tokens).
Mace and axe.
The mace I wanted ever since I first saw it, it was the best mace skin for me in-game; however, after they revealed the Mistforged skins, they brought back the Pavilion and the Sovereign weapons, so I had another shot at the Sovereign Mace (which, being silly back then, I didn’t buy when it was first out). So I guess it will be a while before I actually use the Mistforged Mace, at the moment the Sovereign one is the clear favorite.
The axe… I just didn’t know what else to get besides the mace. And the axe skin is nice, but only a 3rd favorite for me: my warrior mainhands a Tormented Axe (even though it is completely at odds with his look, the GW1 nostalgia and the call of his legacy is too strong) and a Beacon of Light for offhand, when necessary. But I think I will put it straight on the ranger I am experimenting with atm, saves me the trouble of spending some dungeon tokens to get an exo weapon for her.
As for the next tournament, I think I will get the shield, which looks very nice. But by then I might finish my Flameseeker Prophecies, so it will be kinda pointless. Spear is also nice, but atm I have the Al’ir’aska and, again, GW1 nostalgia gets the better of me and I will probably always use this. And Trident is not bad at all, in fact I would say one of the best Trident skins. None of the other weapons really appeal to me. Ah, well. There will be plenty of time to decide…
If you want to do serious damage while wielding Twilight, I would say go Warrior. None of the other aforementioned classes rock a GS as hard as a Warrior does when it comes to DPS.
But here is the cool part: legendaries are now account bound on equip (not soulbound), so you can use it on any of your chars that can use a GS and swap it to another character whenever you want. So you just make the blade and all 3 chars and decide for yourself which one fits you best. It will be a lengthy process but, if you go about it right, it can be fun.
If you want to WvW, then JQ is where you want to be.
Losing your progress is an important part of the fractal experience.
This.
Of course people will kick you to deny you progression, they’re just picking up where ANet left it when they removed 20 levels worth of player progression. I think this players-kicking-others-to-deny-them-progression will somehow be one of the tiebreakers for the fractal leaderboard. After all, it needs to be fair: older players’ progression must be slowed down so that newer players who just start fractals don’t feel left out and have a shot at ranking high on the leaderboard. Actually, I think it would be better if fractals progression would be reset back to 0 periodically (say, every 2 months or so?). 100% fairness. Yessir.
you can get dragonite at 60 or 70 in EotM I’m pretty sure
You can only get ascended material at level 80. Not 60, not 70 and not 79.
Aaaaaaand another one of these threads pops up for our entertainment. Ty, OP!
So while before this extra granting 100 tickets every server up to 5th place could have ONE mistforged heroes weapon.. after this so called "granting everyone additional " 100 tickets gives servers who won leagues a bonus of another weapon….
lame.
It is indeed very lame for ANet to reward the winners more than the rest. Yes, very lame. This is a serious issue and should definitely not have been put in from the start. Mhm.
Because bobbles have everything to do with might and magic, and guilds and wars.
/sarcasm
Well in that case you can be happy that Anet expected some people to not like it and made it so that only the people using it can see it. So it doesn’t affect your gameplay at all. Isn’t that great? =D
It is beyond great, it’s awesome! They finally managed to deliver on something many poeple wanted WITHOUT imposing it on those who did not (myself included).
Awesome job, ANet! Keep up the good work!
Kiss my tail!
After you get the buff, do the people around you who don’t have it see you normally or with the bobblehead? Please say “normally”…
I’d have gone with 42.
2. T6 materials. Asides from spending all my laurels on heavy crafting bags, spending festival tokens and Mystic Clover forging (thanks for all that wonderful leather, by the way, I nearly got a silver by selling those -sarcasm-), there is no solid way to get them other than the TP, where – unsurprisingly – the prices are ridiculous. Powerful blood is now over 50s each, and that’s just for one material of the 8 needed. If you buy the T6 mats, the cost for all will more than likely exceed the cost of the precursor.
Now you may think “why don’t you just promote T5 materials into T6 with the Mystic Toilet?” I would, in any other circumstances, but with the Bifrost, I need a whole 500 Crystalline Dust, ANOTHER material which has a terrible drop rate, so until I get those, I can’t consider using 5 of them at a time. Any other Legendary, this isn’t a big problem, but with the Bifrost, it is.
You also said you’ve been at it for more than a year. Let me do some quick math for you. In 10 months you should get 300 laurels from daily + 100 more from monthlies, so a total of 400 laurels. Converting these into t6 bags would get you 1200 t6 mats, which is 60% of what you need for a legendary. Just from laurels, and just for 10 months.
…
This defensive mentality then lowers the individual reward for others, because suddenly there are now defended keeps and an uncoordinated blob isn’t enough to ktrain, because now it takes longer to secure a keep and success may not even be possible.
You ask me, Why fight?
I’m asking YOU : Why aren’t you fighting ?Boo hoohoo people are defending and it’s not as easy to ktrain ?
Unless you’re willing to fight for it, and win, you don’t deserve that reward. You don’t deserve that dragonite. In fact, you don’t deserve loots, AT ALL!
This carebear-like “Why are j00 fighting?” bleeting is EXACTLY why I fight. I fight to keep the lot of you away from the dragonite. I fight to farm you and your zergling friends by the 50 when I tag all of you with burning oil. I fight because if the bags on legs walk into my slice, they don’t deserve to walk off unchallenged.
I fight to crush your choochoomander’s spirits and show them that just because you can blow 100g on a blue corn doritos doesn’t mean you have the capacity to fight and lead other players in a pvp environment. No pity for choochoomanders.
I fight…. because that’s what I do. It’s what I’m here for.
Coincidentally, Frostkeep is also an excellent “Maguuma command simulator” since you’re outnumbered all the time. So you have to make it work with what’s available. And believe me when I say this : Your tears empower me.
get help dude
+1
Stop trying to have EotM = WvW proper happen. It’s not going to happen. It’s there to take farmers away from both PvE and WvW so people who wanna play those properly can do it without trains everywhere. It also helps ANet test various concepts that they want to put in the game. And it’s a kitten nice place to level an alt.
If you’re looking for fights and strategy, strap on a pair of big boy pants and go do EB or BL. Or is going against people who wanna fight too much for you? Not as easy when the board hits back, is it? I get it that some people feel empowered by defeating others who have no interest in fighting them and are uplevels, but at some point you will have to grow up or seek professional help. Until then you’ll still be (physically or figuratively) puny, pathetic children who think that beating up on those weaker than you shows the world how great and strong you are. Go tuck yourself in.
(edited by SkyFallsInThunder.8257)
I second this, thank you very much! I’m so happy about this that I will overlook that this is a feature that should have been in the game since the start…
Such QQ. Very sadness.
For the life of me, I can’t see how you can farm for 1 (one) year for a legendary and NOT get it. What are you doing in-game, running naked in Divinity’s Reach and trying to spook NPC children? Counting sparkflies? PvP-ing?
PvE just throws cash at you, you just have to be willing to do the right content. Do you have any ideea how much gold you can make in one day just by running the EZ mode dungeons (AC1&3, CoF1, HotW1, SE1&3, CoE all, TA up&fw)?! How about taking those 2-3 minutes to put buy orders on TP for all mats needed for daily Damask&Steel, craft and sell for ~2g proffit or so? Or how about running with the eotm ktrain and then converting all karma and badges to gold (granted, badges conversion ratio sucks balls, but it’s something)? Running teq and the other world bosses for karma and rares→ectos→cash? Turning laurels into t6 mats? Taking advantage of temporary content and its special drops to make a few extra bucks? Not to mention learning the basics of the TP and maybe make a few bucks off it?
It sucks that precursor prices have increased dramatically, but it was to be expected with the wardrobe announcement and they seem to have stabilized now and possibly will start dropping slightly. But there are plenty of ways to earn gold, so stop whining and get to it if you really want the legendary.
Ascended rifle is very nice, but my all-time favorite is the Sovereign Arquebus.
I’m from JQ, finished meta in the first 2 weeks, got no reward and an achievement in the general WvW achievements tab for 5th place…
Very nice, but not 100% accurate.
Northern Shiverpeaks – correct up until the Jormag part. Jormag awoke under the Far Shiverpeaks, which are north of the Northern Shiverpeaks. The Northern Shiverpeaks of GW1 are now the Norn areas of GW2.
I’d imagine he means transferring an entire guild with all members and assets to another server. This would seem problematic to me since most guilds have people who have not logged on in ages and who might not approve of the transfer. A solution to this would be to give all members a message with the option to either transfer then or remain on the same server.
Methinks it would be a good ideea, but I have no clue how hard it would be to implement, so…
But there is progression. You work towards your legendary weapon. You get massive amounts of t6 materials, and you get precursors and lodestones from champ boxes. In no time you can make a legendary, just the way they advertised it!
Here the pve answer ! you didn’t understand his problem, the problem of who has arrived at 80.
I daresay Rezz was being ironic…
Season 2 week one, awesome threeway in the TCBL garrison: BG zerg in lord’s room, us inside at inner gate/wall and TC zerg on the bridge to the right with their endless stream of people coming from spawn. It felt like everyone in TCBL was there. Each zerg kept pushing at the others while contesting lord’s room so that BG could not cap, and the battle was intense for ~1h or so. BG won in the end and capped the garrison, but it was a kitten fine fight!
Towards end of this festival we’d be getting some clues, they said in interviews.
Evidence, Mike Zadorojny in Massively interview:
“Don’t worry; by the end of the festival, you’ll hear more about Season 2.”
This seems to be in the same category as “Don’t worry, there will be a new way to get precursors by the end of 2013”…
I was trying since living story get released. I pay 70 euro per month in hope game developers will be able to keep doing good job, BUT I simply have to get that title at least. I don’t have patience man.. I have to go to job and keep my business going… I can’t play gw2 24/7 and I am really tired from ONE boss. What should I do now, farm 12/7 and try to beat her for whole month like crazy? No thanks, that is so stupid.
You have to get it? Then get better and beat her up, just like the other tens of thousands of players have.
I wont try anymore. But I still want my title and miniature. I dont see solution for my problem. Also, I am not the only one out there who finds Liadri way too powerful. She should be challeging, but not in god mode as is now.
They nerfed her? Good but seems its not even close to what she should be when “nerfed”.
Wow, such entitlement… They’re not yours until you earn them. Quit whining and get better at the game. There are now tens of videos with strategies and tips, making the fight even easier…
Getting at least 2-3 meats is a MUST in this fight. Bring fear, KD, cripple, chill etc for Chomper and race him for the treats, otherwise you will have a bad time.
2-handed Axe.
We can no longer play how we want if we want to do dungeons, we HAVE to play the way a select group of players have decided to be the best way.
This is one of the stupidest statements I have seen on this forum, and that’s saying something. For the first part, see above. For the second part, the “select group of players” did not “decide” that is how others must play. They simply tested a lot of builds and playstyles, did a lot of math and came up with the conclusion that a party must do X and Y if they want to obtain Z result. You are free to ignore this (very valuable) research and play however the kitten you want, but do so alone or with people who share your opinions and stop bothering us “elitists”. I don’t care for sight-seeing in AC p3 on my #57809 run there.
3. U are level 2 that’s why those level enemy can one shot and killed u. For them not able to kill u, u have to be higher level then they are. Make sense?
actually I was asking, what on earth lvl9 son of Sl doing ing the lvl2-3 area. but never mind
Every starter area is for level 1-15. Each sub-area of it is for different values between 1 and 15. What could have happened is you went out of the level 2-3 sub-area into a level 8-10 sub-area and did not notice (it’s hard to tell other than looking at mobs’ levels, you’ll just have to be more careful).
My list for Favors so far:
1. Mini Panda
2. Sovereign Mace
3. Sovereign Longbow
4. Dolyak Tonic
Definitely getting #1 and 2, not sure yet about the others but that is the order in which I am getting them. It’ll matter how much will the favors go down in price on the TP since I don’t put my hopes in RNG.
Wait, the Flying Dolyak can only be donde one single time and the reward depends on the numero of participants? What happens when moST have completed it?
You can only complete it once per race, meaning you can’t finish it and then go back to start and run it again to add another succesful finish to the overall score of that race. But you can of course complete as many races as you like, you just need to wait for a new one to begin. The timers are awful, btw. And there is very little flying in this “Flying Dolyak Race” (although there is enough little dolyak). It’s just a watered-down guild rush, I will probably do another for the chievo and never ever touch it again while purging it from memory.
Is nothing sacred?
The gem store is.
I do not think sprockets were added this patch, even though the Pavilion is back. That makes this pick very strong…
You can buy the Sprocket Generator for the home-instance though.
You can buy it? From the TP?
This thread needs 6 more replies now…
Wait, people still read WvWvW patch notes?
Wait, ANet still bothers to post WvW patch notes?
Sure! We had a good handful of huge fights, and all of them (except one Keep attack) were our victories!
No offense, but winning the cripple fights isn’t something really noteworthy and especially so if you were green, for obvious reasons.
However, it’s always nice to see people taking up commanding and actually pinning up, so kudos to you for that. Keep honing your commanding skills, but don’t expect WvW proper to be anything like EotM: the sooner you get into the real action, the better it will be for you(r commanding future).
Cheers.
Since sprockets have gotten pretty high in price, this gives a distinct advantage to the people who have them over those who don’t. This issue still needs to be addressed…
Yeah… I wanna see before I judge.
Btw, did you miss this “Adjusted the drop rates for ascended weapon and armor boxes in higher-level fractals; drop rates now scale better with each fractal level.”?
Oh, awesome, they reduced the ascended weapon/armor drops even more!
Blessing.
I’ve had the gw1 experience of direct player trading and it was very very easy for players to not know the true value of their stuff and sell for close to nothing some items that were worth a fortune (anyone remember spamadan powertraders?). This way you can see the TP value immediately. There is also no possible scamming. And while some players (or groups of players) can try and sometimes succeed to influence the values on the TP, it does not last too long and overall the good the TP does far outweighs the bad.
The best dragonite source – Temples in Orr. You get 30 dragonite from each, so it stacks pretty fast. The only downside is that they are not on the official schedule, so you will have to randomly go to Orr to see if any are up.
Hardly “in a row”, but the only 2 precursors that I got as drops were both The Bard. The first one from the first Karka event endchest 2 lifetimes ago, the second from a veteran ele in Snowblind Fractal ~3-4 months ago.
How orwellian of ANet…
Dungeons = Deathtraps. World Events = Perfection. What's up with this?
