Warrior with GS+Axe/Mace, 30 25 0 0 15. You can swap Mace for Sword when fighting bosses. Fast Hands makes your swap CD be 5 secs instead of 10, so endless rotation of awesome DPS.
Thief. Maybe Mesmer, but I think Thief would satisfy you more.
The current living story installment is almost over and a new chapter will begin in March-April or so. And even with this one, the best is still to come; most LS updates so far have been rather dissapointing.

Try this, if you haven’t already.
I find it highly doubtful that we will get a trinket legendary simply because it’s an invisible item. What is more likely is a backpiece IMO.
I get this sometimes, but I can’t swap weapons at all (moving or standing) until i open the Hero panel and press the swap button there; after that it works fine again.
But if you keep getting this, it must be a bug and you should submit a ticket.
You might want to preview in the TP the Flame and Frost dyes from the Frost series, some of them are very nice and I think would pair nicely with Mjolnir. They are a bit expensive, but it may be worth it. And if you could afford Mjolnir, I don’t think 50-100g for dyes is out of your league. I got Pyre for my warrior, paid all cash I had at the time and never regretted it!
In GW1 all my characters were named [something] Qais, so the “family” name kinda stuck to me. So my GW2 characters are named Qais and I added something to reflect the class they are. As a result, my warrior is Qais Of The Fury, my guardian is Qais Of The Many, engineer is Qais Of The Gears and so on.
Just pick something you like and roll with it, but remember about the name length limitation and that spaces count, too!
Warrior or Ranger. Perhaps Ranger is better.
Between Kasmeer-the-naive-ish and Marjory-the-pragmatic, the film 7even comes to mind…
It would be anticlimactic, but what happens to her illusions if Kasmeer dies? You know what I mean…
alright so it seems like if im getting good with one of the classes i contribute more to a group
Pretty much. Eles can be awesome due to high DPS, AoE heals and those highly effective ele weapons. But they are hard to play and the piano reference is not misplaced – you will have to swap attunements quite a lot.
Ele’s are squishy…also bottom of the food chain in the current meta, unless you are awesome at playing the piano, in which case you will be a awesome Ele…
Did a FOTM 49 last night with 2 eles in party, they were beyond awesome. The warriors got downed sometimes, the guardian got downed sometimes, the eles just laughed and kept going. Not a single down.
Good eles are fantastic. Then again, good [insert any class here] are fantastic.
Choose what you like and get good at it.
It took me 3 months to make Sunrise and the costs should be about the same for Juggernaut. You just need to be more efficient about what you play and use your resources wisely. Run dungeons like a madman (5 per day minimum, I did SE 1, HotW 1, CoF 1, AC 1&3, depends on how much time you have – I would also recommend CoE all paths since charged cores/lodestones drop there and these are the most expensive), buy exotic headpieces with tokens, salvage with BL kits and sell the extra ectos and insignia. Use laurels to buy t6 mats. Upgrade lower lvl mats to higher level. Craft asc mats daily if there is a proffit in doing this. Do world bosses, especially Teq, hunt AP for the chests you get every 500 points. Salvage all your rares with a Mystic Salvage Kit for ectos. Never idle; if you find yourself idling, go and join the Queensdale champ train until you decide what to do. Put yourself in as many situations as possible where you have a chance at a good drop.

It depends much on the server you are on and the race your char is. If it’s a low population server, that would explain the few people you meet. If your char is anything other than human or norn, then you will barely find any other players on your starting area. Tons of players in Queensdale and some in Wayfarer Foothills, though.
Your best bet is to just ask on map chat that you are looking for a partner for [insert what you want to do here]. Most of the times you will find people. If there are few or no replies, go to Lion’s Arch and repeat the process. Joining a guild would also help a lot with this.
The LFG tool is used mostly for dungeons and other instanced stuff. There is an Open World section, I think, but I don’t know how much it is used.
Either Kodan or Tengu seem plausible, but I don’t really care. I will always play human.
I am fairly certain that they said that, starting with Fractured or so, fractal weapons won’t drop as weapons, but as chests from which you can choose the skin you want. This seems ideal to me (I’ve been looking for that fractal sword for a while now). However, it seems they failed to deliver on this.
However, I’ve been bummed out on fractals since the update; I used to do 48 runs daily, now I got to PR39 and just stopped doing fractals. The new scaling system sucks, the drops are worse, the instabilities are kinda meh and the uninfused rings you get as reward for lvl 30+ are just insulting. Oh, and now you can transform the Pristine Relics into regular ones at a ratio of 1/15. Wow. Amazing. :|
More on-topic, I agree with OP.
The cash rewards should vary more between lvl 1 and 49. A 5 gold reward for completing a lvl 49 seems reasonable to me, as opposed to a 1g reward from lvl 1.
Dredge fractal should either be removed or AT LEAST have that stupid clown car taken out. Granted, it’s a good farming spot for heavy bags, but it’s just a timewaste.
Someone suggested that you should be able to pay 5 fractal weapons to get one of your choice – this seems a very, VERY nice solution to me. Those kitten ed spears and shields are just collecting dust in my bank and are taking up valuable storage space.

Your PR level is 7. You can do any fractal and you will get one daily bonus chest. Period.
Once your PR goes to 11 and beyond, only then will you be able to get more daily bonus chests. When your PR is 11, you can do a FOTM lvl 11 (or higher) for one daily, and another FOTM of any level between 1 and 10 for another daily. When you get to PR21, you will be able to get 3 bonus daily chests if you do the appropriate levels.
I hope this helps.

Legendaries are a WvW weapon. WvW participation should be required.
Legendaries are a PvE weapon. PvE should be the only requirement.
Legendaries are weapons for those areas where they can be used. That means both PvE and WvW at this time. There is talk about adding sPvP, but unsure as to how it will work.
That’ll give us Destiny’s Edge v2.0 with a golemancer, ranger, warrior, mesmer, and thief.
golemancer, ranger, guardian, mesmer and necromancer.*
I thought Jory was a thief. Never was clear on that though. She’s good with poisons and antitoxins as we know, and I thought that was explained as being a thief-like trait. She is a sneaky investigator after all.
Wiki says she’s a necro though so my mistake.
Her weapons of choice are Axe/Dagger. Thieves can’t use axes.
Except that it doesn’t represent the complete game experience. Specially if you can buy it.
Being able to buy it does suck, that should never have been an option. They went a bit wrong about the legendaries, but one can’t really turn back time. The fact that you need to do WvW in order to get legendaries is a good thing, that is one of the things you can’t exactly buy. And, having played PvE, WvW and sPvP, I can tell you it’s far easier for a PvE-oriented person (I am one, too) to do WvW than having to do sPvP. Pure PvP is a completely different animal.
From what I gathered from your replies, you did try to do WvW but were unable because of technical issues which should not have arisen if the minimum game specs are met. You say they are, so you should really get in touch with Support and see what can be done (if you already haven’t). I am not particularly tech savvy, but IIRC there is a program that you can run and send them the results for annalysis, after which they can tell you why it’s not working. And you should take it for granted that, when they say what minimum specs are, they mean minimum specs that will allow you to do ALL aspects of the game decently. Zergs clashing in WvW make all systems run a bit sluggishly, but freezing and crashing is unacceptable when you meet their requirements.
There is nothing wrong with having no desire to participate in the other games modes, and there is nothing wrong with desiring not to have to.
There is indeed absolutely nothing wrong about this. As there is absolutely nothing wrong with not being able to obtain an item that represents the complete experience of all game aspects if you do not want to experience all those game aspects.
I have no issues working towards goals, but I take issue with being forced into other play modes that I don’t enjoy playing.
You contradict yourself again. It seems to stem from not understanding the concept of “work” properly.
And, as many people have already stated, getting r30 is overly easy.
Anyhow, I would like to re-state my suggestion from a previous post:
ANet, please undo this change for now! Make an announcement that it will come again live and for good in 1 month or so, so that people working on them have time to adjust their legendary progression! It has been done with karma buff nerf, it can be done now!
Really, having options and alternate avenues is not a bad thing. So long as each requires the same amount of effort.
While this is a valid point, you do not seem to grasp what legendaries represent. They are (or should be) the very best, tier 1, most awesome item you can get in the game. A celebration to the complete enjoyment of this game. Period. You can’t obtain this by several different ways because of the absolute they should represent. There should be only one thing to do to get them:
Everything.
I don’t have any issues working for it. My issue comes into play when I have to do kitten I didn’t plan on doing because it’s not my play style and I know I’m not the only one.
You contradict yourself.
And by the logic in your second sentence, someone whose playstyle is sitting-in-LA-and-chatting-and-just-that should also be able to obtain it by the means of his “playstyle”.
If they want to try those modes, it should be a personal choice, not shoved down their throat.
And who is shoving the legendary down your throat? Didn’t you decide on your own that you want one? Taking part in WvW was always part of getting a legendary, but it got screwed up by the addition of ten million billion badges of honor to the AP chests.
I phsycally can’t follow the zerg in WvW. My system simply won’t support it. I freeze and crash.
That does suck, but did you check the minimum recommended specs for this game before buying it? If you are within those, then this is indeed a problem and you should contact support. If not…
It has been sort of tied-in. If you went into the LA living story instance during The Origins of Madness (it might still be there), you could see Rox talking to Rytlock Brimstone about it: Rytlock sent Rox to kill Teq in order to test her and see if she is worthy of joining his Stone warband (Rox lost her previous warband and is now a gladium); Rox helped and brought a chunk of Teq’s tail to prove it. Then Rytlock sends her on one final mission before accepting her, against the Marionette. There is also the dialogue between Braham and Rox where we get that Rox just does not get it that she already is in a warband, with Braham and… well, I guess just him.
It’s a very weak tie-in, but I think that’s all there will be to this. Teq is too far-off to be otherwise related, but who knows?
I didn’t say i was persecuted by the introduction of this update, but by erasing my post and getting a warning point. My english might be bad, but i still have my intelligence. I don’t think either of you understands. We don’t have a problem with the fact that legendary requires grinding, money, time. But with the fact they changed that know! Without saying anything. I was 20 shards away from it. I could of have those. Someone was 3 badges away. No one let us know anything, we are unsignificant people. We already bought the game. And is not fair the fact that those who bought them already didn’t have to do that frustrating rank grinding in a place they hate. Maybe now i explained it better for everyone to understand. I don;t think anet will care now that we have complains, but it’s just a place to expose the frustrations.
This is a valid point.
A good solution would be to undo this change and put it back in, say, a month or so. They did it with karma buff nerf, why not now? And there should be a big announcement about this, too, not some ninja-move like this. This way people who are working on legendary now have time to adjust their progress, while the people who will start on it in the future will know they have this added difficulty.
It is still unfair, this should have been in the game since the very beginning, but there you go.
I don’t think you can enter dungeons at level 20, so you might need to get to level 35 before being able to use that strategy on AC, which is the lowest level req dungeon.
I would think either WvW or the Queensdale champ train.
You can also PvP and use the glory you get to buy Tomes of Knowledge, which give you 1 level per. But they cost 1.500 glory and 20s each, so a bit pricy…
It’s pretty hard to make them available at lower AP count since there are already people who have 20k+ AP…
While we’re at it let’s force the wvw’ers to get rank 20 in spvp to get their gift of battle. It’s only fair.
Getting a legendary should have NOTHING to do with sPvP. Why? Simple: you can’t use your legendary in sPvP. If they change that, sure. But otherwise sPvP and PvE/WvW are two completely different worlds.
On-topic, I think the r30 is a good ideea BUT it should have been implemented from the start. Everyone should have been forced to get to r30 in order to craft a legendary. As it is, people wanting to craft one now are at a disadvantage compared to people who already did it, and that is not nice on the part of ANet. However, since you can just buy your ranks with 60 laurels and some badges of honor, of which you have about ten million billion about now due to achievement chests, this should definitely not be a problem; your legendary will simply cost 60 laurels more, which is very little compared to the total amount needed. 60 laurels is ~50g, I would say.
Let’s not forget that legendaries are prestige items and the quest to obtain them should be… well… worthy of legend? It should take you through all the aspects of the game (PvE and WvW, not sPvP for the reason above) before you can craft them. And legendaries should be account bound on crafting IMO; they should not be tradeable on the TP. Precursors yes, but not the legendaries. It takes a lot from their awesomeness that you can just buy them with a credit card. They should have more components that require actual gameplay to obtain, not a credit card.
I was just 20 shards away from making my first legendary weapon. I don;t want and never wanted to play www. I play gw since the begining, 8 and a half years ago. Today i quit. Forever. Thanks arenanet, you’re the best. I’ll make sure every one on every single forum in this internet knows what you just did to us.
I’m sorry, mate, but this is ridiculous. They added a cost of 60 laurels to the ~2k gold you need to spend to make a legendary. Granted, it sucks, but it’s not the end of the world.
(edited by SkyFallsInThunder.8257)
Crafting a legendary is a nice journey. Everyone can and should make it at their own pace IMO. If you start driving yourself to just farm farm farm, there is no more joy left in the game.
You should still play what you like, but focus a bit on making and not spending cash. The game throws money at you in so many ways that you will not feel the time passing before you start accumulating what you need.
Try to cut idle times to 0. You are idling in LA? Go to Queensdale and join the farm train until you decide what to do, it’s basically the same amount of effort. You have 10 mins to spare? Go do a CoF p1. Be efficient.
Of course, any and all other expenses must be as low as possible in order to gather what you need for the legendary.
I had a great time crafting mine and it only took some 3 or 4 months from the day I decided to get it until the MF made my Sun Rise.

There is a WvW euro guild on JQ called Legacy of Noah, with the tag [NOAH]. Their leader is Kaisez. You should try looking them up if you do join Jade Quarry. Which you should. Blackgate has been top dog long enough.
You could join us on Jade Quarry and hunt down some blackgates…
As I am approaching the 2,000 hrs mark, I agree completely…
Never had a ascended drop…
What do you mean? I got three ascended rings in five Lvl11 fractal runs from the daily chest.
I think he means Ascended weapons or armor. Rings drop by the trillion from FOTM, but these drop very rarely.
This would be pretty cool.
In theory, the daily bonus chest you get from world bosses has a bigger chance than any other chest to give you a precursor. I never got one from it, only rares and once or twice an exotic.
You could throw in rare or exotic greatswords in the Mystic Forge, but you would need a good pile of gold to invest before you get Dawn or Dusk… if you get them at all.
Precursors drop very randomly. I got 2 so far, both Bards – one from the karka chest at the end of the big event from 2012 and the other as a drop from a vet ice ele in a lvl 48 snowblind fractal before update.
As Xista said, best way is to just farm the gold. That’s how I got my Dawn. And while you’re doing this, make sure to put yourself in as many situations where you could get it as a drop – dungeon chests, world bosses chests, fractals chests etc. You never know when you will get lucky.
Cheers.
Mesmer has little to none AoE, while warriors cleave their way into anything. However mes has incredible single-target dmg. Both are wanted in FOTM and dungeons, same for WvW… You would just have an easier life as a warrior due to high HP and heavy armor. And you will be more easily accepted in pug groups as a warrior, since pug mentality is “the more heavies, the better”, while kicking any second mesmer that joins the group. It’s silly since 2 mesmers in a group can be pretty awesome, but there you go.
I myself main a warrior and am very happy with my choice.
You can. It’s a rich one since it’s a bit of a challenge to get to it. Go south a bit from where you are right in the screenshot, that’s where you can start your climb. There should be vids on youtube, methinks.
If you’re on US, the tier one servers are Blackgate, Jade Quarry and Sanctum Of Rall. Any of these has a strong WvW presence, althought getting into Blackgate is rather hard since it is top WvW server atm and is full. But you can join us on Jade Quarry and help bring them down!
Killing Tequatl also gives you ~10k karma, and it takes far less than a FOTM run.
I do AC 1&3, SE1, CoF 1 and HotW 1 daily and this gets me ~7-8g in solid cash. Transforming dungeon tokens into cash also adds a bit to that amount, but not overly much. I would imagine people who run more dungeons can get more, but to get to 35g per day through PvE… That seems a bit much. Even if you craft all ascended mats and sell them, the proffit from that is not what it used to be.
You can get more gold if you have lucky drops, but that does not happen so often.
I think you do the best you can do atm with the drops that you get. But you might want to consider transforming your (probably) huge WvW-earned karma wallet into cash, if you want more shinies.
I would definitely love a trait reset for WvW masteries, and I think a lot of people would not mind being able to rearrange their points…
Great ideea with the poll! It’s funny that out of all the people that voted so far, 2/3 are for one option, while the other 1/3 is formed from BOTH the other option AND the people who are abstaining.
Your move, ANet.
I agree with OP, there are these little things that kinda ruined the Marionette experience. When you depend on others to get achievements, then there is a problem. The avoid achievements should be awarded regardless of what the other platforms do, all that should matter is what your platform does because that is the only place where you can put your skill to the test and, you know, ACHIEVE something; if you kill the champ, destroy the regulator and do the avoid and all other platforms fail and the entire event fails, you should still get the achievement.
Otherwise, a great fight and I would appreciate to see more stuff like this in the future. Maybe they’ll learn from their mistakes and polish the rough edges.
I said it in the first thread, and I am repeating it now: ANet must either give this bonus to ALL EL picks and same-tier in-game picks, or remove it completely. P2W will lead to bad things in the long run.
I also think it’s disrespectful on ANet’s side that they haven’t given a response to the outrage caused by this issue, but they did have the time to close the previous thread. A post from them in this thread or other announcement about this would be greatly appreciated.
Please don’t let this topic die and be forgotten!
The engineer has an utility skill called Personal Battering Ram which knocks back the foes in front of you. The animation for this is your character thrusting his crotch at the enemies and they are thrown backwards.
Nuff said.
I’m not sure because I did not care at the time about this armor, but people on the forums keep saying that at first tier 3 was a lot cheaper, like 30g or so for the full set. And then they increased the price to add another cash sink.
