The LFG tool is awesome and very useful, but I think it can be improved slightly if there would be 2 tabs for each category, one for speedrun/zerker-only/10k-AP-or-kick party searches, and one for casual party searches.
I think this would mostly help the casual players, those who do dungeons for the first time or those who want to take them slowly. At least there might be a bit less complaining on the forum about the “zerker/stacking mentality”. And those looking for speedruns would be sure to get people also looking for speedruns (no guarantee that these people would be any good, of course, but that’s the risk we’re all taking when pugging dungeons).
I’m not sure how difficult it would be to implement this and probably the end might not justify the resources, but I thought I’d pitch this ideea anyway.
Thoughts?
So there are invincible guardians and engiees who heal for more than you can deal with 2 people next to you and many other cheap builds you can use. But so far the most frustrating one I’ve seen, is this cheap Stun-Warrior. I’m not even joking when I say I don’t get to click a single skill on my ranger, and that’s wit having some decent HP(carrion gear) and defensive traits(pet takes some conditions and knockbacks etc.). Today my entire team has been brutally murdered over and over again by this cheap warrior using hammer. I’m not sure what to do, if even with my defensive things, tons of dodges, fears and pushbacks, this warrior still can just jump on me and kill me in seconds, shouldn’t it be nerfed? What’s with the cooldown of this thing? I get stunned and knockbacked over and over again. Nerf it, please…a lot. That’s coming from a guy who’s favourite class is warrior.
Dear ANet,
I am incompetent at playing my class and I constantly lose in PvP, mostly because I don’t want to adapt. Please nerf the other classes so that I can beat them. I am entitled to play the way I want and nobody can force me to do otherwise.
Ty.
(kitten icy runestones asked me to confirm after every… single… one…).
Hey, that’s how you know your legendary weapon is truly legendary!
Never. Throw. Anything.
This philosophy brought me a ton of cash when Silk price went up with Ascended Crafting and my bank guild was full of Silk stacks I got from playing.
The general consensus that I witnessed around players from EotM (players that actually play there a lot, not self-righteous forum warrios) was that the train should be kept going and to leave the other colours alone if they leave you alone. Sure, there are always a few who want to fight the other colours but always a few. People want to ktrain and ANet has delivered a place where this can be done without any major harm to the other areas where they previously did this. There is a reason EotM guilds have sprung up to make the farm better.
Reward from loot bags is junk and you guys (should) know it. It is not worth it. There is a reason WvW-only players are never wealthy and this is a part of it.
People go to EotM for karma, WXP and mats and, as such, they usually bring low level chars to get mid-tier drops (to salvage into mid-tier mats, where the cash is).
Players who make a point in farming these low level chars are not only lame for disregarding a player consensus which benefits all sides, but downright malicious. You like roaming, fighting and defending objectives? Go to the BL or EB. Not only are the fights there much, much more interesting, but you will be actually helping your server and working together with your fellow servermates towards your server’s victory. What is there to gain from beating up people who have no chance against you for junk loot AND no advantage to your server? What possible satisfaction can a normal human being find in such a thing?! You do it simply because you can? I find such players worthy of only contempt.
It’s funny how PvP players want PvE exclusive rewards because something was taken out of PvP. Dear neighbour, my goat has died, therefore yours must die as well. Excellent logic.
How about you guys ask for what is right and proper, meaning PvP exclusive rewards? Stuff you can only get in PvP?
Pugs kills are harder to come by but higher-tier servers get them done on a daily basis; I know at least that JQ does on NA, and I am sure other servers do it as well (TC, BG, SoR etc.). What you need is leadership and proper organization.
But your best bet is to join one of the guilds/communities that specialise in this. TTS/Att if NA, TxS if EU.
Is siege bunker that useless?
Remember to always place your trust in the Holy Trinity of DPS.
- May Power, the Father grant you His Might to rain death in the form of large numbers on top of your enemies.
- May Precision, the Son, with His Fury guide your blades into the flimsiest of their armor.
- Though fallen, may Ferocity, the Holy Spirit, imbue you and magnify the virtues of both, the Father and the Son, so that your blows may fall heavy on your foes taking on the shape of more hard-hitting crits.
Spared and blessed be the followers of the Assassin that, though slightly bent on their ways, share our vision of smooth and efficient speedruns.
May you never degenerate and fall and be led astray to the misguided ways of the Rampager, or the nefarious path of the Soldier, or the wretched lanes of the Rabid.
May your faith in the Berserker never falter, your Fury never quenched, and your Might always stacked to 25.
For Great Justice!
Amen.
Amen.
Of course they are coming, and soon! What do you think, the leaderboards were just a decoy to hide the ugliness of the Fractured update and removing player progression?!
Never forget.
More people need to do that. I would gladly join any group that has plans to pummel any and all ktrains
Why?
Just because you’re playing the game wrong, it doesn’t mean we all should.
Just because you’re playing the game wrong, it doesn’t mean we all should.
I’ll laugh so much when Anet decide to do something about EOTM Ktrains. In the meantime my guild leader says he’s going to start messing with the Ktrain on a daily basis and record it for our amusement… should be fun!
Well, if that’s the case, kudos to you and your GL. It says a lot about you that you derive your entertainment from kittening off other people. Much GG. You guys should remake your guild into something like Sanctimonious Are [Us]. That way you can do defense events in EotM and we would know who we are dealing with, so we can reroll to main chars and roflstomp you.
Also… you’re new, don’t even have a level 80 yet, decided that you don’t want to PvE because you don’t like it without trying it properly, and now you have opinions about EotM karma trains? I tip my hat to you, Sir/Madam!
I never understood this attitude of getting joy out of ruining other peoples’ plan with no gain to you.
EotM is not WvW proper. Why is it on the WvW tab? Because it’s related to it more than to PvP or PvE. Just like Obsidian Sanctum is, and that is not WvW proper, either. Think a bit before posting, will you?
People karma train in EotM because it is rewarding and anything else is pointless. This was intended as such because it removes players from other, more important, areas where they were damaging the game (Queensdale champ trains being bad for new players and WvW farmers and uplevels being extremly bad for WvW).
If you and your guild participate/lead defense activities in EotM, then I am sorry, but everyone who is whispering you telling you all sorts of nasty stuff is right. Not to mention that beating up cripples (aka uplevels, like most ktrainers are) is not only not worth bragging about, but quite shameful. It also teaches you nothing. You think it will be the same when doing WvW proper against serious opponents? Man, I would want to see the look on your face when you and your heroic guild go there with this attitude.
)
On a side note, if you do not care for PvE and want to level faster, either do PvP for some loot and the Tomes of Knowledge (one level each) from the tracks, or (oh, the irony!) do EotM karmatrain for quick levels and WXP. But could you do the latter? I mean, doesn’t it fall short of your “code”?…
Thief with max range, max cooldown-reduced Steal used on random white mobs in the area, Shadowstep and Shortbow 5- skillspam. Initially the thief will burst off much faster, then the warrior will catch up a bit because of the thief’s lack of swiftness, then the thief will burst off again.
It’s not ‘recommended’ since this leaves you with little stealth, but it’s faster for sure.
Also, if trying to be fast in a GSWarrior, turn Autotargeting OFF or skill 5 will ram you into random yellow mobs for no reason at all.
Thief needs random targets, warrior needs nothing.
Dawn (or Khrysaor, same skin but cheaper)
Ebon Vanguard Greatsword
Cobalt/Ebonblade
Kymswarden
Aureate Greatsword
Krytan Greatsword
I would like to see ANY (other) class try to outrace in open field a warrior with GS/Sword+Warhorn, Signet of Rage and Bull’s Charge…
I’m curious, because I only played GW1 for 2 weeks and I found a lot of the chat there (in the “lobby”) no different than WoW and WoW clone games (e.g. did not find it a particularly good experience.)
Wasn’t GW1 a “CMO” as opposed to an MMO? I’m just curious about the number of guilds that played together, and how many players came together to do large encounters in the normal way of an MMO. (Assumptions intended.)
GW1 is not like that. There is no teq/shat/claw w/e boss there where people can meet in large numbers to take down. Everything is instanced, so once you enter an area for a mission/quest/vanquish w/e, it’s only you and your party and nobody else. You get your own copy of the map with everything in it. Once in, nobody can join you. Maximum party size is 8 and there are only 2 elite missions where the size is increased to 12. So a guild could not get more than 8 members in.
Guilds were limited to 100 players (dunno if it’s still the case though) and 10 guilds could join together in an alliance for a larger community. The only place where all members of the guilds and alliance could meet was in towns/outposts or in one guild’s guild hall, and that was only for social activities since no fighting was possible in these areas.
I should image a mystic forge sollution for this. Gift of battle+original piece+vision chrystal+ xy ecto = original piece in ascended version.
This seems like a good solution to me, although the ascended version would have to keep the rune! The addition of a higher WvW rank needed for this (1-200?) might also help keeping non-WvW players from exploiting this. Although, with EotM being as it is, it’s pretty easy to farm WvW rank…
Precursor and shards – the two biggies.
Everything else you can get relatively easily with laurels/cash/tp but you need a massive amount of karma and either insane luck or a chunk of gold for the precursor.
Start work on the gifts and accumulate as much wealth as possible in the event you have to outright buy a precursor.
Karma is a non-issue with Edge of the Mists as it is now, therefore shards are very easy to come by. And if you do it on a new char up until level 40-50, all your mats will be low-mid tier, where the real cash is for all 3 types of armor. Make a guardian, get a lootstick, farm until level 50, delete and repeat. WXP goes to account pool. Proffit.
No, I just want variety so everyone can play how they want, without feeling pressured into one play style. That’s all.
Everyone can play how they want. Just party with people who want to play like you and you’ll have no problem. And if you just can’t find people who want to play like you, then maybe the problem is not with the game but with you?
Run dungeons every day, buy dungeon armor with tokens and salvage for ectos and insignias.
Be sure to run CoE all paths for the charged cores/lodestones.
Run Edge of the Mists for karma, loot and WvW rank.
Whenever you get 10 Mystic Coins, toss them in the Mystic Forge with 10 ectos, 10 obby shards and 10 crystals from Myiani for clovers; most times you will get t6 mats, but these are welcome since you need quite a lot of them.
Save up laurels to buy t6 mats (1 laurel = 1 heavy crafting bag = 3 random t6 mats).
Always check if the exotics you get have an expensive rune/sigil; if the price you get for rune/sigil is the same, higher or slightly lower than the price of the weapon/armor, salvage it with a Black Lion kit for ectos and guaranteed rune/sigil, then sell it.
Run world bosses for rares.
Never sell something on TP for the buy offers; make a sell offer of 1c less than the current one and leave it there.
Buy the precursor with cash you farm rather than throwing rares/exotics in the Mystic Forge. You could get lucky, but it’s highly unlikely.
This would be very awesome indeed!
No. No matter how much I want the fractal sword and the stupid RNG won’t give it to me and insists on shields and harpoons, NO.
If you want fractal weapons, go do fractals. Same as with PvP finishers – if you want shiny non-gemstore ones, go do PvP. A lot.
But, to be fair, PvP should have its own rare and prestigious weapons/armor skins, stuff that is available ONLY through PvP. That lame backpiece is a start, but it’s too little, too ugly and waaaay too easy to acquire. Not to mention it wasn’t bound so people could buy it on the TP; fortunately, they fixed that, but some damage is done. And, again, it’s way too little.
Gear and traits don’t mean much until you hit lvl 80 and then have access to top gear and all traits. So get your warrior to 80 first.
Best advice is to see Warrior forum, but first let me just say this: Greatsword/Axe+Mace are your best friends for PvE, especially with the trait Fast Hands (you need to invest 3 in Discipline for this). Swap Mace for Sword for bosses since they have Defiance.
Mace+Shield looks cool as hell, but useless in PvE (and there are so few decent-looking maces around…). Only works in PvP decently well. Maybe WvW, but using shield here means you are roaming and hunting prey and for that you want Axe in your mainhand due to the awesomeness that is Eviscerate.
Unfortunately, yes. But this downside (and it is a rather large one) is nothing compared to the advangates of the wardrobe, so overall we are on the plus here imo. But it is a shame that ANet has to give us a delicious cake but still slap us on the face…
If you are on NA, Jade Quarry does Teq daily at least once at 7PM server time and there is a guild sponsoring it right at reset on week-ends.
Chaos Axe as a new legendary – now that is something I would definitely love!
And +1 on the GW1 armor skins, we need more of these!
Join TxS. Proffit.
I still have no idea why they made karma and wvw items non-salvageable. 42,000 karma to get 1 ecto = 120k karma/gold. orrian boxes give 1g per 30k karma. some of the runes and sigils are hard to get, but they wouldn’t be if karma items were salvageable.
dungeon items are salvageable. give me one reason that you can get soldier’s inscription from dungeon weapons but can’t even salvage invader’s weapons.how does 42k karma for a rune of melandru sound?
So ~4g for a Rune of Melandru. Sounds decent to me.
It appears that the monthly achievements have reset for some players, but not all. Mine have not reset, the 2 categories just merged, but they did reset for some guildies.
What was the intention: to reset all or to not reset any? Which side is bugged and when will this be addressed? I wouldn’t mind doing mine again and getting the rewards…
This needs to be addressed, we need a way to salvage the runes out of Karma or BoH gear. If being able to salvage it has a bad influence on the economy, give us an option to destroy it and save the rune, it would be perfect!
In theory, same-guild members will be grouped together in a copy of the area rather than with other players, so this should not be a problem.
Important part: in theory.
It’s hillarious how people think that zerker will stop being the meta. Zerker is still best for PvE speedclears, it’s just that now there is no more margin for error so no non-zerkers will be allowed in groups. People who think otherwise have never run dungeon chain speedclear groups.
Brace yourselves: gear ping requests are coming!
Today I decided to make Zojja’s Reaver. Ok, fast forward 15 minutes I already have it. Next thing was to reskin it into Beacon of Light.
Here is the problem.
Before the patch, weapons name was also changed. Now it’s not. This is silly.
I wanted to reskin Zojja’s Blade with my Firebringer but for what? To have my epic burning sword called Zojja’s something?
I’m confused and shocked how stupid this pacth feature is.
This!!
Please change this silly feature so that the name of the item matches the skin and not the stats!
what? Precursors always have another exotic that looks identical. Unlocking the skin means nothing.
This.
Soulbinding a precursor would have a point if you could keep the name when you apply the skin onto another weapon.
For example, you want to be a kitten Sword of the Morning, so you take the Dawn skin (from the actual precursor that you soulbound, not Khrysaor) and slap it onto a Zojja’s Claymore. Will it be called Dawn or just Zojja’s Claymore? IMO it should be called Dawn because the name should come with the skin. However, it seems to be the other way around atm – I noticed yesterday that my Tormented Axe is now a Zojja’s Reaver and the Sovereign Arquebus is Zojja’s Musket (this is very lame and I would really love for ANet to fix this, btw).
This is a very serious issue and not only for karma gear, but for Badges of Honor gear as well. Those runes are locked in forever now since the extractor is waaaay too overpriced to be worth it.
Please fix this.
Removing the 8v8 was a bad ideea and I can’t see how it was necessary since nobody was forced into it. Please bring it back.
Translation: I don’t like something so take it away from other people.
Alternative Translation: I know what’s best for other people.
This.
8v8 didn’t hurt anyone(!), nobody was forced to go there and there were plenty of 5v5 to join. Removing it seems pointless. Hooray for less options.
I can’t for the life of me understand why people hated the 8v8. Nobody was forcing you into them and there were plenty of 5v5 hotjoins around. So why the hate? It was a good place for more PvE-oriented people to get a small taste of PvP and do their dailies/AP farm, and the matches ended faster.
Answer yourself one question – are you really going to be transferring them (which includes a visit to the bank) everytime you switch characters?
Of course. 4 full sets, if bought in the smartest way possible, would still cost ~300g+.
I don’t know if removing the name of the skin from a transmuted item was in the plan, BUT IT kittenES ME OFF IMMENSELY! Now my Sovereign Arquebus is just a Zojja’s Musket, the Tormented Axe is just Zojja’s Reaver and the Bow of the Whtie Hart (which I only chose for its name, mind you) is a silly AC dungeon longbow. They kept the skins, but I want the name, too! They never said they would remove the frikkin names!
Please fix this!
Reducing the number of options for daily is a bad ideea. And for the PvP players, how is it fair to only have 2 PvP daily achievements!? Is attaining daily reward still possible for the PvP-only player?
The number of options should have at least stayed the same, if not been increased. If ANet wants people to start playing other game modes, this is not the way, it will only make people kittened. What would have been a better solution was to give more rewards to someone who completes his daily by doing achievements from 2 categories, and even more for someone who completes achievements from all 3 categories. This way, the people only interested in one aspect of the game would still get the basic reward, but they would be enticed (not forced) to do a bit more for the extra reward.
1. Learn to dodge.
2. Join a guild.
Hotjoin is not sPvP proper, it’s sort of an introduction to the maps and PvP fights. If you want to sPvP properly, queue up for solo or team arena.
Since WXP rank is going to be account wide, will I be able to obtain the mini boosters on characters that would have been under rank 5 before the update or should I try and acquire as many as I can before tomorrow?
I think they won’t drop anymore since all your new chars will automatically be of the same rank as the old ones and the logic behind these mini boosters was to get you to play wvw on as many chars as possible by giving you a slight push at the start to get some points into masteries. Now this issue dissapears since all your chars will be of the same high rank and will have all points to distribute.
Just play on the char they are soulbound to and do Edge. Tons of WXP and it will all go to the account pool in a few days, so it’s the same thing as using the boosters on your main.
When will the Blade Shard merchant appear?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

He/she/it will probably come along with the precursor scavenger hunt.
You can also buy Kymswarden from the TP and it’s very cheap: http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/27325
Also, if you are looking for a smaller, thinner GS, try the Ebon Vanguard GS which you can get for a mere 10k karma: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ebon_Vanguard_Greatsword
I personally love this skin and will use it again as soon as I tire of my Sunrise. All hail the wardrobe!

EotM karma train, gain levels and champ loot at the same time and get tons of WXP, karma and badges in the process, too.
