You’re right, I didn’t read the OP properly and thought you meant one-time per account.

Still, the fact that we have lvl 2-20 scrolls and then Tomes of Knowledge makes this kinda useless.

If you want to level up fast and don’t have scroll/tomes, just pop a XP booster and join the Edge karma train for quick levels, plenty loots and soon-to-be account bound WXP. It’s a win all around.

I kinda like Firebringer, too. Or Honor of Humanity, if you’re not a fan of the flaming swords. But Infinite Light wins the spotlight 11 cases out of 10.

But to have a sword that can be both one-handed and 2-handed and you are able to switch… I don’t think that would be possible in this game.

I like flame or thurder effect, but Firebringer sword is too short for my taste. For a classic sword type design in 1h sword category, only infinite light, AC sword, Aureate Rinblade, Etched Einhander can be classify as long sword, and only infinite light looks good and the price… forget it again.

I want katana style too, too bad it is only in GW so far.

Rinblade is nice and it has a cool oldschool air about it for those who know what it used to be.

I am using Rinblade skin for my 1h sword, but i don’t know what it used to be really, can you enlighten me a bit, dude?

In GW Prophecies, in pre-Searing Ascalon, the Rinblade was an awesome sword you could only obtain from a NPC, was not available as loot and had a bonus to armor vs. Charr. It was one of the best weapons you could get while in pre-Searing. Ah, the days of old… I think I still have mine somewhere.

So this is basically a tool used to level up slightly another character. One-time only per account. Useless, we already have scrolls that get your char straight to level 20 and then Tomes of Knowledge to get additional levels.

Ah, the Capacitors. I don’t like them that much, specially given the amount of relics necessary. I would rather spend Karma for a exotic backpiece at Orr (i believe they sell them there).

Exotic < Ascended, and in Orr you can’t find many stat combos (I think only 1 or 2, actually). Fractal Capacitor is the cheapest BiS backpiece available.

They toned the achievements down because season 1 felt too much of a grind according to some people.

Personally I feel that the achievements in season 2 are fine to give PvE players a dip into WvW without overwhelming them with a massive grind. They listened to season 1 feedback about not having repairs, not having multiple JPs and not having merc camps in the list and that’s arleady a big plus for me.

Also not having destroy gates/walls achievement, big plus on that.

I’d rather see they have no achievements, except maybe one achievement that counts how many WXP ranks you earn during the season, without awarding AP’s.

That way you can determine at the end of the season who participated (end-of-season reward is awarded to everyone who gained a certain number of WXP ranks during the season), without luring (or “forcing” as some people call it) PvE players into WvW.

This would be a terrible system. Why? EotM says hi. You get 2-3 ranks per hour there just by mindlessly karma training. You call that WvW skill?

I find Edge of the Mists to be excellent for levelling. You get levels pretty fast in the karma train and you get champ bags and WXP at the same time. It is especially awesome while levelling since you will get champ loot appropriate to your level and can salvage the gear from it for much-coveted low-middle tier crafting mats. And the WXP will go to the common pool come 15th, so it’s win all around!

If that’s the way you are going about getting your legendary, you are trolling yourself. You can get ~15g daily just by running some dungeons (AC1&3, SE1&3, HotW1, CoF1, CoE all, TA up&fw), and this is only the solid cash you get from there. Now add the tokens and drops and your daily income can spike a lot higher…

Farming speciffic mats is silly in this game – farm gold and buy the mats. And use laurels for mats, too – you get 3 mats per laurel…

I doubt the megaserver will impact negatively on these raids: don’t forget that they are adding a fixed official spawn schedule AND the ability of guilds to start the events at any time. So TTS/TxS/any other guild can wait for the scheduled spawn to pop and finish, then pop their own event after everyone has left the map, or simply move all their people into another instance of the same map and pop the event there. And, IIRC, the number of people that can be in the same instance of a map will be increased with this update, making things easier.

Imo it’s pretty logic,

char1 has 100 ranks and char2 has 0 ranks, they will both have 100 rank points to spend.

Why would anet make a wxp pool and then not let you use every wxp point on every char ? only for the title ? it doesn’t make sense

Also, if you have, say, 2 chars and 37 points, you can’t exactly split that in two so their announcement that “all characters have the same amount of points” would be false. And what happens when you make a 3rd char after the update?

There is only one logical conclusion: all chars will get the same number of points, which is the max number of points on your account after adding all the WXP from all your characters.

But we’ll skip the noose. For now.

So you will have 146 ability points on each character; the way you spend them is unique to each character so you can put 146 points on one char and 146 points on another char just the way you want it.

The uproar that such a thing would cause from players who leveled craftings to 500 would be immense if suddenly ascended gear were tradeable. With Armorsmith, Weaponsmith and Huntsman at 500, I know I would be kittened.

However, players should be able to trade in to certain merchants their unwanted ascended gear (and maybe materials?) in exchange for other ascended gear which they do want, at a ratio of 2:1 or 3:1 or something like that. Or at least to be able to salvage their ascended gear into something useful (no, not dust/fragments/dragonite!) or turn it in for other shiny rewards (Obby Shards etc.).

SkyFallsInThunder.8257

its not really love or hate for them, Its just the amount of time and effort require to do them, I could go to 2 maybe 3 other World Bosses and get the same reward. If the reward match the difficulty, then I wouldn’t mind tackling these guys. Cant speak for the Worm since I haven’t tried him yet, but for Teq. after getting the complete Meta done, not to eager to go back.

The setup is indeed long and somewhat boring, but you hardly notice the time pass when on TS with the TTS gang. And the feeling you get, especially at the Wurm event, of taking part in a grand undertaking of 100+ well-organized players, that in itself is pretty kitten awesome. At least for me, anyhow. And while the setup for Wurm kinda asks for you to be there, the setup for Teq is lighter and you can roam Sparkfly and gather platinum and wood while waiting, and there is also a crafting station there.

The rewards are not that great – Teq gets you 4+ rares, 2g solid cash and ~12k karma, but I think it’s worth it. There is also the chance for ascended and Sunless drops, of course, and the mini Teq.

why do we even have walls and gates?

in WvW

Posted by: SkyFallsInThunder.8257

SkyFallsInThunder.8257

And even if you build solid counter-siege all across the wall, the enemy builds a Treb. And then you pretty much need a bigger zerg to attack their zerg and take out their Treb.

Or you could countertreb, maybe? Besides, the larger investment of resources from defenders as opposed to attackers is balanced by the time you have to set it up: you’re not on the clock, building while watching your back for enemies: you’re safe behind your walls and more often than not have ready supply a few feet away, while the attacking zerg needs to bring its own, limited supply. Furthermore, the siege you put up to defend a tower stays there (unless, of course, the tower is taken/siege destroyed/siege expires due to noobiness) for future battles; the attackers’ siege is one-time use in 99.99% of the cases.

Gift of Battle change

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SkyFallsInThunder.8257

SkyFallsInThunder.8257

It should have required some WvW to begin with in my opinion. That said, why 14? It seems like a pretty random number to go with.

Legendaries always had a WvW component, you needed and still need 500 Badges of Honor for the Gift of Battle. However, this is quite trivial now since you get them by the thousands from the AP reward chests. The rank requirement is good and should have been higher IMO.

A good addition to legendary weapons would have been to obtain Dungeon Master and/or a number of tokens from each dungeon, not just one.

Legendaries will never be truly legendary as long as you can just buy them with your credit card from the TP. They need more components in them that must be earned by in-game action, rather than in-game/RL cash.

in Players Helping Players

SkyFallsInThunder.8257

As for the downed players teleporting, it’s only mesmers and thieves that can do that, sort of. Race is not relevant, all races have the same downed skills for each profession.

What happens is this: downed mesmers have a skill that teleports them slightly away from their original position and creates a clone of themselves which is also downed; downed thieves have 2 skills, one that stealths them for a short while and one that allows them to teleport to a chosen location which is very close to original one (600 range). It’s just a nuissance and, unless there are other enemies pestering you, you can finish them off despite their trickery.

While fighting mesmers and thieves as a warrior, remember that stuns are your best friend.

Also, “midget race” – so much win for this. =))

It would be terrible to make a starter area world boss like the new Teq, but especially so with SB.

Firstly, starter areas are full of starting people who are learning how to handle the ropes of the game. Facing them with advanced content and highly coordinated boss fights right out of kindergarten is not a good ideea.

Secondly, the problem lies not with SB, but with the area it’s in. Queensdale is Champtrainville and there will always be slots taken by players running it, making less room for people who want to do the challenging meta. Overflow much?

Thirdly, if they do want more challenging world bosses, they should add new ones in areas not very populated and that don’t already contain a world boss. Fields of Ruin comes to mind – for example, I would love a huge siege of Ebonhawke by [insert whatever enemies here, probably separatists or ogres or branded], where you need 100+ people to defend.

Gift of Battle change

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SkyFallsInThunder.8257

At first you could buy the Gift of Battle with no rank requirement. Then they figured out they trivialized the WvW requirement for the legendary since 500 Badges of Honor were very easily obtained from AP reward chests. So they ninja-ed a requirement of WvW rank 30 without any prior notice and there was massive uproar. They subsequently removed the rank requirement TEMPORARILY, which they announced. And now they’ve put it back in and at a lower level.

Rank 14 is very easy to get, you can do it in 1-2 days if you focus on it. Let’s not have another QQ thread about this non-issue.

buying armor vs crafting at level 80?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: SkyFallsInThunder.8257

SkyFallsInThunder.8257

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_armor – That’s the stuff you craft at level 500.

Even after you’ve reached 500 crafting it takes a lot of time, and money, to make so it’s probably a good idea to get an exotic set first, especially since the difference in stats is quite small so you don’t need ascended unless you’re planning to do high level Fractals.

There are a few different ways to get exotic armor:

  • Craft it (at level 400)
  • Buy it with gold from the Trading Post
  • Buy it with karma from the Temples in Orr
  • Buy it with badges of honor in WvW
  • Buy it with dungeon tokens from the vendors in LA
  • Find it as drops (quite rare, especially unlikely to be the stats you want)

Or any combination of the above. For example my armor is from dungeons and the Temples in Orr, I got one weapon as a drop and bought others with badges of honour or from the TP. I did it that way mainly to mix and match skins, but it also makes it easier if you don’t have enough of 1 currency for a full set.

This.

One mention though: be careful if you buy armor with karma or badges of honor, as you cannot salvage it afterwards for either runes or materials. So once you put a rune in it, it’s there to stay and you can’t remove it unless you put another on top of it (the upgrade extractor thingie from the gem store might work, but I never tried it). On the other hand, temple karma armor is pretty nice since that is the cheapest way to gain access to the coveted armor with Melandru runes, which is awesome in WvW.
