Disconnecting during story mission

I guess nobody cares anymore…
YES, IT IS FRUSTRATING TO DO EVERYTHING AT LEAST TWICE!!
And the disconnect happens only at the end of a LONG story.

wow.. i even payed for living season 2 to experience this .

Can we please have an official reply?

You absolutely can, and it is very simple to obtain: file a support ticket via the “Submit a Ticket” link at https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us

You will receive an immediate automated confirmation that your issue has been seen by the system, and then a direct, personal response from anet support within 72 hours.

The forums are mostly for player to player support, where we might be able to help you out faster because we know some of the common causes.

PS: the reason I recommend https://www.pingplotter.com/fix-your-network to people here is because that is basically a longer, friendlier version of the first debugging step the support team will ask you for in that ticket, so it saves time to start there, but … if you want anet to tell you that, rather than another player, just file the ticket.

Those builds are intended to be optimized to the absolute maximum in every way, for the quantify players who use them, in order to support things like their low-player and world record setting kill times in raids.

Unless you are a member of their group (or competing directly for the same records), or pushing for rank one in pvp, or working on being the preeminent something in WvW, then there are two very useful things to know:

The first is that up until you are at that very pinnacle of performance, on a profession and build you know to perfection, you almost certainly see more DPS variation from personal skill than you do from mechanical differences between the “meta” build and the next dozen builds that are almost-but-not-exactly meta.

The second is that mechanical differences at that fine degree are likely completely irrelevant to you, as they only matter when you literally care about shaving a second or two off a five minute fight. They are not necessary, or even close to it, to successfully complete content.

The lack of Hype isnt helping GW2

Again, remember our experiences with earlier MMO expansions. And I’ll say it . . . a lot of our new players are first-timers from World of Warcraft. Now compare the content released from those expansions to Heart of Thorns.

For me the argument would be that the price of a WoW expansion only allows you to play it for a month. In order to play that expansion for a year you would pay the $60 or so plus an additional $165 for a total of $225.

WoW expansion cost = $225.
GW2 expansion cost = $60.

I do not care for HoT, but the price seems pretty reasonable to me.

A pretty unfair comparison considering I see people all the time spend the equivalent of a subscription in GW2, thus the cost being the same. Yes it’s not “required” to buy things on the gem store, but I see so many people do it and then turn around and boast that this game isn’t subscription based, but by buying things like that on a routine basis as they do, that is equivalent in cost to a subscription.

Can you play WoW, other than its trial option, without paying the subscription?

ehhh you pay a sub then you can try farm the gold to buy a token which gives you a month worth of play time or balance for their other games such as ow hearthstone etc . But yes, you can play for free so long as you farm the needed gold each month which iirc is alot.

Interesting addition to their business model. I do wonder if the amount of gold needed for the token you mention is reliably within reach for many farmers? How much time need be spent farming to reach that amount? Is it a practical alternative to paying the sub fee or an illusion of a F2P option?

if you knownreliable fsrming spots yes but again, if its your first main them you will need some time to atleast do the lvl some content to get to zones with better gathering etc that couldeat up some time of the 2 months you have.

cough using gold to purchase time is viable only if your possible “real world money per hour” rate is way, way below minimum wage in the US, let alone in a sane country. So … not really viable except for people who are extremely time-rich and money-poor.

Mounts [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SlippyCheeze.5483

SlippyCheeze.5483

As I have said many times before, I am okay with mounts as long as they serve a purpose and make sense in their implementation.
Adding mounts to the current world would serve NO purpose and makes little to zero sense
Some examples where they might be good would be the wurms of the Desolation, or maybe a local mount in a dragon-minion infested zone where we couldn’t find stable footing to place waypoints. (e.g. the second part of the Rings of Fire, the Far Shiverpeaks, The Brand, etc)

Doing this inevitably leads to mounts everywhere; flying in some places leads to flying everywhere. See also every other MMO that made the change, and also gliding in central tyria.

Regardless of opinions on the value of mounts, fact is, “only in limited places” isn’t going to stick, so it’s either everywhere, or nowhere.

But who owns the VPN? And why would it work over the path that regular traffic wouldn’t work with?

A VPN is a “virtual private network”, and it works by throwing the normal traffic into an encrypted wrapper, sending it to a VPN server, which then pulls that traffic out of the encrypted wrapper and sends it off to the normal destination. (…and does the same in reverse to get responses back to you.)

So, “who owns the VPN” is “whoever runs the server”, which can be any number of people. Like, buy the VPN service from a company, and it’s run by them. Run your own on a server you rent in the “cloud” and you (plus the cloud provider) “own” it.

Why would it work over a path that normal traffic doesn’t? Because once you get outside your ISP network, there are a lot of different paths to different places. The VPN might take the same path as normal traffic to ANet, or it might turn off somewhere else, right?

Basically, when it works you can imagine there is a triangle formed between your computer and anet, your computer and the vpn server, and the vpn server and anet.

Only the direct path from your computer to anet hits the trouble spot — the route between the VPN server and anet is different, and avoids the issue. So does the route from your computer to the VPN server.

Obviously, this only works if the problem is not in the anet network, because if it was there, both the VPN server and your direct path are gonna hit that same trouble, right?

Thing is, for many people the issue is outside the anet network.

Visible health bars pose a risk?

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: SlippyCheeze.5483

SlippyCheeze.5483

I have come across a 3rd party program that allows visible health bars near players (instead of the upper left hand corner)

I have been dying for something like this and neeeed it. Any information I found never outright says its right or wrong.

The ToS helpfully tell us that all third party modifications are forbidden, unless they are explicitly permitted. We also have, thanks to the recent AMA and other reddit discussion, an acknowledgement that it is OK to show combat data (eg: damage done, taken, healing done, taken), but that it is absolutely NOT OK to go beyond that right now.

That means that this is not acceptable. It’s not in the scope of “display current or historical ‘combat information’ available to the client”, in the sense that the health of other players (or NPCs) is not part of your damage done or taken.

See also arcdps pulling target health numbers from the meter to comply with these rules.

If I use this and become “tagged” what is the chance I could get a successful appeal?
Anyone using this have anyhting pop up yet?

I know the whole “just don’t use it”, but I would like to know that if its something wrong that wasn’t 100% clear in TOS I deserve to at least state my case and vow to never use it again.

It is one hundred percent clear that this is a violation of the terms of service for GW2.

It’s just there is no way for them to tell what this 3rd party program is doing?

Yes, there is absolutely no (reasonable) way for anet to see what a third party tool is doing with the data it reads from memory. They can see some things, such as what requests the tool makes via the network, etc, but they can’t see what is done with “passively” received data.

So telling the truth is pretty much wasted time?

Telling the truth is not a waste of time. On the other hand, telling the truth will not save you in a situation where there is a clear and unambiguous answer to the question “can I be banned for using this third party software”.

(…and that is doubly true when you demonstrate that you asked and got told that.)

PS: when I say there is no reasonable way, what I mean is that it is not technically impossible for anet to determine what the code is doing by, eg, reverse engineering it, or capturing video of your screen, or whatever.

It’s just a degree of time, effort, and other investment that they are absolutely not going to make, even if it “could” be done, because it is not practical … not to mention the risks associated with, oh, “yeah, we capture full screen video of everything displayed on your computer”, or whatever.

PPS: I’m not expressing my personal opinion about the question of should this be permitted here, just about is this permitted. Don’t conflate the two.

I would really prefer they solve these basic bunch of bugs and QOL gaps before they even announce the next Expac.
IMO Keyring and more intelligent Wallet are bigger priorities than Build Saving. And I’m assuming the second Expac WILL have the option to save Builds…

I honestly see no reason to expect that. It’s something people ask for, but it’s not like they have not asked for it for literal years, and it’s absolutely not a selling point for a game. I hundred percent promise you that anyone who says “can save builds” would bring them back is … fibbing, even if it’s unintentionally.

They would have to ADD things to the chests and then retroactively reward those who have already reached those achievements. Otherwise, if they removed/swapped items, they would have to, what, ask players to give back the rewards they already received?

I don’t see either happening, but would be pleasantly surprised if there was a change. But personally, I’m okay with the current rewards.

Eh, this stuff is normally just “from now on”, in the same way that things you earned in the past and turned into gold don’t get retroactively fixed or whatevs…

I’d like to see a daily meta event, similar to the Zaishen missions from GW1.
It could rotate through every meta event in the game, encouraging people to revisit older content.
I think the reward would have to be better though as it could take much longer to complete than the other dailies. Maybe it could be a new source of Mystic coins…1,2 or 3 depending on the difficulty.

Sounds like the running anomalies to me, which already reward a mystic coin each day?

Smash mace to ground as a necro to make enemys flee in fear with torment aswell

That sounds more like hate for mace than love. That will be a crappy weapon for boss fights and all it does with trash mobs is spread them out making trash clearing slower.

It’s like any knockback: a mixed blessing. Fear, plus fear-as-dot, plus torment so that moving increases damage would be rather nice as a thing you have in the toolkit as a necro. Making fear more accessible would certainly be nice for the fear-as-dot trait.

…but, yeah, I don’t feel like it would be a great focus of the tool.

QoL: auto-accept rewards

SlippyCheeze.5483

If it’s that much of a concern about people not realising they get auto-consumed, just make the option switched off by default. Then people can discover it and enable it for themselves, and should know what to expect.

Seems reasonable, the same as the auto-loot option. I’d like that option, I don’t think that clicking on a bouncy chest to bring up a dialog box that I accept in order to get another, actual chest deposited into my inventory that I then double click to open is all that great a design. Too many clicks to get to the actual loot.

I probably wasn’t clear enough, but … this is pretty much exactly what I had in mind: an option that can be turned on, if someone cares enough to find it and click the box on. By default, behave as it does today.

I mean, I know I’m not always like other people when it comes to how I think of this stuff, but it’s … I just really prefer to deal with my rewards later, and it’s more enjoyable to open a half dozen daily reward chests in one shot, rather than clicky-clicky accept them and then do the opening bit, for me.

I usually let them accumulate in the right bottom, bouncing and all, so I can look at them later, without worrying about getting my inventory full in the middle of a long mission. A “consume all” option in that zone would be great for me.

They actually auto-accept already after four chests build up, as far as I can tell. FWIW, in case you wonder why it’s not quite doing what you would expect.

Not necessarily. That’s why we form teams. Lindsey can hand this over to some other people. She’s done the design work and was about to hand it over when she got distracted onto other work. I guarantee that in a company like ArenaNet that there’s some eager beaver who would be only too happy to take over.

I think you are mistaking what role Lindsey plays here: think of her as the person who ensures that the work of those teams continues forward, on schedule, and makes sure that the problems that crop up along the way get resolved.

It’s not “do a bit of design, toss it over the fence, done”, it’s “work every day to keep the project on track.”

That’s what I really don’t get, why GW1 had 2 more FULL games (Factions and Nightfall) with tons of new maps, contents, armors and weapons but GW2 only get little expansions with so few new stuff compared?!!! (For the same price moreover….)
People want full new games like Elona or Cantha, or even something new but NO NEW EXPANSIONS WITH FEW CONTENTS!

Something to keep in mind is the last expansion for GW1 came out in 2007 nearly a decade ago. People come and go. This isn’t the same Anet from back then. It’s the modern embodiment of Theseus’s Ship.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_Theseus

TL;DR the Anet that made GW1 isn’t the same Anet that made GW2. Half their devs have left the company and been replaced by new people. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. That’s just how the industry works.

Yes, but GW1 Expansions provided actual content, not solely features, features are cool don’t get me wrong, but I have a solid 4 months of play time from HoT at best. With the living world updates only lasting a couple of days to knock out literally everything, how do they expect to release some sustainable content with their current setup? I have no reason to ever go back to Lake Doric? I think instead of releasing new maps each time something comes out, give us a reason to continue to explore the world we are already in.

There are a bunch of production and programming jobs at ANet — if you believe you can do better than the folks already there, apply, get the job, and prove it.

I’m two hundred percent certain that anet would absolutely, positively love to have people do that. (Though it might turn out that healthcare game design is more complicated than anyone could possibly have known, except all the people saying that.)

Network issues are the most common cause, though others report issues, and anet are certainly actively working on the problem. I’d follow the guide at https://www.pingplotter.com/fix-your-network — and make sure you track down to the instance servers — to see if you can isolate where it happens.

If it is showing that the network connection is fine, or that packet loss is in the anet area, a support ticket is the place to go. (If you open one now, they will ask you for the equivalent of that guide in diagnostics as step one, hence my suggesting you start there.)

Any help is appreciated.

It is breaking my immersion and fun.

If all of your drivers are up to date.

If all of your connections are solid to any other website, application or game.

If your ISP isn’t having issues.

It’s not you. It’s not.

Unfortunately, your mental model of how the Internet works isn’t quite accurate, and it’s led you down a perfectly logical path to an incorrect conclusion.

Think of it more like the roads in a city or something: there are lots of paths, some smaller, some larger, and you can get to different destinations without covering the same paths.

So, if your ISP is working fine, ANet servers are working fine, but something on the path between the two happens to be busted up … problems with GW2. If that isn’t on the path to, say, google, or netflix, or some other game, it doesn’t mean the problem doesn’t exist, you just took a different set of roads to a different destination and bypassed the issue.

https://www.pingplotter.com/fix-your-network is a good guide to tracking down where on the path between your computer and anet the issue falls; if it is with the anet servers, then screenshots showing it will be compelling proof in a support ticket that anet need to take action.

Although I do understand this “pathing” , I still had to read it to convince me that a VPN may work.

Thanks, I’ll try that.

VPN’s are so cheap now o_O

Yeah, using a VPN means that your traffic will take a different route — basically, stop one is the VPN data center, and stop two is the ANet servers, instead of going direct. If the problem was only on the direct path, bingo, a VPN removes it.

The other thing a VPN can do to help is bypass “helpful” ISP packet filtering, blocking, or “quality of service” stuff; sometimes they seem to detect GW2 traffic as, like, torrents or something. Because the VPN hides the traffic, and changes the port and packet type, as far as the ISP can see, the problem doesn’t apply.

Which all sucks compared to the problem being fixed, since the VPN will increase latency at least a little bit, but … at least if it works it works, and you can play.

Black Desert and Aion are having the same issue, which is why i’m starting to believe it’s an NCsoft issue.

It could be NCSoft, and that certainly points that way, but it can also be some like a step or two upstream from the NCSoft servers — if their ISP is screwy, it’s gonna hit those games, but not other Internet things.

One of the things the tracert requested above, or the steps in https://www.pingplotter.com/fix-your-network will help isolate is exactly where the issue is — and if it’s someone a little way upstream from NCSoft / ANet servers, help their support team yell at the right people about getting it fixed.

Well, that’s pretty much the trade-off anet want for ranged attacks: that they can be reflected and blocked, in ways that being up close and personal can’t. The idea being that you have to make a smart choice about which of the things you want to give up on in return for the advantages of your weapon.

It’s … definitely a consistent development strategy, and I can see why they would regret the exceptions to it.

(also, it would be justice for the amount WoW stole from GW2)

Waouh! you’re super optimist, saying e-spec are already decided. For HoT even after they announced the x-pac, they weren’t decided for all the e-specs.

…and six months ago, when they confirmed the x-pac was in development and definitely coming, you’d be correct, it wouldn’t yet be totally too late.

We have a pretty solid idea, though, that it’s not just coming, but relatively close, so I think it’s highly likely too late. I could be wrong, though. It’s all speculation.

So… https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Equipment_acquisition_by_stats gives you the guide to how to acquire the wide variety of gear — there are many different ways.

There are two tiers of gear at 80 that matter:

Exotic gear is the basic stuff. That’s going to be more than sufficient to do almost everything in the game — literally the only thing that is mechanically impossible to do with it is higher tier fractals.

Many people start with the “karma” sets purchased from vendors in Orr for karma, but it’s not super-expensive on the trading post either; I usually expect around 10 to 12 gold to get a set if I want to save karma for something else.

The final tier of gear is ascended (and legendary, which is numerically identical to ascended). This is acquired through crafting, and will take some time to obtain. It’s a longer term goal, and absolutely isn’t required for almost anything.

It’s commonly desired, though, for higher end stuff; it’s between a five and ten percent boost over exotic in terms of numbers and all. So, raid groups often ask for it, even though it’s not an absolute requirement.

As noted, fractals are the only place ascended anything is required — and that’s because of the need for agony resistance (see the wiki, again) in the higher tiers. Tier one fractals, though, you don’t need a single piece of ascended.

Finally, the Heart of Maguma and the recent Living Story maps … are much more challenging than the core of the game. It won’t become trivial no matter what gear you have; I’m running around on a (naturally pretty robust) Necro, in full ascended gear, and if I don’t pay attention the enemy there can stomp me into the ground too.

Instead, it’s a matter of learning to play better: what to dodge, how to avoid the attacks, what the weaknesses of the enemies are. In time, it will certainly become easier, and I rarely worry now about things that I used to carefully sneak around because they would always wipe me … simply because I know which strategy to use to take them down, if I have to.

Hi! I’d love to see an option in GW2 to auto-accept loot boxes right into my inventory without interaction added to the game. You know the ones: bopping away in the bottom right, click on them, click accept, and you get something in the inventory as a reward for doing the thing.

Very occasionally they do something more: show the dailies, require you to select a reward from a choice of several, etc. I’m specifically not talking about those ones, just the ones that are “accept this reward” and nothing more.

Early on, they were kind of cool, in the sense that they show things happening, but … I’m over that, I guess? Like, now it’s just a hassle. Most of the time I just try and ignore them, until I run through enough — and that ends up just auto-accepting most of the rewards anyway.

So, yeah, can we have an option to directly drop those into the inventory? That’d be great!

cough or an acknowledgement that automating this wouldn’t be a problems, if a third party happened to do so.

I haven’t changed anything, my connection is solid, like your’s, and my framerate as well as connection to the game is all over the place or can’t login.

I hate to say it, but years of tech support make me aware that fancier systems like these liquid cooled deals, etc, are more prone to unusual problems than the simpler, more boring ones. I’d suggest y’all check that the hardware is doing what it should, cooling as it should, etc.

The other thing is that connectivity is like the roads through your city, not like the highway: there are lots of paths, and a problem on some random road might cause only some services to have problems.

https://www.pingplotter.com/fix-your-network is a good guide to tracking down if there is something on the path between you and anet — or at the anet server end — causing network issues.

It’s possible that the problem is some node that is only used on the way to and from anet, not for most of the other stuff you do on the Internet, just because it happens to be out of the way of most of your stuff.

Airship Pass use = game freeze/comp lock

It’s definitely not impossible, but if the lockup is limited to a single area or action, I’d suspect corrupted data might be the cause of it. (I mean, if that corrupt data causes the entire system to hang, it’s definitely a driver/hardware bug, but one that’s easier to avoid in the future.)

Try the `-repair` option, or deleting gw2.dat, and see if that helps.

Preferable Graphic Settings?

Unfortunately, single core CPU performance is the limiting factor in super-busy areas; the best settings to change to influence that are shadows, and the number of character models shown.

(GW2 uses three cores well, it’s just that if you eliminate every other thing that slows it down, that single thread managing character models is what is the final choke-point.)

At the end of the day, depending on what you mean by “unbearable”, that’s not uncommon.

Well, my connection was stable yesterday, now today it’s back to square one. Now anet is saying there’s package loss on my end. ran winmtr to check, next to no package loss that i could see. Surely it’s something anet did in the patch on the 18th that screwed the servers over, because it’s only gw2 i have the problems on and i’ve seen hundreds of people reporting the same issue ever since then. Meh, might just play something else until it gets fixed.

Earlier, I tested the waters again hoping things would be the same. But no, it was back to the same routine, an abundance of lagging, invisible enemies/NPCs and parts of the map slowly loading in certain areas.

I agree with you, the problems must come from Anet’s end. Ever since the character selection screen (Heart of Thorns version) was replaced during that patch, this game hasn’t been working properly at all. If these issues exist only with Guild Wars 2 and nowhere else, then it couldn’t be on me. And based on what I’ve read from other players, their experiences are similar.

Honestly, I’m considering sitting this game out until these problems are solved.

Well, that means it comes from somewhere between you and the anet servers, or the local software, that is different to the other things you are using as a basis for comparison.

https://www.pingplotter.com/fix-your-network is a good guide to tracking down where, exactly, the problem is occurring — and will show if it is actually the anet servers, or something else. If it is, a support ticket with the proof is the best way to get anet to take action.

It’s highly likely that this would need to be coupled with making it behave as a projectile attack — that is, subject to reflection — at the same time; anet have commented that they regret ranged attacks that are not projectiles, and this is one of the few examples.

It’s not impossible, but it’s too late for the next xpac where the elite specs are already decided. That probably pushes the idea out to xpac 3 if they didn’t already do that.

(also, it would be justice for the amount WoW stole from GW2)

They all have about 2 or 3 really optimal-ish builds for whatever content, and then they all have about 50 subpar but usable builds.

Where, for the most part, “subpar” means “you lose less DPS from the mechanics than the random variation in your damage done due to player skill / mistakes”.

I was just curious with the aggro thing since It was pretty common in the other mmos Ive played. But that explains that, thank you.

Like the lack of the tank-healer-dps “trinity”, GW2 is much more dynamic in a bunch of ways than other MMOs. It’s valuable to question all your assumptions like these, I found when I came from WoW, because many of them don’t hold true.

So… anecdotally, we can say that we are at a draw about who is at fault here.

(If you can’t read between the lines, that’s a suggestion you take the advice from anet seriously here.)

The most common causes for this sort of problem recently have been tied to things that get into the DirectX 9 rendering path, and are incompatible with something like the Windows 10 update.

Common candidates are:

  • memory reading DPS meters
    * RivaStatisticsServer
    * MSI AfterBurner
    * NVIDIA ShadowPlay
    * GPU “monitoring” tools

Check for and eliminate those, or file a ticket with anet support — the forums are mostly player to player support, but the support tickets put you in touch with the support team at anet, and get a personal answer.

Any sale for HoT in the future?

You can likely find a discounted version via the official reseller list — don’t forget to check the online ones — or via Amazon.

Keep in mind that if you buy from a third party, and something goes wrong, you have to deal with the third party about it. (I’d only consider third parties through amazon, or someone on the official physical or digital retailer list. C2D and similar, definitely nope.)

They can also be swapped at a small cost.

AFAIK it’s only the Bloodstone ones that can be statswapped after the initial choice.

Well, that is weirdly inconsistent

That, my friend, is ANet Consistency™

I strongly suspect that the new expansion and future living story episodes will just happen to, no doubt by coincidence, happen to resemble whatever parts of those earlier episodes the current players like the most.

ArenaNet has already confirmed that supply is outpacing demand. The issue is that you don’t want to wait or buy them.

I often read this kind of comments and i completely disagree, if ANet says X, we don’t necessarily have to agree with, that’s what forums and complains are for, in the hope that seeing the displeasure of many, they change their mind!

You can disagree with statements of opinion from ANet, reasonably.

The problem is that you are disagreeing with a statement of fact, since anet are in a position to actually know how many MCs are coming in, and how many are being consumed, and to observe the action on the trading post, etc, for obtaining them.

So, you need to accept that there is more supply than demand on mystic coins as a fact in this discussion.

It’s legitimate for you to say, for example, “despite that, I think prices should be lower, and I believe that more supply would help with that because <reason>.” go right ahead?

The problem with that advice is that more the people that follow it the worse it becomes.

So far, the evidence doesn’t support that. Whenever someone tries to manipulate the market (e.g. by buying up the existing supply at 1-2 g), people with “extra” start selling off some of their supply and the price returns to the existing equilibrium.

It could be a problem in the future; I think we can wait to see if it becomes one rather than borrowing trouble.

That is not following the advice. Trying to manipulate the market is a completely different thing. It would only take around 75 people attempting to make HoT legendaries to buy out the entire current supply on the TP if we assume they all follow the advice and just farm gold then buy the coins.

Note: several attempts were made to manipulate the market, by purchasing everything listed below the 5 gold mark, some months back (during the last big reddit support group for this.)

The market recovered from them within 24 hours. So… if those 75 people did start buying heavily, the price would rise some, more coins would be listed, and the market would carry on.

That’s a healthy market, demonstrated by real world action.

ArenaNet has already confirmed that supply is outpacing demand. The issue is that you don’t want to wait or buy them.

This statement is essentially the same as “there is a lot of money in the economy and the banks are flooded with cash, you just happen to be poor.”

I’m saying that there should be a way to actively farm this material, and thus allowing “hardworking” people to get more of them, instead of freely given to people who may not need them but get them anyway just by logging in, and yet never sells them because the price is expected keep going up.

There IS a method for a “hardworking” person to obtain more mystic coins, and the secret will blow your mind!

It’s this…

<drum roll>

Step one, do any dang thing you want in the game.

Step two, sell the loot you get for gold.

Step three, purchase mystic coins from the trading post for gold.

…and bam, your hard work got turned into more mystic coins! Magic!

The problem with that advice is that more the people that follow it the worse it becomes.

I have to assume that you mean “the more people buying off the trading post, the higher the price will go”, right, because it’s not like “doing stuff” has reduced rewards as people do it.

…and you are correct, that is one possible outcome of the situation. Unfortunately for you, we also had people try and “prove” your theory by spending significant in-game gold to purchase mystic coins up to the five gold mark.

Within 24 hours the price had returned to where it was to begin with. eg: the other possible outcome happened, and we saw that raising the price led to more people making coins available for purchase, leading to a price winding up where the market feels comfortable about it.

So….. yeah. Maybe, eventually, if people stop complaining and start actually buying mystic coins we will find that the price rises. Until that actually happens in the real world, though…

…it looks like the supply exceeds demand, to the point it can comfortably absorb multiple attempts to significantly move the price over a short space of time. That’s a healthy market….

If you need to physically hold the power button and ctrl-alt-del doesn’t work, it’s in the realm of hardware, OS, or driver problems. Make sure your drivers are up to date, your GPU is working correctly, hasn’t come unseated, isn’t overheating, etc.

Yes, I know, for whatever reason you think is entirely valid, “earn gold, buy coins” isn’t what you want to do. Either you want to directly farm them, for no really good reason other than “I prefer that”, or you imagine the farm will be less costly in terms of time than earning enough gold to get what you want.

…and it’s fine to say that, but seriously, don’t predicate your argument on “impossible” when it is absolutely, completely possible.

Still bugged. Cant believe it is a YEAR later and still not fixed….. poor show

Well, you gotta remember this: whatever is wrong, it’s not as simple as “it’s broken all the time for everyone.”

I did completion on those achievements just a month back, and had no trouble. So, clearly there is some difference between what I did and/or my account, and yours, because I absolutely believe you didn’t get credit when you should.

The problem is, I have no idea what the difference is and … sadly, it’s highly likely that the anet team don’t either. Which means they can’t figure out why it’s broken, so they can’t fix it.

Which sucks, no question.
