Before this thread is closed, I would like to add something. In your opening post, you admitted it was your fault for being a completionist. This has nothing to do with Anet. Your concerns, while valid for you, are not shared by the entire community. Please keep in mind that there are all types of players who play this game. No one update will satisfy them all. So if you want to quit because you can’t fill your achievement bar, I’m sorry you feel that way. I will respect your need to do so, but I will also counter your arguments that all content should be made in a way to make you happy.

I think that T5 mats are THE best way to invest. Why? Because you have two different outs that the market provides.

Buy and selling purely T5 mats right now will be profitable. But should someone be impatient, or prices don’t spike as expected, there’s another option: crafting them. There’s huge profits to be made if you take T5s, and turn them into Rare Greatswords. The market is still strong for these, and will be for a while.

Please re-read the title of this thread.

Luck does not equal skill. Skill does not equal luck. This fight requires SKILL. Is it luck that I’m able to dodge the 1-hit AOE that comes crashing down on my head? No. There’s a timer for each and every one. Learn the timing, and roll out of the way.

Also, killing orbs isn’t luck based either. If you’re trying to Range projectile it, you will fail. Run up and melee it with 1 strike. Done.

If you’re not paying attention to your surroundings, you won’t see the orb’s spawn tells. So then, if you leave them along long enough, they pull you. It’s a pretty simple concept.

It’s not luck to kill the orbs, it’s skill.

You’re lucky that you had a nice party. I usually kick pugs if they don’t show up on time for the run.

From my understanding, you can’t used Ranged attacks (bow, pistol, rifle) to kill the orbs.

Recently, I was traveling through Lion’s Arch, and I came across the replaced fountain with the giant Kiel hologram. This is a great insult to Team Gnashblade. It’s like Kiel is mocking us all.

I wish the Gem Store had pitchforks for sale. I’d buy them for this occasion!

I believe that the orbs take at least 3 seconds to form, then another few seconds to activate. That’s usually enough time to get to one and kill them. But there is a pattern as to the timing of the orb spawns.

Complaining that the fight is RNG is usually an excuse to not being able to complete it.

As a helpful note to all players, contrary to the complains being placed on the forums, there’s no such thing as “RNG” with Liadri.

RNG means Random Number Generator. This would be the equivalent of the term “luck of the draw” when it comes to loot or chests. Most people who say that there’s luck or RNG associated are using the incorrect term. What they mean is the Liadri fight requires skill. Those without it (myself included) usually suffer the agony of defeat.

Everything with the fight has patterns. From the frequency, pattern, and shape of the 1-hit mechanics, to the timing of the orb spawns and pulls, to the amount of time you have to finish the fight. Hit her three times with the crystal thingies that you throw at her, she then starts to gank you. It’s all there each and every matchup. The problem is, because you are so focused on the fight, somethings you don’t see the patterns that present themselves. This is partly the reason why people make up complaints like luck or RNG, since fighting and watching from above at two different perspectives.

As I’ve mentioned in other threads, the only time Lady Luck plays a factor is when you beat Liadri with failed strategies.

I agree with you, OP. I don’t want ArenaNet to lower the difficulty so people can get a “freebie achievement.”

But how do you feel about:

• The Liadri fight taking place above tons of players farming mobs, slowing down the fight.

• The red circles in the Liadri fight barely noticeable because of how the floor looks.

• The only indication of Liadri’s devastating AoE attack being red circles, how will the colorblind fight her?

• The round glass dome the fights happen in + GW2’s camera that is constantly trying to crawl up your anus during combat.

THIS is not a challenge. This content isn’t permanent either, so ontop of these horrible flaws with the Queen’s Gauntlet we have a limited time to fight Liadri before it’s all gone, nice challenge huh?

The way I see it, the environment of the dome adds to the challenge of beating her. The floor is purposely made with holes to mask the red circles. They still can be seen, so then it’s just a matter of timing your dodges. I would prefer that the top level above the PvE zergs should have been a separate map or instance. That way, your friends can still watch the fights from outside, but you wouldn’t be subject to the lag from 50+ people below farming.

For the color blind, unfortunately, there’s nothing that can be done here. If you are physically unable to do something, it’s not meant for you. No manual dexterity in your hands? No jumping puzzles like the Clocktower. Legally blind? I wouldn’t recommend WvWing in a mass zerg. But, on the bright side, there are audio tells that one can train themselves to listen for, and then dodge before counting 2 full seconds. It still requires focus and good timing whether or not you see/hear the tells.

It means it’s your fault, and Anet won’t be helping you to restore a mistake that you made. That may sound mean, but it’s the truth. The Support Team’s time is better spent helping the players who have their accounts stolen, and for game bugs that have negative effects on their accounts.

It seems there are still people who are missing something here: The Queen’s Gauntlet isn’t meant for everyone. If that were the case, your arguments might have some merit. <puts on straw hat> It’s like complaining that you (as a male) aren’t allowed to play on a girl’s basketball team. The Gauntlet separates the good players from the bad players.

A part of the challenge to this content is the knowledge of how the mechanics work. The other part is playing within the mechanics. I see the red circles, and I know almost exactly when they’ll 1-hit me down. But in the middle of the battle, I always panic, and end up dodging a second too early, instead of timing it. Half my dodges waste my endurance due to poor timing. I blame only myself for these failures. People need to start looking in the mirror before casting blame on Anet.

Yes there are bugs. But I’m talking about the core of this issue. Certain content was made for everyone to try, but few to succeed. It’s inherently wrong to ask for a nerf or easy mode so that the purpose of said content is altered.

Regarding Punishing vs Difficult, the subject in the video was aimed at the entire content, not an optional side quest that you choose to take. To say that Guild Wars 2 is overall punishing is completely false. It was made for all types of people to play. Casuals with a couple hours a week, to Hardcore who play 16 hour day, to everyone in between. The key argument here is that one group of people want to do content that another group does well. Do not take this one instance of people complaining the Queen’s Gauntlet is punishing, and define the whole game as such. It’s like saying my M&Ms tasted bad, so all chocolate is bad.

The people complaining are the vocal minority. As are the people who support the Queen’s Gauntlet. What we need to judge Anet on is how all content is delivered every 2 weeks. If they bring out a new Clocktower JP on steroids, expect new complaints and new praise. Not all gamers play the same way, and have the same skill.

And I’ll say this point again, because it’s important to know that I’m not trying to be an Elitist. I did not beat Liadri. My argument in defense of Anet with the Queen’s Gauntlet is simply “it’s working as intended”, aside from the bugs that I’d like them to fix. If I can’t beat her, ever, then that’s that. When I say Learn to Play, that goes for myself too. Gotta practice what you preach. So I’ll be trying and trying, and hopefully I learn from my game play mistakes, and adjust my builds accordingly.

I don’t understand the premise of “false challenge”. The way I see it, Liadri’s mechanics are the same in each fight. The patterns are there, so are the 1-hit bombs, AOE, etc. Bugs and camera angle aside, there’s room for improvement. But the overall feel that not everyone can complete this is welcomed by some.

Anet is trying to please all types of players. Those who like easy stuff. Those who thrive on being punished over and over. Those who PvP. One group may not like the content of what the other group likes, but that doesn’t mean it should be changed.

One can dream, can’t they? Playing as a Tengu would be interesting. I’d love to see their Story Mode. That’s definitely worth the purchase of Character slots.

My speculation is quaggan playable race. As for profession, pure Ritualist would be nice to see. I miss my Spirit Spammer builds that would make an unending mini army of ranged attackers.

The Queen’s Champs always spawn in the exact same place on all maps. If you know where they are, and you know which ones you still need to kill, you can go see which one is on standby. Then you can camp there and wait for someone else to activate them, or complete the quest chains to activate them yourself.

I suggest Salvaging it. Then you can say you did something that very few GW2 players ever did.

No. They mailed out random rewards because players were getting DC’d before opening the end chest.

I would suggest investing in Invisible Bags. I put all my valuable items in there, so I never make the mistake of selling them.

They aren’t tradable, they’re sellable. And Anet doesn’t undo player mistakes. Sorry mate.

If he has the 7 day wait, then he has to wait. Because he deleted all his characters, the transfer will be free. I don’t see how this is penalizing him.

It’s ok to complain, but it’s not ok to ask for nerfs just so that you can do content not meant for you.

But as a solution to the headache that the content gives players, remember that it’s all optional. You aren’t required to fill all achievements, nor are you required to get the mini. It’s exclusive stuff to those who take the time to master the content.

For example, it took me about 5 tries at the Sanctum Runner mini game thingy before I placed first. That’s because I kept trying to understand the mechanics of the skill bar. Once I understood what each skill did, then all I had to do was apply that knowledge. As for beating Liadri, if it takes me a 1,000 times, and I still can’t beat her, that means I’m just not applying the knowledge of her mechanics well.

Being of differing mind, I find nothing “fun” about Liadri. For me to have fun or having a blast requires humor and interesting story. I’m not of the palm sweat, adrenaline, and rage, suffering gamer mentality. There’s a LOT more of us whom are not of that mindset. We deserve new content too. So please don’t say there’s enough content already. There’s enough OLD content already.

There’s the Torch Run mini game outside. No palm sweat required.

Luck is involved, when you can beat her with failed tactics. Otherwise, only skilled players will walk away with the mini.

Players who PvP on the Trading Post like to win. By undercutting the other player, they get to sell their goods first, thus getting their money first, thus being able to reinvest it faster into other goods to flip. It’s a beautiful cycle that repeats over and over. Time is money.

Beside, missing out on 1 Copper per item doesn’t hurt. The tax percentage rounds it out, so it’s like I’m not missing a thing.

Crazy thought for you all: maybe they scrapped the Great Collapse being the Canthan District for the Arts District because they realized they could have a load of Cantha via the tengu in the Dominion of Winds. You get one of the more interesting races of Cantha that’s not just more humanity silliness, an entirely different yet still compelling backstory for Cantha from the tengu perspective, and you get their unique and fascinating architecture that is a loose blend of Asiatic themes with somewhat avian-stylings.

How awesome would that be? We’ve heard the Dragon Empire’s tale, now let’s hear another perspective. They would, as far as we can tell anyway, be the “best” source of Canthan info on Tyria. Unless they shoehorn in a random refugee boat sailing in.

No problem. I’m glad you understand the the purpose of tickets for the Queen’s Gauntlet now.

It’s only controversial to the players who feel “entitled” to everything. Basically, this content isn’t for them. You want the special Liadri mini? Earn it.

You need to be of a certain height to get on some rides. Same as with the Gauntlet. You need to have enough skill to play it properly. Otherwise, like being on a theme park ride with a safety harness that doesn’t fit, you die.

It adds to the challenge, as I’ve said. The gate is there to, in a way, offer incentive to not fail. If you run out of time or die, you need to get a rez or WP and run back. So if you feel that requiring a ticket to get access to elite content is unfair, there’s always the Torch run outside you can do for free.

I’m not a fan of the wallet system myself. If i wanted everything to be visible on one character I would use my bank. What if you have multiple people on an account — a family per say. Makes the usage of gold slitting annoying.

If you have multiple people playing an account, even if it’s a family member, that’s against the rules, and will subject your account to a ban. So I highly recommend that people do not use this as an argument, esp. when they submit tickets for help.

It’s high end content that not everyone will be able to complete. Putting a gate to said content adds to the challenge, where if you can’t complete it before you run out of tickets, you’re out of luck.

As for your arbitrary feeling, do feel same with Disneyland or some other theme park that makes you pay to get in? Or do you feel that allowing everyone in would be more intelligent?

You mean excellent design. I love content that not everyone can do, even if that includes myself. It’s called a “challenge”. If you can’t do it, it’s not Anet’s fault.

If I could flip Gems and Gold, there’d be a few of us who’d completely own the TP. THEN you’d see a horrible in game market.

The fees help to balance the flipping. So instead of flipping every hour, I need to wait a few months to get to a point that I’m comfortable with reselling my Gems.

You want to talk lazy? The Shadow Behemoth, Fire Ele, Jungle Wurm, etc. fights are lazy. You just sit there with a zerg, and spam 1.

Liadri? No no no. This is an example of excellent design. Heaven forbid that you actually have to use game mechanics to avoid getting killed.
