The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
Sounds like a ‘grind’ debate. Everyone gets the jist of what grind means but ask for a dictionary definition and you’ll get different answers. Tell your friend to chill out, what you said wasn’t incorrect.
so transfer fee application cause jq stacked with players having full queue in all borderlands day and night including SEA prime time. Yet has any server with enough number to counter JQ. eventually some people might get demoraled and left. so anets…didnt see that coming huh
Pretty sure someone would have said something similar when SoS was winning all the time…

Only a WvW player would understand my signature.
I see post after post after post complaining about thief’s in WvW.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Anet-pls-swing-nerf-bat-at-Thief-class-in-wvw/first
Is actually only 1 example of which there are many.
Rangers, Engineers have all been nerfed, even tho the community never asked for it. Now there’s the AoE nerf that was never asked for. Yet ArenaNet doesn’t even have a discussion about a profession that cause more upset than any other.
I have a thief and I love playing my thief. I kill regularly, I harass constantly and rarely die and I can see the silliness of the thief’s stealth mechanic.
Queue times, I feel like I’m back at release -.-
I think mounts are fine if they’re purely a cosmetic things that ArenaNet uses as a gold sink.
However I know what the community is like. As soon as you introduce mounts then people will be saying:
What about speed mounts, flying mounts that skip content, mounts that give buffs, mounts that do this and that blah blah blah.
I wonder if those exact same people realise they are dulling down the content they are trying to get excited about by skipping things and making things easier.
Stealth is a broken mechanic. it has caused more controversy in ANY mmo that has ever implemented it. ArenaNet have made it clear they are not going to rework the thief.
AoE is an issue, d/d bunker ele is something they are watching, thief……. doesn’t even get mentioned.
I give ANet a pass on ascended gear because it was supposed to be in the game at launch and they did not have time to add it.
Should they add a next tier, I will not be as forgiving.
Was this commented on prior to release? To my memory it wasn’t, at least not explicitly.
To me they stated it was always supposed to be there after the fact….
I’m not a conspiracy theorist but the introduction of ascended gear was done poorly (FotM only!? come on) and reeks more of a knee jerk reaction to a lack of end game perceived by many and the significant drop off of the player base.
It happens in WvW to which unfortunately isn’t always practical to perform a quick log out fix.
Only a WvW player will understand this expression:

The main problem is the Asura gates. In LA theres one for each city, sPvP and each borderland. But in each city aside from DR theres only a portal to LA. Not to mention that when in sPvP or WvW theres only a portal to LA not any of the home cities. LA is to convenient and accessible Also as someone else pointed out the bank, tp and crafting station r all really close.
Your right about this, LA is just to convenient. I have tried to keep my alts in other Home cities, but inevitably 1 by 1 they end up in LA.
On a slightly different note the issues raised about about other cities has become my issue with PvE in general. That is you just don’t really see other people anymore, except at specific ‘hubs’.
In any event I’m sure it’s something that ArenaNet is aware of, but its good to make these types of threads.
For story mode and explorable, see thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/dungeon-I-ve-done
SoS undermanned, who starts these things…… If SoS is undermanned its because everyone gave up.
This week also shows you its the Auzzies that carry the server because they had Australia Day on reset so most were out having fun and didnt give the server the start they had been accustomed to.
While I like this idea ‘Really, I can’t weapon swap yet!? -.-"
For whatever reason the slowest part of the game is level 40-70.
For me from level 70 onwards I level SO fast, it feels like the xp i get is significantly more from Straights of Devastation onwards.
Making a stealth thief for WvW is the obvious choice. It does so much more than ranger.
Stealth along with the rendering issues in WvW make a thief one of the single best toons for WvW.
+ 1 to soul bound items being easier to identify.
Did we ever get an answer to this?
When the enemy servers are camping the start with siege covering the entry platform with a constant barrage so the moment you zone in you are dead due to catapult and arrowcart fire?
I only go to the JP for the free blueprints and bonus badges (to buy more blueprints) as all of my cash goes on repairs and site upgrades, Normally I don’t have time to “Chill for a bit” as there is a war to get back to, but even if I did, you can’t chill for long under a siege barrage…..
Glad you stuck to the theme of the post and didn’t QQ -.-
How about roll a thief or mesmer for invisibility.
How about change you stats so can get out of harms way by jumping off a huge ledge and take minimal damage.
This thread was about giving people ideas, not people that want to QQ more…
The imbalance between males and females needs to be corrected, and this game has the potential to be a leader in this area.
Honestly, your stance is commendable, but ultimately naive. It’s important to argue balance but you will NEVER get it.
Biology alone tells you that you can’t have the same armour for men and women. Want a warrior dressed like conan the barbarian, Leo G linked a nice picture. Well I want that EXACT same armour for female toons., oh but you can’t do that. Politically what you say is correct for equality, but realistically it will never happen.
It’s important to have these discussions, it allows us to find the middle ground. Differences between men and women will always persist and differences within gender will always persist. In summation this thread is a legitimisation process, it shouldn’t be about grand standing.
It’s better to ask what you would like from ArenaNet for yourself.
The issue is AoE apparently, not thief’s, didn’t you get the memo?
I see thread after thread of people complaining about how ‘unfair’ the JP is when a server/guild decides to camp it.
What I don’t see many threads on is what to do when when someone does. There are many ways you CAN counter the camping that occurs.
Firstly, take some ownership of the situation. Don’t die, come here and QQ!
Consider the following:
Safety in numbers, heaven forbid you have to wait 2 mins to see if more of you allies join you. Shame on allies that come in, look for 10 seconds and then map out again. Just a little persistence is needed sometimes.
First and foremost, wait till a mesmer is topside. If you want the easy win, take the portal when its there, you can’t lose. Make sure you say thank you!
People camping the beginning section? No problem.
Chill for a bit, that means wait, don’t run into 10v1 and hope fingers crossed you will make it our alive, you won’t. Wait till a mesmer or thief with mass invisibility comes or castes a portal so you can get behind the enemy zerg. To the mesmer/thief’s make sure you suggest it to ppl standing next to you when you enter. Other ppl, make sure you listen!
People camping the arena section, little trickier but still solvable. The enemies at the top are there for one reason, YOU. So if you’re not there, they won’t be. Meaning I’ve seen entire groups wipe because they insisted on pushing into the arena instead of waiting for enemies to get bored, only for me to return by myself 10 minutes later and make top because everyone has left.
Hang back, wait in the dark room, 9/10 they get bored and leave. Stick your head out to see if they have left, not to fight.
Like I said 9/10 they won’t follow you down, because they don’t want to get stuck down there with you.
Finally, make use of the 3 invisible wells in the puzzle, they will server you well.
On a personal note, siege in the puzzle is stupid and I don’t know why ArenaNet allows it, it makes the traps pointless.
Please feel free to add your suggestions on how to make end chest.
Only a WvW player would understand ‘invisi rendering thief’ or ‘portal bombing mesmer’.
When you look around in real life waiting for enemies to render.
I just wanted to add that you may need ‘chantry of secrets’ area, for those people who may read this and require one more poi.
Even tho it appears in Bloodtide Coast its in a separate instance below it where 1 poi is required for 100% completion as I just found out -.-
Interesting idea, maybe it could be introduced as a special event weekend. As a long term idea I think keeping it as PvP orientated keeps it much more interesting. If ArenaNet removed siege from the JP it would make people more inclined to use traps.
EDIT: As it is its more efficient to siege up the arena section.
There’s also a very good reason to stop the enemy doing the jumping puzzle: they get siege for doing it.
Personally, I find PvP in the EB JP to be some of the most exciting, interesting PvP in the game.
I’d like to see this aspect of the game developed more to. WvW is a huge zerg half the time and sPvP while challenging isnt dynamic at all. I love the skirmishes that break out in the JP and its shameful that its relegate to the corner of WvW, where if you spend time there your perceived as ‘taking away resources’ from WvW.
I can also understand your concerns, however if you want to do the puzzle or simply the achievement you can be proactive you side to.
Join up with other people? Do some research, how can you make it better for yourself, did you know that there are regular portals to the top?
While I don’t want the ‘inspection’ to occur. I find it frustrating that we’ve created a system that encourages people to use ‘magic find’.
I mean what’s to lose? You have a greater chance of getting better gear and a team that helps pick up the slack…..
It’s great that we argue equality and that we constantly strive for it in society. It’s good that we take that to games such as GW2 and apply it to fashion within the game.
Biological Psychology also demonstrates that while there are societal influences which can help determine people’s behaviour. People are also hardwired to behave and respond in particular ways.
It’s important to ask for balance with regards to GW2 fashion and great that we have those conversations and while that process is important, its important to understand you’re never going to get balance. Concurrently we have to avoid forcing our views onto other people. As such you have to allow people the space to wear what they want within the realms of GW2.
It’s better to ask what you would like from ArenaNet for yourself. Rather than telling them what they should be doing for other people.

Good call OP.
The current MF shouldn’t be any part of your traits/armour/weapons.
Unless you’re prepared to play solo (it’s an MMO -.-) everytime you decide to use MF other people in your group are indirectly affected by that.
To try use it in its current state is to either expect every other person in your team to use it to, or expect that they have to pick up the extra that you left out because you decided to run MF instead.
I really don’t know what ArenaNet was thinking when they decided on its current system. It encourages people to have a leech attitude.
Technically it’s still combat when you’re in the downed state. However, if there’s a champion standing over you that you foolishly tried to solo still at 50% health or a zerg of 50 is standing on top of you in WvW, it makes your chances of rallying pretty slim.
Penalties and whatever else can still apply, but do we really have sit there and think ‘oh hurry up and get on with it’, twiddling your thumbs while you wait to get back into the fight.
Allow map travel in downed state if we so choose, that way we’re not waiting for the mechanics to catch up with what we already know.
It was my goal which I am now done with. It’s great to see other like minded people. I would love to see some form of recognition for this from ArenaNet.
Having said that it was something I did for myself and have no regrets.
For anyone interested I HIGHLY recommend you get involved in WvW Eternal Battleground. Provided you’re on a decent server with decent commanders you level much quicker than most other forms of leveling up.
8 lvl 80’s gogogogogoggogogogogogogogogo!
Dunno. People must be really traumatized by WoW or something, to actually hate the idea of mounts so much. What, seeing someone riding sends cold shivers down your back and you get flashbacks of your raid leader yelling at you for being late again?
I think you’re confused. It’s the pointlessness of mounts that makes people groan. Are you that caught up in WoW that you can’t see that we have waypoints which means you dont need mounts and wont be late.
In my experience nobody has patience for them.
They typically wait 30 seconds to try get enough people then go off and do something else.
Once you get your 10 people and the event triggers you suddenly have 30 people standing next to you -.-
ALL I SEE here are pure speculations.
And whose fault is that?
ArenaNet should have opened up some kind of discussion about why they perceived an imbalance and given us details around which AoE skills and professions they relate to.
Instead were left with this generic AoE nerf incoming which the community didn’t even ask for.
Lets forget invisi rendering thief’s, the community has said nothing about them -.-
I recommend WvW, it’s the only content that’s repeatable imo.
Just starting out? Go to a map where a commander is and follow them. If you start to get into it more, look for a WvW guild and that will enhance your experience more.
Is so easy to get known but is harder to be unknown.
It’s also easier to make claims of power without accepting responsibility.
Whatever it is, it will be fairly stagnant. Once free transfers stop most people/guilds will stay in place.
Lets hope the changes coming will do something positive for WvW, that helps mix it up. ArenaNet shouldn’t be worried about the people that still frequent the forums and play the game. Its the silent ones that have stopped all together that ArenaNet should be concerned about.
Hope some of our newly arrived guilds are settling well and getting members onto the server ok.
As an Ex-CD player I was sad to leave it, only doing so because my guild decided to.
I can say without a doubt that any guilds wanting to prove there metal will have no greater support than what I know to be on CD.
CD has a great community that puts in 100% each week.
We are talking about nerfing AoE because ArenaNet stated its a problem. I mean wth, lets not listen to the community.
We are only talking about AoE because ArenaNet talked about it.
I mean lets not mention what seems like 100’s of threads about what people DON’T LIKE ABOUT THIEVES.
Yes lets ignore that topic.
Forgets thief’s lets nerf AoE because that’s what the community wants. Genius.
I don’t think you get this whole thing at all.
Enlighten us then.
Would <3 to see where your ‘most’ statement on that is legitimised. Why would an invis rendering thief stick around in the middle of a mob after its dropped someone, they would be looking for a quick escape.
Who said anything about sticking around in a middle of a mob? I switch to shortbow often to use my aoe’s, especially clusterbomb, so to say an aoe nerf is a buff for thieves is just not correct.
Because theif’s spend most their time shooting from a distance, what are you even arguing? lol
Try reading:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Short-bow-almost-required/first#post333027
Does anyone know if ArenaNet’s statement means its because AoE’s are in someway being abused by knowledgeable people or just that most people use it.
Because unless you’re an informed player chances are if you made an ele, your most likely to automatically use a staff, same for a nec imo, nerfing it probably wouldn’t stop that player base from using it either lol.
Because most d/d thief’s switch to their s/b for cluster bomb….. it has nothing to do with Infiltrator’s Arrow.
lol your trying to be sarcastic but failing bad because most D/D thiefs just use heartseeker for travel and DO in fact switch to shortbow for aoe’s.

For a staff wielding ele or bow holding ranger it was pretty much their only thing lol.
So with the announcement that AoE will be getting nerfed, does it make it even safer to be a thief now?
Also are we expecting the rendering issues to be 100% solved, if not, the thief will have received an indirect buff from AoE changes.
Just saying.
