Patience is probably the no1 factor that makes a good commander.
I’ve seen some real ‘heroe heads’ arguing with a commander decisions for now other real reason other then to try and make themselves look good. x10 that during one session and it takes real patience to not tell someone to go jump.
There’s been a lot of talk about this patch so I’m expecting ‘big’ things.
Definitely the rendering issue will be resolved and hopefully in a way we are satisfied with.
I’m also expecting some of the class skills will be better balanced, siege too (which hopefully will be removed from EB puzzle).
WvW will be adjusted to stop folding effects:
- Revamped scoring
- Some kind of supports to accomodate losing servers
Additions that are possible:
- Auto loot to inventory
- Downed-state reworked
- Orbs replaced (however seems to soon)
Finally I’d like to see them include a system that encourages people to want to spend gems on WvW. I’m not talking about P2W but if people use RL money to enhance their WvW experience then I think in turn ArenaNet will start to pay more attention to it.
That’s my take on it.
Another title could be ‘zerg management’ based on what you’re discussing.

VoiP for WvW focused guilds is the difference between implementing a good stratagem and a great one. The zerg role in that typically is deduced to a distraction for the enemy or pure numbers to overwhelm/run supply. Commanders don’t have to “talk more” to the zerg, a good commanders just knows how to use them effectively.
Having said that I have respect all the commanders you’ve just mentioned. They do a great job for CD.

How can you say that a thief can exploit the rendering issue? My high end computer doesn’t have that rendering issue at all. What do you want us to do? Stop going in stealth which is one of the main mechanics for that profession?
On topic: one simple fix. Make the character stay in-game for maybe 30 seconds after quitting. There? Problem solved
Actually the rendering issue has nothing to do with the performance of your PC it’s on the ArenaNet programming side of things and something they are addressing

I am seeing this more and more and I really hope the dev’s acknowledge this problem and try to address it.
They have acknowledged it (cba looking for the dev post).
It will be addressed, the real question is when.
In the meantime, moral proclivity aside it saves you fixing your armour and deprives the enemy of a reward.
Slowly making an ele atm which is currently lvl 26 and is made 90% from WvW.
I’m an altoholic and PvE bores me to tears now.
My only issue in WvW is that toons I level here feel ‘squishy’ compared to the mobs/servers I’m up against but that’s also due to me getting used to them too.
WvW is a resource hog for Anet and it makes them little to no money. Now that you’ve bought the game, you can play it any time.
Look how much effort went into Halloween and I bet you it made them twice the money than anything WvW has done recently.

I’m not sure if it’s related but ‘objects’ seem to have a significant miss ratio. In WvW targeted siege and the like tends to miss, particularly when I use melee (yes I’m in range).
In PvE and Story mode when I need to beat on things like Tamini supplies, I get a similar effect, like collision is off in some way?
I guess this is why ArenaNet held off on making transfers 7 days. It was inevitable that some kitten was going to start a QQ thread about it. Can’t wait till they close transfers…..

Follow commander icons which usually has the zerg with it is your best chance at making money. If your commander is good or the other server is asleep you should fair well.

Getting back to the OP. Yes, it’s been my single biggest issue as a thief and non-thief user.
I recently started using a thief and its funny to unleash damage on people and yet they have no idea where it’s coming from. I recognise it has nothing to do with my ‘l33t’ skills but simply the rendering issue.
On paper I’m sure stealth works correctly but in RL it’s much much different.
Tbh I think this thread is silly.
Not because you’re wrong but because if someone has gone to the effort of setting up a well coordinated group of thief’s THE single worst thing they could do would be to post about it here.
As soon as you admit to coordinating/participating in such a thing the next step in that process is having a discussion about that. Is it/isn’t it fair, balance, counters etc etc. If it doesn’t happen, you don’t need to do anything right?
Not sure about stacking, but I’ve seen instant stomps done by classes that have quickness skills.
Having said that I wouldn’t be surprised if that information is handled client side………

If they catch me off guard they will no doubt pride themselves on how ‘l33t’ they are. Usually tho it turns into a scrappy affair. They attempt to take me down without luck and once they realise this they ‘invisi render combo’ run off to find something squishy so they can feel ‘l33t’ again.

The issues surrounding server/client side information is worth reading up on people. It will be hard for Anet to counter hackers given the level of client side information that’s handled.

The Halloween event was fun, generated a lot of interest and I’m sure generated some nice income for Anet (anyone else buy keys for those kitten chests?)
Given the effort that’s gone into Halloween it didn’t leave much space for WvW issues did it? Realistically aside from highlighting that GW2 has end game what else does Anet get out of WvW?
There’s no financial incentive to address WvW issues quickly. The short-term players have already jumped ship and the rest of us have gotten used to many of the issues that WvW has. Most of us don’t spend additional RL money on WvW, furthermore why would Anet even change some things when some people will perceive those changes as being worse.
This thread is generic in that I’m not talking specific issues but that’s intentional. The fact is we post a lot in these threads about issues we have with WvW.
In summation while these threads are important and my understanding of Anet is that they will listen. Don’t expect changes soon for many of the problems you are raising.
There are some issues with semantics regarding this thread. Having said that if we could take some liberties with whats being discussed the reason why ‘hackers’ don’t get mentioned much in terms of WvW is because there is not a lot that Anet can do about it.
Anet has separated many processes that could be handled server side or client side. With regards to aspects such as ‘speed hacks’ Anet is not really in a position to deal with this as the information is handled client side.
The reason we hear little is because to determine what is occurring client side is very difficult to ascertain, only Anet knows if they are able to determine this at all.
They will FIX this rendering issue and all you exploiters will QQ like little school girls yet it will not be a nerf but a much needed FIX.
I think if they fix that rendering issue Thieves will be fine

Id <3 to ride a Yak during the escort process. (When) we dominate the map, it would be very relaxing.
My issue is that it takes a moment for bags to render when you get a kill. So if you’re not paying attention you can run by your loot bags. As a result if I’ve been in a big scrap i tend to do a quick double back and most times I’ll have missed some bags.
I hate the rendering issues in WvW.
It’s the re balancing that I see. IoJ 2 weeks ago and SoS last week, both servers have had an influx of quality guilds, CD as such struggled against them. Concurrently we see the decline of ET and HoD but given their scores CD isn’t in the same tier as them. Over the next couple weeks CD will be back up a tier, the tier were in atm is too low.
So, finally got the achievement and my first thought was to come here and post….
Forget the big toons that block your view, wait times or even platform/player detection.
BUT FIX THE CAMERA GLITCH
At the spot where you pause and have to wait just after you start. The platforms have to pop up in front of you before you can jump.
What does my camera do as I make the jump? Pushes up and zooms so far in I end up looking at my Asuran kitten instead of where I’m jumping. It turns into a ‘Leap of Faith’ and I do a series of little jumps and hope that I’m not too far left or right or the skeletons are going to get that piece of kitten I was just telling you about.
Difficulty was fine, but over coming the camera glitch was nothing to do with skill. Please fix.

The issue I have with this thread is that you’re expecting specific answers for specific things. As Matt’s update indicates they can’t tell you exactly what’s happening. While it’s frustrating I understand their sentiment, the community can be very unforgiving. Once you state specific dates or future changes the community is almost viral in the way it responds to things you may want to change later. And for every one person that agrees with your idea’s there’s someone else that disagree. In some ways it’s safer to keep a small distance.
Having said that don’t be surprised if they touch on the points you’ve made, but they would be saying something to the effect of ’We’re looking into it’ which won’t mean anything.
While I’m confident that ArenaNet is working on many, if not all the issues you’ve raised. Indeed you’ve raised some legitimate points, it doesn’t understand the nature on Online communities.

What is fair?
I was at a supply camp and we had a thief that wouldn’t let us cap it. This went of for a time till I got the thief’s name.
I then passed this onto the people at the supply camp who then put it into team chat who was then encouraged by the commander present to report the thief for hacking/botting w/e and PM the guy as much.
In any event it worked, the thief left and we capped the camp.
Tbh the whole situation was rather amusing. What was fascinating for me was how the tactic used by the thief motivated an entire map to submit a BS report about him.
inb4 we did attempt to bunch up to counter the near permanent stealth, but we were operating with the zerg….

I completely agree with the OP on this one. Ive taken few of my toons through the jumping puzzles for gear and have no intention of using them in WvW. Effectively giving me useless blueprints.
Interestingly I didn’t know of this till I started to read about it in the forums…. Ofc I would never use it myself <.<

Not sure I understand what you’re asking. Do you want Anet to do something about players folding the minute one team gets a slight advantage? What are they gonna do, send them a pair of balls in the mail?
While your ‘jib’ is slightly amusing in the way it pokes fun at people’s masculinity it does ignore the numerous threads and possible legitimate solutions to ‘Folding’.
Getting back to the thread. I’m actually ok if ArenaNet says there is no ‘Folding’ issue. Then I shall wait for ArenaNet to move to 2 week match ups (which is what has always been intended) and watch the communities response then.

Yes cannons and oil is useless. Even the brain dead zerg has realised it has to be taken down straight away. Its all gone within a few moments.

You guys starting winning the exact moment a bunch of people transferred to IoJ. Please stop acting like you’re master strategists and simply excel at the game. Every server has WvW guilds. Every server has people who “just love to fight”. You just outnumber everyone. Plain and simple.
If there were no free transfers, you would not be winning (at least not by this wide of a margin). Free transfers ruined this match up (and many others).
I hope you remember this next week. Because WHEN you start losing, all those fair weather players that transferred to IoJ this week because their server was losing, are going to bail on you next week when you’re losing. In fact, a few weeks from now you’ll probably be below tier 2.
Pretty much this. IoJ has had an influx of quality guilds. It’s not that the guilds currently in it have been great. In most cases IoJ would only function adequately once the zerg showed up. In any event these types of posts will disappear most likely when IoJ goes tier 1 then we will start to see posts on how broken WvW is then -.-
