I’ve heard different things. The most decent dev post on that matter stated that some sort of profession MMR was in place. I’m inclined to believe it, since I only face good or even top players when I play with my mains (engi and mesmer), but regularly get phoenix or lower players when I play my ranger.

yeah it worked so well we had 20 min que times and no one ever used it at the end. I dont know if the “all in” thing is the right way to go but currently the player base is still to small and we wont know what we have until the exp comes out.

You keep complaining about solo queue in every thread. We get it. You only win as part of an organized team and enjoy facing pugs. Not everyone feels that way though. Some want to fight on a more even playing field.

The thing is, he’s right. You didn’t address the issue he’s raising. We had 20min queues in soloq. The match-making was even more random than it is now. Most soloq players, myself included preferred to PUG in teamq, and in those days there was no mechanism to make sure you don’t face premades that often. And STILL we chose that over soloq. Why the nostalgia mate?

[Sugguestion] Remove Downed State From WvW.

The downed state is one of the most unique thing GW2 offers, and I wouldn’t want it removed, even though I almost exclusively roam solo. To be honest, it wouldn’t seem very fair if I were able to kill a 4-man group on my own: I like the “strength in numbers” feeling you have in WvW.

That being said, it could be cool to have it removed in WvW for a special 1-week event, just like they removed the white crosses during the “sneak attack” event. I know these events usually cause an uproar in the forums, but I’m convinced that occasional WvW players like them: it spices things up a bit.

I don’t get why so many PvE players dislike the Scrapper so much. Sure, if the function Gyro doesn’t remotely open chests (like I hope it will), that particular functionality doesn’t look great. But we are still getting a melee weapon, which means it will probably hit harder than rifle.

More importantly, those of us who like open world PvE can rejoice: we (probably) are now the fastest profession in the game! I sometimes like to race other players, and on my engi I used to lose against FGS eles and GS-sw/wh warriors, but with the leap+swiftness nerf and the massive amount of Super Speed available to us, we might take the lead.

Yeah, same here. So tired of these bunker burn guardians, these cele power signet wells necros, these d/d cele fresh air eles, these d/p SA Acro thieves, these trap survival LB rangers, these burn elixir X nades engis, and those bloody GS rampage shoutbow hammer warriors!

Seriously dude, guardian is my least played profession, but I’m pretty sure the build you describe doesn’t exist.

I like to run those 3 when dueling, but the majority of the time I run marksmanship, skirmishing, beastmastery with a few shouts, trooper runes and remorseless. The damage is a lot stronger and this set up is actually a lot more survivable in WvW since you aren’t fighting on point and quickdraw helps you outmaneuver people with your double stealth and double leaps.

Could you please link the build you’re using? I’m new to ranger, and I’ve been trying to design a low-precision build with these three traitlines, for WvW roaming. A little inspirarion from a veteran would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.

I like the concept! I can’t play right now, but on the top of my head: have you tried Elixir Gun instead of Elixir C? Because you’re missing a stun-breaker here, and EG with HGH is amazing (and has a good synergy with your healing power). If conditions are a problem, take Hoelbrak runes. Also, don’t you think that “No Scope” would be better than “Skilled Marksman”? You could have a Fury uptime close to 100%, for a total of 30-40% crit chance a close range.
I look forward to your feedback on how this build plays. I’ve also been trying to make that rune work.

As it was stated before, I think every profession is in a good place, with one particular ele build being over-performing and ranger still being a bit lackluster in team fights. If I had to rank the professions, I’d say the following:

1) Elementalist
2) Necromancer, Mesmer, Guardian, Thief
3) Warrior, Engineer
4) Ranger

Notice that every profession but ranger sees a lot of use in major tournaments. Anet: fix dd ele, give ranger a valuable, skillful team fight mechanic, and you’ll achieve your best balance so far.

You’re completely right. I wouldn’t say it’s unplayable, but it’s a serious, unintended drawback. In WvW, where I play MI, it’s even worse: why would you add a reflect to a skill which only purpose is to stealth?

Hmm alright so engi is still good but it’s not as ideal as Ele and warr ofc. I mean is the difference over engi and warrior huge? Everyone seems to think warrior is dirt poor now but I still enjoy it.

Can’t see power rifle on metabattle… Hmm is it worth going back to engi or just sticking out Ele and warr. It’s hard when all 3 are equally fun haha, now it’s all about winning.

Play what you like to play. Engi is really fun post-patch, because while there’s no meta build, there are a lot of different somewhat viable builds.

My favorite picks are Grenadier burst, FT-HGH decap with celestial amulet, or FT-HGH rabid. In EU, a lot of engineer play the same rifle build with soldier amulet, but I don’t understand the role it plays: ele is better in 1v1s.

In general, mirror duels are not that fun to watch in that opinion. I like every duel with a SD thief in it, or warrior against mesmer, something with two very different playstyles meeting.

Cele necro hard counters anyone who even dares touch condi damage stats so there’s a problem in that of itself.

Why? Necro was always strong against condi specs. You can’t expect to win against anything on any build. At least you can easily disengage from a signet necro. Learn to rotate.

its pretty funny how some of the most hated builds (d/d ele, burn guards, ramp wars) are countered by a cele necro. not the strongest build by any means, but countering those classes makes it worth it

I know right? I’ve started playing this build, and while being one of the worst necro EU, soloq is a lot less frustrating, and I stand at a stunning 71% win ratio. Necro is finally fun and rewarding boys and gals!

I can see the celestial signet build having more survivability once it’s being attacked, although I think it also exposes itself to being attacked much more than the condition build since it requires melee range.

My worry is the damage. I think the celestial signet build’s damage is poor, while conditions can do a lot more, especially with Corrupt Boon. And I don’t feel like the condition build is so lacking in survivability (especially with 20-second-cooldown Consume Conditions) that it should really worry about giving up so much damage for some survivability.

20+ might stacks at all time with the damage boost from Strength runes really gets you far in terms of damage. Further than the condi build against players who actually use condi removal.

In addition, the cele signet build has a less selfish heal, amazing life force generation (and makes a better use of the shroud), more mobility, and is overall more fun imo, which can also explain its “popularity”. Using the brackets because you rarely see this build in EU: all I see are power, signet condi, or even MM necros.

Of course it is. That’s how metas are shaped. Think about pre-patch cele engineer: they suddenly became meta without receiving any buffs, just because they fulfilled a role they couldn’t before.

I will be as bold as saying that necro has never been stronger than it is now apart from the brief Dhuumfire episode. And unlike that time, now they actually have a role, instead of just having OP damage. In soloq, when I’m not actively playing it, I keep my cele necro ready, and I immediately swap to it when I see two eles on the other team. It’s almost a guaranteed win.

I’m sure the wording of the title was intentional: the weakest light profession. The fact is, in soloq, the three light classes are the strongest picks right now.

Hello,

As many other users i am excluded from the ascended armor gears. Indeed i play to have fun and crafting is not something i want to spend any time on.

The question:
Will i still be excluded from the ascended armor gears in the soon coming expansion?

Bottom line is that anyone should be able to have access to best gear without being forced to do something you don’t like (if i can buy it at TP, even expensive it is fine).

You can now change the stats of your ascended armor rather easily. So do like I did: just wait till the armor pieces drop and make you armor as you go. Since April 2014, I’ve had four armor pieces and three weapons, playing pvp casually. That’s almost a full character!

It’s basically the same, but with a twist: Lock On istead of Streamlined Kits. To stay mobile, we use Runes of the Traveler (less power, but the boon duration is kinda nice).

Personnally, I find myself playing my engineer a lot more post-patch. So many new traits to play with!

In general, HGH is a really strong trait to take. Even for just Elixir X and Elixir S it’s worth it. I also run a FT celestial build that ressembles the one Rozbuska linked (but playing Tools instead of Inventions for a sweet iAmmo-Kinetic Battery combo).

For the second build, why take power wrench trait? You don’t have the tool kit on the skill bar.

This is a cool meta (I also liked the cele meta), and today’s patch was a step in the right direction balance-wise. Mesmers are a lot more fragile now, especially to conditions (mantra fix ftw). If elementalist gets shaved a bit, that might be the best meta to date.

On the engineer, the Elixir X has a reduced CD of 84s. Statistically, that’s a Rampage every 168s (engineers get Tornado half the time). HGH increases the duration of the effects of the elixirs, so our Rampage lasts for 15*1.2 = 18s

On both skills, the cool down starts when the transformation begins, which will yield the following calculation:

The warrior has a total Rampage uptime of 15/144 = 10.42%, while the engineer has a total Rampage uptime of 18/168 = 10.71%.

In addition to this glorious victory, Elixir X gives a very situational, but sometimes useful Tornado every 168s, and an AoE moa, while the warrior only has his eyes to cry with. Conclusion: Elixir X > Rampage.

Rampage duration from elixir x got reduced with 25% (just like warrior’s rampage), not that it matters much it’s still great and way better then that tornado rubbish.

Yeah, but we’re on average getting one rampage every 168s, and warriors once every 144s. In addition, we have the AoE moa and the very situational tornado.

Helseth is mediocre at best. Honestly having played vs all these people he is one of the worst of all the “esports” tryhards. People like ROM and Fraelina are much much better than him. They are capable of carrying games whereas helseth is honestly worse than a ton of wvwers I have fought against.

It’s only PvP and maybe WvW people complaining. PvE is having a ball right now.

I’m sure if the pve mobs could have a say they too would be telling you that the last patch put this game out of balance.

Well, consider that we are getting a new game mode, and that pvp players are benefiting the most from the elites specs: most pvp players play every profession, so it represents hours of experimentation with new stuff, that I’m looking forward to.

Also, Guild Halls are amazing for everyone who is in a guild. If Anet devs are smart, they will let us queue from our hall, and we’ll sure benefit from it as well.

Bi weekly patches are nice, but they would be better if they actually addressed what people are concerned about.

Nerfed rampage, uh? ok?, warrior was a mid tier or third tier class at best. The big 3 (Mesmer, Eles and Thiefs, remain untouched).

Read the notes.

Mesmer: bugged mantras are fixed, bugged blinds are fixed, Mirror Blade lost one bounce (and therefore deals less damage).

Rampage wasn’t even nerfed. It’s just a more situational skill now, just like the other transforms. Oh, and Rampage warrior is “meta”: a lot of teams use one, oRNG included.

CS, blind shatter, and the Pledge are my biggest problems with Mesmer.

CS, just get rid of it (sorry mesmers, but I just don’t think this trait should even exist)
AOE Blind on shatter needs a ICD, like 10 seconds.
Get rid of CD traits that promotes staying in stealth, return it to flat reduction.

The Pledge? Boy, I think I’ve now seen every mesmer trait called OP on these forums. The CD reduction isn’t even that good on power builds, and come close to the original 20% only on PU condi builds. That being said, it’s now an adept trait, so it’s probably balanced.

you could just run a non zerker build. Even though you list your stats, you didnt mention if there defensive skills or offensive. Like full bunker builds are incredible hard to kill.

I’ve not seen anything that can survive 2v1 for long.

As it should. You’re supposed to lose when outnumbered.

But actually, some Soldier necro builds, d/d eles, bunker guardians or even soldier engis can hold a point decapped (not capped though) for several minutes against two opponents, unless it’s one thief and one mesmer.

Does it work? I’ve been incapable of playing a decent SD build since the patch, since without Explosives, you don’t have the knock back on the Rifle Turret, and it feels a bit lackluster, if you compare the SD damage to grenades for example.

Ok Phil, we get it mesmers are OP. But ask yourself, what is fun with mesmers? Portal is fun! It’s a great team ability, that everyone likes to use, not only mesmers. More frequent Portals allow for more team strategy, more chess-like plays, and isn’t that exactly why we like Conquest?
